The 11 Best Bakeries In Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Gluten-free bakeries are in high demand around here—just ask the people in line at Gluten Free Goose in Lenox Village on a Thursday morning. This place is only open three days a week for six hours a day, but they’re making good use of that time, cranking out cupcakes with perfect Magnolia Cafe-like dollops of frosting and oatmeal cream pies as large as your fist (or some of the children’s heads that are staring into the case). The best thing in there is the brown sugar pop tart that could tell Kellogg’s to kick rocks, with a perfect not-too-flaky copycat crust, gooey brown sugar and cinnamon filling, and light crackly frosting. There’s one lonely table inside, so plan on eating that bad boy in the car. You won’t be able to let it stare at you from the passenger seat all the way home." - ann walczak, bailey freeman

Nashville’s Best Restaurants for Passover | Eater Nashville

"It’s not unusual to find several sold-out items by the time you reach this South Nashville bakery. Owner Amy Decker Cornell was left unsatisfied with the gluten-free baked goods situation in Music City, so she hired bakers pastry chefs Eun Young (Jubi) Lee and Caitlyn Rau to churn out a variety of gluten-free pastries, but of note for Passover is their colossal coconut macaroons drizzled with a healthy dose of chocolate." - Kellie Walton

These guys are the best!! Not only are all the bakery items delicious (a rare find in the gluten free world), they go above and beyond. I wanted raspberry filled donuts but could not get them on Saturday. I contacted them and let them know my dilemma. Voila! I got 6 on Friday early. I really appreciate the effort to help me. I highly recommend for both the quality and taste of their baked goods and stellar customer service! In addition, they are just nice people.

Google
Absolutely delicious!! We visited last weekend, close to closing, and the owner(s) could not have been more kind and helpful. The eclairs alone are worth stopping for (my gluten eating husband was solidly impressed). The oatmeal cream pie, cinnamon roll and doughnut we're all amazing. Yes, we stocked up, because we don't live nearby :). (maybe that's a good thing ;)

Google
Kind of glad they have such limited store hours - I would be there far too often. Love the outdoor seating. Ongoing construction traffic is a challenge but hopefully is completed soon. Hands down, orange cranberry scones reheated (10 seconds in the microwave) the next day are perfection! I always buy with a few days of breakfast meals planned and have never been disappointed. Appreciate their attentiveness when packaging my purchases - usually have several hours driving after a visit.

Google
Incredible!!!!! I live in the nyc area, and have been to gf bakeries all over the US and beyond - this is by far the best gluten free bakery in the US. NYC bakeries can’t even compete with what’s offered here. If I could give 10 stars I would, this bakery gets everything right. FYI the Milano cookies are better than the original, and the brioche donuts are the best I’ve had even compared to donuts with gluten. Mind blown. Also it’s much more affordable than most gf bakeries and the staff are so sweet. You’ve got to come here and ignore anyone who tells you not to !!!!

Drove an hour!! Got there right before they closed!! Delicious!! Loved the apple fritter and the pumpkin roll delicious. Friendly staff

Google
I had the best experience! I am new to food allergies (as my daughter has multiple allergies). I ordered a birthday cake and needed some of the ingredients changed 24 hrs before pick up. When I called Amy was so awesome- she figured out a way to get it done which meant starting over and making a new cake. She got it done and saved her birthday! Thanks for being so nice and making it happen.

Google
I've had celiac for 15 years and am always hesitant to go to gf bakeries because they tend to be a disappointment, but Gluten Free Goose is absolutely the exception. The breakfast sandwich is unreal. I haven't had a light fluffy biscuit since I was diagnosed and I almost cried when I tried theirs. Everything I ordered was fabulous in fact and not overpriced. I will 100% be back.

Google
Gluten Free Goose is a dream for anyone with celiac — everything is 100% safe and so delicious! Their cakes, crullers, and pumpkin muffins are my absolute favorites, and I never have to worry about cross-contamination. Amy, the owner, is not only kind and welcoming but also one of the most generous people in our community. You can feel the heart she pours into both her food and the people around her. Truly a treasure!

Yelp
As someone with celiac, Gluten Free Goose is a godsend! Everything they make quickly becomes "the best thing I've ever eaten".... Until I try the next thing. You absolutely must try the French crueler! Even before I knew I had celiac, I can't recall ever having a donut this delicious. As you can see - I have purchased quite a few. The staff is all very friendly. Make sure you check out their Instagram for what they are making that day. They also post when they sell out! (Not pictured, but their gluten free soft pretzels are also divine! One of my most missed foods) Worth every penny. Worth the drive if you live in Nashville proper.

Yelp
I can't believe it took me almost two years to make my way over to GFG. Everything is gluten free here. Paradise. I was able to get gluten free things I can't find anywhere else and everything ended up being so good and lasted a few days as I sampled everything. The pop tart brought my nostalgia levels way up and was tasty. The brown sugar cinnamon flavor was chef's kiss. A yeasted, fried doughnut that is gluten free? The cruller lived up to the hype. I was impressed. The biscuit was so light and fluffy I couldn't believe it. Made a breakfast sandwich the next day. The baguette?! I used it several ways and it was nice to be able to just grab one and use it for multiple things. Abigail at the counter provided great service. I'll be back!

Yelp
Went to the gluten free goose pop up at Nu Yoga and got the cinnamon roll and brown sugar pop tart. The cinnamon roll was delicious and had the best frosting, the brown sugar pop tart was a fantastic surprise because I didn't know what to expect and genuinely thought it was better than a regular pop tart. The food truck owner was so kind and heated both up for us. Can't wait to visit their full store soon

Yelp
After a long wait, since they were blessed with a summer break, we came back to some stunning new delicious items and flavors! We definitely had to try some such as the Orange Almond Muffin, Lemon Raspberry White Chocolate Scone, & the Strawberry Lemon Cookie. We got the Blueberry Muffin as well, an OG item. We devoured and gobbled down each item as they were full of flavor. Shoutout to Jesse & Krista for the hospitality and the knowledge they have about the goods. They are always helpful and super friendly!

Yelp
Let me begin by saying that I've lived under the assumption that in order for food to be really tasty, something with a mother was going to have to be processed. Or, outside of that, it's going to need to have gluten to stick it together and make it taste good. I tried not to think about it. I love animals and I'm not thrilled to be consuming their byproducts. But until today, I had yet to experience anything vegan or gluten-free that challenged my very hard-line belief that food can either taste good or be good. Which beings me to today. I found myself in Tennessee and happened upon this bakery in Nashville. My better half assured me that my picky sensibilities and health-avoidant self-destructive dining habits would not be able to tell these were treats designed to fit the need of the health conscious consumer who actually cared about what goes into their bodies. Sure. I've heard that before. Still, I love her and rolled with it. She tends to be right about a lot. So I ordered a vegan gluten free brownie. I took a bite. This was not an okay brownie. It was a very good brownie. As in, this is a excellent brownie, period. Not a good vegan brownie, but an OUTSTANDING brownie that just happens to be vegan. On to more of the gluten-free offerings, while not vegan, I'm guessing are made with the same level of care as the miracle brownie. The rest of our party snacked on Pop-Tart style pasties, which I was assured tasted superior to whatever Kellogg is extruding on their factory line. We tried scones and cupcakes that also made their gluten-based counterparts look silly in comparison. I know there are people who have a good reason to seek out gluten-free food, and this bakery must be a boon for them. But what I'm saying is this ... this is excellent food and the fact that it's gluten-free is just makes it all the more surprising. The bakery was also immaculately clean and the staff was super friendly. It's clear that a lot of love and pride has been put into everything. We will definitely return whenever we are in Nashville.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I LOVEEEE this bakery!! We found out my boy friend has celiac about 2 years ago which means he can't eat gluten. During our search for places we could eat we found this bakery and it is literally one of our favorite places to come. My boyfriend specifically loves their chocolate chips cookies and pop tarts. I'm not gluten free but their breakfast biscuits are to die for!!! We use to live about 20 minutes from the bakery but recently moved more into the city so now it is about a 30-35 minute drive. Despite this we STILL make the drive out every now and then to load up on treats. The pic added to this is our half eaten breakfast biscuit and pop tart. So good!!

Yelp
Fantastic gluten-free bakery with delicious sweet treats! My wife can't tolerate gluten, but I can eat anything at all, so I can give you both perspectives when it comes to Gluten Free Goose. For those who are celiac or otherwise can't tolerate gluten, Gluten Free Goose is an absolutely amazing five-star experience. Everything they make is gluten-free, and they also have some vegan options. And what makes it even better is that their baked goods are excellent. For those like me who can pretty much eat anything, Gluten Free Goose is still a great bakery, which I would probably give four stars to when being compared to conventional bakeries that don't offer gluten-free options. The staff, by the way, was super friendly and helpful. They were able to answer all our questions about their baked goods, and were enthusiastic to share their wonderful products. The highlight was absolutely their Cream Puffs. They were flaky and perfect and overflowing with sweet and delicious cream. Not only would you never know these were gluten-free, but they were among the best cream puffs we'd ever had. The Cupcake, which resembles the famous Hostess CupCakes was also excellent. The cupcake portion was incredibly good, and again I would have never guessed it was gluten-free. The cream filling was also amazing. The cupcake is topped with a chocolate mouse which in turn is covered with the chocolate frosting with a white spiral of frosting. My wife felt that she would have preferred more cake and left out the mouse, but I felt that it turned a cupcake into more of a decadent dessert experience. They do, however, offer a variety of more "traditional" cupcakes in a variety of flavors. The Cinnamon Roll was very good. Again I would have never guessed that it was gluten-free, and it was very good. Not the best cinnamon roll I've ever had, but I did very much enjoy it. I do recommend heating it up so the frosting gets extra melty and gooey on the cinnamon roll. They can do this at the shop if you will be eating there. I also had a Raspberry Lemon Scone, which was also very good. Again, not the absolute best scone I've had, but I would never have guessed it was gluten-free. Gluten Free Goose has clearly perfected gluten-free baking. Quite often when baked goods are modified to be gluten-free, they don't come out quite right. Sometimes because of the flour used as a substitution the texture will get a little gritty. Other times the density is wrong, often being too dense rather than fluffy. Those issues are not a factor at Gluten Free Goose. Trust me, I love my baked goods, and I can eat gluten. But I've also sampled many of the gluten-free options my wife has tried. Gluten Free Goose has some of the best gluten-free baked goods I've ever had. They also have a really cute shop, with some tables so you can eat there if you'd like. But be sure to get some extras to take home with you too!

Yelp
Gluten Free Goose is our favorite treat spot in town. It's such a rare delight that my family can enjoy all the baked treats anywhere. We love the pop tarts, cinnamon rolls and scones. Oh! And the biscuits. So yum. Great place to stop if you're gluten free or love someone that is!

John G.

Yelp
Was visiting from out of town and wanted so much to like anywhere that is gluten free. This place was bottom on my list of GF bakeries and the owner thinks she is someone special and is arrogant to boot. Don't let her phoniness fool you. I got gluten symptoms after eating there, (which can happen with low ppm in the air - raw materials may have been contaminated or someone brought other products into the store.). As for the owner shirking responsibility and calling me a "troll" as she did in the comments, what a poor reflection that her only response to for customers is to get defensive. Didn't even care to investigate why someone got sick from her expensive, tasteless products. She's clearly more interested in her cash register than her customer's health. What a loser and a disgrace to small business owners who work hard every day.

Yelp
This bakery blew me away! Not only was the selection huge, the presentation was amazing, but the quality was incredible! My husband and I tried a few items just to make sure we had enough variety to taste. We got the chicken biscuit, the Nutella poptart, the lemon poppyseed loaf, and the donut (that had another name). All of the items were absolutely fabulous and you would never have guessed they were gluten free. The location is not right off the interstate, but well worth the drive out of the way! I cannot wait to return and try something else!

Yelp
First of all, the customer service is off the charts amazing, but even that does not compare to how good the food is. We ended up with close to everything and I can recommend that enough. Each bite got better than the last! So gorged ourselves until we were full and had more leftover for breakfast the next day! All of your dreams will come true with each visit! 10/10

Yelp
Arguably the best biscuit, gf or otherwise, I have ever eaten. This place is legit and the owner knows the ins and outs of GF baking. Also ordered the oatmeal cream pie and it was amazing. I recommend the carrot cake, as well. The cinnamon rolls seem to be a hit, so I will need to try them later. Up the road from the 7-11 on Nolensville road.

Yelp
A must stop if you are in Nashville and need gluten free goodies! The line was about 5 people deep when we arrived at 8:15am. We went for the pop tarts but the lady in front of us bought them out. We will have to put them on the list for next time! I got a buttermilk biscuit, blueberry muffin, cinnamon roll, strawberry cupcake, lemon crinkle cookie, chocolate chip cookie, sugar cookie and an iced lemon poppy loaf. My total was just under $50 with tip and I was pleased with that price for everything I got. The shop was very clean and the ladies behind the counter were very kind, enthusiastic and ready to serve. I will be back next time I'm in Nashville!

Yelp
On my first visit to Gluten Free Goose, I was pleasantly surprised with my baked treats. I ordered the chicken sausage biscuit and the French crueller. The crueller was a wonderful alternate to a Krispy Kreme donut. I ate both in one sitting and enjoyed every bite. I can't wait to go back and try the cookies and cupcakes. My tummy was very happy afterwards. No pics because I was too excited to eat that I didn't think to take any.

Madison G.

Yelp
I almost don't want to write a review because I want to keep this gem all to myself!!! I'm gluten and dairy free and my husband found this place and surprised me with a pumpkin muffin and a lemon crinkle cookie. I asked him multiple times are you SURE these are GF/DF because they are SO good. I haven't gotten to experience a good pastry since these dietary changes so these treats almost brought actual tears to my eyes. I'm so grateful this place exists!!!

Anne H.

Yelp
So disappointed! I only got a few bites in and there was a part of a UPC sticker baked inside. Now I'm wondering if I ate the rest of it in the few bites that I had. I'm super bummed because now I don't have breakfast and I'm out that money. Plus, there a so few gluten free options in Nashville that it's really disappointing that this happened. Dang.

Kelly R.

Yelp
This place is amazing! My favorite thing on the menu is the vegan hazelnut coffee cupcake, with the red velvet cupcake a close second. The cinnamon rolls are INSANELY good! Everything is wonderful, and we are so thankful to have this gem in our neighborhood!

Yelp
As a gluten-free consumer, baked goods can be hard. That is not the case here. The Gluten Free Goose provides delicious pastries and bread goods that I thought I'd never enjoy again. Bravo to a business that gets it right! (My guilty pleasure is the eggnog cream puffs -- yum!) I'm glad they are a part of the Nashville community!

Antoinette M.

Yelp
I recently visited this bakery and tried the vegan Oreo Cookie Chocolate cupcakes. I'm not on a vegan diet but have started to explore more vegan options. This cupcake is the real deal! I love desserts and know when I find a great one. The chocolate cake base is moist and delicious. It has the mouth feel that I look for when enjoying cake. The Oreo Cookie icing is the perfect sweetness and compliments the cake very well. It is also delicious. The service was wonderful. Unfortunately, I did not get the young ladies name that assisted me but, she was extremely friendly and helpful, especially 30 minutes before closing. The bakery is a small storefront but looked very clean and offered a welcoming atmosphere. They also have many gluten free options if you have that need. You may think prices are a little high but, keep in mind, you will pay more for quality ingredients and delicious products. The product spoke for itself. I discovered that you need to arrive earlier in the day because they sell out of many of their treats. This was my first visit but will definitely not be my last!!

Yelp
Great - love the people, love the baked goods. Pricey but worth it as gluten free goods of this quality are impossible to find elsewhere.

Yelp
when it first opened, it was exciting to have a gluten free bakery. but the products are not very tasty. they closed for a bit and when they reopened I tried to give them another chance but the place stunk of chemicals . i left a review on google and got a nasty response and a lame excuse . I am a health coach, among other things and I do know how bakery has to operate and what you need to clean the place . I also know toxins and there is no reason for it to smell like a chemical lab. owner needs to learn how to take criticism and be a little nicer many people come to me for advise on food places in Nashville, as it's my job to advise them. hope you change your attitude and understanding toxic exposer and food !

Sierra C.

Yelp
They haven't technically opened yet but I sent them a message a few weeks ago after doing some of their tastings if they would be taking special orders. My husband has been diagnosed with celiac for about 4 years now and desperately misses cake. He tried their hostess cake at the tasting and we asked if we could order a birthday cake size. Man did they deliver!! This was absolutely AMAZING. Decadent and moist. I avoid gf desserts because they lack flavor and are dry but I couldn't even tell this was gluten free. I will be a weekly customer. Seriously this was freaking awesome!!

Angie G.

Yelp
Amazing!!! Arrive early because it is so good it goes fast. You can not tell it's gluten free. The best cruellers I've tasted.

Jaime V.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! We finally have an amazing gluten free bakery in Nashville area. I live in Franklin and have tried everything. Gluten Free Goose is by far the best. I'm soooo happy!

Loretta G.

Yelp
Had the chocolate chip scone. It as delicious! And how nice not to worry if there is cross contact!

Alyssa M.

Yelp
This place is awesome. On Friday we went in to sample some of the cupcakes and cookies and everything was tasty. The cupcakes, especially the red velvet, were delicious even for my non gluten free husband and the owner was super friendly. Highly recommend.
