Note: Special is here: https://fogodechao.com/thefogo44/ Unsure if they offer it still. On another note, the Market Table & Feijoada Bar is a fantastic deal for the area for lunch specifically being only $20 and is a whole lot better than any of the lackluster breakfast and lunch places around here such as Junior's or otherwise.
Anyway, if you're looking to indulge in a churrascaria experience, this is probably your best bet. I would say the meat quality here at Fogo is a bit better than their competing spot Platforma with in particular the meat being less salty here. This review in particular is for the special known as the Fogo 44 though in New York City and a few other places, you might as well call it the Fogo $49 as it's $5 more. It comes with a good amount of the meats outside of the beef ribs, ribeye, NY strip, filet mignon, lamb chops, porterhouse, indulgent cuts, and seasonal cuts and is well worth it. The meats are of course served continuous throughout the meal and it includes the the market table/feijoada bar, sides, and your choice of dessert at the end and you leave stuffed. The closest thing to it currently is the Single Churrasco Cut for $40 though as the name suggests, it includes one choice of meat and no dessert which is still a good deal as you get the rest such as the market table and sides.
Anyway, all special stuff aside, I remember getting a caipirinha for $10 which had silver cachaça, fresh muddled limes, and cane sugar and it wasn't that good. Way too much lime and ice but hey it's an AYCE place and all day HH so I guess you get what you get. The servers were fine coming around pretty commonly for meats including several rounds of our favorites though they were a bit pushy in terms of offering some of the premium extras such as the ($29) shrimp cocktail, shots of their fancy drink which I think were $12 or $15, and other stuff.
Prior to the meats, the servers brought over some sides including Pão de Queijo/cheese bread (delicious,) roasted plantains (delicious of course,) and fried polenta with cheese (wouldn't bother as it's starch/filler.) I also stopped at the Market Table and Feijoada Bar. As noted above, this is an excellent deal for lunch as $20 gets you their wide selection of things from cold cuts to cheeses to salads to fresh fruit and of course feijoada; a black bean stew with meats commonly served with farofa. The feijoada is pretty solid here and I'm kind of happy that it's not as rich as you get to eat more of the meats.
Said menu outside of the specials had a couple standouts. The Picanha/Prime Top Sirloin was as expected the best of the bunch as it was juicy, tender, and not oversalted. The Fraldinha/Bottom Sirloin was my second favorite. It was more beefy than the other beef pieces. The Alcatra/Top Sirloin was a bit less tender than the Picanha of course but well flavored and a bit less rich as there was less marbling/fat. Of course it's a beef specialist spot so if you're looking for chicken/pork/lamb, I would recommend other places. The Cordiero/Lamb Picanha was a nice change of pace as it was a bit less tender but had good flavor though with a bit of gaminess. The Linguica/Spicy Pork sausage was tasty but the Costela de Porco was a bit dry. I'd skip the Medalhoes com Bacon/Bacon Wrapped Chicken and the Lombo/Pork as both were on the salty end. The Bisteca de Porco/pork chop was a bit dry and the Frango/Chicken was pretty plain. Last was the Queijo Assado/Fire-Grilled Brazilian Cheese which was delicious but filling.
The dessert choices at the end as part of the deal were the Tres Leches Cake, the Creme Brûlée, and the Chocolate Brigadero cake. I went with the latter listed as a rich truffled chocolate in a decadent chocolate cookie crust topped with chocolate ganache and sprinkles and this was easily the best of the bunch. It was rich of course but not as sweet as I thought it would be but it was a bit hard to appreciate after eating so much meat before that and I probably should taken it home. The Tres Leches was alright (the custard was a nice touch) while the Creme Brulee was decent.
Food here is tasty. It's mostly worth it at full price but is an outstanding deal at $49 or for lunch.
