The best barbecue restaurants in Denver - Eater Denver

"At this no-frills saloon in north Denver, the meat trays are generous, the drinks are strong, and there’s always a show or live music going on. Diners can choose from wood-fired barbecue dishes done in a variety of takes — smoked turkey or chopped brisket tacos, pulled pork sandwiches, loaded nachos, sampler plates, and meat by the pound. Tasty accompanying sides include a smoked cheddar mac and cheese, sweet citrus apple slaw, and a creamy herbed potato salad." - Rebecca Treon, Eater Staff, Nisa Sedaghat

Absolutely love this place. It is such an intimate setting in which to catch national and local acts. The sound quality is always spot on too (shout out to the soundboard engineers). Staff are super friendly as well. Getting there and parking are easier than most other venues in town. Next time I'll need to try the BBQ; it smells so good. 😋

This music venue is located off the beaten path. About 3 miles from McGregor Square. I recommend taking an Uber it's not that expensive. The hall offers a good selection of food. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. The bar was just big enough to eat and drink comfortably. The food was excellent. I have to say I was really impressed with the air-conditioned venue. The stage and lighting were excellent. The rear patio was also very nice. Great place to see live music 🎶.

Great neighborhood venue for live music. Interesting acts, nice bar and good food too. Seating inside and out, plenty of cocktails and beers on tap.

Great small venue! Their barbecue is top notch, too.. Highly recommend!

Google
Awesome place to see bands, intimate vibes and good sound. Good crowd.

Google
Globe hall is awesome! I keep finding myself looking for more shows to go to. They take the time and make sure that the people who perform are worth coming to see. All the shows I have seen here have been amazing! Perfect small venue!

Google
Great little music venue with epic bbq. Even though it's in a neighborhood, street parking is always pretty easy. Love the intimate small size. Nice that the bar area is separated from the venue side with a door so it's not noisy. Great back patio for sitting and drinking

Google
I can't say enough for how this place operates. Things always go smoothly, even with a packed music venue. Great sound, especially compared to other local venues toys size. And sooo friendly and welcoming, from the door to the bar to the food window. I'm impressed. Great outdoor areas for your bbq, too.

Yelp
So this casual little dining spot is tucked away in the Glowville neighborhood of Denver. It's got a phenomenal little rustic ambience with brick walls, a tin roof and a concert venue. The art is lively and inspiring. But the food is off the chain. My boyfriend and I came here for barbecue and concert. We also came during restaurant week. All the food we got was only $35 total for two people. The value is amazing here and the food is on par with Texas barbecue. The brisket is really the highlight. We were blown away by how tender it was and how the fat just literally melted in your mouth. Everything was seasoned so well. The pulled pork was very moist. The mac & cheese was so cheesy in flavor and I love the coleslaw. I think it's my new favorite in Denver. The fried okra, though is seasoned perfectly fried perfectly, and knocked my socks off. And the meat does not need sauce but the sauce on the table has a bright after spice and is destinkinglicious!!! The bar is a full bar, and they have several specialty cocktails to choose from. I got the Globe Spritz and it did the trick. I highly recommend this spot whether you're coming for a show or not. It's definitely a Denver treat. Come sit and eat or get it to go. You'll love it!

Yelp
Live music performances and their BBQ is absolutely amazing and will be coming back for the amazing experience and food! However 4/5 because they only had 1 bartender on a busy show night and the establishment here shouldn't be putting their bartender under this much stress! She was absolutely badass and killing it but like guys.... Put some more bartenders up there! Took forever to get drinks cause of it, faulting the establishment for it though... bartender was still great! Great place for chill vibes and friendly atmosphere!

Yelp
Caveat: If our original and final bartender wasn't so amazing, and if we hadn't been in town to see Ward Davis - who has played there before and we would like to play there again - this would be a "zero star" review. Parking was easy after we figured out where it was located. We arrived a little under an hour before doors were to open for a show with two openers and the headliner. Crowd was decent - not too big, not too small. Our bartender - Sydney? - was from North Carolina and she was outstanding in every way. Attentive, personable, friendly with all of the patrons. She chatted just enough, but not too much. Had great recommendations for everyone who asked. All we ordered for food was fries. They were good/hot/fast - but kinda hard to mess that up. We'd like to go back and try more food sometime. We live in Arizona and have a lot of similar venues here. Food/booze outside, bands inside another room. Colorado crowds are just better. Everyone listened to the music - even openers - without talking over them. No rowdy, shoving drunks. It was a cool vibe. To the lady bartender/venue manager/whoever you are who treated me like a drunk (I had soda and one cocktail) when I went out when Ward was on... you know who you are. You're worthless - and I hope they fire you.

Yelp
What a fabulous little music venue! Loved the intimate indoor venue space. I did not get a chance to try their bbq, but am looking forward to it next time! Street parking can get busy, so arrive early and enjoy good vibes on the back patio!

Yelp
Barbecue was delicious and a fun intimate concert venue. Really enjoyed our night out at Globe Hall!

Yelp
As soon as I set foot inside Globe Hall, I was a fan. I said to my buddy, "this reminds me of Lost Lake." Turns out they're owned by the same people who run Lost Lake and Larimer Lounge. Yes, I'm tooting my own observations skills! Let's set the record straight, Globe Hall is a live music venue with a BBQ-geared restaurant and cocktail bar. Not the other way around. And for a live music venue serving food, they do a bang up job. Get the tots. They serve them with ranch so you don't have to ask for it. Touché. The bar itself boasts a killer brick wall. Like Lost Lake, they have a surprisingly great bottle list. Or get a beer in a can. Choose your own adventure. They even have a nice selection of draft beers. In the adjoining room is the live music venue. Relative in size to Hi-Dive at first glance. Last Friday I saw the mighty Baroness and they sounded stellar. And if a band you've been listening to for years sounds like you want them to sound, you have to give credit to the room they're playing in. The weirdest thing about Globe Hall is that this is the first show I've seen here in the three years I've lived here. I've been to Ogden, Bluebird, Gothic, Hi-Dive, Larimer Lounge, you name it. But I'm curious why similar sized bands don't come through here specifically. Baroness was the first band I recognized on their calendar of events. If you can't tell, I'd welcome any band here at Globe Hall. It's great for more intimate shows between the 200-300 range. Next time, I'll see what the BBQ is all about!

Yelp
Food review only! Awesome, small BBQ joint! This place has a dive-y, hole-in-the-wall feel. We went here early on a Friday night for dinner around 5. It was not busy at all and we were able to park on the street right in front. There were a lot of workers there preparing for a busy night with a show. We ordered drinks and food from the bartender and he gave us a buzzer. When the buzzer went off we picked our food up at the kitchen window. Everything on the Classic BBQ platter was delicious! We were very impressed. We have a smoker and enjoy smoking our own meats so, we are a little picky. The pulled pork was excellent, the brisket was ok. The brisket did not have much seasoning or flavor. Also, we got a very marbled/fatty cut of the brisket. Some people like the fatty cuts but, I prefer the less marbled pieces. The brisket did have a nice bark and smoke ring on it though. All of the sides were great. The cole slaw and potato salad were both fresh, flavorful and not soggy or mushy at all! We will definitely return here again for more BBQ!

Yelp
Friendly little place with a nice drink selection and good sound on the venue half. Low key atmosphere provided perfect vibes for a Jade Bird show.

Yelp
What a great time here seeing Deep Sea Diver the other night! I had never been to this awesome venue in Denver's Globeville neighborhood. It's right off the highway but tucked in so well, you might miss it! In fact, no less than three groups outside all asked me if this was the right place. It's got a lot of charm inside and out. The bar and food area take up most of the front room, with ample seating and a warm, light atmosphere. Parking was on the street a few blocks down. The staff was all nice and checked our covid materials for the concert. There was another bar inside the theater, so don't feel like you have to order right away! The main concert hall is nice and pretty large, but still small enough to enjoy a very intimate setting. It's got all the feel of a dive bar, but puts out some great acts and top sound. Love the many lights and fog machine. Out back, there's a really cool patio and artist shed. Definitely feels like a real authentic dig, not some new establishment venue. I'll definitely be back soon, just for the food next!

Yelp
What I found cool about this place was the separation between the bar and the concert venue. We went to see the Brummies, and I could go to bar area to watch the Nuggets, or go through a door into the concert. Really cool vibe, and it reminds me of Moe's BBQ in Littleton. Great place to check out bands but also talk to your friends. Not much around the place, but hit up Blue Moon or River before if you need a pre-party, and the walk is fun. I really, really like this place and will check out their events schedule moving forward.

Yelp
This is a food review since it was the first time I had their BBQ - I've been to the venue multiple times and have always had a good time. I opted for the BBQ brisket tacos and my wife got the brisket sandwich with tots. I had a bite of her sando and it was very good with a nice toasted brioche bun. My 3 tacos were substantial, full of tasty smoked brisket in soft flour tortillas. Being from eastern NM, I am no stranger to eating bbq in a tortilla, so this reminded me a bit of home. Their sauce was slightly sweet with black peppery flavor that I enjoyed quite a bit. The salsa was take it or leave it for me and I wish the cheese would have been melted, but the bbq meat/sauce was the star of the show anyway. If it was a bit warmer we would have taken our food out to the roomy back patio - the bar area is quite small. Overall, it was nice getting to the venue a bit early and having some quality bbq and a cold one.

Yelp
This is a great little music venue. The BBQ is great and it was easy to make a same-day reservation online to grab some grub before the show. I didn't love the jackfruit tacos, but the pulled pork and chicken were great. The venue is small and standing room only. Wear your comfy shoes. And, it is a flat floor. So, if you are short, you'll want to get in when doors open to get a good spot to see the stage. I found myself behind tall folks and had to tip toe to see Donny Benet. But, lesson learned for next time. They have two bars, one inside the venue and one in the lobby/restaurant area. Full bar, decent taps and several tall boys of both beer and seltzer. Tickets are cheap. Parking is challenging. Give yourself extra time to hunt for parking or Uber.

Yelp
The white cheddar Mac and cheese is really good. Next time I need to have a bigger appetite so I can try the brisket. Staff are friendly and helpful. Make sure you have a valid id in case you plan on drinking booze.

Yelp
I've been to the Globe twice now, and had a great time each time. I love the ambiance in the bar area, which has an updated feel to it and doubles as a BBQ joint. It's on the small side but doesn't usually get uncomfortable. I've watched 2 live shows now, and the sound quality for the room is impressive. Had a great time! My only regret was not trying the BBQ yet, which is normally high on my list to do. Cheers!

Yelp
Globe Hall has a really intimate setting and it was very enjoyable! I appreciate that you can get food and drinks and then watch shows because I'm always thirsty/hungry at concerts. The chicken tenders were actually pleasingly spicy and the tots were better than the average tot!! They have a wide array of drinks and I like that there is seating.

Yelp
Great BBQ and a even cooler venue/stage area! Highly recommend catching a show here and the brisket!

Yelp
The skinny: Okay bbq in a small concert venue. Atmosphere: Unassuming spot in kinda an off the beaten path neighborhood. Order at the bar, seat yourself. A few long tables and bar seating. Went before a concert and it was starting to get a bit busy. You have to go into the restaurant to go to the concert venue, so it can get a bit packed if people are waiting to get in. Not really as 'hole in the wall' that other people have mentioned - I thought it was a decent spot. Concert venue is nothing special and small but made for a nice intimate setting. Food: Had the brisket and a side of potato salad. The brisket lacked a bit of flavor, parts of it were juicy but parts of it seemed a bit dry. The bbq sauce is pretty good which gives it a bit more flavor. A bit disappointed by the potato salad, its pretty soupy - but to be fair they do call it creamy potato salad. Overall, expected more given the great reviews but left feeling underwhelmed. Think there are better bbq spots in denver but not a terrible spot for some food before a concert. Service: Food came extremely fast Price/value: $$ you can control your own portions and order by the quarter pound for meats. Sides are $3 each. Would I come back: Probably not with much better places for BBQ. Maybe for a beer before a concert in the venue but wouldn't go out of my way.

Yelp
Perhaps the true taste test of good food is during a pandemic. There's no interference from the atmosphere, or the music or even the location. We judge the food because we pick it up, take it home, eat it. A friend recommended Globe Hall for good bbq. So glad she did. We picked up yummy cole slaw, delicious potato salad, and... great bbq chicken! We will be back. Looking forward to the time when we can stay and eat.
google avatar

Yelp
Great cute neighborhood bar/bbcue, and live music venue. Haven't had all the various bbcue food, but what I did was very good. The fried chicken sammie was delicious. Same for Cole slaw and tater tots. We'll made cocktails too and the staff was very friendly!
google avatar

Troy K.

Yelp
Ok so the BBQ was ok. Don't even compare it to Texas though. No real smoke ring and it don't have that char at all. AThe brisket was tender but I found the pork a little dry. The potato salad was very soupy but had a good flavor. As the concert portion well it sounds ok but apparently the owner doesn't understand it's a weekday and everyone doesn't want to wait till midnight to see the headliner. I feel it's a ploy to get people to buy more alcohol while they all wait for the band forever. Keep that in mind. Doors 830 band 11:15. Total bs on a weeknight. Staff was good and so we're drinks. Timing was just off

Yelp
I lived near Globe Hall when it opened but never ventured in, thinking I'd need show tickets to eat or drink there. Finally committed to seeing a show, and now I understand how it works. There's a bar area that reminds me of an old VFW hangout, complete with wood paneling. The drinks are fancier than the bars where my grandpa hung out, though. My husband LOVED his spicy margarita. We also ordered some barbecue from the bartender and picked it up at the kitchen window. They were out of brisket, but I'll be back to try it. My chicken was good, but the pork was excellent. I like their sauces--one was vinegar-y and not too sweet. After eating we headed into the small concert hall (capacity 188) to see a band that I'd never seen before a crowd of fewer than a few thousand people. There were some serious issues with the sound, some of which were resolved. In the end I had a great time since it was a great band that puts on a terrific show no matter what the challenges. I'll definitely be back for dinner again. If a band I really love books the venue, I'd consider taking a chance on the sound system again.
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
Ordered the Mac and cheese and it was atrocious. There's almost literally no flavor. And why does the chef put paprika on it? It's not even on the menu. Doors opened at 6pm for the show and the headliner's not coming on until 10pm. It's like they're desperate to sell you their substandard food. I paid for $4.75 for this.
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
Can't say much about the experience here, as I only came during the day for food, not for music. We got the two entree BBQ platter. Food was bland, and it was pretty pricey for how little we got. We couldnt even finish it because it wasnt very good. We took some serving trays to put our utensils and bread/butter on. After we took the trays, and had been eating off them, the waitress told us they were all dirty. Not sure why dirty trays were set out and stacked as if they were clean for people to grab. Won't be coming back here for the food. Might give it another shot for a concert.

Yelp
I'm conflicted. It was WAY more of a dive than I thought it was going to be, but it was also a relatively fun dive. It's got a bit of a roadhouse feel, but it's also ACTUALLY dirty and disheveled. Now is where I have to confront the fact that maybe I don't like Dive Bars, I just like bars that pretend very, very hard to be Dive Bars. Is this what it feels like dating a Hipster? Anywho, the BBQ is solid, but not amazing. The ribs were a bit dry, and a touch not-quite-hot-enough, but the brisket was actually superb with a ton of flavor and was nice and moist. I wasn't a huge fan of their sauces, but that's personal taste - they were great, just not exactly my style. They also serve trashy white bread with their BBQ so that's big bonus points. Drink selection seemed entirely appropriate for the type of place this is, and while I was visiting with my Denver Passport and only tried cocktails, I was very pleased with what I got. Huge props to the servers, they were fun and friendly and attentive and fast. Great folks without a doubt. In the end, if someone asks to go back, I'd go with them. But I'm not entirely sure I'm going to seek it out. I definitely recommend going here just to give it a shot, but I'm not entirely sure it's my kind of place. They do have a music venue attached, and there was a Steely Dan cover band performing the night I went, but they didn't start until after I'd left. I can't comment much on the venue itself. All in All it gets like a C+ to a B- from me.
google avatar

Joyce P.

Yelp
Best freaking ribs. Fall of the bone, excellent flavor and amazing brisket. The owner Jeff is super cool and came out and talk to out and talked to us! Great place, down home simple and neat. We can't wait to come back up from the springs!
google avatar

Bobbie B.

Yelp
Update: Went to a show last night and the turkey sandwich was virtually inedible. Burnt ends apply to brisket, not turkey, and the only flavor was salt. The replacement turkey was just as bad. Ended up throwing it away. Seemed understaffed for an early sold out show night and chaotic knowing going to be busy. Taking it down a star-notch. Love the room, love the staff, love the patio, love the que, love the drink selection and prices. BUT...they need to get some ventilation or undersell shows because the room is borderline dangerously hot and it's only April.
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
If you want quaint, off the beaten path bars with delicious food -- get ready to gobble up the TURKEY! The waitress we had is super nice & entire place is friendly. Living it up in Denver? Yeah, come check out Globe Hall -- in RiNo. Where the cool kids go.
google avatar

Miya J.

Yelp
Saw a show last night. It was decribe the Globe Hall as a Small dive bar. Howeber, the bartender made a killer spicy mezcal margarita! I'm looking forward to going back to try the BBQ and for another margarita. The men's bathroom located inside on the concert room was kinda sketchy but other than that all was well.
google avatar

Yelp
Awful Venue, small and way too uptight would not come here. Over priced drinks, terrible food as well as bouncers that are looking for the smallest thing to get you in trouble. Would go to slightly bigger venue to see the acts that play here in order to get respectable treatment as well as good service

Samantha D.

Yelp
One of my favorite low key music venues in Denver. It's oh so slightly off the beaten path in Globeville. The vibe is welcoming yet pleasantly grungy. The drinks are well priced and the scene is great. I've been craving live music the most since Covid. We reserved a table for two and had a Covid friendly and rocking out night! *disclaimer, I have not tried their bbq (yet!)*

Yelp
I've had takeout twice from Globe Hall now, and I really want to love this place-- the roadhousey atmosphere is great, for starters. And some of the food is very good, too! E.g.: the ribs were pretty excellent both times, with a good rub, smoked well. The brisket is okay (last time it was a little oversmoked & on the tough side, but serviceable with the sauce). But-- I feel like the fattest fat American writing this-- it's hard to enjoy what they've got when they give you so little of it. I had the 2 meat combo: two meats and a side of beans. In the photo, you'll see 2 ribs and one thick piece of brisket, with the beans and condiments (so many pickles! like, just, handfuls of them! for some reason!). All this was $16, which seemed close to twice as much as it should have been. (I would have gladly forgone like 90% of the pickles for another rib.) In the end, getting home and opening the takeout box, well, it felt like opening your Christmas bonus envelope and finding a Jamba Juice coupon. Impossible not to be disappointed.

Yelp
Looks like a dive. Smells like a dive. But it's just a shit-hole. They should use the cash made from their overpriced drinks to renovate this dump and get some air-conditioning or proper ventilation at the very least. Super annoying small bathrooms and long waits for use. This place calls itself a "Texas Style" BBQ joint. Child please. Sure, they have a smoker, but they ain't using it right! Thought $12 for a PBR and a brisket sandwich would be an okay deal. WRONG. When you get some tough, chewy, lame brisket sandwich in a dry, un-toasted brioche bun, you're going to need to smother it in BBQ sauce. Cold, thin sauce that tastes like Taco Bell Hot Sauce. Very limited menu and sides. No thanks. I wish I had stopped at McD's before the show. Good thing Globe Hall doesn't put on many good shows, as I'm happy to avoid this place.
google avatar

Cassie M.

Yelp
If you know good BBQ, you know this is reeeeally bad BBQ. The staff is also SUPER rude! Don't waste your money; go elsewhere for your live music and BBQ
google avatar

Ryan P.

Yelp
Globe Hall is a great 'hole in the wall' dive bar with absolutely AMAZING BBQ. If you like your Texas Style BBQ (Brisket, Links, Turkey, Ribs) this is THE place to go. Denver, as you may know, is not a BBQ Capital of anywhere, so I was extremely happy to stumble upon Globe Hall via www.eater.com If you're looking for great food, check it out.
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
Cool, divey place with a super-easy and mellow music venue. Servers were all super-friendly. Barbecue was pretty good though they could use some work on their sauces. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
This place is the best! Flew into Denver late one night and needed some fuel for the drive to the mountains. Rocked up to Globe Hall about a quarter to 11 in the hopes that they'd still be serving and even though they had just about closed up the kitchen for the night, they gladly served me. In fact, the service was just as great as the food - exceptional! The lovely woman who served me went above and beyond to take care of me. Had limited options left, but everything I had was fantastic. Seriously some of the best ribs I've ever had - fall off the bone tender, great dry rub, all around delicious. Also had some brisket, which was also excellent. Loved the potato salad as well, and appreciated the optional white bread, onions, pickles and jalapeños. I noticed at least one review noted a lack of sauce - this was not the case when I visited, as I was given two different sauces with my meal - spicy and regular, both of which were very tasty. The owner happened to be there, and had a very nice chat with him, he showed me the great music space next door. Overall, loved the ambience and everything about this place. Highly, highly recommend it!
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
Very disappointed. Articles in Eater Denver had me pumped up. Not recommended, at least for food AND drink. Might be good for music AND drinks, but that is past my bedtime. It's all about the plaid, beards (on males) and tattoos. Hipsters are everywhere, even in Globeville. And, speaking of Globeville, I really like visiting this part of town. It feels intimate along 45th Avenue. + Good for kids. In the back room, not in the bar area. + Good price on PBR draft. + Warm temperature on a cold evening. + Friendly and efficient bartendress. 0 Side of potato salad was OK. - Bland pulled pork with too much fat left in it. No flavor. No sauces available. I had to go the kitchen and ask for salt & pepper. They have one large box of each. - Crappy plastic flatware. This ain't Taco Bell, people. - Paper towels for napkins. - No Wi-Fi. - Side of cole slaw tasted like store-bought nothingness and was over priced at $3. - You order and pay for food and drinks separately. Annoying. - Only 1 wine. A low end red. A skimpy pour for $5.

Yelp
Heard really good things about Globe Hall and love that there's a place where you can get BBQ and hear live music. So we gave it a shot one Saturday afternoon just for the BBQ. Was surprised when we ordered the brisket that it only came chopped. That's not Central Texas Style. We asked for sliced but said the brisket was already all chopped up. I imagine before it got chopped it would have been fairly good brisket. You could see a nice smoke ring. But the small pile we were served was dry and tough. The pulled pork as stated in other reviews needed more flavor. The sausage was the best part. Will definitely be back for ribs (sold out that day) and to try and convince them to serve up some sliced brisket like they do in Central Texas.
google avatar

Tracie B.

Yelp
In my opinion, this place does not live up to the hype. It's basically a loud, yet comfortable bar with a few tables on one side and a big open space with long banquet tables for families on the other side. You order and pay for your food separately and you food is served on a giant tray with butcher paper, plastic flatware and paper napkins. So you kind of eat picnic style. I don't have a problem with the paper, flatware etc., my problem was with the food. Our pulled pork was just okay, under seasoned and blah. They don't give you any sauces because they use a dry rub to season the meat - but I didn't taste any of the rub. Also, there was quite a lot of fat that had not be rendered. It wasn't "bad" it just wasn't "five star" great. I've had much better pig elsewhere. The sides are nothing special. Three bucks for a small side of potato salad that tasted like it came from the grocery store and an additional three bucks for a side (about a half cup) of overly sweet, watery cole slaw. They leave sliced white bread out but it tasted a bit like regular sandwich bread - nothing special. No salt or pepper shakers. Service is very friendly. I wouldn't think of calling out the other reviewers who think this place is the best thing since BBQ was invented. Perhaps I should have tried the brisket, which others are raving about, but I think that the pork should be just as good. Everyone has their own opinion. It's great that they had such and good experience and loved the food. But, based on my experience however I can't honestly recommend Globe Hall.

Yelp
This is a fantastic dive joint, and a wonderful education of Texas BBQ. The smokers and cooks are happy to tell you about their techniques and backgrounds. The brisket is the best in Colorado, bar none. If your an Ex-Texan this is your spot.

Yelp
The most moist brisket I have ever had. And I am not normally a brisket fan. The ribs were the most moist and succulent ribs I have ever eaten. The bark is absolutely fantastic tasting. No sauce needed. An unlikely place for delicious bbq. Give it a try.

Yelp
Love bbq and live music? I like that this concert hall is tucked off the beaten path, has an extensive back patio and a friendly and accommodating staff... as well as pleasantly dark atmosphere. My friends and I had a wonderful experience there last week. The sound system is amazing and makes this place stand apart from the rest of the mid-sized venues in Denver.

Yelp
I'm a bbq fan, not a Texas bbq fan, not a Bama bbq fan, not a KC bbq fan, but a bbq fan. That said I do have preferences for certain 'kinds' of bbq. Having only been to TX a couple times I've always thought that TX bbq was more like Dickies or Bennetts here in Denver. Globe Hall has changed my view on that. There meat is moist and attention is paid to the nuances in flavor and texture that make up the difference between good bbq and great bbq. Bark, smoke, spice, sauce, it's all good. One thing that really stood out for me was the brisket. As an amateur bbq-er I know how hard it is to get a fork tender brisket and the pit master at Globe Hall has nailed it. Do yourself a favor and give it a shot. Oh did I forget to mention affordable drinks, live music and community tables?

Yelp
This was my first meal in Denver ever - all you need to know is brisket. I've from the South and I have spent my entire adult life searching for fantastic BBQ. My favorite brisket is Fette Sau in Brooklyn that is very famous for it's BBQ. This? Better. I couldn't believe it. That brisket deserves all my stars. I could eat my weight in it. Other highlights: entire table loved the smoked turkey (I HATE turkey and really enjoyed a slice), the jalapeno cheddar sausage and other diners also raved over the ribs (I only had a tiny bite and they were excellent). But seriously. The brisket. I also enjoyed the ranch style beans. I'd never had that style before. Deeply savory and rich. No sweetness. Name fits them perfectly. The potato salad was also really good. My friend felt it needed more salt but I actually enjoyed it as is. More german style. Lovely potato flavor without being overwhelmed by mayo. Big fan of the condiment bar with pickles and onions to add just enough tart to all that savory meat. Thanks, Globe Hall! My first meal in Denver set me up for a weekend of great food!!

Yelp
Caught a concert and had the BBQ beforehand... Both were awesome! The Brisket was the best I've had in years. Super moist and a great smokey flavor. The pulled pork, ribs, cole slaw and potato salad were all well above average. Pretty divey place- but those tend to be my favorites. Jeffrey Foucault played in the attached Concert venue/ dining room. It was small, maybe 200 standing room, but that made it all better. A solo acoustic song without a microphone got the entire room silent, what a moment!

Yelp
First time in and quite excited about it. Spent a lot of time looking over their menu and planning on having dinner before seeing a late show. Unbelievably, they were sold out of anything except ribs...This with two hours until the doors opened for the show. The bartender was friendly and frank about it but I simply cannot give a good review to any place calling itself a BBQ joint that isn't capable of prepping for a full night of service. My fiancé was more willing to accept this and did report that her drink was well made, and oversized, while the ribs were tasty. Too bad I will never know, because after waiting all day to eat here once I will never give them another chance.

Yelp
Went in on a Saturday around 2 in the afternoon. Was dead and absolutely delightful. Our bartender gave us a tour of the place and had the kitchen make us a selection of the House specialties. The tacos were excellent! I just found my favorite dive bar of all time.

Yelp
Cool ambiance and great dive bar. Friendly staff. Their Website cannot be trusted. We came expected certain foot and it said the music started at 8. We showed up at 7 to just a couple other people in the place. Band started warming up at 815 and then disappeared. Asked around and were told they don't go on until 9 and that is normal. Nothing about that on the website. Food is good but as a Texas boy I expect a decent plate of meat for 17 bucks. Instead, just two slices of brisket, a link, and a small portion of pork. Also just one side. Disappointed since the brisket had a great crust, but won't go back.

Yelp
A group of friends and I recently had a milestone birthday celebration with family and friends at The Globe Hall. The whole experience from my first inquiring phone call to picking up last items was incredibly positive. The barbecue menu is simple, not overwhelming. Most of the meats are local, hormone- and antibiotic-free, and smoked to perfection. I love that the meats are not doused in sauce, but the option is available if wanted. My favorite side is the non-creamy coleslaw made with apple cider vinegar, fresh and light. Located in historic Globeville, "The Hall" was easy for our guests to find, with plenty of parking next to the building and on the street. The back patio, with tables, chairs, corn-hole, and smoker was a great place for our guests to hangout, eat, drink, and relax as the sun went down. We loved the "dive bar" feel, with the hall next door for live music and dancing. Prices are reasonable, too. The owner and staff are the best part. I can't express how amazing they have been. Having worked in the service industry, I know how important customer service is, but they take it a step further. Communication was open, honest, and timely. Any questions we had while planning, were answered within a day or two. Jeff, Faith, and staff have been welcoming, accommodating, helpful, and flexible every step of the way. They even followed up with us after the party. If you enjoy a non-pretentious, relaxed atmosphere, BBQ, a beer, or are in the area, make your way to The Globe Hall for some amazing ribs, live music, or a cold one. They will not disappoint.
