"Walking into Customshop feels like strolling into a New York City restaurant, but instead, it’s in the heart of Elizabeth. The much-appreciated dark lighting, splashes of brick, and the familiar staff that has been around for a good while make it so. Chef Andres Kaifer combines ingenuity with seriously simple ingredients — the squash gnocchi in a herby, tomato-ey lamb sauce, or the tender duck with a sweet-and-sour cherry demiglace. While Customshop has certainly been a tried-and-true spot for a special occasion over the past 15 years, it’s arguably a really ideal go-to spot as well, for splitting a generously-sized pasta or sipping on a mezcal and coffee-washed Campari cocktail or a bright matcha gin drink at the bar for first-date vibes." - Kayleigh Ruller

"Customshop has been serving farm-to-table dinners since 2007, which is around the same time that people across the country realized their food comes from farms. We’re only sort of joking, but this is one of those restaurants that celebrates North Carolina’s extremely good and varied produce. Come for dinner and definitely get a vegetable-focused small plate or two before moving to a seafood or pasta main. If the menu has a pasta dish with seafood, and it usually does, you legally have to order it (or we’ll appear out of nowhere and attempt to make a citizen’s arrest). The restaurant stays true to the organic theme, with fresh flowers on the wood tables, stoneware dishes, and a general, upscale granola energy." - tess allen

"On an idyllic Elizabeth Street corner lives the buzzy, candlelit Customshop. Some couples dine outside with small plates (like any of the three impressive crudo dishes) and a bottle of red for a relaxed street-style experience, while others pop inside to the granite bar or snug tabletops for pear butter burrata and a shiso lemongrass cocktail. Split whichever fresh catch that chef/owner Andres Kaifer grills that day, and conclude with his mom’s custardy flan recipe. It’s a menu that celebrates North Carolina’s produce, meat, and seafood (sourced from all of the purveyors listed at the bottom of the menu) with the technical style and romantic ambiance of coastal European fare." - Kayleigh Ruller

"Customshop is an elegant eatery that became a date-night staple in Elizabeth over the span of 12 years. The staff shut the doors in August for a facelift on the 115-year-old structure, before reopening this month. The interior features warmer decor tones, a new bar, and new tables, with a menu featuring American dishes with Italian, Spanish and French influences. Sample dishes include potato gnocchi with octopus, chorizo and corona beans; duck breast with candied beluga lentils and dates; and more." - Katie Toussaint

I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Custom Shop! From start to finish, everything was impeccable. Zoe, our bartender and waitress, provided excellent service . We tried a variety of dishes: bruschetta, duck empanadas, pork belly, bass, and the ravioli, and every single item was exquisite. Each dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and perfectly cooked. We also ended the night with a coffee martini, which was the perfect finishing touch to an unforgettable meal. Custom Shop truly delivered a delightful culinary experience. Highly recommend both for the food and the outstanding service!

Google
Amazing experience. Highly recommend if you are looking for a unique dining experience with a curated menu that boost excellent fusion of international flavors with strong execution. Having lived in Chicago and in Europe, this place really impressed me in terms of flavors and execution. The vibe is cool and service is superb. Nice cocktail menu as well. We loved all the dishes we ordered so the recommendation is in no particular order, but in my opinion you must get one of the dishes from the crudo section - we got the shrimp one, which is acidic, refreshing, with some heat and nice touch of crunchy puff rice. Small plate - can’t go wrong with the shishito peppers and fingerlings, both simple dishes but was amazingly well done with nice balance of flavors and addicting sauces that keep you coming back for more spoonfuls. We went with two pastas to share, it was a great decision because we couldn’t pick which pasta was our favorite. The canestri with pork ragu was delicious with the pasta cooked to perfection with a nice pork ragu that’s meaty but not heavy, garlicky and savory, very satiating. The squid ink pasta was absolutely delicious with pasta perfectly prepared that’s tangy and delicious with chorizo and shrimp. We had no room for desert unfortunately. I’m looking forward to coming back next time and trying the rest of the menu!

We visited this restaurant to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and overall, it was a great experience. The service was excellent—our waiter was polite, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy, though it does get busy here. We tried all the crudos and pastas, and everything was delicious. Our favorites were the main courses—the fish was excellent, and the duck was perfectly cooked. I also ordered a flan, which was exceptional. The only minor comment I have is that I wish they had brought a candle with the dessert, as I had mentioned in the reservation that it was a birthday celebration.

Google
Absolutely spectacular dinner. Everything was top notch. We had shrimp appetizer, beef tartar to start. Entrée were duck and sea bass. Dessert chocolate tart and flan. Accompanied by several delicious wines. Best dinner in Charlotte.

Google
The ambiance here is romantic and perfect for a date night or special occasion! I recommend starting with a few of the Crudo small bites to share and then ordering some mains to share or have to your self. Also the cocktails are delicious! And the desert suppressed me with new flavors!

Outstanding food and service. Flavors are bright and powerful. The duck, empanadas, pastas, and flan are the must-order dishes.

We had not been to Customshop in a few years (I know we missed out) and I don't know why! This restaurant is one of the best in Charlotte and never disappoints. My husband and I went for a NYE dinner and sat at the bar. The service, atmosphere and of course the food were all perfection. It's such a warm inviting neighborhood space. We started with a Shrimp Escabeche which we both loved. It was fresh with the perfect kick of Calabrian chile. Next we had the beets with yogurt and it was lick the plate delicious. We ended with the special of the night, Wagyu beef. High five to us for getting the last one. As my husband says, if there's a Wagyu beef on the menu, you get it and of course he was right! (He probably wants me to say that again.) Don't wait a few years to go (or go back) to Customshop. This should be on your restaurant rotation.

Great service and great food. Nice portion sizes. Visited twice once with a corporate board and then went back for my 60th birthday

Yelp
I recently dined at this spot and was impressed by both the food and the overall experience! Hamachi Crudo: Absolutely one of the best thing on the menu! The texture was perfect, and the crispy corn added a satisfying crunch that made every bite exciting. Empanadas: While the flaky texture was a plus, the pork stuffing was underwhelming. It lacked flavor, and the texture felt mushy. Thankfully, the sauce it came with helped elevate the dish a bit. Sea Scallops: The scallops were decent but lacked that "wow" factor I was hoping for. They tasted like... scallops--nothing more, nothing less. Rohan Duck Breast: The duck itself was cooked well, but I wasn't a fan of the sausage, and the fennel seeds threw me off. I couldn't really get into it. Delicata Squash: This dish was INCREDIBLE. The squash had the perfect taste and texture, and the currants brought a delightful sweetness that paired beautifully with the hummus. The pinenuts added a lovely crunch that you don't usually get with squash--easily one of the highlights. Flan: Another star of the menu! Perfectly cooked flan with caramel dripping over it for the ideal touch of sweetness. The whipped cream was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the flan itself was a home run. Spiced Apple Cake: The cake, unfortunately, was quite dry. But the ice cream topping was so good, I could have eaten it on its own. In addition to the food, the service was fantastic--attentive, friendly, and efficient. The atmosphere felt intimate but not cramped, with beautiful decor that made the space feel warm and inviting. One standout detail was the Café Bustelo artwork on the wall. As soon as I saw it, I knew this restaurant had to be Latin-owned, and it added a personal, authentic touch that really made the space special. Best items on the menu: The Hamachi Crudo, Delicata Squash, and Flan are definitely the must-tries here.

Yelp
First time here, and love the decoration. It's a pretty small spot but I feel like they have plenty of seating. The service was good although the server didn't seem to hear us good. Server was nice. Could have been more attentive. The food was yummy. The drink was so good. I wished they would have fill it to the rim. Pretty pricey for drinks that aren't fill to the rim. I got the saffron bucatini- it was shrimp and beef pasta. So yummy. Very flavorful. My friend got the scallops and she loves it. The tomatoe salad was also very yummy. Nothing bad to say except little things here and there. And they do share parking but I did not park so I don't remember if it's free parking.

Yelp
Another awesome experience here! The food is unpretentious, approachable and damn good. I would eat my exact meal every week.... Tuna crudo, blue crab butternut squash ravioli, and spiced cake with ice cream that I never wanted to end. Service is excellent. Ambiance is small, northeast cozy neighborhood restaurant. I love it everytime!

Yelp
My husband and I returned to Customshop after reading that they are now one of the top restaurants in CLT. Our tastes have changed over the years and we now prefer smaller plates, which Customshop excels in. We started with two cocktails--the Sexy Red and Mary's Garden Fuel. The menu doesn't state this, but the Sexy Red is topped with an egg white foam. If you're allergic to eggs, be aware! I liked the flavors of the drink and appreciated that it wasn't too sweet, but the smell of the egg whites was a bit off-putting. My husband loved his Mary's Garden Fuel. They give you a small plate of their house made focaccia to start, served on top of salted olive oil. I thought it was one of the better breads we've been served at a restaurant! For our appetizer, we had the tuna crudo. It's a small portion, but was full of flavor. Since we visited in the summer with strawberries in season, ours had a strawberry ponzu sauce and finely chopped strawberries and cucumbers, with (I believe) their version of fried onions. It was delicious! For our entrees, I had the blue crab ravioli and my husband had the duck breast. While I'm not a fan of peas, the creamy puréed pea sauce was really good. The raviolis were a bit thin, but tasty regardless. I loved the crispy crumb topping. I couldn't eat the entire plate, so my husband happy ate the rest. My husband's duck breast was cooked medium-rare. He loved the flavor, and the butternut squash purée added a unique flavor. The duck sausage was also good. Overall, we were very pleased with the food and service. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We'll definitely return!

Yelp
Cute restaurant in the heart of Elizabeth, great for date night or a night out. Definitely make a reservation as it's on the smaller side. Food: recommend the ricotta cavatelli for pasta, burrata for appetizer (so fresh), and flan for dessert. The flan was amazing - my favorite part. Service was amazing and we had a great time!

Yelp
City vibe, casual yet upscale, unique menu. Made reservations on a Thurs night for my bride's birthday. It was a packed house. The dining room acoustics made for a louder than average dining room setting (we actually thought about leaving). Local IPA options were narrow (one)....more of a wine selection. We started with Beets ($15) appetizer and it was a great light option to get started. My bride ordered the Blue Crab Ravioli ($28) and she said it was hard to find/see actual crab. I went with the Ricotta Cavatelli ($28) and it seemed to be lacking flavor. Service was great. From my persective, the food experience didn't equate to the price.

Victoria B.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at Customshop. The wine selection is lovely, and menu was stack with fresh flavors and seasonal ingredients. We were pleased by our selections and the vibe was on point. Service was excellent!

Yelp
My mother, sister, and I dined here for my birthday dinner and were very pleased with our experience. I made a reservation via OpenTable, which I would highly recommend! The location is very nice and in a decent area. There is a free parking lot across the street, which is convenient! The interior has a rustic flair to it and the atmosphere is intimate. The service was good and quite attentive. They made sure our waters were filled, explained the flavors menu to us, and were very kind. To start, we ordered the empanadas and they offered complimentary focaccia in olive oil. The focaccia was light, with a saltiness to it. The empanadas were excellent! There were three empanadas and they included Mojo pork, aji panca, queso fresco, and espelette. The shell of the empanada was light, with a pastry crust quality to it. They had ample amounts of pork and the sauce complimented the smokiness of the pork. For our entrees we opted for the Canestri and the Sea Scallops. The canestri included Prosciutto cotto, Manchego cream, truffle butter, agrodolce, soft poached egg, gremolata. And let me just say this dish was divine! The manchego cream was very rich, the prosciutto cotto was plentiful, and the truffle butter tied all the wonderful flavors together. The sea scallops were excellent as well. Served with Carolina gold rice middlins, saffron, zephyr squash, and zucchini. The saffron gold rice had a nice texture to it and wasn't overpowering. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the zucchini and squash were subtle but, complimented the other flavors nicely. To finish the meal, we ordered the chocolate cake which included Strawberry ice cream, strawberry shortcake crumble, and a magic shell. We loved this dessert! The chocolate cake wasn't too heavy or rich, the homemade strawberry ice cream was so fresh, and the molten shell was the perfect touch! Overall, we had a very nice meal at Cuatomshop. The ambiance is really nice, the service is attentive, the food is of great quality, and the flavors are unique. Everything we ordered we were impressed with. The portion sizes were perfect as well. I would highly recommend dining here, especially for a special occasion!

Yelp
A delicious stop in the Elizabeth area of Charlotte. Service was great and food was really delicious. This chef has done a great job pairing flavors and it shows in his dishes.

Hazel S.

Yelp
3.5 is more accurate than 3. The overall volume of this place takes a full star away. We were basically yelling to hear each other over the noise. The service was top notch though. Food was both great and average. We got a bit of everything to eat family style. The tuna and hamache were great, the beef tartare not so much. Empanadas, sweet potatoes, and burrata were good. Scallops were great but the duck was a miss. All the desserts were great but the flan was our favorite.

Evan D.

Yelp
If you're in the Elizabeth neighborhood and have a hankering for a memorable dining experience, let me introduce you to Customshop. Owned by the talented Chef Andres Kaifer, this local gem prides itself on using fresh, local ingredients to craft dishes that are nothing short of delightful. With a menu that's both approachable and diverse, there's something to satisfy every palate. First things first: let's talk atmosphere. The noise level is lively and fits the vibrant vibe of the place. While the lighting might be a tad dim for some (flashlight-on-your-phone levels of dim), it adds to the cozy ambiance. Parking? A bit of a challenge, but fear not! There's a free parking lot right across the street. Now, onto the star of the show - the food. This was probably my second favorite meal in Charlotte, and that's saying something. The quality and quantity of the dishes make the reasonable prices feel like a steal. Everything, from the food to the service, was spot on. My waiter, Greg, who's been serving here for over seven years, was friendly, attentive, and made stellar suggestions throughout our meal. We kicked things off with the Empanadas - four crispy pockets of mojo pork heaven, nestled on a bed of aji panca sauce, topped with queso fresco and espelette. I broke the cardinal rule and didn't snap a pic, so you'll have to trust me on this one: they were hot, crispy, and generously stuffed with marinated meat that left me begging for more. For the main course, I took Greg's advice and ordered the Canestri pasta. Imagine snail-shaped pasta cooked to al dente perfection, with generous chunks of prosciutto cotto, bathed in Manchego cream and truffle butter, topped with agrodolce, a perfectly poached egg, and gremolata. Greg suggested using a spoon to ensure every bite was a perfect mix of sauce, pasta, and toppings. He wasn't wrong - this was one of the best dishes I've had since moving to Charlotte. My dining partner opted for the Sea Scallops, and boy, were they a hit. Seared to perfection, the scallops melted in our mouths. They came with a bed of Carolina gold rice middlins risotto, saffron, zephyr squash, and zucchini. My partner was thoroughly impressed, declaring it one of the best dishes they'd ever had. Dessert was a tough choice, with options like Chef Kaifer's mother's flan, chocolate cake with house-made strawberry ice cream, strawberry crumble with a chocolate magic shell poured on top tableside, and a carrot cake. We settled on the carrot cake, and it was a fantastic decision. The sweetness was perfectly balanced by the cream cheese frosting, pickled golden raisins, and walnut crumble. It was a bit small for sharing, but just enough to satisfy our sweet tooth. Customshop is ideal for solo dining, date nights, or gatherings with friends. If you have out-of-town guests, this is definitely a local spot to impress them with. Just make sure to reserve a table - this place is packed for good reason. Thank you, Chef Andres and Greg, for an unforgettable meal.

Yelp
1st time trying Customshop and it definitely lived up to the hype! The ambiance is very cozy. Service was incredible- super helpful in explaining dishes and giving recommendations. Finally the food was off the charts. Cocktails are excellent as well. For food, they give you complimentary focaccia in olive oil. We the burrata as an appetizer and the guava jam pairs very well with the other flavors. For entrees we shared the scallops and agnolotti pasta. All the food had incredible flavors. The scallops were cooked perfectly. For the pasta, I was expecting more of a soft ravioli and the outside was a bit harder but still tastes good, sweet and creamy. Excited to come back!

Lisa B.

Yelp
Best dining experience in Charlotte! Intimate setting and unique dishes. Great drink selection as well. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Julie P.

Yelp
We came here for dinner & made a res ahead of time. The place was quite packed but we were quickly seated. The blue crab ravioli and the beef carpaccio was phenomenal and I highly recommend it. If i came back it would be for those two especially the ravioli. It looks a lil sus but TRUST ME it is so delicious and bursting with flavor. We tried two other pastas. One was the saffron canestri and the other was ricotta cavatelli, but they both were unimpressive in my opinion. Then I had heard good things about the rohan duck and was really excited to try it but ours was quite chewy and the sauce just tasted like bbq sauce. It lacked lots of depth. We also tried the hamaci crudo which was kind of fishy in my opinion but our boyfriend's parents enjoyed it. Last we had ordered the halibut and the fish was just dry and kind of small portion wise. The server also kept changing our plates out several times and it kind of got in the way of conversation and seemed quite excessive and unnecessary. I expected more out of such a pricey place and was sad to find it didn't meet expectations.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of CustomShop and it's one of my go to places to go with friends. It has a quality menu with a variety of different items. To start I usually split the Burrata (Apple butter, escarole, pistachios, grilled focaccia) and it's the perfect portion for two people. It's also the perfect mix of cheesy and bread with an added crunch from the pistachios. For my main I am a huge fan of the roasted duck (Sunchoke puree, sour cherry demi, walnut crumble) and feel the sauce is the perfect companion piece along with the cherry and walnut. I also don't normally like cherries but it works in this meal. This time I also ordered the Broccolini (Parmesan, chili oil, gremolata) without the chili oil and was pleasantly surprised on how big the portions were! Definitely worth the $10, especially since I'm a big fan of to go. Overall, the service is usually pretty good here and the ambiance is perfect for either close friends or a date. I also like how I'm not constantly interrupted by the waiter/waitress throughout the meal. Allergy note: I have a severe peanut & crustacean allergy and as of Jan 2024, they were able to handle my allergies and I had no issues. Although I always recommend doing your own due diligence as it relates to allergies as each individual and situation is different.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally made it in for a date night with friends. We were able to get a Saturday night reservation a few days in advance, I'm not sure if there was walk-in availability but the place was pretty full. We ordered a bunch of shareable plates as well as a few of the pastas and everything was delicious. I loved the tuna crudo, it was a pretty small portion, but was completely delicious and had a really unique flavor. We also got the burrata which was good as well as the empanadas. My favorite dishes were the pastas. We got the saffron bucatini and the cavatelli ragu and I loved both of them. They were flavorful and the pastas were cooked perfectly. Overall a really great meal and I would definitely come back!

Nate A.

Yelp
One of the stranger places I've ever visited, Customshop has a menu that's all over the map. It has empanadas, red sauce pastas, white sauce pastas, flan, peach cake, steak tartare, sea bass, and tuna crudo on it. But don't get it twisted, there's a story behind most of the dishes that makes it make sense, but without that the menu could be misconstrued as unfocused. All the food we got was quite good with the fennel, guava jam, ciabatta, burrata dish taking the prize for our favorite (though the duck ragu was also well-crafted). The flan was also extraordinary. Our waiter - Greg - was knowledgeable and helpful. His recommendation of the sea bass to my wife wound up being her favorite dish of the night. The ambiance could use a bit of work. Nothing serious, but it just lacks something. Hard to put my finger on, but maybe the attempt at NOT over-designing the interior vibe is having the opposite effect of being sort of boring. All around, highly recommend this spot for good food, good drinks and quality service.

Rachel T.

Yelp
This is such a cute little place in Elizabeth! The service is great, the ambiance is great for a date night or girls night out- great music and mood lighting! We sat on the patio which was nice since we wanted a date night to catch up... we ordered apps, dinner and dessert and all were very good! Everything is farm to table so menu changes based on what's in season. Unique and different menu items - not a restaurant in your regular rotation, but special occasions for sure!

Vanessa S.

Yelp
There were 4 of us at my table, and we loved the food, it tasted very good. The service was good, our waiter was super calm and he didn't harass us. The atmosphere is romantic, a little small but that doesn't bother me.

Anne C.

Yelp
My friends and I were excited to try a new restaurant for our Girls' Night Out and Customshop did not disappoint! We managed to make a reservation, but upon arrival it was still very full, so I don't imagine being able to walk-in unless sitting at the bar. We mainly grabbed a lot of small bites to share and every single dish was delicious. Our favorites were the empanadas, the tuna crudo, and the olive oil cake was the perfect dessert!

Nazhat S.

Yelp
Wow what an incredible meal! Our group ordered basically the whole menu and really enjoyed just about everything. Service was friendly and steady, and the ambiance was hip and cool. I can't wait to return. Standouts on the menu: - Apple jam burrata - Heirloom tomatoes - Hamachi crudo - the four pastas - rib eye - flan

Wei C.

Yelp
My husband and I went for a date night. We had Empanadas as a starter, it was excellent, the pastry wrap was very nicely done, very light and tasty. We had duck and ordered beet as a side. It was delicious. I like the portion since it was not overly big; just the right amount. The waiter recommended the strawberry ice cream with chocolate shell and crumbles for dessert. It is definitely worthy of the calories. They also have interesting cocktails. We really loved this place. We will definitely go back again

Trinh L.

Yelp
The ambiance reminds me of NYC, it's exposed brick and dimmed lights. It's cozy. The food is amazing. Definitely worth the try for a date night or a solo dinner at the bar. It's priced well for the area. The servings aren't small but not too generous, the quality is what you're paying for. You can taste the complex flavors that is paired perfectly, and the presentation is a sight. We ordered the yellow Fin tuna, beets, the duck and the sea scallop, yummy. The service is attentive, not overly friendly or overly bearing, experienced staff.

Brittany D.

Yelp
Great great great! Never been and finally decided to try it with family from out of town. Our server, Abjiah (sorry for spelling), was fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable and made wonderful recommendations! Smaller restaurant but with a lot character with a nice looking bar! All the food options we ordered was fantastic!

Jeni E.

Yelp
Can I just say that the food here should win awards..... especially their appetizers! My family ordered the burrata, beets, and calamari, which were all divine!! All of our main dishes were very good. The chocolate cake was dry, but the flan was the best thing I put in my mouth all week! It is a loud atmosphere so don't take someone you are planning to have a deep conversation with. Service was excellent and the waiter knew his stuff! Would make this my go-to special occasion destination.

JP S.

Yelp
Customshop was an amazing experience! From the friendly staff to the welcoming ambiance. The playlist they had was absolute & the food was spot on! My favorite would have to be the blue crab ravioli & the pork empanadas. The drinks were perfectly crafted and that bread pudding dessert .... ! Leave room for it, you won't be disappointed. Will be back for sure and recommend this place 10/10

Daemon W.

Yelp
I was served the NC Tuna when I was here, which tasted great and was the perfect size. The prices were reasonable and our waitress was very nice. The ambience makes this a great place to go on a date night or any special occasion

Hanna H.

Yelp
Service top tier! Ambiance amazing. Cute and quaint! Highly recommend the blue crab agnolotti!!

Danielle K.

Yelp
Customshop was our favorite restaurant to visit while we stayed in Charlotte. The ambiance was romantic and the food was delicious. We ordered the beef tartare and empanadas to share. These starters were so tasty we didn't want it to end. We ordered the duck cavatelli and lobster ravioli for dinner. Both of the dishes also had so much flavor. We had flan for dessert and we both agreed we had never tasted flan like that before, it was perfectly made and the taste is unmatched. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back one day

Allison H.

Yelp
We looooved the Customshop! As far as food, everything we ordered was great. The menu rotates based on season, but there area a few things that stay on the menu (even if the sauce or something is slightly different). If you're ordering an app, the ham and cheese croquettes are to die for - mostly ham which we loved. They also strongly recommended the burrata but we didn't end up trying it. For entrees we got the duck and ribeye. The duck is a staple on the menu and was very good. The ribeye was cooked perfectly. Service was top notch, the server knew her stuff about the menu and was very attentive. The vibe was on the nicer side but they played upbeat music, so it was livelier than I expected in a good way! I'm already looking forward to coming back.

Kayla W.

Yelp
I'm so glad that I got to try Customshop for Valentine's Day. The ambiance they created was very romantic and intimate. Service was amazing. Our waitress was attentive and offered me a sample of a wine I was interested in but wasn't too sure if I'd like (which I did!) I didn't grab a picture but the Local Lettuce salad was a great start to the meal. The Shrimp Mafalde pasta was delicious and every noodle was covered in sauce which I love. The Duck Breast was cooked perfectly and the sauce complimented it well. I'm excited to try more dishes! I wish I could give half points because I would truly give this a 4.5 simply because the menu was a little small and may be hard to find things to try if you've got a stricter diet. They were very accommodating to allergies which was great.

Meredith L.

Yelp
We came to Custom Shop for my friends Bday Dinner and had a really great time. Most of us tried their version of an espresso martini and It was delicious! I got the crab ravioli which was rich and balanced. My friend got the Bucatini which was also great. The sauce has somewhat of a sweet component which was interesting, but tasty! We had a few starters and they were all great. We tried the Crudo, the potato croquettes, and the burrata. All were delicious but the Crudo was fresh and amazing! I wanted more. The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because of our waitress. She was a bit hot and cold with us and It was strange. There were 8 of us at a longer table and she kneeled down at the front of the table to take our orders and was very hard to hear. She seemed annoyed when we asked questions about some of the dishes etc. To me, the service and overall experience of a restaurant is just as important as the food. I would definitely come back for the food and cocktails alone.

Yelp
3.5 Limited menu with very rich appetizers entrees and desserts We made reservations but were greeted by an odd "were we expecting you?" Rather than a welcome. We had the beet and the burrata The burrata was very rich with very sweet cabbage and pistachios The beets were good but in both I could taste large pieces of salt flakes We had scallops ( 3 in a bed of risotto) and the mushroom stroganoff ( both good) Dessert was banana bread ( very mediocre) The oddest part was our server who barely gave us water and had a strange vibe about them. One suggestion would be to offer some tea

Yelp
Went to custom shop for a friends birthday dinner this past weekend. Everything was okay. The food was good for the most part but I didn't particularly love the risotto that came with the scallops as pictured. It was a bit soupy to be considered a risotto for me. The scallops were good. Told me would get four scallops and got three but they were still pretty good. We also had the peppers and burrata apps. Both were fine, but nothing mind blowing. Had a semi difficult time ordering with the waitress. Would really need to ask a lot of questions to get the responses we were looking for about the items. Service was slower than expected as well. Lots of waiting time. I felt overall, it was a bit overpriced for the experience and the food, but I would be interested in going back to potentially try more menu items.

Yelp
The Burrata is a MUST-TRY. Layered on top of peach butter, pistachios, and grilled bread. Not sure what they did to the bread, but it was the best grilled bread I've ever tasted. I loved the Blue Crab Ravioli, so much flavor and the perfect serving size. Loved the rustic ambiance and their big bar - great for drinks or dining solo. The Ricotta Gnocchi is house-made and delicious. All dishes are made from local and organic foods with weekly menu changes tailored around seasonal availability and seafood created around the weekly catch of a local fisherman.

Yelp
When I want a cozy and intimate dinner with amazing homemade pasta and delicious entrees, I think of Customshop. Each time I visit I'm reminded of how simple yet incredible each dish is. They really put flavorful intention behind their menu. And let's be honest, I just want to stuff my face with their focaccia bread!! The famous complimentary starter: Homemade Focaccia bread topped with flaky salt and pepper and sitting atop delicious olive oil If you know me, you know I love ordering pastas as an appetizer. This one is a can't miss: Sweet Potato Ravioli with shiitakes, crispy sage, walnuts, and balsamic (pro tip: ask for a side of focaccia and use it to dip and sop up the shiitake sauce) For a light and delicious entree: Red Snapper with lovely crispy skin on top of roasted mushrooms, chestnuts, and tarragon aioli GET THE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE It's comes ooey gooey warm and packed with chocolate chips!

Yelp
I'm not sure what the hype is about this place but I just don't get it. Food was average at best and if you don't eat meat, you should skip a visit here (not a single vegetarian option except a salad). Chef was not accommodating either as vegetarian options are considered a "dietary restriction". Ambiance is nice and service was good.

Yelp
Delight after delight! Come for the food, and don't plan to hustle through. Customshop takes care in prep and plating, and it seeks for you to enjoy the evening with whomever you're with. Everything we enjoyed was a hit: hamachi crudo, burrata, squid ink linguini, the scallops, the sides of broccoli and fries, and the brownie dessert. Plus, we had their two NA cocktails and we appreciated the offering to match the unfolding summer evening. We ate outside and loved it, but going inside to the restroom made us realize the inside is curated so well, too. Enjoy this place - foodies and couples will love the cuisine and the energy!

Yelp
I really want to like this place... has great location, cool vibe, friendly staff... but the food is just ok... is not bad but is definitely not great. Been there several times and always leave with the same feeling

Yelp
Ate at Customshop on 5/25/24. Food was quite good; service was good. Noise was awful. Could hardly hear what my wife was saying just across the table. Despite the good food & good service, we will not be returning to this restaurant due to the noise. There are things restaurants can do to dampen & minimize noise. They just have to be willing to do it.

Yelp
Enjoyed a nice dinner here with friends. The group I was with are regulars here so that speaks to the quality of the the food. Service was excellent. Food was very good. Easy street parking on a weeknight.

Yelp
Easily one of the best restaurants in Charlotte next to Peppervine. We eat here once a week or once every other week and have not had a bad meal yet highly recommend.

Yelp
Disappointing for sure. Caution for anyone sensitive to spicy food! There's no warning on spice levels and wasn't even asked about allergies or taste profiles by our waiter. Even with the hot spice, the flavor of my pasta was rather bland. Burrata was good though, and the tartare was just average. Def not worth a trip back and recommend checking out other spots in Charlotte.

Yelp
Best food I've had in Charlotte. They have a smaller menu, but make every dish absolutely amazing. If you're visiting Charlotte and looking for somewhere to dine that's guaranteed to be great--dine at Customshop. Scallops, empanadas, deserts, drinks...all were incredible.

Yelp
Dropped in to check out the bar before a show at Visualite. Nice fit and finish. Grabbed the bench at the bar, ordered drinks for our party of four. While waiting for drinks, hostess asked us to stand outside in December with drinks because the bar is reserved. Meanwhile restaurant was half empty at 6:30p on a Friday night. No thanks, this place takes itself too seriously. This is Charlotte y'all, not Miami or Vegas.

Yelp
I've been to customshop no less than two dozen times in the decade I've lived in CLT...my visit last week was a really awful, disappointing experience. Same note as another recent review about the hostess being so RUDE, not blonde but dark curly hair. It was my friends birthday and she asked for a booth (5:45p, EMPTY restaurant) the hostess was so rude + condescending. I had just booked our reservation on Open Table + there were openings every 15 mins the entire night, but this young woman decided the best approach was to be rude + unhelpful. That was our foreshadowing for the rest of the meal. The waiter was short, curt and the more we tried to be light + fun (because BIRTHDAY) the less he engaged. The food was totally mediocre-- the 4 scallops I ordered were in a too sweet, too tangy pool of what tasted like French dressing. My friend's ribeye was fine, just ok. Too many competing sauces but fine. The salad we split had no flavor, was under seasoned + underdressed. My friend did share feedback with the hostess as we left, which I'm sure wasn't pleasant. I also learned that customshop was sold somewhat recently. Which explains so much. I highly doubt the former owner would ever stand for this subpar service or food. Save your money + drive to Kindred.

Yelp
My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally got the chance tonight. To start off, there is ample parking (in Charlotte standards), which is rare, especially around Elizabeth/Plaza Midwood/etc. We had a 9:00 reservation (we had few options due to making it same day, not their fault) and were seated pretty much right at 9. Highlights: - The ambiance - Really great interior design. Just enough light for an intimate dinner. The only drawback is some of the booth seats you'll get a flash of white light from the kitchen door opening. - Cocktails - If I had to bet all of them are good but my wife got the C2 and the Pina and loved both, which says a lot because she tends to be pretty particular about cocktails. I got the Chef's Negroni (I think they call it a Beltroni or something on the online menu) which is a negroni made with rum and it was incredible. I'm actually going to start ordering negronis this way in other restaurants/bars because of it. - Agnolotti - This dish is fantastic. It's new to the menu. I RARELY order dishes that don't contain meat but took the waiter's word that I wouldn't miss it and I didn't. The flavors in the dish are so complex. The menu says "tomato broth" but it's color is browns o I'm not sure what's going on their but it is divine. I could drink it, it's that good. I'm very glad I ordered this dish but next time I'll be trying to rigatoni. Decent: - Burrata - I have really high standards for burrata because Ever Andalo exists in Charlotte and they have the best burrata I've ever had. This had a lot going on and the flavors were really good BUT the burrata is served on top of the bread, so it becomes a little soggy and difficult to cut (even with the steak knife they give you). The other drawback is the burrata itself is served cold. I've had this happen before at Figo and I just don't prefer it. Regardless, it wasn't bad and I don't think I'd deduct a star for that. - Blue Crab Ravioli - This might be on us for the ordering choice because anytime you have crab/lobster ravioli you might as well just say its cheese ravioli in that you can rarely taste any of the shellfish. That said, its enjoyable to eat, nothing wring with it. The corn pairs with it nicely. It just won't be a completely unique dish that you would remember like the agnolotti is. Overall, worth the money, in my opinion. I can't wait to try their sister restaurant, Flour Shop.

Yelp
We loved our experience and every dish we tried - burrata, croquettes, duck, ravioli & scallops. My drink, naked & afraid, was great. The ambiance is dark and warmly lit, perfect for date night!

Yelp
Great experience. The food was excellent. This was shared between 2 people and we felt satisfied but not stuffed. Good service. Wine was fantastic. Atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable.
