The Best Restaurants In San Jose

"Green Lotus is a plant-based Vietnamese spot with a mixed crowd of in-the-know locals and monks from the nearby monastery. Dishes like caramelized faux fish claypot and sweet and sour hotpot bring all the Vietnamese flavors you’d expect, just without any meat. It's in a small sunlit space in the Little Saigon shopping plaza, and we like it best for lunch or an early solo dinner (they close at 8pm)." - shoshi parks

The Best Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurants in San Jose and the South Bay | Eater SF

"For flavorful, plant-based Vietnamese food, look no further than Green Lotus. The restaurant serves a wide selection of savory classics, like BBQ “pork” spring rolls, pho, and “shrimp” cakes — but without any animal products. The noodle soups are said to be extra umami, and customers love the crispy oyster mushroom seasoned with a homemade tamarind sauce. Though the first location opened in Vietnam town, Green Lotus now has two locations in San Jose and both are casual and inviting." - Cathy Park

Google
Delicious Vietnamese vegetarian and vegan restaurants, where the staff are incredibly friendly and the food is prepared really quickly. They have a lot of "meat" substitutes and a very wide ranging menu. I recommend their crispy chicken dish or trying their specialty plates, since some of the other "classics" like pho and vermicelli bowls sadly aren't as good as other restaurants in the area.

Google
Arrived at 11:45am on Saturday. Almost full restaurant. Ordered Thai fried rice, egg plant with basil, and mango salad, pot of hot tea for a table of four. Everything was delicious! Total came out to be $58 including tips. I would absolutely come back again!!! Probably tomorrow hahahah!

Google
If you enjoy vegetarian food, you absolutely need to stop by this place. Every dish is full of flavor and made with so much care. Truly an impressive spot for delicious meat free meals.

Google
Exceptional food everything was delicious and our server was amazing. His name was Duy! He was honest and told us everything we should order and not order! Definitely will come back again!

Google
I love coming here to get Vietnamese vegetarian food. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the salted fish fried rice and I also liked the bun bo hue a lot! I'd recommend this place for people who are vegetarian as there are so many options to choose from!!

Google
This vegetarian restaurant serves really delicious food. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully made. The menu has a lot of great options, and it’s easy to find something you’ll enjoy, whether you’re vegetarian or not. The only downside is the service. While the staff isn’t rude, the service can be slow or a bit inattentive at times, which takes away from the overall experience. Still, the food itself is fantastic, and the atmosphere is nice. If you don’t mind waiting a little longer, it’s definitely worth trying for the quality of the dishes alone.

Google
Amazing Vietnamese food with a refreshing vegetarian twist! Vegetarian Pho: The vegetarian pho was truly out of this world. The broth was incredibly mild yet refreshingly flavorful, making it a standout dish. The generous amount of vegetables added to the dish not only enhanced the taste but also gave it a wholesome feel. Vegetarian Fresh Spring Roll: These were delightfully refreshing and paired perfectly with the peanut sauce, which was rich and flavorful. Each bite felt light yet satisfying, making it an ideal appetizer. Service: Unfortunately, the service fell a bit short. Communication was somewhat challenging, possibly due to language barriers, which made the experience less seamless than it could have been. Ambience: The ambience was pleasant, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere that complemented the dining experience well. In summary, Green Lotus delivers exceptional vegetarian Vietnamese dishes but could improve on service for a more well-rounded experience.

Google
I visited this restaurant this evening, normal weekday, with my mom, who is a vegetarian. - parking: quite small area. If you are here on wkd or special religious events, you have to find other place nearby to park. - dining area is okay, decor is simple. You have to get in line and wait to call to the dining table. It’s fast on weekdays! - menu has a lot of dishes in English and Vietnamese with clear prices. To have a better menu, it should have illustrated photo for every dish. - the food is really good. We had ordered “bun mam” and “ bun cha gio”. The taste is super! We like it! Will come back and recommended to everyone, especially to vegetarians!

Yelp
Definitely one of vegetarian restaurants that we will be coming back in the future. We passed this restaurant for so many times, and we finally had the chance to dine there. The place is spacious, parking can be a hassle. But if you arrive early, you will find parking spots at ease. For appetizers, we would recommend by Crispy Osyter Seasoning, huge oyster chunks, fried with batter with seasoning. Love this dish as my kids thought it was fried chicken at first. My second recommendation is their bbq "pork" roll. Since they use imitation pork, I was surprised this pork roll was so tasty. They also give the mango sauce to dip with the bbq pork, it was so delicious. They don't skimp on the portion too. One dish can be easily shared by two-three people. We also love their "chicken" and mushroom fried rice. This one one of their most popular dishes that you need to get! Very tasty, shareable with your group too. Definitely get the sugar cane juice here. Very refreshing to drink with all those dish!

Yelp
With my vegan eating daughter in town,I needed a new place to go eat. This place had really good reviews,so she ok. They have a nice variety of fake meats . Most places don't have such a good selection. She ordered the vegan udon. It's actually hard to find a vegan broth. The broth was thick and rich. Almost a chicken soup consistently. We also got fried tofu and the salty fish fried rice. Not the typical fried tofu. This one was panko crusted. The silky tofu walked well with the crispy crunchy crust.. The rice wasn't that salty. It was fine, just expected a little more salty and flavore. We ordered online and,it said it would be ready in 10 minutes. Really quick service for 6pm. My only negative is the traffic around the area. It's always seems like there's traffic up and down story rd. I like the area food scene, but hate dealing with the traffic and the parking.

Yelp
We usually order from the Business Circle location because we personally feel like the food is slightly better from there and also there's a five star rewards system at that location. However, we decided to order from this location today. We got the salted fish fried rice, bbq pork roll, and crispy oyster mushroom. Just by looks, the fried rice here is a lot more pale. I do think the rice is marginally less seasoned but overall still good. I really enjoyed the mushroom because it's slightly sweet compared to the Business Circle one. The only dish I was disappointed by was the bbq pork roll. The rice paper was on the harder side already when we ate it, whereas, we could leave the Business Circle's roll out for hours with no problem. I still think the food at this location is good, but we still prefer the other location.

Yelp
We came on a busy Wednesday work lunch with a group of eight people. They were able to see us fairly quickly. This place gets packed during lunchtime so plan accordingly. Our suggestions would be to try their spring roll sampler and their green lotus salad. Just super fresh and superb. I can't believe it's all vegan! Such a gem in the community. And if youre not vegetarian or vegan, def try this place!

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in the bay area! We've been coming for years and have tried about 99% of the menu and everything is consistently delicious. I'm not vegan, but I constantly find myself craving their food. Food 5/5: Some of their menu highlights include the salted fish fried rice, mango salad, crispy seasoning oyster mushroom, green curry, and the tofu dumpling vermicelli soup ( their version of Bún Riêu). My family also favors their caramelized clay pot dishes. Their food is fresh and flavorful! Service 5/5: Attentive, friendly staff Ambiance 5/5: It's a cozy, medium sized restaurant with lots of dining space and always tidy. Overall, this is a place we love to frequent. I cannot rave enough about this place and I've converted a many non vegan eaters into loving Green Lotus!

Yelp
Parking: Small lot but not too packed so parking should be ok. Interior: Plenty of tables, good for big groups, and pretty clean. Wait Time: None to be seated, about 10-20min for food. Items Order: 10/10 Caramelized Roasted Pork in Clay Pot $14.5 - FIRE! The sauce is so authentic to vietnamese bo kho and the meat alternative was truly replicated so well! Very tender, juicy, and flavorful. Must get! 10/10 Shaken Beef with Bell Pepper $14.5 - YUM AF. Very similar review to the above with a different flavor profile. 10/10 Crispy Seasoning Oyster Mushroom $12 - BOMB. Seasoned very well, fried lightly and crispy. 8/10 Papaya Salad $13 - Not as spectacular as the others but still well made, fresh, and good sauces/flavors. Rice $3

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time after a long road trip and it hit the spot. None of us are fully vegan, but this was quite delicious. What we ordered in order of excellence: 1. Shaken beef 10/10 2. Green lotus salad 9/10 3. Bbq ham rolls 8/10 4. Pho noodle soup 7/10 Restrooms is fairly clean and free parking in the shared lot. Clean, pleasant casual interior. Very friendly and fast service! Will be returning next I'm in the Bay Area to try more dishes.

Yelp
Delicious Vietnamese vegetarian food. Taste and portion is very good. Restaurant is very clean and modern. Parking lot is small though. What we ordered: Pork belly in clay pot Lemongrass fish Shaking beef

Yelp
Came here for a Sunday lunch. Was greeted upon entering the restaurant and was able to order quickly. I ordered the vermicelli noodle bowl with tofu nuggets. The nuggets were fried to perfection, for a vermicelli bowl it had very little carrots and cucumbers, I wish there had been a little more to balance the amount of bean sprouts and lettuce. Other than that it was delicious and flavorful, especially with the vegan fish sauce. My boyfriend ordered the pho soup and it was absolutely delicious, you could taste really strong notes of cinnamon and the broth was very flavorful, I guarantee any normal person wouldn't believe it was vegan. Overall we had a good experience and I'd recommend others give this spot a try
google avatar

Loella D.

Yelp
Great veggie spot with a wide selection! The ambiance was giving local spot that the neighborhood frequents as foot traffic was consistent, and service is straight forward. I ordered a ton to try a variety since it was my first time, and the portions were so large - definitely to share. The fried oyster seemed like a must try and was the standout dish for me, its seasoned perfectly and the texture is crispy. I've had better vermecelli plates but it wasn't too bad and the spring rolls had a nice crisp. I'd probably opt for something different next time. I wouldn't say I love it but it's great for what it is: Affordable, abundant selection of vegetarian food that doesn't make you feel like you're missing out.

Yelp
We came around 1:45pm on a Tuesday, and the place was empty so we didn't have to wait in line or anything. Service was good. Ambiance is fine. Parking might or might not be difficult to find depending on the day and time you come. For the food, I tried the Crispy Oyster Mushroom and the Shaken Beef. They were both pretty good. I don't like mushroom, but I kept eating their crispy oyster mushroom. It really doesn't taste like mushroom. Overall, pretty good. I will probably come here again.

Yelp
I went to an event that had catered from this restaurant. Everything was delicious! I usually don't go to vegetarian restaurants, but this one is really good! I may start going to vegetarian restaurants now thanks to their yummy food! I had the BBQ Pork roll, tofu fried rice, and an eggplant dish.
google avatar

Daisy S.

Yelp
First timer at this location! FYI it is not located inside of grand century mall. It is located in its own parking lot area. The restaurant is a little cozier than the other location. I wish they had the door open or put on the AC because it was super stuffy even on a colder day. We got greeted immediately upon arriving. Our server was nice and helpful with recommendations. We ordered the crispy seasoned oyster mushrooms, mushroom chicken fried rice, and the shaken beef plate. Everything was 10/10! The stand out were the crispy oyster mushrooms. To me, they tasted like katsu chicken! The texture of the breading and the mushrooms was so meat like, it was trippy! And the sauce was just spot on delish. Overall, pleasant experience would return to this location for Asian style vegan food.
google avatar

Yelp
Very much vegan Vietnamese food for lunch they have good spring rolls, all types of imitation meat but to those who don't eat or like meat taste not much choice. We took eggplant and tofu curry it had no meat taste.

Yelp
Vegetarian food that is SOSO delicious!! My family has been transitioning to a plant-based diet & Green Lotus has to be our go-to! Favorites: Eggplant Stir-Fry - Delicious and so so saucy!! Crispy Mushrooms - Eaten this 3 different times it is our go-to and the mushrooms are addicting and very flavorful Mango Salad - Huge portions and super fresh to balance out other oilier dishes Everything was so well seasoned and came with huge huge portions!! Really great for big groups to share a set of dishes
google avatar

Megana V.

Yelp
Vietnamese people have perfected fake meat, the rest of the world needs to catch up!! Green lotus had such good vegetarian food! All the fake meats tasted different and the textures were as spot on as I've ever experienced. My friend ordered so don't know the names of the dishes but got an egg roll/spring roll platter, some noodle soup, and Thai fried rice. Loved them all!!! Highly recommend

Yelp
Very limited parking as it is on the corner of the Grand Century Mall. You have to turn into the first driveway as it has its own dedicated parking area. If you miss it, you gotta go around again or walk from the main parking lot. Small but open seating - about a little over 10 tables. Usually my go to orders when eating vegetarian/vegan are: fish in a clay pot, sweet and sour soup, a curry, and salad. The green curry had the perfect amount of heat and coconut cream. I love bamboo shoots and eggplants in my curry. The fish in the clay pot had nice texture and the sauce was not overly sweet. Caramelization is a must in this dish and the sauce was not thick. You can never go wrong with the sweet and sour soup. It's mixed with celery, bean sprouts, okra, tomatoes, pineapple, tofu, and "ham". The papaya salad I will probably pass on next time. A bit too hard and personally I would have liked more flavor or punch in the sauce to elevate it. My parents are vegetarian/vegan and I'm a carnivore. It's healthy dining without the guilt and is satisfying. I wouldn't mind coming back to try their hotpots or spring rolls.

Yelp
Really wanted to eat here but they couldn't tell me what was gluten free .... I'm celiac so vitally important. Food looks amazing but they really need to add this info. I asked the two people working and they looked at me and had no idea what I was asking...I would have ordered a ton of food.... Place looks very clean...and food looks amazing, I'd tried if I was not worried about gluten free. Hoping they can fix!

Yelp
Solid Vietnamese vegetarian. Hits the spot if you're craving vegetarian but not the best Vietnamese vegetarian I've had

My Nhu L.

Yelp
I've been a loyal customer at Green Lotus for years. It was my go-to spot for comforting Vietnamese food, and I always brought new friends, clients, and family along, hoping to introduce them to authentic flavors and support a local business. Sadly, this visit was a huge letdown--and it will be my last. I usually order the same things: the Thai hot pot, fried mushrooms, and spring rolls. But this time, everything was off--way off. The moment the food hit the table, I could smell the old, rancid oil. That alone should've been the red flag. The food looked darker than usual and completely unappetizing. The portion sizes? An absolute joke compared to what they used to be. The fried mushrooms were more like burnt crumbs than actual pieces. The spring rolls, once fresh and flavorful, were soggy, smelly, and overcooked. The vegetables, which used to be a highlight for me, smelled off and looked wilted. And the hot pot--don't even get me started. $30 for a few sad slices of tofu, a couple mushrooms, and some unidentifiable, rubbery meat that tasted awful. The broth, which should be the star, was bland and strange like someone forgot to season it at all. The people seems like they just here for their money hourly and go. They dont care abt customers. Their face show really angry and unwelcomed. It honestly feels like the owners have given up. No care in the cooking, no attention to quality, no pride in the food. I've spent years supporting this place, bringing in new customers and spreading good word, but it seems like they just don't care anymore. I'm not the only one noticing the decline--my friends and clients who came with me were just as disappointed. I'll be warning everyone I know to stay away from now on. Take care of your business--because clearly, nobody there is doing it right now.

Carl B.

Yelp
Was told permanently closed. Had to go elsewhere. Too bad menu and reviews sounded great.
google avatar

Thalia M.

Yelp
I don't normally go out for vegetarian/vegan food as I get to eat it at home occasionally. However, during Lent season we decided to stop my one of our favorite vegetarian restaurants. I got the Vegetarian Pho and I was blown away. The broth was full of flavor and there were all sorts of tofu including vegan ham, fried tofu and more. We also ordered the Vegetarian Green Curry. It came with a different type of eggplant which was on the crunchier side. The curry had lots of flavor and it also came with a lot of rice to enjoy it with!
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
Hands down, best vegan and vegetarian restaurant. Been here several times. Always made a point to eat here when in SJ. Must try includes our two favorites... the egg roll sampler plates and Pamelo salad. If you close your eyes, you would think you are eating meat instead of tofu products. The consistency and texture are so well made to match the actual meat counterparts. Ample space to dine, parking may be a little tricky, but it it right off edge of Saigon center in SJ.
google avatar

Greg M.

Yelp
Dinner was ruined by the teenage staff who: 1) pushed us to order right away because they wanted to close in an hour, 2) mopped with bleach under our feet while we dined, and 3) put chairs up on tables as we ate. Waiters: if you accept a job, accept the hours. Owner: stop letting your children run your restaurant.
google avatar

Kyi Sin H.

Yelp
I've been searching for a vegetarian restaurant for ages, and I finally found one! They have these awesome vegetarian hot pot options where you can pick different flavors. I really love how they make the fake meat with veggies, it's so good! If you're visiting to Vietnamese town, you definitely need to check it out!
google avatar

Anne H.

Yelp
A heavenly place for vegan and vegetarian. You won't feel deprived without meat. Start off assorted roll sampler, get a taste of all rolls with faux pork and tofu roll. The crispy oyster mushroom is a must try. They also have a variety of curry dishes available. The caramel used faux pork in a clay pot tasted like real meat which my meat-eater friends were surprised. You won't miss eating meat here. They are busy, so you need to flag their staff down for any service. Typical Asian mom and pop type of restaurant. They also offer online orders thru Grubhub, Ubereats and Doordash. So an alternative for that if you don't feel like waiting for a table there. The dining area is not big, max 50 diners. So it is not ideal for a large party or a family with small children. Food is delicious even non-vegetarian will enjoy,
google avatar

Yelp
Green Lotus has a large variety of Vegan options. The first time I tried their food was at my friend's baby's first birthday party. I remember the crispy oyster mushrooms was a big hit, followed by the papaya salad. I did not realize Green Lotus had two locations and one of them was at the Grand Century Plaza (the busiest spot in SJ for food). The restaurant was hidden out of sight so I would have missed it if I did not pass by it. I ordered the same two items that I tried before... crispy oyster mushrooms, papaya salad, and the strawberry banana smoothie. The crispy oyster mushroom was good but it lacked seasoning this time. Surprisingly, it tasted better cold! The tamarind sauce they used was sweet with a mild tartness. I really enjoyed their papaya salad. The sauce they used reminded me of Chinese beef jerky when I ate it with their dried marinated tofu pieces. The strawberry banana smoothie was good. Tasted like ice-cream. Service was okay. It felt like I was ordering at a fast food chain because of the layout. When you walk inside, the first things you see would be the register and workers taking orders over the counter. There were also no customers dining at that time around 4pm on a Tuesday. Food took awhile to get but it was worth trying! Highly recommend Green Lotus for the Vegans.
google avatar

Jonarose V.

Yelp
Never in my life would I have imagined that I would be enjoying Vietnamese Vegan style dishes. But I did. And I'm actually happy I did. There's a whole difference in comparison for the fried rice. The inside was pretty modern. Nice decor, and pretty nice lighting for food pic taking. Service was a bit slow. I'm going to assume based on the amount of taste out orders they had. But I didn't get mad or upset. Just nature of the business. For those who "love" Din Tai Fung, bruh Green Lotus Rice is significantly better than there's by 1,000%. It's ridiculous. The avocado smoothie was phenomenal. Perfect sweetness level. Deep fried oyster mushrooms could use a bit more crunch. The vegan fish is super tangy. For me personally it was very acidic too, but I still enjoyed to an extent. The coconut sticky rice and mango... dude literally perfect end to this meal. Hoping to be back soon.
google avatar

Brianna B.

Yelp
So first off, When I walked in, the host didn't greet me. Just stared. So I said "table for one please" and she shoved a menu toward me like wtf. What you mad at me for? I just walked in here!? lol anyway The food is amazing so I'll give ol' girl a pass. The vegan pho is the best I've had. I love the addition of vegan meats but I will say, the "ham" was a bit too realistic for me so I was low-key disgusted and took it out. I. Throughly enjoyed the beef and tofu tho. It was very filling. The broth was aromatic, sweet, and fragrant. So delicious on a cold day! My only complaint was that the noodles were thicker than what I'm used to. The bbq pork spring rolls are 10/10 recommend. There's something crunchy on the inside and paired with the meatiness of the pork and fresh herbs, it makes for an interesting textural experience. I've also tried the spicy soup and again, delicious. It had some lemongrass notes in it so it was a little tangy but still. 10/10 again! Green Lotus don't miss!
google avatar

Truth A.

Yelp
The service is poor, though the food is decent. I haven't sampled enough to fully judge the menu, but their reluctant attitude stands out--seemingly forced into this business, not willingly serving.
google avatar

Azaria S.

Yelp
Tried this spot out on a whim and I'm glad I did. It was a smooth experience from start to finish. The team working was polite and seemed genuinely glad to have folks there. It wasn't one of those spots where everyone is stiff or robotic, more like real people who liked what they were doing. The food was on point, too. Not overcomplicated, just done right. I had a couple dishes and they were both tasty and felt freshly made. I noticed how well things were seasoned -- not overpowering but enough to make it interesting. The service didn't feel rushed but also not slow, good timing all around. They checked in at the right moments, and cleared the table quickly without making it awkward. Atmosphere was low key but clean and inviting. Sometimes it's the small things like how someone refills your drink or asks how the food is without sounding rehearsed, and they nailed that. It's a spot I'd be happy to come back to.
google avatar

Kenneth L.

Yelp
We went in and pick or ordered fried tofu and fried mushroom oyster but first I ask one hot water and one tap water which normal water little cold , she serve us both almost cold water with lemon or orange taste, the food is good both of it , hopefully they can understand well on what guest wanted not based on the area which is all Vietnamese people living around it. I ask for few minutes but they are hesitant to get order fast so we order those.
google avatar

Nareena V.

Yelp
Green lotus is a Vietnamese vegetarian/vegan resturant. My boyfriend is trying a non-meat diet so we came to try out Green Lotus and it definitely didn't disappoint. Everything was so delicious! It's casual inside. The service was also very fast. We got the N2 Bun Bo Hue and R5 Bo Luc Lac. Both were flavorful and delicious. The BBH was the perfect amount of spice and the BLL had just enough sauce. I also got the sugar cane juice and it was a bit too sour for myPortions were ok. Prices were decent as well. We will be back!
google avatar

Kathleen W.

Yelp
Absolutely scrumptious. After a very busy holiday end of the year and coming back to NorCal for the start of the year, we wanted something nice and soothing. My SO got the duck noodle soup and I got the pho and we shared the spring rolls. Every bite was hearty and delicious. We get into vegan phases sometimes and this place really hit the spot.

Al T.

Yelp
Food is good but service always lacking. Never pay attention to customer or bring menu. Maybe because they hire a lot of young people.

Hunh Nguyn L.

Yelp
I'm very disappointed with the meal I received. I ordered salted fish fried rice, and it was extremely greasy, with oil pooling at the bottom of the container. It made the food look and taste unappetizing. This much oil is not normal or acceptable. People with high cholesterol would pass away after having this meal. It felt careless and made the whole meal unpleasant to eat. I expected better quality and basic food handling standards. I would never go back to this restaurant again. Feel shameless and careless of the owner.
google avatar

Tri L.

Yelp
Food: 4 Tasty food, but a lot of the menu items that we want are no longer available (think one of the cooks that made those items went to Golden Bamboo - like the Vietnamese crepes/pancakes, grapefruit salad, and some of the appetizers). My fav: Green Lotus Crab Udon Spicy Noodle Soup Green Lotus Egg Roll Salted "fish" fried rice """Chicken"" & Mushroom Fried Rice" Combination fried rice Green Rolls Banana Flower Salad Green lotus salad Four seasons appetizers House Rice Noodle Soup "Eastern ""Duck"" Style Noodle Soup" Crispy Seasoning Oyster Mushrooms Pho Noodle Soup Mushroom soup Service: 2.5 Seriously understaffed. They are impatient in taking our order. They advise against certain drinks because it will take a long time to make.
google avatar

Fátima C.

Yelp
First time here! The food and seasoning was really good. Crunchy tofu and great options if you're vegan/vegetarian. I've had better Thai tea. The music is instrumental piano/guitar so very calming vibes. Will come back, but I agree with other customers that there is no greeter. No one was there to greet me so I just took a seat until someone came.
google avatar

Miliza T.

Yelp
ORDER EVERYTHING ON THIS MENU lol but really, everything is so delicious here! im a sucker for vietnamese vegetarian food. i've taken my family here who's not vegetarian at all, and they loved it! my tried and true has got to be the banana flower salad. all the soups and salads are probably my go to because it's not common to have these kinds of flavors and at the same time vegetarian pricing is very fair, service is attentive, parking lot is a bit small- but so is the location near stevens creek.
google avatar

Lynn R.

Yelp
Green Lotus has many yummy vegetarian options. The parking lot is small - located in the smaller plaza right before Century Mall, next to Tasty Pot. *Crispy seasoned oyster mushroom was really tasty, not greasy, but somewhat over-battered. *Eastern duck style noodle soup - great broth, lots of veggies, and perfectly chewy egg noodles. *Crispy chow mein - definitely must eat this family style. *Mushroom and chicken fried rice - tasty! Not too salty. Overall, everything was solid and portions are large enough to share. I would come again to try other dishes
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
I'm not vegan or vegetarian but always enjoy this place! Great for sharing family style with groups as the portions tend to be large. Parking lot is a bit small but generally can find parking. They started serving sugar cane juice which I'll have to get next time! Green lotus egg rolls are always popular among friends I bring here. Wrap the rolls in the lettuce and do into the sauce. Lotus salad is unique. On the sour refreshing side of things. Shaking "beef" dish is among my favorites. The oyster mushroom appetizer came with a LOT of mushrooms and definitely good for sharing. Don't care much for the yellow curry or the soups too much but love trying all the other dishes! Pleasantly surprised my almond milk tea was good. Not the most amazing but for a restaurant it was nice! Better than some boba shops.

Yelp
Definitely a good tip to have an idea of what you want to eat so you can just order right away right when you get seated. Also, there will be a price increase starting in August 18 (photo included, but does not let us know the year) I'm assuming it is during 2022. We ordered the banh canh, salted fish fried rice and also the bun mam. The banh came was a bit salty the day we came but my mother says it's not usually that salty though. For the salted fish fried rice, it wasn't as salty as I thought it would be but mainly it is because it is vegetarian. I do recommend you may need some soy sauce on the side. Lastly, the bun mam tasted okay but it's something I would not fully suggest. I do like how they add a lot of different toppings with it comes with the bun nam.

Yelp
Came here for my friend's bd. She love vegetarian food but for me not so such. This is my first time here and food was so good. The hot tea had such a good aroma, I think they put pandan in it. Definitely will come back again.

Yelp
This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in San Jose, and it's my go-to spot whenever I'm visiting home! Healthy food, amazing flavors, and lovely Viet cuisine all wrapped in one. Everything about this place is amazing. My favorite order here is the Bún Huế, their vegan version of bún bò huế. I've tried many different vegan versions of this dish, but none have nailed it like Green Lotus has. There's lots of different "meats" and tofu in it, with my favorite being the vegan version of chả lụa (Vietnamese ham). The flavor is spot on, with the same spice and lemongrass aroma that you get from the regular dish, but this one leaves you feeling much lighter (but still full!). The flavor is seriously spot on. Their spring rolls are also amazing, I love the nem nướng (bbq "pork") one the most. The taste and texture are the same as regular nem, but I feel good eating it knowing it's way healthier! Service is also nice here, they're a little understaffed but I've never had a complaint! They're quick to take your order so that the food can come out for you quickly. This place gets packed around lunch time and dinner time! So plan accordingly! Overall, super worth the price (most of the entrees are only $14.50, they'd be closer to $20-$22 at other vegan spots) and always a great time eating here.

Yelp
contrary to the high reviews I didn't think it gets 5 stars. Almost everything lacked flavor. We got the green lotus egg roll which was probably the best recommendation from the Yelp reviews! It was super crunchy and I never had an egg roll that was that crunchy with so many flavors! We also got the spicy noodle soup- and it was spicy, but flavor wise, it didn't hit for me and the fake meat inside wasn't very appetizing either. It was also not very hot. We got a clay pot fish and it was odd and presentation wise looked a lot different than what we expected! It looked like eggplants? But it was mushy and fake meat. Lastly we got the chicken and mushroom rice which was surprisingly pretty good! The rice they used was more so for sweet rice desserts which was a nice surprise. The flavors were good and it paired well with fish sauce. Overall, so so vegan food, it was also stuffy inside like many reviews said.

Yelp
Happened to host close family for a Vietnamese themed dinner on Christmas eve and were left impressed with what Green Lotus has to offer. We called them up and it took a bit to get the entire order placed attributing to the number of items and the amount of inquiry/questions that we had while doing the needful. We ended up ordering (as you would see from the pictures) an array of spring roles, eggplant dish, noodle salads, milk tea and a few more. I drove in to pick up the order and when i reached there they were waiting for me to arrive so that they could as well at that time prepare the milk tea fresh and not something that was prepared and kept for a while. While we had paid for this on the call , we forgot to take care of the tip and the folks there didn't bother to mention that as well. I made sure to do another transaction just so that we could address that then and there :). Very courteous folks who definitely care a ton about their customers. Each and every item was tried and eventually finished leaving us with nothing but empty boxes at the conclusion of the dinner :) . Yummy, precisely done and a very unique flavor that was just too good. It was an overload of Vietnamese food for quite some time and hopefully we can make a trip down there soon.

Yelp
Wonderful meal to-go ordered to celebrate my Dads birthday! Ordered the combination roll appetizer, the tofu spring rolls, papaya salad, soft chow fun, and combination stir fried vegetable. I would say my favorite dishes were the appetizers. The papaya salad was to die for, as were the spring rolls! The dishes served here are creative, flavorful, and very tasty. I love the variety of mock meats that they offer. I was very impressed by the seasonings. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
It gets a little busy and parking is limited. However the food is really good! Service is alright.

Yelp
If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars I definitely would!!! Have eaten here over 5 times and all of the dishes have been amazing. If you want to get your veggies in, while eating amazing food come here instead of the other restaurants on story rd
