Austin’s New Restaurant & Bar Openings - Austin - The Infatuation

"There are four dining areas in Jupiter, each with a pretty distinct theme. Wherever you sit, you’ll be experiencing what they describe as “maximalist plant-based luxury.” The menu is fully vegan and quite expensive—but there’s also a very cute jazz room in the back that you can reserve on Friday and Saturday nights." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

Jupiter Supper Club is a pretentious way to blow a lot of money - Review - Austin - The Infatuation

"If you’ve ever wondered what a $50 pizza looks like, scroll to the bottom of this review and prepare to be disappointed. Then keep that emotion bottled up, because it’ll steel you for the rest of your time at Jupiter Supper Club. The Downtown restaurant describes itself as “maximalist plant-based luxury,” which is another way to say that you’re about to pay a lot for vegetables. photo credit: Johnnie Losoya photo credit: Johnnie Losoya This place is less about what’s on the plate and more about what’s going on around you and who’s there doing it. The dimly lit space is divided into four dining areas, each with its own carefully curated vibe—one leans old Hollywood, another feels like a futuristic greenhouse, and somewhere in between, there’s a room that looks like the lobby of a hotel you can’t afford. Meanwhile, the waitstaff’s glances can feel just condescending enough to make you question whether your zipper has been down the whole time. This is the type of restaurant that wants to be mentioned in the same sentence as the Carbones of the world, with an air of exclusivity that warrants “eat clean and be seen” slogans printed across the menu. The food itself isn’t bad. Some of it’s actually pretty good. But no matter how well it’s prepared, there’s no circumstance where a single hen of the woods mushroom should cost more than a filet, or where an 8” pizza—topped with shaved black truffles that get lost in the shiitake cream and garlic sauce—should cost half a Benjamin. The best way to experience Jupiter? Book a seat in the private jazz room in the back. It’s intimate enough to feel like you’re getting something—anything—from the $30 cover charge. Skip the overpriced mushrooms and turnips, grab a cocktail, and pay for the live music instead. Better yet, head to Fabrik in East Austin for a truly great vegan fine-dining meal. Food Rundown photo credit: Johnnie Losoya Cocktails We wouldn’t visit for the cocktails alone, but they’re all solid and pair nicely with the food. photo credit: Johnnie Losoya Fried Giant Cauliflower This is less of a “giant” cauliflower and more like 10 fried florets on a plate. The creamy cashew ranch they’re served with is nice, though. photo credit: Johnnie Losoya Sunflower Sprout Salad We’re not sure if the sunflower sprouts are in the room with us, but they’re nowhere to be found on this plate. Kudos to the turmeric vinaigrette for being tasty. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Grilled Carrots There probably shouldn’t be an “s” at the end of the dish, because we’re pretty sure this is a single carrot cut into bite-sized pieces. Despite that, they’re pretty tasty—they’re slow-roasted and have a good char around the edges. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Black Truffle Pizza If you’re hoping for a traditional pizza replacement, look elsewhere. We prefer the vegan substitutes at the much more casual Possum Pizza. Paying $50 at Jupiter feels like turning over a “go directly to jail” card hidden on the menu. This pizza comes with shaved black truffles, but even a truffle-free version will set you back over $30. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Hen Of The Woods Mushroom This mushroom is cooked well, and the tart green-apple pearls add a nice contrast to the more savory “meat” of it all. But it’s not worth the nearly $40 we paid." - Nicolai McCrary

Austin Virtual Tasting Menu Restaurant Foxtail Supper Club Opens This Week - Eater Austin

Diners receive shipments of mostly prepared food, join an organized Zoom meeting with the chef and other guests, and finish cooking the rest of the meal together. The restaurant offers two evening services each week with 11 'seats' each, where diners place orders through Assembly Kitchen. The meals, sourced from Austin and the Hill Country, are $150 each and meant for two people, including a five-course dinner with wagyu carpaccio, barbecue pork, and more. Absolutely blown away by Jupiter Supper Club. A friend and I had dinner and drinks there on a Saturday night, and from start to finish, it was an unforgettable experience. The cocktails were expertly crafted, the food was exceptional, and the live jazz added an irresistible energy to the evening. Each room is beautifully decorated, creating a stylish yet welcoming atmosphere that made the whole night feel special. This was easily one of the most enjoyable meals and dining experiences I’ve ever had—and I can’t wait to go back.

What a gem of a place! The ambiance is 10/10. There are 4 different rooms with completely different vibes and music. The food is all vegan. The drinks differ depending on what floor you’re on. Would highly recommend starting with drinks at one of the bars and transitioning to one of the other rooms for dinner. All of the food we tried was delicious and the zero proof cocktails were amazing.

First off, let me say the vibe was incredible, and the food tasted like it was made by god themself. The food was done so uniquely it was worth it. We paid for the live music experience. The room was intimate and small, and the performance was soft female vocals and a pianist. There were multiple couples coziest up enjoying the show, talking, having a great time. But there was one group that had 0 social awareness or volume control. They were talking loudly, and laughing in unison so loud that it echoed around the room and we could no longer focus on the music or how delicious the food was. We waited half an hour expecting staff to step in and relocate them or ask them if they could quiet just a bit and no one said anything. The other couples appeared disturbed too. Eventually we asked the group to keep it down, and they did, which helped us enjoy the rest of the experience. But It was awkward having to say something and partially ruined our experience. Wish the etiquette was more clear.

Jupiter Supper Club is a hidden gem that truly blew me away! This high-end vegan spot feels like a cozy, intimate "hole in the wall," but the flavors and experience are anything but small. I first visited on New Year’s Eve, and it was magical. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a celebratory night. I went back a few days ago, and it was just as spectacular. The menu is innovative and packed with bold, unforgettable flavors—it’s clear they put a lot of thought into every dish. What really stood out, though, was the service. The manager, Yadian, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even more special. Whether you’re vegan or not, Jupiter Supper Club is a must-visit. I can’t wait to come back again soon!

The food was beyond excellent. I had the zero proof baklava to drink which I loved. We had the beet crisps for an appetizer which were fantastic but the one with squash was brilliant. I forgot the name of it but I would have ordered it again if I wasn't so stuffed after the entrees came. The hen of the woods was so creative and exciting. We also got the oyster mushroom pizza, also delicious. For dessert, we chose chocolate over fruity and it was so decadent and wonderful. The service was excellent, he gave us a tour at the end and the entire place is so magical. I can highly recommend Jupiter Supper Club to anyone.

Google
Jupiter is an absolute must-visit! The interior design is flawless and stunning, a true feast for the eyes of any design aficionado. The experiential value is top-notch, especially with the live music creating a vibrant atmosphere. Their nonalcoholic mocktail selection is not bad. Highly recommend for a memorable night out.

Yelp
We had an amazing dining experience from start to finish. For appetizers, I ordered the glazed carrots--absolutely delicious. The sauce had a subtle curry undertone that added depth without being too heavy. Between the carrots and the potatoes, the carrots were definitely my favorite. The potatoes were topped with a spicy mayo-style sauce that was also really tasty, though the potatoes themselves were slightly over-fried. Still, the flavor was solid, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them--just not over the carrots, which were the standout. For my entrée, I had the creamy vegan pasta. It was rich, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You'd never guess it was vegan--it was that good. The portion was generous, and honestly, I could've shared it after the appetizers. My guest ordered the spring risotto. It was light, earthy, and perfectly captured the essence of an Italian spring dish. While I personally preferred the pasta, the risotto is a great option if you want something fresh and subtle. We didn't make it to dessert, but the options looked incredible and full-sized--not just tiny bites. I had two cocktails: an espresso martini and a vesper. Both were executed perfectly. Service was exceptional. I had requested flowers for the table, and the team delivered beautifully--it was a lovely touch. The ambiance was incredible too--each room has its own unique vibe. After dinner, we took a cocktail upstairs to their bar, which had a cozy, velvet-draped speakeasy feel. Overall, everything was on point--food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. I loved the location, and I can't wait to go back. They're doing something really special here.

Yelp
I came here last night with a friend for her birthday for a drink and a dessert. We were seated promptly and told about the $30 cover charge for the jazz club. We were about an hour early so we were just going to hand out until then. The hostess dropped off the menu. Took 15 minutes for the waiter to come by to take our order - so long that I almost got up and ordered at the bar, even though this same waiter came and waited upon the table next to us 2x during this time period. We finally order a dessert (hazlenut something) and a colada drink. Asked for some water. Nothing. Took another 30 minutes to get literally one drink and a dessert, which, was half melted by the time it got to me. They also didn't bring water until AFTER we got our items. The same waiter we saw attending to the table next to us and then didn't literally ask us anything. 25 minutes later, he drops off the bill, doesn't say a word. Doesn't ask us if we need anything else. Doesn't ask if we want anything else. The place was half empty, mind you. He comes back another 10 minutes later, picks up the bill, doesn't ask us again, sees there's no cards in it, makes a face. Walks away. We felt SO disrespected and rushed to leave. We weren't even at a table - we were on a couch. The dessert was honestly gross and imbalanced for $19 was insane. Based on the terrible service I'd never come back again. Truly an awful and disrespectful experience.

Yelp
Here's a polished version of your review while keeping your original tone and structure: We had a reservation and arrived on time, experiencing a brief wait for our table--just enough time to grab a drink at the bar. The ambiance was wonderful, with a very hip and chic vibe. The food was excellent--fully plant-based and absolutely delicious. While the portion-to-price ratio was a bit steep, it was well worth it. The staff was on point and another highlight of the evening. If our experience had ended there, this would have easily been a 4-star review. One thing to note: when making a reservation, you're booking a table in the main dining area, not the section where the live music is performed. This isn't clearly stated during the reservation process. My fiancée, whose birthday we were celebrating, really wanted to see some of the live music, so we asked the staff on our way out if we could check out a show. They accommodated us, which we really appreciated. However, the issue arose when we received the bill at the end of the show. At no point did anyone inform us of a $30 per person cover charge for the performance. There was no signage, no verbal mention, and no indication when we were seated in the music area. On top of that, we had already ordered another round of drinks and dessert, which nearly equaled the cost of our dinner. The lack of transparency was frustrating. A proper establishment would either include the cover charge within a minimum food/drink spend or make the cost explicitly clear upfront. Given that this is a supper club, one would reasonably expect that live music is part of the dining experience, not an extra charge sprung on guests after they've already spent several hundred dollars. The whole situation felt like a bait-and-switch, and better communication about pricing and policies would go a long way in improving the experience.

Yelp
What an amazing place to eat. Just wow! The service 5 star or above. You are warmly greeted as soon as you walk in by the staff. The bar keepers are just friendly and fabulous! So creative with their drinks. Tasty and wonderfully delightful. Wish I could have tried them all! The choices are so hard! The menu is just fabulous. Again, so many choices. PLEASE stay vegan. You cannot find a 5 star top notch exquisite establishment in hundreds of miles. We all shared our plates. From the potatoes-amazing. To the pasta-warm and delicious. The mushrooms, the texture and flavor was just perfect. Oh the ambiance. Out of this world. You feel like you are in an European heavenly restaurant. Thank you so much for all the vegan choices. So wonderful. Cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
THE BIG: Right off of Congress and across the street from Paramount theatre. Big and beautiful space inside with four rooms to your choosing. Street parking or garage parking around the corner. THE BLACK AND WHITE: Walking in, this place is a speakeasy + french connection vibes. The first floor has the main bar area, the back is the music room which a live jazz band was playing. The upstairs had a gorgeous library room which had 11 coats of blue paint on it and the back was a pale green dining area. We sat in the library and I had two glasses of wine plus some apps (pizza, patatas bravas, and naan). The prices were expensive for what you got and the flavors were alright. The patatas bravas came with 8 pieces for $16 and the pizza was $24 that as the size of my hand. Not worth it in my opinion. Service was great. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done for 3 drinks and 3 apps was around $110. Very pricey and I'd only come back for the live music and drinks.

Yelp
Gorgeous atmosphere and perfect for drinks before, after, dinner. Located on Congress, Juniper Supper Club gives a lo key, speakeasy vibe with gorgeous rooms and low lighting. The menu has light bites, all vegan. You can choose from a variety of cocktails, n/a cocktails and wines. Services is relaxed and top notch. My favorite room is the music room in the back with live Jazz!! I had the calamansi coco and it was very refreshing! The food is okay in my opinion. The potato's and naan were really salty. The pizza was great but too small for $24. Overall, I'll come back for a drink or two and the live music

Lauren L.

Yelp
Well curated atmosphere. Enjoyed the concept but not extraordinary. Think dinning space was the least tailored.

Yelp
Such a unique experience. I do see what they're trying to do here with the uniqueness and different room styles. I found the staff to be super friendly and we tried the truffle pizza and the mushrooms. Both were excellent! The mushrooms were phenomenal. The cocktails are quite sweet so I would navigate away from those and maybe stick to the wine selection if you aren't into sweet things. This is a vegan restaurant as well, which is important to be aware of. The kitchen is open late which is nice! It was quite cold when dining in so be mindful and prepared for that. Overall, I would visit again potentially. Likely not, only because the price tag on this place is extremely steep and I didn't find that anything stood out to me to lure me back in aside from maybe the mushrooms and the pretty scenery. I recommend checking it out but I would say it is likely not everyone's cup of tea!

Yelp
Got a reso for @jupitersupperclub tonight, solo. This place is all vegetarian with craft cocktails and stunning decor! Each room here is more beautiful than the next! I was given a tour and chose to sit at the bar, per usual! I have to say, the bar is gorgeous and my bartender, first-class. Unfortunately, that might be where it ends The drinks are decent, but if it says "Saffron Espresso Martini" I expect to taste some saffron...at least a hint. Nada. If it is called the "Diablo" it should have some heat, right?!? Nope. But, they were well balanced, so I will give them that. But the part that is hard to get over? No to-go containers of any sort. So, don't order more than you can consume while you are sitting there, or else, it is a waste. Speaking of the food, it is just fine. Edible, but nothing to write home about. But if I purchase a $35 pizza, I would hope I could take what I didn't eat with me...nope. So come here for the ambiance, the chill hip hop vibes, the very personable bartender. But order your martini or vodka-soda, and I wouldn't get any of the food either ...was sooo excited about an upscale vegetarian restaurant... maybe they'll get better...

Yelp
This place!!! Where to start? The decor is luxurious and exquisite. We were in the blue room which is very beautiful. Toured the restaurant afterward and will be going back to both the library room and the music room! The food was amazing! We started with the fried purple cauliflower, which was bursting with flavor. The hummus was some of the best we've ever had, with a spicy green chutney on top to give it some zest. The naan was warm and nicely crispy yet soft. The carrots- oh my god! I mean it's carrots- how good can it be? But I was wrong in thinking this. The were ancho chile glazed and the best carrots I've ever had. I had no idea carrots could taste that great! For dessert we had the dark chocolate panna cotta with hazelnuts and banana icecream. Absolutely divine! The service was great too! Very friendly and knowledgeable and offered a tour of the restaurant afterward. We loved this place so much that we are going back tonight!

Yelp
One of the best vegan experiences I've had in Austin! I'm vegan and my boyfriend isn't, and we both loved our experience at Jupiter! Service was great, everyone was super friendly. We came early and got a tour of the restaurant. The different rooms all had their own vibe which I really liked! We got the pesto pasta, the pizza, and the Panna Cotta (which I forgot to take a picture of because it was devoured immediately omg) everything we got tasted amazing! The pizza was small but one of the best vegan pizzas I've had from a restaurant! I really like the vibe of the place! We went during soft opening so I'm sure that things will change- I just hope they stay vegan or at least keep a vegan menu! I also think they could open for daytime hours- maybe a coffee shop vibe?

Yelp
My partner and I visited Jupiter Supper Club on Saturday evening -- January 12th, for the first time, excited to experience the Jazz room. Upon entering, the hostess at the stand (a woman with darker hair) greeted us with a stare rather than warmth. I explained it was our first time and asked how the process worked, as I'd heard there were multiple rooms. Her explanation was vague and interrupted by her answering the phone, leaving us feeling dismissed. Thankfully, another hostess with blonde hair warmly escorted us to the cocktail room upstairs, which was stunning with its cobalt blue walls and beautiful ambiance. Once seated, the bartender/host with a very unique voice greeted us, provided drink service, and explained some basics about the space. About 30 minutes later, while observing the scene and overhearing conversations, we learned from another couple speaking with the bartender that there was a 1-1.5 hour wait for the jazz room and that they'd need to be waitlisted. I then called him over and asked to be added, but he didn't mention any cover charge at the time. I later overheard him inform a Black couple next to us that it was $30 per person per set (3 sets a night), which didn't include anything else. The couple understandably asked for a manager, as they seemed caught off guard. Feeling uneasy, I asked the bartender to confirm, and he gave us the same information. What struck me was that multiple white couples who came in weren't informed of any cover charge upfront. To confirm my suspicions, I even reached out to a TikTok influencer who had visited, and they told me they were never charged a cover fee either. The inconsistent policies and the lack of transparency, especially regarding race, were deeply disappointing. For a venue that claims to be inviting and inclusive, this experience said otherwise. While the aesthetics and concept are beautiful, the execution fell far short. We will not be returning.

Yelp
Everything was amazing unfortunately we were there the only day there was no live music which is Tuesday, but the food made up for it, the ambience was amazing, every dish was an experience , Bailey's service was simply the best, she was friendly explained everything, there's different rooms and areas but all with a very cool design, it's all plant based and I dare to say one of the best vegan restaurants I've ever tried! Can't wait to go back even the mocktails were spectacular

Yelp
First off, Jupiter Supper Club is absolutely gorgeous. The interior design is so thoughtfully done and every section is a little different. I recommend a walkthrough of the whole place, before or after your meal. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but the presentation and flavor of the dishes make it worth it. You HAVE to order the bread and olive oil! Our server was knowledgeable and attentive; granted it was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was pretty slow. Anyway, I feel like having a nice vegan restaurant in downtown Austin is a great addition to the community and I had a good experience here. Be aware, there is a $30/person cover for the jazz shows, so don't be caught off guard. Great date night spot, if you've got the budget for it!

Yelp
Truly had such a disappointing experience here which was so sad because I love supporting plant-based focused businesses and was SO excited to try this one out. The reviews also seemed promising so two of my friends and I decided to check out Jupiter Supper Club this past weekend. To start off, we had scheduled a reservation in advance for 3 and they tried to seat us at a (very obviously) 2-person table. Not sure what happened there but they walked us to our table and we were thinking they would combine two tables for us but then they just walked away and we stood there wondering how we'd make this work. The confusion on our faces must have tipped them off and they came back and suggested a different table thankfully. Just don't understand why this happened in the first place. Also from what we read before visiting, others had described JSC as a "jazz speakeasy style" kind of spot. We were excited to hear live music which was advertised on their social media for 8PM but there was never any live music during our visit. Maybe there's another room for this but it wasn't clear and we couldn't hear anything so we figured it was a no-show type of situation. Which we do understand is out of the restaurant's hands - but get this, around that 8pm time they completely cut off the background music altogether and it just killed the ambiance. There were also several times throughout the evening where we'd hear feedback of some sort from the speakers/mic even though there was no music (live or not) playing. Another confusing part of our experience was not knowing who our server was. We had multiple different people come up to our table throughout the night. Towards the beginning, we were served water by one guy and then one of the other servers said that our original server was no longer available to serve our table and that he would be assisting us moving forward. I don't think we saw that guy again for the rest of our visit after he took our order. From there on, it was other random staff members checking in every now and then. And then our original server did come back at the end to hand us the bill. It just felt very disorganized and unprofessional. The prices for both the food and drinks were through the roof. I'm all for paying for elevated and high-quality menu items, but this just seemed a bit..subpar. Don't get me wrong - the food tasted good but it just felt unreasonable paying $27 for maybe 5 bites of turnips and $38 for 4 very small slices of pizza. Again I do understand that these were elevated but I've had much better elevated vegan food at a more reasonable price point. I also will say that sometimes a high price point can be justified by excellent service and the ambiance of the restaurant due to its experiential value but that wasn't the case at JSC based on our experience. Another thing I'd like to note here is that we looked at the menu other reviewers had posted just a month ago before visiting and were surprised to learn that most menu items had gone up $10 in price in just a month's time. All in all, we spent over $100 for some very light nibbles and left hungry and dissatisfied with our overall dining experience.

Yelp
The staff were super accommodating and went above and beyond with my 1 year anniversary request for my girlfriend and I! Amazing food and drinks and great vibes with the 3 different rooms they have! You gotta try it!

Lydia Z.

Yelp
Pains me to write this because I'm plant based. The three stars are all for the decor. The food is outstandingly overpriced. I don't mind paying a lot for good food, but everything tasted like it came out of a frozen box. Fabrik is cheaper and the food is Michelin quality. If you're going for the vibe, go for it. If you're going for food, run.

Yelp
Jupiter Supper Club is a cool spot. Let me just state that right off the top and get it out of the way. It's a great date night kind of place where you can combine dinner and drinks with some live music and an aperitif all in the same building but in three distinct locations. I liked it. My guess is the food is the reason the reviews aren't so great because honestly the food is not particularly inspiring. It's a vegetarian spot which isn't abundantly clear when researching it. We tried several items, from the beet Risotto to the mushroom pepperoni pizza to the fried potatoes (which are called patatas in the menu). The patatas were exceptional but everything else was simply fine. That said the service was friendly and attentive, the vibe is tremendous, and the music was delightful. One heads up - it's a $30 cover charge (per person) for the speakeasy and you may not know it until it's on your bill at the end of the night. Consider yourself warned!

Yelp
I just moved to Austin last week and after unpacking boxes and putting furniture together my daughter and I walked to the Jupiter supper club. We sat at the bar and we waited on by Paris. She was warm and inviting and very knowledgeable. The drinks were excellent. The food was wonderful. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
The atmosphere was super cool. Each room had a different vibe and it was fun to explore. The bartender was super nice!

Yelp
I was in Austin on a business trip Feb 13th and the hotel was a block from Jupiter Supper Club, so decided to try it out for dinner. The hostess took me on a tour of the four seating areas and I was surprised by the detail and imagination used to decorate and differentiate them. I sat at the bar in the blue room and received attentive service from the bar crew. Although I am far from vegan, I enjoyed the potato fondue with kale pesto and chose the JSC take on an espresso martini which was tasty as well. I was disappointed when I returned home that my weight had not changed after the vegan experience, but that might be asking too much. I will certainly be back to try another dish on my next return to Austin.

Yelp
Jupiter Supper Club is a beautiful space with delicious vegan food. I saw a couple of negative reviews of this place, but I'm vegan and had to try it for myself since there are so few high-end vegan restaurants. The food was delicious! I was with a group of 4 and we tried nearly 1 of everything on the menu -- almost everything was fantastic. I'm not usually one to care much about the ambiance of a place, but I was very impressed with the four room set up. The next time I have something to celebrate, I'll be back at Jupiter. (It is pricey, so it won't be a place that I go regularly)

Yelp
Had ladies night here and it was such a blast. The place is absolutely beautiful. Each room has a totally unique ambiance, making you feel like you've entered into a different bar with each room. The servers were on point, drinks stellar, food (vegan) tasty, and had an overall stunning vibe. Oh, and instagram-worthy bathrooms. ;) We will definitely be back!

Yelp
The portions are ridiculously small for how expensive it is. Very nice vibe and ambience but if you're going to charge that much we gotta be full by the end of it

Yelp
AWESOME experience did a walk in with 4 of my girl friends on a Wednesday , had multiple allergies they accommodated for all dishes, got to listen to some jazz. Everyone working was welcoming and food was amazing even though it was vegan

Yelp
The best cocktail bar in Austin by far. If you're considering going, go! The carrots are to die for. The cocktail menu is exquisite. The staff were incredibly accommodating, made us multiple drinks off the menu. Grace and the bartender supporting her were attentive and even told us the amazing story behind the founding. Will be back as soon! The photos on the website while wonderful don't do the ambiance the justice it deserves. Many places try to do maximalism this place perfected it.

Yelp
This is a very unique and sexy restaurant! The manager Yadi is very hospitable and the drinks are amazing hands down to the bartenders.

Yelp
The manager on February 22, 2025 needs anger management, emotional intelligence, or dealing with the public courses. He caused me embarrassment with my guests when all I wanted was an explanation of the three sets of three bills I was handed for a total of $356.01 for 5 people. I mention here that I am 74 years old, white haired, 5 feet tall and 120 pounds. Our party of five was too large and so some of us were moved to the jazz room. Not understanding the club layout and rules, when I I was handed 3 sets of checks to sign, I wanted to compare them. I was comparing them when the manager raised his voice to me, ripped the papers out of my hands, crumpled one set up and threw them on the floor! I reached as he did also and I managed to salvage one piece. One of my guests payed all the bills, my partner also payed a set of the bills presented to him, and the manager called security! All I wanted was an explanation of the charges. My partner left the room and spoke to someone else who explained that the drinks were on one bill, a $30 per person cover charge is for the jazz room (which we did not ask for) on another bill, and another $30 per person is charged if you stay for the second set, which is a third bill. All I wanted was the explanation which my partner obtained. The gentleman on security that night was the consummate professional. He shook my hand as we all left. I'm sure the other customers that night enjoyed the sight of tiny me being escorted out by a 6 foot + gentleman. It is not worth the humiliation I experienced as an older person with poor eyesight to attend that club again.
