The Best Food at Seattle’s Pike Place Market | Eater Seattle

"Last year, famed restaurateur Tom Douglas recently turned Etta’s Big Mountain BBQ into an old-school steak-and-oysters joint. The most notable thing here is the happy hour menu: From 3 to 6 p.m. oysters are $2 and maybe more importantly the burger, $27 on the unhappy hour menu, is just $15. This is a grown-up burger too, not a “smash” burger, an impressive patty of juicy meat with the regular burger fixings plus some tartar sauce for a dose of tartness." - Harry Cheadle

Where to Find the Best Happy Hours in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Famed restaurateur Tom Douglas recently turned Etta’s Big Mountain BBQ into an old-school steak-and-oysters joint and it’s coming out of the gate with incredible happy hour specials. Seattle’s Best Seafood Restaurants | Eater Seattle

"After a brief post-quarantine barbecue detour, Tom Douglas returned the former Etta’s space to its seafood roots, with a rotating slate of featured local oyster farms and a variety of fish preparations. Coho salmon with hazelnut romesco is distinctly PNW, the smoked black cod with fennel jam and sour cream evokes smorrebrod, and white sturgeon caviar service is classic high-roller fare. If you’re thinking, “Caviar? In this economy?!” then try the happy hour fried oyster slider, a delicately battered, flash-fried Hama Hama served with a swoop of bright remoulade on a house-baked pull-apart roll. It sounds simple, but it’s a sleeper hit." - Mark DeJoy

Seattle Just Got a Wave of Hot New Oyster Bars | Eater Seattle

"Pike Place Market-adjacent, Half Shell channels East Coast and New Orleans oyster traditions to bring a more oyster-forward presence to the ambience of a Seattle fish house, with Tom Douglas and chef/managing partner Eric Tanaka aiming to make oysters feel like an essential, casual part of the dining scene rather than a rarified special-occasion item; Half Shell is also part of the trio offering $24 dozens during happy hour to help lower the perceived barrier to enjoying oysters." - Mark DeJoy

Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings

"Surprise: a raw bar and seafood restaurant has opened at Pike Place. Double surprise: it’s another Tom Douglas venture. This spot replacing Etta’s Big Mountain BBQ has dishes like a $95 seafood tower, manila clam toast, and a very thick grass fed cheeseburger—because what's a TD place without one? " - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo

Google
Stopped by for a quick bite during their Oyster Happy Hour, and it was fantastic! The oysters were incredibly fresh and paired perfectly with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. My husband and I ended up having a dozen each because they were so good. We also tried the roasted oysters, which had a nice kick of spice and a lovely crunch. Despite the place being quite busy, the staff remained patient and provided excellent service. Overall, a great spot for Happy Hour!

Google
Half Shell is a gem tucked along the edges of Pike Place Market, and it makes a strong case for becoming a regular stop—especially during happy oyster hour. The oysters were expertly shucked, fresh, and properly presented, exactly what you hope for at a seafood-focused spot. What surprised us most, though, were the other menu highlights. Alongside the expected seafood offerings sits a genuinely impressive burger with hand-cut fries that more than holds its own. It’s the kind of unexpected standout that makes the meal feel even more memorable. Service was excellent from start to finish—warm, attentive, and welcoming without ever hovering. The cocktail program also deserves a nod, offering creative spins on classics and martinis that feel thoughtful without being fussy. Half Shell delivers far more than just oysters, making it a smart and satisfying stop near Pike Place.

Google
Absolute love this place! The happy hour is a great value. The oysters were amazing and so was the service and the views! The drinks were great too! Our server Brett was knowledgeable and very proactive! Definitely check it out!

Google
Arrived at 5:15pm w/no reservations so would not accomodate two people but the bar was empty (so was the restaurant). 6 oysters ($12) were nice size, fresh and fantastic!; Shrimp slider ($7) beautifully presented and not too much dressing and could taste the shrimp; Mini Crab roll ($15) was a little doughy and a lot of dressing but still tasty. Rose paired ($14/glass) was crisp and cold. Big drawback was the family waiting for their take-out and their kids would NOT stop screaming. No babies. Kids being unruly and the hostess wouldn't (but could have) asked them to wait outside - it's August and it was beautiful weather. Still not many tables filled during the hour at the bar.

Google
Incredible happy hour. $2 oysters can’t be beat. The service was friendly and attentive. Our group had a great time here. The raw oysters were amazing, as well as the cooked oyster, Dungeness crab rolls, and the dip. I can’t wait to come here again.

Google
Excellent quality food. The oysters and chowder are excellent, the vibes and service are both great. Broccoli is also good, but we had a few bites that were overly salted. Try the fries if you get a chance.

Google
Happy Hour at Half Shell was such a vibe! 🤩 We dove right into their amazing oyster selection. The Happy Hour Wildcat oysters were super fresh and tasted like a dream. 🌊 I also tried the Hama Hama oyster, and wow, it was a true delight! 🤤 For something a bit different, the crab roll was packed with flavor. Seriously, you *have* to try it. 🦀 The Coho salmon was delicious, however, the gnocchi could benefit from additional cooking time. The sauce's flavor profile would be enhanced by further searing the mushrooms.

Google
After walking all around pikes market our stomachs started to grumble, so we made our way over to half shell for happy hour. Service was top notch - friendly and attentive - and we were sat very quickly. The oysters were so good - with great accompaniments. The steak frites were fine but not amazing - I blame myself for not choosing a seafood entree. Their happy hour mini crab rolls were definitely the highlight! If we are ever back in Seattle I’ll definitely come back.

Yelp
We were visiting Seattle and, on our walk back to our Air BnB we passed this place and it was advertising happy hour oysters for $2. You can't pass that up and we didn't! In fact we had happy hour here 3 days in a row. They are right past Pike Market Place so a very short walk if you're in the area. Happy Hour is from 3-6 and the oysters are $2. The only catch is you can't pick the oysters. They have one type of oyster a day that is part of the happy hour price. However it is a good variety. We had 3 different kinds on our 3 back to back visits. The three we had were Pacific XS, Skookum and Pickering Passage. We ordered anywhere from a dozen to a dozen and a half on each visit. I also had a really good Sour on the first visit and my honey had a local beer each time. I can't say enough good things about the oysters. We don't have many fresh oysters where we live so this was such a treat for us. Every oyster was so creamy and I swear we had to comment after each one how good they were! We only ate oysters here so no idea how anything else is on the menu. If you like oysters this is the place to go if you're in the area.

Yelp
Food 10! Service 10! Ambiance 10!! This was our dinner experience around day two or three and we were completely overwhelmed with the amount of food and the fact that it was so delicious

Yelp
Sitting here on a drizzly dreary early Saturday evening, during a work trip, and always happy to tuck into a bunch of uber fresh and oceanic oysters. Happy hour here is 3-6 PM nightly, $2/oyster and they are serving wild cats tonight. A lucky bakers dozen (13) and all of a sudden the overcast, grey skies are gone away... Highly recommended bar area. Staff couldn't be more professional and nice!

Yelp
We went during happy hour and luckily there wasn't a wait. We also got seated facing the window so we had a nice view of the water. I believe the raw oysters were $2 during this time and there were some other foods/drinks that were also cheaper Raw oysters: 5/5. I forget which type of oyster it was but I thought it was really good Roasted oysters: 4/5. These were really good but pretty saucy. Just personal preference but I preferred the raw oysters

Yelp
Oysters oysters and more oysters. These were fantastic fresh oysters. They have a $2/oyster deal and we enjoyed 3 dozen oysters! Comes with standard oyster condiments - lemon, vinegar with onion, tabasco. We were looking for oyster happy hours and decided on this place on Pike Street. It was a safe choice! No food poisoning reviews lol. They were very busy on Saturday evening and it was hard to flag down a server to order more oysters or pay our bill. Indoors is charming and very bright, considerably quiet.

Yelp
Stumble upon this little gem and they were serving happy hour oysters so we were sold. I love raw oysters and nothing beats happy hour oysters. Outdoor seating is an option but we chose to sit indoor and the inside was so cute and well decorated. The service was phenomenal and friendly. For food, we ordered the warm pull-apart potato rolls which were super soft and comes with butter on a half shelf, parmesan roasted Brussel sprouts and two dozen of their happy hour oysters. The oysters were super fresh, sweet and salty and delicious. I'd definitely be coming back!

Yelp
My fiancé and I stumbled upon this place while looking for a seafood dinner in Seattle. We walked in around 8pm on a Friday night and thankfully they had plenty of seating at the time. They have a very spacious business, with indoor seating and also a small patio in the front to get more of the people watching experience outdoors. We opted to sit inside and got a cute table on the corner that felt very cozy and intimate despite the large size of the place. The ambiance is elevated casual, with warm wood furniture and calming blue accents. Service was excellent from when we walked in. Our waitress was patient and well informed about the menu options/ helped us make a few choices. We ordered: - Roasted oysters: first of all these were GIANT. Juicy, full of flavor, came out steaming hot. The spices in the butter are warm and the crisp breadcrumbs are elite, giving them a crispy texture. Squeezed a little lemon on them to bring a nice acidic contrast. Excellent! - Fresh oysters: we got 4 each to try, two on the sweeter side and two on the more tart side. I tend to favor brinier oysters but these were all so good I actually found myself possibly liking the sweeter ones better? Incredibly high quality! Would come back just for the oysters. - Ahi tuna crudo: a little app with some tuna and anchovies. This reminded me of the flavor of pickled herring so definitely more emphasis on pickled/briny flavors. Quite different from tuna crudos I'm used to but still very good. Not my preference in terms of flavor profile but high quality and well presented! - Dungeness crab roll: Okay, this was a showstopper. We ordered just one to split and, once I started eating it, I really wish we had ordered two. The bread was pillowy and soo buttery. It was filled with this delicious crab salad that just melted in your mouth and had generous amounts of sweet crab meat. It also comes with these delicious fries on the side that were also soo addictive and some tartar (?) sauce. Truly phenomenal. - Black cod: another star dish! Super tender, and buttery flesh-- cooked to perfection! The skin was crispy and flavorful. The spring artichoke stew with salsa verde made this dish feel so bright, light, and refreshing. Phenomenal quality in all their ingredients. Perfect for spring/summer. - Coconut cream pie: we ended with the most decadent piece of coconut cream pie that was just divine! Sweet but not overwhelmingly so. The coconut bits were generous, the cream was fluffy, the crust was crispy (and not too buttery , more on the dry side). This dessert was amazing and well balanced, perfect way to end our meal. Overall, this was one of my favorite meals during my short stay in Seattle! Very impressive considering it's in a very touristy area (figured it could be hit or miss). The quality of seafood is top notch and all the dishes are well prepared with phenomenal flavors. Kind and welcoming staff. Perfectly located in an area that is walkable and has plenty around it. Will come back whenever I'm in Seattle!

Yelp
My partner and I had a friend's gf visiting from NYC and naturally she wanted to try what we're known for in the PNW- seafood! We found Half Shell after scrolling on Yelp and were drawn in by their daily happy hour which takes place from 3-6pm. It's located right next to Pike Place and you can eat with a slight view of the water. We started off with the Dirty Martini Dip which was light and the perfect size for four people. And because we hadn't eaten all day, we ended up with two rounds of two dozen fresh oysters. A dozen for each person! Our friend from NYC loved them and was surprised at how buttery and fresh they were. The last thing we got were the Roasted Oysters which I would probably pass on next time. I felt like the bread crumbs on top made it feel like I was chewing on sand despite knowing the oysters were clean. Overall, this is a solid happy hour and I wish I got to try more!

Yelp
This spot has a great location by the waterfront but the only thing is that it's definitely a fight for parking if you're coming by car. The happy hour oysters were very good and would recommend coming during that time slot. I also liked the heirloom tomatoes side dish because the goat cheese had an interesting texture and flavor that paired very nicely.
google avatar

Lorrell W.

Yelp
We found this restaurant looking for a seafood option that could accommodate our party of eight. Seeing the martini dip on the menu sealed the deal! Our server was great and our interactions with another server helping her was even better! The crab roll was the winning entree for the evening and I was so glad I ordered it. Seriously SO good! I ate five crab and/or lobster rolls on my trip and this was by far the best! The restaurant is right next to Pike's Market, so you can check out the market before you eat and take in ocean views if you'd like. I'd go again!

Yelp
Oh. My. LANTA. What a find. What a happy hour. We're from baltimore so we're massive oysters fans, this is our first adventure into pacific oysters and it was AMAZING. The happy hour features 2 buck shucks. And discounted cocktails. 24 oysters and 4 cocktails later my partner and I are full and thriving. We sat at the bar and had the best service from Matt! The whole restaurant is honestly such a vibe. Very low key and cozy but still feels like a treat. With this being so close to Pikes place there's no excuse not to come here and experience this DELIGHT. 12/10. Will probably be back tomorrow.

Yelp
Half Shell on Western Avenue is a great seafood restaurant with great cocktails. The Caesar salad is delicious and creative. Great burgers, great chowder, and great desserts!

Yelp
Went here for Seattle restaurant week and ended up getting one of the set menus and ordering stuff off the happy hour and regular menu that we wanted to try and do family style. This spot was really nice and well decorated and is so close to pike place and you can see the water from inside the restaurant. But overall we thought the food was very mid. Definitely skip the green beans bc some of the worst green beans I've had, not that they tasted bad but just no flavor and our server even noticied we didn't eat very much of it. The steak frites were solid. The seafood sampler was ok. The baked oysters were alright, little too much breadcrumbs for me. The oysters were good. The dessert was weird and I actively disliked it, the bottom of the cake tasted very herby like rosemary but the top was sweet and I didn't like the mix. Overall I'd probs come back for oysters and maybe try the crab roll but nothing else.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here on a friend's recommendation and WOW -- we're so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was stunning. It felt fancy yet cozy, with super cute décor and would be perfect for a date night. As a huge oyster lover, I can confidently say these were some of the best I've had -- fresh, perfectly balanced, not too salty or fishy, just right. We also got the mussels and they were absolutely delicious. The flavors were spot on! We came during happy hour, which was such a great deal -- especially considering how high-quality everything was. The cocktail of the day was a Blue Milk-inspired drink (Star Wars fans, you'll appreciate this!) and it was SO good -- creative, refreshing, and totally unique. The service was also amazing. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel special. We'll 100% be back next time we're in Seattle. Highly recommend if you love oysters or just want a great spot with vibes, drinks, and fantastic food!

Yelp
Came for HH (3-6) and enjoyed our time in part due to our servers (John & Serg) and the HH options. We were able to find seats at the bar and were promptly greeted with the HH menu, drink menu, and dinner menu along with a brief explanation as to our options. We decided on two of their daily special oysters which were $2 each. I'm not much of an oyster expert but my wife said they were good quality. I also ordered the $15 burger and the $9 fries on the HH menu. Both were good, the fries were thick cut and we sprinkled malt vinegar over them. They came with a mayo and ketchup option. The burger was juicy and filling. My wife also ordered the HH crab roll. Similar to a cold lobster roll, small, but flavorful. She ordered a mini-tini with a pickle taste and enjoyed it. I got a hef beer, which was also good. Certainly not an inexpensive option, but expected for the area. Would recommend!

Yelp
Tail end of a girl's trip and popped in for happy hour oysters and this place did not disappoint! Sat at the bar and enjoyed our bartender Matt (kinda of awesome ). We all opted for oysters, mini crab rolls, French fries, and dirty martini dip...and whoa! Not one bit of disappoint! Outstanding customer service, delicious food, and great ambiance! I must say...make sure to stop by!

Yelp
$2 Happy Hour Oysters. End of review. I kid, but for real though, that happy hour pulled us in off the street when we weren't even hungry. The power of the $2 oyster. The restaurant is open and inviting, and I adore all of the shells around the bar. Such a cool touch! For being as close as they are to Pike Place Market the prices were crazy reasonable, and I hope to visit again very soon to take advantage again of the TWO DOLLAR OYSTERS.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and great service! This was my first stop as a sit down meal in Seattle and let me tell you, very few places wow'ed me as much as this place did in terms of price, service, and food especially considering how close it is to Pike Place. The happy hour oysters are a must! There's a few spots you can get HH oysters but this is just a great spot to people watch and they have other delicious HH bites too (e.g that fried oyster slider with a yummy rémoulade).

Yelp
Living just minutes from the area. My husband and I walk nearby frequently. The happy hour sign always appealed to us. Finally we gave Half Shell a try, and we LOVED it. My partner gave it a 10/10. He definitely wants to come back. The service was quick and our server was so nice. The ambiance is so cute and fresh. Good vibes, it did not feel crowded no matter how busy they were. Happy Hour (3pm-6pm) Order: A Dozen Oysters (2 dollar oysters) 2 Roasted Oysters (wish we ordered more, these were SO good) 2 Crab Rolls (light fluffy bread, fresh herbed crab) Total: $68
google avatar

Yelp
The best reason to come here is the happy hour oysters--fresh, delicious, and a fantastic deal. From the regular menu, the wedge salad tasted good but felt overpriced. The burger was solid and the steak fries were great. Service was on the slow side. Our waiter reminded other tables before happy hour ended but skipped ours, which felt odd. When my burger arrived, it had a pepper toothpicked on top. I'm allergic, so I asked for a fresh bun top, but was told, "Just take it off, you'll be fine." A quick swap would've solved it. Instead, I just ate the burger without the bun--it was still tasty, but the response was disappointing. That said, the food was good, the view is cool, and the vibe inside is great. I'd come back and give the service another chance

Yelp
Great space! We sat outside and it was a nice time of the day. Sun was going down and we caught happy hour. Got everything on the menu enough for four & some drinks. Food was great for the most part. The only I would say is the shrimp nuggets need a little something. $2 dealers choice oysters were amazing. Great mignonette, just right with flavors in the tart brine taste. The service was on par and the guy had some swag too. A great ambience all together.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food, my salmon chowder was my favorite. Drinks for me were just ok, they have them already made and ready to pour, i discovered that i preferred when they make them fresh for me. My husband and I sat at the bar and out bartenders, servers were very attentive. Place was nice and clean besides the floor on my way to the bathroom was very slippery.
google avatar

Yelp
*Only based off a quick happy hour experience* My friends and I were craving oysters, so when we saw a sign on the sidewalk that Half Shell had oysters during their happy hour, we said 'why the heck not'. Service was quick and our server was very friendly. We initially started with a half dozen of oysters, but it was so good that we ordered another half dozen. I now know that Pickering blue pool oysters are one of my favorites. I would be curious to try other items on the menu another time, but if you're looking for oyster happy hour that isn't too crowded, put this place on your radar.
google avatar

Beny T.

Yelp
We tried the small bites at happy hour. The mini crab rolls were very rich and filling. Personally, they felt a bit too bland for my taste but nonetheless they are filled with fresh crab. The roasted oysters were excellent and probably one of the best and flavorful of the roasted ones I've ever had. The clam chowder was pretty decent and tasty. Overall, the food is very good. The service (imo) is hit or miss - like we did not get the basics like crackers and Tabasco sauce that was suppled to every other table and had to keep asking for things - guess that's dependent on the time you visit and who you get. Pretty pricey as well but not a surprise give that it's at pikes.

Yelp
We arrived around 3:30pm on a Friday and were seated right away. The restaurant was busy, but not packed as there is plenty of inside and outside seating. We came for the $2 oysters during happy hour from 3-6pm. We started off with a dozen of the oysters on the half shell and they were so good and fresh! So good that we ended up ordering another dozen. Service was quick and friendly. I will be back whenever I'm back in Seattle!
google avatar

Linh P.

Yelp
The food was great and the service was even better! We were seated immediately and the hostess Jennifer told us that happy hour was at 3pm, so we can have a seat and grab a drink and wait till 3pm to have the happy hour menu option. We couldn't pass up happy hour so we just ordered the scallop crudo to start off. It was fresh with plenty of scallops on the plate and the lemony sauce was a nice compliment. We were given crackers, but I would eat it without the crackers to get a better taste of the scallops. For the happy hour oysters, it's a randomly chosen oyster out of the 4 choices they had that day. $2 is a good standard happy hour deal for oysters. Our server also goes through and explains the level of brininess and flavors of the oyster. I like it a little on the sweeter side, so we opted to also pay $4.50 (full price) to try some other oysters as well. The burger was delicious as well. I love the tartar sauce inside it and it had a nice char to it too. It wasn't greasy and seemed really light for a burger. Loved the tangy mayo for the fries as well!

Yelp
Great little happy hour menu and oyster happy hour. The cocktails were tasty. The outdoor patio has a nice view of the park and water. Server was very nice and service was timely.

Yelp
Super cute place that now occupies Etta's old spot. Of course this is another Tom Douglass establishment. Mom and I didn't stay long and only had appetizers. The best one was the fried green tomatoes with Dungeness crab. The whole dish was delightful. The shrimp nuggets were just ok. I found them to be surprisingly dry, but the cucumbers they came with were supurb. They were the star of the dish. I could just get a bowl of those and be happy. I tried the baked oysters with Nuduja butter. I wasn't too fond of these because they were very rich and the taste of the ocean was overpowered by the butter. We sat outside because it was a nice day and our server was so very nice. She was very personable and attentive. Great service. We plan on returning to try their happy hour, but eating here really made me miss Etta's. Half Shell was good, but it doesn't have the elegance that Etta's did. Still a great place. Give it a try!
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
I've always loved Tom Douglas restaurants so when I found out I would be visiting Seattle for the first time in 20+ years I immediately knew I wanted to try Half Shell. It ended up being our first stop for lunch as soon as we got to town. I was not disappointed!! We started with the fried green tomatoes based on the bartender's recommendation, and they were absolutely perfect! Next we had the crab roll with fries which was so good I forgot the take a photo! Finished with the coconut cream pie which was exactly like I remember from Dahlia lounge. My boyfriend doesn't like coconut and he ate half of this! The restaurant was super clean, decorated impeccably (oyster cornice above the bar!) and the service was perfect. Nicole is an extremely welcoming and friendly bartender with great recommendations. We are only here for 2 more days but plan to go back to Half Shell to enjoy happy hour oysters! Do not hesitate to try this place if you want a quintessential Seattle seafood experience!!

Yelp
Had a great happy hour at Half Shell. It runs from 3-6 and we got in line at 2:55 and inside by 3:10. Party of four and ordered two dozen oysters, four roasted oysters, and three mini Dungeness crab rolls. The oysters were amazing - I think the best I've had in Seattle. I couldn't get enough. The roasted oysters were also really good, huge. The Dungeness crab rolled were good, but the oysters were the star of the show for me.

Yelp
We dined 5pm, Saturday, early Oct. All-around great experience. Tasty food, creative + chic maritime interior, polished service, excellent cocktails. Half Shell could be family-friendly or casual-romantic, depending. An additional plant-based option or substitution would be good. The clams Half Shell serves are too mature for my taste, so I won't come every time, but I still enjoyed the smaller ones and will pop by occasionally.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick snack. Loved the decor inside. We got 2 dozen oysters. Best oysters I've ever had! So fresh and so much meat! If I'm craving oysters again and I'm near Pike's Place, this is where I'll be going. Interested in trying their fries next time.

Yelp
After a hot afternoon in downtown Seattle, this was just the place we needed for a late lunch. The ambiance was lovely with very few people and they kept it at a cool temperature. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who knew exactly what to recommend for me. I got the smoked black cod from the Sea Bar section of the menu. Although it was a smaller proportion than I would have wished given the price ($22), this plate had excellent flavor. I would recommend trying this dish out if you are looking for a small bite to eat. Not pictured: Others had the albacore tuna melt, grilled king salmon salad, and petit steak frites. I did not try these, but got word that the salad was especially delicious. Looking forward to trying that next!

Yelp
Meh minus. I came for the oyster happy hour, too bad the oysters weren't good. Had a clam dip with ritz crackers....it was ok. Wife had a "small plate", which was just a snow crab legs, son had the king salmon, which he said was ok (should be better than ok for 50 bucks), but there were very little sides, in quantity. After the awful oysters, very buttery (told waitress I didn't like them and she asked if I ever had west coast oysters, I said no, and she said well, there you go and walked away), and if that's how all west coast oysters taste, I'll stick to upper east coast oysters. I had a burger for dinner. 3 of us, total bill 230 bucks. I guess the worst part is our waitress was just so full of herself and condescending, yet never answering our questions. Hmm idk, maybe the worst part was the crappy expensive food, and terrible "happy hour". Flip a coin.

Yelp
Cute restaurant by Pike Place with an amazing oyster happy hour deal! $2 a pop from 3-5 pm every day, including weekends. They also have fun drinks and other food on the happy hour menu as well, like the fries I ordered for $8. The oysters were local and super fresh, 10/10 no notes. The fries are thick (not my usual preference) but were very fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Service was fast and attentive. Overall it was a very pleasant experience with great oysters. I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this lovely patio a few days ago. Lovely service and a delightful meal. Fish was perfectly cooked! Flavor profile of the beats and spinach was a great counter to the spices on the fish. We will be back.

Yelp
Best happy hour in the city. $2 oysters are hard to beat. Oysters were creamy and super sweet. The type you get for HH varies but you are guranteed something fresh everytime. When I tell you their fries were probably the best I have ever had in my life, I am not joking. They are a must order. The baked oysters were just okay for me, each filled with bacon, cheese, and butter. Friendly and attentive service. I recommend making a reservation because as soon as we came in for HH at a decent line formed. Didn't order drinks but their HH cocktails were on the smaller side. Date night vibes for sure, larger parties may be harder to accomodate. I recommend this to anyone in the area or visiting!

Yelp
Great seafood that is open late and good location. The clams were tasty and done well while the oysters were fresh/on point. Dinner * Clams in white wine (Excellent) * Oysters (Very good)

Yelp
We came here during happy hour which is a great decision! The restaurant is very nice: I love the decoration of it. It looks so clean and chic! We ordered $2 happy hour oysters and the signing burger. Honestly the oysters are really good! Its way better than most of the oysters i had before giving i's an oyster lovers. We were not too hungry but after tasting it, we ordered more! The burger is on point too. It has a good mix of vege, sauce and beef patty. Lastly, the service is excellent, the server was very nice. I would highly recommend this place to everyone who love oysters!!!

Yelp
$2 oysters from 3-6pm weekdays, what a bargain. Enjoyed a dozen with my husband and our teenager had a lemonade. Our server was super nice and helpful. Lovely looking over the water close to the market.

Yelp
Half Shell took over the previous Tom Douglas-seafood centric restaurant Etta's last year I think. It shares the block with another Tom Douglas place Seatown Fish fry. Half Shell is the more refined of the two with a slightly fancier menu but the ambience is still casual. As the name suggests, they have some nice shellfish options. They will usually have three types of local oysters featured that are worth trying! The baked oysters are the larger pacific variety that are bigger and better for baking! My other favorite item there are the steamed manila clams that are served on top of toasted sourdough toast. I will usually also get the fresh catch which changes with availability. They do have a kids menu if you have younglings in tow. Check out their happy hour 3p-6p for some price deals!

Yelp
I enjoyed amazing oysters, acquachile and cocktails at the bar of this place on a nice weekend in the summer. Even though they were super busy, the bar tenders were amazingly attentive and friendly! Highly recommend for downtown fun!

Yelp
Stopped in during happy hour and sat a the bar. Bartender was friendly and helpful....I ended up ordering a bunch of random happy hour items (I couldn't make up my mind & it all sounded good). The Bartender handed it like a champ and didn't make me feel like I was a total pain. On to the food!! My drink was a dirty martini and made to perfection. I had 6 fresh Oyster which were fresh and amazing. Two baked oysters - great flavor and yummy. A shrimp slider - a must have!! It's like a chicken sandwhich but 1000x better - amazing!! And a side of fries which were great! Would absolutely go again!!

Yelp
We were visiting from Boston and celebrating our 10th anniversary. After seeing many positive reviews, we decided to hop into Half Shell for happy hour. A cool room and nice afternoon with views out to the water and our first impression was that we had chosen well...Great start. It quickly went downhill. We were greeted by a bartender right out the Seattle playbook. Big burly guy with a beard and lots of tattoos! A bit edgy perhaps... We started with happy hour "mini-tinis" . A small version of some creative cocktails...for a mini price of $10/drink, three sips and they were gone. We ordered oysters and were looking forward to them as oysters and martinis are a favorite for us in New England. The oysters were very different with a creamy buttery texture. Not my style but they are different than we're used to. That said, they seemed slightly off and perhaps not fresh. The bartender took the menus away even though we clearly were there to enjoy more. After asking for the menus again, we ordered more food., a simple and tasty cheese dip and crab rolls, which were quite tasty. He took the menus away again. ..I guess deciding for us we'd had enough!! He just had an edgy and rude attitude. It was like watching performative rudeness in action with all the folks at his end of the bar. I asked for two proper martinis with vodka, dirty with rocks on the side. They come in the same "mini-tini"glasses. Which I thought was odd. I asked him if these were happy hour mini-tinis"...he quipped back that "no! That's full size!" I'm sorry...$40 bucks for two martinis that are at best two ounces is robbery. It was like he charged us full price just for asking! At this point his act and rude attitude and little one-liners aimed at being funny but essentially being a jerk had grown tiresome. This bill was $175 for two small happy hour plates plates , a dozen oysters two mini-tinis and $40 for two martinis served in these very small glasses. A moment later I see a proper martini being presented to a nearby table. What a total disappointment. I've been in the service industry for 20* years including fairly high level restaurants as a server, bartender and manager and almost never have had any desire to be negative about a restaurant. First time for everything. Seemed like a waste of money after so much positive hype online. What a rude jerk of a bartender...he needs to decide if he actually likes this business. Perhaps he was having a very bad day...regardless it shouldn't play out for the bar to watch. Totally disappointed with our first experience in Seattle. Not worth sitting down!!

Yelp
On the day we went the chef's choice fresh oysters were terrible. Did not smell fresh even though we were told they were local and off the boat that day. The rest of the meal was ok but nothing memorable. Service ok, nice ambiance.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Mostly. Except for the scallop cure where the preserved lemon took over the scallop flavor and made it unpleasant. The service was good - I would say great, but we were there 3 times over the period of 2 days. We had 2 amazing servers, and one was semi clueless. Overall, I would go back! The food was yummy!
