Best Chinese Hot Pot and Korean Barbecue in Charlotte | Eater Carolinas

"This Korean barbecue option in the university area is bright, spacious, and hits the spot with tables equipped with grills. On the pricier side, starting at $35, choose from an all-you-can-eat range of meats like brisket, beef tongue, and pork belly, but also from marinated bulgogi and spicy or curry pork belly, along with traditional Korean spicy rice cakes, radishes, pickled veggies, dumplings, kimchi, and soups. A premium menu at $60 offers finer steak cuts like ribeye, filet, and wagyu steak, more seafood options like scallops, additional sides like fishcakes and cold noodles, and Melona pop desserts." - Shindy Chen

Iron Dish Korean is such a fun and delicious experience! I loved being able to cook the food right at the table on the gas grill—it made the meal interactive and exciting. The quality of the meats and sides was excellent, fresh, and full of flavor. The staff was super friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere is lively and perfect for hanging out with friends or family. If you’re looking for great Korean BBQ with an awesome experience, this is the spot!

I was so impressed how warm and friendly everyone was and the food was absolutely delicious. it started with the most amazing salad. I loved everything I wish they were closer To where I live,so I could go more often.

We had a GREAT… EVERYTHING! Didn’t get a chance to take pictures of the food- but eat it! The spicy rice, garlic stems.. all of the things. The service was fantastic also - Selena was great and Jason came over and was quite cordial. The kids loved it too. 5-stars all the way.

Overall meat was decent. We got the premium deal. Boneless short rib and LA ribs definitely the best. The wagyus were just ok honestly. The steak is massive then the other one was real thin. I think the other meats were better. Rice cake was actually fried and crunch which is rare to find and I enjoy it like that. But it comes on a stick and the sauce isn’t very covered so you kinda have to cover it and mix it in yourself Waitress was great though. Real attentive and checked on us very often.

My girlfriend and I were craving some grilled food on a rainy day and decided to try this Korean BBQ spot we randomly found on Google Maps. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype — this place is seriously overrated. The video is the second table we got...... 1. Leaky Roof Woes – No matter where we sat, rainwater managed to drip dangerously close to our table. I guess the rain loves wagyu as much as we do. The setup was uncomfortable and not what you'd expect from a restaurant that charges premium prices. 2. Dessert Disappointment – When I inquired about dessert (since it was part of the menu), I was told there was none left. I politely asked if there was a replacement or alternative, but the manager offered no solution — not even a simple direct apology. 3. Unprofessional Management – My interaction with the manager was frustrating. His only response to my concerns was, “What do you mean?” He deflected blame for the leak onto the property management company, yet neighboring businesses don’t seem to have the same issue. Whether it’s unwillingness to fix the problem or a lack of customer service training, the experience left a sour taste. 4. Shoutout to Our Server – On a brighter note, our server (whose name I sadly didn’t catch) was incredibly kind and patient. She took the time to explain the situation and did her best to make us feel comfortable. Her professionalism stood out in an otherwise disappointing visit. Hopefully, the owners take feedback like this seriously and make some much-needed improvements.

Visited here while seeing family. Our group was around 12 people and they accommodated us fairly quickly. Wait was around 35 minutes and it was a Friday night. Service was exceptional and the food quality was great! Everything tasted well seasoned and the staff was quick to change the grill plate out when we needed it. We've been back several times before and each time has been wonderful. Highly recommend this place if you have a hungry group!

Here are the drawbacks: 1. Someone or some people should complete a deep clean that includes wiping the walls, dusting, washing the walls. 2. Call the listed number and you won't get through. I mentioned it at the door and they shrugged like "yeah we know" and nothing else. 3. $60/pp on premium yet they cite the tariffs as the reason for not one dessért item being available. Ok, cool ...then lower the price. I mean doesn't have to be half but $5-8/off per person. 4. I don't like the cut for the salmon. What works:. 1) The menu option including the dumplings and offered salad. 2) Scallops. They are not U16 but grateful they are not the little day boat scallops. 3) Good size lobster tail 4) deveined tiger shrimps 5) identifying eating categories for gluten, allergens, et al. Hope they'll offer longer operating hours even for the weekend .. open at 12 or 2p. Hope they'll start to take tap and pay (e.g. Google wallet) Hope they start to answer the phone or figure out the line issue. Our server was really sweet. The runners were great. Parking is tough in this center so we'll walk as the sidewalk goes to the shopping center. I can't imagine how parking. Will work once Aldi's open June 2025. I'd recommend and warn you about the cleaning that needs to take place. I didn't feel rushed with the 2 hours and I abhor timed eating but you'll be satiated well before 1 hour. P.S. they have real butter and not margarine. So kudos for sure.

Trendy Korean barbecue restaurant in the University area. Cook your own food at your table. Unique decor, like a semi industrial theme. Great spot to celebrate.

Yelp
My husband and I were looking for Korean food for dinner while visiting Charlotte for the weekend and came across Iron Dish. We came starving and left happily full/served well. It's in a midsized shopping center, and parking was pretty easy with lots of spaces in the shopping center parking lot. We came slightly before the typical dinner (again, *starving*) and were seated immediately. We ordered our dishes thru server, and they were delivered super fast. I thought I was going to pass out from being hangry, but I was soon dancing and enjoying the food! I'm usually a pork belly girlie, but do not sleep on their beef dishes. We wish we got more of beef at Iron Dish than we did because they were that good! The interior was pretty "rustic" with exposed concrete here and there. The table benches were connected to the tables next/behind you, and if you have a big person sitting next table, your seat will be shaken the whole time. Not my favorite activity to do while I'm eating, but the food was amazing. So it's a solid 5 star for me! I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area :)

Yelp
Very reminiscinent of the Iron Age dish on Chicago and Atlanta (the name, salad and setup/aesthetics) but better as they offer Scallops and other seafood items. * Service was nice and pleasant * Runners are efficient and quick * Offerings are good but can be great when they figure out how to fix the dessert offerings for $60 a pop I'm not expecting excuses just find an alernative or lower the price until you do. I didn't care for the chopped up salmon pieces. There time limit is what I'm familiar with and it's ample to try everything on premium. Someone knows the phone isn't operational but was apathetic when I asked about it. Like, yeahhh... ** What didn't work/Can be Improved ** - A deep cleaning would service this place well. Walls, table tops, underneath and windows plus the seats. - noodles were overcooked. I don't need aldente but japchae has a firmness that's unmistakable this offering didn't. - No idea why they don't take tap pay but here we are learning card swipe only. Can recommend with warnings. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
We went here for because my youngest has loves Korean BBQ. The pride was reasonable and the food quality was great as well. There was an option to go for premium cuts however we just stayed with the regular menu and was just fine. Our server was great, attentive, showing and explaining some of their customers favorites and always on time. The vibe was rather chilly but what can you expect when theirs a bunch of of grills in a place. We will defiantly be back.

Yelp
My son took me to Iron Dish Korean all you can eat BBQ for a celebration and I have to say it was pretty good. Our menu consist of beef bulgog chicken, and shrimp. And for dessert, we had a Samcanco ice cream sandwich which is shaped like a fish but taste like and ice cream cone long and a chocolate eclair had a baby. We were seated quickly in a metal booth with a stone table cook t top and leather seats. The walls were metal as well. Our waiter (Jordan) brought over a menu and we selected three meats. My son informed me that there is a 20% per person surcharge for all uneaten or unfinished orders of meat, so keep that in mind before you order the second round. The overall decor of the restaurant is lacking, and it could stand to be a little cleaner, but overall It was a nice experience so I would give it another try to see if they decided to tidy up for the evening customers.

Yelp
Since Let's Meat closed this place was a great substitute! Loved the experience, atmosphere, and the quality was good. If you can, get the steamed egg, pieces everything together! Definitely one of the top spots in Charlotte, and the staff stays attentive. I don't think you'll leave disappointed!

Yelp
Korean BBQ was a first for me and it was so delicious. I honestly did not know what to expect. The food is very simple to cook once we got the hang of it. I wasn't a fan of some of the side but other than that it was a WIN! Expect to pay a moderate price but it is all you can eat!!

Yelp
Was there celebrating my friend's bday and felt like i wasted my hard earned money in this place. There were 6 of us and our bill was $500. 60 bucks per person and dessert was not included! First ordered Wagyu and the first steak they brought out looked legit. Tasted good and was tender. Subsequent orders of Wagyu we got what looked like a whole different cut of steak. These were definitely not Wagyu. Didnt taste nor looked the same. Maybe i was tripping, so i ordered another one. Not the same. Most definitely a bait and switch. On the other hand, the waiter was very nice. Automatic 20% gratuity added to our bill....meh But yeah, at 60 bucks a person for the premium menu, I would rather go to KPOT.

Yelp
The restaurant is always clean. You might have to wait a few minutes for a table but it's worth it. The wide variety of food options are wonderful and delicious. I recommend trying a bit of everything. The service is always good.

Yelp
Beef Brisket (5/5): Nice and thin with a good buttery flavor. Spicy Rice Cakes (4/5): The fried skewers of rice cakes (ddeok) were awesome but I wish there was a better sauce (I think it was just gochujang). Spicy Chicken (4/5): Not spicy at all, but the sweet marinade was tasty. The chicken itself was decent. Pork Belly (4/5): Pretty typical pork belly. Corn Cheese (4/5): Very sweet and a bit watery, but I liked it. Fried Dumplings (3/5): Nicely fried, but the filling was just ok. Spicy Bean Sprouts (3/5): Surprisingly sweet. Also not spicy at all. Beef Chunks (2/5): Marinade was too sweet and didn't really complement the meat well. It was also too tender? Beef Bulgogi (2/5): The meat was mushy and there was a little too much marinade. Love that it's all you can eat RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Definitely getting this again) 4 - Good (Would get it again) 3 - Ok (Might give it another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Yelp
Brutally Honest & Thorough Review: Iron Dish Korean BBQ (University) Overall: 2/5 Service (5/5): Our server was very kind and accommodating. He checked on us an appropriate amount of times and brought everything we needed quickly. We tipped 30% because we were so grateful for his service. Meats (2/5): Excluding the bulgogi, which had a nice expected flavor, all the meats were completely flavorless. It was odd because I could hear the meat sizzling and I could see the fat, but it did not smell or taste like meat. The Wagyu was a huge disappointment (we sent it back) for a taste I can only describe as "old." We tried the pork belly, beef tongue, wagyu, and bulgogi. Seafood (3/5): We tried the shrimp. I smothered the raw shrimp with gochujang before grilling and that gave it a beautiful caramelization and fun flavor profile. Otherwise it was fine. Not fishy smelling, which I appreciate. Banchan (5/5): The sides were delicious! Everything pickled was so full of flavor, crisp, and a perfect pair to our other items. Cocktails (3/5): They we're not gross, but they were not special either. They tasted like a cocktail you'd get at Chili's or an arcade. I also noticed that they did not have some of the garnishes that are listen in their menu description, which always bums me out. I ordered the "in the clouds" drink because wanted the Lychee boba, but it did not have the boba. Grill (3/5): IT WAS NOT HOT ENOUGH TO COOK THINGS PROPERLY. I tried turning it up, but our server would turn it back down. Even at it's highest setting, I could not get nice sears on things. It was frustrating and took a long time for things to finish cooking properly. Atmosphere (3.5/5): It was kind of a sterile environment with obnoxious music. It sounded like Ai generated the music. The sets were comfortable and I can see it being fun for a larger group. Overall, the atmosphere was just okay. Some art on the walls, nice lighting or KPOP would be fun, for example. Overall, Im just happy that University has something like this to offer at all. I don't think I'll go back (I've had better Korean BBQ in Charlotte) but I think it's a fun spot for college kids who want an interactive, casual experience. It's not too expensive ($35 for basic AYCE, $60 for elevated AYCE) and you can wear sweatpants if you want lol!

Yelp
Ambience was great. Welcoming for groups and families, but also for dates. Service was good. Our food orders came quick for a Thursday night, but small little items were forgotten at times. We got the basic bbq selection ehich was plenty for the price. I do wish they had rice sheets as I prefer to eat my meats as a lettuce wrap with rice sheets. Less carbs lols. I love the kimchi! One of the better kimchis I've had at a kbbq. I wish we had the option to make our own sauce dips, but their options were good too. Overall, I had a great time and a great experience. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
A great place to eat AYCE kbbq! The service was great, the sides were really tasty, and the vibes of the restaurant was cool but simple. They have a lot of options for different meats to order! And our server was really attentive but not overbearing. She checked on us often but not annoyingly. Helped changed the grill whenever we needed to as well. Food was tasty, great for our group of 4 so I'm sure bigger groups would appreciate it too. Also, great soju! Always love that. As someone visiting Charlotte, this was a great experience!

Yelp
I went here with some friends after we found out Let's Meat was closed. I believe the price per person was around the same, but I don't think the food quality and service was as great here. The meat itself was decent--just not as flavorful as Let's Meat. The beef bulgogi is really the only thing I'd recommend. The sides were good, just didn't taste super fresh. The staff were friendly, but we frequently had to search around for our waiter. He kept disappearing into the kitchen to chat. We wouldn't have cared if we were busy eating, but it was at times when we were ready to order more. We have a time limit and we've paid an arm and a leg to be here--help us out here! The interior was alright--our table was a bit sticky and the bathroom felt sticky too. Generally it's an ambiance I'd expect from a restaurant in UC. Overall, we had a decent time, but this place is not as good as Let's Meat--I hope they reopen soon!
google avatar

Kel G.

Yelp
This KBBQ is a little far from home. But came here since Let's Meat is closed due to a recent fire. It's AYCE for 2 hours. They offer beef, pork and chicken for their proteins and a large variety of side items. To name some, salad, rice, soup, kimchi, pickled radish, pickled cucumber, rice cake, dumplings, etc. They offer marinated and un-marinated protein; I do not prefer the un-marinated one. It has no flavor and the dipping side sauces they offer aren't good (to me). I would recommend sticking to the marinated proteins. I love that they offer more side items then Let's Meat, which helps because they don't offer seafood options like shrimp or squid. Overall, it's a good fix for KBBQ cravings.

Yelp
Located in Charlotte's University area, this casual yet trendy restaurant is the perfect break from the norm. With delicious food, served fresh, this is the perfect spot for groups. Grab a table, fire up the grill, pick your meats and get ready to eat until your heart's content. FYI - Please be aware when going with a group that you all must order from the same menu. For example, if one person orders from the Premium menu, everyone must order from that menu or the group will have to be seated at different tables. We didn't have any issues with this, but it is good information for others to know before they visit for the first time. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, provided great cooking tips, and overall was very friendly and hospitable. What we ate and drank: Cocktails: Asian Glow - strawberry soju, vodka, yuzu juice, lychee syrup, strawberry syrup, ginger ale Peaches, Peaches, Peaches - vodka, peach soju, peach syrup, peach calpico, peach milkis, yogurt boba Busan Sunset- coconut rum, peach schnapps, pineapple juice, pineapple syrup, lime juice, mango boba Meats: Beef Bulgogi Beef Brisket Curry Steak Duck Breast Garlic Pork Belly Lamb Chops Scallops Wagyu Steak Side Dishes: Cold Noodles Corn Cheese Fishcakes Fried Dumplings Green Salad Seafood Miso Soup Seaweed

Yelp
I ordered three different meats which I started with beef, chicken & pork. Those were amazing and very filling with just one round of servings. I was able to customize my own mocktail and the bartender did amazing and checking to make sure it was to my liking! The place wasn't crowded so we were able to order and have food very quickly.

Yelp
My husband and I went here on a double date on a Sunday evening-- it was an interesting experience. It feels like a cross between the melting pot and Chima, although much more casual. You cook your meats at the table, and can have as many meats and sides as you want come to your table based on your menu preference. I would say the service was average, and there was a sign in the bathroom that indicated staff were not maids or janitors and requested people clean up their own vomit........ which rubbed me the wrong way because obviously you are janitors or you have a janitor in your establishment or else how does it stay clean? As I said it was an interesting experience, but I'm not sure that I would go back unless I was invited for someone else's party or something of the sort. The food we had was average, but nothing blew our skirts up.

Yelp
One of the best Korean BBQ restaurants I have been to. The food is always good( make sure to get the premium menu). The service is very good and quick, you're not waiting long for anything. Ambiance is nice and they have plenty of space. I get the premium menu every time I visit to get lamb chops, wagyu steak and they recently added lobster. Try the fried dumplings and the cream corn. For the price I think it's an amazing dinner option. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
My favorite Korean BBQ in NC! The food is always great & my friends & I are always happily full after a couple of rounds. Iron Dish has 2 different menu options for their AYCE, the $35 & their $60, which is their premium version & offers more meats (lamb chops, duck breast, kalbi, etc). We usually choose the $35 option since it's a very great value. The meats are always fresh & my favorites are the spicy pork belly, garlic pork belly, beef brisket, & beef bulgogi. I love their misc/side items too, like their unlimited fried dumplings, miso soups (they have a 3 different kinds), lettuce wraps, corn cheese, etc. Service has always been attentive & welcoming, & as for the location it's even better since it's not too crowded. (close to UNCC campus).

Cierra G.

Yelp
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Sat quickly, no one acknowledged our party. Four different workers walked by not one word or remotely paying our table any attention. After ten minutes, we departed the hostess said nothing after witnessing it all. Zero stars for $60+ per person they need to improve quality of service.

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
The food was horrible. The only good thing was the wagyu steak, but at that point, it's not worth the price at all. 60 dollars for only being able to really enjoy one thing. The service wasn't bad, but the table wasn't even fully clean. It still had crumbs on it. The menu says that they do desserts included in the premium all-you-can-eat, but that's a lie. They no longer have ice cream because it's too expensive for them to carry it. Honestly, a horrible food experience and a waste of 140$. If I could, I would leave zero stars. Don't come here.
google avatar

Kim D.

Yelp
Three stars because the waitress was very attentive! After an hour drive , we were told a 20 minute wait... ok no problem although 1/2 the restaurant was completely empty! It was wild! 40 minutes later we were sat from there the service was pretty fast. The food was good . The experience was fun. They add 20% for a tip is fine but they tax it , and well to be fair the tip would have been better without the automatic charge. We have been to several KBBQ restaurants MOST of them had been better so do what you choose to it this information! Clean bathrooms, clean restaurants jail cell windows

Yelp
‼YOU GUYS. this is NOT a drill‼come here ASAP. we came here for a bday celebration and had so much fun. All the food was DELISH and at a pretty good price, 35$ per person all you can eat. There is a 50$ per person menu as well but we didnt go for that one. The meat was all fantastic, seasoned to perfection and came out amazing off the grill. Our favorites were the bulgogi beef, shrimp, and garlic pork belly (all pictured below). I will say the beef bites for me were tricky. Some bites that we got nice and charred were AMAZING. Something truly special; others were a little chewy. Just be mindful of that if you have difficulty with that sort of thing. Everything else was ridiculously tender and the shrimp had a lovely char flavor. We got the roasted garlic and asked for some butter to pour over the shrimp too, chefs kiss! The sauces (sweet and sour and a peanut/miso type sauce) were amazing, as were the sides. Kimchi, cucumber kimchi, pickled radish, I could go ON. the pickled veggies were so fresh and tangy. Dont get me started on the DUMPLINGS. So good. The brisket miso soup???? are you joking??? 10/10. Literally felt that one in my SOUL. something healed me at iron dish yall. Also... vibes were good, decorations were awesome (recycled cans on the walls and light fixtures). service was efficient. Do yourself a favor and head on over.

Yelp
I loved this placed because I was able to cook my own food. It's all you can eat so you will definitely leave full. The food was good I just wish they gave us some seasoning to use for our meats. Other than that, this place is great for a date night!
google avatar

Yelp
I took my husband here for his birthday on 3/13. We started at a different Korean place down the street but they were so rude so we left. I found Iron Dish and we decided we would try it since it's a similar concept. I'm so glad that we left the other. Christine was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing! I was nervous to try Korean bbq but now I love it Christine made it so fun and so enjoyable. She taught me so much! If you like duck they have some of the best!

Yelp
This is our go-to KBBQ spot, and it never disappoints. We always order the galbi, steamed egg, bulgogi, pork belly, and spicy chicken. Love their cocktails and all their sides too. You can never go wrong here.
google avatar

Helen C.

Yelp
Visit iron dish on my way home from CLT. We arrived around 5:30 on Wednesday, no line. We chose the standard all you can eat (not premium) and think that would be enough for a meal. Love the beef bulgogi, jalapeño pork belly. The rest are also good. The asking pricing makes it even better! Would recommend the store exploring digital order or allow customer to order on pad, notify waiter/waitress to check the table. Limit to 3 meat dishes per round, and seeing waiter and waitress are super busy, there can be some wait time in between rounds.

Yelp
Uhm. WOWWWWWW. This entire experience was amazing. Please please PUHHLLEAAAASE skip Gyu Kaku and come here instead. Yea, I said it! LOL. The service 10/10. The food 10/10. The drinks 10/10. The drinks were a little sweet for me - I'm a boozy gal. But just ask for light simple or light sweetener of whatever they use in the specialty drink and you're all set! We opted for the premium offering. You CANNOT take your meats home and that's clearly stated for you at the table so don't try it! However, you can ask for the kimchi or any other banchan to go. I asked for the kimchi and the radish wrap to go and they were a buck each - ONLY because it was so damn good. Definitely good for a date night or you can opt for bar seating as well. If I was solo, I would ask for at seating, but I would recommend that you take 4-6 ppl here. You don't want to be too overcrowded and the tables to allow for a max of six. This gem in University is worth the drive. Do it.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
This was my first Korean bbq experience and it set the bar pretty high! We did the premium option and enjoyed scallops, Wagyu beef, ribeye, spicy pork butt, spicy pork belly, bulgogi, marinated steak, and a few other options and everything was incredible. The sides were so tasty- loved the kimchi, spicy bean sprouts, soup, steamed egg, and the sauces!! Dessert was a miss but we didn't have room anyways. Service can be slow as they are busy and you can only order 3 meats at a time. You can seat 6 people per table but 4 is the right amount so you aren't bumping elbows. Highly recommend this spot and we will be coming back soon!
google avatar

Nathan L.

Yelp
This place is pretty good for AYCE (All you can eat) Korean Bbq. We do the basic AYCE and are satisfied after each meal due to the vast variety of foods. Like most Korean BBQ, you have to cook the meats yourself. They have a good rustic atmosphere which is very unique. They brought out each order in a timely manner since there's a time limit for each party. Overall a great place to eat and will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Ever since Iron dish has came out with the premium menu, I cannot stay away ...The American Wagyu, and the lamb chops have me in a choke hold!!!!! The pork belly will always be one of my favs!!!! And the meal will never be complete without the steamed egg, rice, dumplings and lettuce wraps!!! I'm dreaming of iron dish every night when I go to sleep... can't wait til 4 o clock!!!

Akmaral U.

Yelp
I've been to Iron Dish with my partner at least once a month and never had any issues, but when I came with my parents (Asian--though I'm not sure why that matters, but it seemed to at Iron Dish), everything changed. The staff treated us like a burden. We politely asked to switch to a bigger table because we had an unexpected guest, and my two-year-old brother was seated dangerously close to the gas control. Once they explained that no one could join mid-dining, we dropped the request and just asked for a larger table. Instead of accommodating us, it felt like they gave us intentional resistance at every turn. We made a simple request, and they responded by telling us to leave the table and wait 15 min (we already ordered our food). If our guest wants to join, they told us to go back to the end of the line--despite the restaurant not being busy at all. It felt ridiculous. When we asked for menus, they only handed us one for three adult people (we had two kids with us), further making us feel unwelcome. The staff was dismissive!!!, gave us attitude, and the whole experience was uncomfortable. They even dismissed our concern about my brother being near the gas switch by saying there hadn't been any accidents in six years--like every child is the same and wouldn't be tempted by a shiny switch at eye level. Maybe there's new management, but I wouldn't recommend Iron Dish to anyone who expects decent customer service or basic respect. Honestly, it wasn't even serious, but the way they couldn't handled a simple request left a bitter taste.

Yelp
It's ok but for the price, We really wanted this to be better. :( Pros Meat comes in reasonable portions at a time Bulgogi was pretty good Thick pork belly Tteokbokki! Think they deep fry it, bit crispy on outside and yummy chewiness The AYCE comes with all the legit accompaniments; lettuce, garlic, jalapeños, bean paste, sesame/salt oil dip etc Service was good, friendly and attentive Cons Banchan (side dishes) meh at best, very vinegary kimchi, balance of the pickled veggies were all off, which is always a sign of the authenticity of Korean food to me. Steamed egg was terrible, replaced twice and still worst we've ever had Think it was pretty good if you're sticking with strictly the meats but ok a big fan of the whole KBBQ experience and for the price, it should have all been good.

Yelp
Went to this one thinking it was only a well reviewed take out - there were 3 of us so I called and was informed they had plenty of sit down area--ALOT more than plenty - it was quite large and very nice! I was pleasantly surprised that it was an all you can eat Korean BBQ --- we hadn't ate all day so it was perfect, Service was very good and attentive. Food was very good, pork belly, seafood miso and beef was fantastic and everything else was just delicious--- make sure to visit and plan to stay awhile -- there is a 2 hour time limit but food comes out fast so you be done in 1 hour----if you are a fan of Korean BBQ-- make sure to make a visit - you'll love it

Yelp
We love the Iron Dish! The ambience is open and friendly and the food is terrific! Well worth the hour and a half for us to drive there! It fills up really fast so you have to get there early. Our favorite is the beef bulgogi.

Yelp
I resisted going to a Korean BBQ restaurant a really long time. Mostly the idea of cooking at the table did not appeal to me. Boy, color me embarrassed for resisting. It is just a reminder, don't make up your mind before you try something. Iron Dish has a lively environment, it is great for delicious cocktails and soju. It is perfect for families, parties or just to grab dinner. The all you can eat for one price is an amazing deal. The food is delicious, they have a menu of side dishes to order too. Don't overlook all the goodness. My favorites were the spicy rice cakes, cucumbers, kimchi and the pickled radishes. Be sure to ask for lettuce wraps too. The service is friendly and they are happy to assist if you are a first timer. If you have kids, this is a great place to take kids. Especially if they enjoy cooking or you want to introduce them to cooking. This was an exceptional fun evening.

Yelp
So sad (but at the same time happy) I only JUST discovered Iron Dish Korean BBQ! As someone who has had great KBBQ in LA Korea Town, SF Korea Town, NYC, etc., this place has very comparable quality. It is the BEST KBBQ I've had in NC to date and I will definitely come back with friends next time. There is plenty of parking lot in the plaza and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful and pretty typical of KBBQ. Tons of booths with grills and their beautiful bar in the center. Customer service was great and attentive, we never had to flag down anyone for meat orders, ban chan refill, water/drinks, or grill change ever. We came right when they opened at 4pm and it started to get crowded around 5pm-6pm. There is a 2 hour dining limit which wasn't an issue for us. We got their $50 premium AYCE menu but there is a ~$30 regular menu. The ban chan was delicious and was of great quality, my favorite was the pickled daikon and pickled cucumbers. I appreciate that their drink menu (~$12 per drink) is also Asian/K-pop inspired, my favorite was the Blackpink cocktail which was the perfect blend of sweet, fruity, with yakult. It was best drink to cleanse and reset my palate through the umami and fatty meats. They also had non-fruity/sweet drinks that also paired perfectly with KBBQ. Overall, the quality of all of the meats we tried were amazing. I am a fan of marinated meats so the flavored pork belly (curry, jalapeño, and garlic were DELICIOUS) and LA Kalbi (limit 2 per table) were my favorite. The non-marinated meats were also so good, the thin pork belly was a staple for me. I could go on and on about the great variety and quality of the menu, you just gotta go in a try! There were also some seafood options that my partner tried and enjoyed.

Yelp
Meat quality is good but sides could but a little more composed. Recommend; All iterations of galbi Pork belly Short rib Radish wrap Brisket miso Steamed egg w/ cheese Kimchi cucumber Galbi is a staple offering at all Korean ayce spots. My favorite was the boneless. Nice tender cut with that familiar flavor. Whether you enjoy med rare or carmelized, you can't go wrong. Pork belly must be allowed to carmelize. Can't waste that fat layer, that's a regrettable offense. Short rib, nuff said. Pass; Curry steak Cajun garlic shrimp Thin wagyu Pickled vegetables Curry steak was too thick to be cooked whole. You'll need to cut into strips but that not may save the basting. I couldn't taste any curry. Shrimp was extremely salty. One bite gave me a short headache. Wagyu was sliced and served frozen. This one needed a marinade. Didn't stand alone well, tasted like a cheesesteak minus the cheese. Pickled vegetables were unrecognizable. Just looked and tasted like onions. A pop of color and diversity would set this dish off. It's time...

Yelp
The food was ok we ordered off of the basic menu -pork belly, beef, shrimp. My son really enjoyed the concept of Korean bbq. The issue came when my server charged my 10 yr old son as an adult and then lost my card. She then insisted that I didn't give her my card and got an attitude. Eventually the manager came out after checking the camera he says he will call me if they find my card. He calls 10 minutes later says he has my card with no explanation..

Yelp
They have a good selection of marinated and non-marinated meats. They didn't give out as much side dishes from the beginning like other Korean bbq places we've been to but I'm not sure if it's due to any food shortages/costs of that's just how they do it. Instead, you have to order additional sides when you order the meats. The staff is nice and attentive. They change the grill grates often, which is nice. My one critique is that I wish they had more seafood options. Another great thing is that they now have the option for you to pay by phone once you get the check. No more having to give your card and wait for them to return.

Yelp
One of the better KBBQ spots I've been to. First and foremost, it's AYCE!! The selections were most of your usuals but also some cuts that normal BBQ places don't have. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was about a 30 min wait. Well worth it though...once you are in, you are promptly seated and explained the know-all's by your waiter. The banchan you choose yourself, so nothing comes out automatically, which is fine since not everything I eat anyways. The cuts of meat go from the regular to prime and the bulgogi was full of flavor. The meats were real good and nothing was funky. The pork belly are huge strips that come out. Very good food and a good experience if you haven't had KBBQ before. Highly recommend (but go early/non normal hours)

Yelp
I was so excited to try Korean BBQ! I've been in this shopping center several times but never got a chance to dine here. Last night we were invited to preview their menu. The restaurant serves all you can eat marinated & non-marinated meat options as well as premium meat and seafood. You prepared the meat on an open grill in the center of the seated booth. The meat is paired with fresh salads, jalapeño peppers, garlic, 3 dipping sauces and sides. The cheesy corn was my favorite of the night. The spicy shrimp, beef tenderloin we're definitely favorites as well. I really loved the fried dumplings which were cooked perfectly. The staff was genuinely friendly and generous with the portions and selections. Our server met our every need and more! She greeted us with a smile and was so warm and inviting. Now let's talk about the decor.. the bar area has a double sided glass pane which is aesthetically beautiful. The walls are all different from murals, artwork and ceramic tiles. Every angle of the restaurant is stunning. Hopefully when you get the opportunity to visit you have the same experience as we did!

Yelp
Took a trip to Charlotte and wanted to try something unique. This place seemed neat. The Pros: A lot of the food is really tasty. You get to grill your own food which is fun. There are lots of meats and other sides, sauces etc that you can mix and match for different unique flavor options. The atmosphere is lovely and the music was relaxing. The staff was very friendly and informative when explaining how their menu worked. It's all you can eat!!! Some Cons: The menu can seem a little overwhelming for some. There are a lot of options and no way you can try everything in one trip. Although it is all you can eat, there is a 2 hour time limit so you'll want to make sure you are constantly cooking your meats. I went with my wife and a friend and for the 3 of us, it took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes from being seated to leaving. Overall: I had a very positive experience and would definitely go back again. I do think this place is not for everyone.

Yelp
My husband and I are always eating kbbq in Atlanta, so we were pretty excited to try one closer to home. The prices are decent, especially compared to the higher prices in ATL now. We love how many side dishes are included - our favorites are the spicy rice cakes, steamed egg, green salad (great dressing), and corn cheese. I'm more of a brisket only person, so it's helpful that we can do half orders for the thin pork belly for my husband. The meat is surprisingly great quality. Each time we've been, the service has been quick and kind. Sometimes there's a wait, but it tends to be more quick than the initial estimate. Overall, we're both impressed with Iron Dish and will gladly return.

Yelp
Very good service, covid guidelines, great ambience, awesome decor of crushed cans, very clean bathroom, friendly staff. All you can eat of net choices, side dishes and appetizers. Truly enjoyed the atmosphere. It was our first time at Iron Dish and we will be back again!

Yelp
For my B-Day feast with my 2 boys, I made a reservation in advance, and when we arrived, we were immediately escorted to our table (big, comfy booth!). As expected, they had all the Covid safety precautions in place, like mask wearing, and seemingly they were seating every other table/booth. The place itself is very spacious, modern and cool, with several artsy wall decors...and the booth was super-comfy! They also cranked up the K-Pop music...playing all the popular hits from big groups, like BTS and Black Pink. Yep...definitely can get into this vibe! ;P We went for the "All-You-Can Eat", which is $29 per person...but this includes multiple pickings of all types of meats, it also includes an array of sides on the menu, as well as many complimentary sides. Think once you finish a meal here, you'll soon realize that it's WELL worth $29! Their menu provided both marinated and non-marinated meats...and all I can say is Y-U-M!!! As usual with K-BBQ meals, it's difficult getting good foodie pictures because of the varied pace of cooking the meats... followed by frenzied, savage eating! When you see piping hot, freshly cooked, marinated meats in front of you, it truly brings out the beast in you lol. With my 2 BIG Carnivore Males in front of me, it's quite tough trying to get a bite in...they eat so much, and so fast!! Still, given how I failed miserably capturing decent pictures from my last K-BBQ outing, I was determined to do a better job this time. Think I succeeded. Also must mention that their sides were SO good!! Loved it all...the Korean Soup, Creamed Corn, Spicy Rice Cakes, Steamed Eggs, Fried Dumplings, Kimchi, etc.etc. This alone would have been worth $29 for me! I will say, however, that their complimentary sides could have been better. Still, the sides off the menu made up for that. We all had an AMAZING time here...and again, we three are now big fans of K-BBQ. From talking to our waitress, who was very good and on her game by the way...this restaurant is a one-off, but it will be opening a second location in Pineville (closer to me...YaY!) by September of this year! Honestly, I prefer this over "Let's Meat" ANY day. Much better in food, in ambiance, and service! In fact, gotta say that immediately, Iron Dish earned a top spot for me, right up on my list of fave local Korean restaurants, MOA and Bulgogi Box. Will most definitely return!

Yelp
I came here to check out the KBBQ scene in Charlotte, since it's been on the up and up. I think it's a market that will start breaking in soon, if it hasn't already. Plus, I've been spoiled living near where all these amazing KBBQ spots are so it was nice to try and check somewhere new. So, during the COVID times, we want to make sure our bases are covered. Basically, if you're walking around the restaurant you have to have your mask on. Once you're seated in a booth, and you're eating, of course your mask can not be on. The waiters and waitresses all had masks on. Hand sanitizer was offered at the front desk where you walk if you decide to get some or not. Other than that, that gets that subject out of the way. So, let's get onto what I wanted to check off: Meat options, Price, and Is there a time limit? *Note that the last one is specifically there to answer about KBBQ spots in Charlotte that state that they have a time limit which I feel like actually takes away from the experience of AYCE. Price: Reasonably priced. $29/person is not bad. I've seen more, I've seen less. Time Limit: Nope. Thank you for not putting that into place! Meat Options: Great amount of selections. From marinated to non-marinated meats including banchan. One thing that they did lack though was specialty banchan such as rice paper to wrap the meat in. Now, speaking of banchan... I found it a bit questionable when I had their cheese and corn. It was on the sweet side, and I can only assume that they added a little sprinkle of sugar to the corn. Why? I have no idea. But, if you're not into that I would recommend not to order that. The soup was great though! Meat standouts to me was definitely the marinated short ribs. That was what made it for me. It was delicious, tender, juicy...ugh, yeah it makes me hungry. And considering it's AYCE, it's well worth the price. I would recommend to start off with the brisket, as it's the fastest to cook and then order whatever other dishes. Meat takes time to cook, so I would say if you're there to eat a lot, order 2-3 meats in between and back off when you're starting to feel full. They charge extra for waste!! Service: Eh. I mean it's hit or miss, especially during COVID-19 times. It's sort of okay, I wouldn't say it's the best though. Overall, I would definitely recommend Iron Dish. Their vent system is great. The meat selection is good along with the price. It was nice to find a spot that was actually right next to the place where I drank during my University days. I'll be keeping my eye out for new great places in Charlotte to try out!

Yelp
Consistent and delicious. Every time I'm in town iron Dish is my go to for dinner. 100% recommend the beef tongue and brisket. The sesame oil with salt is fire.
