Kassi has decent snacks and incredible rooftop views—and that’s the point - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Anyone who liked sipping cocktails while soaking in a seagull’s-eye-view of Venice Beach might still be mourning the loss of the High Rooftop Lounge at Hotel Erwin. But here’s the good news: Kassi has taken over, and it’s pretty much just High Lounge with hummus. And that’s not a slight. The main reason everyone rides the hotel’s creaky elevators to the roof is to soak in the 360-degree views—and those haven’t changed a bit. Plus, now you get to snack on decent Greek food while doing it. And by Greek food, we mean things tourists might eat on a rooftop in Mykonos—whipped avocado dip, watermelon salad, and skewers. Take any visiting friends or family who want to see the ocean up for a drink, and leave knowing you aced the assignment. RESERVE A TABLE WITH RESERVE A TABLE Food Rundown Mezze If you’re feeling snack-y, this is where you should focus your attention. You’re also on a rooftop overlooking the Pacific. Dips and flatbreads were made for these moments. photo credit: Brant Cox Lamb Meatball Skewer Kassi has four skewers on the menu, and this is the best. It’s not large enough to be called an entree, but that also means your vulture friends won’t ask for a bite. photo credit: Brant Cox" - Brant Cox

Kassi Club Opens at Hotel Erwin in Venice With Unbeatable Beachside Views | Eater LA

"Opening on Friday, July 4 on the prime rooftop of Hotel Erwin, this newly remolded rooftop restaurant comes from the Wish You Were Here group, which operates Elephante in Santa Monica and Belles Beach House in Venice; it first opened on West Third Street in 2019 before closing and resurfacing in Las Vegas’s Virgin Hotels, where it morphed into more of a party-like Italian American restaurant that befits Vegas, but the menu will return to its original Greek and Eastern Mediterranean flavors in Venice, operating from lunch to fairly late. On the rooftop, umbrellas encircle an elevated patch of clipped greenery, with lounge seating and dinner tables accommodating 185 diners at a time, and swaying palm trees and the shoreline provide panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean while skateboarders, cyclists, and performing dancers thrive on the concrete expanse a few blocks away on the Venice Boardwalk. Starters include takes on Greek classics such as a spanakopita quesadilla, fried zucchini chips, crispy saganaki with Fresno chile jam, and a cucumber-tomato-feta salad; familiar mezzes like hummus and tzatziki come with za’atar-sprinkled flat bread. Five-ounce portions of skewers feature lamb meatballs with pomegranate molasses, beef tenderloin in red chermoula, and harissa honey chicken, and “the food options are limited enough that decision fatigue shouldn’t settle in.” Drinks are as central as the vistas: shaken sippers like the Oracle of Delphi mix tequila with watermelon, mazzura, and cucumber, draft cocktails such as a honeydew thyme paloma are intended to help bartenders churn out boozy drinks, white and red wines lean toward Greek origins, and a Bondi Brewing Co. lager “hints at Mathers’ and Lim’s upbringings in Australia.” The operation is from the Wish You Were Here team, founded by Nick Mathers and helmed by chef Thomas Lim, and should fit seamlessly into the Venice restaurant milieu as a relaxed, easygoing Greek-leaning spot with stunning vistas; it accepts reservations on OpenTable, and tickets to the July 4 opening party are available on OpenTable for $40 each. Open Sunday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and until 12 a.m. Thursday to Saturday." - Matthew Kang

Virgin Hotel may postpone its opening due to the coronavirus pandemic | Eater Vegas

"Planned to open at the resort (unconfirmed by the resort or partners), L.A.’s Mediterranean island–inspired Kassi Club takes visual and menu cues from Greek coastal tavernas with a space filled with fire pits, lounge seating, charcoal-grilled meats, fish, and vegetables, and a nightlife atmosphere." - Susan Stapleton

The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week, January to July 2019 | Eater LA

"A trendy, elevated Greek concept from a well-known LA operator with a packed room, DJ booth, and lounge-style seating; food is uneven—crudités and eggplant dip are underseasoned and calamari can be chewy—but the salt-baked branzino (served already de-salted at the table) is silky and roasty and rescues the meal, while cocktails and desserts are strong bookends." - Eater Staff

New Mediterranean Restaurant Kassi Club Could Be Trendiest Opening on West Third Street | Eater LA

"Located on busy West Third Street in the former Goldie’s space, this design-forward restaurant from the Wish You Were Here Group (whose local concepts include the Eveleigh and rooftop hotspot Elephante) opened last week. The dining room is built around scene and mood, with light brown tones and mixed textures—loads of hanging fabric, under-bar lighting, rounded archways and rough stone—giving a warmed, textured Mediterranean vibe. The southern Mediterranean menu, meant for sharing, ranges from Italy to Greece to the Middle East and features dishes like grilled octopus, harissa-honey chicken, salt-baked branzino for the table, plenty of pita and a slow-roasted lamb shoulder, alongside cocktails that play with regional flavors. It is open Monday–Friday 5:30 p.m.–1 a.m., Saturday 10 a.m.–1 a.m. and Sunday until 10 p.m., and reservations are available now." - Farley Elliott

Google
Kassi Venice Beach is a beautiful rooftop experience, one to remember! The visual - views and decor is beautiful! Let's jump right into this review. Kassi Venice Beach is located on Pacific Avenue in Santa Monica on the roof of the Erwin Hotel. Walking distance to the famous Muscle Beach. The views from the rooftop overlook the basketball courts that has been scene in movies like White Men Can't Jump and American History X. Parking - plenty of paid lots or valet at the Erwin Hotel. Parking will cost you roughly $10-$20. There is also metered parking and free street parking, which is challenging to find. Read the signs. What did I have - Fried Zucchini Chips - $14 - whipped feta, lemon, & zàtar - light, crispy, and delicious! 10/10 Harissa Honey Chicken (this is a 5oz skewer) - $14 - yogurt, Honey, & lemon - seasoned well, tangy, served with a slice of lemon to squeeze over chicken, definitely adds a nice kick to the skewer 10/10 Hand Pulled Flat Bread - $5 - zàtar salt, olive oil, sea salt - 10/10 Tzatziki - $8 - Greek Yogurt, dill, garlic, & cucumber 8/10 Watermelon Cucumber Spritz - $11 - watermelon juice, lime cucumber, sparkling water - veey refreshing, not overly sweet 8.5/10 Orchard Adaptogens - $14 - aplos, lemon, peach, blueberry, lemon verbena - interesting combination of flavors. The aplos, not knowing what this was prior to ordering, welp, lesson learned. If you like adaptogens, this is your drink 6/10 For the area, views, & venue, I find pricing reasonable. Pros 1. Nice views. 2. Friendly staff. 3. Delicious food and good non-alcoholic drink selections. 4. Comfortable seating. Cons 1. On a hot day, sun beaming like today, eating with minimum coverage overhead was tough. The sun was beaming on me during my entire dining experience. Shot out to my server and the general manager who took great care of me today. I was shocked in a good way when the GM asked me how my meal was, very nice touch. I'll definitely be back with friends.

Everything about this place was wonderful, we had such a great time. The view was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere made it even better. The service was warm and attentive, and every dish we tried was delicious. Definitely a spot I’d come back to and recommend to anyone visiting the area.

I had dinner here last night solo and my expectations were far exceeded! I ordered the crudités, whipped avocado dip, tuna crudo, chip, salmon skewer, and two cocktails (both sage by the bell). Everything I had I genuinely would order again. To start, I expected the chip under the tuna Crudo to be a lot heavier but to my pleasant surprise, it was light and did not detract from the tuna atop. The crudite vegetables paired perfectly with the whipped avocado. The little herbs garnished on it too made it delicious ! I appreciated the little details to elevate the dish. The salmon skewer was moist (not overcooked like so many places prepare salmon). I would definitely order this again. The Sage by the bell cocktail was refreshing and not too sweet. I ordered it twice. The hostess and wait staff were all very kind. I wish I had gotten the name of the girl who was my server. She went above and beyond to make sure I felt tended to. Her hospitality was warm and greatly appreciated. I wasn’t sure if this spot was just some new touristy rooftop because of the location but my experience yesterday proved that the restaurant itself is very worthwhile !! The the rooftop is much bigger than I expected, and has sweeping views of the entire coast. I’ll definitely be back.

Google
Absolutely GORGEOUS view and rooftop. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner here, particularly since we were able to see the sunset! We tried the orchard adaptogen cocktails, calamari, taramasalata (smoked fish dip with an order of bread (bread doesn’t come with it) and a beef skewer. The cocktail was fresh, the calamari gave bang for our buck, and my boyfriend devoured the taramasalata. The bread was like a thin naan and great for the spread. They were out of the salmon skewer, so the beef skewer was recommended to us by our waitress, and it was juicy and had a nice, light marinade on top. We found street parking and walked over but the hotel has valet parking. The team members who helped us were all super chill and friendly. The crowd was young, Westside professional (at least that’s what it was on a Tuesday evening). I’d come back again for sunset views and stellar vibes.

Google
We had a great meal at Kassi. Everything is small plates. Loved the skewers and the whipped avocado a d the fri d zucchini strips. Santorini slushee was delicious (but very small) amazing service from Ayla. Views of course are incredible from the rooftop deck.

Google
Wow wow wow every single part of this place was a 10/10 - great new renovation of this place and FYI it’s Elephante’s sister restaurant! Flatbread is to die for!! Insane spices. #1 dip by far is the whipped avocado. I love that they have the olive oil + lemon juices at the bottom of the Greek salad to just slurp up. Zucchini chips although fried tasted actually healthy, almost as if air fried. We also got hot honey harissa chicken and tzatziki, both great but not the stand out stars of the show. Service was amazing! And the views of course incredible.

Google
The food was good, the atmosphere and views were amazing, but the service was a bit of a downer. Went around 4pm-ish, so that might have made a difference. You had to go to the bar to order (drinks or food), and the line was slow-moving, with only one bartender having to 'do it all'. Unfortunately, it took a bit away from the experience. Other than that, it was fantastic. 👍🏽

Google
Great vibes in one place! Great food and view! The service is good, I do recommend to book in advance. I don’t like that they charge a deposit for that but it is what it is. Night time is amazing or sunset.

Yelp
Amazing rooftop spot at Hotel Erwin! The view is unbeatable, you can see the ocean, the basketball courts, and the Venice Beach skatepark, which gives you that full Venice vibe. The atmosphere is fantastic with a live DJ, great energy, and the perfect mix of chill and fun. The food and drinks were awesome, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Definitely one of the best places to catch the sunset and enjoy the beach vibes from above. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Parking: Find free street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods and walk a couple blocks. Experience: We made a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival and we had such friendly service the whole night! This is a lovely place for sunset drinks and appetizers! There isn't really a bad view. There were some fun drinks and mocktails on the menu and we ordered the hummus & tzatziki with the flatbread which was so good!! They don't really have a full food menu, so you'll probably want to find a real restaurant for dinner.

Yelp
The pitcher for margaritas is literally more expensive than buying them individually. We bought a pitcher after the waiter represented that it was 5-6 drinks.... After pouring them out, it was more like 3 and a half (with tons of ice). We had to complain, he made it super uncomfortable by asking his manager and then coming back and saying that he'd just go ahead and charge us for 4 full price margaritas rather than the pitcher (which saved us like $8). Thought he'd comp us something for the trouble of complaining and the ensuing awkwardness. Nope. On top of that, mandatory gratuity was added which we felt wasn't deserved. Calamari was average. "Greek fries" were just regular fries. Drinks were watered down. Also, the music on a Friday night was way too chill. Felt like we were going to fall asleep. We were hoping to eat, drink, and end up on the dance floor, but nobody was dancing because the music was bad. They need a better DJ.

Yelp
Of course I heard all the rave so decided to finally come check it out. Came around 5 on a Tuesday, and it was pretty empty (which was nice). The views of course, were amazing. The staff was SUPERRR friendly. Very nice and sweet, helpful, everything you'd imagine. I got the seafoam drink and it was SO GOOOOD. The vanilla foam was to die for. We also got the fries, flavor wise it was good but it was SOOO oily. (I came home and threw up a few hrs later). I guess my body couldn't handle all the oil. If I come back I'll probably get something healthier but will def get the drink again! Wish you were here xx

Yelp
Wow -- what an incredible rooftop spot! I'd heard about this place for a while, but I had no idea what a treat I was in for. Stunning 360° views of the ocean and city, beautifully designed seating areas, a lush green space in the center -- even if it's artificial, it still works. The chilled sparkling red wine was surprisingly good. The Cadillac margarita, on the other hand, fell a bit flat. Excellent spot for a date or drinks with friends! I bet sunset here is surreal.

Yelp
As always, the best view in Venice with a good vibe. Parked in the neighborhood and walked over, needed to have a reservation to be let up to the restaurant, or at least the man at the elevator asked if I had a reservation and I said yes, so I'm assuming that during peak times, they only let people up with reservations. Food was good, not memorable but you come for the vibes!

Yelp
Came here with some traveling coworkers for a drink and some sun. I was never a huge fan of High Rooftop, which had great views but the menu was always meh. Complete 180 now. The food was legit. Fries, hummus, and the SKEWERS (chicken and salmon) were all good enough to order another round. Cocktails, alc and N.A., were all beautiful and had a great mix of unique flavors. The servers let us stay longer than we were supposed to because they had a reservation after. Overall can't wait to come back now, especially with out of town friends or a hot date.

Yelp
Craving Santorini or Mykonos but currently can't afford airfare or a proper vacation ? Look no further ! A sunset hang or two at Kassi's rooftop will surely tide you over until your next trip ! 6/5 for customer service ! Kara /Cara was my server and she was excellent. I haven't had such good service in a while... basically not since I stayed at a Ritz Carlton in the UAE or at the Kimpton in London . Views were 8/5!!!But please try to reserve a table, especially if you're going on the weekend or even Mondays (apparently are really popular) . I saw a gentleman who was turned away or at least put in a standby by line because he did not have a reservation because they were fully booked on a Wednesday evening. While, they'll definitely try to accommodate you there are no guarantees, especially as far as Venice goes. As for the food: Best calamari I've ever had! Light and crisp ! Very tasty . I also really enjoyed the flatbread . While the whipped Avocado will please most guest I wish I took a risk and tried the dip with the red caviar or actually went for the classic tzatziki instead ! Next time ! Favorite cocktail hands down was the honeydew thyme Paloma. I also ordered the Oracle of Delphi but it was a bit sweet for my taste and after having the honeydew Paloma, it was very hard to measure up to the perfection of that cocktail. The beef tenderloin was pretty good . i wish it was cooked, medium rare instead of medium. It was really tasty the next day straight out of the fridge, with a bit of Santa Maria seasoning ! Lastly , I heard great things though about the lamb skewers here and I'm really excited to also try that next time ! Will definitely be back !

Yelp
We had stumbled into this amazing place purely by accident as we saw it while strolling on the boardwalk on a Sunday. We took a walk over and were so happy to see such a cool rooftop restaurant! The bar was open but it's standing room only mostly but who minds it with the amazing view. Dinner required reservations so we immediately made them through Open Table for a couple of says after. The ambiance was trendy casual with many happy people enjoying the sights. We had sunset reservations and we lucked out with a table on the west side on the edge. Our waitress Sophie (or Sophia, blanking on name, so sorry) was super friendly and very helpful with explaining the menu items. She offered two glasses of complementary white wine since we were celebrating our anniversary. Please clone her, she was great! We had the Harissa Honey Chicken and Ora King Salmon skewers, asparagus with this delicious creamy sauce, whipped avocado (A MUST!) with some of their tasty warm flat bread. Their Ouzo Orzo was simply delish and we topped our meal with their Watermelon Salad. All the tastes complimented each other perfectly. I do need to say that the chicken and salmon skewers were pretty big so one might be perfect for my next time (there will be!) and both were cooked to PERFECTION! They only have one dessert and it was like frozen yogurt with small marshmallows and some crumbly sweet baklava. A nice little treat to end our perfect night. I did have a dirty martini that was pretty yummy but their espresso martini truly was delish. Can't wait to go back! Oh, and get this! They offered us blankets when the heat lamp kept turning off! They have a few for those special situations. I love this place!

Yelp
Came back to test out their food this time and, we were not disappointed. I will start off by saying, if you're starving, this is probably not where you want to go. But if you want to go somewhere with a gorgeous view, cool vibes, friendly staff and really delicious, albeit lighter dishes, then this is the place to go. We really liked everything we got. Our drinks - Bloody Mary and Japanese Penicillin were delicious. What we ate: pulled flat bread - fresh and tasty. Tzatziki- very good. Greek salad - as good as it looks good on the pics . The spanakopita quesadilla - may have been my favorite. The lamb skewer - so tender and juicy. Our server, Max, was very cool. He was attentive and made recommendations when we asked. Overall a very cool place to come especially on a weekend. Next time we're going to come in the evening and experience the sunset vibes here. @KassiClub @YelpLA

Yelp
I want to Kassi for the first time. The reason was because of an excellent Yelp event. This is an outstanding new restaurant and a beautiful setting. It used to be called the Harbor Rooftop restaurant years ago but now it's Kassi . I started off with the Greek salad, it was excellent. For my entree I had the beef on a skewer which was super top-quality and made perfectly. Absolutely no fat on it at all! In addition, I had a margarita and it was one of the best Cadillac margaritas Ever! The waitress was extremely hospitable and nice. The view was stupendous. I highly recommend this restaurant . I can't wait to come back again and enjoy another great meal.

Yelp
we are so happy we were able to dine at Kassi! We went on a Monday night and were able to get reservations before hand (highly recommend!!). For those who were walking in, a group of 2 behind us, the wait was close to two hours! We were seated right away and we had the lovely opportunity to have Karissa (I hope i spelled her name correctly) as our server. She was quick, sociable, and honest. We were asking her for recommendations on foods and drinks and everything she recommended was amazing! We started with the pulled flat bread - this was an 11/10 it was so fluffy and soft and buttery and just so amazing!! as I am writing this review i realized we were never given the spanakopita quesadilla which is okay - good reason to go back! we ended up getting the beef tenderloin skewers which was so soft and mouth watering, we also did the lamb skewers which were still good just not AS good! the drinks were excellent, the vibes were immaculate, and she walked around with blankets for those who were cold! we highly recommend here and we can't wait to be back (:

Yelp
I popped in her for lunch courtesy of a Yelp Elite event and 10/10 will absolutely be coming back. I'd been to High a few times in the past (solely for the view after the first time) and the food/drinks were a total bust and you basically were just coming for the view. But Kassi has done a COMPLETE 180!! Aesthetic/Decor/Seating: she's giving like OG Bungalow (but less nuts) + soft Mallorca beach club energy. They had a DJ set and the intimate seating areas all along the side of the walkway are super cute. I recommend trying to get a table on the north or west side for the views. Absolutely wear sun screen/have sun protection if you're sensitive to sunlight as not every spot is shaded. There's also standing room at the bar if you just want to come for drinks, music and the views. Customer Service: 10/10 - the two gals at the host stand were super sweet and well organized in greeting guests and getting them seated. George took my drink order and then passed off to Jasmine how was my server for the majority of my meal. Honestly bravo on hiring both of these individuals! George appeared to also be moonlighting as a tour guide with the table next to me and was giving them great tips on spots in Venice as he was pointing out from the roof top view. He was very attentive and thoughtful and was nice enough to move me to a shaded seat once a table opened up. Jasmine was very thoughtful and friendly and knew the menu items well! She gave great recommendations and overall stellar customer service. Food/Drinks: I ordered the crudite with whipped avocado, gem salad, salmon skewer (Jasmine's recommendation) and the Ginger spritz (spacing on the name) mocktail. Overall the food was very well prepared, I would just make a few minor tweaks. The crudite and whipped avocado was my absolute fave I could have made a meal out of that combo alone. The salmon I was pleasantly surprised I was worried it was going to be a bit dry but was cooked perfectly and also paired well with the whipped avocado. The gem salad (although still good) was my least favorite. I think the melon was unnecessary and took away from the salad + it could have used a pinch of flaky salt on top. The mocktail was a smidge on the sweet side for my liking but still good. Parking: I would give yourself an extra 10+ mins for parking and just plan on parking in one of the paid lots. I parked in the one on N Venice Blvd ($20 for the day). Yeah it's a lot but this is standard for visiting this area of Venice so I'd just embrace it if I were you. Location: Kassi is on the rooftop of a hotel and if the hotel is busy it can be a smidge chaotic getting up to the rooftop but overall no major hurtles. There was a trash/sewage odor in the hotel on the elevator ride down which was a bit of putting so hopefully they get that fixed soon. Overall: 10/10 for the food/drinks, amazing views of Venice and beyond an exceptional customer service from the team! This place has only been open for about 2 months and is no doubt going to be POPPING OFF soon once more people catch wind of it. Don't say I didn't warn you and absolutely you need to make a reservation for weekends (yes even lunch) and dinners.

Yelp
The view is great! Can't argue with that. The service was pretty solid too!! The food and drinks were underwhelming for the price and portion size. So don't go here starving. Calamari(3/5) Fries(3.5/5) Chicken skewer (4.5/5) flavor only! 1 skewer for $17 or so bucks is wild Beef skewer (4.5/5) flavor only! Same as chicken for the pricing and portion Penicillin with Japanese whiskey was weak - do not order if you love whiskey because you wouldn't know its in the drink Old fashioned- also underwhelming so i switched to beer.

Yelp
Book a table to watch the sunset. Stayed at the Erwin Hotel for a birthday weekend getaway. The Kassi Rooftop Venice Beach is literally on the rooftop of the hotel. Make a reservation as the tables do fill up. I called and also walked up to reserve directly with the hostess on site to make a Saturday night reservation at seven to watch the sunset. Go for the views! So nice to wake up in the morning and enjoy the sun rising as the day wakes up in Venice Beach. Even more magical to watch the sunset with a 180° view from the rooftop. Although we had requested a table for two right next to the perimeter to enjoy an unobstructed view, one was not available when we arrived. However, once one opened, we just moved one table over to enjoy the views overlooking the beach. Service was very good. Suzy was so sweet. She made several recommendations as both the salmon and lamb skewers that we had planned to order were sold out by 7 PM. Ordered a nice spread of appetizers, a Greek salad, and beef skewers. Since we were staying at the hotel, we kept watching them bring up fresh vegetables every day. The tomatoes and cucumbers looked so ripe and juicy. The Greek salad was fantastic. Cucumbers, Kalamata olives, white onions, and feta cheese with a healthy serving of those juicy ripe, locally grown fresh tomatoes. Add a splash of red wine vinaigrette. A perfect way to start our evening. Added a trio of appetizers. The zucchini fries with whipped feta and zaatar was amazing. One of our favorite bites of the night. The crispy spanakopita was also very good as was the whipped avocado dip. I was surprised that the dips did not come with any thing to dip into them. We also ordered a flatbread, $5 for basically one pita, which was okay, but not the exceptional. My husband also enjoyed the beef tenderloin skewers. Maybe next time we will get the salmon and lamb if they don't run out. Since it was my birthday, the hotel gifted me a $40 voucher which was a nice bonus for evening. Service was excellent. Nice to have a bottle of water which they kept refilled. Bring a jacket, because even in July, it does get chilly when the sun goes down. Blankets are also available. Thanks to Suzy and the team at Kassi Rooftop Venice Beach for a magical birthday celebration. It truly was memorable evening.

Yelp
I had dinner here last night for my second time and it was just as good as the first ! We ordered the crudo chips, cucumber salad, beef kabob, chicken kabob, and various drinks. Everything we ordered I would recommend and order again. We sat in the middle of the rooftop and it is much larger than I originally thought. The service was prompt and we were checked-in with regularly.

Yelp
My friend and I came here on a Friday night. There was a DJ playing music, and people were lining up to get a drink at the bar, while others were sitting and dining. The place felt very much alive. We didn't order much, just a few appetizers. I really liked the Fried Zucchini Chips ($10, served with whipped feta, lemon, and za'tar - delicious!). They have blankets that you can cuddle with since it's getting cold at night. I recommend bringing a jacket. Also, if management is reading this review, please note that people in the food industry work hard. Please don't make your servers split their tips. We left a very generous tip using our credit card to our server, and I casually asked her if the tip money was going straight to her pocket (as it should), but she said they have to split it with everyone else, including the bartenders. Not fair! Please change that policy.

Yelp
Heard about the new Kassi Beach Venice from the team at Belles and stopped by for lunch today. The space is really nice--open and relaxed, with a laid-back beach vibe that fits the neighborhood well. The view is actually insane. We shared a few dishes: all the dips, some of the skewers, and a spanakopita-quesadilla kind of dish that ended up being our favorite. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and easy to enjoy. Service was friendly and the pace felt easy, even though it was starting to fill up. Overall, a solid new spot--looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
We ordered the S&P calamari and quinoa tabbouleh, along with various cocktails. The alcohol content was so low it was barely noticeable. The service was very friendly, and the outdoor ocean view was incredibly relaxing, perfect for a girls' night out or a romantic date. A great spot to enjoy the seaside atmosphere.

Yelp
Absolutely GORGEOUS view and rooftop. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner here, particularly since we were able to see the sunset! We tried the orchard adaptogen cocktails, calamari, taramasalata (smoked fish dip with an order of bread (bread doesn't come with it) and a beef skewer. The crowd was young, Westside professional (at least that's what it was on a Tuesday evening). I'd come back again for sunset views and stellar vibes.

Yelp
You will want to try Kassi, Hotel Erwin's new rooftop restaurant. I haven't been to this spot in years, and it has definitely been upgraded. It still has amazing views, pro tip: plan it out - get a reservation so you can watch the sunset. With this new restaurant the food and drinks are finally worth coming back often. Everything is delicious- cocktails, mocktails and the food - and reasonably priced for what you get. I have already recommended this place to so many people. If you are looking for a new date night spot that will impress or just an upscale place to catch up with friends, I highly recommend Kassi.

Yelp
Went for the 2nd time since new management group has taken over. Love this rooftop and they did a really nice job on the revamp. Comfortable spaces to hang all around. One of the all time best views in LA, even better with the ocean breeze. Venice looks gorgeous from above. I've been visiting this rooftop for many years and am very happy there's now great food available. The superstars at lunch were the calamari, Greek salad, flatbread and tzatziki. Yesenia at the front and our server Dorsa deserve accolades and recognition. The patience to deal with this sometimes entitled and demanding crowd! Rough to witness. Both were incredibly kind. The elevator is and will always be small and on the slow side, oh well. Best to not be in a hurry or take the stairs. It's a lovely spot.

Yelp
I love this rooftop. It's the coolest rooftop in the west side right now for me. It's giving chill tulum vibes, I wish they had an all day dj. I came on a Friday at 4pm and it was already packed. I would highly recommend to get reservations. The drinks and food were delicious and my server was very chill and friendly. The food was very small, I wish they were alittle bigger portions so we can share more.

Yelp
This place has an amazing aesthetic with amazing views! Reservations are highly recommended if visiting on the weekend, unless you just want a drink. You can head to the bar area and lounge around there. Unfortunately, we didn't get to order food this time, as we needed a reservation. Next time I'm in LA, I'll give this a try.

Yelp
This review is from a complimentary Yelp elite event, all my thoughts are my genuine thoughts. Overall, super great ambiance, portions are smaller as a tapas kind of vibe, super great for a friends hang out/ happy hour. THIS IS GREAT FOR INSTAGRAM PICTURES!!! Entrance: Kassi is right off the Venice boardwalk inside Hotel Erwin. Super easy to find once you know where you're going -- just head to the front of the hotel and check in with the lady outside (tell her it's for Kassi). Then you take the elevator up to the 6th floor. If you're walking from the boardwalk (like I did), look up for the tan umbrellas on top of the building so you know you're in the right spot, then loop around to the front to enter. Ambiance: As soon as you step out of the elevator, you're hit with this gorgeous view of Venice Beach. Total photo-op spot. I checked in with the hostesses and only waited a couple minutes before getting seated. My table was off to the side and had an amazing view of the ocean, boardwalk, and the skatepark. One tip I'm glad I read from another Yelper: WEAR SUNSCREEN. It's all outdoors and depending on the time of day, you're definitely in the sun. Perfect vibe but you'll fry without protection. Dress code is pretty flexible, but dress up if you can. I saw everything from people in beach cover-ups and wet hair to girls in full-on dinner dresses with glam makeup. Overall, about 70% of people looked like they were dressed for Instagram -- at minimum, nice jeans and a cute top will fit in, but I really recommend a nice dress/outfit. This is where you & girlies would go for cute brunch pictures in nice outfits!! Staff: My waitress, Sofia, was the sweetest. Super kind and helpful with recommendations, especially for drinks and food. She checked in on us a few times but never rushed us, which I loved. Drinks: I ordered the Watermelon Cucumber Spritz ($11) and the Oracle of Delphi ($18). Drinks came out fast even though the bar area was packed (Sunday at 6 PM, totally full). The cucumber spritz was light, refreshing, and perfect in the sun. The Oracle of Delphi was also really good -- Sofia sold me on it just by describing the ingredients. Drinks are on the smaller side, but honestly, that's kind of the vibe when you're sipping cocktails by the boardwalk in Venice. Food: We went in on a bunch of dishes, the portions are a bit smaller since it's tapas style, but they were decently filling: * S&P Calamari ($18) -- honestly the best deal on the menu because of the portion size. Super shareable. * Hand-pulled bread ($5) -- kind of like naan but flatter. A little chewy/tough to tear apart, but still tasty, especially paired with... * Whipped avocado ($10) -- SO GOOD. I'm usually not a saucy person, but my partner and I literally cleaned the bowl. Huge thanks to Sofia for recommending this! We even started dipping our fries and calamari in it after the bread was gone. * French fries ($10) -- amazing when they first hit the table, crispy and hot. They do get cold/hard if you let them sit, so eat quick. * Beef tenderloin skewer ($16) -- exceeded my expectations. Portion is smaller (4 pieces of beef), but wow, the marinade and sauce were on point. The beef itself was super tender, no knife struggle at all. Overall: I'd definitely come back to Kassi. The food and drinks were solid, but the real star here is the ambiance and that view over Venice Beach. Staff was kind, service was easygoing, and the whole experience felt like a little escape. Pro tip: make a reservation, especially near sunset. Every table was booked. If you can't snag one, put yourself on the waitlist and hang at the bar until they can seat you.

Yelp
Chic rooftop bar in Venice with really great ocean front views. Ordered their elderflower spritz and my friend had the vanilla seafoam both drinks were great and refreshing. They only let you sit if you order food. Food seemed to be small tapa plates and appetizers didn't look too appetizing but would come back for drinks and the view.

Yelp
Fun rooftop quality restaurant. Great food and nice staff. I'm coming back. The beef skewer was very filling and tasty.

Yelp
This is LA's hottest new rooftop! Super aesthetic, spacious, and perfect for dates or even larger groups gatherings. Loved their garden area which also serves as a standing table top. The food was so good! We tried their calamari, crudo chips with salmon, flat bread with various dips, but the real star of the show was their skewers! Super juicy, super flavorful, and a good portion. Their drinks were really good too. They had a lot of staff working and everyone was pretty attentive and quick with service. And definitely can't forget about the ocean view!

Yelp
Thank you, Yelp! The staff were amazing and they go above and beyond to serve you. Food and views are amazing. Don't let what looks "small" fool you. I was stuffed. Note to self: wear sweatpants on all Yelp events so I can eat.

Yelp
The food was high quality & well prepared though portions were pretty small. The main selling point of this place is the view (which is pretty amazing, on a clear day).

Yelp
I've been to Kassi 3 times and each time brought guests. The view, cocktails, (Seafoam and the Pom mule are my favorite) and service has been excellent. The whipped avocado with the flatbread is a must. Our friends loved the tomato salad. It's not traditional dining seating, so just wear layers and you may be seated more like on a couch with a table to nibble off of. I believe there are also some regular high tops and tables.

Yelp
YUM!!! Kassi is my new favorite restaurant I absolutely loved the food, service, and views. I'm from Santa Monica so I'm pretty particular with westside fun. But Kassi superceded my expectations! It's on the rooftop of Hotel Erwin in Venice. First off, I could bring my dog which is always a plus. Rico loved the restaurant too! Especially that they give you blankets because it can get chilly being on the beach I loved the Harissa Honey Chicken Skewers, Watermelon Salad, and Tzazki with Flatbread. The food was impressive! You can really taste the quality. I recommend getting a bunch of the dishes and sharing with friends or on a date. I drank the Phony Negroni which was delicious Normally, mocktails can taste too sweet or just taste like juice. This version of the Negroni tasted very similar to the real one which was fun! I would highly recommend checking out this place - especially at sunset. You overlook the iconic skateboard park in Venice. This place is getting popular so I would make a reservation. Enjoy!

Yelp
Was staying at Hotel Erwin so we decided to watch the sunset on their new rooftop bar Kassi! Be sure to make reservations or else you'll only be able to stand in the bar area. I had requested in the notes for a sunset side table but was sat on the opposite side, luckily they were able to find me a new table. If you don't have a lounge table the seating is kind of tight. We ordered 4 drinks, lamb meatballs, and fried zucchini. Food was solid but the drinks were small and didn't have much alcohol for being $20 each. Overall it's definitely a place you come for the vibes, they have good music playing and the view is amazing. Grab some pizza downstairs at Pizza Girl after!

Yelp
We had lunch today at Kassi Rooftop and everything was exceptional from parking to service to food itself. Enter the Hotel Erwin parking lot from Pacific Avenue and the valet will take your car for $20 and park it in a lot across the street. Ride the elevator up to the rooftop and that is where the fun begins. We were seated promptly at our reservation time on the lovely rooftop patio. The view is amazing, the ocean and the city; and all all yours- for a couple of hours. We were greeted warmly by our server, Taylor, who was charming and efficient all through our lunch. He recommended just the right amount of dishes for two of us. We started with Spanakopita Quesadilla with green chili and garlic yogurt dipping sauce. The spanakopita was filled with spinach and feta and was quite delicious. Next came the star of the show, the Fried Zucchini Chips. This was my favorite dish and was served with whipped feta and za'atar. We followed this with the Crudo Chips with tuna, avocado, and spicy aioli served on a pita chip. The grilled flatbread with Tzatziki was also fantastic and served with za'atar, salt, olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt. This was plenty of food for both of us and we left full and happy. We love Kassi and you will too!

Yelp
I hate to leave bad reviews, when so many places are struggling to survive & thrive; but discerning customers also have to choose where to spend their hard-earned money. Without the glorious view this would be a 1 star review for the tiny, expensive, portions of mediocre food, average wines and hit or miss cocktails for our party of 5 people on a quiet week-night. $14 Heirloom tomato salad consisted of almost flavorless tomatoes with some scattered white onion slices. $10 Whipped Avocado had smooth texture but it was relatively bland $5 Single piece of Pulled Flatbread was drenched in oil $10 French Fries were literally soaked with oil, to the point where you really couldn't taste the potato, aioli was nothing special $10 Zucchini Chips were so greasy, simply drenched in oil $18 Ora King Salmon flavor was good and not overcooked (small portion; menu does indicate it's 5oz portion) $14 Chicken was also miniature portion for the money (small portion; menu does indicate it's 5oz portion) $19 Old Fashioned was an over-priced disappointment $17 Sundial my friends liked this cocktail The servers were very polite, but not organized or efficient. No cutlery & napkins until after our food arrived. They didn't stop by the table to see if we needed anything after the food arrived. They graciously brought 2 small sips of wine for my friend to choose between, upon making her selection, they brought her the wrong glass. No one came by to light the heat lamp or bring the blankets they promised (we went and found our own). Overall, it felt like there were inexperienced or careless people in the kitchen. Hopefully they sort this out and are able to elevate the food to match the view (and the prices).

Yelp
Kassi Rooftop Bar is such a vibe! The moment you step out onto the terrace, you're greeted with breathtaking views of Venice Beach and the ocean -- the kind that instantly makes you feel like you're on vacation. The salty breeze, the sunset over the water, and the twinkling lights along the shoreline create the perfect backdrop for drinks. looove it!! The cocktails are creative and balanced -- I loved the house special, which had a fresh, citrusy punch. Small plates are worth trying too, especially the crispy calamari. Service was warm and attentive without rushing us, so it's easy to settle in and enjoy the evening. The atmosphere is chic yet relaxed -- great for a date night or catching up with friends. Yes, prices lean upscale, but for the ocean view, quality, and overall experience, it feels absolutely worth it. Everything arrived quickly and tasted fresh. Tip: make a reservation and arrive just before sunset -- watching the sun dip into the Pacific while sipping a cocktail is an experience you won't forget.

Yelp
I don't understand Kassi's food and drink policy and neither to their employees. We arrived Saturday night at 5pm and waited in line to go up the roof top bar like everyone else (it is gorgeous up there by the way). Our intention was to have drinks and appetizers and then move on to our dinner reservation location. At the top upon exiting the elevator, the hostess told us we can grab a drink at the bar. But they don't really define where the bar starts and stops. It's a lovely long area of tables and a long high top bar on either side of plastic flowers in the middle. So we went down to the end of the bar by the end of the building and got a nice sofa banquet and tried to order drinks but could never flag down a server. So I walked back to the bar and ordered drinks and took them back to our banquet. We sat there for 30 minutes and then decided to order our aps. I flagged down a waitress since we had been ignored for 30 minutes and she told us we couldn't order any food unless we had a dinner reservation. I wish that had told us that upon arrival. And then she told us to clear out of the banquet since they had dinner reservations flooding in at 5:30 and 6pm. So now we knew those evolving rules and stood along the long bar and I went back to the bar tender and and tried to order aps from her and she told me flag down a server. I told her that was against the rules and then she said she had no idea what the rules were. In the meantime there was a much older man all hooked up with his earpiece and very authoritative and he kept pushing us down the long bar saying where we were standing was closing for a private party. Again we didn't really understand the rules and just wanted to order food but that wasn't allowed and the angry/mean older man just kept giving us the evil eye and seemed like the only guy who knew what he was doing but was just like an Angry Dad. And by the way, over one hour and half no one ever sat at the banquet we were at and no one allowed us to ever order food and the whole experience seemed surreal. So I cant rate the food because they basically refused us service and the entire scene by the time we left at 6:50 totally famished as the bar top turned into some type of a wild Rave for 22 year olds in short dresses and blaring music was beyond comprehension. I know this spot is part of a huge corporation that owns Elephante called Wish you Were Here but clearly they didn't want our party of 4 there.

Yelp
After driving over an hour to get here due to LA traffic and paying $20 for parking, we were excited for an experience on the rooftop. After taking the hotel elevator up to the rooftop, we were turned down by the staff who was clueless about the Yelp event. After showing her my confirmation email, the staff confusingly called her manager. After a few minutes, we were told they didn't have space and to come back another day. The staff didn't even offer for us to wait, which we were willing to do. We left feeling Rejected and disappointed

Yelp
Looking for something different and fun to do for lunch, my wife and I recently found out that Kassi opened in Venice Beach and we decided to go for a late lunch. That was a good decision! Kassi is the rooftop restaurant for the Edwin Hotel. You have to take the elevator up (and they check your ID too). Once you get up there, the setting is amazing. There is a bar area and 2 small zones with tabletop for 2. The main dining area are these lovely comfy lounges and chairs with a low large central table where plates can be put. You will be leaning over to dine and make sure you have a large napkin to cover your legs. We got lucky and got a lounge area with an ocean view. It was insane! It was a bit windy but they hand out blankets as needed. I still can't get past the amazing 360 deg view. Kassi has an extensive drink menu and we had some non-alcoholic spritz which were great! The menu is not that extensive but it is great for sharing plates. We had the Hand Pulled Flatbread (amazing), the Harassment Honey Chicken (great with the flatbread), the Heirloom Tomato Salad (also great), the French "Fries" (also great and with lemon aoli dip) and the Spanokopita (okay, our least fav). Service was nice/friendly though know that the food comes out randomly. It worked for us. They do have umbrellas up there but be aware that on sunny days you won't always be in the shade. They also have wind blocks but it you are up there is. The early evening, bring a jacket. Overall, we would definitely go back again. It was a great combo of good food and an excellent dining spot with a crazy good view.

Yelp
I'm being generous with two stars only because the location and view were so stunning. The hostess when we first arrived was also lovely. However, it was pandemonium on the street level to get to the elevators and no clear message about where we were supposed to line up to get to the restaurant. Even though we had a reservation, the table wasn't ready for us when we arrived and we were seated at least 30 minutes after the reservation time. The food and drink were mediocre at best and the service was spotty. The drinks were expensive but didn't live up to the price. $5 for one piece of flatbread should be embarrassing. There was nothing special about the bread. We ordered several of the small plates and a couple were so salty we had to send them back. The other plates were fine but not spectacular. The staff didn't really know anything about the food (it feels as if they haven't actually tasted it so couldn't even speak to what the ingredients were, etc) and then they kept forgetting to bring us things. It took forever to get the water we asked for when we first sat down. We had to remind them to bring things we had ordered a while back. The consensus of my party is that none of us will likely return. Too bad, because that view really is awesome.

Yelp
Came here on this idyllic Friday afternoon at 3:30 pm with some friends for cocktails. It's beautifully decorated with super comfy couches and chairs with an incredible view of the ocean and surrounding mountains. Light electronic and contemporary music playing in the background, a great place to enjoy the beauty of LA. Drinks were delicious, they have a very creative cocktail menu with thoughtful, fresh garnishes, we thoroughly enjoyed our drinks. One star off for aloof, rude-ish bartenders. Was a very quiet afternoon, only a handful of people there so they weren't busy, but they acted like we were bothering them with our order. No greeting back, no smiles, and when we thanked them, we got a blank stare in return. All other staff were very friendly. Decided not to go back and get more drinks because of the attitude.

Yelp
Very nice view but food is just okay and super small portions not really worth the price

Yelp
I went with my bestie last night and we spent $225 for literally appetizers and each got 2 drinks. The food was alright at best. We both ended up sick all night. Definitely not worth it. So disappointing because I absolutely love the sister restaurants so I was hopeful but won't be going back. Huge waste of money

Yelp
Food was SO good - loved the dips, flat bread, skewers, and salads. Cocktails delicious too. But the real star of the place is the view! Gorgeous for sunset or any other time of day. You can see the whole bay! Really spectacular. Also, great people watching.

Yelp
The food service and ambience here were excellent. I came here with some coworkers for lunch. They are from out of town and I don't get to see them very often so it was a special occasion. I sent them 4 options for lunch and they chose this place mostly for the beautiful views. However, the food was yummy and we weren't disappointed. Everything was fresh, light yet filling. One of my coworkers is gluten-free and there were plenty of options for her. The steak kebab and honey chicken kebab was delicious but I particularly enjoy the crispy French fries, hummus and flatbread. The views were outstanding and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice happy hour and relaxing lunch. $15 valet so I would recommend finding parking somewhere else if you don't want to pay that price.

Yelp
1 Star -- Awful Service & Unsafe Environment I came here tonight because the website says they're open until 10, but the service was beyond terrible from the moment we sat down. It took 15 minutes just to get a drink, and when it finally arrived, they served blanco instead of reposado -- not once, but twice. Then they charged us for the wrong type of tequila, and when we pointed it out, the servers got defensive and rude instead of fixing it. The whole experience was just frustrating and disrespectful. On top of that, the floor was soaking wet around 9 PM, and no one bothered to put up a sign -- super dangerous, until I told the bartenders someone could easily slip. There was also a broken chair at our table that could've hurt someone. For a place that's supposed to have good vibes, this was just a mess -- unprofessional staff, careless management, and a total lack of basic safety or hospitality. Venice has way better spots than this. Skip Kassi if you value your time, money, or well-being.

Great views especially at sunset. Great drinks and ambiance. The one elevator for the whole hotel and club is a drag.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my time! Great for a causal or romantic setting. My server definitely was friendly and willing to help. Food was good. No complaints. Honestly, it's not something where it's top of mind to a full course meal. It's like laughing over a bunch of light bites. You can get full if you try a little of everything. Favorite snack was the hummus and pita bread. Calamari was good. Their main lobster dish was nice, not too heavy. We tried their Paloma pitcher was not impressed. We felt like it was water down with all the ice. We was told it's because it's a draft cocktail. Of course we had to order two shots. Wish they weren't in those bar shot glasses. We also ordered the classic margaritas which wasn't too bad either. We enjoyed date night late at night. It's definitely a vibe setter. We said we come back with our friends.

Yelp
Really amazing atmosphere with stellar views! The only thing I would recommend is more PIZZAZZ for their food. There is far too much OIL in everything. It's an oil based menu at this point. The Salmon Skewer was actually flavorful but the oilyness of everything else overshadowed it. The dips don't have enough flavor and there is no "Spicy Sauce" to cut through all of the oil drenched food. Would I go back again? Yes. Would I bring my own Sauce to counter the Oil on everything? Yes. And no Coffee or Tea?? Why? This would be a major improvement!! :)
