The 22 Best Sandwich Places In Chicago

"This Puerto Rican spot has some of Chicago's best jibaritos. Their crispy plantain sandwiches come with all sorts of fillings like tender steak with grilled onions, blood sausage, or juicy roast pork. Plus, at around $10 each, they're affordable. But what completes each sandwich is their potent garlic spread that adds flavor, and also ensures that no one will want to ride the elevator with you. They have three locations: Dunning, Logan Square, and Lincoln Park which has a full bar and is more of a sit-down restaurant." - sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor

The Best Restaurants In Lincoln Park

"This Puerto Rican restaurant has some of the city’s best jibaritos. Their crispy plantain sandwiches come with an assortment of fillings like thin steak with grilled onions, blood sausage, or juicy roast pork. Plus, they’re affordable, hovering around $10. But what completes each sandwich is they're topped with a potent layer of their garlic spread—it not only adds zestiness, but also keeps people from invading our personal space. They have two other locations in Dunning and Logan Square, but this one has a full bar and is more of a sit-down spot." - sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru

Jibaritos y Mas plans on opening a Lincoln Park restaurant with a bar - Eater Chicago

"Jibaritos y Más is planning to open a new location in Lincoln Park. The restaurant is known for its Puerto Rican-inspired jibarito sandwich, which uses smashed and fried young plantain pieces in place of bread. The new location will feature a bar, contrasting with the BYOB policy at the other locations. The menu will also include empanadas, in addition to the traditional garlicky jibarito with shredded beef or thin-cut steak, mayo, tomatoes, and lettuce, as well as chicken, pork, and octopus variants." - Elias Cepeda

A Critic Tackles Two Omakase Sushi Restaurants - Eater Chicago

"Mike Sula checks in on growing sandwich empire Jibaritos y Mas. Venezuelan native Yelitza Rivera has mastered the Puerto Rican specialty and will soon open a fourth location of her popular shop in Lincoln Park. The jibaritos — filled with roast pork, chicken, octopus, blood sausage, and more — are best experienced by attacking them with two hands while they’re still piping hot. The cuchifrito game is also 'extraordinary,' featuring items like 'shatteringly crispy' pollo frito and mofongo, garlicky mashed plantain that reveals its 'true textural dimensions when eaten on the spot.'" - Jeffy Mai

Not sure what authentic Puerto Rican food taste like but it was pretty good. I liked the stuffed banana appetizer and the sweet corn appetizer. The rice was really good too. I’ve had better pork cooked in Cuban style. The price was very affordable.

I have been to this place twice already (2 consecutive days to be exact) and it is amazing! The service is great and the food is to die for. I also had the Passion fruit, Dragon fruit, and Guava Margarita and they were delicious. I definitely plan on visiting this restaurant again in the future.

Second time coming here and not disappointed! Food is great (got a bit more expensive than last time). Got some good coffee and the Best Benedict Flight on Earth Trio (3 different proteins: salmon, ham and pork). Staff is helpful, know their menu. Ambience can be a bit brighter. Still a 5 star!

Nice brunch spot with tons of fun options! I ordered a Strawberry Mimosa, Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes, and the Fajitas Style Omelet. Everything was delicious! The only reason I’m giving it four stars is because pancakes were a little dry. Otherwise, I enjoyed my visit here.

We have now dined here for brunch at least 4 times this year and we LOVE it. The Jibarito skillet and the Creme Brûlée French toast is literally our go-to order, although our family members have ordered other items and loved them! The food is fresh and the service is friendly and quick! And the prices are super reasonable! A must-try!

Easy location, friendly staff, quick service... great little restaurant! Ordered a bit of everything and it was all delicious. The pizza empanada was interesting, and the jibarito cubano was amazing. Definitely worth visiting

Good place to eat and the food was satisfying. Would recommend to order the octopus with fried tostones. Delicious!!! Only improvement would be the service. People seemed busy and I'd wished they would have given us some recommendation regarding which is their crowd favorite or best succulent meals.
