We specialize in authentic, pit-smoked meats prepared in the classic Southern technique of smoking on oak wood. We also incorporate a variety of flavor profiles that represent our local communities. Hometown also serves up a selection of traditional sides and dessert. In classic barbecue style, we offer walk-up service to our counter on a first-come, first-served basis--until we sell out of that day's specially cooked offerings.
"A popular BBQ spot known for its smoked meats, also having a presence in Industry City for a quick and satisfying meal." - Emma Orlow
"Part of Billy Durney’s restaurant group, known for its barbecue offerings and live-fire cooking style. It has multiple locations including Industry City and Miami." - Emma Orlow
"The second location of Hometown Bar-B-Que is just as good as the original, although it’s more casual and has a slightly different menu. Much of the seating is in a canvas pavilion out back between buildings, with a beer-garden atmosphere. Inspired by a New York classic dish and then improving on it, Hometown’s pastrami is a thing of beauty — garnet in color, thickly rimmed with spices, and smoky as hell. Don’t miss it." - Robert Sietsema, Erika Adams
"When people talk about the best Texas-style barbecue in NYC, this place in Red Hook inevitably comes up—and for good reason. They’re serving some of our favorite smoked meats in addition to unique things like lamb bánh mì and tacos with mushrooms and queso. There are a ton of huge picnic tables that accommodate large parties, and you’re going to want to bring a bunch of folks to share moist brisket and pastrami bacon. You order and pay at a counter, and you’ll probably encounter a line—but it moves fast." - team infatuation
"Sometimes we don’t expect much from sandwiches, and then they totally blow us away. Such is the case with Hometown’s pastrami ($28). Could it possibly be better than the versions at Katz’s and Frankel’s? Well, it is, piled high and pink on the bread and sliced thick." - Robert Sietsema
