Best Doughnuts in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"The first Atlanta outpost of this popular Nashville doughnut shop opened in Ponce City Market in 2018. The shop’s most famous treat is the 100-layer doughnut — a doughnut-croissant hybrid that takes nearly four days to create. These giant doughnuts, however, are crispy and light, coming in flavors like chocolate sea salt or vanilla cream. Five Daughters also offers paleo and yeast doughnuts as well as a buttery, crispy croissant pastry called “the Quinn.” Five Daughters includes a location in the breezeway at Westside Provisions District." - Lia Picard

The 11 Best Donut Shops in Atlanta

"Originally started by a Tennessee couple, who (you guessed it) has five daughters, this doughnut chain is famous for its 100-layer croissant-doughnut hybrids. With two Atlanta locations (a walk-up counter on the Westside and a stall in Ponce City Market), we’re partial to the bigger PCM one, so after lunch in the market, we can pick up a fresh strawberry lemon shortcake donut, which is basically just dessert." - juli horsford, demarco williams

Nashville Bakery Debuts in Atlanta With Massive 100-Layer Doughnut in June  - Eater Atlanta

It is located on the first floor of the market’s food hall near Honeysuckle Gelato and Batter Cookie Dough Counter. The bakery also offers a variety of cake and brioche-style doughnuts (including gluten free, vegan, and paleo options,) cookies, and pastries. All doughnuts and baked good will be baked daily at a kitchen facility off of Chamblee Tucker Road and delivered to the shop. Expect doughnuts like chocolate sea salt, vanilla cream, and maple cinnamon as well as a gluten free, paleo doughnut made with almond, coconut, and tapioca flour." - Beth McKibben

Google
I really enjoy Ponce City Market for a change of scenery when I need to get some work done, as well as for the chance to try something new. On a recent visit, I was looking for something that would be both tasty and helpful while I worked. I decided to go for the churro crunch donut and a mini cold brew. If I’m being honest, the food didn’t leave much of an impression. It was decent, but not something I’d rush back for. However, what really stood out was the staff—who were incredibly patient and kind. They made sure I had everything I needed while I worked, which made the experience much more enjoyable. It’s definitely a place I’d return to for the atmosphere and the friendly service, even if the food didn’t quite hit the mark.

This past Sunday, I treated myself to an afternoon delight at Five Daughters Bakery, located on the first level of Ponce City Market. Even with the crowds buzzing through the market, the staff kept things moving smoothly—I was in and out in no time! After a quick scan of the display, I settled on The Purist, Strawberry Glazed, and a Mini Shortcake. Each one was so good—soft, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweetness. The flavors were well-balanced, and you could tell they’re crafted with care. One of my favorite parts? The thoughtful touch of a Bible verse printed on the box—a small detail that left a big impression. If you’re ever craving a sweet treat in Atlanta, I definitely recommend stopping by Five Daughters. Your taste buds will thank you!

Google
An elevated bakery inside of Ponce City. We ordered the hundred layered donut which felt like a rebranded croissant donut crossover. It wasn’t bad, the flavor and flakiness was good. Just wasn’t very special or exciting. I’m sure a lot of labor goes into making it which is appreciated. Though it’s difficult to determine if the atmosphere and pricing of the baked goods is elevated just because it’s located in PCM.

Google
The cashier was so friendly. Had a dedicated tray for vegan donuts, the churro crunch was amazing. We additionally had the mini berry crisp, was also very good and flavorful. Pricing was the same for the donuts in spite of the huge size difference.

Google
The places is very hidden so you have to go in the market and go find the hidden alley corner and turn into the store. It is very small and cute. Does not have the flavors I want but the mini donut is good.

Google
I was told if there was one place to visit while in Atlanta, it should be here. I was not disappointed. I highly suggest getting the "King Kong" donut!

Google
I had the best experience at Five Daughters Bakery! The donuts are absolutely incredibly soft, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweet. The blueberry lemon was hands down my favorite; it was fresh, zesty, and totally addictive. On top of that, the customer service was fantastic. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, making the whole visit even better. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Google
These donuts in Ponce City Market are absolutely scrumptious! Even our Korean relatives (who have their own outstanding donut shops) loved these. They say their donuts have 100 layers, and I thought that they were so soft and bouncy. I love that they have lots of flavors as well. We tried the King Kong (maple bacon), the Blueberry Lemon, and the Grasshopper (mint and Oreos). They were all so delicious, and the King Kong and Blueberry Lemon were filled with sweet cream. If you’re looking for a sweet treat while wandering PCM, this is a great spot to visit!

Yelp
My favorite donuts in Atlanta!!! I come here like it's a religion, but I try to avoid it if I can help it. Vanilla - I love the vanilla cream, I think it's a great addition to the donut itself Maple syrup - similar to vanilla because had the vanilla cream center, but on the sweeter side. But complements well Purist - like a fancier version of a French cruller. Cannot go wrong with this. This is my absolute fave. Though I like cream too much to not get the others. Sea salt chocolate - a little too sweet for my tastes, even more than the maple for me. The chocolate center is nice but also really sweet. The monthly ones are so fun to try. One of my favorites is the churro, but some like the smores, pumpkin cheesecake, and lemon strawberry shortcake are good too!!

Yelp
Super glad to have a gluten and dairy free dessert option at Ponce City Market! The paleo "donuts" are kind of hit or miss but I will buy them every time just to have some sort of sweet! Highly recommend the chocolate sea salt!! Absolutely delicious!! Perfectly balanced savory and sweet taste with a yummy chocolate coating on top!! Like a chocolate chip cookie cake! The double chocolate and the apple caramel were underwhelming at best. Apple caramel tasted like apple sauce cake and double chocolate tastes like generic chocolate cake. If you're into that, you'll love em!! I will say, it's a bit of a stretch to call any of them "donuts," as they are simply circular cakes, closer to bundt cakes really. Good cake for the most part, but not even close to a donut or any of the normal products! The branding is super cute and the staff is super friendly!!

Yelp
When I came across this little spot, I was immediately drawn in by the vibes and amazing looking donuts in the display. By the time I got to the front of the short line, I had my eyes on nearly a dozen donuts. Just by looking at them, I didn't know some of them were cronuts until I brought the box back to my table of friends, one of whom said, "They do cronuts very well!" I became skeptical because I'm not a fan of cronuts.... THESE, however, totally blew me away! They were fluffy and flavors were well balanced. I'm completely addicted to them. I also love that they offer vegan and gluten-free options.
google avatar

Yelp
For Father's Day, I got "The Dad Doughnut." It was so good that they should change the name to "Everyone's Doughnut." Ferrero Rocher surrounded by a cronut with hazelnut sprinkles. You can't get any better than this! "They're your tastebuds. Satisfy them!" -Allan Delacruz

Yelp
If you're at Ponce City Market and you love pastries--you must stop by. Having had the original cronut in NYC more times than I'd like to admit, these carry a fine semblance to the ones up north. I haven't had a flavor here than I didn't like and I don't think that day will come.

Yelp
While wandering Ponce City Market after lunch, I came across Five Daughters Bakery. I wanted something sweet after my meal, so I ordered the seasonal Lemon Icebox "100 layers" doughnut, which basically was like a cronut. Taste-wise, I appreciated the creamy and tart lemon curd inside, but the layers were on the soggy side, as I was expecting a flakier bite-- after all, if it's marketed to be a cronut-adjacent, it needs to be flaky! All in all, it was a decent and sweet snack to round off my time in Ponce City Market!

Yelp
Saw this place at Ponce Street Market so decided to grab some donuts. It was already 5 pm so there were only a few flavors left. Overall, the donuts didn't feel very fresh as they were a bit dry. I was hoping for a fluffy and spongy donut with the layers. Given the price point, I was hoping for more. King Kong - loved saltiness from the bacon and the sweetness of the maple. Overall, it was very sweet. Lemon Icebox - the tastiness from the lemon balanced out the sweetness. This was my favorite flavor! Cinnamon Sugar Toast - it tasted more like a sugar donut than a cinnamon sugar toast. It needed more cinnamon.
google avatar

Alexandria N.

Yelp
A great place for a sweet treat! The Boston creme donut was delish -- they make it with a nice dark chocolate coating on top, and they don't skimp out on the cream inside. They're known for their Cronuts (croissant donuts) so make sure to try that out. I got the churro one, that's my favorite. It's the perfect cinnamon sugar dessert.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered Five Daughters Bakery for delivery. It. Was. Fantastic!!! They have very unique 100 layer donuts and it was fascinating to learn how they're made and even more amazing to eat them. One of my favorite things about FD is that they have mini versions of some of their regular donuts! My absolute favorite was the summer berry crisp, but every donut was delicious. They are extremely fresh, fluffy, and flavorful. We only ordered 5 mini donuts, but they were sweet enough to send us 6! The only donut we didn't love was the apple fritter. It was a little too thick for us. Overall, they are doing a fantastic job and I wish they were up here job the northeast!
google avatar

Adrienne S.

Yelp
So many flavors to choose from! All donuts look delicious!! Decided to try one of the seasonal flavors 'Apple Cider Glaze'. It was AMAZING!! I will definitely be back to try more flavors.
google avatar

Mary W.

Yelp
Yummy always!! Fresh and pleasing to the eyes. The taste is wonderful. The associate was very helpful with the explanations of the different flavors. Store was near and clean.
google avatar

Lili J.

Yelp
These donuts are really good. They have a great flavor variety and they switch some out every month. I have had a mini strawberry fields which a lot was really good and a full-size lemon blueberry which was great too but it got a little sweet at the end. It had lemon curd inside which was really yummy and probably the star for me which helped with balancing the very sweet blueberry icing. I think for those kinds of donuts I prefer the mini but a full-size purist wouldn't be too sweet. They have cronuts and yeast but the cronuts are what they are known for. The layers are nice but it doesn't make a huge difference to me. I also have to give the people working there a major shout-out. I had an online gift card which the company had just stopped taking. She really tried very hard to get it to work and then just gave me the one free donut and another gift card equal to the amount I had before. It definitely helped in a stressful situation.

Yelp
I was sooooo happy to hear that there was a Five Daughters Bakery here. I thought it was only in Nashville, which is where I first fell in love with their cronuts. I tried the vanilla cream cause the guy who ordered before me took the last white chocolate mocha. The vanilla cream was filled with light vanilla cream inside the flaky layers and topped with vanilla buttercream. Light, airy, and delicious. I had butter pecan in Nashville. On my second visit to Ponce City Market, I went back to try the white chocolate mocha. I loved the coffee flavor and the 3 chocolate-covered espresso beans on top. This one isn't filled. I can't tell which one I liked better. I don't think you can go wrong with any flavor you choose. If I lived here, I would gain so much weight cause I'd want one daily. I guess I could walk a few miles through Piedmont Park and the East Beltline to get here and make up for it. Lol. It's what I already did anyway... Please open one in Houston!!!

Yelp
Tucked in a back corner of Ponce Street Market is this gem of a bakery. We got a lemon box donut which has lemon curd inside and a vanilla cream which has (you guessed it) vanilla cream inside. The delicate layers and the filling are absolute perfection and I wished I had gotten 2 donuts instead of just the one. We were so eager to try them that I forgot to take pictures of them but definitely will the next time we go there, because there will be a next time. lol
google avatar

Brielle P.

Yelp
Omg! These are the best donuts I've ever had! We were in town for a long weekend and stopped at five daughters twice. The first time we got one regular sized donut and all six minis they had so we could have a taste test back in our hotel room. The donuts are so soft and fluffy and airy - they are not thick or cake like. My favorite was the raspberry iced and I also really liked the glazed too! Honestly they were all out of this world delicious. We went back again on the day we flew home and brought back another box to bring to home to Florida. They survived the trip and were just as good the day after. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Eddy G.

Yelp
If you happen to be passing through the Ponce City Market for some food, you should definitely follow the red neon sign that leads you to dessert, and more specifically the Five Daughters Bakery. They have a really nice selection of cream filled croissant donuts. The donuts have such a different texture and flavor than what you might be used to from traditional donuts. Of all the flavors they (usually) have on hand, the "King Kong" donut is my favorite. It's a maple glazed donut with bacon on top. But if that's not your speed, they have a lot of other options. Some gluten free ones too!
google avatar

Marni M.

Yelp
My classmates and I graciously had my professor bring their donuts to class as a sweet little treat. We were able to try a variety of flavors including tiramisu, GF maple bacon, vanilla, confetti, and so many more! They were all good (some a bit too sweet for my liking) and well decorated. Since I haven't had a lot of donuts as a cronut, I thought it was pretty good but could have used some more separation between the layers (maybe more butter?). Since I didn't go myself, I can't attest for the service or the cost but I would certainly go out of my way to try them again given most of them were cronut style.
google avatar

Hannah T.

Yelp
Best donuts in LIFE. Gotta try them, 100 layer donuts perfect consistency and tons of amazing flavor options all compete for the best in class!
google avatar

Nicole J.

Yelp
After working out at the forum, my friend bought me here to get a treat. I was happy to learn this was a black owned business, and I was proud to support it. There were so many delicious options to choose from. When I saw bacon, I immediately chose the King Kong cronut. My friend ordered the mini cinnamon cream cronut. Although they were both good, they were just too sweet for me. Glad I was able to try it and support though.
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
I was in Ponce Market and Heard a lot of good things about Five Daughters Bakery. I got three donuts: Mini Purist, Chocolate Sea Salt, and Cinnamon Cream Cheese. Overall the flavor was good but the two 100 layered missed the mark. The Chocolate Sea Salt could do without the filling in the middle. The Cinnamon Cream Cheese was too sweet and there was a lot of icing on the top. The Mini Purist was the favorite. I want to try the normal Purist next time! The service was good! There was once young man that was taking orders and getting donuts. He did a good job handling the customers and the line. If you like donuts I would check Five Daughters out!
google avatar

Brianna R.

Yelp
We got 4 doughnuts for an after lunch treat. 4 of us shared these doughnuts since we each wanted to try a few different flavors. We got a 100 layer Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Eclair, and Cinnamon Sugar Toast, and one Purist that was a yeasted doughnut. I tasted each one except for the Purist. All were delicious! My favorite was the Cinnamon Toast. It was covered with cinnamon sugar, without being too dry. My least favorite was the Strawberry Shortcake, since it was a bit lacking in strawberry flavor for me. They are a bit expensive but since we were celebrating, they were a lovely treat. The shop is tucked away in the dessert section at the center of Ponce City Market. Service was also great! These are a great way to celebrate a special occasion!
google avatar

Annette M.

Yelp
Cute location Tucked away in a corner Ponce City Market Great and well-informed staff personnel The options were plenty and very tasty Not greasy Slightly dense Options for mini or full size Interesting combinations of flavors! Great treat
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Went to Five Daughters at Ponce City Market, it's hidden on the little dessert section on the main floor. The donuts are ok, they were a little dry. The staff was sorta friendly, maybe it was just an off day (it was raining). Will definitely try them again sometime, I'm a big believer in second chances.
google avatar

Kayla L.

Yelp
Cute aesthetic and the donuts are pretty! For me, they lacked flavor. Conveniently located in Ponce city market however, do note it is tucked away in the back! Staff was friendly. They offer small sized donuts too if you want to try a few!
google avatar

Cynthia G.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite donuts! And how can you not love five daughters? It's croissants and it's donuts - the best of both worlds. My favorite (after sampling quite a few, but not all the donuts) is the purists. The most "basic" donut they offer. My only minor complain is that they always ran out later in the day - especially over the weekend. So go earlier if you want a good variety. Price is a bit expensive, but worth it.
google avatar

Tara C.

Yelp
This little hidden gem is (and I literally mean hidden in the back of Ponce City Market) heaven on earth. Just the right amount of choices to tempt you, but several flavors have minis so you can try more! The Purist: I tried the mini and this was decent but not one that would lure me back again, like some of the other options. Orange Quinnamon: this was fantastic and reminded me of a favorite dessert of mine, a queenette, very much like a croissant and a sweet roll. Yummy! Blueberry Lemon: my fav of the ones I tried...more like a cake with a tangy and sweet frosting. I was craving more after I finished it!
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
You'll never go wrong with Five Daughters. And always get the 100 layer donut - you won't regret it. I really like 'The Purist' 100 layer donut which is basically a glazed donut.
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this bakery enough!! There are options for everyone from vegan, paleo to regular flour and sugar filled donuts! The plain glazed purist 100 layer donut was perfectly sweet and deliciously flaky. The paleo peppermint patty donut was rich, chocolatey and moist. I was surprised at how delicious the paleo donut was. I cannot wait to try more flavors next time!

Yelp
Parking: about $2per hr, use the ParkMobile app to be able to monitor & add additional time Location: Ponce City Market (inside) Price: $2.75-$5.35 moderate Customer Service was GREAT the young man who was working greeted us, was friendly & answered all the questions that I was asking. MOST IMPORTANT TO ME was where are the donuts made & how often are they delivered? They are made in TN & delivered daily. Now I luv some good sweets but I definitely try to stay away from them, however, this place here these donuts look AMAZING. It is in a corner located inside of Ponce City Market, and I would've missed it if it wasn't for my Elite Yelp Sister and Food Vlogger Brandi you can find her on TikTok:thehungryfashionistaatl or IG:the_hungry_fashionista_atl I ordered the Mini Purist which reminded me of a French Cruller but not as sweet or crispy, it wasn't too sweet it was just right for me as I don't like my desserts to be extra sweet. The donut was flaky, moist, it had a nice texture & the icing was just right not too sweet. The Vanilla Creme surprised me when I cut it & the Butter Creme gushed out, I was not expecting that at all. The Creme on top & inside was flavorful & wasn't the sweet icing it was nice smooth, creamy & with the perfect amount of sweetness. The young man who was working there said they normally carry a few more mini options but it was around 830pmish when I arrived, so it was late. I'm giving them 4 because the selection was minimal due to the time I went. I will definitely be returning for some more treats
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
I am SO glad this place is nowhere near where I live in VA. This donut was so yummy and light, while also being dense (is it even possible?). I would come here every single day if I could.
google avatar

BitLeigh V.

Yelp
Love Five Daughters! They're know for their 100 layer doughnuts aka croissant doughnuts. We ordered their Purist and their Strawberry Lemon 100 layer doughnuts. Together they run you about $12 before tax and tip which is steep but worth it nonetheless for a sweet treat. Service was quick and efficient. They are located in Ponce not within noticeable view of the normal Ponce food court stretch, but tucked away behind some other eateries so be on the lookout for signs eye level and on the floor.
google avatar

Halcyone W.

Yelp
Looking for a sweet treat when you're headed back home from PCM? Be sure to stop by Five Daughters Bakery. 1 is plenty no need to over indulge but if you must this is the place to go. Love this place but it's kind of hidden in the back on the first level so make sure you explore all the corners to find this hidden sweet gem.
google avatar

Carrie S.

Yelp
I love Five Daughters. The 100 layer donuts are divine. They are rich and not too sweet (except the filled ones). The service is always good and the little shop lets you see all the flavors. I would recommend them to everyone who enjoys baked goods. I am a returning customer.
google avatar

Kyja W.

Yelp
Yummy! My boyfriend surprised me with these tonight, as he's done a few times in the past. He chose s'mores, yeast raised pumpkin spiced latte (filled), and yeast raised Boston cream (filled). Unfortunately, they were out of the latter two, so we got the King Kong and the blueberry lavender instead. These donuts are not like regular donuts--they are special croissant-style "hundred layer donuts." FLAVORS: The s'mores (monthly seasonal flavor) is described as: Infused with graham cracker buttercream, dipped in melted chocolate and topped with house-made marshmallows and crushed graham crackers (contains grass-fed beef gelatin) The King Kong (staple flavor) is described as: Rolled in sugar, infused with vanilla buttercream, topped with maple glaze and candied bacon pieces The blueberry lavender (monthly seasonal flavor) is described as: Infused with blueberry lavender jam, topped with blueberry lavender glaze and a fresh blueberry VERDICT: All three "cronuts" were flavorful and beautiful! Do my be fooled when trying to cut them with a knife. They seem hard and dry, but once you take a bite, you'll discover the opposite. They're very moist. My favorite was probably the blueberry lavender because I'm a huge lavender fan! I love how many fun flavors Five Daughters offers, and look forward to trying more.
google avatar

Shani H.

Yelp
Ordered an apple fritter and a strawberry frosted donut. The fritter was horrible. It was dry, had barely any apples and almost no glaze. It was $5 but didn't even taste sweet. However, the strawberry donut was delicious and was the exact opposite of the fritter. I would come back but I might try something different.
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Always a great spot to grab a midday treat. I really fell in love with vegan donuts here. Never had one before until I tried one here ave now I can't get enough.
google avatar

Sharmeen F.

Yelp
If you're looking to satisfy a sweet craving while at PCM, definitely stop by Five Daughters for a donut! Every donut I've ever tried has been so delicious and oftentimes really unique too. The donuts are not overly sweet as sometimes donuts are just sugar bombs. Five Daughters donuts are flavorful, flaky and a great treat to share or for yourself. My husband and I shared the gingerbread latte and sugar cookie donuts and both were great! The people working always have a smile on their face and give great recommendations too! It's sort of tucked in the back a little but definitely worth it!
google avatar

Brionna R.

Yelp
I saw this place on TikTok a few years ago and I knew I had to try it. I love the thousand layer doughnut it's flavorful it's flaky it's fresh. Anytime that I have family in town I take them to this bakery to enjoy the awesomeness.
google avatar

Khalilah A.

Yelp
Visited while in the area. Didn't know this location in Ponce was here but I'm thankful. I didn't indulge too bad. I opted for a mini Raspberry glaze $2.75 & a Vietnamese Coffee $5.10. The ladies were nice and patient and it was hella busy on a Saturday afternoon. I appreciated that. Delicious Fluffy Slight crisp, flaky even and very RICH flavors. I loved them! *bakers kiss*, if they're comfortable with that. Lol. I just wish they had more mini flavors. I wanted to try EVERYTHING. *sigh* ‍ I wish I had more
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
ORDERED - mini raspberry glaze | $2.75 SEATING AREA stall inside ponce city market so there are dining tables all around the building. there are no chairs to dine at this stall. OVERALL first of all, i'm someone who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, so the mini was the perfect serving size. the RASPBERRY GLAZE was sooo delicious. it was all sweet, not tart and also not overly sweet. we went at 6pm so there weren't many flavors left, but i will most definitely be trying other flavors the next time im there.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
I cannot leave Ponce City Market without one of these 100 layered fluffy doughnuts. It's like a tradition now. The strawberry glazed is by far my favorite!
google avatar

Schellie H.

Yelp
THE BEST DONUTS ON THE PLANET. We love love love these layered donuts. They are crispy yet dense and chewy and flavourful. They rotate out flavors. Try all of them!!
google avatar

Mina O.

Yelp
I love love donuts, but after tasting these I realize I am more of a traditional lover of donuts with amazing flavors that dance across my tongue. These donuts gave me more of a croissant vibe than traditional cake donuts, but they were all delicious and would pair well with tea or coffee. I saw these donuts pop up on my timeline hundreds of times so the marketing is working because I just had to sink my teeth in one after seeing so many advertisements. Overall delicious flavor and texture now that I know what to expect
google avatar

Erin L.

Yelp
This is the source of the absolute best donut I've ever had. The simple vanilla filled "cronut" is amazing. Please please open a location in St. Louis!
google avatar

Tisha S.

Yelp
These donuts were so good Omg! My fave was the churro donut. Perfectly sweet with great texture and a satisfying crackly churro finish. I would definitely recommend and plan on going back the next time I'm in Atlanta
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Croissant donuts that are light, airy, and easy to eat. The main other croissant donut I've had is Parlor donuts, and these can compete! I didn't get a filled one, so I can't compare toe to toe. But these are very light, where parlor is very dense. I enjoyed these and would visit again if I saw them somewhere (as I am not from GA)!

Yelp
We only tried one cronut -- the Maple Glaze -- five stars! It was so good; the texture was soft and fluffy. It was also filled with a cream of some kind. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Amazing donut shop inside the Ponce City Market. Their vanilla crème donut is an amazing choice I'd definitely go back here for. Delicious airy and light vanilla cream is what I'm all about. So happy to have tried them.
