"Wahl features dipped bánh cuốn at Golden Deli in San Gabriel." - Matthew Kang
"Dish: Pho Tai Nam Gan The pho at Golden Deli achieves an immaculate balance in its translucent broth, right at the intersection of fatty, sour, sweet, and (most definitely) salty. There’s an oily shimmer on top that lets you know you’re in for some excellent soup, and while the noodles are sometimes a bit gummy, the beef brisket, ribeye, and tendon are tender and extremely flavorful, and more than make up for the soft noodles. Make sure to use the sliced lime and housemade chili sauce on the side to deepen the flavors." - brant cox, kat hong, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"Vietnamese bún is always a good call on a hot day, but for those looking to try something else, the bánh hỏi — woven noodle sheets topped with proteins and served with fish sauce — is equally compelling. Get both topped with deep-fried spring rolls or whatever protein option fits one’s fancy." - Cathy Chaplin, Matthew Kang
"Arguably the best overall Vietnamese spot in SGV, Golden Deli’s crispy, crunchy cha gio are always in demand, but everything from the bun to the pho are fantastic too. People are almost always waiting for one of the small strip mall restaurant’s coveted tables." - Eater Staff, Matthew Kang
"Golden Deli is a family-run Vietnamese restaurant in the SGV that's become something of a Los Angeles institution. Come during the peak lunch rush and expect to wait on the sidewalk for at least 45 minutes. But if you have the time (or can sneak out of work for an early lunch), the pho is worth it. There are no bad pho on the menu, but our favorite is the simple php tai—ribeye sliced paper-thin and placed over a bowl of noodles. The steak turns from red to tan to brown the moment it hits the soup; rice noodles are firm but not chewy, and the herb plate is packed with a salad worth of mint, basil, sprouts, and lime.
