The 20 Best Restaurant Patios In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Even during the winter, Front Street Cafe is universally loved. But as soon as they set up their huge back patio for the season, it goes from being universally loved to universally idolized. And that’s because, while you can show up here any time of the year for everything from breakfast to late-night chicken fingers, they take patio reservations all summer long. That’s a game-changer—especially on weekend mornings when literally every other place with more than one outdoor table has a two-hour wait." - candis mclean, alison kessler

Front Street Cafe Review - Fishtown - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Front Street is universally loved. This is not an exaggeration. We asked our moms, our boss, our sister who’s still in college, that one guy we always see at the dog park, and our friend who self-identifies as an LinkedIn influencer. It’s one of the most versatile spots in Fishtown, serving food from breakfast until late night, with a cafe area in the front that’s perfect for grabbing a latte or smoothie. They’ve got a comfortable backyard, complete with a second bar for when the crowds start to take over inside, and they take reservations for all times of day, essential for when you’re trying to avoid that hour-wait on weekend mornings. photo credit: Rachel Lerro" - Jordan Price

This place is delightful. Walkable from anywhere in the wards. Good prices for this day and age (check out the old guy here saying things like, “this day and age”). Great service. Lots of people watching, since it’s right on the L. Tasty spicy margaritas. I had some fried banana bites and some weird but great maple mushroom bacon, the wife had the beet infused deviled eggs and soup. It’s gonna be on our list of places we can walk to, eat and have a drink, for under a hundred bucks and get in five miles on foot. Yes, that is a list we have. Love this place.

They were super quick to get us in (as a party of 6), the food was delicious, and the service was incredible. Victoria took great care of us! The coffee was so yummy. The shrimp and grits were super tasty and the french toast was good! Highly recommend!

Came here for lunch to catch up with a friend. Food was excellent. Get the strawberry lemonade!! You won’t regret it. We dined out in their courtyard area and it was fantastic. The service was on point and I had no complaints.

Enjoyed a late Saturday afternoon lunch at FSC. Nice modern place with a spacious dining room and comfortable outdoor space. Our server, Corinne, was helpful and took the time to answer any questions we had about the menu or the drink specials. The menu offered a variety of delicious choices that will appeal to everyone. I had the vegetable burger that had a surprisingly nice kick along with the corn chowder. I enjoyed both. The 3 of us had a great time at FSC and it was definitely worth the visit.

Came here early to grab some lunch and a couple drinks. Chose the patio seating because the weather was nice and it was pretty empty. Drinks were really good. The tacos were the perfect snack to get full off of easily. Loved the buffalo cauliflower. My kale Caesar salad was alright but there were a lot of very hard stems that I couldn’t really chew and had to pick out. The only disappointment really were the croutons on it. They tasted like days old deep fried bread and just crumbled apart in grease.

I went here for a drink while we waited for our table down the street. I wish I would have picked a different drink. I saw they had a specialty Mojito and asked for a regular one, bad move. I actually saw one of the bartenders, asking the other bartender how to make it, and it was trash. It could be partially my fault because they made it with rail rum, and I should’ve asked for Bacardi or something better. My husband got a specialty drink and he liked his. Looks like the spot would be really cute so I’m gonna give it another try and test out their food next time I’m there. I’ll be skipping the cocktails. I also noticed there weren’t any TVs, which I thought was fairly unique.

Cannot say enough about how great this place was. Had family brunch scheduled and turned out awesome. Food and service were high note. Highly recommend to put on your list.

We decided to revisit this Cafe and to our surprise our experience wasn’t all that great. The waiter was very standoffish and annoying. Now the less we sat and talked for a while and when we were done, that same waiter appeared to jump in front of us as if we would walk out without paying?? We ordered Brisket Burrito (8), The Sammie breakfast sandwich (8.5/10) ( I was told that I couldn’t swap bread because it was a “CHEAPER” item on the menu in which I never looked at the price just checked out all of the menus that were provided and ordered what I liked/wanted), and the Scrambled Egg, Cheese, Turkey Bacon, Toast, with Bean Sauce?? (8) Never tried bean with breakfast but to each his own lol. Iced Coffee with cold foam and we were charged extra for hazelnut, mayo, and onions. If you happen to be in the area check them out.

Yelp
I recently discovered I have a gluten allergy. John, our waiter was so wonderful and helpful. He even brought over Aaron, the bartender to educate me about safe cocktails and drinks. Ive very grateful for the wonderful gluten free food options, dairy free food options and exceptional service. thanks John and Aaron!

Yelp
I had a fantastic experience at Front Street Cafe! The service was incredibly fast and friendly, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. The food was delicious--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The atmosphere was another highlight; the cafe was clean, comfortable, and had a great vibe, perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. Overall, it was such a positive experience, and I'm already looking forward to coming back again soon! Highly recommend this spot for anyone in Fishtown or the surrounding area.

Yelp
I am about to write a very glowing review for them but unfortunately don't have any pictures to go along it. We came here with a couple of friends who chose this place, one of us is vegan and she loves the food here. Apparently they have a lot of vegan/vegetarian options. We ordered the twice baked sweet potato, the buffalo cauliflower, spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and the calabresi fusilli pesto - everything was absolutely to die for! I love anything pesto but lately have not been able to find a good pasta anywhere in the city. I am so glad we found this place and I hope they never take it off their menu! Their twice baked sweet potato is a delicacy in its own right. Their upstairs space is so cozy and warm, they have a couple of leather couches around a beautiful Christmas tree. I'll be going back soon before they take the tree down. I think it is such a perfect ambiance for a book and hot chocolate or a glass of wine.

Yelp
Food: Great! A bit pricey for brunch/lunch but overall very satisfying! Service: Hostess/Greeter was not friendly, welcoming or helpful (we arrived around 11:30a.m. on a sunday with no reservation) Our estimated wait time was 35 minutes but we were seated in 15! Ambiance: Cute and casual
google avatar

Yelp
Front street cafe has two floors and I was seated on the second floor. I ordered the steak and eggs from the special Menu and bottomless coffee. Everything was delicious! I loved the Christmas decor throughout the cafe.

Yelp
Great spot for vegetarians looking for good brunch vegetarian options in Fishtown! So much to choose from. Can't get enough of their grilled tofu! Service was speedy even on a busy Saturday morning!

Yelp
I've been here twice for brunch and while I am not vegan, I dine with someone who is often and can appreciate vegan food. With that said this is literally the best place for vegans and non vegans to go together to share a meal without issue. Front street cafe is a cute corner restaurant and while cozy and rustic inside, has a lot of enclosed outdoor seating. They have excellent coffee and tea options as well as great cocktails. This visit we had the masala chai tea and the ginger/turmeric chai tea. Both were great. The chais were served in a large mug with extra foam making me want to cozy up with a book in front of a fire place. To start, us and several tables around us got the buffalo cauliflower so you know it's good. There was no breading on the cauliflower which I loved. It had a non dairy sauce underneath and a buffalo sauce that had a kick but did not leave you with a burning mouth. For entrees we had the Benedict vegan style with tofu and vegan hollandaise and vegan scrapple, breakfast potatoes, apple hot cakes, and the huevos rancheros non vegan style. What a meal! Only in Philly will you find vegan scrapple. It was mushroom lentil and it was excellent. The cinnamon apple hot cakes were soooo moist they felt like they were made with love. It wasn't too sweet but it definitely didn't need syrup. The huevos rancheros had black beans and quinoa also. The whole meal was amazing. Needless to say we had to walk this food off. I wish more places catered to both vegan and non vegan alike. This place is truly a gem. The service was great, friendly and attentive. We will be back!

Yelp
Every time I've been to this place, I've always been thoroughly impressed. The food is always great, service is incredible and the atmosphere is warm and homey. Best place to take your family or your in-laws (even if they're a bit picky) so that was a plus! I'll always come here for a great meal!

Yelp
Very good Happy Hour with excellent veggie tacos mushroom taco and jackfruit taco nice selection of beers and after HappyHour we shared a tasty Harvest Salad - quinoa pepitas butternut squash arugula and we substituted regular feta for vegan feta We watched the bartenders mix so many tasty looking espresso martinis that we shared one of those too. All in all a great way to end a Sunday in Fishtown
google avatar

Yelp
Made it here for breakfast and they were very busy with a bit of a wait. However, the kitchen puts out amazing food very quickly so this should not be a worry to have. Interior is very welcoming and there is also a back patio when the weather is nicer. Drink and food selection was good, and there are lots of comfort food style breakfasts. Chilaquiles we're quite tasty and well put together. Very good place to stop in. Thanks

Yelp
Visited Front Street Cafe back after the new year when a friend made a last minute visit to Philly and said she wanted a burger. Fortunately, we saw FSC had a Tuesday night burger special which was decently priced and the food itself was decent! Service was quick and the cook was a perfect medium rare for me and a medium for my friend. It was a pretty quiet night inside with few tables but usually I see a lot of people inside when I walk by!
google avatar

Mina J.

Yelp
We went for a Saturday brunch with friends and loved how much variety was on the menu! One of our friends doesn't eat meat and had so many options to choose from. The chilaquiles were delicious and so was the fresh juice!
google avatar

Gabriella L.

Yelp
Not too bad, but not the best brunch in Philly. The service was good, the food came out quick, and the restaurant itself was nice! The food was OK. The Huevos Rancheros was warm, but not hot. The salmon platter was just OK, but the mushroom bacon was underwhelming as well.

Yelp
Why can't this DELICIOUS brunch burrito be on the menu all the time???? It's soooo good. The service is great. RHE SWEET POTATO FRIES ARE SWEET. LIKE THEY HAD POWDER????? I asked the waitress if they're good ... she said yes. did not mention that they're not like ANY OTHER sweet potato fries ever. Not my taste but just information. We literally did not eat it. Anyways the outdoors is why we still dine there. It's such a cute spot! happy hour is great.

Yelp
This was a cute dinner out. The ambiance was very cute outside with the lighting and decor. Service was fantastic and welcoming. We ordered the street corn shareable, french onion soup, and two burgers. The street corn was delicious, and I highly recommend as it was the highlight of our meal. The french onion soup was good, but 60% cheese and 40% soup so a warning to those who are lactose-intolerant. The burgers were yummy, and we preferred the spicy chicken over the brisket burger. The fries and side salad were both delicious.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Beautiful outdoor area with heat lamps and spacious interior. Happy hour food is only at the bar while you can get happy hour drinks at the table. They do half off the cocktail of the week for happy hour which is a steal! Great place for a night out.
google avatar

McKenna S.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place for breakfast in Fishtown today and wow did it deliver! The outside patio was amazing and our server was just the sweetest. I got the apple hotcake with a side of mushroom bacon which was absolutely delish. A lovely way to spend a slow morning in the city.
google avatar

Tori F.

Yelp
Came in early and were some of the first ones there, excellent service and kind staff. The vanilla iced coffee was delicious, as was the focaccia breakfast sandwich that was a brunch special. Although it seemed more like regular bread than focaccia, it was good. Fries were crispy and plentiful.
google avatar

M R.

Yelp
Vegetarian approved with something for everyone!! I brought my vegetarian parents here for dinner after seeing the numerous veg options on the menu. We were pleasantly surprised! The cauliflower was our favorite. Their brunch menu is also fantastic with lots of options. The outdoor seating is awesome as well. There's tons of seating so I never struggle to get a reservation. A good safe option when you have a large group of people with dietary restrictions!

Yelp
During our last stay in Philadelphia we stopped into Front Street Cafe just due to the sheer closeness of its location to where we were staying. I had the delicious Firefly drink, in addition to onion soup, a side of grilled chicken, and the fruit plate. I found the onion soup to be a bit too heavy, while the chicken was quite good. My main disappointment was that the fruit platter came with the yogurt and granola drizzled over the fruit, when I would have rather gotten it on the side. The one negative was that my napkin unfortunately smelled of mildew, which is the one star loss, but overall our experience was otherwise good, so I'd drop in again if in the area.

Yelp
Wow! I was very impressed with this place! Though parking is kind of a hassle, it was worth the experience. I've never been to Philadelphia before, and liked that this was in the Fishtown district as it was so cool to see the street cafes and bars. Walking into the restaurant, you get a really homey feeling and it's warm and inviting. I'm front you have a coffee bar available if you just want a coffee to go along with some pastries. Around this coffee area is bar seating which extends in a square around the other bar area. We had a reservation at 11am so we were seated right away in a booth in the back of the restaurant. I noticed that they had a patio outdoor area which I'm sure is really nice to be out there in warmer weather. Our sever came over and took our drink orders. I ordered one of their breakfast drinks however I did not like it. It was tequila and another liquor and just didn't mix well for me. But it looks beautiful! My other friend got a Bloody Mary. We then placed our food orders and I have to say the eggs Benedict I had was delicious. Not sure if the salad I got was a great pairing with it, but I did want something healthy! I tried a beer as my little cap to the breakfast and I did really like their beer selection as indicated below. If you're in the Fishtown area, please go check them out! If I ever go back to Philadelphia, il make sure to go again

Yelp
I saw the other reviews about the AYCE pasta being a scam if you came in late so I came in early. Yeah they ignore you on purpose. It took too long to order anything but they came out pretty quick. Which isn't great... Since I think these dishes were all just sitting around for hours. The quality was BAD. The pasta was just over done and mushy. Specially the baked pasta was mushy. Needed a spoon rather than a fork for it. The tortellini alfredo didn't taste right. The pasta's filling was bland and the sauce was like... hint of burnt garlic. Not worth the price.
google avatar

Yelp
My friends and I came here for a quick dinner before a concert at the Fillmore. It was pretty packed and without a reservation prior, we had to sit outdoors which was no problem since heat lamps were at every table. We ordered a round of cocktails, and the strawberry lemonade was the best! We also ordered a flatbread, a burger, and a mac and cheese - all of which were delicious. The flatbread had pesto and was the highlight of the dinner. The servers were attentive and even provided us a free lemonade when she made a mistake with our order. Overall great time and will be back!

Yelp
This is now my go to place when I come to Philadelphia. Unfortunately, I have only ever been for breakfast but they have a huge variety of items. They are very food allergy and sensitivity aware and have a wonderful selection of vegan options as well. Coffee was phenomenal and staff was friendly and very knowledgeable.

Yelp
I went here with my wife early on a Saturday afternoon to try out this spot we pass by often. From the start we began to notice that the service was very slow. It took at least 15 minutes for us to be greeted and offered water after being seated. The wait was to the point that we considered getting up from our table and leaving to find somewhere else to eat. Once we were finally greeted and our order was taken, the food took a while to come out too. We didn't think too much into that as we understood that it was a nice, warm Saturday and people were out and about, so naturally the cafe was busy. The food was yummy, up until my wife found a hair in her French toast...we understand that can happen anywhere, but sadly her appetite depleted after that (the cafe kindly removed this item from our bill, thankfully). I did, however, really enjoy the buffalo cauliflower and would definitely recommend that appetizer to people who may still want to try this spot out. After flagging down our server to ask for the check, we once again watched 15 minutes go by as we waited for her to bring it out to us. Then, when 15 more minutes passed after receiving the check and being ready with the card to pay, I ended up having to go up to another staff member to ask to be checked out. Overall, I would consider it an okay dining experience. We did not feel attended to by our server (we had to keep searching for her), and we found ourselves underwhelmed, given the events that occurred during our outing.

Yelp
Very nice, chill spot for food and drinks. Service was good. Good outdoor seating. I had the spicy chicken sandwich with really hearty soup of the day. Chicken was crispy and not too spicy. Reply enjoyable time!
google avatar

Yelp
Met here to have dinner with family we haven't seen for years. It was a great choice for atmosphere, food, and drinks, would strongly recommend. The only big letdown was the server. Despite the fact that it wasn't very busy, she seemed to forget we were there. She forgot to order the appetizer we asked for and just took forever to stop by the table for anything. We would have ordered more drinks, but by the time she came by, we were over it. She took forever to bring the check, forever to pick it up, and forever to bring it back. We ended up being there almost two hours because of her delays.

Yelp
Update to my review from 8 years ago. I've been a tried and true customer here. A few months ago, I was here for a double date. After the bill came, a hostess came by and told us that we had to leave. Having been in the service industry, I understand the need to turn tables but it hadn't been an excessive amount of time between the time the check dropped to the time she demanded that we leave. This happened in the beginning of the summer and I haven't been back since. Honestly, I was really put off by how brazenly rude she was. I have noticed that the service I've gotten in the last year or so has declined. Last year, I celebrated my bday and they put us upstairs. We would had really gotten our drink on except, the server NEVER came back after taking our food order, not even to check if we liked our food, then we were charged an automatic gratuity for a group of 7. While I am happy to tip and think that it's a necessity as servers rely on tips, BUT we shouldn't be ignored because it's an automatic tip. Advice to management: Make your presence known so customers can point out when this occurs in real time. Give staff better training on how to talk to guests. People anticipate that things happen but rude employees should never be one of them

Yelp
This was our second visit at Front Street Cafe after a long time. First visit, food was not great but had heard a lot from neighbors so tried another brunch but our experience food-wise didn't change. Csme here on weekend and were seated immediately. We ordered Huevo Ranchero which was decent. Portions were not large that you typically get in Philly but good enough for one person. Ordered Biscuit and Gravy from their specials, apparently had a twist of spicy-ness. The biscuits were very dry to the extent that we had to return them. The server did admit that the biscuits were a cooked a day before and not fresh. I was shocked why would they put something on their specials menu and not give it their best. Very Disappointing. Ordered breakfast sandwich which was literally egg, bacon and cheese on brioche bun. Very basic and nothing to rave about. For the price, expected something nice. From service standpoint, the folks were awesome. Right form the time we entered, we were greeted with a smile and our server was very nice and attentive. Also, coffee refills were timely. The stars are for service only. Food was not great. Service excellent.

Yelp
We were able to walk into Front Street Cafe for brunch with 5 people and waited around 30 minutes for a table. While waiting, we tried to order a drink at the bar but the bartenders didn't seem super attentive. We enjoyed the meal though & there is a lot of allergen information on the menu. My sister had the chicken fingers which were really good. My mom had the brisket sandwich which was great. My friend had the chipotle, turkey burger, and I had the turkey club on gluten-free bread, which was awesome. The ambience was great and they have an upstairs private area and restaurant seating upstairs as well. Food was very great but service was OK. I would still return.

Yelp
Came for the Wednesday all you can eat pasta, and you know what? For $30, it's a great deal! The portion sizes are modest, so between two people, it's absolutely possible to try all six that are on the menu, possibly with seconds if you're really hungry. But I love the value, love the variety, and the salads and focaccia (especially the marinara that came with the bread) were great! The pasta itself is decent, not amazing. Some pastas were a bit too chewy still (the Tuscan pesto had a few chewy, almost dry-interior pieces) while some were overcooked (the Alfredo linguine definitely was overcooked, and the pappardelle was too thin and soft). The bean ravioli--I appreciate the vegetarian option but the sauce was a bit too acidic and the beans with the ravioli was a jarring texture combo. The mac n cheese noodles were definitely overcooked, but that's probably because it was gluten free. The mac was my least favorite of the options. But the rest of them had great sauces. My husband's favorite was the pesto, while mine was either the brisket stroganoff or the alfredo, minus the overcooked pasta. Also, wish they'd sear the shrimp or something instead of just steaming or boiling them. Still, it was enjoyable. Good for when you need to carboload! Service was good, then got slower as it got busy. If you want to maximize the amount you can eat, maybe go early... Also, note that when I made my reservation, the only slot available was 5:15, but when I showed up at the restaurant, it was very empty. So the reservation system can be deceiving! If you can't get a resy and can get there by 5:30-6 on Wednesday, you're probably good.

Darren D.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTLEY DISGUSTING DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Worse than airplane food. Was actually inedible, and I've never met a piece of pasta i didnt like. Service was also horrible and so rude. I wanted to box up my pasta and the server told me I couldn't and then physically whisked the plate of pasta away from our table before we could get another bite.
google avatar

Yelp
I saw someone post about this on IG/ TikTok so here I am trying their Wednesday $30 AYCE pasta. So this review is for those who are interested in this event since I didn't see much reviews on Yelp. We made a reservation for the earliest dinner time available 5:15pm. We arrived early around 5 and we're the first ones there in the empty restaurant. So not sure if a reservation was needed for such an early time but I do recommend reserving after 6pm as that's when we started to see a crowd. As the first ones there, our food came out fast and imho better quality than when service got busy later. (Ie when we ordered later when there was a crowd, certain dishes became more salty and overcooked and the cheese weren't toasted enough. The pasta in Tuscan fusilli pesto seemed a bit undercooked on the inside or if that's how it's supposed to be, I'm not sure. We loved all the dishes with cheese haha (notes to be our fav in their respective pics). We recommend putting in the next order when your previous order comes out as it takes a while for it to be out. We ordered a total of 5 rounds of 2 pastas: 3 rounds to try the three different pairs, and the last 2 re-ordering what we liked. Definitely recommend going with 2 or more people so you can share. Portions are reasonably small, except the Summer primavera cavatelli which seems larger than the rest. Downsides: As I was comparing the menu to the food we got, the description was quite misleading. For eg: the chicken Mac and cheese said it'll have BBQ roasted chicken however it was definitely not that roasted. Another instance is the included focaccia with supposedly roasted peppers. Perhaps the peppers were roasted but they are definitely soggy and watery now and I didn't see the roasted char. Ok, I have a bone to pick with the female bathroom. The sink... is an expensive disaster. Only one faucet works and even then the water flows at a rate of 1mL/hr lol! And the faucet is positioned so close to the slightly jagged stone sink which was not a pleasant hand washing experience. It took not just me but other people to search for the soap which was ultimately in the container labeled "lotion". As for tips: There is an automatic 20% tip and 2% service charge regardless of party size. This is fine as our server was competent and pleasant, ...however the other AYCE places I've been to, the highest automatic gratuity is 18% upon parties of 4-6/more and this was the only place I've seen to have 20% regardless of size. I find that suspicious. They have other special events on other days but our waiter took away our menu before I could take a picture. Service was fast as they work as a team to take away plates and deliver dishes, however we could only order from our designated server.

Yelp
Nice outdoor seating area. We arrived Sunday early afternoon for brunch and were seated promptly. The server came right over. He was able to provide some good recommendations, one being the shrimp and grits. Everything was good. The pear lychee martini was delicious and strong. Overall, a good last minute brunch decision.

Yelp
Definitely recommend! Came in at opening time so we were the first ones in. Service was great very kind staff. Seems like a good place for any meal of the day. Your coffee ones from a coffee station with a Barista and they also have a nice Bar area. The place is very nice and food is amazing.

Yelp
Nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere. BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER IS GREAT. Haven't had a meal here I didn't like and would definitely go again.

Yelp
I was thoroughly dissappointed with this place. The only nice thing was the ambiance and the decor but otherwise I dont understand the hype at all. My husband and I came on a random midafternoon for lunch. We had been wanting to try this place and finally got the time to. We were seated and it seemed like our server forgot about us. No one came to take our order for like 20 mins. It wasnt even that busy. We saw our server walk by our table a few times and she never attended to us. (Not sure if she did not know we were her table or what?) We finally put in our order and ordered the buffalo cauliflower, the veggie burger, and the chipotle turkey burger. All the dishes were underwhelming. The buffalo cauliflower lacked flavor and not sure why it was highly rated at one point. The FSC veggie burger was bland as well. The chipotle turkey burger was the only decent item. Overall, a very negative experience and especially with the poor service we are very turned off from this place.

Yelp
Me and my sister came last night for the $30 AYCE pasta on Wednesdays. There were pros and cons. The cons were so bad but the pros were so good so it's hard to give it an accurate score. So the AYCE menu comes with "focaccia" and either a salad or a 1/2 off app. The focaccia was not that. It was just regular bread. No seasoning. No oil. Kinda stodgy. And it was served with a side of marinara and roasted red peppers. I personally would have appreciated butter or oil since it was unflavored. It also wasn't even toasted. I got the salad. It came with a ginger dressing. It was good. My sister got the fried mozzarella app. I do not think that was fried mozzarella. There was no cheese pull and the texture was really soft and fragile like tofu. I think it was fried tofu honestly. (Edit: when I was captioning the pictures, it said it was v/gf so I went back to the menu and saw it was not cheese at all. It's a cashew based cheese. My bad for not seeing it on the menu when we ordered. But I feel like it should've been more obvious. Like "vegan fried mozzarella" on the menu). And my sis didn't like the breadcrumb batter. Moving on to the pastas. We each got 2 diff ones so we can try more variety. Sweet potato gnocchi - good. Soft. The sauce was a mushroom sauce but it tasted like truffle, even tho truffle wasn't mentioned in the menu. I don't think I loved the combo of the combo of the sweet flavor of sweet potato with the mushroom sauce but it wasn't offensive. Like I would've preferred a regular gnocchi with that sauce. Duck Mac and cheese - fantastic. The best thing I had there. So gooey. So savory. It had such a nice cheese pull. It was just a bowl of fat comfort. Like you eat it and you know it's bad for you but it just feels really good. It was super oily tho. My sister didn't like it but I LOVED it. I would go back just for that. Calabresi Fusilli pesto - it was a perfect pesto. But it was just that. A pesto. My sister liked this the best though. Artichoke linguini - this was the most mild pasta dish we had. Just tasted like butter noodles with a hint of lemon. It wasn't bad. Just was super safe, super bland. It came with these charred artichokes and one of them almost took me out cause it was kinda sharp to swallow (my bad for not chewing properly). But it came with these nice plump shrimp that were perfectly cooked and the shrimp was the only thing I liked about the plate. So here's where I had a problem. The server, as nice as she was, did not tell us the kitchen closed at 9pm. I also wasn't aware of the restaurant hours (they close at 9). Our reservation was at 8pm so we only had an hour to order. And the way they do the AYCE is you order one dish, then when the server sees you're finishing up, then you can order your next dish. You cannot order many dishes at once. I don't prefer this either. I'd rather have multiple plates out at once so I can go back and forth between dishes. But anyway, it was 8:30ish when we we were asked to put in our second dish. We received our dish at 8:50ish. At 9:07, I asked to put in a third dish (since this is an AYCE) and I was told the kitchen closed at 9. For someone eating an AYCE, I feel like they scammed me out of my full experience. I feel like after we put in the 2nd dish, the server should have let us know that the kitchen is closing and asked if we wanted anything else to be put in. Additionally I saw a mouse running under a nearby table. But this is philly and I've worked in the restaurant business before so I know mice are bound to happen. But to see one where I just saw ppl eating 30 min prior on the dining floor. Yikes. Maybe they need to get more traps or something. So it's hard to give this an accurate score because I LOVED the duck Mac and the rest of the pastas were pretty good overall. But the apps we got (bread and fried mozzarella) were atrocious. And even though our server was nice, I think not letting us know the kitchen was closing even though we did an AYCE was not okay.

Yelp
Front St Cafe is proper! I have come here several times the service is always good at atmosphere is good the patio is proper also. I did even realize it was so nice because I never went back there, so anyway I was there today and got Vegan pancakes, which were very good they even bumped them up a notch sense the late time I came and the Vegan lentils scrapple was good. I got a hot tea that was truly tasty I got a second cup Sorry I can't remember the name I think it was firefly - but it was not the turmeric one it was the other one that's a little sweeter but not sugary sweet.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a friend and had an overall pleasant experience. Interior was cozy and nicely decorated which made the overall experience feel much better. The fries here are delicious, and the loaded fries I ordered with my friend had a great spice to it. The spicy fried chicken sandwich was good and a good size, but honestly nothing extraordinary - I found it hard to justify paying $15 for it.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE this place! I've only been here once, but my gf loved it so much that she went back (and I had her leftovers). Portions are huge, menu is creative, many vegan options that are actually delicious and nice staff!

Yelp
Front Street Cafe is a full restaurant and bar with a outdoor garden patio in Philadelphia's Fish Town. We enjoyed a late lunch here on a Saturday after a walk from our nephew's row house. The menu is very nice, and we had a hard time narrowing down what we ordered: SOUP DU JOUR (4/5) -- The soup of the day was Butternut Squash & Apple.  It was tasty, but the apple -- which we think was from cider or juice rather than puréed apples -- overpowered the squash. ($6 small) BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER (5/5) -- Dressing cooked cauliflower in Buffalo Sauce worked brilliantly.  We loved the heat on the tender cauliflower which was served up on a cucumber-dill airline. ($14) BRISKET BLEND BURGER (5/5) -- This was the best hamburger we've had in a very long time.  The brisket burger was grilled rare like we requested, and the brioche bun was perfect.  The taleggio cheese and garlic-thyme aioli added subtle flavor and texture. Excellent! ($17) BATTERED FRIES (2/5) -- We ordered this as a side dish.  Although hot and crisp, we couldn't detect any batter on the fries. ($6) For drinks, we enjoyed BLOODY MARY (4/5 $10) and a DARK & STORMY (4/5). Service was uneven and not attentive. The interior features brick walls and heavy dark wood accents, including an oversized bar -- very nice.  Outside, the patio is surrounded by a brick wall -- very private.   Nice. Food . . . . .  4/5 Service . . .  3/5 Ambiance . 4/5 Drinks . . . . 4/5

Yelp
Absolute favorite cafe in Fishtown! I had the most exquisite birthday brunch here - a loaded vegetarian breakfast burrito, washed down with a sampling of their flavorful mimosas. This spot is perfect for all-hours, but at the time, it was just right for me to get some writing done while fueling my creativity. The staff are warm and incredibly helpful. I sat at the table and the bar on separate visits and overall enjoyed both experiences. I look forward to bringing a friend here, but for now it's my spot to reminisce on the birthday when I could enjoy an intimate celebration, at a nice social distance from the office.

Yelp
Rude server. Treated us like we weren't worth their time. Brought my SIL for brunch - food was overpriced. Definitely felt like our server was discriminating against us and treating us like children. (3 Asian young adults). Seeing reviews expected a lot more. Posting this review about an experience last year.

Yelp
Had lunch here with a friend today. Service was excellent. We sat in the outdoor rear area which was very pleasant. We ordered fairly standard fare, a turkey club sandwich and a brisket/beef burger, both were very good, accompanying fries were fresh and hot. The juices with ginger and turmeric were delicious. Haven't been here for about 3 years but it's definitely back on my go-to lunch list.
