Ice cream with rye smoothest texture! Loved the Turkish coffee and mocha flavors. Didn’t expect the key lime graham to be way tartier. Good contrast though with the rest of the sweeter flavors. Staff is really nice and optimistic. Given the ‘lab’ feel of the place, it’s not cozy like your usual ice cream places. Still good though.

Great desert spot after dinner. Plenty of flavors. Excellent customer service. They let you try the flavors. No dine in tables. Only benches. Street parking only. Might be your spot if you are looking for gelato.

One of a kind gelato. The smoothest gelato I have ever tried. Fav flavs: black sesame ice cream, figs, cheddar cheese ice cream, mascarpone ice cream with green apple sorbet, avocado, basil ice cream, butterfly pea flower ice cream, cherry, raspberry, any coffee flavors. The best ice cream I have ever had. Its Italian origin.

The gelato here is amazing! So creamy and light. Definitely go for the 3 flavors. I tried the green tea, honey lavender and zabaglione. The service is great and they rotate flavors every day.

This place has unique flavors and most of them are pretty good! Got the earl grey tea and black sesame, while my friend got cucumber and cantaloupe sorbet. 2 scoops for $6 in this economy is wild get it while you can. They make everything in house too!

I went to this place after it got covered in a Modern MBA video. Wow! The guy that runs this is absolutely committed to getting you the tastiest gelato you've ever tasted. The texture was top notch. The sorbets (yuzu and guava) were out of this world, they're basically pure fruit with no added water. Unbeatable price. The video explains the business model: this place primarily sells gelato to fancy restaurants all over the city. The storefront is just there to buffer demand and get fast feedback on new flavors. You can get the same stuff you would get at Minetta Tavern or any number of fancy restaurants in this no-frills space. You get a Michelin star dessert experience for 6$.

I asked what flavor do u recommend, the cashier says their pistachio is the best in the world in a really calming voice. I tried it, and he was 100% correct. It was sooooo creamy and nutty, it’s almost more like a pistachio paste instead of a gelato. Also, their dark chocolate, basil, and chai tea were all amazing.

3 words : white sesame gelato! Heard about this place for a while and finally made it, and when I tell you that the white sesame gelato surprised me! I'm a fan of this rare flavor in general and this was the best I've had, with a sweet but not too sweet nuttiness running throughout it that tasted so clean, powerful, and addicting ! I would come back just for that flavor. I also got I think the strawberry which was good, too, and stands above other typical strawberry gelatos. That being said not sure if this place breaks my top 5 for gelato but def belongs in the top 10. I think we have really strong gelato in NY do the competition is competitive. Regardless, 5 stars from me !

Great gelato in the area! (it's the kind with the tops covering it so you know it's good...) I had the chocolate flavor but there were so many options- mainly fruity and some standard flavors, nothing too crazy. But, it was homemade, and you could really tell. Super stretchy- no frills. Quite good. The owner is really passionate about his craft and takes time to speak to each customer. His workers are also very nice and accommodating. Space was clean and a nice AC break from the heat.

Delicious gelato at reasonable prices. Loved how they had a wide variety of flavors (it looked to be about 30 spread between two freezers) along with some unique ones like amaro. Staff was friendly. The tastes I had, along with my final order (honey lavender and hazelnut), were AMAZING. My qualm is with logistically how the place is set up - there is no list of flavors written anywhere, so people bottle neck when they get to the front to figure out what flavors they want to try (you get a max of 2) and then ultimately decide what to get. Also was surprised at how high the freezers were, which would be difficult for children to see and pick as well. If they had a board with flavors, I think that could help expedite the ordering process. Ultimately, I would return for the delicious gelato, but likely would try to go at an off time to avoid the craziness I encountered on a warm summer evening.

Not too thrilled of this gelato spot on the corner of Ludlow and Houston. When we walked in, there was this horrible stench, and we later found out that the floors by the freezer was leaking, there were drying machinery tucked at the corner. We waited about 10 minutes, there were not many people working, only 2 people helping and there were large groups ahead of us. There were two displays of sorbet and gelatos. The flavors stood out to me, such as the carrot flavor sorbet, sesame (which I ended up getting!), I also got the blueberry. I got the 2 scoops mix. For 2 scoops it was $6, which is definitely steep for such a small portion. Overall, I do not plan on returning. I'll stick to my italian gelato shops.

Haven't been on the LES in a while, so gelato was a must!! ILDG is always my go-to and i usually opt for a different flavor every time. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Amanda. She had an infectious smile, so it was only right to smile back! She was extremely friendly, patient and personable. I spent some time deciding, and it was well worth it. Two scoops of their lychee sorbet gave me the fix I craved! Additionally, Amanda provided a much needed reminder that good people [especially in NYC] still exist. Thanks again, Amanda! I'll be back again soon :-)

It was $6 for two flavors on a cone. I wish it was less steep of a price. But the apricot and orange hibiscus sorbet was delicious. I don't often see these flavors. I like they had an abundance of sorbet flavors. The only unusual thing is they only let you try two flavors per person. I'm used to being able to try 3-4 if not more in most places.

Decent but nothing special ice cream. I got the pistachio and milk chocolate with graham crackers and it wasn't too sweet. But would like to try something else next time.

Lots of unique flavors. Everything tastes fresh and homemade, but not everything is delicious. I like the aesthetic of the place more than the actual gelato...Went with vanilla and strawberry. The vanilla was very good, you could taste the vanilla bean. The strawberry tasted like ones you can get from the grocery store.

This modern gelato store has a futuristic/factory vibe to it. You can find unique gelato and sorbet flavors in the LES. I ordered the pistachio and the green tea flavors. Definitely recommend!

I love that you can see the machines they have in the back making the gelato. You know that it's freshly made gelato, and the name really fits the theme of the place. They have very unique flavors, and they do let you sample some before you decide. My friend and I split a double scoop of avocado and apricot. The gelato was super smooth, no icy bits at all. Immensely creamy. While I enjoyed the flavors of both, I thought it could've used stronger flavors of both. They have rotating flavors, probably depending on the season.

I am kind of in love with this place (other than the fact that it always smells like cow poop when I'm here). I love how innovating their flavors are and the fact that they have as much sorbet options as ice cream. I also really appreciate the clean and minimalistic look of this place, feels very industrial and different from other ice cream places in NYC. All the flavors are always incredibly amazing. Here are some of my favorite: - Green Apple Sorbet - The sorbets here are incredible! I love that there are so many apple variety, and you can genuinely taste the green apple-ness of this sorbet. The sorbets are all very packed with flavor and even have little chunks of apples in it. - Red Grape Sorbet - I wasn't quite sure about this one before I got it, but turns out the red grape was delicious! It didn't taste artificial at all in comparison to a lot of other ice cream stores that serve grape flavor, and I loved the little chunks of grapes throughout the ice cream. - Yuzu Sorbet - Another amazing sorbet. I feel like I eat so many yuzu-flavored things but never actually have eaten a yuzu fruit before, but either way would highly recommend this as a lemon alternative. - Milk Chocolate Malt - This is some of the best ice cream you'll ever have. The gelato is incredibly stretchy, kind of reminds of that from Eataly, and the flavor profile is so intense (similar to eating truffles). I love that you are able to "play" with the ice cream by stretching and folding it. Highly recommend when you're in this area. Honeslty this is one of my favorite ice cream places in Manhattan and I hope this will be yours too!

Yes please!! Stopped here yesterday when I went on a food tour. Wasn't gonna get anything at first but boy am I glad I changed my mind. Had no idea what flavor to get. The girl that helped me was so nice and I tried 3 different flavors before I decided. I'm picky tho so I have to make sure I like what I get when it comes to ice cream!! I ordered a two flavor cup with dark chocolate and milk chocolate chocolate chip. SO FREAKIN GOOD!!!! It was a bit expensive at $4.75 for the size of the cup but the taste made up for it. I left a happy customer and would definitely go back!

Cute gelato place that's been around for many years. I finally decided to give it a try this weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of sorbet and gelato available. All the sorbet flavors sounded really refreshing, but there were only two workers and a good amount of patrons so I didn't want to bother them about samples. I did sample the mango gelato because my two friends said it was unbelievably good. I thought it was ok but not rave-worthy. I settled for a cup of black sesame gelato and pistachio gelato. I wish I had sampled both flavors first, but I have no regrets about the black sesame. I liked how the gelato was smooth and fragrant but contained black sesame seeds in it for a nice textural contrast. The pistachio on the other hand was too grainy with too many pistachio pieces in it. And the pieces would've been better if they were big chunks but they felt more like grounded up pistachio with bigger flakes here and there. I would not get the pistachio again but I'd definitely be back!

- good price - delicious unique flavors It looks a little bit like a science lab vibe (which actually may be on purpose) but it's a great gelato spot! The flavors are really fun and some authentic Italian ones too. I got the Olive Oil and Basil flavors which were so delicious together. The prices are so crazy reasonable, my two scoops was $4.75, which a regular two scoop of ice cream in nyc is normally $8 minimum. There's a line here sometimes but it moves pretty quick. I went on a Sunday afternoon with no line!

I had to come here twice in 3 days! Must try! They have hundreds of unique flavors (ex: cream cheese, cheddar cheese) and most seem really exciting. I tried peanut butter, banana, cucumber (one of my favorites), strawberry, banana chocolate chip, and basil (another unexpected favorite). The nutty flavors like peanut butter have an unbeatable texture, but all of these flavors blew me away. I love the option to get 3 or more flavors in one bowl/cone. The staff are also very friendly. Service was great! Yes yes yes.

I ended up here while in the area craving ice cream. I didn't know I would find the tastiest gelato in LES! We were greeted with bright smiles, patience, and positive energy our whole time there. Guests get two samples each and they were very helpful with suggestions and any questions people had. The staff is definitely the best part of the vibe there. We got one cup of Stracciatella & Peppermint Stick topped with caramel syrup, amaretto crumble, and walnuts! Also, one cup Stracciatella and Amaretto Crumble topped with whipped cream. It was so, so yummy our only regret was not getting an extra scoop I will definitely be back

Upon entering, I was overwhelmed by the variety of options for gelato. Since they don't offer samples here, I asked the gentleman behind the counter what he suggested, and he kindly gave me some recommendations for what was popular. I ended up going for the Toasted White Sesame and the Pistachio. Both flavors I thought were great and I liked that I could actually taste the flavor it was trying to achieve. It ended up being about less than $5 for the normal size (which comes with 2 flavors), so I thought the price was fair. Overall, I liked the service, ambience, and quality of the ice cream here and I would recommend checking it out!

I ordered the Thai tea and black sesame. Both were very delicious and the black sesame was nutty with a slight sweetness to it. I'll definitely come back to try the other flavors when I'm in the area again. Note: all flavors are randomly offered and once a container is emptied, it's typically replaced with something different. Also, no samples allowed so that's a bit of a bummer. Kinda just have to go with your gut and hope for the best.

I think he may have peered into the future and seen the genius of Il Laboratori Del Gelato. They are in here innovating like a 1503 Leonardo Da Vinci, committed to furthering the human experience scoop by scoop, flavor by flavor. Some flavor options I found interesting, and slightly alarming were Black Sesame, Guinness, Brown Butter, and Fig Fresh Brown Turkey. Those all just sound like a roll of the dice, but I think happiness comes with the occasional dice roll just to keep the adrenal glands on their toes. I came here with my friend who thinks his food opinions are the pound for pound #1 on the planet, but tbf this one absolutely hit. He was obsessive over the texture of the ice cream, picking his flavors based off texture as opposed to flavors. Why am I telling you this? I don't know, but it felt like a necessary detail. He is a very creative guy. I went with a scoop of olive oil and a scoop of cookies and cream, because I'm a grown man and I know what I like. Olive oil ice cream is the new wave I promise you. I'm at home plate with a bat in my pine tar filled hands pointing to dead center on this one. Word to Babe Ruth. I think in another 20+ years, this place will be the Robin to Katz Batman. Go over to Katz for a sandwich, then pop over here to grab 2 scoops of ice cream for the finishing blow to your taste buds, sending them into a blissful food coma.

I love this place, I've been here three times and all the flavors have impressed. I've had cucumber and ginger, ube and Thai tea, and a combination I don't recall. And the best part - this isn't the overpriced ice cream I thought I had to get used to when eating out. Two scoops with a sugar cone is 4.75. Not dirt cheap per but reasonable for the quality especially compared to other places.

This place has been around for a while and it was my first time trying it. I was craving dessert after having brunch nearby. Their gelato, which tasted and felt more like ice cream, was the perfect dessert. They have very unique flavors, choosing two was the hardest part. Eventually, I opted for the toasted white sesame and maple walnut. Both were very good. The maple walnut was loaded with walnuts and not overly sweet. Definitely worth trying, very friendly staff!

Yessss. All the flavors and the late closing time. For short people like me, it's a little hard to see the flavors especially if there's a long line cuz then people get annoyed with you. Wish they posted the flavors up high. But 5 big stars: lovely gelato!!

I've been coming to Il Laboratorio del Gelato since they had a tiny window on Orchard (?) Street in the early 2010s, and they haven't lost their magic since scaling up into this much larger facility a while ago. The gelato is generally more impressive than the sorbet here (which can tend to be on the icy side, like many sorbets), and among the several dozen flavors that cycle out of the scoop case, there are always ones that I've never seen before in a frozen dessert--which surprises and delights me. Don't ask for tastings--they don't do them--and avoid coming right when school lets out, when the place is mobbed with kids, parents, and nannies dripping sticky gelato everywhere in chaos. Il Laboratorio del Gelato is practically the definition of "a little treat" on the Lower East Side, and you should try a flavor that's outside your comfort zone; I can almost promise you'll be delighted!

Il laboratorio del gelato always has solid gelato albeit I've had better. I forgot what flavors my friend and I got but on a hot summer day you can't go wrong with most of them. My go to is typically the Thai iced tea but they have another fun flavors like cucumber and Turkish coffee. When I'm in the area, I will return to try other flavors.

Anyhow, I found my favorite sorbet place in the Enter Il laboratorio del Gelato in the lower east side, Manhattan, NYC. They've got over 300 flavors using all natural ingredients. You can see the large chunks of fruit in the sorbet or gelato. Nearly all the sorbet flavors are vegan. I had the lemon ginger and Fuji apple sorbets. On a warmer day, I could have had more. $4.75 for two scoops in a cup was well priced. The staff was very friendly and helpful. In terms of ambiance, you can see they make everything onsite. Enjoy! a friend of ours really likes this ice cream spot so our party of 4 went to try it after dinner! they have a lot of different flavors that are all very simple. they also don't offer samples here but they'll give recommendations of their favorites! the space is very clean and there is limited seating inside by the walls, but it doesn't take a lot of time to finish your ice cream anyway so it's no big deal. i'd say the scoops are on the smaller side but that doesn't stop them from being PACKED with great flavors. good prices too! fuji apple: TASTES JUST LIKE EATING AN APPLE. so crazy. i'm definitely going to be getting this again in the future... wow. a new favorite! earl grey: didn't really taste like earl grey tea, it was more vanilla-y in my opinion black sesame: fantastic. not too sweet. can't give a much higher compliment than that dark chocolate orange: this one is definitely for the CHOCOLATE lovers. it was such a deep flavor of chocolate which worked really well. not much orange flavor, just chocolate.

Cheap eats of NYC $4.50 for two flavors on a cone Ube was a deep purple, and the flavor and texture was spot on. The pistachio was deeply pistachio-y and really great. I thought this was really well priced and flavorful. I'd avoid the shakes cause they were like $10 for a milkshake...which seems a bit much. Located right near the subway, and right across from the famous Katz deli!

3.5 stars because the gelato was actually quite good. They have a lot of options and unusual flavors. Unfortunately they do not give samples, which normally is not a huge issue but when you have so many innovative choices, it would be helpful if customers could try 1-2 before buying. Also there is a very limited amount of seating here despite the fairly large space (by NYC standards).

It located pretty central which makes it's easy to get to. Huge store and has a nice aesthetic. Gelato was delicious but the sorbet was disappointing. Service was quick and efficient. However, they don't allow sample here which is kinda sad!

This spot was so good and the price was reasonable. I got the passion fruit and thai tea. My friend got the cream cheese and pear. All of them were not too sweet and we could taste the ice cream flavors clearly. Our fav was thai tea!!

I'm no gelato aficionado but il laboratorio del gelato makes some damn good gelato. This gelato shop looks like a lab--the lights are fluorescent and nearly everything is white. I didn't like the ambiance, but the gelato makes up for it. Unlike other gelato places in Manhattan, il laboratorio del gelato is both tasty and affordable. I ordered two flavors, mocha and hazelnut, which cost me less than $5. The mocha tasted like a rich espresso covered coffee bean, and the hazelnut was wonderfully nutty, and buttery. I give this place a 10/10, and will definitely be going again to try some new flavors! (Though they don't provide samples which made choosing a flavor very tough.)

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time now. My sweet tooth hadn't been engaged when I passed by the previous times. Today I was glad I had skipped the frap at Starbucks on this warm day, and the stars were aligned!! I got the simple 2 scoop, of 2 different flavors. Boring for most, Creme Fresch and Vanilla. The Creme fresch was almost a little too "milky" for me, (almost cheesey taste...but not quite) but it paired well with the vanilla. Not a lot of space inside and 2 dudes plopped down next to me on the bench seats and their strong cologne had me take my treat on the road. The counter person was very nice, friendly and VERY knowledgeable when I heard her interacting with other customers. Tap and go simple payment makes it really easy. $4.75 and worth it. Gonna explore some other flavors.

I've been meaning to come here for the longest time and finally got to try it recently. There are so many flavors to pick from so it gets hard to choose but they do give you two samples to try something which is nice if you are curious about any flavors that may be questionable for your palette. I ended up getting the Yuzu Mint and the Ginger. I was really curious about the yuzu mint and the worker said it was one of his favorites so I tried it and really liked it. The mint isn't very prominent which I like since I prefer yuzu more. The mint is more in the back end but makes it a bit more refreshing. Initially I didn't know what second flavor I wanted and the worker gave me a list of pairings that he thought would fit with the yuzu mint. Ginger was one of the suggestions and even though I didn't sample it, I was glad I got it. It was prominent in ginger flavor but not overwhelmingly spicy. I would definitely come back to try other flavors because they have so many. It was also nice and creamy and not too heavy compared to french style ice cream. The space is also quite interesting because it almost has a open kitchen vibe in the back but also a mix of a laboratory feel. Seats are a bit limited because they only have a couple benches by the window, but aside from that, there is a good amount of space if you dont mind standing if the space gets full.

While I enjoyed the interesting and large array of flavors on offer here, and the staff was very friendly, the lack of sampling is a major detractor. You're asking a lot of your customers when they need to fully commit to an entire scoop of flavors like butternut squash or mastic. The gelato was good, I especially liked the raspberry, and the blackberry when I mixed it with the honey chestnut, but it wasn't the best I've ever had. The Turkish coffee was wildly flavorful, but not something you can eat a lot of, while the mango was fine, but not out of this world like some mango sorbets I've had. I would stop by again, just to try several different flavors if I happen to be in the neighborhood, but I don't know if this is a spot I would go out of my way to visit.

This is my favorite place to get ice cream on the Lower east side! They have so many different flavor options including ice cream's and sorbets. The ice cream is so creamy! It is fairly affordable too in comparison to that extremely overrated chain that people love for some reason. The only downside is they do not allow taste tests, but I understand why they do not do this.

Very creamy gelato, black sesame was rich in flavor and better than my expectations. They have a lot of options to pick from, some is very unique. Not the cheapest ice cream but give it a try if you walk pass by. There is no table - not a stay in ice cream shop.

This was probably the best gelato that I've had since traveling to Italy. The gelato is light and so full of flavor. I had a two scoop cup with pumpkin and white chocolate, and they were a great combo. The prices were very reasonable for gelato. The inside is small, no room to sit so plan on taking your gelato on a walk. If I lived in NYC, I would get this gelato all the time.

So happy my friends and I made a stop here after Katz Deli. All the flavors here were such a hit! After sampling, it was hard to narrow down my choices, but I went with yuzu mint gelato. It was such a refreshing citrus taste. The variety of flavors can cater to different palettes. They've got fruits, chocolate, black sesame, earl grey, and much more. The prices and portions were good. Our server was patient and kind. I would definitely come back.

This gelato spot used to have another locations in the West Village but at least their very large location is still open. Conveniently located pretty close to a subway and also nearby some popular tourist food spots, I can see why they this spot is still doing well. They are known for their very unique flavors was their Instagram posting whatever flavor concoction they're thinking of. They list that there are 230 flavors but of course they're not all here with some of them being seasonal and others just not being made occasionally having 48 flavors at once which isn't too shabby at all. I would almost recommend calling to make sure they have something but if it's not by scoop, they have even more flavors by pint. I personally heavily prefer their gelato over their sorbet. I have tried a sorbet or two (such as the Green Grape) which I found a bit bland and icy and if I'm paying this much for sorbet/gelato, I expect the flavors to pop. The best of the sorbets I have had is the Black Currant though. No complaints at all about it with a pleasant tartness and a good texture. From the gelato, I have tried a good amount. The Black Sesame and Green Tea are both very solid (though the scoop it's definitely a good amount bigger at Chinatown.) The nut flavors such as Pistachio or Hazelnut are quite good but yet again I prefer other spots such as the similarly pricey Venchi over it (especially for pistachio.) The Mascarpone is good as well. My favorite flavor by a landslide is the Black Mission Fig. It has proper pieces of fig inside and is just sweet enough and I have bought a pint for a reason but they don't always have it. The flavors here are unique and they partially get away with the prices thanks to this. Go out of your comfort zone and you'll find something different and probably pretty tasty. I definitely prefer Morgenstern's for unique flavors but this is still good though I wish there was more consistency in terms of what I liked here.

I discovered this place as a dessert add on for an experience I had at a different restaurant. It was the salted caramel and my party and I collectively agreed that this place has the BEST gelato ever. The salted caramel is so unexpectedly amazing! This then brought us to this place, and we unknowingly came in 5 minutes before close. The person helping us had AMAZING service still, really connected with us, and took time to walk us through the flavors and his recommendations. (If that was me, I would be annoyed that someone came in 5 minutes before close) but he seemed happy to help us and so warm! Amazing service all around. I ordered the white cheddar ice cream because it was SO unique and I love cheese. I was not disappointed. It was such an experience!!! Just as unexpectedly amazing as the salted caramel. They make all the gelato in the back - so that means it's fresh and made with love. I have no doing that all flavors are of the highest quality!!! I'll definitely be coming back to try all the flavors!

Excellent customer service!! I trekked all the way to this location after a craving for their unique flavors. The location is a bit out of the way for me, but so worth it. Some of the flavors that they had on the day I went were butternut squash, ube, carrot, to name a few. I got four scoops: black sesame, kiwi sorbet, fuji apple sorbet, and tangerine sorbet on a sugar cone. Yes, four scoops is a lot and it was bound to tip over! So I asked for a cup to invert my cone into. My friend's four scoops tipped over and they happily remade her order. My other friend dropped her cone, and it was happily replaced. Like I said, service was friendly and they made sure that our experience was enjoyable. They are super patient! I loved the combo I got and my favorite was kiwi sorbet. It had actual pieces of kiwi in it! The quality is unbeatable and price is quite reasonable. I will definitely be coming back here to try out the different flavors they have. I wish they had more locations! Il Laboratori del Gelato is heaven on Earth for ice cream lovers.

Wow I love how many unique flavors they have here!!! I got Honey Lavender and Basil, and the Basil really blew my mind!! It tastes exactly like basil, but sweet and creamy, and refreshing at the same time!! Can't wait to come back to try more flavors!!

This place deserves a 5 +++. Service was a 5. I like the look of the space which resembles a lab. They didn't have my favorite honey basil. Forced to try new flavors. Now I have new favorites. Got 4 flavors, mango, blackberry, salted caramel, and orange. All the flavors were yummy and smooth and creamy. The mango was exceptionally delicious. My new favorite.
