Seattle Restaurant Openings for September 2025 | Eater Seattle

"From Lily Wu of Xi’an Noodles, this massive second outpost sits on the Ballard waterfront next to Ray’s, where the seafood boil is the big draw with a variety of broth flavors, alongside other dishes including short ribs, clam chowder, and even a pimento sandwich." - Harry Cheadle

Lily Wu’s Long Journey to Become a Seattle Restaurateur | Eater Seattle

"Set to replace the former Anthony’s Homeport on the Ballard waterfront at Shilshole Bay, this massive new location pushes a higher‑end vision for the brand with an expanded menu beyond Auburn — including ma la (numbing and spicy) dumplings and seafood soup dumplings — and planned Resident Chef Nights to spotlight up‑and‑coming cooks (with talk of a piano and open mic). Wu signed the lease on Christmas Day 2024 and emphasizes reasonable prices so anyone can enjoy the view, sea breeze, sunset, and a spread of seafood and noodles." - Jay Friedman

Happy Crab - Review - Ballard - Seattle - The Infatuation

"An Auburn-based Cajun seafood boil restaurant will soon take over a massive location overlooking Shilshole Bay. In addition to the signature jovial shellfish, look for Chinese dishes like xiao long bao and hand-torn noodles. We’re especially curious about the latter, since they're from the same owner as the excellent Xi’an Noodles. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Gabe Guarente

Our new happy place! Asian-style Cajun/Creole and fried seafood with a great supplemental menu of biang biang noodles, xiao long bao, dumplings and wonton from the Xi'an Noodles people. The seafood boil portion was generous, and the green mussels were crisp and succulent. The happy hour jambalaya and étouffée were again Asian-style but tasty. I had a stiff Paloma cocktail worthy of that from a Chinese bar, although they did not have rye whiskey on hand for an interesting Black Walnut Manhattan. Relaxed spacious atmosphere, lovely panoramic Puget sound view, pleasant low-key service, and cute robot waiters add up to a good value dinner.

We stopped by around 3 PM on a Monday and were surprised to find the place almost empty—just a couple of people enjoying the outdoor seating. The building feels brand new: spacious, modern, and honestly much more upscale than I expected. The views are stunning. It was a gorgeous day, and the sunlight reflecting off the water made the whole experience. We tried the seafood boil and pork bao—both were delicious. The menu was limited when we visited, but that’s likely because they’re still newly opened. One unexpected highlight? The bathrooms. Seriously—floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall white. So bright and clean, it almost felt futuristic. And the little robot that delivered our food was a fun touch! Our server was brand new (first day!) and getting training from senior staff -- they were super attentive and kind. He did great! We visit Seattle once or twice a year, and this spot is definitely going on our regular list.

Great food but weird menu. Onion rings come with French fries? Service was abysmal. 7 in our party and everyone's meal came at different times. My crab cakes came after all my fellow diners were done and I had stuffed myself with more French fries than I've ever seen on a dinner table. They were good but not what I was thinking of for an entree. I asked the very nice server what was holding up my meal and she said they were short staffed. Understandable but the place was empty. Who knows? Will try them again in a few months once they've worked out the service kinks. Want to see them succeed. Oh, incredible views of course.

Wonderful experience with gorgeous views of the Shilshoh bay, beautiful botanical settings and bots bringing the food to the tables. Go early as it fills up! Make it clear to the servers invwhich order you would like to have the dishes served. W e will be back soon again!

Great spot, nice staff, good food. Beautiful view! We got a handful of different things to try. The hand pulled noodles and sautéed green beans were the table faves. We went during lunch on a Friday, no wait during this time.

Frozen everything: onion rings? Rubbery. French fries? Dried out sticks. Shrimp? Rubber bands to be flung. Green mussels?! Great as rubber bands to reinforce the flowered blowing outside. Nothing was fresh. NOTHING! The only redeeming value was our server. As an Asian visiting this spot: offended! Avoid!

Probably the best seafood I have had in Seattle. As a Washington native that says a lot. They were able to sit our party of 12 in about 5 minutes and not only that but, they were attentive to every person in the party including kids. The view was great, the food was better, and staff made it that much better. Will be back here again and will definitely tell everyone to come here. Thank you Happy crab for the amazing service!

I love Happy Crab for its food, service and atmosphere. The most beautiful views and generous seafood serving. Had the boil with lemon pepper boil. Mango bingsoo delicious also! My second time since their soft opening. Love the free parking!
