Love this place! The pasta we ordered was excellent especially the texture of the noodles. The noodles goes well with the truffle sauce too. We also ordered brisket and fish. Both are very smoky, tender and delicious. We were surprised by the dessert because it was made from the sweet potato and tasted like moon cake. It’s a very novel and creative flavor. Overall, the environment was very cozy and foods are amazing. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

This place is by far one of the best restaurants in Chicago. The staffs are so kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food here is amazing. Not many places offer great food and great service. The chef here used to work at a Michelin star restaurant (or something like that-he is VERY talented). Place is kept very clean. If you're looking for a place to eat near here, please give this place a chance and I promise you'll go back again. Their burgers are great and I don't have any pictures because I always eat it before I can remember to take pictures.

Wow what a wonderful experience! I was hooked from the delicious smell the second I walked in the door. We were seated far away from the other dining tables and everything felt very safe, covid-cautious, and sanitary. The portions were great and the chef brings out the dishes to the table and gives an explanation - such an amazing addition to our experience. We ordered the cheese plate, the pasta al la carte, and the brisket with frites. Highly recommend and will be back!

Service was amazing and their Negronis are delicious. The smoked duck was a tad too salty for our liking, but everything else we ordered on the pre fixe menu was delish. The portions were generous as well. We will be going back again, but maybe skipping the duck.

I came here for a date night and it was super tasty! It definitely is not a very traditional barbecue in that everything has BBQ sauce, etc. But it was definitely delicious. Everything is very fresh and almost everything is made in house! I was a huge fan of the brisket! The prices are a bit high, but like I said, it's all made in house.

A nice and cozy place. The bread is so fresh. The tartine uuuf! Chef kiss! The mix of the ingredients makes every bite an experience. So recommended.

All around excellent meal. Especially loved the bread and spreads! Patio has a great vibe. Instantly a fav neighborhood spot.

On March 27th, it was the second time I went to Flat & Point. Service was not to my expectation. The female host made comments about us that really left a bad taste in my mouth. My reservation was for 2 people at 5pm. I told the host that our friend Summer made reservation for 2 too. Is it possible for the 4 of us to sit together? I don't know why but she looked annoyed already. Then she showed us that our table and summer's table are next to each other. I asked if it's possible to get a bigger table because this one looks tight. She said "it's not tight" and left. When she returned, I asked if I can move to the center tables. She said "I can't move any tables". When I went to the bathroom, my boyfriend asked again to see if we could get a bigger table. She said "any human won't think the table is too small." What does that mean? I am not a normal human being? I don't understand the snobbish attitude. We asked politely but her response was sarcastic. The first time I went to flat & point it was on March 5, just a few weeks ago. I successfully moved to a larger table in the center. I could understand that it was fully booked last Sunday and it would inconvenient her to redo the seating. It's ok if she told us politely. Please don't imply that we are not normal or not even human. Thanks to her attitude, I will take my abnormal self somewhere else to eat.

We came here for a nice outdoor patio dinner. You order inside and then they take it out to you when it's ready. The guy that took our order was very friendly and welcoming. He had such a frat natural personality, F&P is lucky to have someone like that on their team. We ordered wedge fries: A perfectly seasoned confit kennebecs with a side of giardiniera aioli. These were very tasty and tasted even better once you dipped them in their giardiniera aioli. Ribs, Like Wings: you get six crispy baby back ribs with a tasty white bbq sauce and topped with scallions. These ribs were crispy but still tender. They tasted so delicious on their own, but combined with the white bbq sauce, it gave it an extra flavor. Kind of wished they could give you more of that bbq sauce, but you shouldn't over do it, since the star of the show is the meat. Not the sauce. Flat & Point Burger: This burger was also tasty. It came with garlic aioli, a thick cut sliced tomato, lettuce and American cheese. The party was thick and cooked & seasoned perfectly. Definitely a must try. I will definitely be returning, especially to try their brisket which is only served on the weekends. Hopefully they expand their menu, so we can try a few other things.

Many beautiful and accurate reviews here... And a few crabby little mugwumps who don't understand how restaurants work. I went here tonight on a whim with a friend. We both live nearby but had never visited Flat and Point for no clear reason. Tonight was the night! We try to wide range of menu items including the wing-ish ribs, a salad, and the brisket. We also had a lovely bottle of wine with dinner. The food was outstanding. The brisket was a treat, and anyone who said it's overrated is a silly goose. Those ribs in the salad were also spectacular. We also had a pork main that was fine but not as outstanding as the others. The wine selection is really interesting and unique and very fairly priced. I was impressed by the service and ambiance, And how clear it is that everything is fresh and homemade. The price points are almost too good to believe. I actually think they're quite fair But they definitely don't include the Logan square markup that you'll get a lot of other similar places in the area. Thinking of eating at Park and Field? Billy Sunday? Pizza lobo? Parsons?! The food here is far superior and in several cases better priced. I'll definitely be back, and with more friends next time. It turns out that this restaurant has much more to offer than what meets the eye!!!

I was very excited to try Flat and Point as it overall seems to have good reviews and is a Michelin Bib gourmad restaurant. My boyfriend and I each ordered the prixe fix menu, which is 55 dollars each. I thought the service here was really good, but there was more to be desired with the food. The starters were really delicious. I especially liked the pasta. However, my biggest issue was with the mains. The chicken was definitely on the drier side, maybe a bit over cooked? It was pretty average in flavor. The fries were really nice and crunchy and had had some kind of Cajun seasoning flavor, but I thought the brisket was a bit bland. I didn't know what to expect with the dessert box, but it makes sense that it is pastries and cookies. Dessert was fine, nothing spectacular but definitely not bad. It would have been nice if it was some kind of kind of dessert that was meant to be eaten there, but I honestly can't complain because that's how it is advertised! Overall, I was happy with the starters and would recommend if you're going here, skip the prixe fix as the mains aren't worth it.

I got a piece of their garlic focaccia from the lincoln square farmers market today... yesterday on a thursday... and it taste soooo good! so glad I got it. Think I might even make a habit if grabbing some every week. i wonder if they deliver on ubereats try their garlic focaccia bread, best focaccia bread i've ever had. also the only I've ever had but that garlic flavor is divine

This restaurant is known for its coal fire oven. We ordered the brisket and it was very good! The bread appetizer was yummy too. My little one ordered butter noodles which tasted fresh. The space is nice and casual. Caution: if you are a visual eater like me and are interested in checking out Flat & Point because of their food pics on Yelp... their menu changes. I could not order their delicious looking sandwiches because it wasn't on their menu anymore.

Found this place randomly and my god this is the best pork shoulder and salmon I've ever had. Definitely coming back!

What a cozy evening this was! They have a small menu, which is super easy to order from. The price point is great as well! We both enjoyed the burgers with fries, but first we enjoyed (sharing) the Cesar Wedge Salad! What a wonderful experience! Our front counter service person, Kevin, was an an absolute delight as well! Support local! Give these guys a try! You will be pleasantly surprised! It's cozy, good comfort food!

Trendy spot in Logan Square that definitely feels like Logan Square. We went for the prix fixe. Nice wine list, as we tried a great orange wine. One of the standout courses for me was the corn lasagna. So creamy and yellow and sweet! The one thing I'm docking a star for is the portion of the brisket steak felt quite small, with one slim slice, but I can't say I left hungry with the other courses. Dessert comes in a box to go with the prix fixe, but they didn't mind us enjoying our sweets on the spot. Gracious service, trendy atmosphere, clever food. Would go back.

We did the "Alpine 5 Course Prix-Fixe" dinner for my birthday because I got a Tock giftcard, and the restaurant uses Tock for booking plus you can pay ahead for the fixed-price meal. Couldn't have made a better choice! Upon walking in you'll notice trendy cozy decor in low lighting with lots of books on shelves, plants alive and dried, botanical prints, mounted antlers, and both booth and table seating. You'll smell the smoked meats from the wood fire in the back as everything is smoked to order. It is a bit loud at night, between chatter of customers plus the bass of funk and hip-hop playing in the background--one song I recognized was "Where I'm From" by Digable Planets. The concept is "Alpine smokehouse" and that rang true--everything we had was like western/central European-inspired cuisine with an American barbecue twist, while at the same time somewhat upscale. Not something I could have dreamed up myself, but it definitely works! We were seated at a booth close to the back. Service was friendly and helpful, our waiter pointed us towards a fabulous red wine we paired with the brisket. There is a 20% service fee which I strongly believe all restaurants should implement, I consider 20% to be the bare minimum one should tip anyway. Here, the staff get healthcare due to this which is awesome and should also be universal! Other Chicago restaurants, heads up! We started out with classic Negronis which tasted lovely as expected and not too bitter. The Alpine Salad (ate it too fast to get a pic) was a funky take on a caprese with squash, ricotta, apple, and fennel plus spices. The gnocchi was pretty straightforward with a savory cream sauce, mushrooms, and crunchy fried sage (sounds like a simple detail but it made the whole dish!). The lasagna featured the same fresh local squash as the salad but with savory cheeses and a satisfying crunch on the top layer. The entrée brisket was up to me and my husband's high Texas-bred barbecue standards - tender and tasty. I do think the fries were a little too salty but they tasted right alongside the horseradish crème fraîche and brisket in one big bite. For dessert, some off-menu pastries in a box to take home: two chocolate cookies and a two tiny vanilla bundt cakes. They also let us take the rest of our wine bottle as well. Portions were on the smaller side but we left feeling extremely full--all combined it is a ton of food! Overall a wonderful experience with fabulous eats! I will definitely be back.

Flat & point is exactly what we were looking for after a day trip in Chicago. Homey decorations. Warm vibe. Awesome service. We started from bread&butter. The fresh flavor of bread and salted butter go amazing together - then we knew the bread was handmade in store. No wonder. We ordered two special dishes - Swiss meatball and Brian's pasta. Both impressive dishes. Great sauces on both and we were especially impressed by pasta noodles. The texture was spectacular - house made of course. Highly recommend! Then we moved on to trout and brisket. Trout is so tender and the hollandaise sauce is such a great compliment to the fish meat. The brisket is just as good as we expected. Spectacular food. Lovely decorations. And great service. I will come back for sure.

I went here on a Friday night with some friends and we got a lot of food. The charcuterie board was fantastic (although they need to give you at least double the bread), the ribs were tasty and unique, and the pastas tasted extremely fresh. Very friendly staff that helped us pick out a bottle of wine that we really enjoyed. The outdoor patio is really nice in the summer and feels a little secluded as it's not on Fullerton itself, which is nice. This part is a little odd and I may come off as a horrible person but here it goes: I really don't like that at the end of the meal your server asks you to add 20% to your check so that the employees can get health insurance. I 100% think waitstaff should be fairly compensated and have benefits and I would love to move away from tipping culture in general (happy for menu prices to go up). But between the 11% for taxes + 20% for tipping + 20% for health insurance... it feels like it's a bit much. I know they say that this 20% for health insurance is totally optional.... but it feels more like you're pressured and saying no isn't really that much of an option.

I am excited to see so many more restaurants and other businesses opening in this part of Logan Square. I hope that this restaurant does well. I made a reservation for 2 people on a Friday night and arrived after 8pm. The restaurant was pretty busy, but got busier towards the end of our dinner. This isn't your stereotypical Chicago bbq restaurant. The focus at this restaurant seems to be on quality ingredients and innovative menu items. What we tried: Confit Fried Potatoes: Fried potatoes layered with truffles and seasoning. They are served with a homemade parmesan cream sauce. The potatoes had the right amount of crispiness and are worth trying. Burger (For Fall): I enjoyed the slight sweetness from the apple butter and the mix of toppings in general. The meat was seasoned well and was a good size. The burger does not come with fries or any sides, so you might want to order something with this if you are pretty hungry. Brisket: The brisket is amazing! It was so tender. The brisket came with a sauce that paired well with it. I only got to try a couple of pieces of the brisket, but I would likely order this next time. Meringue Apple Pie: I've never had an apple pie like this before. The meringue was not too heavy and the apples tasted extremely fresh.

A very welcoming warm place for company of friends or family. Exceptional brisket, sausage, squash, in house made bread, and chocolate cookie . Great portions to share and try the veriety of delicious food including the charcuterie plate and schnitzel. The place offers very lively atmosphere inside and a great service. It feels very cosy and warm inside.

We were super excited to check this place out and were greeted to super nice staff. We were quickly sat with a view of the kitchen. The smell of the smoker and the ambiance was great! Our waiter was super positive and was very descriptive with all of our food. Overall he brought food out very quickly and service and place was great. Now the reason for the lower rating. The food. I originally ordered the ravioli and it was really fishy taste (which I know it's scallops) but just something seemed off. The worst part was the dish was barely lukewarm. If I order any pasta I expect for it to come hot or warm at least otherwise the dough becomes a little tough and not a very enjoyable dish. The cod dish we got was so heavily salted with so much salt we could barely eat it. I myself normally salt heavily but this was way too much. We shared this with the chef because if the potato was not on the plate - it would not have been edible. The cook on the fish itself was perfect. The dish also came out again lukewarm and no idea why. Maybe they were too busy? We also go the spatzle and it was more of a soup that a pasta dish - not really edible either sadly. We imagined pasta with some sauce on top but this was sauce with pasta bits. The cheeseboard was good. Nothing fancy here. The tri-color carrots were super tasty and a highlight of the meal. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things but then again why is it on the menu if it's wrong? Really disappointed - really wanted to like it! Also pricing wise it's a bit on the high side for what we got but maybe that's just me.

Let me preface this 5 star review by saying I'm kind of a particular eater but...I loved everything I ate at Flat & Point...that essentially never happens. Also, coming from a Kansas City raised, Austin residing, BBQ eating fiend, if you go in with a standard bbq mindset you've not got the full picture because this spot is so far beyond that in the best ways so here we go. The vibe is moody, vintage, cool but still warm and welcoming. The kitchen is open so you can see all the magic going down and you can smell the smoked meats as you come through the front door. Rad vintage glasses and silverware along with real plants give the place and more comfortable feel than your typical fine dining spot. The night we popped in they had great background music and candles on every table. What you're really here for...the food review. My husband and I started with the charcuterie board as well as the bread and butter - both of which were freaking phenomenal. The house made bread and butter were melt-in-your-mouth good. I'm still dreaming about the array of pickled things from the charcuterie board which we totally cleared between the two of us, also a first. I could say a million good things about the detail and quality of every dish but what I want to call out the most is the smoked sausage. I know what you're thinking..."the sausage...really?" Yes! The smoked sausage is paired with this apricot, cabbage, balsamic situation that blew my mind. The flavor pairings and the textures are everything I never knew I wanted in my life. We split the chefs pasta special and it was all the truffles and homemade noodles a girl could dream of. I saw that some reviews complained about ordering at the counter and it doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. I can't stress enough that you should trust the chef, trust the servers, eat what they suggest and you'll walk away full and happy. Good food is not cheap, cheap food is not good. I can't wait to go again.

So we were the FIRST customer to enjoy the curbside menu, and had a fantastic family dinner back at home. Dollar for pound, you'll have a hard time finding a better value for that amount of flavor. We enjoyed Flat & Point's food and friendly staff so much, we came back for lunch the next day. The charcuterie sandwich and salad are delicious. And we popped open a bottle of the Fantôme Triple Gourmet, which you won't find elsewhere. Flat & Point is a wonderfully decorated and cozy rare find, and the food is unbeatable whether you dine in or carry-out. 6 st

We were fans of the concept at Flat & Point, so I was excited to check out Dorothy's Bistro when we saw it reopened. It did not disappoint! They had counter service when we went, so we placed orders and awaited the food. We went with the chicken liver mousse, alpine salad, and the lasagna. Flavors were amazing and we wished we would have ordered a lasagna for each instead of sharing. We loved the creamy ricotta in the salad with the fresh vegetables. We finished with a decadent cookie and dessert rum cake and wow, both so good! Cozy environment. We'll be back soon.

When we moved to the area, this space had a sign that said Punta Cana was moving there. We were excited until nothing ever happened. When we heard Flat & Point was opening in the space, manfriend was excited. Me, a pescatarian was lukewarm figuring it wouldn't open up many more food options for me. Thankfully I was wrong. It isn't clear on the website (something that should be clarified IMO), but several of the dishes can be made vegetarian or vegan, which is awesome for folks like me. The place is simple on the inside; dark grey walls, wood tables and booths. I get the vibe they're going for, but it could exude a little more personality. Manfriend talked to them about the planned variety of the menu and they said the meats should remain constant, but the prep will change. They have an eclectic selection of glasses and silverware at the front and I like the reusable aspect. He ordered the brisket and I ordered the vegetarian version of the F&P cheeseburger. The brisket came with beets prepared two ways and he was very happy with his meal. My burger patty was a smashed potato, which is something I never considered for a burger replacement. F&P style includes a dijonnaise slaw on the burger. I really enjoyed my burger. We got sodas as they won't be serving liquor until later this week. The only thing we didn't love about the place is the price point; 2 sodas, brisket & beets and a burger (no sides) ran us $55 at a place where it's not full table service (you order at the counter and the food is run out to you). It seemed rather steep and probably would keep us from hitting this place up regularly like we do places like Wyler Road, L'Patron, etc

Flat and Point has a lot of potential, the Wagyu brisket was awesome! However everything else on the menu was lacking flavor and excitement. The price point is quite high for the area and the concept. Ordering at the counter for two people at $100 is quite high. The items below are what we selected. - brandade: caramelized onions, sourdough, pickled celery, pea shoots - snake river wagyu brisket & beets - Brisket Cheese burger - FP style - truffle confit potatoes - beer & wine (5oz pour?)

Interesting that they've changed their name to Dorothy's Bistro. INCONSISTENT food! grougeres great; spatzle just mehwas served tepid and flavor didn't pop; wood grilled pork choptook 30-40 mins to come out (with only 2 other tables with diners ) and some parts were dry while other pieces tender; at least it had a good sauce. We ordered bread at the end to use with the leftover pork chop sauce only to be surprised that we were charged $12 for 2 slices of sourdough that were cut in half to make 4 skinny slices. Definitely not worth that price! It came with a truffle butter or there was a choice of cherry bomb goat cheese which we would have preferred, but it was not offered by the waiter. Definitely felt ripped off in the end! Btw don't fall for waiter's suggestion of ordering 2 courses per customer... not necessary. We had an early dinner before a concert but when we left at 7pm, the restaurant was still pretty empty... that's a sign especially on a Friday night. We were initially excited to try the restaurant as it's been our hit list for a while. Unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations so we will not return.

We came to Flat & Point last night with a couple friends and had a great time. It was a beautiful day and were able to sit on the patio which was a nice experience. We ordered a good amount, but definitely didn't have any leftovers. We started with the Smorgasboard which was really tasty. Everything was made in house which was unique. It's not your typical charcuterie, the meats and cheeses are different, but really good. My only issue was that it was a little small, but very high quality. After that we got the Asparagus and the Ravioli. It turns out the head chef's background is in Italian food, so we knew we had to get it. The sauce and the pasta dough was perfect, and I liked the bacon on top of the ravioli. The asparagus was good too. For mains, we got the brisket frites and the porchetta. Both of these were very good, I highly recommend both. The porchetta had a nice chimmichuri type sauce on type with some beans, and the brisket frites had a really tasty horseradish cream served with it. The service was also excellent. Really fun crew and atmosphere.

Read about this place the other day & were in the area so decided to stop in and check it out. It smells smoky and delicious when you walk in. We started off with the ribs which were really delicious. Next time I would get the black pepper aioli on the side because I thought there was a little too much of it. But really good--we could have eaten another order. Next up - the burger. I ordered mine without the egg. Mine was super salty. I don't know if it was a seasoning error or what, but my first three bites were so salty that it ruined the burger for me. I understand that when a chef conceives a plate they are pulling together all the components to make a great bite. That being said, I should be able to eat a burger--even just the meat by itself and have it be enjoyable. My husband really enjoyed his burger. He LOVES burgers and thought this was a solid choice. So, this again makes me think perhaps mine was a one-off situation where the seasoning was a little heavy handed. The service was a little lax. We were the only ones in the restaurant for lunch and our rib plate sat on the table even after our burgers arrived. Since the ribs were so good and my husband enjoyed his burger, we'll likely be back for dinner to try the brisket.

This place is fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about it. Both the food and the service are always excellent. The people at Flat & Point are incredibly nice and they clearly care about both the customers as well as the quality of food that they serve. My wife and I have been here countless times both outside on their great patio or indoors. Everything they make is homemade and delicious. Pro tip: if you even somewhat enjoy charcuterie, you need to have their Smorgasbord which contains rotating meats and cheeses. Everything on it is absolutely fantastic. Also, they have an excellent wine list which, unlike most restaurants in Chicago, is actually reasonably priced. Finally, don't sleep on the bagel sandwiches on the weekends. They are probably the best kept secret in the city. The bagels are homemade and the sandwiches are excellent. If you do not go here, you are really missing out on one of the best and most unique dining experiences in the city.

Covid-19 Isolation Review- Flat & Point has been on my list for a long time. We finally made it there today and I'm so glad we did. I know I'm supposed to love their smoked meats (and I did) but let me tell you. They are undercover awesome bakers (or maybe not so under cover for others). We tried the bean and cheese tamales(so good and a great veggie option in the land of smoked meats). The brisket tamales were also delicious. The kit comes with directions to cook which worked. We were a bit adventurous and steamed them for 5 minutes and then crisped them in a comal (anything with a cast iron base will work) and they were amazing. The Mac and cheese (such a cool flavor profile- Smokey and velvety smooth). The steak fries with aioli- so good. We put them in the broiler for 5 mins (middle rack) and they were perfect! We also got the cinnamon bagels, their honey cream cheese, and the cinnamon swirls with orange glaze. Holy hell!!! Their bagels are so fluffy and soft. I mean, amazing! I don't like thick bagels because they can be chewy but these are probably the best bagels I've ever had. Fluffy, cinnamon, delicious! The ordering process was easy (online via their website) and pick up was easy. I just want to thank them for allowing me to add to my order once I got home and realized I forgot to purchase some Mac and cheese. I can't wait to visit again, once we're out of isolation, and eat in their patio.

A friend of ours got us a gift certificate here for what would have been our 5/15/20 wedding (COVID19 changed that!). We don't have a car to get to the location and are trying to stay home and follow healthcare guidance during the lockdown. So we called the restaurant and explained our situation and that we hoped to order something for our would-be wedding weekend. They went above and beyond! They came up with a options that were gluten free (for me), they suggested a wine, they factored in the cost of them getting the food to us - and made it all fit within our gift card value. On top of that, they put in a little "congrats" card to recognize what we've termed our "un-wedding" that was super sweet. We will definitely be going back in person once we're on the other side of this pandemic! Thank you for making our un-wedding weekend special!

I went here for dinner, the staff was very kind, friendly and accommodating. I had the pork crepinette. It was delicious. I also got the charcuterie plate combo to go- again delicious. "Chef" was very friendly and helpful. Loved the open part of the kitchen (at the bar) where you can watch the charcuterie plates being made. Would definitely recommend trying this spot!

Tonight, my gorgeous girlfriend and I went here. We decided to go on a date, and because we live close by, we chose to have our dinner date here because we had heard so many good things about it. We tried a variety of dishes, including pork crepinette, wing-ish ribs, corn lasagna, brisket, and salad for dessert. We also had a bottle of wine because we both thought it was a great idea .The food was fantastic, it has taste that you can't explain because it seems unique and incomparable to me. And as I said, it all taste great for me and also to my girlfriend, she said she loved all that we ordered. And I'm so thankful, cause she is so choosy when it comes to food, and I think she really enjoyed it. The wine list is both fascinating and unique too. And for the price, it's pretty expensive but I think it's still reasonable cause the service and ambiance amazed me, as well as the food they serve, it's so obvious that everything is fresh and homemade and that's an additional point.

So, you all know about the piano virtuosos. Just to make sure your brain is calibrated properly. Brian brings with him talent from another life, or many. His ability to bring un-affronted comfort food with a subtle and unassuming and perfectly melded flavor profiles is in a category by itself. Let's just get down to the perfection- If you love meat, he's got you! It's not just the smoke, it's how he uses the smoke. Sometimes forward, where it should be and sometimes unexpectedly where you'd least expect it. Brisket....Porchetta, frites with grandma's farm raised horseradish, adorable. Salads, it's trickery to make a salad that leaves you feeling like you've just eaten a full on sustainable meal, and want more. Master of dressings, and unexpected garnishes, that miraculously work....when Brian does it. Desserts - The finish it should always be the best! A french little pastry that is tall, sculpted, on the verge of being carmelized, crisp exterior and a pound cake interior, who does this?! One random April Prix Fixe....it's always ingenius, approachable and heart warmingly delicious. Oh, and the pasta...a little ravioli or 4, or the spaetzle with currywurst, all of course home-made. If you have not been here, it's time to go pay him a visit. If you have, you need to go back....soon. He will be discovered, and revered as he should. Enjoy yourself!

My wife took me here for my birthday, and I was excited. I appreciate that Chef Brian makes everything in house. If it's on your table, he and his team prepared it: charcuterie, bread, sauces, sausages, pastas. All made in house. I know this because he came to our table, and spoke with us. I appreciate someone who goes out of their way to welcome guests, tell them about their vision, and makes that vision from scratch. I had effectively a brisket dip sandwich; a riff on a French Dip. It came on house made bread which was super crunch on the crust and held up well to the brisket and horseradish sauce. Accompanying this sandwich was au jus, and it sent the sandwich to another level. Prior to eating it, though, I sampled a bit of brisket in its pure form. It was great. My wife had the croque madame. Again, Chef Brian made his own ham. It came on the same bread and equally held up really well to the scratch made, gruyere cheese fondue and the perfectly cooked egg. For dessert, we ordered a smoked, salted caramel, sweet potato pie. We. Took. That. OUT! It was super tasty. If the desire is to be able to go here and order a 1/2 pound of brisket, that isn't this place. The guy's Michelin Star-rated. That isn't to say he couldn't open a straight BBQ joint. That is to say that I loved his creativity and mash up.

I really love this off beat stop in Logan from chef brian. The specials and menu are always on par. I love that the chefs special has a vegan option (although my vegan brother could not resist the bread). I have been a few times and I will be back. The brisket is over rated, get everything else! Let me explain the one star: I had a strange conversation with the GM Taylor. She is nice but when I inquired about a giftcard she claimed that she was ignorant and did not know how to create one. While I appreciate the humility I have a hard time believing that the GM does not know how to create a gift card. And that was all that she had to say. Surely someone at Flat & Point knows how to create a gift card. Also, if you're the GM and you don't know how to create a gift card that is a big red flag. Anyway, I will be back when they are in full service but I can't do carryout dealing with someone who is self proclaimed ignorant.

Went here for Valentines Day with my husband and 10 month old and ohmygosh. Everything was spectacular. We ordered from the a la cart menu in lieu of the V-Day set menu. I had a glass of cava right off the bat, and hubs got a Manhattan. Both were great. The bread and butter came out first and it is a must! I ordered another piece later because I couldn't stop thinking about it. Perfection. Next came the lasagna which on paper sounded kind of healthy and boring with a sauce made from squash and there was kale involved, but we took our servers suggestion and ordered it and it was delicious. I had the suggested white wine pairing which was German(?) with a crazy name and it was so good. This might be a good time to tell you to just listen to your server. We took his recommendations on wine and what to order and it couldn't have been better. Finished the meal off with the delicious Cotes du Rhône with the even more delicious Brisket like a steak (the blue cheese version) and the Brussels stroganoff and everything melted in our mouths. No joke, the brisket is like butter. On top of the food and wine being fire, everyone who worked there was wonderful. And made the experience of having a rare date night with a baby easy and fun. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Found Flat & Point to be fabulous. This is elevated BBQ, something I've never really had. What we ordered: - Truffle gnocchi - Pickles - Burnt end mac and cheese - Meatball - Brisket Everything was fantastic. The meatball was stand out good - surrounded by an amazing garlic bread crust. Truffle gnocchi was also memorable, as a chef hand shaved a truffle in front of us. Well worth the $30 to see a fancy truffle! The brisket was served with grilled broccoli. Extremely good brisket, served sans sauce. There are rarely places around here that get the smoke right, and I felt like it was spot on here. And the texture of the brisket was to die for - some fat on the outside and pull apart tender and lean on the inside. Overall, this is a place I will be back to. I enjoyed everything I ate, and I'm willing to pay a premium to eat delicious food these days.

We picked up a lovely picnic basket to go along with a day planned to pick sunflowers. The picnic basket was a nice experience. The basket included 2 bottles of water, plates, utensils, a bottle of chilled red wine which we enjoyed. We had a salad, a few condiments, some delicious bread, meat and cheese. For Desserts we had big chocolate cookie. I only wished they would have numbered all the items along with a detailed list so that we would have known exactly what we were eating in the moment. Overall, it was a great experience, which is something I think, we all yearn for during this cray time in life.

It is so wonderful to have an elevated dining experience in this little corner of Logan. It's a cozy, warm restaurant with damn good meat. It's obvious the chef/owners care about the ingredients they source because the food is prepared with care, and eating here feels like a true culinary experience -- but with accessible, Logan Square prices. Try the brisket burger, you will die happy. The porchetta is melt in your mouth too. Apps range from $3-$8, portions are not only huge but beautifully plated, and it smells SO GOOD inside. If you want cafeteria BBQ, this isn't for you. If you want thoughtful, high-quality smoked meat prepared and served by people who love food, you will love it here. I've been twice and can't wait to go again. Pro Tip - watch their Instagram for amazing specials ($16 for a burger, shot, beer and chicharonnes?!) and awesome happy hour specials.

Everything was absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend the Ribs Like Wings and the brisket. Definitely a place we will be coming back to and bringing more people to try. If you want some amazing barbecue, try this spot.

First visit here and almost the first (2nd) customer to have the alpine dinner. It was a great spread of delicious food. Intense flavors throughout, but far from overpowering - really delicious well balanced meal - fish, smoked meats, pickled vegetables and affordable regional wine. And the rösti was comparable to any I had when I lived in Switzerland. Check it out you won't be disappointed.

Came here for a tasty Valentine's dinner with my fiancé! While it was pretty tasty, it didn't stand so strongly out to me, and the meats in particular weren't as memorable as I might have expected! They had a $60 course menu and here's what it included: - Sage daiquiri - smooth like a smoothie without ice, and great, strong ginger and sage flavor - Trout roe and cream cheese puffs - these were a cute play on lox and cream cheese! The puffs were a bit dry, but overall it was tasty. - Chicken liver pâté - the pâté was wonderful! There was no bitterness or astringency that often appears in liver, and it was as creamy and smooth as peanut butter. I just wish they gave more bread to enjoy it with! - Roasted delicata squash - this was pretty good. Didn't taste the cheese much, and the pulled pork was a little dry, but the roast on the squash was good. - Offal lasagna - Very creamy and smooth, again without the funkiness you may be worried about with offal. I loved this dish. They forgot to give this to us at first, but we were able to catch that error. - Pork ribs - a great, subtle apple butter glazed rib. The meat fell nicely off the bone, though it was a bit dry. - Brisket ($10 extra) - we were sort of disappointed by this one. It was pretty dry and not so flavorful. We did get one piece with some nice fat incorporated into it, but the others were pretty lean. The blue cheese also overpowered it. - Cookies and milk - tasty, though a pretty standard chocolate cookie (though nice moisture) and pretty normal milk. Overall, we had a fun time but not sure if it stood out to us enough for a repeat visit. We were hoping to feel more wowed by the meats.

Excellent intimate BBQ and burger place spot, I got 3 sandwiches and they were all excellent. Charcuterie Brisket burger (f&p style) Cheese brisket burger. What a beautiful looking space and awesome drink / beer list. I hope a lot of people go to this place and it remains in the hood. It's always great to see restaurants like this pop up. I need to go back and get a dessert and some drinks. Great date night place.

For the life of me I can't understand the point of this restaurant. Is it BBQ, is it midwestern cuisine with BBQ elements, is it fast casual american, is it hipster bullcrap? It's all the above! And none of it really amounts to anything. The food wasn't bad. The problem here is how it's presented in order to justify the prices. Meats are served as composed dishes with garnishes and random veggies. I feel this is done solely to justify the prices. And it's not very convenient with how the dishes play out. What if the two slices of brisket isn't enough for me, am I to order a whole nother dish? Or I hate beets or the polenta is too rich for me? The menu is very limited and doesn't really inspire you when ordering. They could go for more customization. Of which the brisket was pretty decent. Probably my favorite of Chicago but that's not saying much because brisket in Chicago sucks. It seems like the menu expanded upon when I went. But the restaurant just comes off very pretentious to me, and who wants pretentious BBQ?

Absolutely amazing meal. Brian will treat you to a true dining experience. His dedication and enthusiasm to food can be found in every bite. Go with a group of people so you can share and get a bite of each item.

Such a great addition to the neighborhood!!! Fantastic, fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Unpretentious and delicious. Menu changes frequently- and it's all improving with each visit as they learn what works. I look forward to many more phenomenal meals here.

Wayyyyyyy overpriced. Like, every menu item is 50% more than it should be. Went here with my gf - I got the Wagyu brisket and she got the pork and polenta, and the Mac and cheese as an app. Mac and cheese was delicious, no complaints here. The Wagyu brisket was wonderfully tender and flavorful, but somehow $28 for a slab of brisket and a small side of potatoes just doesn't seem sufficient. For that much you'd expect a dish that really came together rather than a lone, sauceless hunk of meat sitting awkwardly next to a small side. The BBQ sauce (only available upon request, odd for a self-proclaimed BBQ restaurant) was extremely molasses heavy and not balanced at all. The pork and polenta was definitely the better of the two, and while suffering from a similar duality - sweet candied pork flavor or savory, cheesy polenta with little else going on - it was still far and away more interesting than the brisket. Kind of an odd entry into the Logan restaurant market - overpriced, hipster BBQ. I wouldn't consider myself cheap - I've been to plenty of places that can command these prices, but this just ain't it. Tab ended up at $110 for an app, two entrees, two beers and a dessert, and this is for food-counter style ordering (yet of course their payment system still asks for 18%). It's like they aren't sure exactly what they want to be, ended up somewhere between Lilly's Q and looking for a Michelin star, and it shows. If you want BBQ, there are plenty of better options - Smoque to name one fairly close. If you want local hipster farm-to-table, your dollars will go a LOT further at Lula's, and your tongue will thank you. I guess if you want to drop a lot of cash on a fairly weird experience with no table service...this is your spot!

We came here for opening night. You walk up to the counter, order, then pick a table and they bring you your food. There is a station where you grab all your utensils, small plates, cups, and water. Even though it was opening night, I felt like they'd been open for a while. There were a steady stream of people coming in the whole time we were there, and the food still came out super fast! We ordered the brisket and beets, sausage and beans, and the whole beer snacks plate. The brisket rivaled my Jewish grandmother! It was tender and melt in your mouth. However, the absolute best thing we ate was the chicken liver mousse! We actually ordered seconds! I love chicken livers and this was some of the best I've ever had!! Their menu was small and a little pricey, but overall VERY good!

This is a place where the chef clearly knows and loves his craft. Wife and I went and had the Prix-Fixe menu. The Caprese salad light and refreshing and the pickled squash brought the dish to a whole different level. The dumplings in tarragon pesto is another winner. Really a lot of flavor packed into a dish. The pea ravioli was wonderful and a masterclass in how to balance ingredients without making a dish too busy. The porchetta BLT was awesome. Chef clearly knows how to work the smoker. The only gripe was that the schnitzel was a little overcooked. This place is really a hidden gem run by a very talented chef. It's a little off the beaten path but I love that about it. Go, support, and enjoy. You won't be disappointed and you will defiantly leave with a full belly!

Visited Flat & Point for a birthday dinner a week ago, and very much enjoyed our visit. We had a group of 6 + baby, and the staff was tremendously helpful and friendly in making selections on food, drinks, and even what the kiddo would enjoy (kids Mac & Cheese, which was actually better than the Truffle Mac & Cheese). For the native Texans or BBQ aficionados out there, this joint isn't intending to replicate Pecan Lodge, Louis Mueller's, or Oklahoma Joe's. It's a chef's spin on BBQ done in a way that is delicious and unique. The brisket and sausage are smoked and flavorful, albeit priced higher than you may anticipate for a BBQ joint. The special of the evening was Portuguese Surf & Turf (sausage + octopus), which was incredibly strange and BBQ-y at the same time. Kudos to the chef and staff for a great wrinkle in setting up a BBQ restaurant in Chicago. Will definitely be back! ** Do not skip dessert, and specifically ask for the Strawberry Shortcake - that shortcake is buttery and the perfect end to a Smokey meaty meal

My husband and I went here on a date night and did the prix fixe menu. The beet salad is lights out! Honestly, my new favorite salad! We also loved the pasta dish! The brisket was so delicious and my BBQ judge husband even said it was perfection! We even scored some bagels for the morning. If you are in search of a good bagel -- this is it! Can't wait to come back for the pastrami! The service was excellent! We sat outside and they made sure our fire was roaring the whole time. We loved the food and people here -- we will definitely be back!
