Fleur - Review - Park Slope - New York - The Infatuation

"From the people behind the Hupo, one of our favorite Sichuan restaurants, Fleur is a Shanghainese spot in Park Slope with a robust dim sum menu. They have things like crab roe soup dumplings and braised pork knuckles, but also some Sichuan dishes like shredded beef with green peppers. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

We visited Le Fleur Rouge last weekend, a newly opened spot in the neighborhood of Park Slope that blends French and Chinese cuisine in the most elegant way. The chef, with a background in 3-star Michelin kitchens, brings serious skill to every dish—everything we tried was absolutely delicious Our top favorite was the Tea Smoked Duck—perfectly tender and juicy with a beautifully crisp skin. We also loved the Tai Chi Fried Rice, which features two distinct flavors of fried rice on one plate, both rich and satisfying. If you’re looking for a romantic night out, check them out on Wednesday or Thursday evenings when they host live jazz—a perfect backdrop for date night.

It’s not a cheap restaurant but the food is really special. We went for brunch on a Saturday and the restaurant was basically empty. I had the shrimp French toast, the cucumber salad, the Yin Yang rice and the duck hash. Forgive me for referring to the dish names vaguely. The French toast was the real stand out. Having something sweet and fishy and warm and crunchy was so novel. Somehow it all worked. The staff were very kind and professional, and the ambiance was interesting. I hope to visit for one of the jazz nights!

Le Fleur Rouge is a stunning gem in Brooklyn that masterfully blends French and Chinese cuisine with a distinct Shanghainese influence. From the moment you walk in, the beautiful interior sets the tone with a modern inviting elegance. Cocktails here are not just drinks. They are experiences with clean and balanced perfection both in taste and presentation. Pair em up with their friendly and knowledgeable staffs for great recommendations! Start with the fresh oysters that pushes beyond boundaries. Indulge in shrimp toast crowned with caviar. Let that seared Hokkaido scallops melt in your mouth. That crispy spicy chicken brings the heat in all the right ways minus the bones. Don’t miss the Tai-Chi fried rice which is a harmonious blend of two distinct flavors. For anyone curious about modern Chinese cuisine, Le Fleur Rouge is a must visit!

A Disappointing Transformation Le Fleur Rouge was once a gem in the neighborhood—an easy favorite I recommended to everyone for its flavorful, Shanghai-inspired cuisine and authentic touch. Sadly, after a complete concept overhaul, I find myself needing to unrecommend it just as strongly. The restaurant has pivoted to a French-inspired menu aiming for Michelin-level sophistication, but unfortunately, it misses the mark by a wide margin. The result is a pretentious dining experience with unjustifiably high prices and underwhelming food. Shareables: The so-called “shareables” are misleadingly named—these portions are smaller than standard appetizers. Definitely not suited for sharing unless you’re only passing around a bite. Dishes We Tried: Dan Dan Noodles (2/10): This was a major letdown—store-bought spaghetti tossed in an overly sweet peanut sauce. A far cry from the rich, spicy depth you’d expect from authentic dan dan noodles. Crispy Chinese Eggplant: Another miss. The portion was t-i-n-y drowned in sauce, and again, excessively sweet. Lacked complexity and balance. Mains: Butter Poached Branzino (3/10): The fish was unpleasantly fishy, and the accompanying sauce did nothing to enhance the dish. Crispy Spicy Chicken: This was the one somewhat redeeming plate, but it’s comparable to what you’d get at a standard Chinese restaurant—only here, you're paying triple the price. Overall Impression: Le Fleur Rouge’s ambitious shift toward haute cuisine feels misguided. The menu lacks focus, and the execution simply doesn’t live up to the elevated concept or the steep prices. If you're seeking a Michelin-star dining experience, I’d suggest choosing an establishment that actually holds that distinction.

came for restaurant week and we’re so glad we did! the place is beautiful and all the staff was very attentive & kind. the food was great, but there were a couple small things we didn’t love. 100% recommend for a nice dinner, especially for the restaurant week deal!

Very pleased with our choice. My husband is from Hong Kong and picky with all Asian cuisine. I found this place on Yelp and it did not disappoint. I personally loved the pork buns and the soup dumplings were perfect. My daughter ate her fair share of chicken potstickers. Highly recommend.

Here’s a polished, clearer version of your review that keeps your authentic voice and detailed observations while making it easier to follow: ⸻ Le Fleur Rouge When my wife and I first sat down, we almost walked out—the menu was full of fried items and heavy cream sauces, which isn’t usually our thing. But we decided to stay (and put on a few extra calories), and we were quite surprised. The food was delicious. We had the crispy Chinese eggplant, pork soup dumplings, and a spicy crispy chicken dish—all terrific. (Stay away from the sesame noodles, though: they tasted like limp pasta tossed with some cheese. We mentioned it to the manager, and they might rework that recipe.) Prices aren’t cheap—$15 for three soup dumplings, for example, where most places serve six—but the sauces are outstanding, and it’s worth trying. The atmosphere is beautifully designed, and the music adds a great vibe. You can choose between a booth or table. If you come for happy hour, the drinks are very reasonably priced. It’s an unusual take on dim sum, with some creative dishes. I would’ve liked a straightforward noodle dish, but most had a lobster bisque base, which isn’t my preference (I don’t care for cream sauces). Service was first class—attentive and friendly. They even offered us free ice cream at the end. I wouldn’t give it five stars overall, but for what it is, it’s absolutely worth a stop if you’re in the mood for some delicious fried bites, rich sauces, and excellent service. By the way, it turns out the same owner runs Shan, a first-class restaurant on Smith Street

If you're expecting cheap Chinese and large portions this is not your spot. If you want well made, beautifully presented delicious food, very attentive service, in a lovely space, this is your spot. There were five of us and we were celebrating the Lunar New Year so we order of substantial amount of food. FAVES: The noodles in scallion oil, the radish salad, sweet and sour spare ribs, shrimp dumplings, potstickers, spring rolls, DongPo Pork, snow pea shoots, Shanghai fried udon, and Shanghai diced chicken. MISSES: The duck appetizer was a little bit tough. The whole fried fish was drowning in sauce. The purple rice was indistinguishable from the white rice although it was cool looking. We would definitely go back.

Yelp
Last week, I had the pleasure of dining at Fleur, a fantastic Shanghainese restaurant that truly impressed me. The moment I walked in, I was struck by the modern and classy decor, which created an inviting atmosphere perfect for a delightful meal. The menu featured a wonderful selection of authentic dishes that showcased the rich flavors of Shanghainese cuisine. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the taste exceeded my expectations. The service was attentive and friendly, making our experience even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a stylish spot to enjoy delicious Chinese food, I highly recommend Fleur. I can't wait to go back and try more of their offerings!

Yelp
I ate here with a group of friends recently and we all agreed it was a delightful meal. The decor is lovely, indicating that Fleur has ambitions well beyond your basic Chinese take-out joint. Cocktails were well made (they just got their full liquor license, which is nice) and service was helpful and gracious, but the food was definitely the star of the show. Flavors are distinct, nothing's hiding in gloppy sauce, and you can tell that everything is made fresh from high quality ingredients. Scallion pancakes were probably the best I've ever had, thin, flaky, not greasy at all. Pan-fried pork buns and shrimp dumplings were simply delicious. I tasted two entries, the pork belly and the Shanghai diced chicken, and both were flavorful and perfectly cooked. Check this place out if you haven't already! Be prepared to spend more than at your typical takeout place, dine in, and enjoy an excellent meal.

Yelp
After walking by Fleur's stunning entrance when it first opened a few weeks ago, I knew I had to try it. Park Slope (and honestly anywhere in NYC that's not Chinatown, Sunset Park, or Flushing) is seriously lacking in authentic Asian food, but I'm thrilled to say that Fleur changes everything. My highly anticipated visit far exceeded all expectations. The interior is exquisite - classy and elegant yet cozy and charming. The servers, one after another, were incredibly lovely - warm, pleasant, and gracious. And the food was not only authentic and delicious, but also clearly crafted with care. My mom and I ordered tapas-style: Malantou salad, Four Joy Gluten (aka seitan) salad, Noodles with Scallion Oil, and Shanghai wonton soup, and each dish was exceptional. If I had to nitpick, I'd say the malantou salad could have used a bit more flavor, but honestly, it was all wonderful. Our favorite was the Noodles with Scallion Oil - simple yet scrumptious One of the servers explained that their dumplings, buns, and wontons are handmade every morning, and the difference is notable in freshness, texture, and depth of flavor. All to say that I am SO glad this place opened, and finally offers Park Slope its well-deserved all-star Asian restaurant. This place will certainly be a huge hit, so be sure to try it before the lines get too long!

Yelp
2nd visit today. Happy to report that the food remains wonderful, we ordered a lot of dishes and none disappointed. Never had this level of Shanghainese food outside China. Cocktails were good too, just took a little while to arrive but worth the wait. Pretty good business for a Monday. They also turned up the heat, didn't feel cold this time .

Yelp
The decor is pretty cool and the service was fast and attentive. All of the dumplings were outstanding, especially the pork buns. Each came with slightly different dipping sauce. The scallion pancakes were very thin and crispy. The noodles were just ok, not a lot of flavor. Excited to try more dishes! The place is brand new and right now only serving appetizers and dim sum.

Yelp
Perfect in every way. Amazing vibe-- transported as soon as you walk in-- Great service, super friendly, helpful staff, and fantastic food. Everything we had was excellent. The soup dumplings, fried udon noodles, pork belly, and potstickers were exceptionally good. Will be back for sure. Welcome to Brooklyn Fleur! Glad you're here--

Yelp
Very nice room and setting, especially compared with the more standard look in neighborhood Chinese restaurants. Service was also very good and attentive. The restaurant is making an effort to make the food a bit different and more upscale than the usual neighborhood place. It succeeded with the udon noodle and beef dish that we tried. Well-prepared, tasty and better than typical lo mein. We also tried the scallion pancakes which sadly were far too oily/greasy. Cod entree was presented very nicely and cooked perfectly; not dry or overcooked with a tasty soy-based sauce. I don't recommend the purple rice, for me it had an odd flavor and little of the texture one expects from rice.

Yelp
We been wanting to try this place but very hard without a reservation in advance. We went early before the crowd n it was fun n interesting things on the menu.We had a few appetizers like smoked cod( very good) some radish pancake which was my favorite and dim sum n pork ribs. Everything was very good n very small portions. My husband got ox tail which he said was very tough. Desert was a delicious coconut panna cotta. Drinks were decent, kind of weak. Anyway glad we went but with some many great restaurants in Park Slope I don't think I'd go back. Expensive for what you got, nothing was to die for. Apps were more like tapas.

Yelp
Had many entrees delivered for Christmas. A spectacular meal! Will try the restaurant in person soon, looks lovely.

Yelp
Came for dinner and this is definitely one of our new neighborhood favorites! Ordered a variety of dumplings, noodle and soup, and it was all excellent. We also got delicious cocktails. The service, decor, and atmosphere were also superb. Can't wait to come back!

Cris G.

Yelp
Just gave it another shot. We ordered the oxtail that you didn't have before and the pork belly and scallion noodles. I ate the carrots out of my oxtail. The meat was NOT tender and I rather not gnaw on a massive bone on a restaurant. Pork belly was literally SWIMMING in a 1/2 inch of liquid fat. Noodles zero flavor. We didn't touch our food other than the noodles. And your servers didn't really care that we didn't touch or. Only asked if we wanted to take it home. Also, heat would be great. We were freezing. Obviously your servers were too since some were wearing scarves.

Molly T.

Yelp
The place was freezing - no heat and the food was between gross and bland. Too bad the menu seemed interesting.

Yelp

Yelp
We ordered a soup dumpling from the takeout window. They were very welcoming when we came inside to wait for it and gave us all water and didn't mind that we ordered just one order. Very nice people in here and the soup dumpling was absolutely delicious. Thank you!

Yelp
Food, service, ambience - all amazing. Their food is terrific, and they are a special addition to a neighborhood that has an abundance of decent places but not enough standouts. The staff is great, and service is fantastic despite having only recently opened. They are welcoming and very accommodating (even when we mistakenly broke a glass earlier this evening). Looking forward to the next time!

Keisha P.
