The Best Restaurants in LA’s South Bay, According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"Dumpling Mix, a newish Chinese restaurant in Redondo Beach, has a pleasant modern interior (think blond wood panels, mid-century modern chairs, woven lantern light fixtures) and a menu full of Chinese and Taiwanese favorites sure to please a crowd. The right thing to do here is to honor its namesake with mixed-and-matched dumplings — from classic wontons in chile oil to ones packed with steamed fish and fresh herbs. The corn and crab egg soup or braised beef noodle soup are salves for colder days; Taiwanese sausage-pocked fried rice feels similarly warming. Head to Kirari West or Confections by Kirari West in the same complex after the meal for rice-flour-based breads, cakes, and cookies. — Nicole Adlman, cities manager" - Matthew Kang

This place is good for Taiwanese food and dumplings. We got the cabbage and pork and with the deal with minimum spend..we also got the corn and chicken dumplings. They were both soupy flavorful. The beer noodle soup was good but there is wasn't enough umami flavor despite the beef being very tender. The scallion pancake is very good. The beer rolls were also really good and tender but it was hard to hold together to eat. The staff was very nice and attentive and gave us what we needed such as a water and whatnot and good choices on the menu.

Happy to find a new authentic Chinese place open up in the neighborhood. Nice spacious interior. Servers were attentive, we were seated quickly. The menu needs to be scanned from a QR code, but wasn't really an issue for us. Food today really hit the spot, especially the sesame noodles, just the right chewiness. A flavor I always missed since moving to the area. The pan fried chicken&corn dumplings were also great and worth the wait, personally prefer it over the boiled dumpling, which wasn't bad, just more like your typical dumpling. The popcorn chicken was the authentic Taiwanese batter outside and juicy inside, my kid loved it. The sausage looked like it was pre-cut and fried, the taste was good, just not used to the shriveled appearance. But kid also loved it, clean plate! The seasoned cucumber was refreshing, cold and crunchy. I did end up dipping the sauce to get some more flavor, probably just needed a bit more time in the marinade. All in all a solid experience! Definitely coming back with friends to try out the other stuff!

So far putting a go order told me 15 minutes, not ready. Let’s see how the food is. I went out to my car, and the restaurant associate brought my food to me at the window while sitting in the disability spot. His three just went to a five. Got home and found this strange dish… The dumplings were upside down because they had been fried and connected so it’s surprise me. But awful awful yummy enjoy. I had to come back and edit this review a third time because I realize these people are really authentic. Not only did I get the dumpling sauce on the side, but I also got a little container of peanuts and pickled vegetables that really do complement the dumplings.

Sweet and quiet spot. Simple food, good dumplings. As a vegetarian, I would recommend their vegan dumplings that come in a light peanut gravy.

Google
Highly anticipated and waited for a long time to try this place out. Drove from Ontario to Redondo Beach just to try this place because I love dumpling and noodles. The food was the best. If you’re into juicy dumplings this is the spot to go to. I tried the spicy beef noodle, both soup and no soup one. Beef was very tender and the broth was top notch. Dumpling was super good with juices coming out in your mouth. I also tried their cold seaweed and cucumber. They were both good. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area and want to try authentic Chinese/Taiwanese style dumplings and noodles. Service was 5 stars as well. Make sure to try their teas. They got a variety of them.

This place is a must if you are a Dumpling lover place is so beautiful. Everything was delicious 10/10... service was amazing 👏 Kaden was so attentive and fast at answering any question. Also, you can't beat free dumplings if you spend $50 on food, of course, after tax. I will be coming back soon.

Google
We were excited to try out this new dumpling place and were not disappointed. Food: everything we ordered was pretty good. We ordered and tried a lot of different things so we can bring some home. Prices are slightly above average but not outrageous in today’s scales. Dumplings: we tried the surf & turf pan fried, it took a while to serve, though it was worth the wait. There were 8 (small) pieces and they tasted very good! Scallion Pan Cake: very nicely made, we liked it Noodles: braised beef noodles soup, we liked the thick al dente noodles, and I liked the thick beef (my wife would prefer them to be smaller), the preserved vegetables were excellent, and soup was fine. Beef roll: pretty tasty with a little flaky skin Lettuce w/ Garlic, I loved it but not sure if people would pay $15 for a lettuce dish, ha ha Cucumbers had a nice presentation, crunch and fresh, with pretty good sauce The atmosphere is nice and new, the ordering is via QR code and directly so it’s fast and efficient, and there is no need to wait for the staff. The staff is new, they were pretty focused on the basic stuff like delivering the food, getting water, etc, not so much socializing and interaction. Generally, the newer style of self ordering and minimal service which is ok with us. Parking: plenty of free parking in this good sized mall.

The dumplings were fresh, juicy, and clearly made with care. You can taste the quality in every bite. Clean kitchen, safe food handling — I felt totally at ease eating here.

Yelp
Always delightful to dine here, clean and comfortable environment, friendly service, and delicious food. My favorites this time: marinated cucumber, braised pork meatballs, string beans, and beef rolls.

Yelp
I appreciate every Taiwanese joint that tries to expand the cultural diversity of the LA South Bay. Dumpling Mix is offering a non-veggie option in this strip mall of Redondo Beach and I am here for it! Menu was extensive. - We came for the Taiwanese basil popcorn chicken. This is my youngest's favorite and not all Taiwanese restaurants offer this - We tried noodles - of course, our favorites are beef noodle soups in light and dark broths. - ordered the dumpling noodle soup - this I'll pass on next time as didn't have much flavor - We tried dumplings - free order if you spend more than $50 Really legit as all the staff spoke Chinese. Kitchen was shouting stuff to the bus boys in Chinese. Love it! Our favorite here was the popcorn chicken. Noodles were decent.

Yelp
Very good food and excellent service! The ambiance is clean and modern - pleasant. No beer, not a dealbreaker but would be nice to have a cold one with some soup dumplings or spicy noodles. Seemed reasonably price for high quality food. 4.5 stars

Yelp
I've gone a few times now. A very casual modern Chinese dumpling house. Cute deco and setting. Service was prompt and came back to check on us a few times. Food was fresh, clean and not oily. See pictures! I will def be back. They are having a special offer, spend $50 and get free dumplings. You get a full order!

Yelp
Im a south bay redondo native and this place is a MUST TRY. Im a big fan of happy veggie for vegan eats but this dumpling mix place is phenomenal. An amazing spin off DTF. They start you off with some sweet and salt roasted peanuts GREAT and some pickled daikon with carrots. So good!! The sesame noodle was SOOOOO good. I was definitely not expecting a cold noodle. But it's cold, refreshing and flavor packed. The peanuts give it a nice crunch. We got the pan fried beef dumpling and they were delicious. They come in a interesting shape see picture but very delicious. They have the usual vinegar, soy sauce and chili oil for dipping sauce. I came around 4pm and it was practically empty but started getting busy around 6pm. No need to dress up but it's super cute and fancy inside. The waiter recommend the braised wonton soup and the surf and turf dumplings but I wasn't feeling soup today. I'll definitely be coming back to try other dishes!! Overall a must try!!!
google avatar

Esther K.

Yelp
Slightly disappointed. The soup for my beef noodle soup was not that flavorful.... The spicy wonton was not spicy but I felt like it was missing something else. The xiao long bao was okay too. Cant compare with DTF or BF. Otherwise, the restaurant itself was nice and clean and the Food came out pretty fast.

Yelp
I ordered one of the noodle dish with an "add on", total is more than $20. I told the waiter this portion is not enough for dinner, and I am a female. The waiter talked to the manager, came back and told me, each dish has a "special weight", they can not offer anything to make me full tonigh, I will have to order another dish. I told them I dont live far, will love to come back if I have a good experience today. I also ordered 2 other dishes for my family, they are both super small version and Ridiculously pricy. This is the very first time I'm writing a review any where. I will never come back to this place! not worthy it, the owner clearly don't care about their customers and his business!

Yelp
Overall cute and tidy shop. Service was OK I'm not sure what I was looking for. I thought that the beef dumplings were good, I thought that the wontons in the sesame sauce were fantastic. . I enjoy the complementary peanuts and pickled vegetables that they put on the table.

Yelp
I like the food, fried rice was the bomb, clean restaurant, service was great! It's a good Asian restaurant for the neighborhood.

Yelp
Food - all delicious and tasty! We ordered cucumber salad, scallion pancakes, chicken fried rice, sesame noodles, pork and celery dumplings, surf & turf dumplings, beef shumai, and Napa cabbage pork & shrimp dumplings. Service - was helpful and friendly. Ambiance - clean and modern, lots of space. They also have boba and different other types of drinks. I ordered the mango yogurt - delicious! Will be back for sure!

Yelp
Food is very good and menu is varied and interesting for a dumpling place. Staff is very nice and efficient. Finally, an authentic and delicious Chinese restaurant to rely on in South Bay. Thank you to the dumpling gods. I love the pan fried dumplings (we tried surf and turf and cabbage pork so far) and the garlic green beans.
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Kinda bummed that the XIAO bao didn't have any soup inside or of it did very little. Everything tasted ok but nothing was awesome. The green scallion pancakes were nice and crispy and the Sesame noodles had a nice taste to them. I'm glad there were 3 of us and we all split. From spending over $50 we got our choice of free dumplings that they reminded us about. It was a nice meal and I would come back again but I wouldn't rush here...just if I was driving by and hungry.

Yelp
Handmade dumplings, a menu full of Chinese-Taiwanese classics. Sesame Noodles are nice and chewy, with a smooth sesame sauce. Lion Head Meatballs are sold in singles, tender pork in a brown sauce in a bed of clear rice noodles. A bit too heavy on the salt for my preference but not a bad starter for sharing. Dumplings are the main event, and they offer them steamed, boiled, or fried, all to perfection. Steamed keeps the wrapper chewy, and fried comes with that crisp bottom crust. Surf and Turf is a tender, three-meat mix of chicken, pork, and shrimp. The Seafood filling is a little bit fishy so only get it if you like that flavor (I do!). Pork and Cabbage are traditional, also tender, with a lighter finish than the other two. The food here tastes like what my family would make, and I'm absolutely thrilled that these dumplings landed here!

Yelp
Great neighborhood restaurant with a spacious interior. We ordered a bunch of dumplings and all were tasty. The service was great also. They two servers that helped us were nice and attentive. They seemed to genuinely want to help. That isn't always the case at establishments. They are running a deal also. Spend $50 and get a choice of the boiled dumpling for free. That is easy to hit when you order a few items and a drink. Their tea selection is pretty deep too. So you should try it for a well rounded dining experience.

Yelp
A nice alternative to Din Tai Fung (DTF) has opened in the South Bay near the Redondo Beach King Harbor area with a modern bistro type atmosphere. Dumpling Mix serves primarily dumplings with some unique specialty items that are not available at DTF. We were able to sample a lot of their menu items, which was very encouraging. The marinated cucumber salad was very good and had more flavor with a bit of a bite than DTF. The same is true with their spicy wontons. The wood ear salad is unique with wood ear mushrooms and white fungus that were very refreshing. The popcorn chicken came freshly fried with large pieces of flavorful chicken. Their steamed and pan-fried dumplings were at least as good as you would find anywhere, including DTF. A few misses were the beef rolls, xiao long baos, and their potato string shrimp. Even though the potato string shrimps were nicely presented, they tasted bland and lacked seasoning. The beef rolls didn't have enough cilantro and have a sauce that was a little below average in flavor. The xiao long baos were not very good and didn't even look good when served. The soup dumplings were very small in size and have very little soup in them. The skin was also way too thick. Service was adequate and available when needed. You can place your order using a QR code on your phone or place it directly with the wait staff. Dumpling Mix is a nice addition to the growing dining scene in Redondo Beach. If you avoid some of the poorly executed aforementioned items and limit your choices to their dumplings and some of their specialty items, you will have an enjoyable dining experience.

Yelp
I've been to this location twice and I have to say: it is legit good stuff. Location: In a shopping center on PCH and Herondo (190th). Parking is a large shared lot with other businesses and the shop is in the corner next to the street. Food: I got the surf and turf fried dumplings and the pork and cabbage dumplings. Both of the beautifully fried and delicious. The potato string shrimp appetizer was both cute and inventive and one of the best appetizers so far. The service was courteous and polite. The ambiance was relaxed with a clean restaurant. Summary: I would come here again to try other dishes, but really, the dumplings are where this place really shines. Dumplings can also be had steamed and boiled too, not just fried. They do have other offerings too if you're not craving dumplings and it is served family style so it's fine to bring your family/crew. Happy eating!!

Yelp
The prices here are similar to Din Tai Fung, but they offer free boiled dumplings with a $50 spend, which is a nice touch. The surf and turf potstickers ($16.99) were the standout--crispy on the bottom, loaded with shrimp, and packed with flavor. However, the XLB was disappointing--too chewy with an odd flavor. The spicy wontons were decent, but nothing special. The interior is clean with a modern 626 vibe, and the service was fast and efficient. They seated me at 8:50 PM without any issues, even though they close at 9 PM. Parking is also super easy with the lot in front.

Yelp
Update Review: they added a few more items to their menu. Now they have Lemon Chicken, Salted Fried Crispy Pork, Cold Steam Chicken with spicy sauce, Veggie fried rice, Seafood Rice, Chow Mien (Seafood, Chicken, Veggie), Xiao Long Bao, Seafood Dumplings. I ordered my usual and added the cold chicken with spicy sauce. If you like cold chicken the dish is great for a hot summer day. You still get heat from the ma-lat spices and a nice balance of cool marinated Julian cucumbers topped with fresh peanuts. Garlic string beans are yummy, lightly blanched but lack the wok fire taste. I have to say, it's great as a cold leftover dish. The staff very friendly and accommodating. Some of the prices did go up like their more popular dishes. I ordered to go and they gave me a glass of water while I waited and insisted that I sit to be more comfortable.

Yelp
Fun, casual restaurant with great food and nice service. We've only been a few times, but the server remembered us. They have nice dumplings, noodles, vegetables, and more. The food has great flavor and nice preparation.

Yelp
I noticed this place as hubby was driving us on our evening jaunt trying to find a place to eat. We didn't end up here the first time I saw it, but we came the next week. The inside is well lit and pretty open. The decor is simplistic. Their place settings are so cute! The paper napkin, dishes, & chopsticks have the logo on them! The paper place mat is dumpling themed. They start you off with a little dish of peanuts & a Kimchi. Although there is a QR Code at the table, we were able to order with a server. Our server was attentive and helped us with what to order. It's interesting that 3 types of dumplings could be boiled, steamed, or pan fried. The other 7 dumplings could only be steamed or pan fried. You get more dumplings if they are boiled. Interesting! I saw a picture of the Potato String Shrimp and knew I had to order them! While they were intriguing, the potato strings pretty much broke apart as you bit into them. We liked them! Both of us really liked the Corn & Crab Egg Soup! The only thing I'd change is the crispness (rawness) of the corn. It would have been easier to eat the soup if the corn kernels had been cooked a little more. Flavor wise, the soup was delectable! Then we ordered the Shanghai Style Spring Rolls. I would NOT get these again. Unfortunately, they were quite oily. Very disappointing. The last thing we got were the Surf & Turf Dumplings. They looked nice. The filling was not bad, but the wrapper was pretty dense, throwing off the balance. Parking is free and plentiful in the parking lot shared with all the nearby businesses in the plaza. I would definitely come back for the same soup or try another soup, or a noodle dish. If we chose a dumpling, we'd probably get them pan-fried. Be sure to grab a candy or two on your way out. They're fruity and not minty.

Yelp
So this was my first time going to Dumpling Mix. I have a few positive things about the restaurant, and some feedback. Positive- it was clean, my wife and I were immediately greeted upon entering location. The decor is simple, yet appeasing with bamboo chairs, and delicate touches of cultural aspects within the restuarant itself. I loved that since our bill was over a certain amount, we also got a free order of dumplings, steamed. One of the options they didn't have available, so we got the chicken and corn. It was good.. The only feedback was that of course in our economy, prices have risen. And that even impacts restaurants and the food costs to support the price that customers pay. I get it. But for the portion size, it didn't equal out for the price point. Ive gone to similar type of dine in restaurants recently, and paid close to the same price, but portions were bigger. The taste of the food, was good. You could tell it was made authentic and the taste came across in the meal itself..also for the fact that if you want steamed dumplings versus pan fried there was a slight increase on price. I mean, pan frying for a few seconds on each side of a dumpling shouldn't mean a few dollars more. And one of the types of dumplings I wanted the restaurant wasn't offering to pan fry it. So I opted for tasting the steamed free ones we got. And for the beverages we got canned sodas. The menu did state free refills, but I guess no soda machine . Overall, staff was friendly, food was brought out quick. But maybe I can give them another try, in the future.

Yelp
Been here 3 times now. Each time for lunch. There's never a wait. The staff is great. The food comes out fresh and hot. I've had varying preferences but everyone is happy. To me it is far better than going to din tai Fung - from a location, wait, pricing perspective. It's clean and simple decor! Great for a casual meal.

Yelp
My wife and I were stoked to try out a new local Taiwanese spot, but the meal was a mixed bag. On the upside, the braised beef noodle soup was well done with tender meat, al dente noods, and ample acidity. Curiously, the XLB's skin was oddly gummy and clashed with the meat filling. Among the dumplings, the boiled surf & turf was mediocre for its unacceptably dry, gritty filling. Thankfully, the corn & chicken and fish & cilantro variants were pretty good. Overall, the food was largely average and overpriced (eg. $19 for 10 boiled dumplings...). I wish I could give these folks a higher rating as the staff was friendly and the space was bright and inviting, but the cuisine has much room for improvement.
google avatar

Allison S.

Yelp
Ambiance: 5/5 Restaurant was really nicely decorated. Everything was clean and had a cozy vibe to it. There was no wait either. Service: 5/5 Staff were really friendly and attentive. They even gave complimentary seasoned peanuts and some pickled vegetables, which is quintessential of a Shanghainese restaurant. Food: 3/5 Sad to say most of the food wasn't up to par. We ordered the cucumber salad, chili bean curd, pan fried beef and onion dumplings, and steamed fish dumplings (this one was free with the spend $50 get 1 free select dumplings!). Starting off with the appetizers -- the cucumber salad was actually quite refreshing, but it did not taste like it had been marinated for very long. This wasn't an issue for me, but I can see others who are used to a more classic dish questioning this. The chili bean curd on the other hand was overly salty... the flavor was promising but it was just too salty. Now for the entrees -- the beef and onion dumplings were pretty oily and not very flavorful. I had a similar dish at another restaurant and was expecting a more fusion American taste to this dumpling. However, this restaurant isn't trying to be fusion, so this was more on me. This dumpling definitely needed a bit more seasoning. Now for the broccoli -- this needed to be cooked just a tad longer and definitely needed more seasoning. The staff kindly said it could be remade quickly, but by the time we had already finished our food and it still didn't come out we opted to cancel it instead, which the staff were very accommodating for. Saving the best for last -- the fish dumplings! Boy were these SOOOO good. These were so good I would come back and order a bunch of these. If we had only ordered the fish dumplings, the food would've gotten a 6/5! Definitely on the pricier side of things, but I believe this place has a lot of promise!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this new restaurant as I picked up some sweets next door at Kirari Bakery. Here's what we ordered... Garlic seaweed salad: Not bad Soybean paste noodle: Flavor was light, so I added chili oil and was happy with it Corn & Chicken dumpling: A little light in flavor for my taste Beef & Onion dumpling: Best dish I had here My opinion is they use quality ingredients, but purposely keep the flavors on the mild side. Soy sauce, chili oil and vinegar are available on the table to give the food some kick. Bathrooms are clean. I'll go back again.

Yelp
Dumpling Mix was delicious! This place had plenty of places to sit down and order a variety of yummy food! Parking was easy and the service was fast! They had a deal where you can spend $50 and get a free plate of dumplings. The portions were generous and everything tasted delicious! The popcorn chicken was my favorite. If you're in Redondo Beach and looking for some delicious Shanghainese/Taiwanese food, check out Dumpling Mix. :)

Yelp
It your craving Taiwanese food, be sure to stop by here. Everything tastes so good and service from the staff is amazing. The marinated cucumber appetizer is a must have item. Compliment that with their beef roll and you'll be extremely happy. The chicken fried rice is also very tasty with good size pieces of marinated chicken. There's no need for soy sauce, it's packed full of flavor. The interior design and table arrangement makes it really roomy and comfortable, even for large groups. Be sure to check their hours before making the drive over there.

Yelp
Wonderful service, relaxing and clean dining room. Typical northern Chinese items, Shanghai fried rice cake, fried rice, beef soup noodles, several dumpling options - steamed and pan fried. We had the celery and pork pan fried dumplings, siu long bao (soupy dumplings served in a bamboo basket) and string beans which was my favorite dish. The string beans were not deep fried so it retained a bit more crunch and just felt more healthy. The pan fried dumpling entree was served with this crispy crepe-like layer. The dumpling skin was substantial which is consistent with the Shanghainese style. The soupy dumplings were a bit dry inside and again the wrappings were a bit too thick for my liking. A generous portion of shredded ginger was provided with the soupy dumplings dish, after adding some soy sauce, vinegar, and a few drops of the chilli oil, wah-la the perfect dipping sauce! It complimented the dry dumplings nicely.

Yelp
Went with a good friend for lunch and had 2 kinds of dumplings (sel mai and cabbage and pork dumplings) and an order of chicken fried rice. Everything was VERY tasty!! The fried rice was possibly the best commercial fried rice I have ever had!! The dumplings were very flavorful!! Service was very attentive, and the jasmine tea was delicious. Will definitely be back. It is a touch on the pricey side, like Din Tai Fung is.

Yelp
**Yelp Review** My friend and I stopped by on a Monday around 11:40 am, and it wasn't too busy--just two other tables occupied. The waiter quickly brought us menus and water and took the time to walk us through his recommendations since it was our first time. We could have ordered by scanning a QR code, but we decided to order with him instead. **Food:** We ordered a few dishes to share: - **Marinated Cucumber Salad ($7.99):** 4/5 - Super crunchy and nicely sauced, but the cucumber's interior felt a bit bland, like it hadn't been marinated long enough. - **Sesame Noodles ($13.99):** 5/5 - The noodle texture was perfect--chewy with just the right bounce. It's got a spicy kick, but you could probably ask for the spice on the side if needed. We dove in before snapping a pic because they were that good! There were also options to add extras (like eggs) if you wanted more. - **Surf and Turf Dumplings (free with a $50 minimum* or $18.99 a la carte):** 5/5 - Freshly made and packed with shrimp bits, these were a treat. Definitely would get these again. *promotion as of November 2024 - **Xiao Long Bao ($13.99):** 3/5 - A bit disappointing. The dumplings were a little sticky, and the broth inside was barely there, which was surprising given that our next dumpling dish actually had more liquid. - **Pan Fried Beef and Onion Dumplings ($14.99):** 5/5 - These came out hot and crispy, filled with beef flavors and very juicy. The crunchy exterior with the juicy filling was so satisfying. Would definitely reorder! **Overall Experience:** There's a parking lot, and we had no trouble finding a spot. The restaurant itself is clean, and they offer takeout as well. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, keeping our water topped up the whole time. Portions do feel a bit small for the price, but the quality of food makes up for it. I'd recommend coming here with friends to try a variety of dishes and share. We'd definitely come back!

Yelp
So happy to have a delicious restaurant for dumplings and noodles in the South Bay! The restaurant itself is really clean and nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly and attentive. What we've ordered: - pan fried dumplings: surf and turf, beef, fish. All very good just depends on what type of protein you like - braised pork noodles - braised pork fried rice (everyone loved this dish in our group. The braised pork belly dishes are so unctuous)

Yelp
I am a big fan of this restaurant and have dined here multiple times and always have a great experience. Food: the braised beef noodle soup, wonton soup, dumplings, fried rice and appetizers have all been tasty. The only dish where I feel like was a bit bland was the sauce used for the spicy wontons. Service: service is extremely friendly and pretty fast as well. Ambiance: the restaurant is very clean and welcoming.

Yelp
I would classify this as a modern Chinese just above a quick service restaurant. We came on a Saturday night and it wasn't super busy. You order through your phone by scanning a QR code on your table and they bring you the food. If you have questions about the menu, good luck. There are some wait staff and they were friendly but there wasn't a good way to flag them down. We ordered a variety of dishes. 1) cucumber salad - IMHO, it's as good or better than as Din Tai Fung's. Garlicky, a little hint of chile. 2) green beans with garlic - I felt it was a bit overcooked but it tasted fine. 3) potato shrimp - 5 smallish shrimp wrapped in a potato ribbon and deep fried. I felt it was under seasoned. 4) steamed chicken and corn dumplings- good amount of filling. Slightly under seasoned but you could dunk it in your own soy/vinegar/chili sauce. 5) pan fried beef and onion dumplings- great texture. Wonderful crispy lace skirt around s the dumplings. It tied with the cucumber salad as my favorite dish of the night. Service - Meh. The guy came to our table to drop off the check with a jug of water and didn't fill our empty glasses. Value - the above was more than enough for two hungry adults and came to about $70 before tip. Bottom line - I would come back and order the pan fried dumplings and cucumber salad.

Yelp
Had the potstickers and soup dumplings, both very tasty. Their lemonades were also quite tasty. reasonably priced too.

Yelp
Very close to my house and looked nice, so I was excited to try it. I went there for lunch and was very disappointed. It was honestly like a bunch of kids with no real culinary experience decided they wanted to start a restaurant and mix all of their home recipes together. It was not good. Sorry guys.

Yelp
Overall bad experience. I went solo for lunch, which caused part of the problem. I stood in the entry for nearly 5 minutes waiting to be seated. Looking over the menu, everything sounded really good, but not a lot of options for someone who is eating solo. There is no way to mix and match the dumplings, and the minimum order size is eight for $16. Which I guess is fine if you want eight of the same dumpling, but there was no way to try other dumplings without ordering 2 orders for 16 dumplings for $32. I asked the waiter if there was a way to do half-and-half and he said no, that the restaurant is really a family style restaurant - basically saying don't come here solo for lunch. Got it, won't do it again. I told the waiter I was ready to order and he told me to do it thru the app/QR code. Ok fine. I ordered the Sesame Noodle dish, the flavor was good, but the dish was served cold (not listed under the Cold Dishes). It may be good, but I wouldn't come back solo. I'd consider coming back with my family, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

Yelp
Lunch 12p Sun No wait for party of 3 Parking lot parking Seated immediately with a high chair available. QR code and order on your phone or they can take your order if you prefer. Sesame noodles - great sauce and good size portion to share. Braised beef noodle soup - good to share. Beef was tender and soup flavorful. Same type of noodles as the sesame noodles. Popcorn chicken - with basil. Crunchy and tasted like the kind from tap ex that I miss so much. Would def order again. Beef and onion dumplings - comes w 8 small dumplings. Nice chew and juicy, good flavor but small size. Would need to order more dumplings to try their other fillings. Will be back to try more!

Yelp
This is an amazing place. The staff are consistantly friendly, food the same. I would highly recommend a visit to the Dumpling Mix! I have visited three times now and always have had a great experience. The atmosphere is very relaxing and plenty of parking.

Yelp
Yummy food! Love the sesame noodles, and all the dumplings are delicious! I liked them steamed, but hubby liked them pan fried. You can't go wrong with this place. Service is fast and helpful.

Yelp
Must get the potato wrapped shrimp! I've never seen it anywhere else and I eat in the SGV every weekend when I visit my dad. Legit Chinese food by actual Chinese folx. Food here was delicious and healthy. The dishes were well-seasoned and clean tasting. The tea comes in cups and it's aromatic. Great service. Attentive staff that keeps your tea and water filled. Some of them even wear masks. You can order on your phone from the table so it's quick. Super clean restaurant and cute record and matching dishes. What a great find! It's like the 626 but clean with good service. Not sure what others are complaining about with the service sizes and prices. Of course they have to be different than the Chinese neighborhoods. Rent in Redondo is a lot more and the cleanliness and decor is not free if you want to eat at a nice place. The presentation of the dishes is also very nice. They don't just throw it at your table like at the cheaper places. The only draw back is that they don't have all gender bathrooms. They could easy change the labels of the 2 stalls to make them more inclusive :) Decent amount of vegan dishes on the menu. Our new go-to place for Chinese food in the South Bay!

Yelp
I'm not sure if I should post a review of this place cause I don't want my secret spot blowing up and getting super busy... but ok I'll share. We live nearby and stopped in here once on a whim. I'm a huge din tai fung fan but don't usually want to battle the crowds in the mall or wait times. And I am now SO lucky I found this spot! If you love Asian food like I do, you will love this place! The service is nice and quick and the food is all so delish! We haven't had a single dish from here that we didn't love. Not to mention the dining room is so nice and clean and stylist!

Yelp
I've come to this spot a few times now and haven't been disappointed. Our favorites are the cucumber salad, popcorn chicken, wontons in spicy sesame sauce, spicy beef noodles and literally any of the dumplings. The inside is clean & pretty and the service is always friendly. My family and I love having a good Asian place in the neighborhood so let's keep them in business!

Yelp
Lots of new dumpling restaurants popping up in the South Bay recently. Excited to try them all! Dumpling Mix is nice and spacious. The food we ordered was overall good, but nothing great. The portions were on the small side but the prices were on the high end. Shrimp and pork dumplings: you can choose to get the dumplings, steamed or pan fried. I got the steamed dumplings and while they tasted good, they are quite small. Beef roll: again the taste was good, but it was only for small pieces. Braised beef noodle soup: average tasting. The noodles seemed like the dry ones you get from the supermarket. While the beef was nice and tender, the soup was just average tasting. Definitely not worth the price. Popcorn chicken: again pretty average tasting. While it was still crunchy, it seemed like it was over fried. You also don't get to choose any spice to be added to it. Seaweed fried fish: got this one because my mom usually likes this dish. Again, seems like it was overly fried, and it was just average tasting.

Yelp
Enjoyed dinner at this new to me place. We ordered the beef noodle soup, shrimp fried rice, seafood chow mein, and they threw in the surf and turf dumplings. The dumpling dough was really perfect, soup was delicious and mellow, and the fried rice and chow mein were solidly reliable. The place is clean and cute.

Yelp
We visited this place- 2 adults and 2 kids on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy considering all the other empty restaurants in that complex! Service was amazing! Attentive staff, attention to water and clearing dishes etc. I wish I would have loved it But the food is 3.5 at best. The beef roll had us excited- we thought it would be like 101 express in Arcadia But the cucumber addition. And the very thick wrap made it a no go for me Everything else was fine, just not amazing..... Until next time?? Will give it one more shot for sure!

Yelp
This place gives dumplings a bad name. The orange chicken was all batter. The dumpings are mushy, greasy and far too expensive. An order is dumplings and a plate of orange chicken was well over $30. Avoid.

Yelp
The pot stickers had an interesting fried design. Ordered off the soft open menu. The food is good and i think the biz will remain open
