Traditional & modern maki, sashimi & cooked Japanese small plates in a space with a spare aesthetic.
"You generally need to show up a few minutes before this place opens (at 6pm) if you don’t feel like waiting for a table, but it’s perfect for grabbing dinner with a small group. This place serves some of the highest quality fish for the price. Order all the nigiri and Himalayan trout you can handle, and get a flaming seabass roll for the group so everyone can take a moment to feel like they’re hanging out by a campfire." - will kamensky, julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez
"Look around the dining room at Elephant Sushi and you’ll notice that practically every single table is a two-top. Translation: this Russian Hill spot is perfect for dates and Valentine’s Day. And since they don’t take reservations, you’ll have just as much of a chance of landing a seat as all the other pairs of bad planners. Get a few rolls to share, plus the salmon sashimi that's served on a hunk of Himalayan salt. " - julia chen 1
"You’d think there’s always a line at Elephant Sushi because this place is pretty small, but once your inside, you’ll quickly realize that you were wrong. The quality of the sushi is excellent, and we typically load up on sashimi, but if you’re in the mood for a roll, try the White Out with yellowtail, avocado, seared butterfish, and garlic ponzu." - will kamensky
"Elephant Sushi doesn’t have a ton of seats and is only open Wednesday through Sunday. They also make some of the best sushi in the city for around $30 per person. Both of these details pretty much guarantee this place is never empty, but it’s worth waiting for a flaming sea bass roll and himalayan trout served on a block of himalayan salt." - will kamensky
"You generally need to show up here a few minutes before it opens if you don’t feel like waiting for a table, but this small place is perfect for grabbing dinner with a date. Get the white out roll with butterfish and truffle oil, the Himalayan trout served on a salt block, or the flaming sea bass roll that’s lit on fire tableside." - Taylor Abrams, Will Kamensky
