El Toro Blanco Review - Greenwich Village - New York - The Infatuation

"It's time to pull the plug on the expensive taco thing. Too many people are trying to pull off elevated restaurant tacos, and at this point, if we're paying six dollars per fish taco, that f*cker better be filled with great white shark meat. It's one thing if you're doing Mexican and really pushing the envelope -like at Empellon Cocina. But fancy tacos just don't get the job done anymore. We were really looking forward to El Toro Blanco, mostly since we like Chef Josh Capon's cooking. Lure Fishbar is consistently solid, and we're big fans of Burger And Barrel. Unfortunately though, we won't be singing this new restaurant's praises. El Toro Blanco only further fuels the "NYC doesn't know how to do Mexican" fire. We will say that Capon and his guys have done a good job making El Toro Blanco a nice space with a great vibe that makes us want to drink tequila. We certainly did some of that that. As for the eating, there are a few highlights on the menu, like the guacamole and some of the brunch items - specifically the Enchiladas con Huevos. But the tacos, which are the focal point of the menu and arrive displayed on platters like bottle service at a club - are a big fail. Most of the three bite, $4-6 wonders we tried didn't even warrant a second bite. The service is suspect too. We've dined here a number of times now and had one waiter who wouldn't have payed attention to us had we been sitting in our underwear, and another who sported serious attitude for no good reason. Some of our entrees also showed up at the table cold. The whole experience just gave us the feeling that El Toro just doesn't have their sh*t together. And honestly, when the best thing on our dinner table winds up being the side of corn, that's a problem. As is a $12, three sip El Toro Margarita that tastes like it's made with bottled Cuervo Margarita Mix. Ultimately El Toro Blanco is a trendy spot that's Perfect For some [perfect_for slug="action-at-the-bar"]Action At The Bar[/perfect_for] and a is slightly less of a party than what you'll find a few avenues over in the Meat Packing District. The food just isn't all that good. But judging by the consistent crowds, that won't matter much in the grand scheme of things. We may be over the expensive taco trend, but clearly there's a market for it. Especially in this part of town. Food Rundown Guacamole The guacamole here is excellent. But be careful, because we somehow paid $24 for guac, four different salsas, and a bottomless pit of chips. That's insane. There's a $12 version too, just be sure to be specific with your server about which one you want. Elote Verde Tamale A fresh corn tamale of sorts. Not bad, not great. The tamale was done up with some roasted poblano chile, queso fresco, and a green chile salsa, but it still felt like it was missing something. Maybe salt. Lobster Ceviche They tried to do a bit too much here. Large chunks of lobster are mixed together with with coconut, mango, jicama, habanero, mint and way too much citrus. While the idea sounded good in theory, we tasted way too much acid and the habanero, which we're normally a fan of, completely overpowered everything else. Costillas Empanadas Again, this was another dish that was just OK. It's a perfectly fine slow roasted short rib empanada, but it wasn't something we'd come back for. Tacos Tacos are the marquee event at El Toro Blanco. Unfortunately, they just aren't very good. How can tacos possibly be bad, you ask? Well, the Crispy Cod tacos, which came highly recommended by our waitress, were downright awful. We didn't even want to finish them. The "crispy" fish was actually sort of slimy, and was jammed up with too much raw onion, too much avocado, and a watery citrus slaw. The Slow Roasted Goat Tacos were another miss. The only ones we liked even a little were the Al Pastor. Put it this way, when we came back a second and a third time before reviewing this place, we couldn't even bring ourselves to order more tacos. That's a problem. Enchiladas con Huevos, Jamon y Queso Aside from the side of corn (see below), this brunch enchilada dish was the best thing we tried. As a matter of fact, it was incredible, and makes us think that brunch is your best bet here. This beautiful plate of hangover cure contained scrambled eggs, some ham, and a cheese quesadilla, topped with pico de gallo, and crema. You want it. Burro con Chorizo A burrito of eggs, cheese, chorizo, potatoes, and pickled jalapenos inside a warmed tortilla. Another solid brunch item, and one that will soak up whatever you drank last night nicely. Carne Tampiqueña We could tell that the skirt steak on this traditional combo plate was going to be tasty, but sadly, we could also tell that it was ice cold. Like, not even lukewarm. It actually tasted like they just pulled it out of the fridge. That should never happen at a restaurant. Pescado Veracruzano A fine entree. The pan roasted gulf snapper came in a tomato and garlic sauce with Spanish olives, capers and pickled jalapeños. We dumped a bunch of corn salad on top of this to make it even better. Elote de Calle Saving the best for last. This is like Cafe Habana Mexican crack corn, but off the cob and tossed a bunch of buttery, spicy deliciousness. This absolutely must be on your table. We ate it with pretty much every other dish on the table (see above). They actually might want to consider putting some of this in the tacos." - Andrew Steinthal

Sietsema’s 10 Worst Dishes of 2018 - Eater NY

"Cauliflower Al Pastor at El Toro Blanco: Some dishes are so perfect that they actively discourage innovation. Pork al pastor is one of those, fragments of pork fitted together into a cylinder that rotates on a vertical spit, constantly bathed in juice from a pineapple affixed to the top. The pineapple juice is a natural tenderizer that softens the meat as it cooks and crisps. So who would substitute a cauliflower, a vegetable so easily overcooked, and pool Oaxacan mole amarillo underneath? The scatter of pine nuts over the top at El Toro Blanco only furnished a distraction." - Robert Sietsema

Chez Panisse Chef Tapped to Lead a Graydon Carter Restaurant - Eater NY

"Ivy Stark, formerly the executive chef of Dos Caminos, has returned to New York from Chicago to partner with John McDonald as the chef of El Toro Blanco. Some of the dishes she plans to serve up at the West Village joint include mashed black beans on corn masa, a Mexican beef tartare, cauliflower fajitas, and chile-roasted fish with a cucumber and citrus slaw. She has also developed a margarita made with cucumber and mint. The new menu should roll out by early March." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

Google
Excellent food choices and delicious, seats are also available but it's limited. Cocktails are delicious, I would recommend the mango margarita. They also have a decent level of alcohol too. I would highly recommend the chicken mole, it was flavourful and portion size was very good. Staff members are very friendly and give you recommendations too and make good and strong cocktails. However what I disliked about the place is they were charging extra money almost $10 extra (perhaps it was percentage based) to use card instead of cash. I could not see this displayed anywhere nor did our server tell us this before we ordered, they also added a mandatory service charge of 18%, this is my first time in New York and most places made it optional and we were happy to give that in cash and pay the full bill in card. Just keep that in mind as you walk into this restaurant.

The food was excellent, the place cozy and welcoming, not a lot of space but still really welcoming

Very friendly staff and excellent food tucked away in a side street! The mixed tacos were fantastic with the fresh taco shells they make! I had the steak, chicken and carnitas mixed tacos. Husband had the Mexican chopped chicken salad with extra cilantro. He loved it! My son had a chicken quesadilla. Everything was very fresh and filled with flavor! Highly recommend giving this place a try!

Google
It's a hole in the wall kind of place. The food I found to be delicious especially their fried vanilla ice cream. Customer service is spotty at best. Simply ask what you want and they deliver. The server is great at recommendation. Only issue is the billing isn't itemized. Overall if you aren't looking to get catered and know what you want. This place delivers on flavor.

Google
The food was really good! The beef empanada with the side dip sauce☝🏻so good!! And the steak platter, I ordered medium and it was flavourful and delicious, no need to add sauce or anything, the steak itself was really tasty, not too salty, just yhe right flavour for my taste!☝🏻will recommend and would like to visit again and try the rest of the empanadas and platters!

They serve really good lunch.

Google
Shrimp Enchiladas were listed to come with rice and beans but only received rice that was very different than flavorful Mexican rice. The rice seemed stale and mixed with some tomatoey sauce. Shrimp enchilada is just as described, there’s only cooked shrimp inside the tortilla. There’s no other seasoning or veggies mixed in there. I don’t think the enchilada sauce is restaurant made, it tastes way to tangy and processed like canned sauces. Overall, this was very disappointing and will not be going back anytime soon.

Great place to have lunch. Their menu is great, prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. I used to frequent this place, but I don't work near here anymore

Yelp
My very recent J.O.B., every Wednesday, My awesome coworkers & I get treated to lunch. Is this simply AMAZING in expensive NYC⁉Today, it's Tacos and the Guacamole is heavenly along with the veggies & steak tacos . Yummy in my Tummy

Yelp
I really like this place as a Mexican option for a FiDi lunch. I always get their carnitas burrito. Their meat is super soft and juicy. And they're big. The Tacombi burritos are super tiny and their meat and rice are sometimes overcooked. Not this place! I like how their empanadas are made to order. They taste so much better fresh. Give them a shot!

Yelp
I have come here twice, the last time I ordered a quesadilla that was a bad choice. I would say this place is an okay place to eat at due to the limited options in the area. Especially if you want a cheap lunch. I came here again on Thursday for lunch with a colleague. When I came I ordered the soft tacos one beef barbacoa tacos, one carnitas taco and a beef taco strips of beef. I really liked the carnitas tacos and would definitely get that one again. My colleague said she really likes their shrimp tacos. The ingredients are fresh and they have an area where you can sit. I would say this is a solid choice for lunch but it depends on what you eat. Stay safe, order the tacos or the chicken which also looks good. This area has a lot of businesses but some are overpriced. The employees were friendly and they have a bathroom. This is a great place to have lunch with a colleague or solo lunch. It is not a very pretty place but I think it is good choice. They have good Spanish music and made me want to dance. They also sell drinks but I was working so I did not try them.

Yelp
Bad service mgr bad attitude. All I asked was for cheese n cabbage for my tacos he said shut up and wait when your food comes out then you tell me what you want. He brought me my food it was loaded with onions etc I told him I didn't want all that I just wanted cheese n cabbage he got pissed took my plate n remade it. Expensive not worth it imation Mexican food.

Yelp
Why didn't I come here earlier. I've been living in this neighborhood for several years and three even know about this hidden gym until recently. If you are in the financial district area and looking for a very good low-key Mexican place run to this place. I had a nice dish of rice and beans and cheese empanada and they're very cordial and professional. The place is clean and the prices are right. It's sad that I discovered it days before I'm leaving this neighborhood.

Yelp
I feel personally offended that this fantastic mexican outpost has a 3 star rating on here. Last night I was craving tacos, and saw them on Uber Eats. Like always, I shot over to Yelp to see what their rating was. I almost passed them by because of the 3 stars, but as I read through the reviews, I realized almost everyone said the food was really good so I decided to give them a try. This is by far the best mexican I've ordered in, and perhaps the best I've had in NYC. I ordered the ground beef tacos which were DELICIOUS, along with the green salsa and sour cream which come with them. I also ordered the chips and cheese and pico. The pico was outstanding, and I ate so much cheese I am embarrassed about it, as I was basically licking the bowl. Please give this place a shot if you're in the mood for mexican food! I know I'll be ordering again soon. Who am I kidding, probably tonight.

Yelp
By far the best burrito bowl I've ever had - if you go to chipotle after coming here you are insane. It was like 20lbs of food for a quarter of the price and they were so fast for pick up. 1000000% will be returning
google avatar

Yelp
They issued the wrong salad and when i called for the price adjustment and spoke to Carlos he told me that whoever took the wrong order would have to pay for it when i was incredibly explicit about the taco salad with steak and they issued just a steak salad. The variance being ~$8-$10 is not the worst however the entire experience from pickup to then phone call was insulting. I would avoid at all costs because if they issue you the wrong order ... you still have to cover it so their staff doesn't.

Yelp
Craving Mexican food on a Friday night, I decided to give El Toro Mexican Grill a shot on Seamless. So caveat: this review is only for delivery. My husband and I really enjoyed the fish burrito bowl, which had ample slices of tender white fish. The grilled chicken enchilada with mole was inferior, with the tough pieces of chicken and stingy amount of mole sauce as the culprits. The star of the show should have been the mole. Sadly, there was not enough of it, and what scant amount there was unfortunately did not stand out in taste. In the future, we'll stick with the fish burrito bowl. The prices and portions were reasonable, especially for the downtown area.

Yelp
The food is salty! The workers are extremely racist towards African Americans & as a Caucasian woman I have to speak up! They talk about their customers as they're sitting down eating. I do not recommend them at all! I have had the pork & beef and it's extra salty while the chicken is tasteless & over cooked tastes very rubbery.

Yelp
El Toro Mexican Grill is definitely a GEM in the Financial District. I came here once and ever since my first time here, I've come at least twice a week. If I don't bring lunch to work, You'll find me here on my lunch time. I could even eat the same dish every day and would not make me get tired of eating the same thing cause the food is incredibly delicious, tasteful, perfectly cooked and put together. I love it here!!!!!!!!! I usually get a Taco Salad, either chicken or steak, BOTH are incredibly delightful. In my opinion the Nachos are THE BOMB, but they are too big for an average person. It is, although, a perfect option for sharing with somebody else. For those with a PASSIONATE and HIGH LOVE for meat, this is your place. They are DEFINITELY NOT shy AT ALL with MEAT portions, THE BEST PART, in my opinion. I'M A PROTEIN LOVER!!!!!!!! The staff is lovely, always smiling, always helping you make bad choices as for food. Simple a GREAT atmosphere as a whole!!!!! El Toro (Not Loco) is 500% recommended. AWESOME!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!

Yelp
Ordered delivery of Carnitas nachos to my job and they arrived a few minutes after my delivery time. The nachos looked great and there was also a small container of what appeared to be black beans on the side. Strange, I never saw that, was this a mistake? Anyhow I opened it and what was stranger is there were no beans in it...just black bean sauce, not soup because it wasn't thick. I don't know, utter confusion. Moving on, the portion is for 2 or one really hungry person. The meat was very tasty and there was a good amount of it however I was very disappointed there was no guacamole or jalapeños and there was no description of toppings on the site.

Yelp
A hidden gem!!! 100% recommended... service was amazing, food was great .. my mom and I had an amazing time!!! We definitely be back.

Yelp
Accidentally ordered from here instead of another place with similar name. Food is fresh so they've got that but it's overpriced when it comes to what you get, how much you get, and taste. Nothing special about the place and immediately makes you think it's a bar when you walk in. The food is basically a small step up compared to hot buffets in the area.

Kimberly E.

Yelp
I came here after going to an indoor playground with my daughter and her friend. I ordered two chicken tacos for the kids, one did not come out, so I asked another associate for it. Upon leaving, I was informed that I did not pay for the tacos. I was very confused considering the bill came out to a whopping 68 bucks for 3 taco plates, two juices, and a margarita. The cashier showed me my previous receipt and I noticed that they added gratuity without my knowledge. I had already tipped 20 percent on top of my initial bill. I ordered this food at a COUNTER, not a table. The lady did not even apologize. I felt scammed. I paid for my tacos (sans grat) and left. Didn't wanna cause a scene with two small children. It felt like a micro-aggression. I'm a black woman with two black children and the assumption that I won't tip probably led to this strange practice. The food is overpriced as it is, but the fact that I tipped them TWICE without knowing was a slap in the face. They also wouldn't give me water, saying that "they didn't have a filter" which....whatever, I just took a cup and filled the kids water from my water bottle. All in all it was a crappy weird experience won't be coming back
google avatar

Marni R.

Yelp
Live in the neighborhood and was passing by with a craving for something spicy. Got three soft tacos (chicken, carnitas, beef) and a side of rice and beans. Portions were generous and meat was tasty but tacos were not packed well for takeout and the soft shells got very greasy from the meat. Rice and beans were lackluster. Tacombi is the better choice in the neighborhood but Los Tacos No. 1 in Tribeca beats both of them easily.

Herb B.

Yelp
The staff charged 15USD gratuity on the bill and after that a tip on top of it without ask. This is the only restaurant did that to me in NYC. Be careful. I felt I was cheated by these guys.

Yelp
The lamb Barbacoa is utterly fantastic. Tucked away on a seldom used street in FiDi, El Toro provides amazing food, ultra friendly service and a homestyle feel, all for a very affordable price. This is bar none the best Mexican food in FiDi. It's a bit hard to find, but just b next to Sophie's it's a really fantastic spot. I've tried the lamb, beef, chorizo, and empanadas, with all being fantastic, by the lamb barbacoa making me fall in love.

Yelp
So...... Saturday I decided to treat my team since we were all working on a Saturday. I ordered from El Toro because we order from there frequently during the week and honestly their tacos are Bomb. We ordered a variety of tacos, rice and beans, chips salsa and guacamole. One of my employees started eating her rice and beans, a few mins later she screamed and spit out a rock. There was a black rock in her black beans. Naturally no one else wanted to eat their food in fear of something foreign being in their food as well. The order was delivered at 5 o'clock on the dot... we didn't get to the food until 5:45 which was 45 mins after EL Toro closes on a Saturday. They're not open on Sunday, so I called first thing this afternoon to complain. I told my story to the manager, and his response was "you're not the first person to tell me this, it happens sometimes".... I couldn't believe it! Apparently other people have complained about the rock in the rice and beans yet they still serve it. My employee could've broken a tooth! A waste of $150 dollars! Never again!

Yelp
Absolute gem of a hole-in-the-wall. I've only gotten takeout, but hope I have a chance to sit down sometime. The burrito is an absolute unit. I once ate a whole one and my body turned into a potato. The food is super fresh and not at all oily. Fast service and the staff seems genuinely happy that you chose their restaurant. The green salsa is ~smacks lips suggestively~. They also just started serving sangria!
google avatar

Steven T.

Yelp
Stopped here to grab some quick lunch. I got the taco salad, it came inside a taco shell bowl. Chicken was nice and juicy, tomatoes were fresh and there was an overload of cheese, which is good. It even came with guacamole, wow! Pretty good value and great tasting unhealthy salad. I think I got this for $7.
google avatar

Lee S.

Yelp
This is the first time I EVER walked out from a place from just looking at the food already made. This place literally has no pride when it comes to nachos. I ordered the chicken nachos, and I am not exaggerating... it looked like something you'd get at a gas station, not something from a "Mexican restaurant". The guy ladled what looked like lukewarm cheese sauce over chips he just chucked into a plastic container (he actually asked if I wanted cheese... um if I didn't then they wouldn't be nachos now would they?). Then, he scooped chicken on it, then topped with cold shredded cheese. Cold cheese! I thought rule #1 with nachos is MELTED cheese!!! Can these people just WATCH a VIDEO on how to properly make REAL nachos?? At a minimum, you have to put nachos on an actual plate which you can put in an actual oven so the cheese gets melted! Duh! And cook it to order. I know this means you have to work harder than scooping but it's gotta be done right. Otherwise you got a lot of nerve taking any money from people for this crap. $9 for gas station crap. A joke, complete joke.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't recommend El Toro for meal pal. My quesadilla had a laughably small amount of filling and the beef had a weird flavor. Guacamole seemed like it was from a bag and lettuce was so brown. I don't know if they just aren't putting in the effort for Meal Pal since there are other reviews that seem good, but I won't bother trying again.
google avatar

Elfreda B.

Yelp
El Toro Mexican Grill you are totally fantastic, I had a lovely experience here yesterday. Place is great. Every item that we have ordered was extra fresh and delicious. Service was fabulous and everybody working here was really nice and generous. I'll definitely be returning in the near future.
google avatar

David John A.

Yelp
Decent food, with generous portions. I usually aim for a burrito bowl, be warned some additional toppings can be $0.50 or more I.e. onions and peppers. The overall meal can be pricey at about $11-$12 depending on toppings. Service is average I never had a stand out experience good or bad.
google avatar

Noe C.

Yelp
Placed was packed and lively for lunch. Staff was courteous and smiled . Ordered a burger on ritual and it was quick and easy for pick up. Burger size was good, made it deluxe for 2.50. I didnt even know this place was close to my job, maybe due to all the construction but def will go again to sit down and enjoy some mexican food. The people at the tables had good looking food.
google avatar

Ameenii M.

Yelp
Very good spot for a quick bite, little overpriced but food is good, this is not a place to take your girlfriend to; it is a place to go to at 12:00 PM to get a quick bite. They have good variety of food and the service is very friendly.

Josh B.

Yelp
Placed order on seamless. Delivered to the correct building, but wrong floor. It took 50 minutes to straighten out. When food finally got to us, my chicken burrito bowl was not hot and I immediately bite into a big piece of cartilage. I ate very carefully after that and found 2 more pieces of cartilage and then stopped. Avoid this place.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Not sure how this business got more than 1 star. Flagrant hidden price: They list the menu price as something like $9.00 but the final price came out to be around $12. Felt like I was scammed. Food wasn't fresh: Lettuce had brown spots and reddish spots. Rice is really soggy and mushy like it was overcooked. Barbacoa is super oily, super salty, lots of small bones. Server didn't make attempt to drain out the oil. I have a oil puddle on the bottom of the container and the food is no longer edible. Service Issues When I asked about the price discrepancy they took out a hidden menu from under the register and showed me the correct price. They just shrugged and hurried me on.
google avatar

Yelp
I am pescatarian and I ordered a veggie quesadilla today. Guess what?! Pieces of chicken were allover that box. Ended up throwing it out!!!! Don't go there, no ethics!
google avatar

Marjorie D.

Yelp
I'm glad I gave this place a try for lunch! I'm not sure why it's not rated as well because they have great tacos at a great price ($9 for three filling tacos). It's a great place to order ahead and grab on the go for pick up. I ordered through Seamless and paid ahead and the order was ready right at the time of pick up! Food: I ordered the chicken tacos with mild salsa. The meal comes with 3 tacos and is very filling for lunch that I had leftovers for another meal. The tacos have a good flavoring stuffed with corn, rice, cheese, and salsa. They give you a side of sour cream and green salsa which I highly suggest to add onto your tacos! Can't wait to try something else on their menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice little place off of Wall Street no discounts for dining in but there are take home menus that have coupons for take out. Service fast and options are limited but the food had a good flavor. Better option than chain restaurants near by

Cohen B.

Yelp
It doesn't look like much when you walk past but I was really in the mood for tacos so I walked in and they made by far the bar carnitas tacos that I have ever had
google avatar

Dane B.

Yelp
A nice little Mexican food spot. The rice and beans and grilled chicken was a little bland if I'm honest. I wish the food had a bit more flavor but I was starving so I guess that made it taste better. Overall a good experience. The space is a bit cramped inside if you're planning on dining in.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
This place makes some great burrito bowls. I picked up the grilled chicken burrito bowl for lunch and really enjoyed it. Everything from the rice and beans to the chicken and veggies were delicious, and the fact that they were all in a big bowl made me happy, because I'm a fan of mixing all that stuff together. I don't think this place deserves the low ratings it has gotten. I would go back if I'm in the area again.

Yelp
This place was fair for a quick affordable Mexican lunch in the financial district. I had the chicken quesadilla. It didn't have much cheese on it but the chicken had good flavor and the serving size was really big. My sister had the barbacoa chicken tacos. They had great flavor and the tortillas were soft and warm. We also ordered cheese dip with our meals. When it was brought to us, it was canned cold cheese, so I asked for something else. They kindly brought us guacamole instead and it was very good with good flavor. The only thing that really brought the rating of this place down was the chips. The chips were stale and hard to eat. The prices were good here as well. In a pinch, this place is good but not something I would seek out. However, my sister said that her meal is something she would definitely like to have again.

Yelp
I've never had the food from here and I don't plan on ever having it. Take your money somewhere else because they are arrogant and have no sense of customer service. My company organized a Cinco De Mayo lunch from here and we were getting the food catered by El Toro. The food was scheduled to arrived at 12:30pm and at 1:30 they still haven't arrived. We were put on hold and passed around when we were calling asking for the food and no one could answer us. They just kept saying the holiday was causing a delay, but isn't that why we scheduled catering ahead of time so they can plan it out properly? When the food finally arrived after 2pm, we went down to meet the delivery guy and we told him to call his manager because he obviously should be able to get ahold of him. When we spoke to the manager all he said was "We've had enough business today. We don't need yours" and he told the delivery guy not to give us the food and we won't have to pay. I'm sorry, but that is NOT good service. Everyone in the office was waiting for the food that was over an hour late and they refused to accommodate us with any type of discount for the inconvenience. How arrogant can they be to say that had enough business and they don't need ours? This place disgusts me for their cheap food, they can't, at the very least, provide good customer service. My company made a quick large group order at chipotle and we were all satisfied with our own custom burritos and burrito bowls and Margaritas on Cinco de Mayo.

Yelp
The Acapulco salad is my favorite. Something. About three simple ingredients and the dressing makes it finger licking good. I gave it 3 stars because there was an incident, but they did good customer service. I'm just more mindful now.

Yelp
There are four people standing in line behind the glass/counter, and your enthusiasm wavers as you walk from one to the next - for some reason you will need to encounter each of the four for your single order, which in my case still came out wrong. I wanted a shrimp and chicken burrito bowl (which is a special order, I know, so it will cost more, I know - telling me this was the full purpose of the third lady), and paid for it, but the shrimp was never around. Will finish writing this review later, because I feel terrrrrible, but just so you know, check your order with this place. I didn't bother going back down to fix it or to complain, because same as previous sentence.

Yelp
Update: I order the ground beef burrito bowl sometimes, it's good when you're in the mood. Today I ordered a vegetable salad that was about 85% black beans -_- Beans are not a vegetable -_- To be fair, I said no rice, although, that doesn't mean pile on the beans, and there was not a great portion of other vegetables in there either... *** Steak salad -- steak was overcooked not tasty :( Paid extra for fresh tomato salsa -- I got watery green stuff couldn't tell what it was; it tasted okay, I guess... Sour cream was also watered down, which didn't help cover up taste of food. Sad I spent $15 on this :( If it wasn't a delivery order I would've sent it back. I guess that's what restaurants count on when they give you blah food delivery. Next time will order sushi.

Yelp
Juicy meats, corn tortillas, onion and cilantro make three good tacos. This is not Chipotle, it's actual Mexican food. 10

Yelp
This place just opened up next to my office..I am a fan of Mexican Food and decided to give this place a try. I understand that they just opened up so I won't be super critical. The Good : The staff was friendly and very helpful..which is one of the reasons for the extra star. Now for the actual food review...I get the concept of choosing various components..and building your own tacos...which by the way is what I had. My tacos had Churriso, Chicken, Rice, Re fried Beans and Salsa. To be honest the only thing that I tasted was the Churriso...everything else was completely blend...no seasoning. There was no flavor profile..I have had more flavor from the food trucks on the corner. I never understand how people go with a concept and forget that the food is the most important thing. If the food doesn't have flavor..I don't really see how anything else can work. Again, I understand that this is their grand opening but...for me ...I will not a be a repeat customer...because no matter how nice the people are...or the place looks...for me it's all about the food... Going back to my food trucks...they might not have good manners or a nice place to sit...but they know how to cook their food...and what a Flavor Profile trully means.

Yelp
We were here on Saturday after Ellis Island. I got the burrito bowl and that was just ok. It was reminiscent of Chipotle, yet somehow cost more and was less tasty. The beans were pretty delish though. My BF got the torta sandwich and I thought it was somewhat tasty but it came with fries that were definitely not tasty. Not sure how I feel about this place. I couldn't even write a bang on review because it was that blase, but definitely know I wouldn't be back and can't really recommend it, soooo, maybe just go elsewhere.

Yelp
After searching for a place on/near Wall St for a fish taco at a decent price, I came upon this restaurant. I have gone here twice. And I normally wait until I've visited a place 3 times, but this is worthy of my review. The fish tacos are absolutely amazing. They are very filling, and healthy to say the least. The price is $9 for 3 tacos. Plus tax it came to $9.80, which is worth it. I will definitely be going back. PS the authentic Mexican soda is the bonus. Unlike the USA they have NO high fructose corn syrup. Amazing.

Yelp
Bottom Line: DO NOT order from this place on Cinco De Mayo. My co-workers and I made that mistake and paid dearly for it. After receiving our food a full 1.5 hours after it was supposed to be delivered, it was cold and tasted lousy. Here is the full story, if you care to read it: On Cinco De Mayo I thought it would be fun to order Mexican with a bunch of my co-workers. I brought up the menu on Seamless and passed my computer around. After all was said and done, there were 13 separate meals in my order. I placed the order at 11:30 and scheduled for a 1:30pm delivery. I figured 2 hours should be enough time to prepare the food. Just after 12 I hadn't received an email confirming that El Toro received my order. After about an hour of back and forth with both Seamless and El Toro, neither of them could see the order I'd placed. Which meant I was in big trouble. I called El Toro one last time, and they said if I came down to the restaurant and gave them my order in person, it would take 1 hour. I go down to the restaurant, where the woman tells me no, it'll take 1.5 hours. It's now 1:20pm. As I debate whether to put in the order, I get an email from Seamless: my order is being prepared! It'll be delivered between 2:35 - 2:45pm. I decided to wait at the restaurant to make sure they don't forget about me or my order completely. While I'm waiting an hour and 45 minutes for my food to be ready, numerous other people come through the restaurant with similar tales. One guy placed the order at 10am, another person at 11. We're all still waiting. Finally at about 3pm the food comes out. I do a quick count - they've shorted us 3 meals. I ask about it, and they bring out the "missing" meals. I also notice that none of the food is labeled - a bit of an issue when there are 13 separate, very different meals. Back at the office, we discover that about half the orders were wrong, but at that point I'm too exhausted to go back and fight them about it. The real kicker is that the food wasn't very good. A bunch of people said their food tasted terrible, and my shrimp quesadilla had about 3 shrimp in it. I understand that Cinco De Mayo is a busy day for them, and that things will be crazy. But they really should've anticipated that. Bring in extra staff to handle it all. If you can't do that, take people off of the walk-in counter and put them on completing these big orders that we're all waiting on. I hope for their sake that they learned their lesson and next Cinco De Mayo, they'll be ready.

Yelp
First off make sure you call ahead and ask them what you intend to order is what you will be delivered. We had ordered Chimichangas and received two bowls of soup. When we had called the establishment they inclined to tell us that they do not know why it says that on the menu. Long story short the manager would not credit us nor send what was ordered. On another note the chicken burrito was inedible and thrown in the trash along with the two bowls of soup. You are better off risking e coli at Chipotle.

Yelp
I want to give this place 5 stars but because most of the staff prepare the food, unfortunately it doesn't always taste like 5 stars. The quality depends on who makes it. On some days, the food is amazing & on others, well, I wish I didn't order there on that day. Overall, the food is pretty good.

Yelp
Not sure why this place has so many bad reviews. I ordered online and had a great experience. I had the bacon cheeseburger. (not a typical Mexican restaurant item I know). It came at lightning speed. The burger was nice and juicy, with lots of bacon and a lovely brioche bun. Fries were also good-hot and crispy. Would definitely order from again!

Yelp
I've walked past this place 100 times grabbing lunch elsewhere and decided to give it a try ........bad choice. ordered a rice bowl with steak.......rice tasted like it was left over from the day before. steak was overcooked, lukewarm, and didn't really taste like steak. If I didn't order lettuce, tomatoes and guac I wouldn't have been able to finish it. I don't like giving places 1 star but this just wasn't good, you would be better served going somewhere else.
