"There’s perhaps nowhere else in San Francisco where can a diner order khao gaeng-style Thai dishes, which arrive in so many tiny dishes and bowls. Naruephon “Billie” Wannajaro’s first restaurant outside of Thailand is a lovely place to stop for lunch or dinner to enjoy papaya salad and chicken satay." - Dianne de Guzman, Paolo Bicchieri

"Hed Verythai takes most of the decision-making out of a meal, a concept we welcome since we live on a neverending hamster wheel of choices. The minimalist, warehouse-like Thai spot in Union Square specializes in set lunch and dinner menus that reflect the Thai style of eating prepared dishes over rice, or khao gaeng. All you have to do is pick your entrée, like sautéed beef or coconut mushroom soup, and let the assortment of three sides, like papaya salad or spicy glass noodle salad, get decided for you. Go for the creamy red curry entrée with duck and chunks of pineapple, which is one of the more flavorful entrées on the menu (another, the fried fish, is a bit one-note). At around $25 each, the sets are a good amount of food, and some of the better value sit-down meals in the area.  " - Julia Chen

So we tried this place yesterday evening and I was looking forward to tasting some yummy Thai food. Well the food was good nothing wrong there but it was not as Thai as one would expect. I would rename the place from Very Thai to Some Thai. The flavours are not what I expected from a very Thai place. Very westernized for sure. For example the north Thai sausage lacks depth and complexity. All the spice factors were missing. I think their sets are a good idea and make it easy to share. We had three sets for four and that was plenty. The desserts are a bit sad but we didn't come here for dessert. I do like the interior. Simple clean look, but it does have a draw back, the concrete floor and walls tend to echo and the place gets super noisy as it packs up. Kudos to the staff. There were only two on the floor and they kept the ball moving super efficiently. Again on the food I wish they would add more depth to their flavors and go back to their roots. The place has potential for sure

The veggie set from their winter menu was delicious! Tofu satay was great- well seasoned with a generous amount of peanut sauce. The other dishes were pretty good as well and I really enjoyed the orange salad.

Google
This restaurant is spacious and is a hidden gem. The service is good - notice the lunch set menu now automatically includes dessert (at a higher price) so this may differ from the online version which shows dessert is optional. The food is on the sweeter side. Maybe for a la carte you can customize a bit. Overall a delightful experience to enjoy Thai food with friends!

Google
I enjoyed the concept with a bento box prix fix concept from a selection of different set options. I chose the fish and shrimp set and all the flavors were fantastic. I do think the pricing is a little on the expensive side for the portions and wished it would be just a tad larger. Great service, easy to access even without reservations on a Thursday night after work.

Google
Great food, excellent portions. Heat level is definitely not high. The Pad Thai was the highlight of the night tho, the flavors were out of this world. The server was also extra nice. Will definitely be back.

Google
Unique approach to food! Meals are served as a set of dishes with a protein in mind, to form a cohesive culinary experience. Loved how each component of the set complimented each other. There were so many ways to mix-and-match the meal and so many flavour pairings to experience. They change the sets every so often, but this time, I had the pork belly set. All the food tasted great. The portions are slightly on the smaller end and I wish there was a bit more emphasis on the protein. The pork belly was (surprisingly) much more subtle in flavour than the other components. (Especially the salad with its sharp acidity). All that said though, I had a great time. Service was excellent and I got seated quickly since I was here close to opening time. Would still recommend making a reservation just in case though. The location is in an alley and not the most inviting, but I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit and you should be assured that your first visit will be great!

Google
Great food. Very different thai experience so we definitely enjoyed it a lot. Went for my birthday because I wanted to try something different and it definitely stood up to the mark. We got the chicken set and fish and prawn set. Loved the papaya salad. Also had the mango and coconut pudding. I liked the coconut pudding better because I usually don't prefer coconut flavored things but this was surprisingly good.

We walked in for dinner and were warmly welcomed to a cute table. When we arrived, there were only a few tables occupied, but by the time we left, the restaurant was full. The food was delicious, and the ingredients seemed to be of high quality. All the staff members were very friendly, and the atmosphere was great. The restaurant was clean and neat. I would definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Wanted to mix up my lunch meeting spot and found this gem. Now, it's kind of hard to find because it's down an alley, but they do a good job with large signage to direct you. It's a nice place, very modern and chic decor. They had set menus for lunch, which I'm usually not a fan of because I'm very particular about my food, but in this instance I was happy to curated these meals! I had the ribeye and crab option. When I tell you I loved every single thing, I LOVED EVERY SINGLE THING! I appreciated that some of the dishes had a bit of spice to it too. The sticky rice dessert was a great touch too. I cannot wait to come back! Food rating 100/10!! Customer service rating 7/10 Ambiance 8/10

Yelp
If Thai citizens still hold this harmony in their hearts, there is hope that in whatever the situation, Thailand will surely get through it safely and with stability -- Bhumibol Adulyadej A Tale of Two Thais...restaurants that is ;-) 1 of 2. This is a unique eating experience where you receive multiple items at once, sort of like a bento box. From their website: "Khao gaeng is a typical way of eating a perfect meal in Thai culture. Within one single meal--and oftentimes with only one plate--you get to taste different dishes with flavors and textures that complement themselves. Rice sits in the center as main, and a small portion of 2-3 stir-fries, soups, curries or fried items are served alongside. Hed presents this unique culture with our tri-color rice from Thailand, an appetizer, a stir-fry, a curry, a fried item, a variety of sauces and thai dessert." I don't take the free business development lunches often but we need to refresh our consultant list so I took this one. Being VP comes in handy on the days one is hungry ;-) I ordered the beef set and it definitely had an interesting combination of flavors. The rice, beef, butternut squash and mango pudding were the best. Did not care for the eggplant too mushy. Prices came out to about $35 per person with drinks which is pricey for lunch. Service was super fast because they were busy and wanted to turn the tables. The room is small but didn't feel overly crowded or loud. The staff is lovely and the owners clearly hire for a consistent look ;-) Recommended!

Yelp
Ever since I first came here in 2023, I've been a fan! Hed verythai is a modernly-decorated, reinvention restaurant for Thai cuisine -- and I've brought big groups and friends 1:1 here to eat lunch and dinner. The food comes in sets where you choose based off the protein you want -- beef, pork belly, fish, chicken, vegetarian. A little pudding dessert is also included. I've tried the beef, pork, and chicken sets and the pairings are so good. I especially love the beef curry paired with the butternut squash and spicy eggplant (all very flavorful), and the tricolor rice is a really nice base with chewy texture. They do a great job with a variety of textures and flavors (crunch, spice, chewy, savory, soft, sweet). The pork belly is on the sweeter side, while the chicken curry is good as well. The portions don't look that big but I'm always pretty full after eating one set, and cost is reasonable given quality. The restaurant is tucked in a side alley, and has never been full when I've dined. The servers are always friendly though a bit slow to get their attention. Looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Came to Hed Verythai after being intrigued by their set menus. I walked in on a Thursday evening when the space was less than half full but I felt like the waitress wasn't very welcoming. She asked if I had reservations (no) then asked if I had been here before (also no) and asked if I knew it was set menus (yes). Truth be told, I almost felt like she was going to turn me away rather than seat me. But eventually I did get seated. Upon looking at the set menus, I was most intrigued by the winter sets and decided upon the beef and crab set which featured a ribeye green curry, scrambled egg and crab, sauteed spicy cabbage, pickled celery with shrimp and cashews, 3 grains mixed rice, mango pudding, and black rice dessert with logan. I also added a fresh chrysanthemum tea just because. Almost everything on the plate was better than the last. I really enjoyed the crunchy celery salad with the cashews. It was tangy and nutty and it also didn't make me too mad that they subbed celery in for lotus roots. My second favorite dish was the sautéed cabbage. This one packed some heat! But the charring gave it a nice smokiness to balance with the spiciness, tanginess, and natural sweetness of cabbage. It did a great job highlighting how Thai food has all these levels of flavor in one dish. The tea also helped greatly to cool down the spices. If I had to nitpick a few things - the ribeye pieces were plentiful and tender but not sliced through so it was like a chain of ribeye. Moreover, the pieces were lukewarm at best and just too large to be easily enjoyed. Secondly, the black rice in the dessert was super overcooked and mushy. Even though it was still my favorite of the two desserts for flavor, the texture could have been much better. My treat myself dinner came to $55 with tip. I appreciated that there was no rush to get through the meal too. I got to take my time even as a solo diner which I very much appreciated.

Yelp
Went there a month or so ago & they had cute Christmas decor. Food was good and unique! The "board" style was fun since your sides, main, and dessert all come at the same time. Our server seemed really bothered by us for whatever reason but maybe it was just an off day for them. Would go back to try other things on the menu!

Renata G.

Yelp
Came here for lunch! Be ready for some heat.. the food is spicier than expected. I really enjoyed it though. If your tolerance isn't as high though, beware. They offer cool sets with variety of small plates. I got the crab and shrimp Holiday set. It came with a salad, curry soup, shredded crab, cabbage stir fry, three types of rice, sweet coconut sticky rice dessert and mango pudding. Everything was tasty! But I definitely had to drink a lot of water to cool the spice. A friend I was with couldn't handle it and didn't fully finish the food. If you don't want a big meal, you can opt out of the set and order some plates from their shareable menu. There are also lots of drink options. The longan iced tea was really good and came in a large glass. Wine beer Thai tea and coffee are also on the menu though! The menu is a digital QR code and once it's loaded up on the phone, it's very hard to see. It's really designed to be viewed nicely on paper but when you're zooming into the text on each page, it's hard to keep track of what you're looking at since they offer four regular sets and four Holiday sets among the shareable options. The restaurant space itself felt dark and lonely. I wish they'd up the ambiance with better lighting. You can see into the kitchen since it's open door and the cooks aren't really in a rush to get the orders out. It took a while for us to get our sets and some things weren't warm enough.

Yelp
I've walked past this alley many times and haven't looked twice until a friend introduced me to Hed. After walking to the end of the alley, the restaurant greets you with a warm cozy interior. We visited during the holidays, and the place was beautifully decorated with a Christmas tree and festive holiday accents. We came around closing so there were only a few parties left inside so service was pretty fast. Thai Iced Tea: cool refreshing drink Pork Belly Set: love the set platter idea, pork belly & pineapple mix was interesting but the sweet meat combo wasn't really to my liking, healthy individual small platters Hed offers a twist on your classic pad thai/pad see ew dishes. Instead, they focus on sets that present a little bite of everything for the meal. Also I loved how everything tasted very healthy -- the khao soi soup, mango pudding, vegetables. Overall, though I wish the main meat flavors were a bit better I'd say presentation here is excellent!

Yelp
Made reservation for a Friday at 6:30pm to celebrate a birthday. Turns out it wasn't needed as the restaurant was only 20% full and there was a lot of seating. Service was very friendly and attentive. We got a complimentary chicken satay for appetizer with a birthday candle, although it was very dry. I love set menus. I love having variety and set menus is what they specializes here. I ordered the beef set - $27.95 and my partner ordered the ribeye and crab set - $38.95. We got 5 different dishes plus dessert. Note that some dishes such as the papaya salad is pretty spicy for us. Aside from that, everything was delicious, minus the chicken satay.

Sarah Z.

Yelp
Great spot for a nice well balanced meal! Seating is plentiful and spacious. I enjoy set menus bc it makes things easier. Service was quick as well. I got the chicken set and the chicken was so tender and juicy, just the right amount of flavor. Definitely would recommend.

Yelp
I loved everything about my experience here ! I went with a couple of my coworkers which was fun since I got to try some of their sets as well. I've never had Thai food served like this - at first, I was thinking that the prices were a little high... until I saw how much food comes with each set! I ordered the chicken and pork holiday set. My coworkers had the beef/crab set and shrimp/another protein set (these were their holiday sets). I didn't run into any dish that I didn't like eating. From my chicken and pork set, the chicken they serve is sooooo tasty. The sauce on it is very addicting . Can't get over it! The entire set itself was very balanced with salad, soup, a main, veggies, dessert, and an interesting mix of grains (personally one of my fave components). Would love to come back to try more! We also got the tofu satay skewers to share, wine, dirty Thai tea cocktail (so yum), and the Longan tea (refreshing!). Ambiance was dark but nice. It's a small place so felt a bit crowded but not terrible. Our server was very friendly and helpful!

Joyce S.

Yelp
Located in alley way. Cute aesthetic restaurant Love the set dinner concept Soup, salad, rice, protein and dessert $35 4 different meal set to choose from. Service was attentive and friendly

Yelp
Actual rating: 3 1/2 stars. Decided to eat here because: 1) It's Thai food 2) Loved the idea of a dinner set served bento box style 3) They had a special going on with the Let's Glow SF event. Service was welcoming, friendly, and considerate. They asked if we had any food allergies ahead of time. I went with the shrimp and fish set and my friend ordered the duck and chicken set. To be honest, the dishes were hit or miss. The shrimp was overcooked, the chicken satay was dry, and the eggplant was unevenly cooked. The butternut squash, duck curry, and grilled fish, however, were very good. At the end of the meal ,we received mango pudding and an adorable coconut pudding with a gelatinous molded duck sitting atop as part of their Let's Glow SF special. Too cute! Overall, great service, loved the bento box style, and the duck pudding, but the menu items were inconsistent. Would like to give this place another try, especially since Let's Glow is coming up again this year.

Yelp
A perfect spot for a lovely date night in my opinion. The place is located in a hidden alley, so you would just need to be aware of the area. The food is served is based on an unique set-based menu containing six delicious items, providing a melody of flavor. I honestly loved everything about this place. The concept, menu, vibes, etc. The set I got was delicious. Thai green curry is my favorite, and I was really happy. Personally, I really loved their dessert. The mango pudding was refreshing and perfect to end the meal.

Yelp
This is a great work lunch spot - they are used to weekday office lunches and are efficient at getting even a group of 5-10 people out within an hour. Reservations have always been easy to make online for weekday lunch. I've made reservations weeks or days in advance. They have a lot of space and likely you can get in without a reservation for a small group, but with a large group it's best to reserve on Open Table. I had lunch here earlier in the month, the total for two (1 starter, 2 non-alcoholic drinks, 2 lunch entrees) was $121.65 including tax/tip. We both had lots of leftovers as the lunch plate is a generous amount of food. Everything was delicious and quite spicy! * Thai Iced Tea ($5) - 4 stars. Not too sweet, and you can actually taste the bitterness of the tea in a good way. * Pad Moo Krob, Crispy Pork Belly w Brussel Sprouts ($18) - 5 stars. Perfectly crisped, tons of delicious flavor. * Set 02: Beef ($27.95) - 4 stars. Everything good, particularly the butternut squash & curry w/ beef. Mango pudding is fantastic.

Yelp
The set menus are a great way to try a bunch of different things! The beef salad had a tasty fish sauce marinade and the sausage appetizer was tasty as well. The chicken satay was their version of a birthday cake for our friend which was really cute. We tried the fish and shrimp set and the chicken set with the option for the spicy herbal salad. Everything was delicious! The butternut squash and eggplant sides were the less interesting parts of the sets, but otherwise everything else was good. The service was great, and the ambiance was really nice with all the Christmas decorations! We had a reservation for Saturday at 7pm and the restaurant was about half full.

Siobhan A.

Yelp
This place is an absolute hidden gem in FiDi Food: I ordered the seasonal special set 2 with chicken and pork ribs. The pork ribs came in a clear broth with daikon that was perfectly fragrant and delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly with bamboo shoots and chili. I could eat the side of butternut squash forever. It was tender and the flavor of the Thai basil was delicious. The papaya salad had the perfect kick and was super refreshing. The 3 types of rice were the perfect compliment to all the other dishes. Lastly, the mango pudding was everything I wanted at the end of the meal - not too sweet, smooth texture, absolutely delicious. Service: super friendly! Ambiance: loved the holiday decorations, super cozy and warm space. The perfect spot to catch up with friends over dinner Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. Definitely book a reservation if you're coming for dinner, I've tried to walk in before on a weeknight and they were booked through the rest of that night so we were turned away. I'll be back with a res!

Kriti S.

Yelp
Fun place for set meals. You can choose from a limited number of set meals with slight variations. The restaurant is tucked away at the end of a shallow alley, and has lots of natural light. Perfect for a casual lunch date. Service is friendly and attentive.

Toni D.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Hed verythai by accident on Yelp. We were hungry and it was close. We're from Chicago and I had chicken pad thai in mind. Sat down and noticed what looked like bento box style meals (they call them "sets"). I had a chicken peanut set that was AMAZING!!! Wish we had this close to home! Also, fast and good service and perfect for small or large groups.

Vivian P.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! This restaurant is tucked away in an alley and parking is tough, but it is so worth it. They specialize in sets, with each set coming with a variety or dishes. We got the pork belly set and the chicken set and both were awesome. Similarities between sets included the papaya salad which was so fresh and flavorful, the mushroom soup which was to die for, and the pudding dessert. The pork belly was very flavorful and tender with pineapple that paired perfectly with the pork. It also had eggplant which was good. The chicken curry was SO GOOD. I highly recommend it! It also came with squash that was a little underwhelming. Plenty of seating and very fast service. It was very clean and every table had flowers which was cute. Overall I highly recommend this place!!

Renee L.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We each ordered one of the holiday set meals. The dishes were unique, not what you find at every other Thai restaurant. I loved how were were able to order one set and try various dishes, including dessert. My friend's favorite was the green curry ribeye. He said it was very flavorful. He thought the crab was okay and he also enjoyed the shrimp. I enjoyed my chicken and pork rib soup. Although the ribs weren't strongly flavored, I enjoyed their tenderness and the soup. Reminds me of Chinese soups. The papaya salad had a kick and the coconut black rice with longan was a nice, mildly sweet way to finish the meal. The waitress even brought a bowl of coconut pudding for my friend's birthday. The restaurant was spacious and not crowded at all on this MLK, Jr. holiday. The waitress was even nice enough to change my reservation to a slightly later time since I accidentally went to Hed11 by mistake. Thanks!

Christina W.

Yelp
Unassuming restaurant tucked in an alleyway in FiDi, the stellar reviews here definitely well deserved! We had the chicken set and the beef set, where each came with mixed rice, curry, and some sides. I loved the papaya salad which definitely had nice spice kick to it, and the curries were very flavorful and well portioned. We were left stuff before dessert was served, but who doesn't have an extra stomach just for dessert? ;) I really enjoyed the coconut custard dessert, it hit the spot and wasn't too sweet. Service was efficient, however it does get pretty busy for dinner without a reservation, so you may end up with bar seating. We ended up having them cater for a small baby shower and appreciated how well packaged everything was. Our friends raved about the food and even asked us where it came from, so definitely a solid recommendation for a casual dinner that won't break the bank considering their standards sets are less than $30, and the seasonal ones are not much more. Cheers!

Amy Z.

Yelp
Brussels sprouts were super good! The interior of the place is also really nice! I'll say it's more upscaled than normal Thai restaurants. The service was pretty good, food was decent also

Yee Aun T.

Yelp
Cute in concept but unfortunately I didn't enjoy the food very much. I got the pork belly which was a small portion and bit stiff. The sides are average (like I can get the same papaya salad elsewhere ya know). I know it's a bento but it just feels like they skimped on the main to serve way more rice and sides

Namratha P.

Yelp
I love the idea of having set menus with different protein options, but I personally think there were some things that could've been improved. I think it's a very nice concept that allows us to try different items and the portions of all the items were good as well. However, I felt a lack of curry or something to eat with the rice as the amount of rice was a lot with more dry side dishes so was missing some curry. The items that I did get in the veggie set were very tasty. Just felt like the meal was unfinished with the lack of curry, or a main dish like flavored noodles/rice. For desert I got to try both puddings offered by sharing with my friend and loved the coconut pudding! Overall, an amazing concept and will come back if the items change a bit for next time!

Yelp
Hed verythai, a tucked-away Thai establishment in the alleyways of FiDi, offers SF diners a compact yet diverse Thai dining experience with their set menus. The concept is pretty straightforward as each set comes with an array of small dishes featuring Thai staples like basil eggplant and papaya salad, alongside a tad larger dish as the "main." My friend opted for the chicken set while j chose the beef. The food was enjoyable though not particularly memorably especially when considering the $28 price point. I feel like $30-ish can leave room for more compelling options in SF's culinary landscape but I digress. The beef set came with succulent, tender chunks of beef inside a Khao Soi soup. The presentation for the sets were delightful and the attention to detail with the assorted garnishes are a nice touch. I did appreciate the variety also. Thai cuisine doesn't lend itself easily to non-family style formats which makes it challenging to explore more than a few dishes in one sitting. But, at least, you're offered multiple flavors in a single meal here. It's a refreshing alternative to the usual pad thai and one curry combo split between two, so it allows for a broader exploration of Thai dishes without the need for a larger group. The service, while polite, did lag noticeably (and even more so as the evening wore on). In the end, it was a decent meal, but not too sure if it's one that would draw me back.

Debbie F.

Yelp
This place is really cute! Nestled in a little alley. The food was amazing! Good quality and nice portions. Service also very good

Silin N.

Yelp
This place is literally a hidden gem in FiDi due to where the entrance is at, redefining what a modern Thai dining experience can be. Visiting for the first time with two friends, I was blown away by the innovative flavors and stylish interior. I opted for the pork belly set, featuring an array of delicacies. The moowhan was a standout, tender and flavorful, perfectly balancing sweet and savory. The tomkha hed was creamy and aromatic, with just the right amount of spice. The pad makhua delivered a burst of flavor, and the Thai papaya salad added a refreshing, spicy kick. Each dish was complemented by a selection of three types of rice, elevating the meal to perfection. Although the portion is not too big for me given I am a big eater, my taste buds were in heaven from start to finish. The interior is beautifully designed, exuding a spacious, modern vibe while still feeling cozy and inviting. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience with their warm hospitality. This restaurant satisfied all my expectations. Given its popularity, I highly recommend booking a reservation if you're planning to visit for dinner; it's a beloved spot, and walk-ins might find it fully booked, especially on weeknights. I'm already looking forward to my next visit with a reservation in hand. A must-visit for anyone craving a unique and flavorful Thai experience!

Nishtha C.

Yelp

Eric B.

Yelp
Great Thai restaurant focusing on meal sets. I normally get pad thai and drunken noodle at Thai places so their meal set options are a nice change and very tasty. Also fyi the entrance is in a small alley I would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Love me a meal full of variety! My friends and I came for a late Tuesday lunch for my birthday in July. Inside had a rustic yet industrial vibe although I personally wasn't a fan of the leftover Christmas decor in the summer. I really liked the set concept of the menu because it simplifies the decision on what to order. I was glad they were able to accommodate my friend who has a peanut allergy. I got the pork belly set, and the sweetness from the caramelized meat worked well with the perfectly cooked spicy eggplant and the flavorful tom kha mushroom soup. The curry beef from the beef set was tender. Mango pudding wasn't available, so we all had the coconut pudding, which was alright but nothing special. The longan iced tea was a tad too sweet but still very enjoyable with all the longan toppings, and the Thai tea and coffees were fragrant and strong in the best way. Overall, the meal itself was yummy, but minus one star for the service. Around this time, they were just changing their hours to close in between lunch and dinner services, but their hours online and outside the storefront were not updated to reflect this. I'm grateful they did not turn us away as they did to others who came in after us. However, the server acted unwelcoming and annoyed and rushed us, and she gave us the dinner menu that did not match the online lunch menu. Therefore, we didn't have the option to order the cheaper lunch sets without the pudding. I'm hoping this was a one-off, and I'm willing to give Hed verythai one more chance because I did enjoy their food.

Kristi Y.

Yelp
Tucked away in a quaint alleyway, Hed veryThai is a treasure waiting to be discovered. This restaurant boasts a unique menu that sets it apart from the usual Thai cuisine. The set menu concept allowed me to sample a variety of dishes. I opted in for the beef set and goodness it was full of flavors! The beef was so tender and the curry wasn't spicy. It also comes with dessert - you get to choose between mango or coconut pudding. I chose the coconut pudding since I LOOOOOVE coconuts and yes it was light and delicious. What truly made our visit special was the exceptional service. The workers were incredibly kind, attentive, and checked in on us frequently, ensuring we had everything we needed. Don't let its hidden location fool you, this gem is worth seeking out.

Phil S.

Yelp
I loved the Christmas decoration and food! Service was prompt and efficient. I ordered a set menu (ribeye and crab meat). The crab meat was flavorful and tender. The rib eye was tender and the curry that went with it was moderately spicy, which paired well with the triple rice blend. The shrimp salad was amazing and came in clutch to remediate the spice :) I loved the coconut sticky rice and mango pudding in the end, it felt like a nice 3 course menu :)

Jon C.

Yelp
I'm surprised I haven't seen this place go viral on TikTok. Definitely a hidden underrated gem! Location is a bit hidden just around Union Square/FiDi in an alley way so it's easy to miss. I definitely recommend trying this place. The ambience is nice and warm inside. Our server was friendly and our food came quick. The menu is unique where you choose your protein (they also have a vegetarian option) and it comes with some sides and even dessert. I got the beef option and my girlfriend got the chicken. Everything was delicious and plated nicely. One thing I will say though is to skip the Thai tea. Was a bit watery in my opinion. Other than that, this place is a 10/10. Perfect place for date night or to bring your family. Will be back soon!

Yelp
Food was amazing and good portions! Everything was tasty, just wish there were more of the tasty sauce in the papaya salad! Server was on her own during the lunch rush. But she was nice and attentive. One of our orders was missed but she was on top of it. We appreciate her service!

Yelp
This place was really good! It was located in a random alleyway though, so I did have trouble finding the restaurant. The entrees come as a set so there are multiple sets to choose from. There is a seasonal menu that rotates- I got the ribeyes and crabs set from the seasonal menu and it was amazing!! My favorite of the set was the ribeye green curry and the Brussels sprouts, both of which had really good flavor. The lotus and shrimp salad was not my favorite as the shrimp was sous vide. The mango pudding was also so delicious! Overall, you'll need to expect to spend around 1.5-2 hrs here as the food comes out a bit slow and the dessert comes after you're done with the meal.

Yelp
After hearing about hed 11's Michelin star, I wanted to check this place out and I was not disappointed. I do love the concept of the five course meal. it is a good way to try out their different dishes. they have 5 to 6 different meals to try. I had the ribeye with crab meal and it was delicious. my partner had the beef course and it was great as well. I love that both courses had a lot of vegetables options. The service was impeccable with our server being very friendly and attentive. our water was constantly refilled. The meal ended with delicious mango and coconut pudding. I would totally come back here to try the other courses and bring my friends as well .

Yelp
Fantastic vibey Thai spot. Don't let the alleyway entrance fool you though, space is warm and inviting. Food is very reasonably priced for what you get. Each set menu has a lot more food than you would expect. I had one off the seasonal menu and it was very good. Well balanced and composed meal. This might my new favorite Thai spot in the city! Skip the longan ice tea though, it somehow tastes like coconut water.

Yelp
This Thai spot has a charming ambience and attentive service, which made the experience enjoyable. While the food itself wasn't quite to my taste and felt a bit overpriced, it was cute that each dish came out on a small tray, adding a nice touch to the presentation. Great for the atmosphere and service, even if the flavors weren't exactly what I was hoping for!

Yelp
I went here for dinner around 6pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was mostly empty that time. I noticed this restaurant starts getting more crowded and had a line at around 7pm. This restaurant interior is very pretty and cozy. Once we were seated, we looked through the menu and ended up ordering their set meals. We ordered SET 01: Chicken Rice & Pork Spare Ribs, SET 03: Fish & Shrimp, Thai Iced Tea, and Longan Iced Tea to start. We also ordered desserts since it comes with the meal set so we ordered the Mango Pudding, and Coconut Pudding. Anyways, now about the food! The meal sets we got came with rice and small side dishes which are perfect for sharing! I always love meals with a good variety. I'd recommend this place! All the food was good and it's cool how they sell traditional Thai cuisines as well as seasonal meal sets. Their sets also comes with a homemade pudding dessert, which is a nice way to end a meal.

Yelp
Such a cute spot with cute food. I love the way their sets come with a variety of foods to try. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is tucked away in a small alley way in the heart of the financial district so you might miss it on your first pass, but it's definitely a spot worth trying.

Yelp
Hed verythai had been on my wishlist for a while, and was totally worth the hype! They were mostly empty on a Sunday (early) evening, and our party of 5 got seated right away. The interior was spacious, with rustic decor and a casual ambiance. For drinks, I ordered a Thai Iced Tea, which was tasty - very standard. For food, most of the menu consisted of "sets", which included 6 items, one of which was dessert. I chose Set 03 (Chicken) and upgraded the Thai Style Papaya Salad to the Shrimp Herbal Salad. It was a great way to try a little bit of everything, for a reasonable price! The Gang Gai Massaman was so flavorful and went great with the 3 colors of rice. The Shrimp Herbal Salad was also fantastic, and definitely had a bit of a kick to it. I loved the Tomkha hed, and although it was lighter colored than the Thai-style coconut soup I'm used to, the flavor was familiar and so tasty. The Fakthong Pad butternut squash was also delicious. Initially, the set didn't look like a lot of food, but ended up being the perfect portion size to feel very full. For dessert, we got a choice of Mango or Coconut homemade pudding, and I chose Mango. I don't usually love gelatinous desserts, but this one was very good. I definitely liked the Mango more than my friends' Coconut one. Service was fast and friendly, and we had a great dinner overall - would return!

Yelp
The placewas a bit hard to find but totally worth it but totally worth it. Everything I ordered was delicious. I love that each person gets a set and it's easy to accommodate dietary restrictions. The ambiance is great, tho the space can be echoey and loud if there is a loud group.

Yelp
We walked in for dinner and were warmly welcomed to a cute table. When we arrived, there were only a few tables occupied, but by the time we left, the restaurant was full. The food was delicious, and the ingredients seemed to be of high quality. All the staff members were very friendly, and the atmosphere was great. The restaurant was clean and neat. I would definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Tucked in an Alley in the Financial District, this unsuspecting location is place to a hidden gem. This Thai restaurant is absolutely phenomenal, and the menu offers a variety of choices for their boxes. I had the chicken box and tofu skewers as well as a Thai iced tea that was so delicious, refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. Do not miss this spot, whether for lunch with a colleague or a dinner downtown. Hed Verythai is worth making a reservation!

Yelp
Hed verythai is upscale spot for solid Thai food, with a unique set-style menu. FOOD // The menu offers several set options that focus on what kind of protein you would like, and then it comes prepared with several side dishes. Nice way to sample multiple dishes in smaller portions, especially if your group has varied preferences for their favorite choice of protein. I tried the Chicken set, which came with: + Chicken coconut curry - mildly spicy + Bowl of three types of rice + Coconut milk mushroom soup + Butternut squash - this was a bit bland on its own, but okay eaten in combination with the other dishes + Papaya salad - on the spicier side + Mango pudding - a good end to the meal. Sesame and coconut flakes on top were a nice touch that added crunchy texture. The portions didn't look like much at first, but the bowls were deeper than we expected. We were all stuffed by the end of the meal. SERVICE + AMBIANCE // Service was overall good. Our server was very nice and checked in on us a few times. The service did slow down considerably by the end of the meal as we were waiting for dessert; this isn't a place for a rushed meal. Candlelit ambiance and pretty interior deco. This spot would be great for dates or friend catch-up. They have a bigger table that could fit 10 people. The restaurant is in a quiet alleyway right off a busy road, and convenient to reach via public transportation.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times and love it. The various sets, both meat and vegan have been terrific. The variety is great, the food is always delicious, and I'm satisfied every time. I do recommend the SEASONAL sets as those dishes rotate and I've enjoyed the variety. Highly recommend especially as a great power lunch place off the beaten path.

Yelp
We made reservations the day of for 10 people and boy were they busy! 2 servers and a full house! We did wait a bit for our food ~45 min but we were told ahead of time, we ordered appetizers and drinks to fill the void. She even threw in an appetizer for us! Thankfully it didn't feel like long. The server was so kind and friendly. All of our orders were correct! I had the beef curry combo. I thought everything was nicely cooked and well seasoned. I had some of the crispy fish from my SO dish, and it was still crispy with a lot of flavor. Caution of the heat' But to be honest, although I enjoyed my meal, I really wanted noodles that night. This place isn't a place for traditional Thai food (pad Thai, per sew ew, etc) so don't come here looking for that. I definitely would come back. It's a cute hidden gem. Perfect place for a date night. Parking is tricky of course. Oh, just 1 toilet!

Yelp
Just stunning Northern Thai cuisine. There were so many bright and fresh flavors that we could not stop marveling at the meal. For one, one gets the sensation that a coconut had just been cracked open for the soup and dessert. Another example: we were so impressed by the range of different bright herby and aromatic flavors in both of the sausages, and even the green dip that came with it is worth finishing on its own. We got the beef and pork belly sets, and both were spectacular and came with a hearty amount of meat and a wonderful variety of other accoutrements. Get the beef if you're more in the mood for khao soi flavors taken to the very freshest, most aromatic extreme and big chunks of tender roast style meat; get the pork belly for thick slices of braised belly with chewy fat in each bite. To get here, you turn into an unassuming little dead end street and enter a tasteful if somewhat also unassuming space. But from there service is fast and attentive (also, the servers are dressed in what seems to be traditional Thai clothes). Love that it is such a spectacular experience given all the unassuming elements. Added to the top of our to-return list.

Yelp
I went here for dinner with my friends and really appreciated the experience. The decor was aesthetic, the service was friendly, and the food was delicious. It was unique how their menu is organized. There are different sets you can choose from which allows you to try different dishes. They were good sized portions and me and my friends even had leftovers at the end. We also ordered the alcoholic Thai tea which we all really enjoyed. I would definitely visit again and try other sets, but it is not a place I would go often. I highly suggest making a reservation and taking an uber or public transportation because parking can be difficult, unless you'd like to pay for a parking garage.
