A friend recently told me that Fudo has amazing sushi, so of course I had to try it out! My partner and I dined here last Saturday, as soon as the doors opened. Although it was noon, we were given a dinner menu. So, I believe they only serve dinner - no matter what time - on the weekends.
First off, I love the restaurant's industrial design! The decor was unique compared to what you'd normally see in a sushi restaurant in Atlanta.
For food, my partner and I ordered the Rice Cake, Otoro, Devil Roll Sushi, and an Oyako-Don Donburi.
Out of everything I had, the Rice Cake ($10) was my least favorite. I ordered it because my friend had raved about this grilled Korean rice cake with gochujang aioli and cheese. I personally thought the appetizer had way too much cheese, but I'm sure cheese lovers will enjoy it.
The Otoro (2 pieces for $22) had an amazing umami flavor and it just melted in my mouth. The Devil Roll Sushi ($15) was equally great! It came with eight sushi pieces, with four pieces topped with salmon, two with yellowtail, and two with avocado. Each sushi had a slice of Serrano peppers, and sriracha.
Lastly, the Oyako-Don ($18) consisted of white meat chicken with teriyaki sauce, bok choy, and lotus chips. The flavors were great, and the chicken and bok choy were cooked perfectly. However, the bowl's rice-to-ingredients ratio was off; there was too much rice.
Overall, we loved our experience here. The sushi was fresh and delicious! We were also impressed with the service. Throughout the entire time, from ordering to eating and then checking out, staff was attentive and kind. This was the first time I experienced staff filling my glass with water continuously, without me having to ask. You guys have no idea how much I appreciated this!
