Where to Find Seattle’s Best Coffee | Eater Seattle

"Fulcrum is mostly known as one of the best roasters in the city — as well as one of the few roasting companies with a coffee farmer, Blas Alfaro, in a leadership role — but its small new-build cafe in Belltown is well worth checking out. Sure the coffee here is good, but the seasonal drinks are next-level: Fall offerings last include a cardamom cookie latte and an Oktoberfest latte featuring Jonboy caramel sauce, vanilla, orange, and cinnamon." - Harry Cheadle

Where to Get Eye-Opening Cold Brew and Seasonal Coffee Drinks in Seattle

"This esteemed roaster based out of SoDo (with a Belltown cafe) does it all: nitro cold brew, canned cold brew when you’re on the go, and a whole array of seasonal drinks. Our favorite at the moment is the Espresso Cherry Cola, which tastes like a Cherry Coke that has gone through puberty." - Rachel Hopke, Harry Cheadle, Eater Staff

Fulcrum Coffee Review - South Lake Union - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Fulcrum is a relaxing place to drink coffee and work—the tables are made of marble and there's a lot of expensive-looking wood everywhere. Get one of their lattes made with flavorings like black sesame and brown sugar or goat milk and elderflower as well as a granola bar cookie and you're set for a productive morning." - Aimee Rizzo

Google
Super busy in the mornings. We still managed to get the table. We got a pistachio coffee and a mocha And a spinach pastry. They have a lot of food options aswell. I would go back again!

Google
Had a lovely empanada and oat cortado here! The vibe of the shop was cool but chill, and the location and coffee were great. Definitely worth a stop!

Google
I ordered an 8oz ube vanilla latte. The espresso was good but the flavoring I paid $0.75 for could have been more pronounced. A very rude customer cut me line and demanded to be served so that didn’t help me overall experience. The place is cute but it is not worth the $8 I paid for an 8oz latte.

Google
Decent espresso. The empanadas are really good. The music was a little weird for a Monday morning vibe. A little bit on the expensive side.

Google
Cutest coffee shop with solid espresso. Got a nice cortado in such a cute little mug! Great ambiance for studying/working

Google
Good coffee, smooth espresso! Some indoor seating and a nit of seating outside as well. There were also a few pastries to choose from.

Super tasty and creamy and soft latte. Masala chai was also good. Will come back Pretty and well decorated place. Cozy. Has live plants. Clean

Google
We came here on weekday mornings, and there were already some lines & most seats were occupied. The coffee and tea items were all pretty good (e.g., sesame latte, bee pollen latte, cream of pistachio latte). The pastries / bread were also nice (e.g., French toast, spinach brioche, morning roll, dill and cheese scone). Overall, we really enjoyed our time having breakfast here. Highly recommend!

Yelp
First time visiting the store after passing by this place for so many times! Absolutely love the vibe and interior design! Simple, chic, modern and clean! They have plenty of tables and seats if you plan to stay, work or study for a little, or just hang out with friends. Some interesting selections of drinks and syrups that you don't usually find in other cafes. You order drinks at the counter and serve yourself. After using the table, bus it yourself as well. Price of the coffee is consider within the average in the area. My latte (12oz) with the latte art looks great, milk is creamy and smooth.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and I tried the Oktoberfest latte, which I had made with half the sweetener and oat milk. My total for a 12oz latte came out to be just over $9! Honestly the sticker shock was real when I paid for my drink. I guess the cafe being in SLU makes sense now with the price point lol. My latte also ended up being too sweet, despite the barista making it with half the sugar. My friend's plain vanilla latte was also not filled all the way to the top, so there is an inconsistency with the quantity, and that matters when you get a 12oz drink that is $8-10.

Yelp
Pastries You can't go wrong with their classics but they also have unique flavors like garlic twists! They even offer to heat up your pastry! Love love love! Drinks Not overly sweet and just right! They have Asian inspired flavored drinks. Ambiance Super casual and lots of peeps come in here to chat, hang, and network or do work and writing. Service Baristas are super friendly!

Yelp
Nice minimalist coffee shop. Fun flavors including a cardamom cookie latte. Staff was nice and very quiet which seemed to be the overall vibe inside with chill music and people whispering in convos. Liked the variety of coffee beans.

Yelp
I remember the first time i ever visited fulcrum. The moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the clean, spacious atmosphere and modern decor. It's a breath of fresh air compared to other coffee shops in the area. Fast forward a year or two later, and I still get that vibe. Their menu is impressive, offering a unique selection of delicious food and drinks at reasonable prices. Even the service is always spot on. I always find myself admiring their all around polish.. if that even makes sense to anyone, but me. I'm truly impressed by everything this place has to offer." For example. My sandwich. Not just a regular turkey sandwich they pull from a package and then toast or heat up. They make it fresh to order. All of the ingredients were balanced, from the flavors to the portions. Also they don't just use boring old ingredients. They use the good stuff. The foccacia break had rosemary seasonings on it. The rosemary was not over powering, while chewing I kept tasting pleasant hints of the rosemary. And one more thing. The bread wasn't overly toasted. I lied theres more. They put basil on it and then made a tomato pesto spread and gave me extra on the side. Wait not basil pesto and slices of tomatoes, we have tomato pesto and slices of Basil leaves. They hit the reverse card on this sandwich. And that's just their turkey sandwich. They also offer breakfast and various baked goods. I haven't said much about the coffee because I'm sure many reviews have mentions of this. And I don't drink coffee any more.... we'll, when the seasons change. Lol. The end.

Yelp
Fulcrum never fails! It's a lovely spot tucked in SLU. Really modern vibes here. I freaking want all the stoneware so bad. We got a latte and a chrysanthemum matcha tea latte! Both absolutely hit. I don't think you can be disappointed by a drink here. Great ingredients always really rich flavors. We hit up the ham and cheese croissant as well- total banger. A great spot for yummy, fancy coffee. I always see people working here, it's that kind of vibe.

Yelp
Lovely spot to stop by for some coffee!! Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for drinks and would love to try their selection of food next time. Enjoyed the spacious seating and natural light, seems like a nice spot to post up and get some work done as well.

Yelp
Really liked this cafe! Service is friendly, vibes are nice, they are pup friendly!, and drinks/food is tasty! Lots of seating in this cute cafe! Indoor and outdoor seating is available. We ordered the maple hojicha latte and a sausage, egg, biscuit sandwich. I was really happy with how good the hojicha latte was and the biscuit was also super yummy! Would definitely come back for both of these items again!

Yelp
Fulcrum is one of many coffee shops in the SLU/Belltown area. Drink prices are on par for the rest of the city. I appreciate they're open later than others, so I get that extra hour to work! The interior is chic and clean, but this place is always BUSY! I usually am an oatmilk drinker, but they happened to be out one afternoon. I went with nonfat and the coffee tasted burnt and horrible, I threw it out. However, this was an off chance - my drinks otherwise have always been delicious! Their bathroom is a little sketchy, but that's really the only part of this space that isn't lovely.

Yelp
Grabbed some coffee this AM for bf and I. This is my first latte that was actually pretty and tasted good. It was sweet so they gave me some sweetener to add. Got bf the cold brew and he said it was good. Customer service was great. The worker was informative and helpful. It was steady and busy for 9am and looks like a great spot to catch up on work or study.

Yelp
Fulcrum Cafe is a small, brightly lit, dog-friendly coffee shop that has a few locations in Seattle. This review is for the Belltown location. Fulcrum offers classic coffee and non-coffee beverages, as well as signature drinks that all sounded so amazing I almost couldn't choose. I ended up choosing the Cream of Pistachio (12 oz), which is entirely non-dairy, made with oat milk instead. All espresso drinks come with 2 shots regardless of size. I think 12 oz is a good balance of coffee + milk, but if you want more milk, upgrade to the 16 oz for 50¢ more. The drink was as its name implied, creamy and nutty. Delicious! They even drew lovely latte art for me without me asking. Next time, I'd like to try the Snuggle Me, Sesame and the Coconut Taro Latte. If you don't like coffee, don't worry, they also have signature non-coffee drinks like their Milk & Honey (jasmine milk tea), London Fog, and Pumpkin Chai. There is ample seating and wifi to work in the cafe, and your dogs can even sit indoors with you. Street parking only, which may be difficult to find in Belltown.

Yelp
The breakfast sandwiches have big, crumbly and fluffy biscuits. Tried the Turkey Sausage Biscuit Sandwich and The Chutney Sandwich ($10.95 each). The biscuit itself was nice but I thought the egg and the chutney were kind of a weird unappetizing combination. I want to come back and try the drinks, they sounded super unique. Clean, bright modern interior with some seating. Cool bright installation.

Yelp
Great place to study or hang out with friends. We ordered the Jasmine Tea and Coconut Taro Latte, and both were good. The tea was fresh and light in caffeine. The servers were very friendly and gave great suggestions. Will come back again for brunch next time.

Yelp
I really love how bright and modern this place is. I can't help but look at the gorgeous details of this cafe. The soy matcha drink was good, I loved the touch of the chrysanthemum syrup. And my barista was very friendly, thank you.

Yelp
We visited several coffee shops looking for pastries and coffee. This place is where we had the best coffee. I had the "snuggle me sesame" so good! Just the perfect amount of sweetness and smooth. Baristas were very friendly and helpful, too. Really cool mellow vibes, would love to come back.

Yelp
I typically never venture out to this side of the city, and had never known about this spot until a friend suggested it! I came on a Monday around noon and it was packed - we could only find seating outside at first but luckily the weather was nice. I got the snuggle me sesame latte (how cute is the name?), which is automatically made with oat milk which I appreciated since I'm not a fan of regular milk. To be fair though, the price accurately reflects this inclusion. The latte was nice and creamy, but the sesame flavor wasn't too strong. It added a nice touch of nuttiness though. The seating inside is really nice - cozy with a lot of seats and great for working. I'd be back more frequently if the prices weren't so high!

Yelp
We went here to study on a Saturday afternoon. This place is pretty unassuming from the outside, but inside was super cozy and aesthetic! It was a little busy when we got here, but we were able to find a spot. Pretty much every table had an accessible outlet which makes this a great spot for studying! It's also not located in a super busy area so while there were people coming and going, a lot of people were mostly studying/working or hanging out. When we went up to order, the cashier was super friendly and gave us recommendations of most popular drinks. They have a lot of super creative drinks and make all their syrups in house. I got the pistachio cream latte. It deserves the highest praise of "not too sweet"! The drink came is a super cute cup with really pretty latte art. I definitely was able to romanticize my study session with the super cute presentation of the drink. The décor was minimalistic. It was a super calming to work. The lighting was soft and not too harsh and the light fixture gave me "I wanna swing from a chandelier vibes." 4/5 because it was good, but not necessarily too memorable. I would go again if I was in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way.
google avatar

Vivian O.

Yelp
I met up with friends at fulcrum to study and it's a decent place to get work done! The three of us managed to fit all of our laptops on one table with our drinks and it worked out. There was an outlet under our seat which was nice since we stayed for a couple of hours. I'm unsure if the cafe itself has wifi but we all connected on a public wifi which worked great. For my drink I got a 12oz honey graham latte ($7) which I loved!! It came in such a cute ceramic cup with latte art and had good flavor. I could really taste the oat milk and it was subtlety sweet with the honey graham flavor. Overall I thought the cafe was pretty nice! I liked their clean aesthetic, and the ring of lights hanging down is definitely eye catching. Everyone else in the cafe seemed to be studying too so it's definitely a space to be productive! I didn't give it five stars because while I would come back, it's not a place I would necessarily rave about.

Yelp
If you know me, I'm a sucker for a cafe that provides distinct specialty drinks. Before kickstarting our day, my bestie Jennifer L. and I were in need of a little boost. She suggested we check out Fulcrum Café's speciality beverages and it was a splendid choice. I love a cafe that gives off a calm energy and Fulcrum delivered just that! The layout is spacious with plenty of tables and high stools for those to sit and sip at. Outlets and great lighting are bountiful and it seems like a popular spot to work. We chose to sit by the window and admire the outside which was peaceful. The barista who helped us was the absolute sweetest! Aside from providing recommendations for drinks, just talking to her about the neighborhood was so much fun. Our beverages came out promptly which was a plus. This place screams friendly, respectful neighborhood cafe to me that I'd make my go-to if I lived in the area. I'm not big on coffee but their specialty drinks caught my attention which are seasonal. I ordered a 12oz Hot Maple Hojicha while my friend got a 12oz Hot Snuggle Me, Sesame. Drinks can come hot or iced and range in 8, 12, or 16oz sizes. Dairy alternatives are available as well. My drink was frothy and hojicha-forward but I didn't get any hints of maple. My friend enjoyed her drink but we agreed that the base was overpowering and the flavor profiles could be better. Belltown residents, you're blessed as Fulcrum Café is a quaint gem perfect to work or study while serving crafted caffeinated beverages with a smile! Parking is limited to the street or structure. I'd love to come back next time I'm in Seattle to try their other speciality drinks!
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
I visited Fulcrum Cafe in Belltown just to purchase fresh coffee beans. The cafe was cute, modern, gave you a home like vibe. If I lived nearby I would definitely be a frequent visitor. In addition to the beans I purchased a spinach croissant as well. They asked if I wanted it heated up which I took them up on. I watched as the baristas took the item out of the warmer and let it sit out for quite awhile until the cashier who took my order finally grabbed it. I think I was a bit antsy because I was in a hurry. Realistically it didn't take too long. Not a place to visit if you're in a hurry. Sense of urgency is not there but good quality stuff if you're patient.
google avatar

Jenna D.

Yelp
It's got interesting coffee options, but it's Seattle so be prepared to spend. I got a 16 oz mint tea, and it was $5, before tip. It also only had one teabag. While service was friendly, it's not a place to stop in and get in/get out - they certainly take their time. There are very basic food choices so I wouldn't It's a nice, big, airy space, but beware, there is only one bathroom - I ended up leaving as there was a line and the person that was in there when walked in was still there 20 min later. Woof! I think it would be a cute place if I made that Amazon money, but otherwise, I will skip it next time.
google avatar

Tyler K.

Yelp
I shot a 79 at Chambers Bay after eating this so clearly, this is the best golf fuel. They have a really efficient system. Their food partnerships are great too (love French Guys). I really enjoyed their masala chai latte as well.
google avatar

Tori N.

Yelp
This was such a cute cafe I found when walking around Seattle. I was hoping to find a cafe to sit and enjoy breakfast, and when I got there it was pretty busy so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to stay, but luckily there was a small area by the window with a chair that I could take. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit and the ancient sunrise tea and was so surprised when my name was called and I picked up my order. The biscuit was large and the tea came in a really cute set up. Both were so delicious, it was the perfect start for what I was looking for on a cold and rainy Sunday morning.
google avatar

Sylvia L.

Yelp
I was very disappointed. The drinks were very bland, the baristas didn't seem professional, the place was full of people working on their laptops and the atmosphere was really bad. I don't think I'll go back.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
If you're looking for a hyper modern, third wave, vibrant coffee shop this is the place to go to. They have a vast selection of roasts to choose from and some that even start at $14 for 12oz which is quite hard to find these days for quality coffee. I ordered their Indonesian single origin espresso which was well balanced and a kimchi egg biscuit sandwich that was very delish. The seating wasn't that comfortable and felt a bit cramped but overall it was an enjoyable experience!
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Fulcrum beans are served across multiple cafes across Seattle and it's no wonder it's a favorite. I love how strong their coffee is and the unique blends they create. I got the sesame which was very overpowering. What I don't like about this place is that people are constantly going in and out, and it doesn't stop. Ever. So, you get people standing all around you, orders that take over 10 minutes, and a lack of tables likely occupied by Amazonians or people doing one-on-one meetings. I would love this place more if the location was more convenient or if it was bigger, but you might as well just get their coffee elsewhere.
google avatar

Jack S.

Yelp
Great pastries and the coffee lives up to its hype. The shots were pulled just right. Friendly staff and I love the interior ambiance. Good place to stop for the morning caffeine before work.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
This was walking distance from our hotel so we strolled down to grab a bite to eat. It was a Saturday morning so as expected, they were quite busy. We were 3rd in line and it went pretty fast. I ordered a tomato, pesto, & egg sandwich and my husband got an almond croissant. Both were delicious and hit the spot! We also got a cream of pistachio latte and a regular latte. Both were good. There was available seating indoors and outside. We decided on outside because of how busy it was, which was really nice enjoying the breeze and morning sun.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
Food - the veggie protein options are amazing and I was so pleased to have many choices for a vegetarian! The drink was also excellent and it was hard to choose. I will be coming back here weekly after work! Service - very friendly and prompt service. Ambiance - cute little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Nice spot for sitting and getting some work done or grab and go.
google avatar

Victoria K.

Yelp
My friend took me here as I was visiting Seattle! I took a look at the menu the day before and loved the specialty coffee menu that they had-- it was really extensive and super unique. I applaud this breakfast sandwich just from pure heft alone. Like she is huge and they definitely don't skimp on that biscuit, which I thoroughly appreciated being from NYC and being used to Starbucks giving me the absolute tiniest breakfast sandwich ever. Though I liked the size of the sandwich, this definitely gave "frozen and thrown into the microwave." I felt like it was barely warm enough, and the elements inside didn't taste fresh. The biscuit, though it did the job, tasted on the drier end. The iced pistachio latte was fine enough in that it was nutty, but I didn't get PISTACHIO from it. I could see that it had pistachio bits at the bottom of the cup, but the pistachio flavor didn't go through the whole drink.
google avatar

Niya Z.

Yelp
tried regular latte with their discovery blend and the signature beverage pistachio cream, coffee is pretty nice the cream is not
google avatar

Sean Y.

Yelp
I like their pastries selections. Fresh and delicious! They also have creative seasonal latte. I but I like to stay classic with regular hot latte. 50% selves service that make the place a little bit messy but still at acceptable level. Overall is a nice and cute coffee shop.
google avatar

C C.

Yelp
Risk it for the biscuit. Delicious egg & sausage biscuit sandwich! (I got no cheese) Nice drip coffee as well. Not a ton of seating, but enough space to grab a quick bite and carry on with our day. Staff was busy but friendly.
google avatar

john j.

Yelp
Staff was friendly but the açai bowl was not appetizing at all. It was room temperature açai with some granola folded in. I ate the banana that was on top and then threw it in the trash.

Siena P.

Yelp
The ambiance is great, and so is the service but sadly the drinks were just okay. I got the Hojicha Latte and it tasted pretty watery and not very strong. We also tried the pistachio drink, which was good but both of them came out lukewarm. Overall just an ok place, I'd skip it.
google avatar

Ami Y.

Yelp
My friends and I decided to stop by this coffee shop after wandering around the neighborhood. I had the cream of pistachio (pistachio cream, caramelized honey, cocoa butter, espresso & oat milk). The pistachio flavor felt overpowering the first sip but it tasted better as I got used to it. The cafe space is simple yet charming, and it was nice that we got to pick some seats outside even though it was almost full inside. Barista seemed pretty chill. The drink was whopping $7, so I'll probably come here only when I'm in a hitch and/or when I'm with friends in the area.
google avatar

Leilani Q.

Yelp
A chill coffee shop with lots of seating. So much food to choose from, but just wanted to try the cold brew today! Cold Brew: pretty good chocolate notes and is not too bitter, a little acidic Cream of pistachio: have you ever tried pistachio cream?? This is it!! So tasty and very pistachio forward! Definitely recommend! I want to come back and try more drinks from their signature menu
google avatar

Brett B.

Yelp
Fulcrum is a pretty standard upscale coffee shop/roaster. They have a beautiful, minimal interior. Service was great, fast, and excellent attention to detail making the pour over. They offered three v60 options, I got the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (pretty safe option). It was good, fruity, but nothing special. I also bought bags of Kenya Kangiri and Ethiopian Guracho Natural. The Kangiri is good, it has that classic Kenyan profile, bright acidity, and lingering sweetness. It's not overwhelming, but it's good. The Guracho honestly was a miss, it's not very fruity for a natural, more winey. Overall, I think it's a good option for craft coffee, but their coffee doesn't quite meet the mark that some other roasters do.
google avatar

Lina Z.

Yelp
This cafe was a block down from my hotel and came here twice. Both times I got the black sesame latte and it was pretty good. My friends got some of their other signature drinks like the Hojicha and Bee pollen latte. They have unique house made syrups that I don't see at other coffee shops which is why we came back the second time! The chrysanthemum matcha is definitely something unique that people should try! Vibe was nice and the baristas were very welcoming. Would love to come back when I visit Seattle again:)
google avatar

April Eunice M.

Yelp
They have an interesting variety of Signature Coffees!! Guy said they make all their syrups in house. I tried the Honey Grahams and it was AMAZING. I wanted to try them all. Roomy space inside, and there is food available to eat, which I had seen looked really good.
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Good coffee. Team fam enjoyed pastries including chocolate croissant and breakfast biscuit.
google avatar

Itzel B.

Yelp
Coffee is pretty good here , if you like it sweet make sure you add sugar because sugar is not included , pastry's are okay
google avatar

Trewen W.

Yelp
Ideally want to give them a 3.5 Put of everything, their biscuits were amazing. If you come here you have to order one of their biscuit foods! Got the biscuit and lox and my friends got a biscuit bacon egg and cheese. Both were really great, the biscuits weren't dry and really made the it for the food experience We ordered the empanadas but, they were pretty unappetizing. It seemed more like smaller croissants. When we bit into it was just like a slab of cheese inside a croissant and not a real empanada. The sesame signature drink was pretty good. Rich sesame flavor but not much taste of the espresso. It was also really fragrant! The milk + honey was kind of like a lighter jasmine milk tea you get at boba shops, not really that special. The purple rain was really underwhelming. Not much ube flavor and it was more like a grainy matcha flavor. My friends who had the drink said quote "Texture tastes like dirt" Overall the trip was nice, great ambiance but majority of the food and drinks were a bit underwhelming
google avatar

Laura E.

Yelp
Delicious and relaxing place for breakfast! Interesting latte options and great tasting coffee. Loved the ambiance and were amazed how quickly food was served when the place was pretty full. We enjoyed the tomato biscuit, the oatmeal and a raspberry jam-filled croissant!
google avatar

Allison P.

Yelp
Our favorite coffee shop find in Seattle! You absolutely have to get the Cream of Pistacchio! One of the best lattes I've ever had. Hands down. Very creamy and feels like a warm hug. Perfect for those who aren't too big on strong coffee notes. Also opted for the Snuggle Me, Sesame due to its adorable name! It was a lot stronger than we expected! Wasn't the biggest fan of it. Couldn't really taste any black sesame notes. Honestly just tasted like a hot latte. The interior is very cute and minimal with windows allowing for lots of sun! Absolutely adorable.

Yelp
Review is for the Americano with Oat Milk cause I was impressed. Okay, so, despite having felt hungover from the previous night and having had little to no sleep, Fulcrum was where I got my second cup of coffee that morning. That's right. My mind and body were saying "no, Christine, you need to cut back on the liquids except water this morning," but another part of me was saying, "You ain't gonna make it without more caffeine." Thus, the decision was clear. And I did not regret it. I kinda regretted the Golden Granola Bowl though cause I don't know if it was a result of the hangover, but I felt nauseous trying to eat it. Idk. The combo of granola in a soupy tumeric-based liquid just was not really appetizing. I think it takes a getting used to. But as for the Americano, I can see why people mention places like Fulcrum and Anchorhead when talking about Seattle coffee. The coffee I had was one of the cleanest, lightest, not super bitter or acidic at all, and not watered down coffees that I have ever tried. I could tell it was carefully thought out and prepared. The service was also solid.
google avatar

Adrian A.

Yelp
A chill spot for a Sunday or to study I didn't have any of the breakfast here but I will say it looked top notch! Coffee was excellent. Great selection of beans and single origin! Service was good but they don't really call out your name when ready so my drink sat there for a while. Wish they would have told me
google avatar

Asher J.

Yelp
Reasonable oat masala chai, and decent cap breve. Not my absolute favorite, but it's a great place to have a meeting or a screening date.
google avatar

Christopher K.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my few visits to Fulcrum Café. It's a great combination of clean design, friendly staff, and good coffee that makes it a favorite to bring my computer for a few hours of work. It's not a huge space, but there's a good amount of seating plus a large bench in the middle. Their signature drinks are unique like their sesame latte but a simple iced americano usually does the trick for me.
