16 Best Hangs for Happy Hour in Atlanta

"It is not exactly a happy hour, but a great Friday deal: Hartley Kitchen & Cocktails at the Shane Hotel has a Birdies and Bubbles special that serves a glass of sparkling wine with fried chicken and caviar for $20 starting at 5 p.m. Sparkling wine and fried chicken is a brilliant pairing and this is an easy way to try it for the first time." - Eater Staff

16 Great Atlanta Hotel Restaurants

"As the signature eatery at the Kimpton Shane Hotel, Hartley Kitchen & Cocktails doesn’t just look the part—the stylish lobby establishment has light wood floors, black leather banquettes, and a lively connected bar—but its tastes are on point, too. Small plates like skillet cornbread (please liberally apply the sweet tomato jam) and fried chicken skin cracklins illustrate a sophisticated kitchen that flaunts Southern roots. By the time your fork touches sorghum butter-topped carrots and roasted chicken that’s been brined in sweet tea, you realize the cooks are just showing off." - nina reeder, demarco williams

Hartley Kitchen & Cocktails - Review - Midtown - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"With all the congestion and construction, we understand why you’ve avoided Midtown lately. But if exciting restaurants like Hartley Kitchen & Cocktails keep at it, you’ll want to return. The signature eatery at the new Kimpton Shane Hotel, Hartley doesn’t just look the part—the stylish lobby establishment has light wood floors, black leather banquettes, and a lively connected bar—but its tastes are on point, too. Small plates like skillet cornbread (please liberally apply the sweet tomato jam) and fried chicken skin cracklins illustrate a sophisticated kitchen that isn’t ashamed of its Southern roots. A time was had. We absolutely loved our waitress Tahj. We were at The Hartley brunch downstairs and there is a nice later venue upstairs. The whole restaurant was a great quiet vibe. When they get music and an actual brunch vibe it’ll be even better. Had the shrimp and grits 1️⃣0️⃣! Bottomless mimosa for $20 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The biscuit was good and crispy. If you’re used to soft biscuit this is a different vibe. The potatoes were seasoned and I absolutely loved them. My friend had the Benedict but fried hard. She loved it. I had coffee and she had an iced coffee with oat milk. A great quiet vibe with good food. A little basic variety but no complaints on taste. When they get a vibe in here it’ll be top tier!

We chose The Hartley for our anniversary dinner, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel celebrated with a thoughtful handwritten “Happy Anniversary” card and complimentary champagne to toast the evening. That kind of personal touch set the tone for a night that felt incredibly special. To start, we shared two delicious appetizers: the Crawfish & Jalapeño Croquettes and the Crispy Jambalaya Arancini—both were perfectly crisp, flavorful, and a great way to begin the meal. For entrées, I had the Alaskan Halibut, which was delicate, buttery, and beautifully prepared. My husband ordered the Rainbow Trout, which was equally impressive—fresh, flavorful, and expertly cooked. We paired our meals with two standout cocktails: the Grant Park and the Southside Sipper. Both were refreshing, well-balanced, and elevated the entire experience. A live guitarist was performing and singing throughout the evening, creating a warm, romantic atmosphere that made the night even more memorable. And the dessert? Absolutely unforgettable. The Peach Almond Cream Tart was divine—so good, I joked that I could’ve eaten seven. It was the perfect sweet ending to a flawless meal. From the food and drinks to the service and ambiance, The Hartley exceeded every expectation. It’s the kind of place that makes a special occasion feel even more meaningful. We would absolutely recommend it and can’t wait to return.

Stayed at the Kimpton Shane and saw this was their attached restaurant and bar. I stopped there for dinner and drinks as well. The restaurant was never crowded or overly loud and very nice atmosphere to just vibe in. Had to switch twice when I sat down because the tables were very wobbly but was taken care of very quickly by Morgan who was very friendly and attentive the entire time. Ordered the Atlantic Red Snapper which came with black eyed peas and a chorizo clam broth. Collectively the flavors were good overall with a nice crispy skin but both the fish was a bit over cooked and the bed of beans were a bit bland but the clams were perfect. I paired it with a pour of Blanton's on the rocks that came with a very fun king cube of ice that was "Hartley" branded. I stopped by for breakfast where I got the Hartley breakfast (typical eggs, bacon, toast and fruit) which came out quick and was done well but some pieces of melon are a bit over ripe with an almost fermenting/spoiling scent but overall it was still a good meal. The "fresh" orange juice was delicious and indeed tasted squeezed and not generic OJ from a carton. This was a great experience overall that was a good atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and attentive. From a value standpoint, it is on the higher end to be expected from a hotel restaurant and would be a good stop if you are staying there or in the area but not something to go out of the way for.

Google
We had a bit of a mixed experience at The Hartley. The ambiance was lovely, and our server, Rori, was fantastic and attentive. The fries were absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, the steak was inedible. The restaurant did make up for it by comping the steak and offering dessert, which we appreciated. Also, note that only valet parking is validated, so we ended up paying $10 for self-parking. Overall, we’re giving it three stars.

This restaurant, located inside the Kimpton The Shane Hotel in Atlanta | Midtown, is stunning. I loved the ambiance and overall vibe. Every server and hostess who helped me during my stay was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful—I couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience at a hotel. I tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and would highly recommend them all.

I was very impressed by the atmosphere, however the food, not so much. I ordered the Tagliatelle pasta with shrimp on the side. The pasta was overcooked and lacked seasoning. The fried mushroom could have been delicious if they drained the oil properly. I think this place has great potential but needs improvement.

Took a friend here for her birthday and everything was phenomenal. Every. Single. Dish. And we ordered quite a few! Chef Mark Alba is putting out some delicious food. The great service and atmosphere added to the wonderful experience. We will absolutely be back.

I really, really wanted to like this place. It came highly recommended by several people but I was sadly disappointed. My wife and I showed up on time for our reservation, then waited somewhere between five and ten minutes to be seated. We didn't get our drinks for half an hour, and even then, after part of our dinner order came out. Oh, and this was Valentine's day, so a set menu so nothing exotic. All in all, we spent nearly two hours there, probably about 1.5 of that waiting. I don't blame the waitress, she was completely overloaded. Kept hearing "the bar is backed up" despite seeing other people ordering. We didn't even order anything strange, just wine. The only thing that they managed to do in a timely manner was run our credit card. It even took 15 minutes to bring us a check. Atmosphere was ok. They had a live musician but he was so incredibly loud that my wife and I were almost shouting at each other, despite a wall being between us and him. It did finally get a little quieter though.

Yelp
The scallops are incredible; the chocolate orange muisse to die for. The server, Tahj, is a lovely soul and is a great ambassador for this restaurant!

Yelp
Very cool atmosphere. Sipping on a Woodford and ginger ale The corn bisque is surprisingly delish! Warm welcome at my arrival promptly seated. Serb or had been quick but there are very patrons in here.

Yelp
Enjoying a nice dinner with friends! If you're looking for an intimate spot to enjoy a business meeting with friends, this is the place to be. The service was absolutely amazing and the friendly staff went above and beyond.

Yelp
We stayed at the Kimpton and had breakfast each mornin. Food was excellent (although expensive) and our server Ty assisted by Hendrix was so wonderful! Very attentive and accommodating, real southern hospitality!

Yelp
My husband and I absolutely adored our experience at The Hartley! From the moment we stepped in, we were enchanted by the romantic atmosphere, nestled within the breathtaking Kimpton-Shane hotel lobby. The setting alone was enough to make our evening memorable. But what truly set The Hartley apart was the exceptional service we received during dinner. Our server went above and beyond, checking in on us frequently and even surprising us with a water bowl for our beloved puppy. As devoted dog lovers, we greatly appreciated the pet-friendly approach of IHG hotels, which always make us feel right at home. The following morning, we indulged in breakfast at The Hartley once again. While my husband opted for the classic breakfast plate and thoroughly enjoyed it, I couldn't resist trying their tantalizing avocado toast - and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! Without hesitation, we would recommend dining at The Hartley, especially if you're staying at the hotel or exploring the vibrant Midtown area. Trust us, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
The Hartley was a fantastic spot to grab lunch and socialize. The customer service was absolutely fantastic and the food is a sizable portion that was delicious. I'll definitely be back. PS. Invesco employees get a discount if you show your badge, making this a great lunch spot

Yelp
A great venue inside of the Shane hotel. Our server was great, but the host did appear to be a little distracted. The food overall was just okay. The sauce on the waffles wasn't balanced, but the frittata was tasty. The grapefruit juice was good, and the fruit bowl was fresh which I appreciated. A bit more flavor to both dishes and this place would nail it.

Yelp
My friend and I recently stayed at The Kimpton Shane Hotel in Atlanta while helping our children move to their new apartment! The hotel was beautiful, beds were awesome, shower superb! The Valets were wonderful and always willing to help. We also ate at The Hartley restaurant while we were there. I have to say management is very lucky to have two awesome and kind people working them! They are a wonderful face for the company! Both Keyonna Cummins and Hendrick Pascal should be commended and cloned () . They were so friendly and knowledgeable. They made the dining experience worthwhile. True gems and really wonderful people! Thank you for making our stay even better!

Danielle D.

Yelp
We had breakfast, brunch, and several beverages at the bar here during our stay. We loved it & Keyonna is so lovely!!

Yelp
I'm a burger and fries person. I like to call myself a fry connoisseur. The burger is pretty good. Not amazing but still a pretty solid burger. The fries were fantastic! You can tell they use fresh potatoes!
google avatar

Kristel T.

Yelp
Wonderful staff, especially Keyonna. Kind, attentive and intuitive. Beautiful property, great menu. Ate both mornings here, delicious. Impeccable service from Keyonna, she is an angel! Will come back.

Yelp
Ate breakfast six times here during my stay. I tried the Hartley breakfast, griddled breakfast burrito, and the southern omelette. The burrito was the best with some hot sauce. The omelette had nice chunks of white meat. The Wagyu double patty burger with freshly cooked fries was quite tasty. Jumbo shrimp cocktail was good with the cocktail sauce. Xmas ribeye with greens and mac & cheese was on the salty side.

Kelyn S.

Yelp
This place was A+++!!! Keyonna, our server was excellent and couldn't have been sweeter! The food was fantastic, highly recommend all the breakfast options! Really nice decor as well, will be back asap!

Yelp
What a disappointment. $30 enters for breakfast. The food was served cold both mornings and the service was even worse. Cold eggs. Cold coffee no flavor in any of the other 3 dishes we ordered over our two day stay. Pro tip - if you are a server having a meltdown maybe get yourself together before approaching a table? Attitude's for days. Oh but super sweet for tip time Welcome to the ATL. Kimpton's should be embarrassed.

Yelp
Food was decent & service was better. Our server Keyonna Cummins was excellent. Great attitude & excellent service.

Andrea D.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly, gracious service. Cat head biscuits were divine and our lovely server Keyonna made our day!

Lauren J.

Yelp
We loved our time here. The ricotta pancakes were delicious. Keyonna's service was amazing. We will be back!

Daren J.

Yelp
IDK what everyone else is talking about. I have been here 5+ times and it is honestly one of the best hidden spots in ATL. The hotel design and space, the friendly staff and the most delicious southern fair. Yes it's not cheap, but when is quality ever especially in our post covid world? 100% recommend!

Yelp
Dined with a few friends on a Friday night and couldn't find much of anything to complain about. It was pretty empty which isn't surprising given that it's brand new and the location. (North end of midtown at the new midtown union development inside the Kimpton hotel). Food was great. We ordered the burger, shrimp and grits, roasted chicken and the skillet cornbread to start. Everyone enjoyed their food and the portions were decent. I wish restaurants gave bigger portions for shrimp and grits considering grits are so cheap- but that's pretty typical. Everyone left satisfied and happy. The service was great and everyone was friendly. Ambiance and vibe was ok. It felt open and airy. Didn't feel quite an intimate as I would have liked given the proximity to the lobby with a lot of light flooding in from that area. Nitpicking here, but I often judge a hotel restaurant based on my ability to forget that I'm actually at a hotel. Overall I recommend. There's also a nice bar onsite as well that offers a great lounge experience.

Joshua B.

Yelp
The wage beef burger is fantastic, but the salmon avocado toast is even better! I ate here on a Saturday during brunch. The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating and the coffee is delicious!

Chip H.

Yelp
Wonderful service from Keyonna both times we ate there, good food and came out promptly. Nice atmosphere, too!

Yelp
I hope the level of service and quality of food last because tonight was on point! I love a warm welcome and the hostess provided that along with a warm smile. Our server did an excellent job of explaining the various entrees and we decided to try a few starters before sharing the sweet potato agnolotti for our main. The deviled eggs, pork belly bao buns and chicken fried mushrooms all came out quickly. My favorite was the mushroom starter, but they all were delicious. The main entree was a unique combination of sweet potato and cranberry that reminded me of an elevated Thanksgiving dish. I would easily order this again. There were other items on the menu that sounded good as well. I look forward to coming back to try them and some of the signature Cocktails.

Jamie K.

Yelp
Very enjoyable Southern Sessions dinner tonight, amazing brisket and house made bbq sauces!

Yelp
Diarrhea and over charge. This place is part of the Kimpton Shane Hotel. I had dinner and the breakfast the following morning. Soon after breakfast I got severe Diarrhea and had to take Imodium. Dinner - the burger was over cooked and the side of carrots tasted good. Breakfast- they made a mistake and served the wrong omelette. Then they got the right one but charged me for both before they made an adjustment. I am not sure what they use for eggs but the taste was funny. Service both times was friendly but the food in this pretentious supposedly chef restaurant is a big disappointment.

Yelp
We have eaten here four times during two different stays at the Kimpton. The food has been absolutely delicious every single meal 1 breakfast, 2 dinners, 1happy hour. It's a beautiful setting ...it's louder in the evenings. We love the lighting -it's a little dark. The bar is fun during happy hour. If you sit at the bar, your drinks or as quick, as can be. If you sit at a table in the bar area, forget it. We have yet to receive service that matches the price, the quality of the foo, or the ambience. Tonight at dinner, our cocktails arrived after dinner was served. I ask - if she could check on her cocktails, and she never came back. Then someone else served our drinks. We all sat there with our food and no before dinner cocktails.,We also ordered wine to be served with dinner and it never came - ever. Exact same situation previous visit at dinner. We were at the hotel with customers and we just expect better. We will not be returning to the Kimpton Shane or to the restaurants/bars. There are so many other options. We really wanted to love it all.

Yelp
This restaurant is found in lobby of the Kimpton hotel. There was only one customer in the restaurant when we arrived. There was no one at the restaurant reception desk when we entered. We wandered around looking for someone. When the two people eventually returned, there was no acknowledgement that we had needed to go looking for them. We were seated and promptly greeted by a very friend server. He had a tendency to disappear for too long, and when he did come by the table he would not ask if we needed anything but would walk by saying, "if you need anything, let me know." You had to think and respond quickly or he was gone again. My wife ordered sweet potato ravioli (they called it something else) and I ordered the fried catfish-etouffee. As sides, we had broccolini and fried mushrooms. Everything we had was amazingly delicious. I am a foodie and an obsessive home-chef type and I still think the food was terrific. The only complaint I have about the food is the serving size. I'm 60 and I don't eat like I used to. But a 35 year-old version of me would have wondered where I was going to go for dinner after these appetizers. I have posted pictures with our hands in the picture so you can get a sense of scale. The greeting was non existent. The food was great. The service was friendly but occasionally absent. The ambience was not quite nice enough for the food quality and the prices. But in the end, it was the best tasting food we have eaten in some time.

S J.

Yelp
Nice place. I had to flag a busboy to get someone to wait on me. I ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer. They were good I ordered the half chicken entree. When it came out I could see that it was overcooked and very dry. I cut into the leg and it was very dry. I am not a chef, but there is no way the kitchen did not know that it was overcooked, but they served it anyway. I had to send it back, and I asked for the check.

Maria D.

Yelp
The food and the Hotel is amazing! When you get to the Hotel they make sure they greet you with a big smile, open the door for you and take your bags right away! The restaurant was just as amazing, Trinity, Quez and the manager Mario was so kind and wonderful. Each one of them made sure our food was perfect! If we come back to Atlanta this is where we will stay again! Such a great time! Happy Visitors!!!

Wendy D.

Yelp
Niani and Ryan took such great care of us. We wanted to leave the hotel and fo out to dinner but glad we stayed in and we dined at Hartley...scallops and the skirt steak were both cooked to perfection!!!! I'd highly recommend! Happy campers and we are not easy to please :/

Chris R.

Yelp
I order the dry aged NY strip and chicken fried mushrooms. The steak was not the NY strip, not well season and it arrived covered in some sort of steak sauce (yuck). About a spoon full of the overly mixed puree that taste like hot unsweeten melted flavorless ice cream. The mushroom was well over battered small pieces. Like they came from a can. And wayyyy too greasy. And the prices was too high for that garbage they call food. The best thing I had was a cold beer (not ice cold though). I DO NOT RECOMMEND EATING THERE.

Katie T.

Yelp
Wow! Flight cancellations led to a stayover in Atlanta on Christmas. We went for Christmas brunch and were shocked at the $105 sticker price per person which wasn't listed on the menu or the website. Additionally, hefty gratuity was automatically added, and as a server myself I understand that. However, it was a self-service buffet, and we had to flag somebody to get coffee and service. Underwhelming for sure with such a high sticker price. The buffet was good, so kudos to the chefs, but automatic gratuity for mediocre service--including from the management--wasn't impressive.

Wanda B.

Yelp
I recently stayed at the Kimpton Shane Hotel in Midtown Atlanta for my birthday. It was a great hotel and experience. I had friends join me for dinner at the Hartley! It was epic. The food was delicious and I can't say enough about the staff. Rose gave us incredible service, Chris is the host with the most, and the restaurant manager, Samantha, made sure our evening was complete by suggesting we have drinks and dance the night away at the Aveline! This will not stay a hidden gem forever! Get to the Hartley, Aveline, and Shane soon!

Sarah H.

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal here. We ate in the bar area. Ryan served us. We absolutely enjoyed everything we tried. We had the pork belly Bao buns, the pimento fritters, the brook trout entree and the chicken fried mushrooms. Very chef driven and thoughtful menu. Oh and the drinks were fantastic too. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
I have no idea why this place has any stars. I go to a lot of ATL restaurants. And this was by far the worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my life. I went in with a friend on a SLOW Monday. Made a reservation. When we arrived there was a line at the hostess stand. Waiting almost 10 minutes before we were finally greeted by an employee. We told him we had a reservation and he looked at us like he had never heard the word reservation before in his life. We were finally seated. Took about 5 minutes before we were finally given menus. Waters were another 5 minutes. Water tasted stale. our server was terrible. We ordered drinks and he was walking away as we were talking. I'd like to emphasize this was a slow night. Only 4 tables in the restaurant at this time with multiple servers. I have lots of sympathy for servers because I am a server/bartender and been in the industry for the last 16 years. But he was so terrible there's no excuses. As he walked through the restaurant he was looking in any direction but his tables. Like purposefully trying to ignore us. After being at the restaurant for almost 40 minutes we finally got our drinks. They were terrible. Completely unbalanced signature cocktails. We had to flag down a manager to get any help. When our server finally came to take our order he had a terrible confused attitude. Forgetting to ask obvious questions like the temperature for the meat. When the food arrived it was delivered by a food runner not our server. From the time we ordered food we did not see our server till we had to flag him down to get our bill. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the duck. Was given an extremely small portion. Server never came to check on us after the food was delivered. We had to get the manager again to request condiments and more water. We even finished our drinks and was never asked if we wanted another round. They were not good drinks but not asking a customer is terrible form. We were beyond ready to get out of there. It was a completely disorganized restaurant. The manager even seemed confused. When our server dropped the bill off after a good 10 minutes after picking up the bill to process the card he didn't say have a good night or any closing remarks. Just dropped it on table without looking at us. Again this man was not busy. He had 2 maybe 3 tables by the end of our meal. I was watching him hoping validation for his terrible service would appear but it did not. I even saw other customers looking around trying to find their server or a manager. No one looked like they were having a good time. This was not a cheap place our bill was at 150 for not much. The only thing I can compliment is the food presentation. It was pretty. Flavor was lacking though. Literally just a terrible experience do not go here and waste your time
