This takeout only spot has the MOST affordable and FRESH sashimi and sushi in the entire Bay!! The omakase box features fresh pieces of salmon, tuna, fatty tuna, roe, and scallop for $16.99. Zero fishiness at all. But my favorite is actually the seared salmon—omg it literally melts in your mouth 👌🏻👌🏻 The California roll uses actual snow crab and all their other rolls are good too. Only thing is they don’t open on weekends but they have a location in SF now. Highly recommend!

Extremely delicious and high quality sushi! Was pleasantly surprised since take-out sushi doesn’t tend to be this good. I believe they use real snow crab for the California rolls. Prices are also extremely affordable. I’m obsessed and will definitely return!

When I'm craving sashimi or sushi that's fresh and reasonably priced, I always head to Ebiko. Ebiko is a quick stop-and-shop in Piedmont, wish fresh sushi, nigiri, sashimi and more! It's mainly for takeout. The service is good and friendly! Mainly just the chefs in the back and hostess/cashier. Since it's a shop without seating, the vibe feels like a convenient store with snacks and drinks as well. Parking can be a pain, but if you emergency park, I'm sure you'll be in and out under 5minutes. Overall, great store for sushi and I would always recommend friends to stop by here when visiting!

It's great, I pick up from here frequently. Always super fresh and good, high quality at a good rate. It's not a restaurant, and you don't need to order ahead. The sushi is prepared and you just grab and go.

The sushi here is really fresh. I especially love the Shiraishi bowl, which has a Medley of salmon, tuna, small and large fish roe. They also put egg and crab in there too! So good! Other notables include unagi rolls, 6 piece omakase and salmon rolls. Also, if they are out of your item you want, just let them know and perhaps they can make it for you in the back.

So good! I had 3 different boxes of sushi, it was all so fresh, the fish was buttery and delicious. It’s very good quality, great price. Not going anywhere else again.

My absolute favorite affordable and delicious sushi spot. The one piece of scallop you get in the sushi assortment tray is so good my eyes will roll back in my head. Perfect for taking to a picnic in the cemetery. Seriously. I love this spot. I wish it were open on Sundays.

We've been walking by Ebiko whenever we're in the area and were always curious if it was any good. Thankfully, we recently had the chance to check it out and it is awesome! This is of course not a sit-down restaurant, but a grab and go, which is convenient when you're in a hurry. It also means their overhead is much lower than a traditional sushi joint, so they're able to offer exceptional quality nigiri and rolls at around 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of most sit-down restaurants. With everything so expensive these days, it's nice to know we have an affordable option that doesn't compromise on quality. We grabbed a omakase nigiri (includes 7 pieces), California roll, and a spicy tuna roll. The rice is well seasoned and still holds its texture so you can feel the individual grains and the fish to rice ratio was perfect for the nigiri. The fish was high quality as well. The California roll has real snow crab and tasted delicious - nice and creamy with the avocado and mayo in the snow crab. Lastly, the spicy tuna was one of the best I've had in recent memory. It has a good spice level but not super spicy where it overpowers the tuna. It's perfectly balanced. All of this was around $35, which is a steal for the quality you're receiving. In addition, they also sell Japanese snacks and a variety of drinks. I'm looking forward to trying more items next time we're in the area.

I'm so glad we stumbled upon Ebiko! We visited on a Monday around 12 and found it pretty busy. I'd recommend arriving early, since they seem to have many regulars. The interior was small and looked almost like a convenience store - all to-go, with a sushi fridge and a pantry area of imported snacks. I chose the Salmon Aburi Nigiri and Omakase Nigiri, as well as a bottled Iced Green Tea. The bench outside was occupied, but there were a few more down the block or across the street. The sushi was incredible! The Salmon Aburi was easily my favorite - super soft, practically melted in my mouth. The Omakase Nigiri was also amazing and so fresh. Totally worth the price!

This kase got me saying Oma! (Sorry that was not my best work) I love this place. It's a super small to-go spot on the corner wheee you can grab your fresh rolls or omakase style nigiri. Lemme tell you, the quality is quality-ing! It's so damn fresh and pretty affordable as well. I think my 5 fat nigiri's were like $16 and one of them was some fatty tuna that I loved. The service is always quick because you order at the counter but it's important to note there is no seating. This is meant to be a place where you grab your stuff and leave! There's one wooden bench outside that you can use if it's available but that's it. My only suggestion would be to include a mixed omakase nigiri without scallop so the shellfish allergy girlies can enjoy the variety without having to waste or give away one of the rolls. I mean it works in my favor cuz Devon gives me her scallop nigiri but it kinda sucks for her.

Top quality Sushi. I got the Salmon Aburi (5) melted in my mouth. Good size. And 7 piece omakase. Delicious. On par with restaurants. Tip : still plenty by 2pm. But line was long 8 ppl in front of me and 2 tried to cut the line. Clearly lots of ppl know about this gem of a place. Don't forget to pick up the top quality disposable chopsticks and your desirable amount of wasabi & ginger.

Needed a quick bite to eat that didn't require sitting down in a restaurant on account of wrangling our twin babies. So glad we found this hole in the wall so we could picnic in our trunk while waiting for our doctor's appointment. Rating Breakdown: 2/2 Stars for Taste -- Don't be fooled by the simple decor of this grocery store. The quality of the sushi here is top notch! I was surprised by the cuts of fish that came with the omakase. There were quality cuts like salmon belly, fatty tuna, ikura, and scallops. We also tried the salmon aburi and the sear with the slight char was SO good. The ratio of rice to fish is perfect. They serve the wasabi on the side, which is fine by me! 1/1 Stars for Value -- I could not believe the prices here. The omakase was $16.99 for 7 pieces of nigiri. The salmon aburi was $11.50 for 5 pieces. Also, this is such an Asian thing, but they gave us some quality chopsticks with the meal...I may still be using them. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- You help yourself to the selection in the fridge and check out at the front desk. There was virtually no line when we went. You can get your own packets of wasabi and soy sauce at the front. Bonus star because I would definitely be back if I'm craving sashimi. You can't find quality at this price point anywhere else.

Given that this is considered "grocery store sushi" it's anything but. The fish is fresh, freshly prepped, and delicious. I got the seared salmon nigiri and the salmon was extremely rich and buttery. The hamachi roll was yummy, and the spicy salmon roll was a crowd favorite between my partner and I. As for variety, it looks like they specialize in nigiri's and simple/classic rolls & they do it well. The store is simple and small, along with their sushi, they also have a selection of Japanese snacks. They offer wasabi, ginger, soy sauce, and chopsticks at the counter. While there's no seats inside, there is a bench outside that seems to be shared properly. But if you walk just up the street, there's plenty of benches available!

I had a craving for sushi and randomly found this spot. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and salmon roll all for $15 and the sushi quality was really good! Im super picky about spicy tuna rolls and I can honestly say this one was really good. It's a grab and go spot for sushi so don't expect to sit down and enjoy the food but the sushi is fresh and it's really good for a quick grab and go experience. They also have really yummy Japanese snacks and drinks and their chopsticks are also really good quality which was random but a nice surprise!

I've walked by this place on Piedmont Ave a few times and decided to come in one day for takeout for lunch. Honestly, I wanted to get one of everything when I saw the selection, but I ended up with the omakase nigiri set, salmon aburi nigiri, and the mini uni don. Everything was so delicious and fresh, and the quality of the fish is phenomenal. The best part: all three items only cost me under $40! The store is clean and bright. There are also a variety of Asian snacks available for purchase. I totally plan on returning and trying out the other options. If I lived near Ebiko, I would be here every day!

This place is a GEM. Their omakase nigiri set is amazing. Every piece tasted good, which surprised me because I typically only like salmon and otoro. The salmon belly and otoro nigiri is one of the best I've had. I seriously eat this with my eyes closed as I want to savor every single second it's in my mouth. At an affordable price of $17, Ebiko's omakase set is my go-to when I'm craving sushi.

This is a cool Japanese convenience store/market on Piedmont Ave. They offer packaged sushi, inari, and other refrigerated items along one wall, and some Japanese crackers and other snacks along another. I grabbed an eight-piece tuna avocado roll, a container of seaweed salad, and some sort of puffed crispy snack. There's complimentary chopsticks, soy sauce, and wasabi/pickled ginger at the checkout. I really enjoyed my food. The sushi was fresh and there was a generous ratio of tuna and avocado. I saw a worker bringing out fresh seaweed salad when I came in, so I had to snag some of that. And the snack bag was sneakily addicting. All in all, for just $15 total, it's hard to do much better for a weekday lunch.

I can confidently say that this is some high-quality takeout sushi. perfect for a grab and go meal when you're in the area. There is nowhere to sit inside but there are benches along the street that you could find a spot at.

Ebiko is a takeout-only sushi gem in Oakland with surprisingly high-quality fish for such a casual spot. I've tried just about everything on the menu like the rolls, nigiri, and bowls and have loved it all. The standout for me is their omakase nigiri set, which rarely changes and always includes a melt-in-your-mouth piece of fatty tuna. The quality you get here for the price is hard to beat. Parking in the area can be a bit tricky, and my only wish is that they'd offer sashimi someday.

A true lifesaver during a tough week While I was in the hospital with my brother for a serious cardiac issue, we discovered EBIKO -- and as longtime sushi aficionados, we were absolutely blown away. The quality was exceptional, and the attention to detail was unmatched. Even the to-go containers were thoughtfully designed, the chopsticks were unique and far from conventional, and the presentation of every dish was out of this world. We ordered multiple omakase sushi selections, each piece perfectly tender, fresh, and with an ideal fish-to-rice ratio. EBIKO delivered an experience on par with the finest sushi we have ever had. Highly recommend.

One look at the nigiri offerings inside this place, and you'll find that Ebiko is not your usual grab n go sushi.. This is sushi of the highest caliber in the genre of sushi to go that I've ever witnessed here in the States. Extremely fresh high quality fish freshly prepared, with rice that is still supple and not stone cold totally UNlike what you would find in common cold-case sushi. It was difficult to choose between the omakase nigiri or the Salmon Aburi, but for this first visit I went with the omakase nigiri. Which included tuna (both fatty and norma), ikura, salmon and scallop. Absolutely tender delicious melt-in-your mouth good. We also tried the Unagi, but the pieces were a bit on the thinner side and not quite as impressive. Bonus points that it wasn't drowned in sauce either. Casual Japanese mini-mart style vibe, but just sushi, a wall with Japanese snacks and the checkout counter. Tasteful touches all around. Friendly service, nice chopsticks too! =). Lovely little walking district with plenty of shops and other little restaurants here on Piedmont Avenue. Parking can be a bit challenging, but it's easy compared to finding parking in SF!We will definitely return to try their Salmon Aburi! Can't wait!

The cashier was friendly and offered me great recommendations when I asked her. | f o o d | Considering that it is ready-made sushi in the States, I was mindblown at how fresh and reasonably priced everything was! There's a great selection of nigiri, bowls, and rolls that you can choose from. It took some time to decide because I wanted all of them!! I decided on the spicy salmon roll and tuna omakase set (both recommended to me by the cashier). Both the tuna and salmon were soooo fresh! It felt like I was transported back to eating sushi in Japan. | t l ; d r | I'm surprised this place doesn't have more hype. I found out after that they have a location in SF, too! Fantastic take-out, ready-made sushi that's reasonably priced.

Finally stopped in with some coworkers for lunch after hearing about this place. Walked right in with no line around 12:15pm. All the sushi selections we were available and they keep em coming. Quality of the fish was on point, everything tasted very fresh and high end restaurant like. This is a great spot for high quality sushi without the wait! Even the to-go chopsticks were quality, we all saved them lol

A clean little Japanese grocery shop that has an assortment of local snacks as well as fresh made sushi. With a wide selection of nigiri, rolls, and chirashi bowls, it's a nice place to grab a quick bite during the day. There's usually a line given the small storefront, however it moves quickly as people generally grab-and-go. The quality of the sushi is good, however, the portion size is on the smaller side for the prices they charge. If you do go there for lunch, just be prepared for the fact you may get hungry again in a couple hours. That being said, definitely still worth a try.

Omakase nigiri, there were so many I wanted to pick, I chose the omakase nigiri. The fish are so fresh, you can taste the flavor more, its lighter on your tongue and jaws. It was pretty good. Only minor complaint I have, every nigiri had a slight sour taste to it, it wasnt bad but just not preferred. Extra Really busy place (on a friday 3pm) Very stripped down but they know what they're good at and they focus on that! The chopsticks look so fancy, I can actually reuse these Somehow, the seared salmon nigiri is cheaper here than it is in piedmont grocery and yet, the ones here look 10x better They call it a restaurant, but the way you order is more similar to a store. There is outside chairs for you to eat 5/5

Amazing grab and go sushi for a steal! I always stop by when I'm in the area. I've tried their omakase set before and I liked it. This time around I grabbed the salmon aburi and I found my new go-to. It was so so good and buttery. I also got the tuna avo, which was pretty standard. Would definitely get their nigiris here over the rolls!

Affordable, quick and fresh sushi. Passed by here and was intrigued by the crowd. They have a fridge full of different sushi and a bunch of Asian snacks. I went with a spicy salmon sushi ($9) and a pickled veggie plate ($3) all for under $14. It was extremely fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed the pickled veggies with it. I will definitely be back.

My Japanese family's current favorite sushi place. It is takeout only but just because you're taking it to go, don't think you're not getting restaurant quality fish and presentation. Beautiful chopsticks included too!

It was my first time coming here! Everything was delicious for its price. My favorite was the teriyaki unagi. Those were soooo good! I didn't favor the omakase nigiri as much, but it was decent for its price! I would recommend for people to try this place!

Apparently 2024 was the year of sushi for me - I don't even want to think about how much money I spent on sushi throughout the year, but ebiko offers good nigiri at a decent price! I've been back a couple of times and it's usually pretty good! Some days it tastes fresher than others, but it's always a step above normal supermarket sushi and they give pretty thick cuts. I think the first time I went, I was a bit disappointed because it was as amazing as it looks, but now that I know what to expect, it always hits the spot. Plus I'm a sucker for anything seared salmon, and they always have aburi salmon (seared salmon nigiri) here. The flavor of that one is always on point! The only downside is that parking in this area of piedmont is pretty trash, but I'll deal with it to get decently priced nigiri.

I visited on a Tuesday afternoon around 1PM and found parking to be super difficult. Eventually found a meter spot after circling for 20 ish minutes. Funny enough, two cop cars were near, reporting a broken in car. I walked in and the place seemed neat and clean. It's a simple space, a openshelf refrigerator with sushi, a closed fridge with drink and a few shelves with Japanese snacks. There were about two other people purchasing food while I was there. The selection of sushi was limited and had mostly basics, tuna and salmon, one of them had a variety but was a bit more pricier. I grabbed: [Salmon avocado roll $8.50] 3/5 The sushi roll was quite bland. Most of the time, you can taste the rice vinegar, this one tasted very plain. [Spicy salmon roll $8.95 I think] 4/5 This was a bit more flavorful since it was spicy salmon Overall, the price is great for sushi, but I found the rolls lacking in flavor. Which a simple roll should have some distinct flavors. After a dunk in soy sauce and Wasabi it was better. In addition, the cashier seemed displeased that I didn't tip more than 15%, when it's mostly self service. I grab my own food, put my own food in my own bag, and grab my own utensils and soy sauce. Not sure what I'm tipping for when it's a grab and go shop. Probably wouldn't come again, the parking was just too difficult. The sushi was sub par. Cute shop though!

Such good quality/taste for a super decent price!!! Definitely my go-to sushi spot and I love how it's just a pick and up and go style place. There's a bench or two outside so if you get lucky you might be able to snag a seat.

When we're in the area, this place is a must for the greal deal on high quality cuts of fish they have. I got the classic omakase and my SO got the salmon. Mmm every bite was delectable and fresh. It always makes me want to buy another 5 trays!

Can't complain about convenient, cheap and delicious! Waking down piedmont, I couldn't help but notice so many people near by with sushi at other shops. All of a sudden i saw Ebiko with a small line inside, and took a double take realizing this was the spot everyone was getting their sushi from! Then I remembered that I had bookmarked this exact spot thanks to social media. After my lunch date, I made it a point to go back and bring some sushi home with me. Process was simple and fast. Grabbed a negitoro, salmon aburi and omakase nigiri box all for only $36! In and out within 5 minutes! Once I got to the car I couldn't help but try and it was so flavorful with great fresh texture. Even my leftovers that I had put in the fridge for a while still tasted amazing later! This is a steal! Everytime I'm in the area, this is a must grab for me.

Their sushi was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture. Literally grabbed that beautiful melt in your mouth salmon avocado roll off their fridge shelf and ate it in my car. For only $8.50 too (including tax) was insane. I double checked the price on the screen too because I was in shock. I'd come back for their sushi again to relive this experience and try their assorted nigiri @ $16.50... If this was place was closer to me, I'd go everyday. I love the convenience style of the store (just a shelf of Japanese snacks and sushi of the day) and how open / airy it is! Their wooden chopsticks felt like you were dining at a nice restaurant too. #boujeeonabudget

Is it far from my place, YEP. Is parking a pain in the area, YEP. But would I go back again, HELL YAH. I have been waiting to go or doordash it (which is very popular), and it was so worth making a pit stop when I was kinda around the area. Super cute and new stuff comes out as it runs out often. There is a little bench outside to eat and in the 15 mins I enjoyed my food, it was BUSY. Simple, nigari packs, fridge of drinks, wall of snacks, what more can I ask for?

Such a cute market with a few different nigiri choices and a large assortment of Asian snacks. I bought the assorted nigiri that included tuna, salmon, ikura, and scallop. The fish was so fresh and delicious - it melted in my mouth and was probably the best I've ever bought from a market (vs. eating at a restaurant). Only giving 4 stars because it's a bit high of a price point at $17-18 for 7 pieces, but if the craving is strong, I'd definitely be back.

I'm always on the search for good sushi spots around the area since I usually drive to San Mateo or San Jose. This was a lot closer for me. As I entered into Ebiko, it was a small corner cafe that had already made variety of fresh sushi sets & rice bowls and other Japanese snacks and drinks. I got their omakase set that has a delicious variety of tuna, a seared salmon nigiri set, and the chutoro Don! Overall, the food is amazing! It's fresh, creamy and almost melt in your mouth fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed and I can't wait to return for more!

It's decent for the grab and go concept. Don't expect any high quality sushi that you would get at a sit down restaurant, although they probably are better than most. All the fish were very bland but the texture was good. Sad they didn't have kizami. Would I come back? I live in Sacramento so no. If I lived in the area? Probably not, I would order pick up else where. But it's definitely something to try. Gave it an extra star because of the concept.

Japan TO-GO 5/5 This place reminds me of those little mini-marts in Japan. Filled with a bunch of snacks with characters and pictures but I can't read what it actually is made of. I have to judge if something is good because of the packing and pictures. They also have a wide selection of fresh sushi items packed and ready to-go, and a refrigerator of asian and Hawaii drinks. The prices here seem fair, and after having your meal it feels totally worth it. I got an Ume drink, a mushroom shaped chocolate snack and the uni with ikura bowl. It hit the spot and was so fresh and tasty. The Uni with Ikura tasted just like the ones I had back home in Hawaii. Any time I'm in this area, I have to stop by.

Best / freshest to go sushi you can get. The prices are insane, they compare to Safeway sushi prices but for high quality. It's made fresh all throughout the day. Absolutely a must if you need a quick tasty bite.

Aaah I'm so happy Ebiko is within walking-distance of my office. Decadent, indulgent, always extremely-fresh sushi delights available in an attractive, open refrigerated-display. If you enjoy great quality sushi this is the place for you. The best part is that everything is prepared so you get all the quality of a nice restaurant without the wait - perfect for weekday work lunch.

My favorite sushi place in my neighborhood. Love the grab & go concept. After picking up a roll I'll usually head to Kaiser or the nearby park to eat. Love their chirashi bowl, California roll, sushi sampler, & unagi roll. On hot days grab a yuzu or plum soda from their fridge. They also have assorted snacks on the shelves if you get the munchies.

I went at around 11:30 and they had a lot of sushi left. I also saw them restocking so everything is pretty fresh. I ordered the omakase sushi ($17) which came with 7 pieces of nigiri. The fish all tasted pretty fresh but the rice was a bit hard, cold, and separated. Still tasted good but with its amazing reviews I expected just a little more. If I were in the area and wanted a quick bite, I'd come here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. The drink is from the Tea On, a little cafe right across the street from Ebiko. My absolute favorite takeout sushi spot in Oakland! I normally go for the omakase nigiri, but splurged on a DIY handroll platter for a special occasion. Absolutely no regrets and I could imagine coming here at least once a week if the parking situation were easier

The difference between Omakase restaurant versus Omakase takeout is the Price! This was phenomenally fresh and delicious.. I love the Omakasa Nigiri, salmon, aburi, negihama, and spicy salmon roll.. I want to go back soon!

Go to sushi spot in the area. Cannot beat this place for quality to price. I always get the omakase nigiri and hamachi roll (both for under $30) at the least. They also have snacks like prepped seaweed salad and bags of Japanese chips. I even picked up some kewpie mayo here once (the authentic version with msg). Everything's grab and go--no seating. Just wish they were open a bit later so it could also be a dinner option.

Ebiko consistently provides high quality sushi with very reasonable prices. Parking is tough around the area at times, but once you're inside you just grab and go! Always stocked with a wide selection of nigiri and rolls. You can help yourself to napkins, wasabi & ginger, soy sauce and chopsticks at the counter where you pay. It's always a win with a delicious meal with Ebiko.

A convenient spot for high-quality grab-and-go sushi! This is their original location, and they recently opened another in SF. Parking on Piedmont Ave can be hard, but if you head over to Howe Street, there's free 2-hour parking available. I always enjoy stopping by when I'm in the area!
