Ghee Wynwood doesn't live up to the original - Review - Miami - The Infatuation

"The original Ghee in Kendall has been Miami’s best Indian restaurant since it opened in 2017. So when this Wynwood location sprung up, we were grateful to once again have Ghee’s turmeric-marinated fish east of I-95. But the Ghee classics we fell in love with in Kendall aren’t executed at the same level here. photo credit: Ghee Wynwood The menu splits between tried-and-true Ghee curries, naan, and snacks, as well as new dishes exclusive to Wynwood, like mushroom momos and kebabs. Neither category reaches the level of excitement we’ve come to expect from this kitchen. That turmeric-marinated fish is a touch overcooked, the tuna bhel is light on the ruby red chunks of yellowfin it’s usually adorned with, and the new additions to the menu don’t taste destined to become Ghee classics themselves. Beyond the food, it’s tough to feel at ease in the dining room, something you’ll crave after thwacking through Wynwood to get here. The lighting’s too bright and the tables are pushed so close together that your butt may graze a neighbor’s naan as you shimmy out on the way to the bathroom. That’s not to say there’s no value in coming here. Even a woozy version of Ghee is still a fine pick for a casual dinner, and the $24 lunch special—which comes with a naan, salad, rice, curry, and dessert—is one of the city’s best deals. For now, daytime meals are the safest bet. The thinner crowds ensure the dining room is less claustrophobic and service runs smoothly, which isn't always the case during a busier weekend dinner. Food Rundown Backyard Pakora This dish is exclusive to the Wynwood location and a hopeful sign of potential. Taro from Ghee’s own farm gets rolled into a tight spiral, fried until crisp, and paired with a sweet date chutney you’ll use every molecule of. PlayMute video credit: Ryan Pfeffer Chili Paneer Ghee knows how to unload enough spice to make you sweat (see the ghost pepper naan below). So we expect more of a punch from a dish that starts with the word chili. Still, you’ll happily finish the small cubes of cheese, which taste better stuffed into the pakora. PlayMute video credit: Ryan Pfeffer Mushroom Momo This is another dish exclusive to this location. But don’t let the six, perfectly fine dumplings distract you from the more reliable favorites. PlayMute video credit: Ryan Pfeffer Ghost Pepper Cheddar Naan Here’s something that hasn’t changed: Ghee’s ghost pepper naan has hallucinogenic levels of spice. We mean that as a compliment. PlayMute video credit: Ryan Pfeffer Shrimp Tandoori Four shrimp. Good shrimp. But four shrimp. PlayMute video credit: Ryan Pfeffer Turmeric Marinated Fish This is always the entree to prioritize at Ghee. Even if it does arrive a touch overcooked, the coconut curry saves it. PlayMute video credit: Ryan Pfeffer Smoked Lamb Neck When we've eaten this dish at the original Ghee, the lamb is so soft it detaches from its bone with the gentlest little hummingbird nudge from a fork. But, here, ours took some serious sawing and hacking to get at the smoky lamb. PlayMute video credit: Ryan Pfeffer" - Ryan Pfeffer

One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to and it’s right here in Wynwood! The Happy Hour is fantastic, with half off select drinks, wines, and appetizers. The atmosphere is vibrant, with authentic decor and amazing art that make the space feel unique and fun. There’s plenty of comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, plus a great bar area. The food was truly among the best Indian cuisine I’ve ever had. If there’s one thing that could make the experience even better, it would be adding a few more vegan options to the menu. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Google
My new favorite Indian restaurant in Miami, by a wide margin! The food is all high quality and delicious. There are many creative dishes that you wouldn't normally expect in an Indian menu (the tacos? They're amazing!). And there are dishes that you usually want, but that are hard to find (dosa!). The service was also extremely good, and the setting is very nice. Highly recommended!

Customer service was top notch! Erika H was our waitress and she did a tremendous job! She gave us the best service possible and we had a great experience here at ghee. We came to enjoy their hospitality during the happy hour and we were very impressed! Lots and lots of food and drinks that we were very pleased with our choices. Highly recommended to come here for their happy hour! If you are not familiar with Indian cuisine then their happy hour is for you because you can taste a different type of dishes without breaking your wallet. Decoration is very good, this restaurant is well designed, spacious and the lighting is great! Noise is great for conversation.

This highly hype Indian restaurant on Instagram without of trying during our visit to Miami. The ambience was really good. We went during the lunch hour. It was almost empty just with guest and two or three tables. We called this place 7–8 times and no one answered and then finally after so many tries someone picked up the phone cause we wanted to make sure that this restaurant is open and and if we need to make a reservation because we were planning to eat here before heading to the airport. Anyways we went there. The lunch menu was pretty limited, but the server told us there are more options, which were obviously not on the menu, but she was telling us verbally. We ordered Dal Makhani, chana masala and palak paneer with Ghee naan and garlic naan. We also ordered one tamarin drink. The food was good, not great as it was a little different from the typical favors of all these dishes. I love the tables that had ivory design. Recommendation: I highly recommend this place if you’re in the Wynwood walls in Miami.

Here's a reworded review: We had a fantastic time enjoying the delicious food, lovely ambiance, and creative menu! visit during happy hour (5-7 pm) to sample their diverse range of dishes and craft cocktails. It's a must-try experience! The chef's attention to detail and commitment to authentic flavors truly shine through in every bite. Kudos to the team

Google
My friends and I had dinner here during Miami Spice and we all thought it was absolutely incredible! The restaurant is gorgeous and so vibrant and the food was delicious! The cocktails were very original (and tasted great) and the happy hour prices cannot be beat! I had the passion rum. Foodwise, I ended up trying the vegetable hakka noodles, samosa chaat, chicken tikka masala, mango tart, and sticky date cake. Everything was appropriately spiced (for this white girl at least) and immensely flavorful. I am looking forward to coming back to try some of the dishes on the main menu!

Google
I was excited to try this place as an avid Indian food eater and from an Indian family - but the dinner I had was mediocre and overrated. The happy hour appetizers (pani pouri & pakora) and drinks were great. For the main meal I ordered paneer jalfreezi. It came very soupy unlike jalfreezi should. I told the waitress and she understood what I was saying and I got a saag paneer instead. The naan looked like it was grilled and it was burnt so it did not taste good. It was hard to keep calling the waitress over. I was hoping for better given all the talk and rating about this place but I had a mediocre experience. Unless something were to change I don’t know if I would go back :(

Google
What an absolute hidden gem in Wynwood! I stopped by Ghee Indian Restaurant after work last Friday to check out their daily happy hour—and I was seriously impressed. First off, every single day happy hour? That alone makes this place worth visiting. But the real surprise was the quality of the food and drinks at unbeatable prices. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between casual and trendy, and the service was friendly and welcoming. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Ghee stands out by offering Indian cuisine in a neighborhood known more for art and cocktails than comfort food with depth. Wynwood is packed with places trying to be the next hot thing, but Ghee doesn’t need the hype—it just delivers. Whether you're a local or visiting Miami, this spot deserves to be on your radar. I’ll definitely be back.

Yelp
**Vegetarian Friendly** I was definitely surprised by the number of vegetarian options available in Wynwood, because the Dadeland location has less (similar but different menus!). Stunning interior (no outdoor seating available). Loved the colors, aesthetics, and ambiance of this place! The service was prompt, but could be slightly faster. The bummer was they forgot to bring out one of our dishes. We considered doing the Vegetarian Tasting Menu, but opted to do family-style which turned into our own Tasting Menu. Our Order: (1) Green Papaya Salad - delicious! Sweet, spicy, tangy, crunchy. Everything was blended so well together. (2) Crispy Broccoli - delicious! Spin on a traditional Gobi Manchurian, but liked the broccoli way more! Great flavor, crunchy, delicious. (3) Mushroom Momo - delicious! I'm not a fan of mushrooms, but this was delicious. The mushroom flavor is subtle. Be sure to order naan to soak up the extra sauce. (4) Backyard Pakora - delicious! Not your standard pakora dish, but is very similar to a Gujarati dish of pathra. (5) Chili Paneer - delicious! Great indo-chinese spread of flavors. (6) Yukon Dosa - delicious! Crunchy with a unique potato filling. (7) Cauliflower Kabob - SKIP!! This was not a kabob, but instead half a head of charred cauliflower. We were expecting a tandoor style cauliflower but not what came out! The lemon rice and kachumber served with it were delicious though. (8) Vegetable Kofta - delicious! Similar to malai kofta, but this was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. (This is not on the online menu) (9) Garlic Naan - kind of a disappointment compared to the rest of the food. The naan was on the side of a flatbread versus a traditional naan. (10) Ghost Pepper Cheddar Naan - this was spicy!!! So good though. But we'd appreciate a non-cheese option because it was too much cheese. (11) Chai Ice Cream Sandwiches - perfect way to end the meal with just a bite or two of dessert. The chai flavor ice cream was the prefect blend of flavors.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Clearly an upscale Indian restaurant. Pakora was my favorite thing we ordered. I love how crunchy it is and as a celiac really reminds me of those crunchy foods that I used to love but without the gluten. My favorite Indian dish is palak paneer however I felt like the restaurant fell short in taste for this item. My husband got the crab curry and he was not impressed with this either. What I did love was the rice pudding desert - so good! Our waiter was nice and understanding of the celiac thing. I could come back here but wouldn't be my first choice for delicious Indian food

Yelp
I went the night after their public opening and was very impressed with the food and service! I ate at the South Dade location years ago and had a decent enough experience, but felt that the food and ambience at this location was on another level. The stand outs were the mushroom momos (perfectly steamed and powerfully flavorful), ghost pepper cheddar paratha (spicy, but actually tolerable), and daal makhani (so buttery without being too heavy) which were all unanimously praised at the table. The soya kebab was flavorful and smoky with a tofu texture. The saag paneer was actually a bit spicy, but very fresh. The warm sticky date cake was a hit and the ice cream was very solid. Overall, I'm very grateful that we got our own Ghee up here in a beautiful space with incredible food that never bores.

Yelp
We are visiting Miami and we're looking for a hearty meal full of flavors. Ghee was the perfect choice! We ordered backyard pakora- crunchy outside and soft inside that was complemented by onion chutney, grilled papadum served with date chantey added more crunch and flavor to our meal. Kerry's lamb was fragrant but not overly spicy- just right for a dinner! The ambiance of deemed light, spice rack wall, and wall wide art added to the experience. Great place! Lots of #gluten free, dairy free and vegan choices.

Yelp
This place is beautiful in wynwood area. Loved the atmosphere and service. Best service in Miami. Being Indian and having this food was like eating from my mom's kitchen and then some!

Meg S.

Yelp
Beautiful ambience and well executed food. The mushroom momos are brilliant! They just melt in your mouth and must try. The daal makhani is good as well. We heard the date cake is delicious as well. Loved the mini oil lamp diyas on each table. It's a good choice for a special date night as well a big group. The service is good as well.

Yelp
I'd heard about Ghee for as long as I can remember, but rarely go further south than Coconut Grove. Luckily, Ghee opened up another location in Wynwood! The restaurant is bright, decorated with beautiful colors and cozy. My friends and I went today for lunch and showed up hungry. While looking at the drinks menu, I had a hard time deciding what I wanted and asked if they could possibly add vodka to the chai lemonade. The bartender happily obliged and the drink was exactly what I wanted. We then decided to order basically the entire snacks menu, including the GREEN PAPAYA SALAD, YELLOWFIN TUNA BHEL, MUSHROOM MOMO, SAMOSA CHAAT, and the CHILI PANEER. Although every last bite was amazing, my favorites were the yellowfin tuna bhel and the chili paneer. The flavors were so very fresh and delightful. We also ordered the SAAG PANNEER which was a hit at our table and for dessert we had the STICKY DATE CAKE. Everything was great and I will definitely be back (especially since no longer a schlep!

Yelp
A pre Valentine's Day extraordinary experience with not one, but two of my favorite people. Thank you to my Fiancé for a romantic dinner. I love trying new food with you. Also, Thank you to the best sever and friend a gal can ask for. Pedro is exceptional. He takes pride and passion into the menu, sharing every detail of the dishes and ingredients, as well as not only the history of the Chef, but the establishment as well. All the spices are imported from India and the protein and veggies are sourced from their local farm here in Miami. Pedro is personable and professional and made our experience even better than we imagined. The decor was absolutely beautiful and you are bound to have good luck with the large painting of elephants hanging over the dining room. The flavors and aromas of this devine Indian cuisine was worth every bite. Get the tasting menu with a total of 13 dishes, so you can taste a majority of the menu and all that it has to offer. Don't forget to ask for Pedro as your server. You won't be disappointed thanks P we love you !

Yelp
Overcooked and under seasoned Crab was very good Lamb was heavy overcooked and tasteless Dal was ok but under seasoned Naan is more like pita heavy and tasteless Maybe they are catering to people that don't like Indian food Are at ghee when he first opened after leaving Michael's and it was great This was the best hospital food I had in ten years And... beer at12 dollars really????

N F.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Naan hot and fresh. Tamarind juice is a must. Great staff, very attentive.
