The Best Restaurants in Richmond, Virginia | Eater DC

"Grisette’s menu flexes on French classics (think steak frites and fluke en papillote) with a sincere commitment to using locally sourced seasonal ingredients. And then there’s the wine — approachably priced and exceedingly drinkable, the list offers exactly what you want to sip while enjoying chef Donnie Glass’s personally curated smorgasbord of charcuterie and planning your next move. When in The Fan, snag a seat on the patio at Jardin, a wine shop with selections by the glass plus snacks from the Grisette family. An all-day bakery inside of Jardin debuts at the end of March. Glass recently added Beaucoup, an additional restaurant to his cadre of top-notch spots." - Stephanie Ganz

From the hostess to the most to my server, Bela I had an amazing reception felt very welcome given that it was my first time had a wonderful server only to be matched by the food that came in the kitchen. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their job and the presentation. They made sure I knew the ice cream was from another local vendor spotty dog I have given this restaurant five stars in every category. Their menu is small, but everything that I watch come out of the kitchen looked amazing. People were very helpful and genuinely pleased to be doing such high-quality work‼️💜

Google
Very well done, overall loved the meal and atmosphere from start to finish. Steak was cooked perfectly, fries excellent. Would’ve liked fresher greens on the salad. I enjoyed the small menu, do what you do, and do it well. Certainly an intimate space, always pairs well with an open kitchen concept. Everything from decor to the vintage plates make you feel right at home in some far away bistro. The Parking will be a bit of a chore as with any place worth its salt, but be a good fellow and get a reservation. Will definitely be back, Grisette. You did not disappoint.

Whenever I'm in town, I try to make a stop at Grisette. This place is the epitome of old-fashioned hospitality. The staff are always so accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. We love to order "dealer's choice" style, and let the staff course out our meal without ordering for ourselves. It's the best way to try all the delicious flavors and unique offerings on the menu. The food is, and has been since they opened, consistently excellent. I simply cannot recommend Grisette highly enough. Reservations are a must!

Great experience here. Super friendly staff and incredible food. The server took a lot of pride in her job. She gave some great recommendations, which we basically followed blindly, and we were very happy with what we got! Awesome date night spot!

Google
Grisette was quite the pleasant surprise in RVA. Walked in not knowing what to expect and left with an experience that I’m dying to have again. It’s rare to have food, service and vibes all on high levels and they’ve figured it out here. Big personal shout out to Clay, who was incredibly generous with his time and knowledge. We had all the things, including the mussels, chicken, NY strip and of course profiteroles 🤤 I’m not often in Richmond, but I know where I’ll have dinner whenever I am! Thanks to the entire team!

In town for a business trip, I enjoyed the friendly staff from my seat at the bar along with chatting with other patrons. Great charcuterie offerings, wine list, and cocktails.

Google
My girlfriend and I stopped by for dinner and had their Barney and Safe Harbor mocktails, cornbread, tomato tart, and mackerel special. Some of the most incredible flavors and beautiful presentations I’ve ever seen. Lovely food and a lovely waiter too. Can’t recommend this place enough. Seems like it fills up pretty quick on a Friday evening, might need a reservation.

Google
Found atop Church Hill, Grisette has a reputation for casual fine dining. Staff is well informed and eager to accommodate. The dining area is tight but maintains intimacy. We started with a seasonal Eggnog. Light but boozy. Our waitress unexpectedly split the drink into two smaller glasses for both of us to share. Their charcuterie comes highly recommended. So, we chose two cheeses (Stilton & Gouda) and two meats (chicken liver mousse & rabbit rillette). Included were pickled onions, gherkins, & pickled fennel, with crusty bread. Everything was VERY good! Especially the c.l.mousse and the pickled fennel. I was skeptical of the c.l.mousse before tasting it. Now, I'm a total convert. You have to try it! My wife enjoyed her chicken entree with brussels, mushrooms, bacon, in a Dijon sauce. My entree was Catalan Stew consisting of a spicy, tomato broth with generous fresh, tender mussels, shrimp, and ground lamb. So GOOD! We had a very pleasant experience!

Yelp
Grisette is everything I want in a restaurant and more. Friendly staff, a great somm and meals to die for. Walked in on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. Started with the bread and anchovies along with charcuterie. Their charcuterie plate is everything. My husband and I both had the steak frites and we literally can't shut up about it. It was the best steak I've had in quite a while and the fries were perfectly crisp. This will definitely be a must visit everytime we are in the area.

Yelp
It's ironic that a 3 star review is 'Ok', because there's no real middle ground with Grisette. Either it's an amazing dining experience, or it's a bland, rushed meal with service that's a bit indifferent. I've eaten here...I guess about five times now? Tips to consider with Grisette: 1. Avoid if you're vegetarian. They do a vegetarian main, but it's rarely worth it. Stick with the fries and bread, or a cheese plate. The charcuterie plate is the real star of the show here. 2. Avoid during rush. They get busy, and work hard to flip the tables. 3. If you're eating elsewhere, come here for dessert! The bar is a great experience here, and they do wonderful cocktails. 4. As a French restaurant, it's perhaps unsurprising that they don't really do beer, here. Wine or cocktails. 5. The service here can be the best in the city, but if there's a table next to you that's more fun or bigger ticket, you may fall off the radar.

Yelp
Very little time to eat. Had a fine meal but were given a very stern 5 minute warning that we needed to finish up after only having been there for an hour and fifteen minutes. That just isn't enough time for a meal at this price point. We were surprised that was restaurant policy but confirmed with the waiter that is the case during the week. Would suggest just grabbing drinks and a quick entree. Definitely not a place if you're looking to linger. Also found our interaction with the waiter to not be particularly pleasant. If you're going to rush people out the door at least be nice about it.

Yelp
10/10. Grisette is a restaurant that had been on my list for a long time and I finally went recently! The service was fantastic (shout out to Andres!) and the food IS worth the hype. Highly recommend for a date night. It can get a little bit loud inside, but the food and cocktails are so wonderful that it's worth it.

Yelp
What a cute little spot! Very friendly staff who were also very attentive! I don't think my water glass ever got empty! The food was delicious and I loved that they have a small succinct menu! Our server made amazing recommendations and the kitchen was able to accommodate a vegetarian and she loved her food!

Yelp
For this Yelp review I'm going to use a different format than my usual. This review needs to be broken down into subcategories. *** Service *** 6 Stars! Far and away the best thing about the night! Andres M. is the absolute best. He has a professional disposition about him, he is attentive with an incredibly warm energy, quite simply an all-around great person. We joked together, talked about past cities we lived in, we spoke about the menu and wine selections. I can't say enough great things about Andres. ***Drinks*** 5 Stars Our table of 4 split the Evesham Wood Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley) and the Camino de Chile Sauvignon Blanc 2022 which were both excellent and paired well with the SMORGASBORD and the flounder main course. *** SMORGASBORD / Appetizer *** 5 Stars Marketed as quote: "Our favorite 3 meats & 3 cheese at the moment. All served with our bread, pickles, mustards, jams, and such. Check the chalkboard and chat with us about today's selections." Our wives consulted and chalkboard and made the selections. The SMORGASBORD was decadent! All the various little bites paired beautifully with the Pinot and when we were done only crumbs were left. At this point the stage is set, and the bar is set high. *** Main Course *** 1 Star Sigh. This section pains my soul. I had the steak frites and I'm disheartened to say it was terrible. Probably one of the worst steaks I've ever had. I don't know what cut of meat it was, but it was chewy like a junk piece of SHANK beef. I've had flank steak that was more tender than the sinewy dryness I was served. There was zero seasoning, not even a dash of salt. I asked for medium rare on the cook and was given medium-well. The frites were the star of the dish and were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I supposed one could argue that the dish originally calls for rump steak and the flavor comes from the Béarnaise sauce but in 2023 we use entrecôte; THANKS. The steak should be able to stand alone on its flavor; period. Send it back you say? To do what? To magically produce a better raw ingredient, you don't have? I'm not going to wait over 20 minutes for a re-fire when my guests are plowing through under seasoned flounder. I'm going to cut the steak into small pieces, take the L, and just power through. Yep, the fish sucked too. All the dishes photographed well but there was an astonishing lack of seasoning. *** Dessert *** 4 Stars The Profiteroles with chocolate sauce helped to rescue the night. They were delicious and we wiped that plate clean too. When you combine the Profiteroles with A+ service, good wine, and an amazing CHARCUTERIE you end up with 3 stars instead of 1. Overall, we had a wonderful experience celebrating the birthday of our good friend.

Yelp
Even sitting outside on a nice day, was well situated, although inside would have been better. We ordered the anchovies, fettuccine and skate for 2 people. Everything was delicious and would return!

Yelp
The best thing I had at this place is Smorgasbord that you get to choose your own combination of meat and cheese so you don't stuck on the ones you don't like. I had the chicken liver mousse, rabbit rillette and lamb terrine, cheese names are not familiar so we asked for recommendations they Are all very good. For the main I had Bouillabaisse There's barely and squid in it and A piece of fish, there are a lot of broth but not much flavor to it and I don't know if should drink all of it or what to do with it. There's not much mussel flavor int he broth either despite with a bowl of mussels in it. My spouse had the steak there's barely 5oz of beef, portion is so tiny. And also over cooked. Service was fast but the seats are very tight the table is tiny you have to squeeze in the plate. Very tight spaces

Yelp
Grisette has been one of those restaurants that has been on my radar for a bit, but I just hadn't found time to actually dine there (mostly due to hours / having a toddler). However I am SO glad that in thinking through where to do our anniversary dinner that we were able to grab a reservation here because I think Grisette is now in my top restaurants of Richmond list.... Ok so what made Grisette so great!? First off, you can tell right away that everyone who works there is like a family and they are so passionate about what they do. We ended up sitting at the main bar and it was such a great vibe with 2 very friendly and extremely talented bartenders - and that's coming from an 8 month preggo lady who was treated so nicely with non alcoholic, custom drinks out of the kindness of their hearts. I mean come on, such a nice touch. The menu is very, very limited and this is one of the main reasons I think I had not prioritized coming here but everything on their menu that we tried was phenomenal and it made so much more sense why they keep things to a shorter list. We got the carrot salad, the steak frites, the fried pork rilette, and then both of the desserts (profiteroles and this special cake they were doing). Everything was spectacular and literally my thought as we finished each dish is when can I come back to eat this again??? All in all, Grisette is a restaurant you should not miss. I cannot wait to make this a regular spot for date nights when we can sneak out for a bite.

Yelp
Brother Rat Donnie has done a great service to Richmond with this restaurant. I didn't even realize he was the man behind the curtain until months later when I read an article about him. Came here on recent trip for a date night at recommendation of family, my first time dining out in Church Hill. Overall my experience was fantastic. The space and ambiance were delightful, especially the high ceilings and tall windows pouring in light. The space felt sophisticated while paying homage to the heritage of the neighborhood architecture. It was a little loud for my taste, so first dates beware... Food wise, everything was delicious. I really enjoyed the DIY smorgasbord which made my spouse happy as well since we could select what we both liked instead of being told what we get. Great job there. For main, of course I had to try the steak frites which were served in very generous portions. Meat was cooked to my liking, though a tad dry on the outside. Sadly had to pass on dessert, but next time I'll be sure to indulge. Highly recommend Grisette to locals and visitors alike.

Yelp
Me and my friend came here for dinner last night and it was really good. We ordered house cocktails which were great. Unfortunately the menu only was out of date so we had to replan what we were going to order. We also got the fish dip which was good but not GREAT. The smorgasbord on the other hand was fantastic and I would recommend to anyone. We then ordered the special which was a lamb chop covered in lamb sausage. This wasn't my favorite dish. There was a lot of fat on the lamb chop which made it really hard to eat. The sausage it was wrapped in on the other hand was great. Lastly we ordered the poached pear for dessert which was the star of the show. At the end of the meal my friend went to the bathroom and I was ordering an Uber. Some lady tan up to me and said 5 minutes and then ran away. I was assuming this meant the bar was closing in 5 minutes and it was a last call type of thing. My friend came back and then we sat at our table while waiting for the car. When it was about 3 minutes away the same lady came back and said I'm sorry but I really need to table right now. It felt a little forceful and I then realized the 5 minute remark was about the table. This whole interaction felt a little odd. We then stood on the sidewalk next to the table until the car came. Just keep in mind that they do stick to there time limit on the table.

Yelp
Drinks were great. service: could have been better. They forgot to bring one of our drinks and also never offered to turn on the heater. we had no idea those were available. we were so cold sitting outside. steak tartare: no flavor. needs salt. ribeye: officially worst ribeye Ive ever eaten in my life. it was cold when it was brought. not a good cut. not seasoned well. and it's pricey.

Yelp
I had a wonderful dinner at Grisette's tonight. The staff was very welcoming and the atmosphere is very charming and casual. I loved the use of mismatched plates and glasses. The restaurant is small so I recommend making a reservation. Some outdoor seating with heaters above the tables. The menu is small but everything looked delicious. The cocktail menu was interesting. Most of us ordered the steak frites which were delicious. One friend ordered the cod which was tasty as well. Street parking was easy.

Yelp
Let me start by saying the service was awesome!! I ran into some friends that were having the chocolate dessert and it looked good. They had a lot of empty seating but it was all reserved. They setup a small table outside of the front door for us. The steak and fries that came to the table was good per my guest. I had a red wine that was recommended, it was awesome. My guest had a Pilsner that was great. My meal, Beef Bourguignonne, was not good and potatoes were not cooked. I have never had it before- waiter recommended it. They quickly replaced it with an Italian dish that was better. The service was outstanding, but I do not like the food, maybe it was just food that I am not used to eating. I would go back for drinks though.

Yelp
***Food*** We had pasta. Lemon summer peas with pappardelle. Luxurious ribbons of silky tender pasta coated with a light lemony sauce with salty parm and fresh thinly sliced sugar snap peas. I was in piggy pasta heaven. ***Drinks*** So many drinks to choose from I don't remember what I ordered but it was delicious, boozy, and made me not want to go home. I'd definitely definitely definitely would come back again.

Yelp
Had the best experience here for dinner! Really small, cute atmosphere, and great food and drinks. We sat at the bar and loved our wait staff who recommended a great wine. We tried the smorgasbord (AMAZING) with all different types of cheeses, meats, bread, and pickles - highly rec. We also shared a Zucchini entree and steak & frites. Would love to come back here if I was in the area again!

Yelp
Perfect date night spot! Server was so kind and welcoming and some of the best food I've had in a long time. Steak and frites were delicious and fiancé said that the lobster ravioli was the best ever! Very accommodating to ensuring my meal was gluten free and staff was knowledgeable about cross contamination. This would be a weekly spot if I was a local!

Rob B.

Yelp
Extremely rude and incompetent staff. I almost got up mid-meal to just leave. Food was maybe 3/5 but the waitress was terrible. Forgot multiple things. Walked away as we were talking to her mid sentence. Ignored us on purpose. Never ever returning. Owner Donnie Glass is about to open "Beaucoup" - I'll avoid it too.
google avatar

Yelp
Hipster palace, house mixologist is off the charts, extensive value packed wine list. Food is even better!

Catherine W.

Yelp
Over-priced menu. Pretentious staff. Uncomfortable metal seats. Food was okay, but you should be wowed at those prices!
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I had a nice dinner with cocktails dining outside. We both feel much more comfortable eating in open air during this current COVID climate and this place offers an option to be outside. Each table is equipped with its own personal heater and fleece blankets are provided! We started with cocktails, French onion soup and bread with anchovies. Steak and frites and the special of the night, a dish of stewed beans and pork, were the mains of the night. The service was exceptional. The general manager was our server for the evening. She was very attentive, friendly, helpful and articulate. Thanks for a great experience! I'd love to see a better selection of craft beer to compliment the cocktail list, much like Alewife offers across the street.

Rachel N.

Yelp
Amazing time. Started with wine and finished with an amazing dessert. Can't wait to go back. I want to try the steak and frites.
google avatar

Yelp
Had the coq au vin - very delicious- cocktails are amazing- I had a martini that was great-

Cathie B.

Yelp
This was our first visit to Grisette but definitely not our last. The menu is small but our group of 4 got 4 entrees and charcuterie to share and everything was delicious. We finished up with profiteroles, so good! The service was great and overall the atmosphere was lively yet intimate.
google avatar

Bess R.

Yelp
Amazing amazing service - cannot recommend their waiters and their personalized recommendations enough. Felt well cared for and listened to! Food was awesome with splittable portions The charcuterie board is certainly enough for several people but is a must order Drink wise: they're all delicious! None of them are too sweet but the cup of Joseph was my personal favorite (slightly spiced and delicious) We were able to sit outside on the patio with personal heaters and blankets (which was a nice touch)
google avatar

Annie E.

Yelp
Best steak frites in RVA. The melt in your mouth steak, butter dipping sauce, and McDonald's-like fries are always on point. Great cocktails too!

Yelp
***My Favorites*** Another of my top choices for fine dining around Richmond. Like any of my favorite splurge meals, the environment is casual rather than stuffy. The interior is inviting and has cute French decor, and they have quite nice outdoor seating in a lovely area of Church Hill. A LOT of passion goes into this food, you can follow their instagram to see for yourself. Many dishes are tailored towards seasonal items and feel like a celebration of a quality ingredient. Flavors are simple, fresh, and nicely balanced. Overall, you get the feeling you are being served food by people who love to cook. What to order: changes with the season, but one consistent item I love to get is just a simple app-- Bread, Olive Oil, Anchovies.

Yelp
Happy anniversary to us, and we decided to celebrate at Grisette after I spied a photo of their ridiculously melty, perfect French onion soup on The Gram. Not such a spoiler alert: ordered it for a shared appetizer and it was amazing. Tasty broth, gooey, browned cheese, and yummy little croutons. Cocktails were well-balanced and delicious, check the specials board before you commit to the drinks menu. The bourbon-chartreuse-absinthe concoction I ordered sounded like something I would normally pass on, but I would've ordered 6 more if it were a different type of evening. I had the special, cassoulet with duck confit (my weakness) and it would've knocked my socks off if my husband hadn't ordered the mushroom ragout that I might order if I had to select a last meal. We shared a lemon tart for dessert and it was a completely unexpected almost crème brûlée like pastry that nonetheless was a perfect close to the meal. I did spy on someone else's table that they offer French press coffee, but alas, we'd already had a late cup, so we'll have to check it out next time. Service was fast and friendly, and the ONLY reason I took off a star is because I am losing my hearing from my time in the Navy and it was quite loud inside, so I had trouble holding a conversation. In the future, I think we'll opt to bring a blanket and brave the enclosed and heated outdoor seating.

Yelp
food and drinks were both amazing!(although the gnocchi could have had a bit more flavor) great ambiance and the service was spectacular!

Yelp
So this was awesome and a great ambassador of Richmond's food scene. First I had one of the most interesting and delicious cocktails I've ever had. It was called "drink your greens" it had a similar mouth feel to like a sour or a gin fizz. It was honestly spectacular to me. The second cocktail I had wasn't so successful "you got it chairman" which I think just doesn't work, flavors just seemed to fight one another, it was still interesting and did show me that cocktail people can trust the menu cocktails here, you won't get sugar bombed they are meant for People that love cocktails. Food time. The menu is small and they have specials as well that you might have to ask about. The meat and cheese there looks awesome and I almost just got that. But I ended up going with a ravioli with fresh ricotta and kinda a lobster bisque sauce. It was very very good, the flavor was a little different then I initially expected but once I settled into it, I really appreciated it. Everything tasted handmade with love and respect. From this experience I'd expect that all the food here has the same love put into it. I got the ice cream profiteroles for dessert, they were exactly what you'd expect. The ice cream was great, tasted homemade, you could see the vanilla bean in it. The profiteroles also tasted homemade. This might have been a quintessential version of this. However, I found out that I may not love ice cream profiteroles since I probably wouldn't get it again, but I also couldn't imagine it being done better. So there is that Anyways, don't hesitate to try this place. Its worth making a special trip for as well.

Yelp
Wonderful, everything was delicious, our server was cheerful and helpful. Recommend getting a reservation as the place is a little small but cozy.

Yelp
Was looking to try something new and Grissette was recommended. Was with party of 4 and we started with the Smorgasbord appetizer, which was sampler of meats & cheeses. Seemed pretty ordinary. One ordered the steak entree and was very pleased. Two got the rockfish and the verdict was meh. Fourth got pasta and gave it a thumbs up. Overall, give it 3 1/2 stars. Service was good and prices reasonable, but we don't live particularly close and, although the food was not bad, nothing about it was special enough that we would go back.

Yelp
The good: the best music selection out of all restaurants in Richmond. It was really well mixed with bangers and nostalgic tracks. The ambience was also very nice, very intimate and not too formal. The food: fine. Not amazing. I got the steak frites was not memorable. Friends got the lamb, it was such a weird cut with tons of fat and very little meat. The drinks: good selection of wines, some interesting cocktail options. Again nothing memorable. I think this is an ok choice for Church Hill. Nothing amazing. Good vibes. Maybe if we dine again the food would be better.

Yelp
We had one of our last meals here three years ago before moving out of the area. I've been following them on Facebook and am always enticed by the delicious looking food! So when back in town for a weekend, I had to make a visit! We loved sitting at the bar and conversing with the staff and other patrons! Such a friendly place! But the real reason we're here is the food. I ordered the skate and if you've never tried it, this is as good as it gets . Schweety's Steak frites was also fantastic! I could eat here every day!

Alan R.

Yelp
Great restaurant with amazing service and delicious food! We have had an awesome time whenever we have been there. It is often packed with no reservations available, but they still manage to fit you in as a walk in, no matter how busy they may seem. Be patient, be kind, and be willing to wait for a few while enjoying a tasty beverage and you won't be disappointed with your experience. We recommend Grisette to everyone who asks! We can't wait to dine there again, and hopefully soon!

Yelp
Covid review: waiters in masks, outdoor dining in shelters outsides seating 4, tables inside. Started with the bread and butter, crusty bread, smooth butter - always a good start. I went with the steak frites! Looks a little overdone on the outside, but perfect juicy medium rare in side, a little salad to break up the heaviness and fries with aioli sauce. Menu looks great, I will be back to try the rest
google avatar

Moon H.

Yelp
I am biased, maybe because my friend Al who frequents this place treated me for my birthday one of the most authentic experiences as if we were literally eating in France. We did omakase chef's choice without ordering from the menu. Wait staff was so pleasantly, and they allowed us to have our pups eating with us sitting outside just like how things would roll in France. I am biased. When are they getting a Michelin star?????? Where are those Michelin judges???
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite spot in Church Hill!!! Delicious food in an unpretentious atmosphere. The waitstaff is extremely helpful, and definitely know their wines! Do yourself a favor and just go.

Yelp
Everything was perfection. The cocktails were great and prepared well. We started off with the bread and cultured butter - highly recommend. The steak frites were delicious. The sauce was so good! We also had the roasted chicken, which was amazing with the potatoes. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Yelp
I've come here for birthdays, with friends who are visiting town, on dates, etc. and it continues to be a SOLID spot for food that somehow manages to beautifully merge comfort or something that's recognizable to most palates with innovative flavors, unlikely pairings, and just fun dishes that you can't (or likely won't) make at home....making it an instant favorite for everyone I bring. Aside from the food, the staff - from the kitchen to front of house and everywhere in between - are warm, knowledgeable, charismatic, and connected to one another and to their clientele in a way that helps to create a dining experience that's unique and memorable and so comfortable. Love this place, love these people, and love that we get to claim it as a Richmond classic/staple!

Yelp
First time here. Service was great - we had one of the managers (Kyle?) as our waiter and he was super nice. The cocktails were good- we stuck with the basic Negroni and a bourbon based drink which was tasty (Fireside Chat) My husband and I started with the steak tartare. Which was served with a few toasts. It was flavorful. I'm not a pro at steak tartare since I have it so infrequently but it was good. We did the Agnolotti pasta with mushroom which I really liked- was a light pasta option. We then ordered the steak frites and added shaved truffle to the steak. I thought the steak was delicious- definitely a medium portion though so the pasta was a good addition. What was a little confusing was the vibe- it was a French restaurant with 90s pop blasting in the restaurant. I think we thought we were going to a touch fancier of a joint - but it came off super casual and we were definitely overdressed. So maybe take that into consideration depending on the ambiance you're hoping for?

Yelp
The food wasn't quite as good as I expected but the service made it worthwhile. The drinks and atmosphere were wonderful.

Yelp
The staff of this restaurant are clearly committed to the experience and enjoy what they do. The intimate ambiance, delicious food and the crocodile head in the (very clean) bathroom proves they aim to please and they succeeded. Make the time to go to this restaurant.

Yelp
Delicious! Delightful! The cheese selections and the in-house cured meats (wow y'all... really creative) made for a real treat. Not run of the mill by any stretch. And our server was very knowledgeable as well. Indeed, I took my son (mid 20's) here for cocktails and dinner, and we both truly enjoyed the entire evening. My only criticism - and I know this inured to the benefit of those that came after us - was the gentle (but not quite so) prodding about limited time to dine - which made us feel rushed. We had cocktails, apps, entrees, and desserts, and after spending that much - as in $$$, I would have liked to linger and enjoy, not be ushered (even if politely) out. Again, I get it, another reservation will be grateful to be seated on time so it's only a slight issue. Just be aware. I just happen to be a slow eater and that makes it challenging. But... don't let that deter you visiting this little gem.

Yelp
best restaurant ive ever been to. andres, hannah, steph, eli, danessa etc all bring the best experience you could imagine. far better than any michelin starred experience we've ever had. i truly mean it. better than per se, better than emp and better than singlethread. this place is truly astonishing in terms of what it provides. wonderful food, wonderful service and wonderful wine. this restaurant certainly provides. thank you for providing such a treat so consistently! you truly understand what encourages a great local spot.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and professional. We arrived late without a reservation and they made us feel welcome and added a table on the fly. Everything that we were served was delicious. When we expressed interest in the cocktail that we ordered, Clay spent extra time with us describing how he had prepared it. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food and drinks here are absolutely incredible. Typing this feels like such a cliche understatement, but it's really, REALLY amazing. What also makes Grisette amazing is their incredible staff. Andres - you are amazing - so friendly, welcoming, funny, extremely knowledgeable. I will be back time and time again, and bring everyone I know. I love you Grisette! Thanks for the best steak frites of my life.

Yelp
Great gem in Church hill . Some friends and I enjoyed dining on the patio -- Delicious and beautifully plated food. The service was perfect as well! A must visit for anyone coming to Richmond.

Yelp
Loves the atmosphere here, very bistro ish. The service is breathtaking, by far the most professional and attentive I have experienced in Richmond in years. Made the whole dining experience with the visit. The menu is limited but interesting and expertly prepared. Excellent value. Bar craft is a highlight here, equal in every way to the cuisine. Pro tip.... Avoid the patio seating in cold weather, it's just too cramped and the heat lamps look like they will tan that head of yours. 5 stars for the service alone!
