I honestly went in with quite high expectations because I had heard so much about this place, especially the crispy duck that everyone supposedly talks about. But the moment it arrived, I knew something was off. The crispy duck, which should have been the star of the meal, was disappointing. The texture was not right, the flavour was flat, and it did not have the satisfying crunch that a good duck should deliver. For a dish that is meant to be famous, it felt like a letdown.
The wantan soup was even worse. The broth lacked depth and the wantans themselves did not have the fresh and springy bite you would expect. It was the kind of dish you take one spoon of and already know you will not order again.
The egg fried rice ended up being the only good thing on the table. It had good wok aroma, nice seasoning, and was comforting to eat. If not for this, the entire meal would have felt like a total miss.
The char siew was questionable. The flavour was uneven and the texture was not enjoyable. As for the roasted pork, I had heard so many good reviews before, but what I tasted was far from impressive. As a Chinese diner, roasted pork is something I take seriously, and this was honestly bad. The skin was not crisp and the meat lacked juiciness.
Overall, this meal was disappointing from start to finish. With the reputation they have, I expected much better, but it simply did not deliver.
