The Best Dishes Eater Dallas Ate in June | Eater Dallas

"The ragu bianco is presented as the defining dish: a tomato-free sauce that lets celery, carrots, fennel, spices, and herbs develop without acid suppression, coating gnocchi and finished with pecorino and a sprinkle of Aleppo pepper for a pleasant kick. The result is a deeply satisfying, nuanced pasta that stands out in the Metroplex." - Courtney E. Smith

All the Restaurant Openings in Dallas, June 2025 | Eater Dallas

"Opened by the owners of Rye and inspired by Spain and Portugal, this restaurant highlights vivid, Instagram-ready dishes like a scallop crudo dressed with spirulina for a blue hue and a cashew-based Faux Gras with preserved lemons, brandy, and lacto-fermented blackberry jam presented in a hinge‑topped jar. The menu supports multi-course meals with soups and salads (a Caesar topped with sweet bacon), pastas such as ragu bianco, and hearty entrees: all protein dishes — from chicken thighs with roasted vegetables and mussels with chorizo to ocean trout with farro and local greens and a wagyu ribeye finished with a smoked sugar rub and beurre rouge — are cooked over an open-fire grill." - Courtney E. Dallas, Texas’s Best New Cocktail Bars | Eater Dallas

"This isn’t just a bar; rather, it’s a restaurant that has 18 dedicated bar seats and an outdoor patio facing a man-made river (and Hilton hotel) where sipping on the drink of the summer, the Porto Tonico — a simple white port from Portugal with tonic water — reigns. It’s the perfect complement to Flamant’s menu of Portuguese and Spanish-inspired dishes, all cooked over an open-flame grill. The team here was awarded the initial Texas Michelin nod for Outstanding Cocktail Program at their Dallas restaurant Rye, and they brought some of that magic to Flamant in Plano. Try the Black Sangria, a dangerously good mix of Flamant brandy, black currant, pomegranate, balsamic vinegar, and Lambrusco. Also outstanding is the Rhu-Barbra Streisand (yes, they reused the name from Apothecary, but it’s a different drink), a take on a Pisco Sour with pisco, lime, Disaronno, rhubarb, violets, and egg white. Those who are feeling brave can order the Octopus’ Garden, made with cream sherry, Bacardi rum, and squid ink mojito that can be ordered with or without a charred octopus tentacle." - Courtney E. Where to Get All-You-Can-Eat Brunch in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"A newly opened Plano spot offering a weekend all-you-can-eat option priced at $40 per person and $20 for children under 13, but presented via table service rather than a buffet to emulate a European midday meal. The menu focuses on small plates like fried spinach and artichoke toast, frittatas, skillet pancakes with smoked honey butter, and cannoli French toast made with smoked sourdough; the restaurant is smaller than other buffet operators, so the concept hinges on attracting enough diners who see value in the $40 price point." - Courtney E. Flamant, a Spanish and Portuguese Restaurant, Opens in Plano, Texas | Eater Dallas

"Opened June 10 in Plano's Restaurants at Granite Park, this Spain- and Portugal-inspired restaurant showcases open-fire cooking and a playful, unexpected small-plates approach alongside larger entrées. Highlights include a highly Instagrammable scallop crudo served in a spirulina-tinted dressing, a Faux Gras made from cashews, preserved lemons and brandy served in a hinge-topped jar with lacto-fermented blackberry jam on wood-fired bread, and a muhammara spread reflecting the chef's Lebanese cooking background. The menu offers tinned fish, a caviar service, and a charcuterie board focused on Spanish, Italian and French meats, plus a burger and chicken sandwich created for nearby office lunches. Large plates—cooked over an open-fire grill—range from a tomato-free ragu bianco to chicken thighs with roasted vegetables, mussels and chorizo, ocean trout with farro and local greens, and a wagyu ribeye with a smoked sugar rub and beurre rouge. The cocktail program leans Portuguese with a recommended Porto Tonico (white port and tonic) and a Black Sangria built with black currant, pomegranate, balsamic, Lambrusco and a very limited private brandy distilled with Texas grapes and blended with cognac and armagnac. The restaurant is also offering THC-infused canned drinks from a Dallas supplier while legal, and a $40-per-person endless-brunch designed for sharing that includes items like croquette scramble, croissant Benedict, cannoli French toast and patatas bravas with avocado." - Courtney E. Went for a birthday dinner and will not be going back for many reasons. 1) Lack of flavor in food 2) Service seemed rush 3) They were going to charge a cake cutting fee for $5 a person For being opened by the Rye and Apothecary team…I’m highly disappointed as those two places are very well known with great service and over the top dishes. We spent a total of $215 or so with tax and gratuity for 4 appetizers, two entrees and 2 cocktails. I was really hoping that all of the dishes we chose would be packed of flavors and profiles but it sure wasn’t for majority of them. We got: Flamant ‘76 Cocktail ($14) B4 Cocktal ($13) Scallop Crudo ($24) Beef Tartare ($19) Socca Street Bread ($8) Octopus ($19) Mussels ($21) Wood Fired Wagyu Ribeye comes with one side and we opted for fries and upgraded to truffle fries ($41) The only dishes that we liked were the beef tartare and the octopus. Unsure how you mess up mussels and a ribeye. Mussels were made with a Portuguese white wine and chorizo but really the dish had no flavor, no spices and tasted completely bland. The most disappointing dish was the steak. $41 for a steak and came out at room temperature and also with no flavor profile. We make way better steaks at home and can go somewhere else for a cheaper price point and still be 10x better. As for the service, we felt like we were rushed and asked if we were done with dishes. Clearly there’s still food and I’m still eating?? I get large parties can be difficult but the way you show service is how it presents your restaurant as a whole. We definitely gave them their most business for the day. If you’re not okay with large parties then set a process for it. When food and service are both below for me then I typically will not return and not recommend to people.

The space is gorgeous — super chic, but still comfortable. The cocktails were amazing and the food was delicious. It felt like something you’d find in Dallas, but right here in Plano. Perfect spot for date night or night out with friends. Definitely coming back.

Our time at Flamant was one for the books! The food was delicious, the drinks were spectacular, and the service (server Amy, hostess Ariana, and owner Tanner) surpassed all expectations. Definitely worth every penny.

We stopped by randomly for some drinks and an appetizer on a girl’s night out, and found out they were still in soft opening. Impeccable service and awesome staff that accommodated a couple strange requests from our group (they made us a yummy off-menu shot with fresh muddled strawberries). Don’t sleep on the vegan foie gras! It was the perfect balance of acidic, sweet, and savory. The espresso martinis were exceptional and begging for a photo opp. The GM stopped by to chat with us and give us some background on the restaurant and he really made us feel so welcome. I will absolutely be back to get a full meal soon. I saw some people getting the pastas, and they looked fresh and delicious!

Anything created by this team is guaranteed! We’ve been here three times since they’ve opened and loved it each time! Came in as a couple and also with friends. Thank you for creating unique and distinctive concepts that result in unforgettable experiences! Amy and Steven were great servers! The burger was a favorite, all the pastas, croquettes, wagyu ribeye! 24 carrots is my favorite cocktail so far, but don’t miss out on Octopus’ Garden and their espresso martinis! Both desserts are delicious, our favorite the chocolate cake! We’ll keep coming back!

Google
Flamant was amazing! Our server was great and helped with drink and food recommendations. We loved everything we ordered. Drinks were 10/10 and the food was so good. Also the prices were really reasonable. Such a pretty and chic atmosphere too. We definitely plan on going back!

Yelp
Came back to Flamant this weekend to check out their dinner menu this time. The restaurant was busy this time around, the atmosphere and ambience was cozy and lively - great vibes for our date night! We ordered quite a few dishes in order to try out a healthy sampling of their menu offerings. Each dish and drink we ordered came out really quickly and efficiently. Here's what we ordered: Appetizers: -Beef tartare 10/10 Soft, creamy, and seasoned well. -Greens & Artichoke dip 8/10 Unique in having fried artichoke fritters as "chips" for the dip. Dip itself was cheesy, good amount of artichoke flavor. -Whipped Croquettes 9/10 Lovely fried mashed potato croquettes with the most delicious and interesting dipping sauce ("dirty martini sauce"). Highlight was the sauce. Refreshing and savory, perfect and unique flavor combo with the croquettes. -Wood Fired Bread 10/10 Husband loved this! Something so simple but done so well. Bread was grilled/slightly charred but still soft. The butter that it was served with was unique and delicious. We were told it had onion and paprika mixed in amongst some other spices which gave the butter its slightly smoky flavor. Entrees: -Grilled Caesar 10/10 This was a delicious take on a Caesar salad. Shaved egg on top and candied bacon really added a smoky and umami flavor to the salad. Smoked butter croutons were small but plentiful and added good crunch. Husband enjoyed this a lot! -Mussels 7/10 The broth was delicious and smoky with bits of chorizo and you can taste a hint of the Portuguese white wine. Mussels themselves were decent. I had a few that wouldn't open up but otherwise the dish itself was good. Used some of the beef tartare leftover toast points to dip in the broth. Would be better if the dish came with its own bread for dipping. -Wood Fired Wagyu Ribeye + mushrooms 10/10 Keep in mind this does not look like your typical rib eye steak from steakhouses. The steak is thinner than what you'd expect a ribeye to look like but was incredibly tender and the butter sauce it came with (beurre rouge) was delicate and creamy and was a good compliment. Steak was well seasoned so the creaminess of the sauce was nice. The mushrooms were meaty and very smoky. The smokiness was a bit much for me but Husband loved it! Service was great, very attentive, quick, and friendly. Cocktails were unique and generous. I ordered the menorca martini which is probably not for everyone since it has an anchovy skewered in the glass but I loved it. I love a good dirty martini and this one was balanced nicely. Husband ordered the Jamon Rye and it came with its own smoke show and had a slight hint of savoriness jamon washed rye. I also ended the night with the 24 carrots cocktail - their take on an aperol spritz. I love aperol and it always reminds me of when we were in Spain. I would have liked the drink to have had more of the carrot juice flavor since that's what drew my interest in ordering it but I didn't really taste much of the carrot. Overall, our second try at Flamant was a great experience all around. They have rectified their seasoning issue that I encountered at brunch when they first opened. Everything we tried at dinner was balanced and had great and unique flavors. This is what I expected from the group that owns Rye & Apothecary!

Yelp
I was excited to try this place after I found out it's the same restaurant group as Rye, so a few friends and I came for brunch on a Saturday. They're located at the Boardwalk, but they only have an entrance on the boardwalk side, which can make it a bit difficult to find. They are walk-in only for parties under 9 people, and I was surprised to see that there were only 1-2 other tables dining when we arrived around 11:30 am. For brunch, they offer an all-you-can-eat menu for $40 per person, as well as $20 bottomless mimosas. Our group basically ordered one of each item on the menu so we could try out everything. The portions are pretty small, however, so we did end up ordering some dishes multiple times once we decided on the few that we really enjoyed. The dishes that we enjoyed the most were the muhammara toast, croissant benedict, skillet pancake, farro salad, the wood fired wagyu burger, and the grilled chicken sandwich. There were a couple of dishes, including the patatas bravas avocados, frittata, and the shakshuka, that were overly salted and made it difficult to eat. Overall, I feel that there is some room for improvement when it comes to making sure the food is seasoned appropriately for all dishes, especially since I had high expectations of this place. Their cocktails do sound unique and interesting, though, so I would probably come back to try those out.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time. We love the boardwalk restaurants and this one fits in very well. The atmosphere was very classy and servers/bar tenders were wonderful. For cocktails We had the flamant 76, I love you Madeira (which is an espresso martini), an old fashioned, and a mojito and they were all delicious. The effort and creativity the bar tenders put into the drinks was incredible. For food we split the smoked salmon dip and the beef tartare which were both delicious. We will absolutely be back!

Yelp
A casual laid-back restaurant that serves incredible food. Everything we had was fabulous. Truffle fries, octopus (one of the best in town, with a really good smoky flavor and absolutely tender) & cannoli with the most unique dip. The menu is very well taught & dishes were executed on point. Pastas here are good, one of the best gnocchi . Highly recommend!!! Restaurant is small, no reservations.

Yelp
Flamant is a new addition to the boardwalk at Granite park. It occupies a spot that has hosted many restaurants in the past, but I think this one is here to stay. Founded by the team who brought us Rye and Apothecary, the menu is refined with several dishes from Spain, France and Mediterranean there's something for everyone here to indulge in. No resys here for parties below 7 so walk ins only but we were seated right away at 530pm on a Friday. Service was very friendly but they just opened so staff seemed like they were still getting their act together (no biggie!). Food came out real fast though. Everything we tried was delicious but the standout items were the Steak Tartare, Muhammara dip, Wagyu burger, Mussels and the Cacio Pepe pasta. Only dish we didn't enjoy was the croquettes which was perfectly cooked, but boring because it was just whipped potatoes inside. Drinks are very inventive as you can imagine from this hospitality group ! They also have a happy hour with some food options and drinks from 3-6pm Monday to Friday so it's a good way to checkout some dishes to see if you dig it. We certainly enjoyed our night here and will be back!

Yelp
Our first time my wife and I. From the time we were greeting at entrance by a Mr Bolles, to staff at bar, to the service and food quality it was fantastic. You could tell the quality was there from the vegan food gas, upscale hamburger, truffle fries, etc. It bordered on gourmet for sure. We shall return and their original restaurant downtown Bob and Liza 9167189171

Yelp
Came to this place for the first tile Megan, Robin,Paul, Mirna and Scott were so welcoming will be coming back just for them!! They invited us back to brunch and trust we will be back

Yelp
As fans of the original Rye in McKinney, we were excited to visit this convenient new north-of-Dallas location and new concept for this group. And pleased to report, it's a winner! The spirit of original Rye is evident in the small-plates menu, inventive cocktails, and dishes such as the yummy grilled Caesar salad. We went for brunch and found the unique all-you-can-eat ($40, 90 minutes) concept very enjoyable. The two of us sampled 8 small plates and all were outstanding- including grilled bread with smoked salmon dip, croissant Benedict with frizzled salami, and delicious Wagyu burgers. I had a Flamant Frose cocktail which was fun and great-tasting. The service is friendly and attentive and the ambiance glam yet comfortable. We had a wonderful experience and plan to return soon.
