The Best Indian Restaurants In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This busy Redmond restaurant serves some of the best North Indian food our area has to offer. The place has two huge dining rooms with dark wood and colorful string lights, sizzling skillets of tandoori chicken whizzing by, and a menu longer than War and Peace. We especially like the gobi manchurian that stays sturdy under the weight of a sticky and tangy glaze, plus smoky angara butter chicken and a bhindi masala that tastes as comforting as it looks. Come here for a birthday dinner with a big group, or get dishes to go—Kanishka’s so popular they have an entire separate space next door dedicated to take-out." - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo, gabe guarente

The dinner was a fantastic experience, with flavors that truly stood out. The spice levels were just right, adding a perfect kick to every bite. The mango lassi was magnificent—refreshing, creamy, and bursting with flavor. And the butter chicken? Absolutely out of this world, rich, tender, and perfectly balanced in its spices. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who made the evening even more enjoyable. However, the experience wasn’t flawless. The furniture was uncomfortable, making it hard to fully relax, and unfortunately, the dessert was a huge letdown—bland and uninspired, a disappointing end to an otherwise incredible meal. Would I come back? Absolutely, but I’d skip the dessert!

This place is hands down one of the best Indian spots in the area! Great value for money with generous portions and top-notch quality. We tried the dal makhani and rice—both were absolutely delicious. The menu is vast with plenty of options to choose from, catering to every palate. The service is excellent, the place is usually full and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. If you’re craving Indian food, this spot is a must-try. You can even customize the spice level to suit your taste—highly recommended!

Really great Indian food, we enjoyed everything we ate! We got a chicken dish and a paneer dish, Naan and roti. Service was great and we loved it all. we will definitely be coming back. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean. There's parking in front of the restaurant but it's limited.

Kanishka’s menu is packed with traditional Indian recipes! With a vast array of options, vegetarians, and non vegetarians alike will find plenty of love. The service can be a bit rushed. Be prepared for attentive and speedy service. The maximum waiting is 30 minutes! Convenient location. Don’t hesitate if you’re in the Redmond area !

A bunch of friends and I were craving Indian cuisine so we came here. We ordered lamb samosas, cauliflower, vanilli beef and goat, cheese and plain rotis, fish saag, paneer biryani. The appetizers were good, our favorite was easily the cauliflower, great sauce and doesn't taste like vegetables at all. The samosa was ok, was lacking a little bit in the spices and flavor but not bad. Our main dishes were all very good. Our favorite was probably the paneer bryiyani. Really good flavor and the paneer was fresh. The fish saag I also recommend, goes really well with the roti, almost like fish in chutney sauce. Probably our least favorite item was the vindaloo. They had large pieces of bone on the meat so it made it hard to eat and I wasn't big on the sauce. What kind of dragged it down is it was not spicy hot like we wanted, maybe because we're white LOL, but we like it spicy hot and the level 4 was unnoticeable. Overall a great place to get Indian food in the Seattle area, probably come back again when we crave it. I still think Vancouver BC has the best but this is a close second.

We had such a wonderful dining experience here! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was bursting with flavor — and the ambience was warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxing evening. But what really made our visit unforgettable was the outstanding service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect for us. Most of all, I have to give a special mention to Sunny, the host. He went above and beyond to make our 6-year-old daughter feel so special — even taking the time to admire and praise her artwork. She left the restaurant beaming with pride, and that moment alone made the night truly memorable. We’ll definitely be coming back, not just for the amazing food, but for the genuinely kind and thoughtful people who work here. Thank you, Sunny, for making our evening extra special!

I went there for lunch and ordered the buffet. The server asked me to select five curries and I loved the taste and the service. The guy named Sonu was very nice and warmly welcoming, with top-notch customer service. The people there are so friendly. The food was a bit heavy four naans were too much for one person to finish. As a South Indian, I think they could have given more rice and maybe two naans instead. Overall, I just loved the place!!

Yelp
We had out of town guests who requested Indian food. Our friend recommended this place at Redmond. It was in a strip mall. Quite decent darker atmosphere inside the restaurant despite being in the strip mall. We ordered a variety of dishes. Portion size was decent. Coconut lamb, Butter chicken, biryani (quite spicy), Fish tandoori? So good but smaller portion size. We also ordered mango lassie, chai and Chardonnay. All pretty good. Service was quiet. Waiter was knowledgeable and patient. Oh! Garlic naan was so good and a great portion size. Wish we took pictures.. Next time! Will be back for sure.

Yelp
We visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon around 3 PM. The restaurant was large, and the seating was spacious. I ordered the Lamb Vindaloo and asked if I could choose a spice level, but the server confirmed there wasn't an option for that. The Butter Chicken was delicious, though it was served lukewarm. As we finished most of our dishes, we realized the Lamb Vindaloo had never arrived. When we asked, another server confirmed that the order hadn't been placed. We explained that we had ordered it with the previous server, as multiple servers had been attending to our table. The new server, who re-took our order for the Lamb Vindaloo, informed us that there actually was a spice level option for the dish and confirmed he would bring another Butter Naan along with the the Lamb Vindaloo, as the one we had was already cold. However, when the bill arrived, we noticed we were charged for two Butter Naans. We had to explain the situation to 2 other different servers before the one who had promised the complimentary naan resolved the issue quickly. Overall, the food was good, but the experience of dealing with multiple servers was a bit tiring. We also requested to place a separate to-go order on a different bill, but they combined everything onto one bill. Parking can also be tricky, as the spots in the lot were small, and many had time restrictions.

Yelp
Great place to visit when you're want to try more Indian food. I ordered the lunch thali where I could choose 5 different dishes. To be honest, I wasn't familiar with everything that I chose but still had a tasty meal and got to try some dishes I normally wouldn't. The thali comes with rice, vegetables, and dessert, so it's very filling. The restaurant is pretty big and there's a parking lot outside. Service was friendly as well.

Yelp
Let's start with parking they have a shared lot and many spaces. We were seated quickly and when you have a small one that is important. We ordered a great cauliflower and a chil tandoori. Both very good. A parm garlic naan a mango chicken what more can you ask. They have a 65 ingredient chicken was very good Tea was an assortment of Sasha's

Yelp
Best Indian food in Redmond. Scents in the restaurant are strong, which might not suit everybody.

Yelp
After a friend's recommendation, I tried an Indian restaurant with a friend during their lunch special from 11 AM to 3 PM. We opted for the non-vegetarian thali, which allows you to choose 5 out of 7 available dishes. The meal also includes naan, a potato samosa, and a Gulab jamun. The butter chicken was particularly flavorful and delicious, and the jeera rice complemented the Shahi paneer and baigan masala well. The mutton curry is decent the mutton is flavorful however the least favorite of them all. The portions were quite generous, and we struggled to finish everything. I wouldn't suggest ordering anything extra. The service was good and they had ample seating. They had nice Indian music in the background. Will go again to try more dishes.

Yelp
I decided to try a new place for biryani after reading some great reviews. I ordered the Chicken 65 biryani for takeout, eager to see what all the hype was about. However, my excitement quickly faded when I saw mustard seeds in the biryani. I'm not a fan of mustard seeds in biryani, so that was my first letdown. Hoping the taste would make up for it, I took my first bite. At first, I thought I had squeezed too much lemon on it, but even without the lemon, the flavor was off. The biryani lacked the rich spices and authentic taste I was expecting. Overall, it was a total disappointment!!! Parking is available.

Yelp
Rating is based on takeout only. I have never dined in the restaurant so can't comment on ambiance, service, etc. the food on the other hand is absolutely delicious! My favorite is the paneer tikka masala which is just phenomenal. We've loved everything we have tried and it's our go to place for Indian takeout.

Yelp
Came here with 3 others and Ordered a number of dishes along with garlic naan and would rank them in this order: -aloo gobi (8/10) -tikka masala (8/10) -channa masala (6/10) -butter chicken (5/10) -tandoori (5/10) My favorite dish was the aloo gobi, they fried the cauliflower which gave it a nice texture and the was packed with flavor. The tikka masala we didn't order but they gave it to us as an extra on the side I think? My group liked it better than the butter chicken we ordered. The rest of the dishes were just okay and I feel like I've had better flavors at other Indian restaurants around the area. We ordered two baskets of garlic naan but rice came with the dishes.

Yelp
We had a friend in town last night and wanted some Indian food so I checked my friend Jay T's Indian food collection on Yelp and we decided on Kanishka Cuisine of India. Also, a couple of us had been here before so that helped in our decision. The inside is deceptively large as there are two separate dining areas separated by a bar. We had great service and the restaurant was pretty busy the entire time we were there. We shared some dishes and some garlic and Bullet Naan (Bullet Naan was too hot for me!). All the dishes were wonderful and tasty. We had the Vijayawada biryani, Paneer Tikka Masala, Dum Aloo (stuffed potatoes cooked in Kanishka's special sauce), Chicken Korma, and Fish Saag. A nice touch was the staff offering us complimentary Chai Iced Tea (I think). It was creamy and sweet and helped offset some of the spiciness of the meal. Overall, we really enjoyed this seemingly authentic Indian restaurant. A great place to try!

Yelp
Tried this place while in town for a work conference. What I ordered tasted great, but there is no way a takeout order of a small bowl of chicken curry, a small bowl of basmati rice, and two slices of garlic naan bread should ring up $26. That price is simply outrageous. I can get a nice steak at a sit down restaurant for that price. The food was good, but the value isn't there at that price.
google avatar

Emelina W.

Yelp
The food here is great. My indian friend highly recommended this place to me. I think it's the best for me. All the dishes is order to make so that it is fresh, hot and tasty. (so yes, there is a wait for the food.) The parking lot is quite busy here. The service here is great and friendly. The bread here large portion and taste great.

Yelp
Kanishka is my favorite Indian restaurant in Seattle. Admittedly I wouldn't say I'm the best critic for Indian food; I mostly stick to the classics like butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. But Kanishka has easily made me crave Indian food more than any other Indian restaurant I've been to in the past. Here's what I enjoy ordering at Kanishka: - Garlic Parmesan Kulcha: this flat bread is a little pricey, but my GF and I always order this without question because it is oh so delicious, especially when you dip it into curry. I would love to try Kanishka's special three cheese naan the next time I go to compare. - Angara Butter Chicken: part of the chef's choice, this is tandoori chicken + butter chicken curry. Who would've thought that a combination of two classic Indian dishes would taste so good together. It tasted a bit more sour than classic butter chicken the first time I tried, but the tandoori chicken in curry really is a game changer. Some other dishes my GF and I have tried: chicken 65 biryani, paneer 65 biryani, butter chicken, angara achari chicken tikka, and tandoori chicken (the chicken 65 biryani or butter chicken was probably the best of these). I've also tried a thali here before which I thought was a really good value and pretty tasty. Service can be a bit hit or miss but is generally pretty good. I would avoid ordering through their online menu; since the last time I used it, it felt like no one came to confirm or follow up on our order until we asked.

Yelp
Came for lunch on a Tuesday. I was skeptical going in given the recent terrible reviews but honestly I was knocked out of the park. Great portions and wonderful flavor. The paneer biryani ($16.99) was delicious and the portions were huge. The raita on the side was also the perfect accompaniment too. They also had lunch thalis ($19.99) that looked incredible (my friend got it). The staff was so sweet and accommodating.
google avatar

Yelp
Long time customer, The food is phenomenal. We ordered the Indian salad, fish/saag/paneer curry, and the lamb biryani. Would rank the curry by saag number one followed by paneer and fish. Indian salad was generous in portion and went well with the curry's. Personal favorite was the biryani as it would best taste like Indian fried rice. Giving 2 stars as the waiter skipped the tip button on their iPad and expected us to give cash in tips.. thankfully someone had cash but this felt very shady and was a first

Yelp
We haven't visited Kanishka in a very long time, as originally, we weren't impressed with some dishes that we love to order in Indian restaurants. We did visit with friends who made wonderful suggestions that we had never tried before and those dishes were delicious. They confirmed that the usual items we like to order are not the best here. The naan was great, but the bullet naan was very soggy. Parking is plenty, but very small stalls, so don't bring your biggest SUV if you can avoid it. Service was ok, but felt a bit rushed at times.
google avatar

Maryam A.

Yelp
This is my go-to restaurant anytime someone says they're craving Indian food. It's really popular so expect a wait or make sure to make a reservation or join their waiting list. There's so many items to try and all of that I've tasted so far have been great. I highly recommend visiting there for lunch - their specials are such a great value: Appetizer (samosas), two entrees, rice, sides, naan and a dessert for less than $20. Note: Their meats are halal. Entrees are typically served with rice. Start with one order of naan for every two persons and if you need more, then order more.

Yelp
Heard a a lot about this place and we finally made it in. This place is fairly good but it's hyped more than the food is. We ordered a variety of items including saffron gosht, chicken biryani and saag paneer with garlic naan. Taste is pretty good but nothing to rave about and there are plenty other Indian cuisines that have better taste. Chicken biryani was pretty good but the rest was just average.... Overall good but not extraordinary Service was pretty much sub standard....took us a long time to get refills of water and to get attention of our waiter to order more food
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
Have been eating here over 10 years but its really gone downhill a bit. Lunch today had limp papadums and cold mediocre samosas. Bad start. Service is OK but they've let the food slide a bit.
google avatar

Nicholas-Bjorn N.

Yelp
Food and flavors: Exceptionally flavorful and fresh! Service and speed: Slow sometimes but kind, namak means salt by the way, in case you want some. Dine-in and Decor: Cozy local favorite, big Indian families always going out here, beautiful Indian decor! Dining in experience is good, I've never ordered online or done catering but we really love the saffron chicken tikka and fresh naan. I'm sad to see people leaving these subjective negative reviews... Definitely give it a try first! I love their spices.
google avatar

Joanna M.

Yelp
There is parking in front of restaurant, it is a shared parking area with other businesses. We visited on a Monday night and it wasn't busy so no wait for a table. The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside, with 2 separate dining rooms and a full bar. The service is efficient but not overly engaging. The food is really good. We ordered the lamb samosa which had ground lamb meat. I asked for medium spice level for my chicken tikka masala and it was the perfect amount of heat. I enjoyed my meal especially dipping the garlic naan in the sauce with the rice. We have visited a few times and haven't been disappointed.

Seattle D.

Yelp
Our worst catering experience ever. I ordered lunch boxes from Kanishka for a celebration that we all were deeply invested in. Kanishka failed to deliver on all counts. They delivered food an hour late. Which resulted in many guests leaving without meal. Ordered 150 lunch boxes but got less Naan, Samosas and kheer. Very poorly packed killing presentation different from what was promised. We had to pull out 10 of our friends from the show to pack lunches and put them together. Extremely poor communication being handed from one person to another and blame passing.
google avatar

Chuck T.

Yelp
I like most Indian food, but this is my family's go to for great food. The meat is flavored perfectly and the Mango lassi is a great complement with the meal. The atmosphere is always great when I eat in the restaurant. The prices have gotten a bit inflated, but I guess that is just the times we are in.
google avatar

Khoa N.

Yelp
I recently dined at Kanishka Cuisine of India and had a mixed experience. Eager to dive into their Non-veg Thali, I selected the Aloo Baingan Masala, Sambar Idli, Angara Butter Chicken, and the Lamb Roganjosh. The Aloo Baingan Masala presented a pleasant play of flavors with its blend of potatoes and eggplant stewed in spices. However, the Sambar Idli was a bit of a letdown. The idlis were submerged in a rather watery sambar, losing that desired consistency and robustness I was hoping for. The Angara Butter Chicken was commendably creamy and flavorful, while the Lamb Roganjosh showcased tender lamb pieces harmoniously spiced. My main grievance stemmed from the unexpectedly prolonged wait time for our food. We settled in at 1:20pm, yet our dishes were only served at 2:10pm, despite the restaurant not being particularly crowded. The service pace was significantly lagging, pushing my patience to its limits. The thought of leaving crossed my mind after the 45-minute mark. The cuisine has definite promise, but the service and certain dish inconsistencies need attention. This dine-in experience was, regrettably, not up to par.

Yelp
First time we tried this place it was good so wanted to go back. We went out of our way to pick up food from here. The food tasted fine but within 15-30 min, I was not. I got sick from the food and now I am stuck going back and forth to the bathroom.
google avatar

Yelp
It has been years since I've been back to this old-time favorite. Sadly I have to report that they've declined significantly. I met up with friends and one of the gentlemen was fasting and so we had to wait a bit for him to complete his fast. The waiters attitude towards him changed significantly, Not in good way at all. I have to say that the behavior was unacceptably arrogant and dismissive. The religious discrimination was unacceptable! This waiter definitely did not understand that he is in the service industry! The food options were limited, I don't know if this was because it was a Monday night but they only had one spice level for the biryani. The other dishes were simple and as expected for a standard Indian restaurant. There are significantly better options that are half the price. They seem to cater for large corporate tables now and on numerous occasions we had to endure that same waiter shouting across a large table next to us. When I served tables, I was taught that you move your butt around a large table and repeat yourself so that service staff never had to shout at customers. The waiter shouting definitely made it so loud so that we went elsewhere to catchup and chat. To summarize, an abysmal experience and I'll never visit this restaurant again if I'm in the area again.

Adri R.

Yelp
This is 1 of the top rated Indian restaurants in the greater Seattle area. It's been over a decade since I was last here. We use to come here for try lunch buffet. When I worked down the street. A lot has changed in Redmond over the years. But I am glad to see the food at Kanishka Cuisine of India is just as good as I remembered.

Yelp
Very busy restaurant even on the week days! Beautiful decor and clean tables. Food was delicious and flavorful! We ordered saag lamb and butter chicken with garlic naan. Service is quick and a little chaotic due to servers not communicating with each other enough lol a couple that came in after us was seated before us by accident. Overall food was great, so we will be returning! :)
google avatar

Surya R.

Yelp
There are many vegetarian dishes in the menu that can potentially be made vegan but they are not willing to accommodate. I don't know if it is because everything is premade. I was told only aloo gobi can be made vegan. Saag aloo, baingain bharta, Vegetable jalfrezi, etc can also be easily made vegan imo but the server denied to

Yelp
I came in with a friend for lunch because of lots of good reviews. We were seated in the bar, our server was friendly and pretty quick. The restaurant was pretty busy at about 1 pm. We tried several dishes, the samosas were great and the chicken 65 appetizer was really good as well. We got a chicken curry and garlic naan for our main. The curry was kind of sweet and not very spicy even though we asked for 4 stars. The naan was okay but a little thick and doughy. It was decent, I would go back if in the area but wasn't anything amazing.
google avatar

Nithisha R.

Yelp
I tried this place twice. First time, the food was good and the service was good which was in 2022 and I went another time in 2023 and absolutely disappointed with the food and service. They changed a lot of things and did a bad job at it. I wouldn't visit this place again since there are many other places which serve good indian food all around the place. The service is very slow. Ambiance is pretty good like any sit down dining restaurant. Would definitely skip it if I were you and would either go to another indian place around.

Priyanka B.

Yelp
We had very bad experience today. I have to throw away the whole dish of bhindi masala because it was so hard to chew. It was over grown bhindi. Do not serve it to someone. And I need credit of this back on my card. Because i have to order something else for dinner. I need response at 714-883-2140 or at abitra@yahoo.com Priyanka

Yelp
I recently dined at Kanishka and had a very positive experience! I opted for the whole tandoori chicken and the Vijayawada biryani, and both dishes were quite enjoyable. The tandoori chicken had a nice smoky flavor, and the biryani had a good mix of spices. The staff was friendly, portion sizes were decent, and the ambiance was comfortable, making Kanishka one of my top choices for Indian cuisine in Seattle.
google avatar

Dave G.

Yelp
A funny thing happened during Covid. Kanishka went from being a great buffet lunch place with a decent dinner menu to being a great dinner place with a decent lunch menu. Now, you find not one, but four types of Chicken Byrani, and three butter chicken styles and many tandoori options, each with very different flavors. Many options of Nan too. Service is strong and prices are reasonable and portions allow a tasty take home meal the next day. Kanishka is my favorite east side Indian restaurant.

Yelp
I came here with some friends. They'd been here before and loved the thali so I wanted to try it too. It is a bit of a drive from downtown Seattle but I thought it was worth it. The space is huge so I don't think you will ever have a problem getting seated. They have a la carte options and the thali. The thali is a big bang for the buck so I would recommend doing that. They have options of 4 or 5 dishes. The dishes include vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Among the 3 of us, we got the madras chicken, paneer, dal, the goat curry, saag chole, sambar dosa. The thali comes with a decent portion of rice, samosa, a naan basket and a gulab jamun. Everything was delicious but the paneer, chicken and the goat curries were the best. I'm someone that tends to have leftovers. With this thali, I had nothing left! It was really, really good. Of course, I didn't eat for another 24 hours lol! Their chai left a lot to be desired. So, I would not recommend that. I'll be back for their thali again!
google avatar

Keely S.

Yelp
Food was delicious, I got the shahi paneer, chicken 65 and some naan. The food was great and great portion size. A little pricey but honestly I think it's worth it. I ordered through door dash and got it delivered so I can't speak on service or atmosphere but the food was 10/10.
google avatar

Anwesha N.

Yelp
Food was good, I think the coconut chicken curry might be the least good item out of everything that was tried. Paneer tikka masala is out of the world, highly recommend. Funny servers though very long wait time. Hopefully they can start having reservations online, that would be helpful!
google avatar

Varsh P.

Yelp
I have been going to this restaurant for the past 9 years and every time the food there is amazing. Very well kept and clean place and quick service and friendly staff. Shahi paneer and garlic naan is our favorite. This time as we saw the menu, it had new items. We tried tomato soup ,gobi Manchurian ,Angara butter chicken and garlic naan. Desserts Gulaab e Gulkand was huge.Pista kulfi was good. The quantity is good too. We had to wait just 5 minutes before we got a table on a weekend around 7pm.

The food here was so good! Me and my family came here last minute and they were able to seat us immediately. All of the glassware and presentation of the dishes was so nice and the food was even better! We got the Malai Kofta, Malabar Paratha, Dal Makhani and Samosa Chaat! The restaurant had a very nice aesthetic and it was very clean and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back soon :)

Yelp
The food is good but place is always crowded. For two times in a row, my reservations have been cancelled for no apparent reason. Be prepared to wait for 35-50 minutes if you plan to arrive without a reservation.

Yelp
Food was really good - at least what we tried. Chicken dishes, vindaloo, naan bread, milkshakes / they have Chickoo milkshake- Bonus point for that. Good ambience, decent service and lots of space to sit and their menu goes on and on and on .. and it did not affect the quality of food we ate. Definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
I am a visitor in Redmond. Was fortunate to be staying across the street from Kanishka. Witnessed a catering order being loaded so walked in. The service was lovely and timely. Meal was delicious.

Yelp
We had the chicken tikka masala and butter chicken curries plus garlic naan, fried chick appetizer, and chai. Everything was excellent. It was PACKED through the parking lot and takeout area. This was a great surprise after we've been missing our go-to Indian place in Everett (it's too far now).

Yelp
No wait at 6pm on a weeknight and our group of four was impressed with the food - although service was a little slow and less attentive than we expected. Absolutely loved the Pakora in particular! We'll be back again, although we didn't think it was worth the 40 minute drive each way, so we're going to wait until we're in the neighborhood before returning.

Yelp
Kanishka is hands down one of the best Indian restaurants near Seattle. I would definitely recommend their gobi Manchurian and biryanis

Yelp
Went for dine in and kaniska had one of the best Indian food with at par price. Servers were nice and service was quick. Ambience is normal and not so fancy but it's a Indian food which you can trust and come often. Had ghobhi manchurian , sahi panner and spinach Naan and all were great.

Yelp
After moving to Arizona a few years back, we returned to Seattle for our sons wedding. Asian (especially Indian food) isn't a huge deal in the SW like it is in the PNW. And I've missed it! Met girlfriends for lunch cause I was craving chicken tikka masala. And it did not disappoint! The service was great, food was beautiful, packed with flavor and portions were enough to share. It was very busy around lunch on a weekday which is always a good sign. They don't have updated physical menus so we needed to scan a QR code to download and order. Overall it was a delicious meal shared with a few of my favorite people.
