Being my first time in San Francisco, I wanted a solo night out with great food and a nice vibe to treat myself. I sat at the sushi bar with Chef Julio, which was the best decision of my trip. The fish quality is incredible, featuring a mix of fresh local catches and premium imports from Japan. The hospitality sets this place apart. I spent the evening chatting with Chef Julio about his story. He is knowledgeable and warm. He even surprised me with several extra items to try, and each was delicious. The Dassai 39 paired perfectly with the nigiri, and the Alaskan roll, chu-toro and scallop nigiri were a few standouts. I had such a great time at the sushibar and chatting with other friendly guests and staff!. If you are in SF, you must visit Hakashi. I will 100% be back. Thank you, Chef Julio, for an unforgettable night.

I been to Hakashi twice now and both times have been for their Omakase. We’ve truly enjoyed both visits. The variety of fish presented in ever different way was amazing. Both times Julio was our chef and the two visits were completely different featuring what was in season and fresh. Julio is very passionate about what he serves and he does it well. He uses mainly fish and ingredients from Japan. Tonight one of the nigiri we had black throated perch, a very rare and expensive fish which I had one other time at a Michelin 3 star restaurant. Hokkaido uni, otoro tuna, caviar, Hokkaido scallops, and lobster were all on the menu tonight. Very attentive and friendly serve from Julio and Abel. They also have very extensive saki menu with many great bottles to chose from. We’ll be back again soon.

Get a seat at the bar, throw your hands up and let Chef Julio pick your plates and drinks! This place is a mix of fine dining and izakaya vibes from tokyo. Every plate chef Julio sent me was heaven. Say yes to whatever Chef Julio offers you. Pick this place if you're local, solo traveler or a serial dater. You wont regret it. This place is great!

I took my boyfriend here for a date night, and it was absolutely perfect! The fresh sushi rolls stole the show. We started with the gyoza, which were nice and crispy, had a bunch of their sushi rolls and topped it off with their cheesecake. The vibe is very cozy kinda set the mood for a romantic evening, and the attentive staff made our experience even better. This place is definitely a hidden gem.

I cannot recommend this place enough! The omakase was a wonderful experience and all of the dishes were fresh, delicious, and beautiful! Chef Julio and Nelson did a fantastic job with the food! They did a great job accommodating our party’s dietary restrictions, offering substitutions for dishes that some of our party members could not eat.

Not only the best sushi I’ve ever had, but one of best restaurants the Bay Area has to offer. An excellent service, food, and drink experience that will bring your Japanese pallet to the next level. No more words, just make your reservations… Like now!

What an incredible experience. This place is the definition of a hidden gem. Julio, the owner and chef, was amazing. He didn’t just serve sushi — he actually took the time to teach us about the fish, explain where it came from, and how it should be enjoyed. You can tell he genuinely cares about the craft and about giving guests a great experience. He had me try several things I’d never had before, and every single piece was outstanding. The fish was incredibly fresh and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Sitting at the bar and watching the care and detail that goes into each dish made it even better. If you love sushi and want something more personal than the typical restaurant experience, this is the spot. Great food, great vibe, and an unforgettable meal. Can’t wait to come back.

Came here on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised by our overall experience. We had reservations and got seated quickly with drink orders in. We had a bunch of Nigiri, our favorite being chu toro, hamachi, and mackerel. But everything we had was high quality cuts. The rice was perfectly done as well, which I feel like that ingredient gets overlooked often. The wakame salad salad was fresh and absolutely delicious. We sat at the sushi bars and the chefs were so fun to watch and nice to chat with. The price is very fair for the quality you get here. We will absolutely be making this our new go to local sushi spot. Highly recommend!

After attending an event at Chase center, we were craving some sushi and decided to check out Hakashi. When we arrived after 8pm, it was packed on a Thursday! We didn't have a reservation and waited around 30-40 minutes for a couple seats to open up, no biggie. If there's one thing you take from this review, make a reservation if you can, which is what I'll be doing next time I visit. What was sweet was that the staff acknowledged the long wait and apologized a ton, which honestly was much appreciated but not necessary. It's a busy restaurant, we had no reservations and we were happy to wait our turn! As for the food, we ended up getting a couple rolls which were hefty in size and quite tasty. The volcano roll was my favorite of what we got. The gyoza were exactly how I liked em, steam with a little bit of a toast for a nice crunch. We were confused on how the walu sashimi came as a single order but got two and we were filled up because the pieces were big! Definitely ate more than we wanted but we enjoyed every bite. If you are looking for quality sushi, good atmosphere, in a lively setting, Hakashi is a solid spot. We even spotted a local celeb, former Warriors player Baron Davis eating there!

The food was good. My Favorite item was the Tori Kara-Age (with a bit of freshly squeezed lemon). Service was slow but understandable due it being busy. (line out the door) Our waitress was hardworking and doing her best. Even though the service was slow, she was one of the highlights of my day. Thank you!!

The waitress recommended the Melanie's roll and the bites and her recommendations were on point. I ordered a Lion King roll which wasn't your typical Lion King roll - it was decent but not what I expected (less baked). I would order the Melanie's roll next time - every bite was a 10/10.

What an amazing place. I went with a client and we ended up getting the omakase. Expensive but worth it when the client company is paying! I ordered a sake that they didn't have but then I was told that it wasn't available. So then I had to order another one that wasn't my first choice. The sake was great and was brought out in a ice cooler with two sake glasses. My client ordered a beer. This story is better told through the pictures so check out my pictures for all the amazing great sushi and other dishes. We had so much food we couldn't even finish with the dessert! Love this place and definitely looking to come back here again another day. It's an amazing sushi place in the middle of SOMA.

So much to love about this little spot! I wanted a cool place for great Japanese cuisine and I got it (forgot to snap a pic of the outside!). I also didn't have any cocktails (surprise, surprise!) but the presentation of the ones passing by our table looked top notch. Pros: - Easy to find location - Nice ambiance, clean environment - Very good menu selection - Attentive staff - Taste of the food was excellent, portion sizes were about average - Prices were pretty reasonable Cons: - None I'm reeeally glad I found this place and I actually can't wait to return one day :)

Some gooood sushi! Came on a Saturday evening and it was pretty busy and only had 2 waiters. Despite that, both servers were really attentive and did their best at getting to our table. The place is pretty spacious and has such nice decor with a sushi bar. You can tell this is a spot for the locals. Hakashi roll: Good flavor, it almost tasted like chicken lol but the toppings were quite nice. 9/10 Melanie roll: my favorite roll of the evening. The fish was like butter and melts in your mouth. It had such a great umami flavor. Added some sriracha and it was the perfect roll. 10/10 Sunomono: it was very different from the other cucumber salads I've had at other sushi restaurants. I really liked how thinly sliced it was and the rice vinegar wasn't overpowering. The perfect refreshing appetizer.

I'd been craving sushi for a few days and came across Hakashi while looking up spots nearby. It had great reviews and wasn't too far, so we made a plan to stop by for a late dinner before heading out for the night--and it turned out to be the perfect way to kick things off. The place has a friendly, no-fuss vibe with tasteful decor. We were seated right away and warmly welcomed. We ordered the fried calamari, the Hakashi Roll, the Lion King Roll, and topped it all off with matcha ice cream for dessert. We also shared a bottle of strawberry sake, which was a fun touch. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and really hit the spot. The Hakashi Roll was especially great--the tobiko added a nice pop of flavor and texture. My personal favorite was the Lion King Roll--the seared salmon gave it a smoky touch that was perfectly balanced with the spiciness of the mayo. Everything came out quickly, and the service throughout was great. Definitely glad we found this place--would come back for sure.

Yummy and recommended: - garlic/soy steamed edamame - vegetarian fried dumplings - yuzu cheesecake Honorable mention: miso soup is yummy but unfortunately has fish stock! This is unusual for miso soup. Shoutout to the waitress for letting me know when I tried to order my own after trying a sip of my friend's.

I came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening and was seated immediately. We had the opportunity to try out their fried oysters, which aren't on the menu yet. I hope they add it to the menu because it was delicious! I had the fried shishito peppers and beef udon. Both were cooked well and filled me up!

Great sushi, specifically the fish is "melt in your mouth" good, buttery and fresh!! Got: - Caterpillar Roll - 49's Roll - Tempura Udon - Grilled Scallops (Appetizer) The Tempura was flaky and light, I never knew it could be like this till recently and definitely comparable to the ones I had in Japan. My favorite were the Grilled Scallops, the flavor was just perfect and I wish there was more!! Fish was fresh and made for amazing sushi, but don't skip their other options!

I came here at 5 PM to grab a table for 10 since they don't take reservations, and they were able to accommodate us without any issues. The service was fantastic--our server was incredibly attentive, friendly, and kept checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The food came out quickly, probably within 10-15 minutes after ordering, which was impressive given how busy they get during lunch and dinner. I ordered the chicken teriyaki plate, which came with miso soup, rice, vegetables, and salad. The chicken was perfectly juicy and flavorful. I also tried the dragon roll, and I loved that they added light soy sauce to the rice for an extra depth of flavor. Everyone in my group really enjoyed their meal, and we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend coming early to grab a seat since the restaurant has limited seating and fills up fast!

Hakashi is located in an interesting part of SOMA - near many tech offices and parking lots, but not much else. Passed by it many times, so decided to give it a try for dinner today. The 3 star rating is mostly just for how average the taste to price ratio was for San Francisco. Most of the food is decent at worst, but feels unfortunately average when compared to the price. Their Wendy's Ceviche, for example, feels like a 5* rating if it was priced lower. Service was...ok? I felt like my friend and I wasn't given much attention compared to the rest of the restaurant, which was...interesting. We were also one of the few Asians in there lol I won't be returning personally, but it's not a terrible Japanese inspired restaurant in the area. Though I do feel there are better options.

Very hip and friendly place! When we went there was a Japanese sake brand doing a trial run, so we enjoyed free drinks to boot! Everything was as you'd expect from a hip Japanese sushi place, but I am especially picky about ikura and the ikura they had here was fantastic!

Chef Julio and the entire team do an amazing job. This is by far the best sushi on the west coast. I always come when I am in town. From the food, the atmosphere, and the service, Hakashi always delivers. Cheers!

An AMAZING experience! Shout out to chef Julio, Abel, Raul and the whole crew for making my casual lunch so fun. Came in and sat at the bar and ordered a chirashi and set of chuturo nigiri (shout to chef Abel for my original lunch). Chef Julio came in and we started chatting and he recommended some sake and some fresh bites / an "omakase light" if you will on top of the lunch I already had and I did NOT regret it. Tried some wagyu, some otoro and chuturo, some aji, hotate and had a lot of sake. Jealous I didn't go with an omakase from the start, I didn't realize I could do it but they do offer omakase for lunch (and not just dinner like most spots, highly recommend)! Some of the best bites I've had and chef Julio is so knowledgeable about the fish profile, the different preparation styles, and just so fun to be around. I cannot name my favorite bite bc everything was so fresh and so good - also shoutout to chef Raul for making a 10 minute lobster risotto! If you're in town, please check out this amazing spot! They also have a second location in Walnut Creek. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

Made same day reservation for 5:30pm on a Friday. Restaurant was 80% full. Menu via QR code. For appetizer we ordered the wagyu bone marrow - $25. It came with 2 itty bitty toasts. Wish it came with a couple more. The uni and caviar were divine. Also ordered the chirashi don which came with 3pcs of 5 different fish and ikura over rice, some pickle, seaweed and ginger. Good portion size. Fish was fresh. Rice was a lil hard tho. Tried an assortment of nigiris from $6 to $9 a pcs. Very fresh. Appreciated they fried the sweet shrimp head but it was dripping in oil. Santa Barbara uni - $10 for 2pcs was delicious. Finished the meal off with a slice of yuzu cheesecake - $7.50. Small, sweet and not much yuzu flavor. Service was good. But not very attentive, glasses could be cleaner.

A decent option for Japanese in SOMA. Food is overall pretty comparable in quality to most standard Japanese restaurants in the city. Although, I found Hakashi to be on the expensive side given the smaller portion sizes. Our favorite of the night was the Gindara Misozuke, the miso glazed black cod. It was so flavorful and tender, one of the better ones that we've had. The grilled octopus was a runner up. The rolls were mediocre and nothing to write home about. I am glad to have tried Hakashi, but given the food was a hit or miss I don't l think I will be returning anytime soon.

Great place for dinner, dinner dates, gatherings, and celebrations. The sushi is consistently fresh and delicious. We always have the omekasae and have never been disappointed. Chef Julio sets up an inviting and social vibe, meeting and chatting with many new friends. It's a truly a special place!

I recently discovered this place and loved it! The sushi is out of this world. Everything I had was so fresh and delicious. Each of The nigiri is seasoned perfectly and the red vinegar on the sushi rice makes it even better. The price was pretty on point for the quality. The bone marrow with caviar and uni was decadent and delicious but the portion made me craving more. We also tried the yuzu cheesecake and it was light and floral as expected. Will have to come back to try more of the appetizers and the omakase!

I just had the BEST Experience at Hakashi, The Blue Fin Tuna show was Amazing and the Omakase and Sushi were to die for! Will Forsure Make this my Sushi destination everytime im in the City! Staff is very friendly and helpful loved the enviorment Thanks Hakashi!

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Came here for a late lunch and the sushi did not disappoint. Service was quick and food came out fast. We ordered: - Chicken Karage: would skip on this. The chicken was not crispy at all, but the inside was juicy. - House Poke-Don: really enjoyed this! fish was super good and fresh, and lots of it! perfect amount of rice under. - One of the specialty rolls (can't remember the name): also be dry good, no complaints!

Been coming here back to back. Best sushi experience in the bay! Edomae sushi style is the best in the country plus the service. Julio the sushi monster and his team have been exceptional!! Ricky and Camille are awesome. They predict customers needs like it's nothing. Awesome place!!

Hakashi is hands-down one of my favorite spots in all of SF -- and it has been from the very beginning. My husband and I first discovered Hakashi three years ago when we celebrated our anniversary with the omakase, and we've been hooked ever since. Every dish that night was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and thoughtfully explained by Chef Julio himself. That experience set the bar so high, I became a regular ... and that bar has never dropped. Chef Julio consistently delivers top-quality fish and seasonal ingredients at unbeatable prices. Whether you're a sushi purist or trying something new, there's something for everyone. Even during my pregnancy, I kept coming back because the non-raw options are just as delicious. (Their tempura is some of the best I've had -- light, crisp, and tasty!) Some of my personal favorites you must try: * The Melanie Roll * The Hakashi Roll * The Mushroom Tempura * The Diago Shot * All nigiri/sashimi It's also the perfect spot to grab a bite before or after a Giants or Warriors game -- great energy and a menu that never disappoints. The staff make the experience even better. Chef Julio, Nelson, and Eddy are always serving up incredible food, and Camille welcomes everyone with the warmest smile. You truly feel like family here. I can't recommend Hakashi enough!!! it's a gem that keeps getting better with time.

Every time I am in SF, I make an effort to come here... the sushi is absolutely amazing. My go to here is O-toro (Fatty Tuna) and Sake (Salmon) so very tasty. The service is fast and friendly, very attentive. It's decorated in Japanese style, small but intimate seating area. Highly suggested you make a reservation. 10/10 for this place.

Stopped in this place while in SF and glad I did! I am a sushi lover and critic and this was some darn good sushi! I got the Melanie roll and wish I got 2! It was excellent! The gyozas were warm and full of flavor and I also loved how large and crispy the calamari were! Definitely recommend you stopping in. The staff are friendly and the food came out pretty quick.

Came here yesterday for lunch and seated by the window (which has always been my preference). My friend and I ordered king oyster mushroom tempura and monkfish liver for appetizer. Both were good. We then ordered saba shioyaki and poke bowl for lunch. We liked everything we ordered and the price is reasonable and cheaper than other restaurants. It's 4 stars because there's only 1 person serving and he sometimes forget to get back to you. I still recommend this place! :)

Hakashi Japanese Sushi Bar was one of the best places that didn't need my reservations, less of course it's for the omakase experience. Walk-ins are welcome, cash was accepted, and I got to choose what nigiri I'm dying to try so badly! It's good to dine on raw fin fish and shellfish once again! If not, then I might opt to ask for a different menu option that has appetizers and sushi rolls. Time to cut to the chase. I ordered half a dozen nigiri from the special menu. I was surprised to see that I have over five different types on a rectangular plate. Maybe the red clam was the most special. Nice work-of-art presentation, all were prepped in soy sauce and on point. The raw oyster I had looked at and tasted so good; maybe I should have half dozen of these next time. The sea urchin from Hokkaido, Japan, tasted so light and rich in flavor. For dessert, the matcha tiramisu was amazing and absolutely authentic. Though I made mocktails and lattes out of green tea powder, I will one day learn how to bake using the culinary grade. Gotta hand it to the men in black tshirts inside the sushi counter. They did so well together. A couple of women servers did a great job taking care of us customers, even during women's history month. I might come back to the same ancient wooden door as Hakashi is a warm welcome to my endless love for sushi.

We stumbled across this sushi spot because it was near an event we were attending. Saturday night, no reservations and we were lucky to find a seat at the bar. Sushi was delicious. If we had time we'd def would have ordered the omakase. People next to me were enjoying it and I wanted in! Next time. Really fresh ingredients. The chefs had pride in their work and the service was seamless.

Saw the reviews of this place weren't too bad so decided to try given we live near. The rolls were decent but the Hamachi Collar and Squid were very subpar. For a sushi place like this, I'd much prefer a place like Live Sushi or Elephant Sushi. The rolls were ordered: Melanie's Roll and Alaskan Roll.

Cute little sushi spot in walking distance from our hotel. There is ample seating and plenty to look at. We ordered a few different rolls and the teriyaki beef lunch special. The meat was very flavorful and tender. We also ordered the edamame, which was great. Everything was delicious. The service was great, very friendly and prompt. Definitely worth it.

Came here with a party of 3 on a Tuesday for early dinner. The restaurant filled up pretty quickly throughout our dinner. We primarily ordered rolls. We ordered 4 rolls: double hamachi, Hakashi, lion king, and caterpillar roll. My favorite roll was hakashi roll, which is telling as it does share the same name as the restaurant. My least favorite of the rolls was surprisingly caterpillar roll (surprising because I do like eel) because the roll was a lot smaller in size compared to the others. The food overall was good, and I didn't really leave feeling that full, which could be a good or bad thing. The service was pretty standard; nothing too crazy to note. Next time, I would be down to try their omakase. It was not listed on the menu, but it does say inside the restaurant that they do have omakase.

Hakashi consistently raises the bar on Omakase experience. Innovative dishes made with the freshest of ingredients. The quality is beyond what you'd expect - even in a foodie town like SF. I couldn't recommend Hakashi enough.

disappointed in our dinner. most of the raw fish was chewy and had a strange taste, and i had to spit out a hamachi cut as it tasted like alcohol? and after dinner we had indigestion. for an evening during the week, the service was sluggish while the waiter was visibly on his phone . my boyfriend was raving about this place, but he's decided to not come back again when he's in the city.

Have been here a couple times for dinner and it always tastes amazing! Made a reservation the day of, just in case, as the restaurant fills up fast and was able to get a spot for 6 pm on a Tuesday night. The restaurant is very modern and pretty spacious. After sitting down, we looked at the QR code menu and ordered with the staff who was super nice and checked if some items we ordered were available. Melanie Roll - One of my favorites to order there every time. It comes with different fish like yellowtail, salmon and hamachi which all give different textures and bring such an unmatched freshness to the dish. It also has a little bit of spiciness and sweetness as well. Hakashi Roll - This roll came with tuna and seared escolar, a white tuna. It was a tasty balance of smokiness, sweetness from the unagi sauce and had a hint of spiciness from the tuna. The other toppings they added like black tobiko and sesame seed added more layers to each bite. Chawamushi - The egg steamed custard came out a little later topped with unagi and had lobster inside. The custard itself was bouncy and was so silky smooth. Mixed together with the unagi, you get some sweetness to it but with the lobster, you get a nice rich bite where both complemented the light custard. Each roll was about 18 dollars and definitely the prices are worth it for the quality of fish they give you. Great for a date night or dinner with friends and am so ready to go back to try their omakase or other dishes!

Omekase here is DELICIOUS. We sat at the bar and the chefs were so nice and explained everything. I have absolutely nothing to complain about. At $160 per person, you expect something outstanding and it was.

Very fresh sushi! When I arrived I was seated right away! The staff were amazing! So nice and recommend great drinks! The sushi was so fresh! Probably some of the best I've had in a long time! Check this spot out!

TL;DR: I wouldn't go back again but service was extremely friendly and they seem to be the place to go for American sushi rolls in the area We went for dinner a little later on Saturday evening and got seated at the bar right away. The restaurant was quite crowded, possibly because there was a Giants game that evening, but the crowd seemed pretty mixed overall. The servers were extremely busy and we got service from the chefs behind the counter who were really friendly and sweet. They also move at the speed of light and were really fast in filling orders! The food was fine-mediocre. I expected much more based on the excellent rating this spot has but alas. We got some mushroom tempura on the house which was very nice of them, and we also ordered a separate platter of tempura. The tempura was fine and what you'd expect from a neighborhood Japanese spot, hot, fresh and crispy. The miso marinated salmon collar was also quite tasty, though it was a pretty small portion. The sushi / chirashi bowl though... The rice was not undercooked but was hard anyway, and was very heavily seasoned with vinegar which threw off the balance of flavors completely. The fish was an acceptable quality but really didn't benefit from the over seasoned rice. The rolls we got were not wrapped well and rice was spilling out from the roll - it was fairly generously filled with fish I suppose, but the messy rolls made me sad. When I dug in to the chirashi bowl, I was surprised by the rather generous amount of fish though I was also surprised by how there was no tuna included. I also didn't appreciate truffle oil/salt getting added to the ikura since I couldn't taste the ikura at all. We also got a rainbow roll which was fine at best but I honestly couldn't tell that it was actual crab in the crab salad. Overall, I left wanting more. With much better options in the area, I'm not as likely to return. Food: 2/5 Service: 3.5/5 Price: 3/5

Solid sushi - really fresh and really well prepared. Service was attentive and helpful - but not pushy. Sake recommendations were on point, and everyone had a great time. Don't be fooled - this place is legit and better than most. Check it out - you won't regret it.

SO GOOD! I didn't expected their omakase menu is such a strong combination! with reasonable price, I should say I will definitely come back again and again! Their service is really sweet, coz my friend has allergy to some of fish, and they switch to other dishes for her, all comes so good! we all really enjoy the dinner in here! The ambiance is 8/10, all interior is looks a bit old compare with other SF Japanese sushi place, but the vibe in here is warm and cozy.

My best friend and I sat at the bar and ordered the lighter Omakase. Chef Julio and his team created some of the most innovative complex intentional flavors combined with creative textures and the freshest most buttery fish ... easily the best sushi we have had in quite some time. Some of our nigiri favorites included the seasonal "cherry trout" (such a unique flavor!), the seared salmon belly. Yet even the cooked items really shined including the wagyu bone marrow, with the creative additions of cavier, uni, and pickle. Loved how Chef explained the unique fish and flavors, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Highest recommendation, and while a bit of a splurge, go for the omakase, you will not be disappointed!

It was a nice surprise to meet Chef Julio! Julio is one of the most knowledgeable sushi chef we have ever met! The omakase experience was phenomenal. We used to visit the most famous omakase restaurants once every month before pandemic. Also we loved traveling to Japan for food. But sushi Chef like Julio are still rare to find. We enjoyed the communication while we were waiting for the next piece of sushi. We will definitely come back with our families and friends!

Was working around mission bay and found myself wandering about for some decent food for lunch. Saw this place on yelp and ended up walking about 8 min to get there. I came in with a chirashi bowl on my mind anthis place did not disappoint. The service was great and what i believe was the head chef offered me a free mushroom appetizer as i was sitting alone at the bar. It was delicious. Will definitely be back!

Very good food and service clean simple but complex flavors... Had a 10 course omakase meal i thought i was in Japan... If u want the best experience sit at the bar and let the chef guide your taste buds! I be back loved the food and the sake u selected Chef ITAMAKIDASU GOIZAIMASU! SUPER SUGOI and MEGA MASARAP... cheers and enjoy!!!

Amazing experience of sushi and drinks!! The owners came to our table and shared some delicious sake!! Great and fresh fish, the fish are best, the sushi rolls the the 49ers and lion king are on another level. You should try it!!

Ordered DoorDash from here for our family. We got most of the specialty rolls and a few other apps and other nigiri. One world to describe everything - mini. The portions were laughable. Nigiri was soooo tiny! Our usual local spot in Danville has huge long hunks of fish coming off the rice and this was the length of my pinky. The dessert was honestly theft. $7.50 for a cheesecake slice that was the length of a soy sauce packet. I took a pic to prove it. For $200 of takeout (obviously no drinks) we had zero leftovers and no one was very full. Sad value. Will not return!

I'm visiting San Francisco for a conference, staying in the Financial District. My son and I were craving sushi and didn't want to go too far, so happy we stumbled upon Hakashi! This place was busy, and pretty lively. The place is super clean, and the sushi chefs were making sure everyone was having a good time. Now the sushi... oh man so good! I'm not often surprised by a meal, but I did not expect this place to be as good as it was! All the nigiri was great, but the rolls were fantastic. Usually that isn't the case, but they really worked on these and made sure they were all very good. We especially liked the Hakashi roll and the Madeline roll. All the fish was super fresh and the rice was tasty. If I'm in town again, I'd definitely go back!
