The 11 Best Hot Dogs In NYC

"Open until midnight during the week and 1am on weekends, this spot holds down the party on Dyckman Street in Inwood with its sticky-sweet, 32-oz. margaritas to-go, country music playlist, and $8 dogs. The thin beef sausages are couched in buttery brioche buns, which contain an impressive amount of toppings. The crunchiest of all is the Venezuelan Dog, with cabbage, tomato, onion, cheese, cilantro-based house mayo, and potato sticks (from sister restaurant Cachapas y Mas, next door). But our favorite is the Dominican Dog, with pink sauce, pickled onions, and a strip of fried cheese sitting on top of a thicker longaniza. " - bryan kim, willa moore, sonal shah, molly fitzpatrick

Dyckman Dogs - Review - Inwood - New York - The Infatuation

"Diagonally across from the Dyckman Street station, this spot offers about a half-a-dozen hot dogs with serious personality. The thin beef dogs are couched in thick, buttery brioche buns, then topped with an abundance of sauce and crunch. The crunchiest of all is the Venezuelan Dog, sprinkled with potato sticks from sister restaurant Cachapas y Mas, next door. But our favorite is the Dominican Dog, which has a thicker longaniza sausage. For optimum hot dog enjoyment, they also offer beer and other “adult beverages,” like a margarita on-tap ($11, or 32 oz for $16). Sit inside on a keg-turned-barstool, where you can bask in the mellow country soundtrack, or on a picnic bench outside, overlooking the busy intersection. The restaurant is open until midnight during the week, and 1am on weekends. Food Rundown Venezuelan Dog This is a seriously loaded hot dog. Besides the crispy potato sticks, there’s fresh julienned cabbage, tomato, onion, and cheese, as well as a green mayo made in-house with cilantro, parsley, onions, and leeks. It all (mostly) stays in place, but we’d be wary of taking this to go. photo credit: Sonal Shah Dyckman Dog We like the juicy corn, bacon, and pink sauce on this dog. But unless you simply must have pig on beef, go for the Dominican Dog. Dominican Dog The longaniza sausage on this has a little more flavor than the usual beef dog, and the pink sauce, pickled onions, and strip of deep-fried cheese add just enough pizazz to make this an easy-to-eat, yet delicious hot dog." - Sonal Shah

Google
I went to this spot about 2 weeks ago and all I can say is it’s amazing! From the crunch and snap of the links to the buttery bun and delicious toppings and their fries are amazing! The prices are a little high for a hotdog but it’s worth it! Perfect spot for a cheat day lol

We took the trip downtown from Times Square where we are staying just for this! And it was so worth the hike! Melting brioche bread, excellent dog, great choice of additions from crispy fried onions, to Texan chilly to corn and cheese. Very ki d and fast service, simple place, great music, all in all completely worth it.

The hot dogs and loaded fries here were so savory with each bite. The presidente beer was perfectly cold and the service was attentive and friendly. There were so many options on the menu to choose from as well.

Google
Great options for good NY style food. Really, really, really good hot dogs! At a very affordable price as well. Very good place to eat and even went back to it to eat again on vacation. It was that good!

Google
Pros: Open late. Reasonable prices. A variety of hot dog options, some of which are tasty. They have additional non-hot dog items on their menu, such as Cuban sandwich. Tasty Latin drinks. Friendly staff. Cons: Water dripping from the ceilings. Bathroom without hand soap or toilet paper. The yellow cheese on the fries (or on anything that has cheese) is terribly disgusting; they really need to replace the kind of cheap, poor quality cheese they use. We had to trash what we ordered that had yellow cheese.

Google
Dyckman Dogs is one of those places that unless you read a bunch of "best place review sites", you'd not even know that this place existed, due to its location in a neighborhood not many reviewers travel to. I first came here about ten years ago on the recommendation of a local friend, and although I don't have many opportunities to get to this establishment, when I do come here it's always an enjoyment. Being a big time hot dog person, I must say that I enjoy the different takes on hot dogs that Dyckman Dogs offers. It's a nice twist to see all the interesting variations on their dogs. I've had a few, and I find the toppings quite generous and substantial. My new favorite menu item here though, is the Chopped Cheese Fries, combining the quintessential bodega sandwich of New York with fries. It is a meal in itself. There is so much more to here than just the food that makes this place a winner. The atmosphere is close and intimate, the service very bright and pleasant, and there also is a large TV to watch sporting events on. The only drawback here is not the fault of anyone here, but rather due to the popularity of the business district around it, and that is that parking is at an extreme premium around here. I remember one time a customer came in and complained about having to park six blocks away from here just to get a spot. Fortunately, the 1 line is just around the corner, and the A line is about 4 blocks away. This place truly deserves its high ratings as one of the best hot dogs establishments in New York City.

Yelp
Traveled far and wide to experience the deliciousness of this place We came on a Sunday summer day and got lucky as no one else was dining. I ordered the DYCKMAN BURGER which came with fries. They had no lemonade but staff was nice enough to go out their way and go next door and get us lemonade! That was amazing! Waited about fifteen- 20 minutes for the food and when it came out it was F R E S H!! The burger was huge! Could barely fit into my hands and the fries were hot and fresh! It was delicious so good! I ordered the Texas burger to go! It was cheap too. Maybe 16-17 dollars an order which included fries and a drink! The decor was rustic and nice. No complaints. Highly recommend for dine in and take out

Yelp
There are some good items here - the 'Dykman Bird' is large with a generous sized chicken fillet. But the wieners on the hot dogs are too skinny for me and I could barely taste it. From a place like this I would expect the meat to be big, thick, and juicy. My friend said 'This place has skinny weenies'. Size and taste matters when I'm looking for a good weiner, especially from a place that specializes in hot dogs.

Yelp
Had the Texas Dog and cheese fries... not good at all. The cheese used didn't taste right. Luckily I've had other items and it was decent. Grateful for the good service to switch my cheese fries for regular fries after the fact (I rarely request this, but was hungry and the hot dogs are a bit thin)

Yelp
Amazing, and quick service. When we first walked in it was a bit suspicious considering it was empty but despite that the food was amazing. We waited about 10 minutes (max) before we got our food. I will definitely come back and try other dishes!

Yelp
Best hotdog ever, I love the way they prepare the food. Restaurant is modern and cool.

Yelp
Before arriving at the place I was a bit scared because I saw it empty, but honestly the food surprised me, how juicy the meat was and how fast the service was, I just can't wait to go back to NY to go again.

Yelp
I discovered this place through a post on Ig and decided to put it on my bookmarks, as I was doing something in the area we decided to finally give it a try. I really don't understand the posts with 1 star as this place is THE BOMB!!! I fell in love with their Dyckman fries and have already ordered them twice in two of three different versions(plantains and fries). My very Dominican boyfriend loved the Dominican fries and also ordered them twice in two different versions(plantains and sweet potatoes) The staff at Dyckman Dogs was extremely friendly to me and my boyfriend even tho we had to talk through the glass. They even came to us to say bye and wish us a good rest of the day. Their team in the kitchen was also very friendly, they were waving at us and talking through signs, really appreciated how polite and attentive they were. We've been here twice in the same week and already recommended to other people who also visited and loved their food. I already had the pleasure to eat two of their Hot Dogs, their DELICIOUS loaded Fries and last but not least, their Maracucha Burger. I have to say EVERYTHING was made to perfection and extremely delightful. I 100% recommend this place and will definitely come back for more!!

Yelp
This the second time I try Dyckman Dogs, last time ordered some Plantain Fries, but this time wanted to get actual and original order. This was amazing, veery tasty but not salty, crunchy fries, although If I had the option I would've added more salsa and cheese.. at the bottom the fries were dry with no Special sauce nor cheese .. but this was amazing, my sister and mom ordered the samee but with onions.. You need to try them out!! Also I called for pick up, and the guy that took the phone and gave me order was veery very friendly, everyone was even the one in the kitchen .. loved this food and place!

Yelp
DO NOT BE FOOLED by the lack of traffic inside. The food here is AWESOME. I come here every time I'm in nyc.

Yelp
Y'all, get the Texas burger if you're a fan of bbq and onion rings. All American if you like a classic cheeseburger. I get pick up all the time and it's an easy to go process. Fries with the pink sauce if you must. Bomb.

Yelp
Nestled on the busy Dyckman streetI this spot is servin up a bunch of eats including Venezuelan Hot Dogs I love Venezuelan hot dogs! They are loaded with toppings and give each bite layers of taste. Heard about this spot in Uptown Manhattan and checked it out. Got the Dyckman Dog and the Venezuelan Dog. Dyckman Dog is a beef dog with buttery corn, bacon, pink sauce, Venezuelan shredded cheese and chives on a toasted brioche. The dog is crispy and the bun is on point. The bun gives it a lot of flavor. I probably would have preferred a thicker and softer dog. Venezuelan Dog is also a beef dog topped w cabbage, tomato, white onion, a chunk of Venezuelan cheese called queso llareno, potato sticks and house mayo on a toasted brioche. I liked it but wasn't wowed by it. Wasnt as flavorful as other Venezuelan dogs I've had. This is personal preference: I would have gone w less cabbage and and thinner slice of queso llareno. If you want to try a different type of hot dog definitely give these Venezuelan hot dogs a try. This spot also sells burgers and wings. Will check it out next time.

Yelp
Was meaning to get here for a long time finally in the Midfle of this pandemic I needed something different... I originally came for the dogs but ordered the Dyckman burger ... it was off the hook great ... and I rarely say that ... it was 2 burgers with cheese...cooked onions which I normally won't eat ... crispy bacon... and special sauce in a great bun ... and potato sticks one of the best burgers I've ever had ... can't wait to come back ....

Mina X.

Yelp
Friend recommended this place, and they definitely didn't disappoint! Worth the hour drive lol we got the Dyckman & Dominican dogs.. bread was lightly toasted, the toppings made each one special & packed with so much flavor. Will most definitely be back!

Yelp
Don't get the hate here! This place is making a slamming burger and fries! Giving it 4 stars because the bacon was way too undercooked and the wait was long, but the food is amazing. I came on a random Friday night. Ordered my burger and was told 15 min. It became more like 40-45 which they really have to improve on, but once i got home with the food it was good. I had the Dyckman Burger and it was great! Burger was well cooked and the cheese, caramelized onions, potato sticks were excellent additions/combinations. The only area that needed to be adjusted was the bacon. It was not cooked at all! All you need to do is let it sit on the grill. Not too hard, but to serve flabby undercooked bacon is bad. Work on this! All in all-Loved the food and would like to go back. Hopefully they'll have adjusted some of the operation to speed the process up a bit. Don't forget to cook that bacon. P.S. get the Dyckman Fries. Amazing!

Yelp
I tried the Capitaleño and the Dyckman Dog. The bread and the toppings were on point. The only reason they didn't get the full five star is because I felt their actual hot dog. Although delicious, it was very thin and the bread and toppings overpowered the hotdog.

Luis P.

Yelp
Don't believe the hype! I came here after seeing devour power post several sandwiches from this place and they looked amazing. On10/8 I ordered two fried chicken sandwiches, a burger, a loaded hot dog, and the loaded fries. The loaded fries and burger were pretty. The chicken and hot dog on the other hand were a big fail. Chicken was burnt and tough and the hotdog was undercooked. To top it of, I had put the burger to the side to save the best for last and to my surprise I find a nice piece of tough plastic in there. Never again

Yelp
We found this spot through one of the food instagram we had been following. i've been craving for hotdogs lately and boy did this hit the spot. We had ordered the Dyckman dog, American Dog, Mexican burger and a side of the Dyckman fries. All of this was less than $40 and that is not bad at all. My favorite especially was the Dyckman dog -- the breading of the bun was everything. So crispy and it was on the sweeter side like a sweet bun. I loved how they topped it off with corn. The Texas burger was delicious too but the one thing that took away what it could've been was that it looked bigger in photos? When we saw it, it was a bit misleading on the portion. The fries was amazing, it basically had everything on it but it was a bit pricy as it was almost $10. I like regular fries but if you want something a lot extra, get the Dyckman fries. It's a good place to try but I would resist going here often as it's something to splurge all your calories on. You could easily get addicted

Johanna G.

Yelp
My favorite thing here is the cherry juice, its delicious. I like the hotdogs, the flavors are there but the execution is poor. The bun is waaaay to big for such a skinny hotdog. Wouldn't go out of my my for the hotdog but would eat again.

Yelp
Dyckman Dogs is an attempt by Cachapas y mas to open up an annex next door that fuses Venezuelan dishes with staples of the (North) American takeout grill, namely hot dogs and burgers. Unfortunately, it just doesn't really work. The food itself is good enough: it's a hot dog topped by an unusual fusion of queso, onions, bacon, and spices rather than the standard ketchup-mustard-relish condiments. The problem is the place violates sound principles of queuing theory. A counter-style restaurant shouldn't make you wait 10 minutes for a dish that you can get on the street in just a little more than 10 seconds, but alas, that's just what you'll be doing here. This should not be read as advocacy of labor speed-up. Those who read my reviews know that I a) never blame the staff, b) abhor establishments that squeeze restaurant labor, and c) always push for a structural analysis of what appear to be service deficiencies. In this case, Dyckman dogs could easily fix the problem by following a few takeout grill tricks of the trade, like pre-heating and keeping warm hot dogs so they don't have to grill them from square one. Ditto the hot dog/burger toppings. It's a misfire, albeit one easily repairable.

Yelp
This place is amazing , everything taste good. I tried the Dyckman burger and the Fries loaded and it was great . Both of them are big portion and good flavor.

Yelp
I have lived near Dyckman Dogs since they opened, but it wasn't on my radar until I saw a post on Eater about the best sandwiches in NY. DD's "Choripan" sandwich was featured as one of the best, so I made the trip over. The space was nice and very clean, with a really lovely outdoor seating area. The service was excellent. Unfortunately, even though I arrived only a few weeks after the article came out, I was told that the Choripan was no longer on the menu. I decided to try something else, and had the Venezuelan dog and some fries. The dog was fine, but not my thing - I wanted something that was a little more flavorful. The fries were plentiful and filling. I will definitely go back another time and try the Dominican Dog or the Hawaiian Dog, which were the two that my server recommended. Bonus points if they bring back the Choripan!

Alexis S.

Yelp
The service sucks, they need to fire the server who is very disrespectful and not attentive
google avatar

Elena P.

Yelp
A hard hard no for me. Maybe it's because we ordered delivery. Who knows? The Dyckman fries where soggy and had a strange sandy taste. I got extra cheese dip on the side. The cheese is what ruins it. It's a weird texture. The Capitaleño was good the first 2 bites and then it wasn't. Maybe if we went to pick it up ourselves it would have been better but I doubt it.

Sali N.

Yelp
I'm sorry for the bad picture since it was a screenshot from a video but this burger was delicious and filling. It came with a lot of fries and I can honestly say that I will be ordering from here again. The employees were extremely nice and they even offered some wings to me and my friends.
google avatar

Kenya G.

Yelp
Went here last night with my boyfriend, we ordered two Dyckman dogs and an order of the Dyckman fries. We were gonna eat inside but they were going to close in ten minutes, the counter man who took our order said he could close a little late just for us, but we thanked him and left since we didn't wanna impose. The food itself held up pretty good in the harsh cold, and once we got home to eat, it was still pretty warm. We devoured the food, it was so good! We didn't even get to finish the fries, they were so loaded that we got full pretty fast. For $23, we got our money's worth. I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the area again!
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
I got the Dyckman dog here. 5 stars for the bun and all the toppings -- corn, bacon, shredded cheese, and pink sauce. The bacon especially is perfectly cooked and super flavorful. The hot dog itself isn't great though. Unlike places like Walter's (in Mamaroneck) where the hot dog itself is delicious, here the hot dog is long, kind of tough, and doesn't really add much. This place is actually still a pretty decent option as drunk food, but yeah "poorly executed" (from a previous review) is a good description.
google avatar

Steven C.

Yelp
I honestly really like their food. The wings are better than buffalo ww in my opinion. The chicken sandwiches that I've had are also pretty good. Only once had it been too oily or too breaded with very little chicken. Once my order actually fell while walking down the block and opened onto the ground. When I put it back in the bag & explained to them that the bag ripped, they were more than happy to replace my sandwich with another.
google avatar

Merlin R.

Yelp
Oh my God, Dyckman Dogs was really mind-blowing. I'm so thrilled to be here and the atmosphere is so pretty. Many good choices here, I was blown away with the menu, tried their Dyckman Burger and it was amazing. Staff: extremely good. Attentive and professional. Amazing! Will return and recommend this spot always.

Yelp
Just ordered food from them at 4 am and it was actually the most freshest late night food I ever had. Amazing burgers !!!! Good fries and good pastellitos thank you guys for quick service and fresh food ! Definitely going to order again with them from Uber eats
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
Nice presentation, tasty toppings, but a poorly executed hot dogs. The hot dogs would be better if they were slow roasted... the longer hot dogs cook the better the flavor.
google avatar

Tristan M.

Yelp
Ordered the food at 3 am, even after ordering the food so late it got here immediately, the food was extremely fresh the burger was amazing still steaming hot even thought my Uber eats guy came from pretty far on a bike. Highly recommended

Belle P.

Yelp
The Texas burger is absolutely delicious! I wish I could say the same about the fries and hotdogs but not a big fan. I've ordered twice from here and both times the fries are literally burnt. Like c'mon who wants burnt fries you guys are already pricey enough to be serving burnt fries. I understand a first time but a second time? Unacceptable. I've tried the capitaleño dog and deff not a fan, it doesn't taste as good as it looks.

Scott G.

Yelp
Big hot dog with a lot of tasty toppings and huge side order of fries. Very tasty. But, the hot dog itself was cool on the inside and I had to wait what felt like too long. That said I'd definitely go back.

Megan V.

Yelp
Got delivery through Grubhub and the food arrived fast and fresh. The Dyckman burger and Dyckman fries are insanely delicious. Great addition to the neighborhood!

Janet G.

Yelp
I ordered on Uber eats spent 30 something on food received one soggy sandwich ( which I didn't even order) had my complete order wrong I called they passed the phone around cause apparently no one knows English . I told the man my order is wrong and he said "he did his part" and to wait for my order that he sent my food I said ... Um I got the delivery but my order is WRONG he refused to send MY ORDER ... the order I was delivered was wrong cold and soggy and disgusting. Never refunded me my 30 Something dollars I had to wait 24 hours for Uber eats to contact me back NEVER ordering from them disgusting rude staff and disgusting food
