"I raced over to Döner Haus as soon as it opened late last month. It looked really cool, with a black facade, lots of yellow neon signage, and a window that dispensed platters and sandwiches, with no indoor seating." - Robert Sietsema

Döner Haus offers tasty, Berlin-inspired döner kebabs with juicy meat, fresh veggies, and crispy bread. The portions are generous, service is quick, and the modern setting adds to the experience. Great spot for a satisfying, casual meal with authentic flavors and good value.

Because we lived in Germany for 3years, I've been wanting a doner box since I came back to America (3years ago). This place def scratched my itch! Could've used more seasoning/flavors and they didn't have lamb only chicken and beef, I got both mixed. We were greeted when we walked up. They took our order relatively fast but it T ook a minute to get the food. We were able to get parking right in front. Not a sit down restaurant. Would recommend! They offer military discount as well.

We usually love Doner Haus. Great sandwiches with great flavor. Today, after picking up my order and opening it up at home to enjoy my sandwich in privacy I took a bite to find something I could not chew. It was a burnt piece of PLASTIC INSIDE my sandwich. I called doner haus and an automated machine answered instead. I tried to complain on their website but they have not replied and you cannot upload photos on to their website. I’m posting this on everywhere I can review because this is unacceptable!!! The least doner haus can do is issue a public apology and a refund. Do not eat from this place unless you want to die from a serious choking hazard! I can only imagine the deplorable kitchen conditions if this huge piece of plastic made it into the sandwich.

Google
I LOVED this place!! The sandwich and the loaded fries were to die for, I’m so sad we don’t have a location in my city. This is definitely going to be a go-to for me every time I’m in New York.

I live in the suburbs of Philly and originally come from Turkey, so I know a good döner when I taste one—and Döner Haus nails it! Their Berlin-style döner is absolutely delicious and reminds me of the ones I’ve had back home and in Germany. The meat is flavorful, the bread is perfect, and the sauces take it to the next level. Every time I’m in New York, I make sure to stop by—it’s a must! Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic döner.

As a German expat, this was the first time I've had an authentic Döner outside of Germany that truly tasted like home. Döner Haus nailed the fundamentals — bread, meat, and sauce — in a way no other place in NYC has come close to. Other known spots like GDK and Kotti left me disappointed, even insulted. They don't come close to what a proper Döner from Western Germany should taste like. Let's not even speak about all the Shawarma spots... That said, here are a few suggestions to build on the already strong foundation: Improve Presentation and Interaction: Instead of preparing Döner in the back, consider a glass counter setup where customers can see the salad, toppings, and sauces being added to the Döner. This interaction is a huge part of the experience in Germany — plus, the fresh ingredients on display are visually very attractive for walk-by traffic. Offer "Mit Scharf?" Option: In Germany, almost every Döner Bude asks if you want it "mit scharf" ("with spice"). A simple optional spicy powder would go a long way in making the experience feel even more authentic. The powder is no replacement for the spicy sauce. Offer Green Jalapenos Peppers as Extra: Most Döner shops in Germany also add one or two green Jalapeno peppers to the Döner for those who explicitly ask for it during the Döner preparation at the counter. It’s not mandatory, but having this as an option would have been the personal cherry on top during my last visit. Thank you for bringing a real piece of home to NYC — I’ll definitely be back and I'm excited to see Döner Haus continue to grow!

Google
So so so delicious! We got the mixed lamb and chicken, and it was amazing, though I would choose just one of the meats next time as it was a bit heavy for me. The fries were very crispy and good. I loved the sauces in the doner. This may be one of the best doners I’ve tasted in NY. Hard to get a seat though since they only had a few tables outside.

Google
Wow this place is SO GOOD 🔥 I ordered a chicken doner sandwich and fries without realizing how huge the portions were, but I’m not complaining because it tasted amazing. Everything seemed very fresh and good quality.

Yelp
Best Döner I ever had in the U.S. Exactly the way as I remembered during my teenage times in Germany

Yelp
I am going to Germany next week so I wanted to try this out to compare for my future trip. I showed my friend this and she already noticed many differences between this and authentic döner from Berlin. She told me they usually use lamb not beef and that the price here is double the price in Germany. I wanted to try it anyway even if it's not as authentic as what the store seems to portray it to be. The breading could hardly contain it. My friend told me the bread is thinner than she'd get. It seems everything is just cheaper in quality but more expensive in price here. The bread was way too oily too and some parts of it were kind of hard or too chewy. The meat tasted like the lamb/beef from halal carts. They give a lot of meat but idk, at $14 after tax I was not too impressed. The sauce was okay. Tasted a bit like mayo and garlic. It was good but not something I would get again.

Yelp
I went here for the first time and the experience was wonderful. The food was on point, great customer service and the Manager Joey was very polite. Great conversation while still doing his job. He made sure everything was perfect. I recommend this spot to everyone and i will most definitely go back.

Jose M.

Yelp
Very well worth it, 1st time trying it and yes I will be going back for more DELICIOUS!!

Vanessa A.

Yelp
Take out window only. No seating. Only 2 high top tables to stand at outside. It seems like they'd get even more business if they had seating. I ordered the original Doner combo, which cost about $18.50 (including an additional sauce). I got the mixed meat. The beef was the standout. The flavors!!! They put a little too much sauce on my sandwich though. Although that didn't stop me from dipping all the fries in the extra side of sauce that I got. The sandwich was more than enough for me too! Just as good the next day (minus the soggy bread, which wasn't my fav either).

Ashani D.

Yelp
Shit was ehh I thought it was a pornhub stand lowkey the food wasn't bad per say but it didn't blow me away either I prolly won't ever stop here again but I'm sure I'm not there target demographic

Roma B.

Yelp
Found this place on a food vlog, got the loaded fries with extra sauce on the side. The toppings complimented the meat really well and the red sauce was spicy! Portion was huge too. Can't wait to get these loaded fries again!

Wei H.

Yelp
Got the original sandwich with chicken. They put meat on one end and lettuce on the other side, instead of layering. So towards the end, all I tasted was lettuce. Chicken itself is flavorful. The fries is pretty good. Some special seasoning. Take out only. Staff is friendly. Service is quick.

Taylor E.

Yelp
Ordered via UberEats as I saw the Buy 1, Get 1 Free offer. Amazing Wrap! I ordered the Mixed Doner Wrap which has such fresh and beautifully seasoned halal beef and chicken, alongside fresh veggies and their signature garlic sauce. The wrap is very hearty which I appreciated. The bite was just as good the next day when I heated up my other wrap in the oven. Definitely will be ordering from them again.

Yong K.

Yelp
Delicious, large portions, fairly priced. Highly recommend. I got the doner with mixed and it was very flavorful and I was quite full from it. Def would stop by again if in area and wanted a quick bite

Yelp
Döner Haus in NYC is a delightful find, reminiscent of the döners from Germany that I've been missing since 2005. Finally, a taste that brings back memories of authentic German döner! Highly recommend for anyone craving a taste of Germany in the heart of NYC.

Vanessa S.

Yelp
If you are craving döner like you once had in Berlin... well you don't have to go too far anymore since Döner Haus now will satisfy that craving! The service is just like Germany where you just walk up to the counter, order, and your food is ready shortly. I have tried their beef, chicken, and mixed döners at different times and every time it is so tasty! The spicy sauce while it's not German spicy it actually packs quite a punch if you like spicy sauces. They have been very consistent with the large portions and flavor which is great. While they aren't German prices because it's New York they are still very much worth it! If you around the East Village or Union Square, either for lunch, dinner, late night, or just because you absolutely need to try Döner Haus!

Dana A.

Yelp
Great tasting halal lunch option in Manhattan. Order from Uber eats and not only did it arrive fast but good fresh and tasty. Ordered the chicken sandwich to take home and it was a huge hit literally that sandwich was packed to the brim. Adding to my go to lunch spot.

Edmond C.

Yelp
Doener Haus delivers on value first and flavor second. This is a great place to get a filling meal for under twenty bucks. The flavor was not quite on point as I recalled from my time in Germany, but it is far from flavorless. I had the chicken and beef box with a small salad and fries AND a coke for twenty bucks. They don't skimp on the onions or tomatoes. There is a dressing for the salad too. This is a take out place with a giant window facing the sidewalk, which must be rather chilly for those who work there. The bottom line is this is a to-go place and you would be advised to eat as soon as possible, which is more tenable when the weather warms and you can eat right there where they have a few standing tables on the sidewalk. The Doener sandwich wedge might even taste better, with more focus on the meat. That's worth a revisit. Three stars

MengYao L.

Yelp
Doner Haus has decent prices and a good portion size. I ordered 2 of the sandwiches combo and really liked the fries. The pita was definitely stuffed with a lot of protein and a decent amount of veggies. Only complaint is the pita tasted stale and not crispy at all.

Chris S.

Yelp
A huge sandwich for a good price. It was absolutely stuffed with the contents spilling out. This sandwich was really good and I'd happily come back. That being said, it's not the best kebab sandwich I've had. The white didn't add anything to the sandwich. I wasn't sure if it was in there. Although I would say the sandwich wasn't dry. It was very front loaded. As I made my way through it, it turned into bread and veggies. Speaking of, the pita bread was good and toasted. Although you have to eat it fresh. Still, if you're in the area it's worth it. Chances are I'll be back here.

Yelp
I'm quite picky with my German Döners, as I've had many in Hamburg and Berlin with family, and these were great!! First off, the storefront is fun, vibey, and intriguing. I kind of love that it's solely takeout with friendly faces to interact with. The service was a 5/5 -- so friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic! I also caught them at a time where things weren't too busy and my order was ready in under 5 minutes. Something to note for folks who may want to visit: they have a regular döner (chicken, beef, or a mix of chicken/beef) for approx $12 (if my memory serves me) but offer a combo for closer to $15 which offers a sandwich, fries, and a drink--seems like a great deal to me! For this time, though, I wasn't super hungry so I stuck with the sandwich. The bread was fresh and just the right balance of crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They truly did not skimp out on the fillings (which I so appreciated!). The chicken was super flavorful, as were the sauces, lettuce, onions, and tomato. Well-seasoned and well-cooked! Not greasy at all. The one thing I was not the biggest fan of was the spicy sauce. I usually like spice, but I didn't feel it was necessary in this sandwich--it felt a tad overpowering for me personally. Having consumed my fair share of authentic German döners, it was an element to the sandwich I was unfamiliar with and didn't love. Next time, I'll ask for more tzatziki and no spicy sauce. It's also a tad expensive (I'm used to döners in Germany being 4-6 Euros), but hey, it's NYC. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and will be back!

Jon W.

Yelp
Döner Haus brings down the house with its German styled halal which taste better seems healthier and is less greasy! This spot is pick up only! Blast euro music into tue streets and is like a food dance party out in the streets and then in your mouth after you start munching on their food. The guy working the front was nice and took the time to explain the food. You can get their platter or sandwich. I got the sandwich combo with fries and a drink. The fries are so flavorful doesn't need any ketchup or anything the sandwich is delicious I suggest getting spicy. One this that was kinda weird to me is the yogurt like sauce they use on it, I think it's unnecessary and takes away from the flavor of the meat. In short: - Great pick up spot for delicious healthier halal - Perfect drunk food spot - No seating

Anna D.

Yelp
Honestly - WOW. I got a beef doner box and a chicken one (the owner's recommendation was the chicken). At first I was perturbed at the size considering the box already comes with fries. You look inside and there's a HEFTY amount of beef on top of thin cut fries and salad on the side. My first bite had beef with sauce and a fry too - wow. So freaking tasty!!! I love me a cream sauce, and it really makes the bite flavorful, especially with the spice blend they have. I think it's a paprika, so I'm glad I got the spicy instead of the non spicy. The chicken is just as good. The salad it comes with is pretty essential to take a break from the carby heavy goodness. This is a perfect drunchies OR hangover food, although I'd def have to share it with probably 1 other person lol. I have to remember to ask for more sauce!!! There's no seating but it's a vibey place, I'd prob come and just eat it on the street especially in the summer. Def coming back to trying the doner sandwich with custom made bread. The staff is super sweet and speedy!

Robyn T.

Yelp
This place is BOMB I never tried food like this before and I'm soo happy I did because it's different than your normal choices The flavors are incredible definitely try the bowls they're amazing and great protein choices It's a walk up spot so it's quick grab and go which is perfect and the guy at the window. Was soo niceee and helped us decide

Simply L.

Yelp
The food was ok. It was big and messy. Fries were seasoned well. Glad I tried it, but I'm not interested in going back.

C J.

Yelp
Awesome food, generous portions and the staff is extremely friendly! Definitely a place I revisit when I'm in the area.

Nandita K.

Yelp
Every bite of this meal was super tasty. The meats are super tender and flavorful, the fries incredible - the spice on the fries is so so good, the pickled cabbage and salad added the perfect bite and acidity. A very satisfying meal and I can't wait to eat from here again!

Brandon S.

Yelp
Dont let the pornhub logo dissuade you. This is a solid doner with heaps of thinly sliced veggies, packed in with a generous portion of mixed meats. Goes great with the spicy + white sauce combo. Held in by that flattened german doner style bread that keeps all the good stuff inside with fluffy crispy structural i n t e g r i t y whilst you eat the sandwich. It's a solid takeout lunch to hit the doner craving better than the trendier sitdowns, and sometimes thats all you want. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ron H.

Yelp
Ordered the combo chicken and beef combo box since I'm gluten intolerant. I was impressed by the spicing of the meat and the fries. The beef was tender and moist too. But wasn't so impressed by the amount of meat and fries, with salad making up half of the box. Not only that, but there were literally only 3 tiny pieces of chicken. I was left hungry. I suppose the bread in the sandwich would have made this snack more filling. Was that the reason the person at the counter emphatically recommended the sandwich?

Sun L.

Yelp
Their pide-bread is nice and crispy, reminds me the Döner I had in Berlin. Fries and meat are well seasoned and the sauce kind of garlic taste

Alejandro S.

Yelp
After a disappointing trip to Halal Guys, I hit up Doner Haus and let me tell ya, it's like night and day. The kebabs here are insane -- so much flavor and quality. The meat was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, a complete 180 from Halal Guys' bland mess. Even the pita was on point. And the sauce? Unreal! Felt like I was back in Germany without ever leaving NYC. Plus, the vibe in the place is super chill. It might not be the cheapest spot, but you get what you pay for and then some. The girl gave me a friend card, it was super cute lol - apparently with that it's 20% off on everything. Doner Haus, you got a fan for life!

Remy M.

Yelp
Best döner spot all the other once are just imitations, this is the real deal just like back at home with a unique one of a kind flavored fries just amazing highly recommended Doner

Top G.

Yelp
one of the girl cashier and the supervisor are dating and one night i came at almost closing time there was no body attending so i waited and i started hearing them in the back on top of the food nutting on the food when they gave me my food it looked slimy and when i asked sbout it they just said it was a new type of Hummus i requested my money back but the girl cashier did not want to of course like the bitch that she is tryna act hard but she be out cheating on her mans going pound town at work i hope yall review this employee and the supervisor they seem to be working more on wrapping them legs around than to wrapping a fucking kabob burrito

Asad M.

Yelp
* Day 6 of Ramadan brought us to @realdonerhaus based out of Germany and quite possibly one of the more popular Döner kabab chains in Europe. This is their first US location and they are getting quite a welcome! What we got: *mix döner combo over platter *chicken döner sandwich *vegetarian sandwich Being an avid shawarma fan, I look for the newest spots around and love trying various kabab dishes from across the globe. Although Döner is quite similar in texture to shawarma, I was told by the manager that it's different in the way it's prepped and cooked. Can anyone enlighten me? The döner were simply seasoned, slightly charred and an absolute delight!! This place has just opened up this month and they are busy off the bat. They're takeout only so please plan ahead! A simple menu makes this a great quick grab and go place you should put on your list. Next up is the Döner kabab spot in Astoria for comparison!!

Alex R.

Yelp
Although ample size the meat in this doner was way overcooked and spiced. To the point where you can't tell what you're eating.

Mason S.

Yelp
I got the doner box with beef that comes with french fries and red cabbage / lettuce on the side. The beef tasted good. I don't like french fries as the side and prefer something healthier like white or brown rice. The red cabbage and lettuce was blah. A bottled water or soda comes with the meal which was nice. I didn't like paying $15.99 and then tax brought the meal to $17.41. Too pricey in my opinion. I can just go to Chipotle and get a bowl for less than $15 and I can get a cup of water for free. Again, nothing special about the fries and "light salad". There is no seating at this restaurant. It's basically buy, pickup and go. I won't go out of my way to come here and I probably won't return.

Chad T.

Yelp
You're not going to find a better kebab sandwich in Manhattan. Not only is the meat delicious (and pure meat for you keto people, no fillers) but they toast the pide pocket so it's really crispy. Also, I love crazy hot sauce that creamy hot sauce they give you is no joke. Go east on it until you you know you can handle it.

Linda B.

Yelp
The Döner is delicious and an offering that cannot be found anywhere else. It will be our afternoon, lunch go to on Sundays. Service with a smile and picnic tables for outside dining.

Correy K.

Yelp
This restaurant opened on 2nd ave and East 14 st giving out free food to 100s of people for reviews to test out the meals. It was very nice of them. My review: portions are big enough. I got shredded beef on shredded lettuce with a slice of tomato. The beef was carved off a slab similar to greek meat. There is also à chicken option. Fries are included with the meal. Choice is spicy or not spicy. I chose not spicy and can just imagine what spicy is! I couldn't eat anything it was like chili burning in my stomach. Each swallow hurt. The little sauce on top helped curve the burn. Sorry guys... but I appreciate the try.

Anna C.

Yelp
We got one of each Beef Döner Sandwich Beef Döner Box. Everything was good except the fries were extremely stale and hard to chew.

Shahreen A.

Yelp
good portions for the price. got the fries box w/ salad and beef, about $17 i believe? i got this months ago i'm not sure guys. but it was good and the sauce was also nice.

Tina B.

Yelp
Asked for no tomatoes twice and emphasized that I'm allergic. Still got tomatoes. Don't go if you need any dietary customizations.

Shareen H.

Yelp
Traveling through the city and decided to stop to try the chicken. This go round the wait time was much much better. The chicken is a tad bit salty but I purchased extra sauce and that cools it. I also got the spice sauce to try and boy oh boy.... It's definitely good and complements the sandwich but it is super hot for me. I will suffer later when it comes out I'm sure lol. Overall again a GREAT sandwich. Next time I will try the mixed.

Michele N.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible place!! I had a chicken with fries and it was so crispy!! Loaded With toppings and sooo affordable! Get here !

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Doner, different than halal cart, is more recognizable as a Turkish shawarma, and Doner Haus specializes on the sandwich. They use a fresh waffle flatbread, well-seasoned chicken and beef, and various sauces and mixed veg. All adds up to a perfectly textured treat at a fair price point.

Azarel B.

Yelp
Whoa ! Finally a nyc line worth joining. I've passed this place a couple times before finally getting to try it. It didn't disappoint! Firstly, this sandwich can easily feed two people to the point of food pregnancy. There's so much food stuffed in a perfect pita. The meat is seasoned well, cut thin so it's tender and has some crispy caramelized pieces that are to die for. There's also lots of fresh elements too like onions, tomatoes and lettuce that lighten up the meal. It's such a great bite, I ate it twice in a week! The beef is better than chicken.

Abby G.

Yelp
The chicken döner sandwich is amazing. The meat, the hot sauce, the perfectly crusted bread, the balance that the shredded cabbage gives you has me hooked. A few tips: - The sandwich is MESSY. If you're eating it there (which means at a standing table on the street) bring water so you can clean your hands afterwards, dry napkins aren't enough. - Take it slow with the hot sauce, it's serious. Delicious, but serious.

Andy K.

Yelp
Wow. Just. Wow. This is the best meat on bread that you can get in the city. I'm never ordering Mamoun's again. I tried both the chicken and the beef and they are equally fantastic. Their sauces are also spectacular.

Adelaide H.

Yelp
Closest thing you will get to German Döner in NYC period. They don't offer lamb but the chicken and beef are still pretty good. They also have all the correct toppings which is awesome. Be warned though this is strictly a takeaway place. They do not even have an open indoor space. You order at a window and they drop it off at the window so this is not a date night spot.

Manual W.

Yelp
Highly recommend. Their premier sandwich is very good as it's juicy and tasty. My wife and kids also loved it. I wish the price was a bit lower as Bidenonmic's inflation is everywhere taking away the value aspect.

Marie D.

Yelp
"Indulging in the delicious fusion of Greek flavors and the true German Döner experience at Döner Haus! From 100% beef to 100% chicken, this take-out spot takes German cuisine to another level. The warm welcome from the team and the charming location make it a must-visit. Prost!"

Sadie L.

Yelp
My husband and I both love doner and when we found a doner spot when visiting NYC we had to stop in. We both got beef doner and a shared some fries. Will definitely be back the next time we are in the city.
