One of the best Italian ever had. The seafood and ingredients were fresh and top notch. I especially love the fried calamari. Will def think of Il Brigante when it comes to Italian food.

Il Brigante is a fantastic Italian gem tucked away in the historic South Street Seaport. It's the kind of place that feels both cozy and sophisticated, perfect for a night out. The food was absolutely delicious—I'm still thinking about the authentic flavors and quality of the ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, from the pasta to the perfect balance of spices in their sauces. What really sealed the deal for me, though, were the cocktails. They were expertly crafted and paired beautifully with our meal, enhancing every bite. It’s clear the mixologists put a lot of thought into their creations. The ambiance of the restaurant itself is a huge part of the experience. Absolutely loved this place! PERFECTION! The pasta tasted incredibly authentic. It is my second time visiting this restaurant and will definitely come back when I visit nyc next time. The service was super friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. I especially adored the bread with balsamic and olive oil. The appetizer was fantastic too, super fresh, beautifully presented and full of flavour. I enjoyed everything from start to finish. Can’t wait to come back! ☺️

Lunch on Friday al fresco at il Brigante on a quiet side street near South Street Seaport. We started with the arancine. For main courses we had gnocchi alla Sorrentina, fettuccine Bolognese, and spinach fettuccine with truffles, mushrooms and tomatoes, along with a crisp Vermentino. It was a long, leisurely and delicious lunch!

The atmosphere and service are great, but the food is just okay. Great spot for casual drinks, wouldn’t recommend for dinner.

Busy, popular & usually packed on weekends but that didn’t stop me and my friend from enjoying the evening of her birthday. Food came fast and was well cooked. Staff was efficient & food was great in portions.

Cozy trattoria in the Seaport area. Nice decor with exposed bricks and various old Italian tchotchke. Seems to be a popular spot even in off pick tourist season. My spaghetti carbonara was good. The service is cold and unfriendly, unfortunately.

This didn’t taste like authentic Naples style pizza because crust is too thick and crispy. Cheese has a plasticky texture and not best quality. I think it’s just low quality mozzarella instead of usual Naples good stuff. It’s not bad but just mid for me. Service and ambiance are terrific, though. I will come back to try pasta.

Recently came here with the kids and family to enjoy a meal, and it was a great experience! The pasta dishes were delicious, and we also tried the chicken and Bronzino, which were really good. The calamari was another hit. The drinks complemented the food perfectly, and the service was super friendly. It was a bit light due to how packed the place was, and if you're sitting inside, expect it to be louder than usual. Overall, the service and food make it worth coming back again! Regarding Yelp, I recently had my Elite status removed after 8 years because I'm a business owner. Despite not being related or affiliated with any food businesses--only a local real estate office in NY--Yelp managers believe a business owner shouldn't be an Elite reviewer. In my opinion, being a business owner shouldn't disqualify someone from providing honest and fair reviews of unrelated businesses. My reviews are meant to be helpful and honest, and I believe that shouldn't affect my Elite status.

This restaurant is very small and cozy with a few outdoor tables. It's very close to the Seaport. Service was ok but a little pushy. The pizza we had as an appetizer was just meh...OK. My grilled chicken breast was unfortunately tough and dry. The green salad was good and had a tasty vinegarette dressing. They have ONE bathroom in the whole place and if you are waiting on line for it, there is nowhere to wait except right in the doorway to the kitchen which is a tight squeeze from all the waitstaff activity.

The food was absolutely fabulous. It tasted like being in Italy - so authentic, fresh and delicious! My son said the ravioli was the best he'd ever had. My spaghetti cacio e pepe was perfect. My husband's lasagna was so delicious, and my daughter's rigatoni was splendid. Our two vegetarians had plenty of options. Service was fast and friendly, prices were reasonable, atmosphere was nice but comfortable, and we were able to get in on a Friday evening without a reservation. If you're looking for a great Italian dinner, you've got to give this place a try!

Our go to Italian whenever by the seaport. Meatballs are just like grandmas and the sauce is perfect! Inside is cozy and rustic. But I usually sit outside during the warmer months. Service is always on point for how busy it always is.

As soon as we walked in, my partner and I were seated by a lively and friendly host, but problems arose as soon as we sat down. Service: The waitress helping us gave my partner and I attitude when we needed a little more time deciding what to order (this was the very first time she asked if we were ready to order) and to have a bottle of sparkling water instead of tap. She visibly rolled her eyes. When she brought the bottle of Pellegrino and glasses out, she placed my glass right on the middle of the menu (the very menu I was looking at in order to decide what to order). I thought she wanted us to order quicker? We ultimately laughed both instances off, thinking it was an off day for her, but then noticed she was very polite and smiley to a couple that was leaving (she smiled and joked with them because they almost left their leftovers behind). I'm guessing it wasn't an off day after all. She was just off for us. All the other gentlemen that we interacted with were pleasant and friendly, so it's not a restaurant thing; it's definitely a person thing. Ambiance: Their outdoor setting is quite cozy and romantic looking. We didn't get to enjoy it, though, because we walked in too late. But the inside is equally as cozy and romantic. The brick stone walls and dim lighting adds to the coziness of it all. Food: The carbonara wasn't bad, but flavor wise, it was lacking. Definitely not cheesy enough. But most importantly, it was lacking a 'wow' factor because the dish tasted dead. The chicken and sausage with roasted potatoes and green beans (blanking on the Italian name): the chicken was breaded and the sauce it was coated in made me think I was actually having Chinese food. The only things that reminded me that I was having an Italian dish were the sausages, potatoes, and location I was in. Overall, I cannot picture myself coming back nor can I imagine myself recommending this place to anyone I know.

This place was my go-to when I worked in the area, for both lunch and dinner. Great food, great service, very low-key unhurried ambience. A good place to entertain friends from both out of town and nearby. Never disappointed after countless visits.

IL Brigante is a cozy Italian restaurant on the South Street Seaport. We came here around 8:30 PM and were seated immediately. I really liked the decor - roses on the table and lamps that were dim, but illuminating enough to see our menu and food clearly. Service was friendly and attentive. We got the insalate di pomodori (fresh tomato's with olive oil and seasonings on top of arugula) and the gnocchi. Fresh bread is complimentary, definitely get it! We got focaccia, which was steaming hot when it came out. It was a little thin, but super tasty with bits of fresh sprigs of rosemary. I really loved the salad (insalate), the tomatoes were fresh and juicy and I thought it was dressed just right - not too soggy or salty. Definitely order this to add some freshness to your order! I thought the gnocchi was solid (7/10) - just a little thick for my liking but the sauce was good. I would've liked a little kick of heat or more seasoning on the dish overall. But, in general, we had a good experience here!

Awesome Italian restaurant! Haven't been back in a few years and it was still fantastic. Ordered almost the same meal as my first appearance and it was just as great. The service is very good someone is always willing to help. Outdoor eating is nice, inside seems to be a little crowded and there is only 1 bathroom. This is definitely a must try for the food, there is definitely better Italian restaurants with the ambiance though.

Cute little Italian place near South Street Seaport. I love the grilled branzino. It was so fresh and flavorful. My family love their pasta dishes with seafoods as well. The tiramisu was light and had strong rum flavor. The crunchy shaved dark chocolate topping added interesting texture to it. Service was friendly and the place was charming. We will definitely return.

Lovely cozy authentic Italian restaurant. Service is amazing, very attentive and knowledgeable with suggestions. The place isn't that spacious, so just keep in mind you'll be close to the next table. They also provide outdoor seating as well. Bread is served complimentary with balsamic vinaigrette and oil. For the appetizers, We ordered the fried Calamari with Shrimp. So delicious. For the entree we got Penne Al Pomodoro, & Farfalle alla Campagnola- which is bowtie pasta sautéed with broccoli rape, sundried tomatoes in wine and garlic. Loved it. & last we ordered breaded cutlet with cherry tomatoes and arugula. Overall the food was amazing. We never eat Italian, and this did not disappoint

They're already decorated for Valentine's Day. The ambiance is definitely suitable for a date. We went on a Tuesday evening and the service was relatively fast. We shared Bruschetta and carbonara. Both of which were so delicious I only remembered to take pictures after the first bite. To wrap up, I got the cannoli and he got the tiramisu. I enjoyed the entire night and the food! Would come here again! Maybe next time for their pizza.

Very good Italian with a cozy feel! I stumbled upon this place by chance with very low expectations and I loved it! Tried three different pastas and all great. The staff was really nice and hey answered all our questions and made great recommendations. I will be coming back

I went here over the past weekend with a group of friends (6 of us total) we were charged a 20% service charge. This was fine as we would have tipped 20% anyway. The bill was around $240 total, and we gave them $300 cash to pay. They did not offer to give us change and put the money away in the register, and we assumed that the waitress would bring us our change as $300 on top of our $240 total (mind you, this ALREADY included the service charge) would have been almost a 50% tip. They didn't apologize or address it after we asked for our change. I would not recommend.

Nice vibe, helpful staff, lively atmosphere, very family friendly. Pretty solid pasta entrees. I opted for the rigatoni ala Norma which was good, lots of eggplant. I also sampled the bolognese which was tasty too. Not the best Italian but certainly a good meal. Location is also phenom- can stroll the bk bridge before/after dinner.

Decided to go here for dinner a few weeks ago. The place is cute and cozy. We went on a Sunday so there wasn't any wait We got the veggie pizza as an appetizer. This was REALLY GOOD. the veggies were perfectly cooked and the tomato sauce was delicious. For our main dishes, we got the penne pomodoro and rigatoni alla norma. The sauce was really good, but the portions weren't huge. I'd go back!!

This place is very good. I happened to walk by it while walking in the seaport and the ambience is great! Extensive indoor and outdoor seating I really like it! Reasonably priced and very good portions size make this place easy to enjoy! The pastas were both excellent and the service was fast! Definitely recommend! Get the carbonara and seafood pasta!

If you're looking for staff that are as efficient as a Swiss watch go to il Brigante. Located at 214 Front Street down near Wall St. This tiny, gem of a restaurant is a MUST VISIT. What a superb place! I had the seafood with ink dyed linguine. Out of this world! Here are some pics.

Solid Italian restaurant for a cozy and casual Italian meal. My group was seated in the outdoors structure, which was heated and nicely decorated. We actually ended up preferring eating outdoors since the indoors area seemed more crowded with a tighter table space. Food-wise, we all unanimously enjoyed the Brigante pizza, which had a nice balance from the prosciutto and arugula topping. We'd skip the Funghi e Tartufo next time - it was more of a regular mushroom pizza that barely had any truffle flavor or aroma to it. We also tried the Fusilli Silani, and it was a simple but tasty baked pasta with sausage and cheese. Overall, a decent Italian meal but also pricey for what it was. It started getting pretty busy later in the evening, so make reservations if you want to come by during peak dinner hours.

I was prepared to not like this. Many of the reviews seemed over the top, but Il Brigante is some of the best Italian I have ever had. Yes maybe the best Italian food in Manhattan I have had since Giambelli's 50th Street in the 1980s. Those who know, know that is saying a lot. You can tell almost everything about an Italian restaurant by it's pasta and it's eggplant. The Penne Pasta Bimbi with a simple red sauce was perfect, none better anywhere. The eggplant, Parmigiana Melanzane was the best eggplant I have eaten in forty years. I am still in shock, as I though I would never find a great old school Italian in Manhattan again. Perfectly flavored, not salty at all. (Over salting any food, but especially Italian is the mark of a low-quality kitchen.) I will be ordering from here weekly from now on.

Solid Italian spot in the cutest of neighborhoods. Stopped by for lunch on a Monday and there was plenty of available seating. There is no lunch specific menu - we ordered burrata as a starter and two pasta dishes to share. The bolognese was hearty and the fettuccine was delicious. The raviolis had a buttery sage sauce which was a nice lighter contrast to the heavier bolognese. The bread was fresh and tasty and came with some olive oil-balsamic mix. Overall the meal was very pleasant but I wouldn't say that anything really stood out. Solid spot to get some go to Italian dishes. Service was also attentive and on point.

Great find. Right off the Fulton st. We stopped in after the movies. Amazing pasta n pizza. The drinks a are refreshing. Love NY there's no smoking in or outside the restaurant. Service is very friendly. The tables are nicely decorated.

I booked my daughter's 18th birthday a day before her birthday celebration and I am thankful that they allowed me to have a reservation for 22 people without having to pick prefix dinner. Other restaurants I had called demanded prefix menu, which was too pricey and impractical. The place was cozy and the ambience was great in a little street in the South Street Seaport. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed his/her meal. I loved that they didn't charge us for the cake's slicing fee (we brought our own birthday cake). The staff members were also helpful in figuring out what to do in terms of appetizers for a group of 22, most of these are teenagers. They were all great (from the servers to the kitchen staff) and did not rush us in finishing. Ivan, who I had spoken to the day before, and making the reservation, was exceptional in answering all my questions albeit I called so many times with them. Huge menu selection! I highly recommend this place, and will definitely come back!

We went here on a busy Sunday night. The food was alright and we were confused about who our waiter was. She only came to check up on us once during the entire time and it almost seemed as we were bothering her no matter what we did. Ambiance was nice though since we were able to get a table outside.

I've been twice now - once with some coworkers and once with friends. First time, I wasn't that impressed with my dish (linguini w/ shrimp and zucchini) but was thoroughly impressed with the wine selection. Second time was much better food-wise (maybe first time was just an unlucky miss?) I got the fusilli silani, which was QUITE good, and our table got bruschetta and burrata for apps, both of which were perfect. Given that, it's probably one of the better Italian places around Fidi, and I would go back for the food. One downside is that my party of 7 waited close to an hour between apps and our main courses, so the service was pretty slow on a weekend night.

I have recently moved into the area and have been coming to this amazing family run business for a few months now. My fiancé and I wanted to go out and enjoy a Monday dinner since we were both off, we always love hearing about the specials but our waitress didn't bother offering any specials and when we asked about them she seemed annoyed that we even brought it up. Overall we enjoyed the food but service needs to greatly improve.

Stopped with my wife for 2 pizzas, on Saturday. Terrible. Low quality ingredients and undercooked. Would never go back. For what it was n the lack of quality n taste, it was expensive. A beer, glass of wine n 2 piazzas $110. Insultingly.

The food at I'll Brigante was delicious. We shared a friturella mista which is fried calamari and shrimp, it was crispy and delicious. We also had the penne Al pomodoro that was very tasty. Service was very good. The restaurant is quite charming and close to the seaport and it's piers.

This restaurant was hopping the Saturday night we were here. We made a reservation and when we arrived our table was not ready and we did have to wait. We even confirmed twice that week so that was a bit disappointing. When we did get seated about 15 minutes later the staff was hopping and attentive. We had seafood linguine and the lasagna plus a shrimp appetizer and wine. The food was absolutely amazing. The best part is that the food was served piping hot which for me is a must! The server can add grated Parmesan and freshly ground pepper to your dish which is superb. We watched the staff turn a table around - people were waiting- in less than one minute when people left and then new customers were seated. We would definitely come back!

At Il Brigante you can find good Italian food served in a cute spot featuring exposed brick. Enjoyed a late lunch here after a long bike ride.

On a Friday night, I met up with two of my friends (one came all the way from Australia and my bestie from Long Island) in south street seaport for the Santa Clauses interactive experience at Watermark and decide to have dinner around the area afterwards. Originally was gonna go eat at Fishmarket but it was packed full. So went and looked elsewhere and stumble upon this restaurant. Also had a slice of pizza as a snack earlier at the new location of Di Fara Pizza around the area. (Read that review later if interested). So glad we decided on this restaurant. The food was delicious, hands down. Don't think I remember a more mouth watery seafood pasta. Tasted so fresh and savory. The Branzino my friend got was well seasoned too. The grill chicken my other friend got was also grilled well. Wasn't too dry. I can't stay anything bad about the food except it was pricey. But on pare with Manhattan prices. I haven't given a place 5 stars review in a long time but this place deserves it. The restaurant was packed full too. So we actually didn't get to dine inside. Instead they had an outdoor area they made that was enclosed, we sat in there which was also well packed but not to capacity. The host came over at the end and asked us how was the food. The waiter came by from time to time at appropriate intervals. The last thing I want to comment on was the LED table lights that looks like candles on the table. It was so cute and well designed, I took a pic because I wanted to buy one or a few depending on the price. I found two companies online that sell it. It's not cheap. It's Italian design. And cost $149 a pop at retail price. I ended up buying one because I really like it. But at a slight discount price. Only one, cause it's too expensive to get more. It's rechargeable and portable which I like.

Make reservations. Homey, warm, relaxed atmosphere. Calming, classy music playing in the background. Great for a date or a family/friends gathering. Staff were courteous and did not bother us too much, which we preferred and appreciated. The menu is pretty extensive, which can accommodate picky eaters like me. They also do daily specials. Prices are very reasonable for the popular location by the water. Tons of people were ordering pizza, which smelled so invitingly. Will need to try that next time I'm back. $22 Rigattoni were tasty, drowning in delicious sauce. For anyone who loves a lot of sauce--this is a place for you! There's nothing worse than restaurants that are stingy with their sauce. $26 veal cutlet stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella was a winner. The portion was a medium size, enough to fill you up, but not too big to stuff you till the brim. The cutlet is best devoured while hot, so the mozzarella oooozes out of the meat. Delicious white wine sauce reduction for the meat. Side of roasted potato wedges and carrots & asparagus were surprisingly delicious. I am not a fan of such simple veggies [because most of the time they are not cooked properly], but I thoroughly enjoyed these flavorful veggies! The only downside was that the food was a bit too salty. Prepare to get dehydrated and drink tons of water after your meal. The only inconvenient aspect worth noticing is that there is only one bathroom stall for the entire restaurant. The bathroom is clean and atmospheric, with fragrant candles and live orchids. But the fact that you have to wait in line to use it, is very inconvenient, especially when the restaurant is full. Will be back to try more on their menu!

3 stars for food and wine and 1 additional star for service. We came here around 8:30ish on a Saturday night half expecting to be turned away as we had no reservations. But these guys have done such a good job of the outdoor seating and were able to find us a table right away even though the restaurant was bustling. We got a fish dish and mushroom pizza - while the quality of the food was good, there just was no seasoning at all. We had to salt everything we ate. It's a good spot if you are in the seaport area and are in the mood for Italian - be prepared to season though!

We were looking for a spot for dinner and found this great place on a whim. We started off with the bruschetta, which was incredible. You could tell that the tomatoes and onions were very fresh and the bread was delicious. We had a glass of wine, and I had rigatoni with Bolognese. It was one of the best Bolognese I've ever had... The pasta was cooked perfectly I would not have changed a thing. My boyfriend got the prosciutto and cheese stuffed veal and he Ate The whole thing! He said it was phenomenal. Our waiter, was very kind and sat us even though they were going to close in 20 minutes.. in the staff was very attentive. We are so glad that we found a spot and I look forward to coming back. I also loved the decor. It felt very homey and very comfortable.... I felt like I was at my Italian grandmothers house. It was so fantastic.

Had a wonderful dinner here after a show at pier 17. Me and one of my very good friends were looking for somewhere to have dinner after a show and were so happy that we stumbled upon this place. We were so excited to see that there was fresh pasta on the menu! We tried the Fritturella Mista, which was a huge portion of calamari and some shrimp. This dish was cooked perfectly all the seafood was so tender. We also tried the Rigatoni Funghi e Salsicci fresh rigatoni pasta in pink sauce with mushrooms and sweet Italian sausage. We shared this dish and since I don't eat meat and they were very accommodating about putting the sausage on the side for my friend to enjoy. Over all great dinner. Will definitely be back.

Very cozy unpretentious spot by the seaport. We were pleasantly surprised with excellent food. Got one of the specials as an appetizer - zucchini flowers stuffed w cheese on pesto sauce. For mains we got the pasta w sausage and seafood pasta (excellent! Everything cooked perfect and generous supply of seafood (I did add cheese. Even though a no no in Italy). In addition we ordered a bottle of red and some bread w olive oil to start. All in all a pleasant evening. Homey interior. Not rushed and friendly staff. Would return and recommend.

New York is home to really extraordinary Italian food and this place not far from our hotel makes that point clear with reasonable prices. The restaurant itself is in the midst of an area of NYC that is set up for easy walking and has the cobblestone streets of days gone by. Walk up dining is easy earlier in the day but I get the feeling that it's hopping later in the evening. I had a veal saltimbucca dish that blew away earlier versions. Pounded thin and stuffed with prosciutto, sage and fontina cheese this was a hearty meal covered with a flavorful sauce. The accompanying potato and seasonal veggies were cooked to perfection and I cleared my plate. My dining companion's chicken cutlets did the same. You will enjoy your meal here.

We happened to walk upon this place after a disappointing meal at the place before. I wanted some pasta so we came here. Got seated immediately outside and got to enjoy the nice weather and a good meal. The service was good. I couldn't remember the name of my dish but it was good. They didn't have too much of a selection on pasta though.

I have both dined in, and ordered delivery from here. I have tried the burrata and the gnocchi alla sorrentina- both of which I thought were solid dishes (nothing extraordinary). I did find the service to be above average- the manager and his daughter (a waitress) made the night fun and unforgettable. Always hard to find good hospitality in NYC, so it was much appreciated. Note: I really enjoyed watching the birthday celebrations. They flicker the lights on and off, bang pots and pans together, and make a very loud commotion for the birthday person. Very fun!!!

About 45 minutes into apps and dinner, mid-bite, plates of food in front of us, we were asked by Navid, the manager, to move to another, smaller table or finish dinner quickly to make room for another, larger party. Sooooo, super-disrupted, my wife and I and 5 plates of food moved. The food turned cold. Nobody cared. The server shrugged. Still we left a tip since a busboy helped us move our plates. We won't return. Ever. We don't recommend Il Brigante because we had a terribly disappointing experience there.

This place is perfect! My new favorite italian spot in new york. We got two delicious pastas and a bottle of wine. Service was great, atmosphere is nice, and overall a great place to catch up with friends or go on a date.

Manager Navid asked us to move to another table as we were mid-way through a big dinner, about 45 minutes in, or hurry up and pay so another, larger party could get our table. We were steamed. Server person shrugged and turned away. Busboy helped us move plates to another table. We left gratuity for busboy.

Il Brigante is still going strong after so many years from when I first became acquainted with it through my ex--2008. Located along the cobblestone streets of the South Street Seaport district, Front Street, Il Brigante always met or exceeded my expectations. When I want good, solid Italian food in a rustic setting (pre-Covid), Il Brigante was an old reliable since i worked in the area for 10 years. Some of my picks were their pizza (I tried many including those with prosciutto when I ate red meat)---highly recommend the mushroom with truffle oil. Indescribably good. Their pastas were always excellent and one of my favorites was the Rigatoni a la Norma (with eggplant). Their menu is extensive and includes daily specials. You can still get your Il Brigante fix during the pandemic since there is outdoor dining (btw, their wine list and quality of wine is nothing short of spectacular). After having an excellent meal, you can end it with either a delicious Cannoli or Tiramisu (my favorite). And while you're at it, make sure to throw in that Cappuccino. This is one restaurant to keep on your rotating visit list especially when in the area. Solid.

Love this place even more after my second and third visits because I'm now realizing everything on their menu is awesome. Eggplant is divine. Pizza is delicious like authentic Italian pizza. Lamb chops - wow! I wasn't expecting to have the best lamb chops I've ever had at a hole-in-the-wall Italian spot. Had the the breaded veal too - great! Cannot go wrong with the Tartufo dessert.
