Designer beef barbecued in very stylish digs at Howoo - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"With a Bitcoin ATM in the waiting area and a dark, gold-accented dining room that looks kind of like where the banker sits in Deal Or No Deal, Howoo isn’t your everyday KBBQ restaurant. We’d actually recommend booking this Nomad spot—an even more upscale option from the group behind Nubiani—when you’re trying to impress someone: a client, maybe, or a colleague who really appreciates A5 wagyu from Miyazaki. photo credit: Urimat Hospitality Though you can order a la carte here, Howoo is a place to go all out. So while the Prime package ($155 for two) includes four fatty, American wagyu cuts, plus a massive amount of of banchan, stews and noodle dishes, once you’re here, you might as well spring for the premium Japanese meats in the Elite package, which is $195 for two. The meal is coursed out and several rounds of food arrive before the beef even touches the grill at the center of your table. Banchan first, with sesame-forward japchae and squeaky oyster mushrooms, then a sweet and jiggly egg soufflé. Then, it's the main event: various cuts of beef, which are aged for at least 35 days in a room you can peek at from the main dining area. photo credit: Will Hartman photo credit: Will Hartman Pause Unmute While all the wagyu is exceptionally marbled and tender, the three non-marinated cuts (filet mignon, short rib and striploin) do blend together a little when surrounded by so many louder flavors. But the staff do a wonderful job of the grilling, which leaves you and your dinner partner in a sort of black box-type space to cut deals and talk shop. They'll be adding lunch soon, if you're looking for more of a power lunch situation. Just come hungry—when you factor in the round of kimchi stew or noodles at the end, it’s a lot of food. Food Rundown Spicy Cold Noodles These spicy cold noodles are a must order. They’re loaded with hot mustard and vinegar, which helps deglaze all the beef fat still clinging to your teeth. photo credit: Urimat Hospitality Kimchi Stew In a vacuum, we like this kimchi stew. It’s spicy, the broth is nice and tangy, and it comes with fluffy aromatic rice. But between this and the noodles for your “second round” choice after your meats, we’d choose the noodles—they just work a little better with the rest of the meal. photo credit: Urimat Hospitality Green Tea Ice Cream This little paper cup of smooth, grassy green tea ice cream is the perfect send off. And after all the salty things you’ve eaten, it’s a nice reprieve." - Will Hartman

Best Restaurants in Midtown East, According to Eater Editors | Eater NY

"Howoo is a newly opened 250-seat restaurant, one of three to debut in this location. Order from various options, including the elite package ($385 for four), which includes six cuts and banchan. The non-Korean cuts like rib-eye and A5 Miyazaki wagyu start the progression, and it ends with a traditional Korean spread of galbi, stews (doenjang or kimchi), kettle-pot rice, and naengmyeon made with lotus leaf noodles that are unusual for New York. The room is sprawling, the bar is grand, and there are options to check out the kitchen, such as the area reserved for making tofu." - Melissa McCart

NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"In Koreatown, Howoo packages their KBBQ options in “Prime” and “Elite” packages—with a starting price of $155 for two people. The hospitality group behind the restaurant also plans to open a few more spots: like a restaurant specializing in handmade tofu and a raw bar." - will hartman, bryan kim

Went there on Sunday night. The space looks really big, high ceiling which is perfect for a BBQ restaurant. We ordered the prime package for 4, a reasonable price for the amount of food we got. They started us with side dish before the BBQ and then cold noodles. The side dishes are unique and delicious, and the beef have a very good quality, and flavorful.

We got the Elite Package (Grand - for six). Food was very delicious and service was nice. My favorite part was the atmosphere - it was so spacious and well air conditioned. I love the way the grill is set up. It’s built so that the smoke from the food gets sucked in on the side of the grill, so you don’t have to worry about your clothes smelling afterwards. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the service. My waitress was at our table the entire meal, grilling and serving us. So there was absolutely no privacy. Given the cost, I was also shocked that rice or soup didn’t come with the meal. Overall, the experience was good. But at its price point, it could’ve been much better. In my opinion, Cote is far more worth it.

We had the elite package for two and it’s definitely a lot of food, but they give you some quality cuts which makes for a great dining experience. I appreciated the wine pairings as well. Counter seating is actually very convenient. The main dishes took some time to come out though - thought they could be faster there.

I came for a dinner one Tuesday evening without a reservation and waited for about 20-30 minutes (highly recommend a reservation, but if you didn't get one, it's not the end of the world!). The interior of the restaurant is spacious, dimly lit, and has LOTS of seating for groups of different sizes. They have a fairly extensive drink menu, with good cocktails and wines to accompany your meal. For their courses, they offer two packages: their prime and their elite (with the main difference being that their elite contains wagyu). I got their prime package and still thought that everything was delicious. Each cut of meat was soft, tender, and SO juicy. The staff was really good at cooking the meat and also telling you how to eat it/what to pair it with. Banchan was pretty solid and came with a variety of veggies and traditional Korean side dishes. The package also came with your choice of naengmyeon and stew, which I thought was pretty solid, as well as matcha soft serve at the end. Service I thought was only okay, in comparison to similar KBBQ restaurants. It was much slower for the pacing of the meal and while the staff was nice, they weren't as friendly as the other places I've been to. Overall, great higher-end KBBQ spot, but I do think that they have some kinks that need to be worked out.

I went with my family and we loved it! The quality of the meat was amazing ✨you can really taste the difference. Everything was super fresh and perfectly cooked. The service was also great, everyone was very kind and attentive the whole time. It’s definitely a nice spot to enjoy a special meal and spend time together. Would totally come back!

Absolutely amazing! I can’t recommend this Korean restaurant enough. The food was incredible—so flavorful, fresh, and perfectly cooked. Every single dish we tried was a hit. And the service? Truly next level. The staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in. You can tell they really care about the experience. If you're craving delicious Korean food and top-tier service, this spot is a must. 1000% recommend!

We had such a great experience here. The atmosphere was elegant but still felt relaxed, and the service was friendly and attentive without being too formal. You could tell they really paid attention to the details, from how the dishes were plated to the timing of each course. The food was excellent—especially the meat, which was high quality, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The portions were satisfying. We left absolutely stuffed! Overall, it was a really enjoyable night out. We’ll definitely be back.

We visited this restaurant twice during our trip to New York City, and my kids highly recommended it as the best dining experience they had during their stay. The meat quality was exceptional, and the service was attentive. The side dishes were authentic Korean flavors, which added to the overall dining experience. *recommend menu: marinated galbi
