It's located inside of DeKalb market. I wanted to try it because of the reviews. I ordered the quarter chicken with two standard sides. The chicken was OKAY. Not a huge fan of white meat so I asked for dark meat but the dark meat passed for white because it wasn't very juicy. Do I think it's worth the price? Not really because I mean it's just chicken HOWEVER the sides were great and they don't skip on the portions. Do I think everyone should try it? Sure why not. You're not eating there every day. The service was fine. They're busy so that's always a good sign. Def 4/5

I only went here because it had a long queue & I thought the menu looked quite good. The venue opposite was also playing song banging tunes. Sadly, the food wasn’t very good. The chicken tasted like the chicken that they sell cooked in Costco. Mass cooked & minimal, if any, flavour. The mac & cheese was just ok. The broccoli was nice though. The service and staff were busy but still quite friendly. Would I eat here again…No! I can think of better things to do with my money.

I ordered with the Rudest Cashier I’ve ever encountered in NYC I could not believe her disgusting attitude! I ordered Chicken with Sweet Plantains and Mac n Cheese to Go. I received Sweet Potatoes instead of Sweet Plantains Yuck!!! The Chicken was RAW in the Middle by the Bone just Undercooked Disgusting! The Mac n Cheese was thick like they added Cornstarch into it Yuckkk!!! The Sweet potatoes were Undercooked also Disgusting!!! The Restaurant has this Nonworking Number listed so I couldn’t call in a Complaint for this Order. This was on 6-7-25 at about 5:30pm. That Cashier was the Absolute Worst Person to Have at the Register taking Orders over the Food being Bad and Undercooked She was the worst part of this entire experience. I will never buy Food from this place again.

I’ve heard about them for a while and I was very eager to try out the food. It did not disappoint, I had the rotisserie chicken/ plantains/ Mac and cheese and string beans. The food was very delicious. The service was amazing, the manager Paige was very polite/ friendly and helpful. She knew the menu inside out and gave good recommendations. . Can’t wait to visit again to try other things on the menu.

I had the pleasure of trying Fat Fowl in Brooklyn for the first time, and I must say—Chef Shorne is truly a master of his craft! The food was nothing short of amazing. I had the grilled oxtail sandwich, and it was packed with rich, bold flavors. I also tried the rotisserie chicken with mac & cheese and plantains on the side—every bite was absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the experience itself was great. I loved the open-kitchen setup, where you can watch Chef Shorne and his team in action. It adds a personal touch that makes you appreciate the passion and skill behind every dish. If you’re in Brooklyn, NY, and looking for Caribbean cuisine with a creative twist, Fat Fowl is a must-visit. From one chef (based in Texas) to another—C’est bon! Highly recommend!

There are few things in life that bring me a quick shot of euphoria like some Elite Bird. Rotisserie Chicken gotta be the most underrated food group. I’ve heard a lot about the Fat Fowl chicken, a Caribbean inspired eatery tucked away in a corner of DeKalb Market over in Brooklyn. When I walked up, it had all the makings of a bomb chicken spot: chickens slowly rotating in the rotisserie oven, an open kitchen where they are cheffing up side dishes right in front of you, and employees grinding with 1 airpod in. However, my optimism turned to depression when I saw the menu and read a half chicken and 2 sides was $25. That’s a TICKET. Market rate for a half chicken and 2 sides is $15-$19, 25 is nasty work. I heard a lot about their oxtail grilled cheese as well, but $21 for that was just out of my budget. Maybe it’s a me problem as my pockets are on featherweight. I just gotta raise my income. I got the half chicken with a side of plantains and black fried rice, which totaled $30.48, as Black Fried Rice was a “premium side.” It was a pretty standard portion size for a half chicken and 2 sides. I was so ready to hate, but this chicken warmed my soul. Truly some elite bird. Piping hot, perfectly cooked, moist, fell off the bone, and the skin was delectable. A nice little char on it. It came with a little Caribbean BBQ sauce that paired well. Sides were great too. I’m not letting price affect my rating, and giving it a 9.3. It’s up there with the Casa Adela’s, Caravan Chicken, Don Ceviches of the world. I will leave you with a quote from the celebrity chef, Shorne Benjamin: “I want the media and food industry not to look at Caribbean cuisine as just traditional comfort food. Menu is a bit pricy for rotisserie chicken that you can get anywhere. Went there for the oxtail grill cheese that was good. Didn't like the fact that they put the waffle fries on top of you side & in my case was on top of my mac and cheese. No real drink menu but you can bring your own drink & eat at their stand.

Idk WHAT happened today but this chicken isn’t charred like usual, isn’t as seasoned as usual, and was a big wet mess. Tasted absolutely no honey lavender. They sent me sweet pothos instead of mashed potatoes without asking me first. Wouldn’t be much of an issue if my family and I didn’t dislike their sweet potatoes. I’m pissed, Ngl. I splurge at this place every paycheck but won’t order again unless I’m in person. Really stingy with the honey lavender sauce too. I usually get 1-2 that come with the chicken. I got NONE. Only my extra sauces that I paid for. Black rice is also completely stuck together like pudding.

NEW AGE CARIBBEAN TAKE ON BOSTON MARKET I usually get sidetracked when I'm in food halls but trust me it's worth the trip to the back in order to sample what Chef Shorne is cooking up back there. I had the pleasure of eating some of Chef Shorne's cooking at a Caribbean foodie event and his passion for his craft was evident. So when I found out that he had a spot in Dekalb Market , I knew that I had to pull up... and pull up I did several times over! I enjoy a flavorful dark meat piece of rotisserie chicken. So when you add in subtle notes of lavender and keep the meat moist, this reinvigorated rotisserie chicken becomes the shining star. The Honey Lavender sauce is good for a couple drips upon reheating but is not necessary. A shoutout goes to the Black Fried Rice which is a wonderful take on the Haitian classic without skimping on djon djon mushrooms in the creation of this side that serves up main dish energy. Don't skip the Pickled Mango Slaw! I'm so satisfied with the Organic Lavender Rotisserie Chicken that I still haven't made it to the Oxtail Grilled Cheese. I love to support my fellow Caribbeans whenever possible and a little more intentionally during February for Black History Month and June for Caribbean Heritage Month. I highly recommend that you also pull up a stool and enjoy this slamming food.

Had the half chicken with 2 premium sides combo. Ordered it with the Mac n cheese and honey sweet potatoes. All tasted decent, but was not wowed. The chicken is soft and juicy, but very mild flavor. Mac n cheese was very creamy, but almost flavorless, the sweet potatoes were good, but not my favorite. Was excited by the overall dish. The gentleman that took my order seemed a bit serious and like he needed to warm up to being at work. I will keep trying different dishes from this place, I love their oxtail and the owner is a wonderful vibrant Person.

First place I ate for the new year. Right under the old Albee Square mall in the maze of restaurants- something healthy! I think I was excited to see black rice I can't lie; but was very unhappy when I bit into it and it was too al dente. They did not get that right. But the lavender chicken was spot on. It had some lavender honey that I drizzled over top that elevated the flavors perfectly. The Mac and cheese was doing what it was supposed to- more creamy than cheesy and I prefer it that way. I made the mistake of walking away while my order was being prepared and missed a seat at the long counter. But there are plenty of other seats all around. I paid extra to get "premium sides" and then couldn't eat the rice- how about them apples (thumbs down). And they offered drink service which didn't matter to me because I already had wine but that was nice. I would try it again the food looked stunning and almost tasted as good. The chicken was perfect but the side needed help. 3/5 I would not recommend the black rice.

The chicken was spectacular, and omg, that mac and cheese is SO good. Come to think of it, the plantains and green beans were also delicious. While I did enjoy the oxtail grilled cheese, I have to get the chicken with the sides on my next visit. The service is fantastic, and you can tell that the staff are happy to be working there (it shows). I also loved that we got two seats by the bar and watched the chef in action. I can't believe it's taken me this long to eat here, I will most definitely be back soon!

Came from Minnesota with this restaurant on our mind! The Chef and his team did not disappoint. From the flavors in each dish, to the welcome home feeling you get from everyone and the service to my kids and ourselves! Hands down we loved everything about our experience at the Fat Fowl tonight. One of the few restaurants I can't wait to come back and help about. Blessings to you all for years to come! Thank you again!

One of the grms in Dekalb Market. Very flavorful chicken. sides are excellent accompaniments. Never sat at counter. staff is always friendly.

First time trying out the food here and I am blown away by how good the oxtail grilled cheese sandwich is. It's $22 and you get this medium size oxtail sandwich. The sandwich is toasted and the oxtail is extremely flavorful and most of the bones are removed. I did find a piece though so be careful. The flavor of the oxtail is slightly sweet and when you get towards the middle of the sandwich they have some of the fatty pieces of the oxtail which I enjoyed. It was not over filled with cheese. The scotch bonnet pepper sauce is a must try. It has medium heat and it goes so well with the sandwich. Service was prompt and attentive.

Walking through the food court, I was surrounded by so many good food options but ultimately decided to try Fat Fowl because of how delicious the chicken and sides looked! I got the quarter with 2 sides ($19). I chose waffle fries and charred broccoli, and my friend got waffle fries with maduros. Some of the sides are premium, such as the Mac and cheese, string beans, black fried rice, and mashed potatoes. I was a bit disappointed that they were $3 extra for these sides because I wanted to try them and thought they would be included in the price. The chicken leg was so juicy, fresh, and well flavored. I also enjoyed the waffle fries, which were perfectly seasoned and had the right amount of crisp. The charred broccoli was a nice balance to the otherwise heavier meal. As for the maduros, they were too sweet for my liking and I think they would have done better with the syrup that was coating them. Overall, a satisfying meal. Service was friendly and patient. I would be interested to try the oxtail grilled cheese in the future.

Wow let's start with the flavor!!!!! The food here is exceptional! Located in the vibrant DeKalb Market Hall, you'll find this gem tucked away in their humble corner serving bold and delicious meals! The whole chicken with maple sage sweet potatoes, creamy Mac and cheese, and garlic string beans are everything you need for comforting your soul!!!! Their honey lavender and tamarind bbq sauces are also incredible condiments for your chicken, they add even more depth to the flavor profiles and are truly a delightful combination. There is limited seating and space so you'd want to secure your seat or find somewhere that you can comfortably get into your delicious meal. The only reason I gave this a four out of five is because the service could use some improvements. The staff weren't the most helpful and while requesting each item such as a fork and napkins, you were made to feel like a bother. That's the only thing that made this a four. The portions are great and I highly recommend trying their food!

Fat Fowl is a must try at the Dekalb Food Market. Walked around the whole food hall and decided to get this after seeing their chicken and delicious sides. For about $30, we got half a rotisserie chicken and two sides -- Mac & cheese and green beans. The server was super nice and gave us a big piece of chicken. The Mac & cheese is one of the best I've had -- well seasoned, packed with flavor but a tad bit salty but the flavor made it worth it. The green beans were salty as well but good as well. Overall, a satisfying meal.

Fat Fowl has been on my to try list for awhile. It's located at the back of the food hall on the opposite side of Trader Joes and is counter seating. I'm torn we ordered several items including the raved oxtail grilled cheese. Chicken - amazing moist I had the white meat option. I didn't really taste any of the touted lavender. I had the Tamarind BBQ sauce on the side. Little too sweet for me. Paired with sweet plantains. Didn't care for them there was a sweet glaze on them. Cooked well but not for me. Friend loved it. Charred broccoli with sambal vinaigrette. Again too sweet. The garlic string beans a friend ordered was more to my liking so we swapped. Mac and cheese - just ok. The only eats mac & cheese teen with us was less than impressed. Oxtail grilled cheese - if you like a healthy amt of meat on your grilled cheese sandwich then . I would have liked more cheese and less oxtail. It was an oxtail sandwich with cheese not a grilled cheese IMO. I wanted that cheesy goodness with about half of the meat. Service was good. For me the chicken and the green beans were the star and I would go back for that. Otherwise I found some of the items I ordered were slightly too sweet for me. But my out of town friends loved it

Don't walk, RUN! Omggg my taste buds are extra excited thinking back to everything I ate. I came by on a Thursday evening. There were so many people dining in and ordering food but the service was continuously moving. I sat at the counter and was serviced by Devon. He was extremely friendly and helpful. All of the food options looked so good and were constantly being freshly made. The chicken seems to be very popular, as many people ordered it and it was constantly being replenished. Here's everything I tried: Oxtail grilled cheese: 10/10 soooo yummy! Fries (waffle fries): 6/10 basic, too fried for my liking Plantains: 9/10 reallyyy yummy. The edges were slightly burnt, crispy and sweet! Black rice: 10/10 so good! Roasted corn w/ coconut: 10/10 so flavorful! Mac & cheese: 8.5/10 creamy, (extra yummy with the sauce from the sweet potatoes) Sweet potato: 10/10 omggg so bomb! Overall I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely be back!

i'm hesitant to write a review only because it's already so popular and I don't wanna have to wait longer for my food lol. But listen, this is some of the best plantains you will find in the city. Period. all of their food is just so good. They really put soul into their food. Not only have I eaten here several times, but I always take friends and family here to try it when they come to visit me. The jerk grilled cheese is a MUST. And you can't go wrong with any of the sides. It is a little pricey but I don't mind paying for something worth the price. They will let you try any of the sides before purchasing. And it's always fun to sit at the bar and watch them make the food while you're eating because the vibe is good and they're always smiling.

This spot is located in Dekalb Market, and I stumbled upon it and decided to give it a try. There's some counter seating, but it seems to mostly be a takeout spot. I got a half chicken with two sides, mac and cheese and sweet potatoes. The portion sizes are good, and the server was pretty efficient (sides are all pre-made, so he's just scooping and packing). The chicken was good but nothing crazy. I really liked the sweet potatoes but only in small parts and thought it was a bit too sweet to have such a large serving size of, and my boyfriend enjoyed the mac and cheese (which was a bit too heavy for my taste).

Can you say amazing? This place is located in a food hall of several choices, but soul and Caribbean food fusion was the way to go. First, the people are beautiful. The employees are very cordial and seem to have a good time. Next, we tried the oxtail grilled cheese with plantain. So good, look at the pic. As we were at the counter eating, one of the employees told us we had to try the sides. And gave us a trio of sweet potatoes, corn, and mac and cheese. That spicy corn, delicious. The macaroni, cheesy. And those sweet potatoes, could be dessert.

I wanted to love this location but it was simply, just okay. The sides were delicious, but the chicken it self wasnt anything special to me. The owner was actually running the cashier, who I didnt know, he wasnt the kindess and spoke really low. But his employee was so kind and so sweet to pack my food since i was in a rush. She was very well spoken and kind and took it in consideration even thoughbit was a bit busy.

So let me first start this off by saying that I am a Jamaican and I have come from Jamaican food eating household. So with that said when I saw that there was a restaurant that sold oxtail grilled cheese sandwiches I was perplexed as I've always eaten oxtail more as a stew on the bone. Nevertheless, I ventured to Brooklyn to partake in this delicacy sandwich. When I arrived outside of the mall where it's located , I was able to find street parking right outside. I took the escalator down to the lower level and was bombarded by the delicious smells of all the restaurants that are down there in the food court. I read somewhere before going that the restaurant location was in the back of the food court. Lo and behold, I walked right into FAT FOWL and hopped in their line. Everything is colorfully decorated and I like that they have seating right in front of the kitchen, so you can watch them make your meal. Unfortunately, when I went to order the majority of the drinks that I wanted to try were not available. This is typical for a West Indian restaurant, but I digress lol (iykyk). I was able to grab a seat at the counter which overlooks the kitchen area and in about 20 minutes I was handed my food. The sandwich cost about $21 and then, if you want a side of either plantains or fries, it's about 5 to 6 dollars extra. I went with the waffle fries. When I received my food, everything was hot and fresh and I of course had to check out the oxtail grilled cheese sandwich for myself. The oxtail is tender and juicy however, if you're looking for traditional Jamaican spices or flavor on the oxtail, you will be slightly disappointed the sauce on the oxtail, more like a barbecue sauce flavor, slightly sweet, think almost like a pulled pork sauce with no spice. The bread that it was on was buttered and deeply toasted and at times the top of the bread would kind of chop up my pallet, but I still continued on eating sandwich lol. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned and delicious. The sandwich overall was pretty good. I'm not quite sure if I would make the trip all the way to Brooklyn for it especially coming from New Jersey however, I was not disappointed at the overall experience or the amount of food that I received for 35 bucks. Unfortunately I can't speak too much about the service because it was pretty basic there weren't any people who stood out or went above and beyond a normal experience a small food court restaurant. So should you go there? Yes. If I'm ever in the area again, I would go and try some of the other items that are on the menu.

Do yourself a favor.... Run, don't walk, to Fat Fowl. Came around lunch on a weekend and it was quick, delicious and hearty. It was recommended to me by a colleague and she did not disappoint! The shop is conveniently located in Dekalb food hall - with tons of other options. I'd recommend you stop by Fat Fowl on at least one of your visits. I had the oxtail grilled cheese and black rice. Both were flavorful and delicious. I have a thing against oxtail with bones and you can tell this establishment takes it time to do it right. There are a few stools and the counter in front but otherwise, plenty of seating throughout the hall. The young lady who delivered the food was sooo kind. Love seeing people smiling. Makes such a difference towards the experience. I took a trip from Manhattan to BK in the middle of the workday to try this and I can confirm that I will be coming back!

I read the reviews. I saw the pictures. Yet I still wasn't prepared for the how amazing the food would be! I ordered the branzino with mac & cheese, and black rice. I watched my branzino being cooked to perfection as I waited...salivating! I went on n a Saturday night and the food hall was bustling but seating was plentiful. I can't wait to visit again!

The name got my attention! How could it not! Fat Fowl! Located in Downtown Brooklyn in Dekalb Market is a foodie heaven, which seriously is a collaboration of Brooklyn's diverse culture and food (yeah that's a whole different review) you will find "Fat Fowl." The line told the story, but still the mid day lunch crowd waits patiently for the chicken that you can smell roasting. When they open the roaster this is a sensory experience, you can smell the aroma, you can see the chicken over the flames, and you can hear the fire crackling. The cashier was extremely patient with all my questions and offered great suggestions for fowl (which according to the sign is fat/phat...I love the NAME...pun intended). I heard a lot about this spot. It is the "it" place in Brooklyn right now. However, I'm not easily impressed especially by Caribbean food, because it is seriously on every corner from Fulton St and Nostrand Ave in Bed-Stuy to Flatbush Ave and Church Ave in Flatbush. The Flatbush neighborhood boasts the largest and most diverse Caribbean-American community outside of the West Indies. Yeah, so good authentic Caribbean food ain't (ain't) hard to find. I had to find out why this vendor was a standout, I had to check it out for myself. Wowwwww, it did not disappoint. The chicken was hot off the grill, tender, and fiercely traditionally Caribbean roasted (giving that old school Flatbush Avenue flavor). The Honey Lavender Barbecue sauce flipped the tradition script and gives it that new school cultural twist. I understand the hype! I've been around traditional Caribbean cooking my entire life and alot of restaurants come close, but the flavor and aroma of authentic Caribbean chicken cannot be duplicated. This right here is traditional black drum on the sidewalk Eastern Parkway West Indian Day Parade Chicken meets millennial and it works. This is definitely "it!" You will not be disappointed! I'll be back!

5 stars for the service alone, but the food is also worth it. There are a lot of great options in the Dekalb market hall, but be sure to check out Fat Fowl. Put in a large order via Grubhub for my team a day before an event we had in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, there was a mixup and the order did not come in until 30 minutes before we came to get the food. The staff here hustled to get the order together as fast as possible. My team loved the food, particularly the chicken and black rice. Chicken was jerk inspired and seasoned to perfection. Mac and cheese was also really good. Made sure to let Chef Shawn know that his team were rockstars and he personally thanked us for supporting.

The food is always good. But not worth it, the service is terrible, out of 5 people only the girl cooking was doing something.

Th service really pulled in!! Dekalb market can be overwhelming with so many vendors. Luckily this was right outside the escape room. I had time to spare before my game. I ordered quarter chicken with black rice. The rice and the tamarind sauce for the chicken were the stars of the show! Shower! The chefs everyone was so kind and explained the origins of the dishes. The kitchen is open and you can actually see the food being made which was cool. Seat is available via high top. Loved it

Fat Fowl is all that and so much more! This was my first time visiting this restaurant with my goddaughter and our experience was absolutely amazing. I decided to visit based on IG foodie influencers reviews, Yelp reviews, and Google reviews! This will definitely be bookmarked as one of my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn. I decided to try the organic lavender roasted chicken quarter and I chose white meat. My two sides were sweet potatoes and sweet plantains. My first bite into the chicken wing was simply love at first bite. The rest of the chicken was juicy and very tender. There are various sauces that you can choose from for your chicken and I tried the honey lavender which was pretty good. Macaroni and cheese is delicious and extra cheesy. I enjoyed my entire meal very much. My goddaughter decided to try the oxtail grilled cheese sandwich with waffle fries as her side order. She also wanted macaroni and cheese as an additional side order. She also enjoyed her meal very much. I ordered another oxtail grilled cheese with waffle fries for my son to go but when I arrived home, I discovered sweet plantains instead of the fries. It was their mistake but not enough for me to not want to come back because their food is delicious. Founder and Executive Chef Shorne Benjamin has a wonderful business here at Fat Fowl. Fat Fowl has been at Dekalb Market Hall at City Point for almost two years. Staff is wonderful, pleasant, and friendly. I wish them continued success and longevity. On a scale of 1 - 10, I would give this business a rating of 10. On another note, a customer who was sitting next to me told me that she eats at Fat Fowl at least three times a week, now that's dedication and pure satisfaction.

Came on a blustery cold day, and no better way to wind down with tender, slow cooked oxtail sandwiched between 2 pieces of toasted sourdough. The sandwich was very good, the perfect amount of meat. Love the melted cheese. Food didn't seem that hot even though I dined in, noticed I had waited quite some time too. Not sure if my food was waiting on the side. Added a side of plantains for I think $4, substituted for the fries. Only kicking myself for skipping the fries, or maybe trying a different side. I'm obsessed with plantains and never had any I didn't like, but oddly I wasn't fond of these. It tasted as if it was soaked in vinegar. Is this a thing? Caught me off guard. Would still come back again.

Wowowowowow - come early for the oxtail grilled cheese! My friend came in the evening and waited on the line only to find out that they had sold out. We went another day middday and lucked out - there wasn't too long of a line (maybe 20 mins) and they had the oxtail grilled cheese! We had it with a side of maduros, sweet plantain. The sandwich is packed with oxtail - the sourdough bread is crispy and full of flavor from the oxtail. I just can't get enough! The maduros were definitely blackened and quite sweet. We paid about $25 for both. There is some bar seating and some seating area beyond the store front. I'll definitely come back to try the chicken and honey lavender sauce!

I've been here a few times and the only thing I like is the food. The service SUCKS!!! The owner isn't that friendly and has no personality, he's more there because he wants to show his face to let everyone know he's the owner, probably the only thing he ever owned so he needs the world to know. I saw a review with a female saying he was super nice, must be a friend he asked to leave a review or she has a fat backside. The rest of the staff isn't helpful at all except for this one Hispanic guy, the rest is giving mental midget vibes. Very lazy people with personalities of a sloth. I go there if I'm at Trader Joe's and I'm absolutely starving. Customer service is big for me and that place isn't it for that. They also need to keep that little ledge that we sit and eat at clean. You always have to ask someone to clean it, it's always filthy. Maybe they should pay attention after every customer leaves.

Mac and cheese outstanding. Plantains amazing..Different...maybe cooked in some alcohol.. Quinoa amazing ginger, thyme and something more.. Green beans charred garlicky amazing! Chicken amazing by itself, great with chimichurri, amazing with honey lavender, bbq like with tamerind... Cool corner of dekalb but seating at counter is limited... Not a fan of sweet, so black rice needed the chimichurri, but loved the oxtailgrilled chicken and plantain!!! Staff is lovely and guided me to Shandy soda, which i loved..

You can find this gem downstairs from Target at the DeKalb Market at Albee Square. My kids and I love this place!! The food is so freaking good. It's so good we went three times in one week! The service is always excellent the staff is very polite especially Stella and Devon. My daughters enjoy watching Devon make the BEST MAC AND CHEESE! My kids and I love Mac and cheese; it's cheesy, and you can taste the spices. They're always playing good music. It's always a vibe. I don't eat green beans, but I can eat theirs. They make garlic green beans. OMG, they're delicious!!!! My kids also love them. The oxtail grilled cheese OMG, it's a must-try, trust me!! I'm pretty sure we'll be back again this week.

Best rotisserie chicken ever!!! I met chef Shorne at a food event and had to make a stop at his restaurant. On a Thursday at 6 the line was long but they did their best to keep cranking out food and the line moved smoothly. They would stop taking orders in 10 min increments to ensure that those waiting for orders were not waiting long. The process was actually really efficient and it didn't slow down service at all. On to the food. We had the oxtail Mac, the oxtail grilled cheese and the quarter chicken with 4 sides. When I tell you every side and entree hit!! The chicken was the moistest I've ever had and the Mac and cheese was cheesy and flavorful. the black rice was a surprise and was awesome. But the best was that grilled cheese was mouth watering. The jam inside was sweet and gave a good balance. The oxtail Mac and cheese was another winner. I say at the bar setup and watch all the workers cook enthusiastically, and give each other banter while working hard. I really loved that because it showed that they all are devoted to the cooking and pushing out good food.

Amazing service, I got to meet the owner, he is so humble and nice. The food is to die for! The oxtail grill cheese is out of this world. They do classic sides so well (especially the green beans and Mac &cheese). I recommend everything on this menu. It's located in this cool food court area that is very casual and asthetic.

Just ok, the meats were better than the sides. I think the maple sweet potatoes were actually burnt, a lot of black char on them. The chicken and oxtail were good. Not a complaint, just an observation, almost everything on my plate taste sweet, even things that I wouldn't expect to be sweet, such as the black rice and the oxtail sandwich.

You don't want to pass this spot up. Although roasted chicken is the main feature, the side options absoultely are outstanding. Can't remember having plantains this good. A vegetarian mecca. But the oxtail grill cheese is IMHO the star! Omg it was a foodies dream come true. Cooked to perfection and plenty of oxtail. From the first bite, it was an experience to savor. I don't usually drink sangria but since everything was so good I had to try it. It did not disappoint. A downside was that it did take about 20 minutes for the order to come up and it wasn't during a busy time. Still, worth the wait.

The food is good, but heavy. I expected a sit down restaurant. I had the macaroni and cheese with shredded oxtails. The plaintains were not cooked enough for my taste. We also had the chicken and green beans which was okay.

Words cannot describe the joy I felt biting into that crunchy cheesy meaty sandwich. I ordered only 1 item but boy does that item pack a punch. Delicious doesn't even truly capture what I tasted. If you come here please do yourself a favor and order the oxtail grilled cheese. I'm obsessed. It takes about 15-20 mins to make. Let's just say the wait was worth it. Great maduros too!

We ordered a lot of food and were so full!!! This spot is downstairs in a food court with so many options. I'm glad we ate here. The service is great and the staff look like they are happy working there. We sat at the bar and watched our food being cooked; way to get me hungry!! It's a busy and bustling area with a Trader Joe's nearby. First of all, the rotisserie chicken must be the best I have ever had. The meat is tender, flavorful, and juicy. It's worth every penny. The skin tastes so good and I don't normally eat skin! Wow! It needs no sauce or condiment. Just eat it. The black rice is more like wild black rice instead of Haitian black rice which is soft and shrimpy. My bad for expecting Haitian rice. The quinoa was okay, not the best side. I would have loved some traditional Caribbean style rice and peas instead or maybe something with potato. The sweet plantains are delish as well as the waffle fries with this incredible bbq sauce and honey lavender dip. The shrimp burger was tangy and mangoey on a soft brioche bun. Anything inside of brioche is a winner for me! Lastly, the oxtail grilled cheese. They definitely give you a lot of meat in it, less cheese. Again, worth the money but it would have been better if the oxtail was spicy. Also, maybe adding tang like the pickled slaw would elevate it. Overall, still yum. If I lived nearby, I would come for the chicken day after day. Alas, I must savor my memories and pictures instead! Go get some for yourself!!

I stumbled across this place in the DeKalb Market Hall while serving jury duty in the area and honestly my life has changed for the better. One of my favorite dishes is rotisserie chicken and with the smells coming from this stall, I knew I had to order some. I ordered a 1/4 chicken with a side of fries, and currently costs about $14, which isn't too bad of a deal. The chicken immediately blew me away by how flavorful and juicy it was. Many places usually nail down either the flavor or the moisture but Fat Fowl blew both out of the park! The waffle fries were so crispy and seasoned. I finished the whole meal in record time . I ended up coming back the next day to order the same meal, this time trying the white meat of the chicken since they ran out of dark meat. The staff was super friendly and reassured me that the white meat tastes just as good or I can come back to return it, and spoiler alert, I ate the whole thing again . The stall has a few bar seats for you to sit in addition to the many seats provided by the food court. I went during lunch hours on two weekdays and it wasn't too difficult to find a seat but you may not have great luck if you are going with a larger group during rush hours.

Mac & cheese is so good that I ate that and shared the chicken(and I don't share chicken) fried black black rice, I expected something like diri djon djon tossed in a wok - this rice is PHENOMENAL, perfect balance of sweet and salt, lavender rotisserie chicken was great as well. My friend had the curry shrimp burger (I tasted) it is fantastic, I would also highly recommend it. Get the tamarind bbq sauce it's good on literally everything. Meeting the chef / owner was an outstanding way to really put a face to the flavor. You can feel his love for this cuisine in each dish we tried. Being from Florida and having many Haitian and Caribbean friends and family- I can speak to the fact that this is definitely "new age" Caribbean food with an elevated flavor profile. If you live in or are in Brooklyn give it a try.

It's pricey! My oxtail grilled cheese with plantain cost $28. With that being said run don't walk! The food is sooooooo tasty! Make sure your pockets are just as fat as the fowl tho.

Good. The staff was for sure overworked with all the orders in store and online coming thru. I felt bad for the woman at the pickup window but she was holding it down fr. I ordered takeaway online. The sandwich was good. The fries were good. But the rose lemonade which I ordered ahead of time mind you, ended up being sold out somehow.. for me the math of that ain't mathing but I took a sorrel drink to try and fill the void... and still there remains a gaping void btw. Personally I feel this oxtail grilled chz sando is an IG overhype. And I fell right into the trap. No shade, but like I've had much more flavorful oxtail. Now is it tasty? Yes. Did I finish it? Yes. But honestly it could have been any meat with crispy bread and melted cheese and I'd probably eat it. So... there's that lol. If I go back (which I probably will), I'd like to try the fish, the Mac and cheese and the chicken. And of course that ever elusive rose lemonade.

Food: 10/10 Customer service: 9/10 Long lines and about a 25 minute wait if you're here on a Friday evening / weekend. While the line went quickly to order, it still took a really long time to get food. The staff were super nice, but I felt so bad for the girl at the pickup counter/ window. They messed up my order several times (forgot my chicken, forgot my sweet potatoes, forgot my honey, gave me waffle fries for some reason), but the food was worth the wait. It's some of the best chicken I've ever had, and the lavender honey was absolutely delectable with the sweet potatoes and the waffle fries. The Mac and cheese was absolutely delicious too. Besides messing up my order a few times, I'd definitely come back again for that food!

When my friend said Oxtail Grilled Cheese! I said "Heck Ya", and I soooo happy I did. Nestled in the bottom floor of the mall is this taste of heaven. Staff was amazing and the setting is great for a quick bite. Limited seating so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you cause boy is it worth it! More oxtails in this sandwich than is a regular plate and delicious. Please tell them I sent you! I love it when Yummy meets Delicious

My family loves a well-roasted chicken, and Fat Fowl serves a well-roasted chicken. It's a wonderful coincidence for us, and it means this is our most-visited Dekalb Market Hall stand lately. (If you go today, you get the added bonus if smelling like you cooked it around a campfire, thanks to the Canadian wildfires.) It's $38 for a whole lavender-rotisserie chicken and three sides. The chicken is juicy, well-seasoned, and just all around excellent. Thankfully, the sides are well thought out and executed dishes in their own right. No afterthoughts here. We like the green beans, the mac and cheese, the sweet potatoes...and even the sides we haven't tried look great, so we'll roll through them soon. The waffle fries are also great, because waffle fries are always great. Please note that they upcharge $2 apiece for what they call "premium sides," which Christopher Wallace might call sheisty, but he wasn't concerned about inflation, so I'll give them a pass. The tamarind barbecue sauce is also phenomenal. It's delicious on the chicken, on the mac and cheese, on the sweet potatoes...I imagine it'd be great on anything, including these frozen veggie bites I wish my wife wouldn't buy. But we'll never know, because the tiny cup they give you (get extras if you can) will never make it past a Fat Fowl meal.

Fat fowl is located inside the Dekalb market all the way to the back! The air smells so good and the food is delicious! The service is quick you pay for it then wait for the magic to happen! You can sit near by there's open tables throughout the market. You're also able to see the food being prepared! Looking forward to returning!

I'll just say this: The cashier was sweet and suggested me to get the plantains instead of the rice. She gave a sample of the rice so I could decide. Although it was nice I chose the plantains and even got an extra side to go afterwards. But that Mac and cheese sent me straight to the nearest McDonald's bathroom. So If you wanna shit ya brains out get that otherwise stay clear!

The hype is real. We got the oxtail grilled cheese and the chicken and black fried rice. The grilled cheese was so flavorful, it's not a large portion for the price but it is delicious. I recommend that everyone coming for the grilled cheese to not forget about tribute chicken as it's their main attraction on the menu and the lavender infusion really compliments the chicken. The rice was so uniWe saw the chef and he was so gracious and humble. Highly recommend!

Fat Fowl is nestled into the Dekalb Market in BK. This place has the best vibe from the food to the customer service to the other patrons. Melinda, who was at the cashier this day was amazing. Very sweet and knowledgeable recommended some of the delicious drinks that they offer and guided us through the menu since it was our first time........we ended up getting the quarter chicken with the four sides, I recommend you get the mac & cheese, the black fried rice , the sweet potatoes and waffle fries. The rotisserie chicken was delicious...... to say it was juicy wasn't understatement. Highly recommend.
