"Since 1979, Doña Maria Tamales has been the go-to destination for any local craving. Housemade tamales are filled with savory options like pork, chicken with green sauce, cheese, or beef and a sweet variety with pineapple and raison tucked into its succulent masa. From morning through night, diners feast on breakfast chilaquiles; lunch combos with options like tostadas, burritos, tacos, and enchiladas; chicken dressed in deep brown mole; and steaming bowls of tortilla soup. Weekends bring caldo de camaron, a rejuvenating Mexican soup filled with shrimp." - Janna Karel

My tamales were delicious. I had 1 chicken and 1 beef. Both were very good. The rice is full of flavor. It was about $17 for the meal, which is reasonable. Tania the cashier was very nice and friendly. I will definitely go back.

Stopped by for a late lunch around 130pm and was pleasantly surprised by the prompt service we received. The staff were friendly, attentive, and overall wonderful. The tamale, enchilada rice, and beans plate I ordered were absolutely mouthwatering 🤤! The order was served hot, freshly made, and flavorful. The tamale was tender and made to perfection 👌 . The enchilada was just incredible in flavor and stuffed with shreades of chicken. The chips and salsa served were fresh and not overly salty. This was a very enjoyable dining experience, and I can't wait to return. The best part is that parking was free and plentiful around the property. You will love ❤️ 😍 the food here. Give it a try.

We loved the feel of this restaurant as much as the food. Service was very friendly and incredibly fast.

Doña Maria Tamales Restaurant in Las Vegas is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere. The tacos here are simply outstanding – bursting with authentic flavors and made with love. I tried nopales tacos for the first time! Five out of five stars! The menu offers a variety of options to cater to different tastes, and everything is cooked to perfection. I had a frozen margarita, and it was absolutely delicious. The service is top-notch, with attentive staff who ensure you have a wonderful dining experience. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this place is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious Mexican cuisine. I can't wait to go back and try more of their mouthwatering dishes.

I haven't been here in a while. My sister came in from out of town. I suggested that we go here for dinner and drinks. The drinks were great, but the cold tamale that my sister ordered, was horrible. I was so embarrassed and disappointed. Oh well, at least the drinks were strong and good.

Google
Contrary to the last reviewers, comments, the Menudo was bomb💣 I chose to have my meal with the “pata” and it brought the flavor up another notch Coming from LA this was just like home and moms food..my wife elected to try the chilaquiles w/ huevos estrellados and she enjoyed it as well. My new go to spot when visiting Vegas.

Google
Awesome! The waitress was super friendly, explained anything I didn't understand, and even let me try the Horchatta before buying it (it was incredible, and I drank like 4 glasses). Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, we went back the next day, and exact same service. Food is delicious! Very nice portion sizes too

Yelp
Miguel greeted us immediately upon entrance for lunch. He was also our server. Super polite and always smiled. The restaurant was a nice representation of authentic Mexican culture. The murals on the walls and the music were far from TexMex. Before we can even open our menus we were being served with chips and salsa which we devoured. I saw on the menu that they're known for their tamales so I decided to try a chicken tamale along with a chicken enchilada and chicken taco. Notice a theme? The taco was crispy just as I like. The enchilada with verde sauce was exceptional. I was also reminded why I never order tamales. I'm just not a fan. I've never met a tamale I liked actually so it's nothing against Doña Maria. It's just not my cup of tea. Overall the meal was great and the service and ambience were delightful. Looking forward to coming back and ordering more tacos.

Yelp
Unfortunately, the food taste packaged and microwaved. Not very flavorful and it was served warm, but not hot. The staff is absolutely wonderful and it's a very beautiful location. I just don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

Yelp
Today I ate at Dona Maria Tamales restaurant off Las Vegas blvd. This eatery was founded on love, love for family, and love for making authentic Mexican food. I ordered the lunch special, a chicken, tamale and enchilada. This filling lunch came with beans, rice, and tortillas. First bite I could tell this was a special dish. Our server, Gabriella was very pleasant and did an excellent job taking care of our table. She also tolerated my attempt at broken Spanish. I enjoyed the many murals and paintings on the wall of old Mexico .

Karen D.

Yelp
I was recently here for an event. Gotta tell you, the staff was great and the food delicious!! I would definitely come again! Great job Dona Maria Tamales!! Outstanding!

Yelp
Really about 2 1/2 stars, but 3 is too generous. Went in at 5 pm on a Tuesday night and only one other patron was in the restaurant..this scared us a little and we almost walked out, but decided to stay. Ordered two beers, a Bohemia and a XX Lager..both of these were cold and delicious. Our waiter took our order..super friendly and also upon request brought us some seriously hot salsa that actually saved these meals we were about to order. We got two tamales, one chicken one beef combo and the other a la carte. Soup came with the meal with a choice of 3 different ones..I got the tortilla soup...by far this was the highlight of the whole meal. Tamales came out and boy were they bland..like instead of cooking the meats in spice, it was like they boiled the meat with no spice..it was just horrible. It is too bad, as the masa was pretty good and the filling so disappointing...we just doused the tamales in the super hot sauce and it covered the overall bland taste. Beans and rice were just OK. Chips and regular salsa were just OK as well, the salsa was like tomato sauce it was so bland. I wanted to like this place because I love tamales..but I will never return. What a shame.

Yelp
From the outside, the place looked closed. (Weekday lunch) But what a difference inside! Warm, festively decorated with murals, and the place is big! The service was attentive and friendly. The star was the food! The starter chips are made in house, and they were great, as was the salsa. We had tamales, of course, and tacos. The pork tamales were a good size, and very tasty. The chipotle sauce on the side had a nice kick. The carnitas (soft), chicken (crunchy), and ground beef (crunchy) tacos were all also good. This is a great place for an old-school, Mexican restaurant experience. Highly recommend.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Excellent service and best fish tacos I've ever had!!!!!! We ordered tamales to go and they were BOMB!!! Go by and give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

Melissa G.

Yelp
Can't beat the good and prices here. If you're looking for foo foo fancy Mexican then this isn't for you. However, if you want authentic comfort food Mexican, then this is it! We order the tamales every year for Christmas Day and they are fantastic. We get the pork ones but I'm sure they are all great. They don't skimp on the meat like many tamales do. I can't say enough good things about them. My favorite item is the Chile Relleno. OMG, I love it so much! Honestly, I've tried lots and none compares. The service is always great and the good comes out quickly. The homemade chips and tortillas are really great. I love their salsa as well. Stop by and check this place out!

Yelp
Came here with a friend who recommended it after a great experience a year or two ago. This is down the street from "Pawn Stars", there are two entrances to the parking. The interior was roomy with a lot of open spaces in between the tables. It was nice and quiet and we got the seated near the kitchen with the giant TV. Our waitress was Magaly, she introduced herself, gave us time to review the menu, was courteous and responsive with knowledge to the questions. The services provided by the waitress were amazing and the food was great. My friend ordered the Chilaquiles with New York Steak and Horchata. I ordered the Huevos con Chile Verde with coffee, I am glad I did not order more since the portion size was huge. The pork was tender and came apart perfectly, the sides was good, the coffee was fresh and hot. From the timeframe it took to order and for the food to be presented only took about 7-10 mins. The restroom were clean, it did not smell, it was quiet, the floors were not

Fe A.

Yelp
The place wasn't busy at all for a Friday night which is a plus in my book. You can tell it was very clean. Service was welcoming and very attentive. I liked all the food we ordered (tamales, meatball soup, refried beans) with the spicy margaritas being the best!! The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the carne asada: it was really chewy, unflavored, and lots of tendons, which didn't make it worth the $25 I paid for. Overall I would come back but I would probably stick to burritos / tamales.

Mari H.

Yelp
I have been eating here for years best service and food this soup is like homemade and the tamales are the best in Las Vegas this place is our family's favorite we come here for a lot of our celebrations you call always call ahead when you have a large party

Koryn G.

Yelp
Went for a friends birthday dinner but had been here before. I was surprised it wasn't more busy for a Friday night but enjoyed a table more private in the back for my friends birthday. I ordered the beef chimichanga and peach margarita...both delicious and filling. Love how bright and colorful it is decorated inside and outside the restaurant. Staff is awesome and friendly! Always willing to go back even if just celebrating that it's the weekend:)

Carol K.

Yelp
Food here is great, it's consistently good every time we come and we come often! My favorite time to go is Monday morning! That may seem weird but it's my husband's weekend and I'm now retired so we plan our meals and fun activities on Mondays. They are open early and have a full menu and bar. It's not usually crowded then but come later like for lunch or dinner and you may have to wait! We have our usual table and our usual server. She's great and always keeps our drinks and our chip bowl full. I love tamales and that's what they are known for. They have savory and sweet. I usually get a pork tamale with green sauce. Some days I skip the tamales and get a cheesy relleno. All the menu items are great. Food service is good, atmosphere is great. I recommend this place. This is the original location the other one is in Summerlin, been there and I feel the food is good, we just prefer the downtown location.

Marsha B.

Yelp
Food was really good, we have been ordering the tamales for years and this was the first time sitting down to eat, definitely enjoyed it and the service was great

Danny T.

Yelp
I just keep coming back. My Mother introduced me to this spot a few months ago, to be honest I was a little upset that she has been coming for years and I was just finding out about it lol First I'll start with the FOOD, it's Amazing! The name definitely says what they are known for and I can honestly say they have the best tamales I have ever had. They are so flavorful and have just enough masa with tons of meat inside of them just how I like them. I also love the menudo with a side of pata. The menudo is so flavorful and it comes with all the works (tortillas, lemon, oregano, onions). The pata is extra and ordered on the side but I highly recommend together. Ohhhh and they make some great margaritas too ;) Service: Incredible! You walk in and are immediately greeted. Every time I have gone the wait has not been any longer than 1-2min (Thank god). They do get busy but the staff is so good at what they do that the service is on point and people are in and out before you know. The staff is so knowledgeable on the menu and the drinks that they can always recommend things if you're indecisive. Location: What I do know it's about 20 min drive from the Airport and also about a 25 min walk from the North Las Vegas Outlet. Place has a big parking lot, so no need to worry about parking wars. Since I have discovered this place from my mother I can no longer visit Vegas without starting my day here. A stop by and support a local and amazing restaurant if your ever in Sin City! SYoY! Enjoy!

Tony M.

Yelp
Place continues to provide great food and services Magaly is awesome From tamales to menudo You will find it it at great prices

PonyBoy G.

Yelp
Gabriella is a wonderful server with great customer service skills. Good is tasty and free unlimited coffee refills...I had 7 cups! Lol

Aleeya W.

Yelp
First, let me start by apologizing for forgetting to take photos of the menu. I hope you'll be able to forgive me . We went here w/ a large part of 7 for a celebration. The service was nice, nothing to complain about. They start w/ bringing you fresh chips and salsa, both were fantastic. For my main course, I ordered the veggie fajita meal and I'm going to be honest, I didn't like it. I'm not to sure what the flavor I was tasting on the veggies was, but I wasn't a fan. It came with rice, beans, a guacamole sour cream mix, a salad, & the option of corn or flour tortillas (I got flour). Everything else I was served was good. The decor, that I also didn't get photos of, was inviting. I would recommend this establishment if you're looking for a casual dining experience.

Jackie P.

Yelp
Their menudo is the best I've tried in Vegas. I like this location better than the other as it is more open and seems a lot bigger. The drinks are okay, ask for top shelf tequila if you don't like the cheap house tequila. The staff is friendly and attentive. They always get my order correct despite having a picky kid. My son loves the Tamale enchilada with an egg on top. Overall, I'd recommend this place for authentic Mexican food.

Lupe R.

Yelp
Overpriced for the quality of food . Sure they have Mexican dishes but the taste is not authentic. You could get a more rich and better worth for your money at a taco stand .

Anthony M.

Yelp
Food is good.service is ok some drinks had no ice..As server how could you bring that to a table? And the hostess was under the weather please stay home and don't put others at risk of getting sick....

Courtenay S.

Yelp
The chips (with salsa) tasted really fresh. Had the pork and chicken tamales and those were really good. The chilaquiles was not what I was hoping for. Should have put the steak on the side, but it was loaded with so much cheese it drowned out the chilaquiles. The spot is huge with a lot of room and service was on point. Everything was so quick. I would go again, but would order a different main dish.

Nancy B.

Yelp
I've always wanted to try this restaurant and had a friend visiting from Liverpool, UK and she said she'd love some Mexican food. It was an off time, past lunch but very early for dinner and when we walked in, the place just felt and even smelled so amazingly clean that I was immediately happy. We had Miguel as our server and he was friendly and very helpful. I decided to have breakfast and since I don't eat meat I chose Huevos a la Mexicano and my mate ordered ground beef quesadilla. We were both extremely satisfied with the quality of our meals and the portions were very generous. She had a frozen margarita and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I plan to come back again soon and will bring others for this great food and ambiance.

Hugh M.

Yelp
The best tamales in the city, by far. This has been my favorite tamale spot for over 15 years. Delicious every single time. Always super friendly and prompt service as well. I would say some of the best margaritas in the city also. Ask for tajin instead of salt! Highly recommended.

Margaret F.

Yelp
Excellent tamales and service. Great parking. It's been in Las Vegas for many years. All good.

Dwain J.

Yelp
This place is not in the best location in Las Vegas but it is excellent. The food was great. The service is great. I can't say enough about it. I'll definitely be back on my next trip.

Jacqueline L.

Yelp
I've been here about a million times and never get pictures, because the second they put the food in front of me I'm in there lol... BUT! I remembered today, I honestly only ever have great things to say about this place, I've tried almost everything on the menu it's all delicious.... Family atmosphere, clean and always greeted by a friendly staff... if you haven't eaten here yet I highly recommend trying it, you won't be disappointed.... Today I got queso fundido, margaritas ( so good! ) tamales and rice/beans... expect to leave here full....

Donald C.

Yelp
Been dining here for forty years. The Las Vegas Blvd. location seems more consistent as far as the food goes. Boxing memorabilia on the walls, it's colorful and festive. Been here several times recently with different people and everyone gives "thumbs up ". My favorite is the chicken tamale with a chile relleno, with rice and beans of course. I recently tried the tamales at one of "The Best of Las Vegas " eateries-Ha!, they were *#&@ compared to Dona Marie's!

Madeleine L.

Yelp
Good food and solid service. Only issue is that it is in a not great location. Homeless people wander inside a lot. During our meal, there were 3. I don't have anything against homeless people but when they yell and cuss, I don't necessarily feel safe. Staff handled it well though.

Virginia L.

Yelp
Love the food the tamales are so big a good we got pork and cheese tamales. My husband had the caldo de res I love the flavor of the food had to get something for the road to. Love all the hand painted drawings on the wall. The service was great will not disappoint.

Linda J.

Yelp
I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and reached out to Neriza, the owner, about gluten-free options as I am a Celiac. I was interested in trying a tamale, but the regular tamales have wheat flour, but Neriza said she could make a GF batch as I was reaching out about a month before my trip to Las Vegas. I had been bouncing off the walls for a month that a restaurant was willing to make me a special meal! We had our tamale feast on 29SEP2023. This was my 1st time having tamales, and wow, they are big and filling. I had two pork tamales and had to leave a bit or two on my plate as I was stuffed! Will definitely visit again if we are back in Vegas. Maybe just one tamale next time so I have room for flan. I forgot to take photos as I was so excited about trying a tamale.

Anna R.

Yelp
I've been going to Dona Maria's since I was a kid My husband and I went there this evening for dinner and the food was on the cool side. Enchiladas were good but the nachos not so much there was way too much cheese on them. Maybe take it easy on the cheese. Other than that all good.

David K.

Yelp
The best food ever. I swear the ambiance, the people, and how the service was patient and swift. I was expecting something subpar but it is beyond phenomenal. This place only has two locations? It should be a chain in vegas! Olivia and the manager Naf are the best. I would recommend this place to everyone. You want mexican food, and a lot then you gotta be here to get it.

Jenn F.

Yelp
I've never been to Doña Maria's and I've lived in Vegas forever it seems. A few friends wanted to meet up for lunch so they chose to go here. It's been around since 1980...that speaks volumes since that was over 41 years ago. I figured if they're still around, the food must be great! If the walls could talk, it would definitely have a lot of history to tell. The building is much older and it has the feels of an old neighborhood from the 50s, very charming and nostalgic. It's very colorful inside, reminded me of my trip to Cancun several years ago. It definitely takes you back to Mexico with the decor, the ambience , music and employees who are fluent in Spanish and English. They serve you with chips and salsa as you wait for your server to take your order and give you refills (yeah, baby!) I wasn't sure what to order so I decided on 3-piece taquitos. I don't eat heavy lunches when I'm working so I figured this would be perfect. If you're not familiar with taquitos, they may seem a bit dry. However, they are made in corn tortillas with your choice of meat then fried. They served them with a bed of shredded lettuce, a nice sized amount of guacamole (uh, yes please!) and sour cream. I just mixed them together then scooped them with my taquitos. It was good but I will venture on to a different meal if I return for dinner instead of lunc (I was seriously stuffed!). I recommend this for lunch if you're not a big eater like me.

Melonie R.

Yelp
I stopped in today to Dona Maria and was sadly disappointed with the waiter and service. I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad with tomato and avocado, no cheese, no croutons and a cheese enchilada with a glass of water. The cup of water had white floaties in it so I asked for a bottled water. When the salad came it had no tomatoes with dry, thin cold, grilled chicken pieces. Ugh! I walked the salad over to the waiter and reminded him I wanted tomatoes. They put a bunch of diced tomatoes on top and I started to chow down then noticed the salad had croutons which I didn't want so I had to individually pick all the croutons out. When the water came over to ask if everything was okay I mentioned the salad had croutons in it that I didn't want and that I had removed. His response was to ask, "But is everything ok?" I just said yep and continued eating then later asked for the bill. I couldn't bring myself to leave a tip after this and highly doubt I'll return.

Alexis B.

Yelp
Last night my children and I went to eat here. We use to come here when they were younger for the tamales. Food has always been great. Never had issues. Last night same thing with the food. Food was great tasting for what we got. I ordered some tortilla soup though and it didn't seem like tortilla soup. There was no chicken at all only chicken brother with cheese and tortillas. My daughter ordered some soup she never got and my other daughter ordered a horchata and by the time the server remembered they had ran out and only has enough for refills for people. It just seemed like the server was off a bit. Not sure if he had a long day before we got there but I hope he didn't charge us for the food we didn't get. He also had a bit of an attitude. Seemed like he was trying to rush through the names of food to mess with us. My son knows Spanish and I know a bit but we couldn't understand the waiter because he was speaking fast and running things together. I might go back for a Togo order but didn't like the service

Geneva L.

Yelp
If you are looking for fresh authentic tamales this is your place. The meat to masa ratio is spot on. I have tried the pork and chicken tamales. I ordered a dozen of the chicken and a dozen of the pork and it hurt my wallet a bit. I think the price is a bit steep for their tamales but I think they are marked up due to how many people order them

Richard C.

Yelp
Excellent service Excellent food we've been coming here for more then 12 yrs and it's always awesome thank you for all the great memories

Chris D.

Yelp
I had lunch here about a week ago. I ordered the Enchilada Plate and believe me, it was huge. I can't eat it all. It comes with one of their tamales. Hummm, I've had a lot better. Too large and a lot of masa with some pork. I didn't find it very good and only ate about half of it. I would rate the tamale a 1.5 star. I'm from Texas, so I know good tamales. This doesn't cut it despite the hype and ads. However, the enchilada was good and the rice and beans were OK as well. I will probably return, but I'm on a quest to find the best tamales in Las Vegas. I'll keep looking.

Silvia G.

Yelp
Good service. Would not visit again. Okay food but nothing special. I had the chicken tamal in "spicy" green salsa and it was terrible. Not spicy and dry, no flavor...I think Doña Maria would disappointed in the quality of food. Beef taco was okay, menudo nothing special, albodinga soup passable. 3 starts for good service and coffee.

Bri C.

Yelp
My mother and I went after the Veterans Day parade. There was 1 table in the whole restaurant. All the servers were new,no one knew the menu or were able to answer any questions. We order seafood enchiladas . Food came out cold. Horrible service

rachel m.

Yelp
This place is delicious! The portions are large so recommend getting half sizes if available but everything I've gotten is so good. The staff is very friendly and the decor feels homey and local. Highly recommend!

Sherrie C.

Yelp
This is my favorite Mexican food restaurant in town. We have been eating here for years. Everything I've had has been good. Enchiladas, tacos, salsa guacamole, you can't go wrong.

Sergio T.

Yelp
A Vegas staple for sure. There may be a lot of "Fancier" Mexican restaurants in town and most of them just don't last. Doña's has proven that good food and quality service are still what we want.

Christine G.

Yelp
Outstanding! My absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in Las Vegas! Established in 1980 and I've been dining since 1987! Service and food is authentic and the best! Yes, masking enforced upon entering and leaving. Tables spaced out. Our server is one of the best! I'll get his name next time! Very attentive. Food delicious and rich. I love the homemade chips and tasty salsa. All of our entrees were delicious! See you soon and thank you! Located at East Charleston and LVBlvd. Highly recommend

David K.

Yelp
We have been visiting Dona Maria Tamales in Summerlin for 14 years. We have always enjoyed the food, but their margaritas are outstanding - the best in Vegas! For holiday parties and New Years Eve we get a bunch of delicious tamales. We and our guests have not been disappointed. Their staff does not experience the turnover seen at many restaurants, so they know us by name. Our water and Margaritas appear at out table in minutes! Our favorite is shrimp fajitas, extra shrimp. It is plenty for 2 people.

Yomary G.

Yelp
Service was good and the ambiance was missing background music. I was disappointed with the food the tamales are average, their guacamole is not fresh, I had the camarones al ajo and they were terrible no flavor and sour just bad taste the steak was average too.

Kelsie E.

Yelp
As the name would suggest, they have some absolute bomb tamales. Salsa was fresh and spicy. Chips were hot and crispy. Margaritas were tasty.

Lionel V.

Yelp
Here in Vegas for my twin brothers wedding and this place was recommended to us by the Paradise Weddings. It's a good sized restaurant that could accommodate 20 of plus other patrons. The food was average at best except for the Fajitas, they were very good, everything else just average.
