Yelp
I will begin this review having not read a previous review from a friend and fellow Elite Yelper that has similar tastes to mine, but having been curious about E.A.T. for several months due to the amount of people I have seen inside the restaurant when I walk or drive by.
Finally visited yesterday, and I don't know what all the excitement is all about, because the food was mediocre at best, and a little over-priced for the quality and taste. The establishment is run as two separate entities; a bakery/cafe, and deli/cafeteria style diner, requiring you to stand in line to order you food, and self serve coffee. The dining area is somewhat rustic, and cafeteria-like, with the line for ordering snaking through the seating area; as unruly children run around while being chased by parents as you attempt to consume your meal.
Now I understand why one woman was sitting outside in the cold and rain enjoying her coffee (smile).
Ordered two standard breakfasts with house (self serve) coffee, and paid 18% tip for delivery of our meals. One breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes, and the other with turkey sausage, eggs over medium, toast and potatoes. The food arrived moments later, and the plates were visually appealing at first glance with the sourdough bread as the highlight of the dish. Everything was cooked to my liking, but the taste was considerably bland and lacked the aromas of a morning breakfast. In addition, the coffee was weak and resembled tea. As I dined I noticed that several of the other diners departed with a considerable amount of food remaining on their plates.
Prior to breakfast we purchased a few doughnuts for later, and they were tasty, but the texture was odd.
I am very harsh on breakfast reviews, because its the easiest meal to prepare, requiring minimal effort and doesn't require extreme skills or the ability to apply correct seasoning. I will continue my journey for a breakfast establishment that pleases me.
