The Best Restaurants in Upper Kirby, Houston | Eater Houston

"While modern Indian dining has become more prevalent in Houston in recent years, Khyber shines by sticking to tradition. The decades-old restaurant boasts a menu inspired by northwest Indian cuisine, with a spotlight on grilled meats cooked in a charcoal tandoor oven. Pillowy naan serves as a worthy vessel for scooping up saucy butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, and desserts like kheer and gulab jamun are a treat after a spicy meal." - Brittany Britto Garley

The 7 Best Indian Restaurants In Houston

"Khyber Grill has been around for a few decades serving Indian dishes that keep us warm from the inside out (but that could also be the spice level). Nothing soaks up the flavor of the tomato curry like the delicate lamb and rich butter chicken. Alongside the massive portions, this Upper Kirby place is a casual spot made for a weeknight meal. And try to share the malai kofta, which will become your hyperfixation dish for the next few months." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Khyber North Indian Grill Review - Upper Kirby - Houston - The Infatuation

"Khyber Grill has been around for a few decades serving Indian dishes that keep us warm from the inside out (but that could also be the spice level). Nothing soaks up the flavor of the tomato curry like the delicate lamb and rich butter chicken. Alongside the massive portions, this Upper Kirby place is a casual spot made for a weeknight meal. And try to share the malai kofta, which will become your hyperfixation dish for the next few months. photo credit: Liz Silva photo credit: Liz Silva photo credit: Liz Silva Food Rundown photo credit: Liz Silva Malai Kofta Clocking in as one of our favorite dishes here, the bouncy dumpling texture, and subtle spice of the malai kofta keeps us coming back for more. Saag Paneer The saag paneer is fresh with firm blocks of cheese. It is serviceable but doesn’t have quite as much flavor as the other dishes. Opt for the malai kofta instead. photo credit: Liz Silva Butter Chicken Khyber Grill is on our shortlist for the best butter chicken in Houston. The tender chicken is soaked in garlic and tomato flavor. We typically order extra naan to ensure we can soak up every bit of this dish. photo credit: Gianni Greene Lamb Curry Heat is the main ingredient in the lamb curry, and that’s why we love it. Sweat it out as you eat through spoonfuls of delicate lamb that’s bathed in garlic. photo credit: Gianni Greene Dessert Khyber has a few dessert options, but our favorite is the cooling kheer. The rice pudding and golden raisins are subtly sweet and the crunch from crushed pistachios give the dish a little extra earthiness." - Gianni Greene

We have gone to Khyber a few times and they’re always delicious. Today we had their lunch buffet, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The customer service is truly outstanding—the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even assisting my elderly grandmother to her seat with so much patience and kindness. The buffet was a perfect way to try a little bit of everything, and every dish was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. They also brought naan directly to our table, which was perfectly fluffy with a slight crisp. And to top it all off, dessert was fantastic! If you’re looking for delicious Indian cuisine with warm and attentive service, I highly recommend Khyber. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Was here on a Friday where they had the buffet option. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. Going into the restaurant the ambience was a cool, casual, setting . The service and the waiter there were very helpful and attentive. I really enjoyed the chicken, biryani, butter, chicken, naan, and tikka masala Tikka masala - 8/10 Chicken Biryani - 8/10 Butter chicken - 9/10 Naan - 8.5/10

Google
Buffet selection of great Indian food! Plenty of tables and space for any size of groups. Couldn’t get enough of naan and palak paneer!

I absolutely love this place!!! The food is so delicious, consistency is always on par, and the service makes me feel like I am a valued customer! The saag paneer is the best I've ever had! The coffee is delicious and DO NOT skip out on the pistachio naan for dessert!!! I strongly suggest that you try this place out!!! They have a lunch buffet where you can try everything!

Oh my goodness I absolutely love eating here! Their food is just top notch. The service? So incredible, the staff is just so kind, always asks how we’re doing. And the decor is great! I would definitely recommend dinning here!

Our family with a baby came here for their lunch buffet and we loved it. Service was top notch, everyone was so friendly and attentive. Food was very solid with all the classic options. It was my baby first time trying Indian food and she dug the paneer! Def added to our rotation list.

Google
This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in H-Town. It's a very nice restaurant, atmosphere and the food is really good. It's North Indian food so if you're used to South Indian foods the flavoring & all is slightly different. I can't say one is better than the other, overall Indian food is just damn delicious. I absolutely love this place and the many times that I've gone here & brought friends & family I never had a bad dining experience.

Google
Such a wonderful experience.. Our service was beyond expectations. I had the Lamb and was delighted by the taste.. but the portion size was equally impressive. Thank you for a fantastic experience. We will be back often.. "This recipe is going to be hard to beat... It is deceptive in its simplicity."

Yelp
We have been coming to Khyber grill for 20+ years, even tho it's now a 45 minute drive for us. We have tried restaurants closer to us, but none of them come close. The food is consistently great, the lunchbuffet offers a really nice variety and the place is super clean. You can see right into the kitchen from the seating area. Service is attentive and while some may think it's a bit pricy, i is so much better than other restaurants, we still feel it is well worth the price.

Yelp
Saag paneer - 10/10 Butter chicken - 9.5/10 Chicken tikka - 9/10 Mixed grille - 9/10 Chicken biryani - 8.5/10 Lamb curry - 8/10 Daal makhni - 8/10 Peshawari naan - 10/10 Naan - 10/10 Kheer - 9/10 Actually surprised ive never been here before This has become my next favorite desi restaurant after Agas. My favorite items were the saag paneer and butter chicken. Their naan was some of the fluffiest naan ive ever tried. One of my favorite things was that the food wasnt oily like most desi food and the quality was . The ambiance and service is also amazing. They offer lunch buffets (buffet items are less spicy ) as well as an a la carte menu (more spicier items if requested). Definitely recommend checking them out!

Yelp
This place is so good that even though two of us got full we still end of getting two more curry. Highly recommend it. If you also like Indian food or wanna try Indian food for the first time this place won't let you down.

Yelp
Service was fantastic here, our waiter was extremely helpful and friendly in picking out an appropriate spice level and questions about the menu. Atmosphere was nice, an open kitchen meant some nice background noise. The food was decent, but maybe not the best I've had. It's like it's just missing something to make the dishes really stand out. We had the samosas which were fine, but not as well spiced as I prefer. The chicken tikka masala was fine too but again, I think just ever so slightly underspiced. The lamb vindaloo was good though, I thought that was the best dish of the ones we tried. Hot is a good spice level if you enjoy spicy food. It's not burn your tongue off but there's a nice heat that builds as you eat more.

Yelp
My daughter and I went this evening for dinner and were delighted with the 2 person meal! It was $55 and was well worth it. We each got a full plate that included rice, shrimp, lamb, chicken and several vegetable dishes. Plus it includes 4 curry dishes to share of chicken, lamb, lentils, and paneer. It was a table full of a variety of everything plus a hefty portion of naan. We even took some home for leftovers. Ours was mild so if you like spicy you may need to request that. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere is nice plus they have a patio. we recommend this place!

Yelp
First time visiting per recommendation of a friend. I always see their signs and really enjoy them so this place had been on my list to visit. They bring out a complimentary bread for the table. I missed the name of it but I believe it was papadum with chutneys. It was very good. The service was great and they are so friendly! I was just going to get something small as I had already ate so I just went with my vegetarian favorites of Aloo gobi and saag paneer. The aloo gobi was good not the best I've had but it hit the spot. The Saag Paneer though!!! It was the best I've ever had. And it was such a good portion so I took home a bunch! I can't wait to come back for an big meal!

Yelp
Khyber has always been a favorite place to dine for me! Their delicious food, stellar service & relaxed atmosphere attribute to its success! Additionally, the owners are genuine and kind and check on each table of guests to make sure everything is fine. I highly recommend Khyber!!!

Yelp
I am pretty picky when it comes to biryani bc I don't generally care for that entree in most places. I never had it here before even once and decided to try it one night. The Chicken Biryani I requested at medium-plus spicy was delicious, soft, a tad crispy from the crunchy almond shavings and a tad sweet from the green/white raisins. Savory, a bit spicy and a little sweet all in one balanced blend. The chicken was very well-prepared with good flavor and very noticeable tenderness. I always enjoy a cool, refreshing cucumber & tomato salad with hot meals in certain places, which they give on the side. The service was great and friendly from my server. My favorite dishes of all at Khyber Grill are still the Butter Chicken and Chicken Saag and for the sweets the Gulab Jamun and Mango Lassi.

Yelp
Service is great. They're always very friendly and fast. The ambiance is a nice vibe, especially at night when the candles are lit. Good date spot. The food is excellent, although the saag paneer is not as creamy as I'm used too. But the meats are flavorful and grilled well. The chicken is tender. The prawns are cool too. The masla is rich in tomato flavor. It tastes fresh. The punch buffet is a good deal but I appreciate the dinner menu. Overall, I'd come back. I've been here a few times and if in the area, it's a good choice.

Yelp
Solid option for AYCE Indian lunch buffet in the area for $25! Im always a fan of their saag paneer, chicken tiki masala, and rice pudding for dessert. This place also has great papadams (sort of like giant chips) that you can grab the green and red sauces for dipping. This place is also really good about bringing you fresh, pipping hot naan. So if you are running low, or even if you aren't they will come by and say hi. Ive been coming here for years, and service and quality have been pretty consistent. Why not 5 stars? The place is a great fix anytime Im feeling the saag and tiki masala munchies.. I wish their buffet was slightly bigger, so there is some upward room for improvement.. On a humorous note, this place always has great humor on the marquee sign outside. They used to parody the Pappadeaux next door (which is unfortunately now closed).

Yelp
I found this place after looking for Indian cuisine. The reviews are very mixed and I now know why. Ordering chicken curry and chicken biriyani and spending about 40.00. I was very disappointed I ordered chicken biryani and I thought the chicken biryani was plain. I had to search through it. It was very little chicken. I ordered spicy curry and the spice level was right. The chicken was dry. The naan was very good and the plain rice was also. The Kachumber Salad was good. I'll keep looking for a good Indian place. This one made me sad.

Yelp
The food was great if your looking to try Indian food definitely go here the butter chicken was really good the service was good to and for the desserts I had mango sherbet they used a smart technique they hollow out the real mango then use the fruit for the sherbet then the outline goes in the freezer and when they serve it they put it in there and it stays nice and cool cuz it was in the freezer definitely come here also Pam if you see this it's lord.

Yelp
We were working in the Kirby area and decided to have lunch. Wow!! What a wonderful surprise. The food here is amazing!! I had beef kofta, pullao rice, cucumber-tomato salad, tandoori chicken tikka, chicken tikka masala, lamb stew, saag paneer!! Then dessert gulab jamun and kheer was amazing. I've eaten at other Indian restaurants but this one was outstanding very different from the rest in Houston. All of the meats served were moist and not dry or overcooked!! The service provided was incredible and given with such care, my server Hafiz was extremely funny and charming too. Located in the Kirby area it's a must go to restaurant!! The atmosphere was very traditional and beautiful as well!! I will definitely come drive here from my home to eat here again!!

A A.

Yelp
Inedible, really bad in my opinion - Side salad was not fresh - Rice was raw - Mataar Paneer was syrupy sweet - Bengain Bharta was very oily, had a grainy texture, and had some other items mixed into it, so it did not even taste like eggplant Much better Indian food options in the area!

Yelp
Food was delicious. Arrived at 1pm on Sunday . Just in time to enjoy a great assortment of entrees on the buffet. Service was attentive. Always ready to refill bread and water. Restaurant was clean and tables were spaced so conversations were possible to keep private. Parking was plentiful at that time.

Yelp
Lunch buffet: $25 Weekdays Not sure if it changes but this was the selection on the day I went: Chicken masala Lamb curry Rice Lentil daal Veggie curry Saag paneer Okra dish Beef kebab Chicken grilled tandoori Rice pudding and gulab jamun

Avinash A.

Yelp
First off I would like to start with the good parts. The customer service is very good. They greet you at the door and they seat you immediately and tend to any table needs as promptly as possible. Also, they give you fresh made naan which is just incredible because it tastes great coming out of that oven so fresh. But unfortunately, the rest of the food has much to desire. The chicken tandoori is basically a chicken breast that was lightly marinated in tandoori flavoring. Very bland and unappetizing. The chicken tikka masala usually is standard in Indian restaurants, and it's pretty hard to mess up, but this one was very sour I think from using too much tomato sauce and not enough cream to balance it. The rice and the beef kofta was OK, nothing too much to complain about. I didn't try any of the vegetarian options but people in my table did and they said it was not very good either. Like I said, the people were nice, and the customer service was good, I wish the restaurant all the best, but unless the food improves dramatically, I don't think I will be visiting here again

Yelp
So pleasantly surprised by Khyber! Ordered take-out this past weekend and it was a delicious meal (and delicious leftovers next day). First of all, I appreciated their menu. I love that they have curated dinner options. There are dinners for one person as well as two people, that are reasonably priced and generously packed. We ordered the Dawat Dinner for Two. The food was really tasty. The dinner included beef, chicken, shrimp, lamb -- all delicious (good texture as well). The saag paneer (although a bit scant on the cheese) was so tasty. Same with the daal and the naan. Also tried a Gulab Jamun pastry for dessert -- yum. Overall, a great meal. Would totally order again and recommend to anyone craving North Indian cuisine.

Yelp
My fav were Onion Bhaji, spicy onion salad & Sagg Paneer-so creamy, the best sagg paneer I had in yrs!!! It's a must try. Amazing service. There was a lady who I presume to be an owner or a manager came to ask how my food was and even took my chicken tikka to be re-made without having to ask for it only because I said I normally like it creamier, and o yes, the creamier version was so delicious! It's rare to get this kind of service nowadays, it was such a treat! She was so cute, ask me if her tikka was 10/10‍ Ambience- I went to later than normal, enjoyed a quite elegant candlelight dinner. I still can't get over their Saag Paneer, gonna have to plan another visit soon.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience with Khyber North Indian Grill. I ordered their butter chicken and was extremely impressed--the flavor was incredible, just the right amount of spice, and the chicken was tender and delicious. With the dish, they also included rice, naan, cucumber + tomato salad, and more. Everything was great. While I ordered takeout, I did see the restaurant when I picked up the food, and it had a very nice, warm ambiance. Definitely recommend this establishment if you are looking for Indian food in Houston.

Yelp
There was no wait when we got there. Atmosphere suits families and couples. FYI, they don't take reservations for 4 or less people. Food portion was a lot more than we thought so we took home some leftovers. Wasn't as spicy and not too heavy. I liked the butter chicken the most. Customer service was top tier. Our waiter always came by to refill our waters and made jokes right when I arrived. Funny person, would love to see him again. Overall, it was a good experience :)

Yelp
I have never dined in but this is my go to for Sunday take out. The tikka masala chicken is HEAVENLY. The spices and thickness of the sauce sends me into outter space and they do not skimp you on a crispy cracker like item and a huge cut of pita bread along with two homemade sauces one is sweet and vinegary and the other is almost like a cilantro sauce that's a little spicy! The rice is perfectly fluffy and vibrant with its own spice and I always pair my meal with a mango lassi which is like a frozen mango milkshake. The Togo counter is always prompt and the staff is always kind. The inside is inviting and the servers wear slacks instead of corporate uniforms. I don't live nearby anymore but I go out of my way to pick this up on my way home from visiting my parents.

Gayle D.

Yelp
Lovely dinner - butter chicken was fantastic. Loved the grilled paneer. Service was amazing especially since I was flying split with two little kids and the owners and staff were very kind.

Deborah J.

Yelp
I've eaten at Khyber many times over the years. Went a few days ago for lunch buffet and things are not quite up to par. The food was good, but some dishes were dry, lacking flavor and seemed to have been sitting for a long time. The naan is being made like tortillas. It was too crispy. The place looks rundown, chipped paint , dim bathrooms that look old. Is there new management? The outside has been painted and looks like a Mexican food place. Just not as classy as before. No more khyber for me
google avatar

Trisha R.

Yelp
Had dinner here with my coworkers and we all ordered butter chicken lol it was delicious and well-priced. Service was great -- staff was very friendly despite a busy dinner time rush. I liked it so much I got take-out the next day! This time I ordered the tikka masala and onion bhaji, both of which were very delicious! Definitely eager to try their lunch buffet now. Would highly recommend as a great option for Indian food inside the loop!

Yelp
The food is always excellent. The service the ambience is top-of-the-line. And the places really clean. I've been going there for years and I'll continue to do it.

Yelp
Love the owner, Mickey. So hospitable and fun. The chicken korma is our favorite! The mixed grill is SO tasty with a great variety of meats! Butter Chicken is SO good too! Service is excellent!!

Alex R.

Yelp
This is by far the best Indian spot I've found in Houston since my neighborhood favorite Nirvana Indian Restaurant closed down after Covid. The lunch buffet cannot be beat! It's an incredible deal for delicious food. My personal faves were chicken tikki masala and the rice pudding. I've been here more than ten times and I will continue to rave about this place and bring my friends!
google avatar

Cielo M.

Yelp
One of my go-to Indian spots in Montrose. Literally everything I've tried there is delicious. Also, the owner and staff are so sweet and accommodating. It's good for groups as well as intimate date nights. If you're with a group of 3-4, I suggest you get the dinner for two. It's more than enough!
google avatar

L B.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this restaurant for years. It was nice that we didn't need reservations and it's conveniently located. I had butter chicken. The chicken was cooked just right & tender. The sauce was good & had just the right amount of spice for me. I've given up on Aga's because I keep getting bones cut up in my butter chicken, but I do like their sauce a little more there. I think it is slightly sweeter. My husband really enjoyed his biryani. Our favorite was the garlic naan. Service was good but they didn't refill my husband's iced tea. Atmosphere was nice, not too loud. Very quaint design.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent service. I went recently with a group and am glad I did. The restaurant is nicely decorated and feels like a great place to share a meal together. I ordered the reshmi kabab, and some of my friends ordered the dinner for one. Everyone very much enjoyed their meal. You'll have to forgive the bite taken in my picture: it looked too good to wait.
google avatar

Sonia C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Houston. I had the Baingan Bhartha, Biryani Rice, and Onion Kulcha. The food was very good. If you like it spicy, you should probably request that. None of the items we ordered were spicy, but they were all good. I definitely recommend the place, and will try the Malai Kofta next time!
google avatar

Yelp
Khyber is one of my new go-tos for Indian food. I recently tried it for dinner on a Saturday night at around 8p and was so satisfied with the experience. We were seated immediately and the service was very quick--we ordered the Dawat Dinner for Two, and it was plenty of food. The Dawat Dinner for Two came with some grilled meats (tandoori chicken, shrimp, and some ground red meat), curry lamb, chicken masala, saag paneer, daal, pulao, naan, and salad. The grilled meats were delish, and I couldn't stop eating the saag paneer, it was so buttery, rich, and creamy. The chicken masala curry was super creamy and flavorful as well. The daal was yummy, and like the saag paneer it was pretty filling despite being a veggie dish. The flavors of the curry lamb were *chef's kiss*. Our server was so nice and attentive! I really enjoyed my experience at Khyber and I am dying to go again. Parking situation: on-site
google avatar

Hiromi K.

Yelp
Everything was very good. Great service . I ordered the chicken butter absolutely delicious, and what a big surprise that it already comes with nahm bread , rice and a portion of veggies. You also can enjoy beer and they have a good variety of wines. I'm coming back.

Yelp
TL;DR One of the only buffets worth anything in a town full of actual garbage buffets, Khyber North has delicious food, nice and attentive people working service, and has a modern feeling to the ambience. Whereas every buffet is -10 stars, this place is 5 stars for buffets! I have had nothing but awful, terrible, atrocious experiences with garbage, infuriating, disgusting buffets and cafeterias in this area that has made me skeptical and pessimistic of anything buffet related. I came in here and I smelled that familiar smell of dishes cleaned with industrial cleaners-- something I hate when it comes to such places. Abominable, even, due to my experiences. I sit down in spite and make it clear I'm not getting anything. Our group orders wine... which was amazing. A white wine. Forgot the name. Then my mother opted to make me try one of their "doughnut" ball desserts... Oh my God it was delightful. I broke and went to get their grilled chicken, Chicken Tikka, their Lamb, their rice... I bit down full of skeptical assuming I am wasting money... and I was proven WRONG. WHAT?! A BUFFET WITH GREAT FOOD?! AM I HAVING A STROKE?! I bit down more and I devoured my plate. It was impressively good! So enjoyable! Their naan bread is also very enjoyable! Well buttered and cooked... seasoned very well! So good!!! Man... Again, the food was good! Combine with naan bread and BOOM! FLAVOR TOWN, BROTHER! Oh, but also: Service. There is a man named... Hafiz? Hafeez? (Pronounced "Hah-feez") that I assume is the manager constantly on the prowl to make sure everyone was cleaned up and that the food was fresh and good! Great guy! Well done!!!

Yelp
We had an unwelcomed guest join us last night for dinner. My friend and I had high expectations for Khyber after she read about the restaurant in Texas Monthly. We ordered the two person special and were enjoying our meal. 20 minutes into our meal my friend looks petrified. I'm looking around the place expecting to see someone robbing people. I asked her what's wrong. She grabs her phone, texts me " A roach just ran across the table." A tiny cockroach crawls up onto her plate and literally mocks us. I motion for the waiter and tell him "an uninvited guest has joined us." I point to her plate. The roach then jumps off, scurries onto the table, waiter grabs a white tablecloth from the neighboring table and scoops up the uninvited guest. As you could imagine, our appetites are ruined. The check comes, no discount. The waiter dips, I guess his shift was ending. We were planning on tipping him still. He was attentive. It wasn't his fault. I saw him speaking to who I am guessing was the owner or at least management before he presented the check. One would think they would have at least knocked off the appetizer, but no. Not one apology from management. It's obvious that we will never be back.

Yelp
Great service, welcoming kind staff, awesome food, our 'go to' always for great consistent Indian food....

Yelp
Delicious food, great atmosphere, excellent service. Hafiz is the best! We loved the baingan bhartha which he recommended to us.

Yelp
Just had an Indian buffet & the food was DELICIOUS!!. The place is very nicely done with plenty of seating. The staff is very friendly. BAINGAN BHARTHA is OUTSTANDING!!. I would definitely recommend the restaurant for the family to enjoy!

Perry C.

Yelp
Amazing Indian food. The best I've had actually. Their customer service is absolutely incredible I would definitely come back. The are very sweet and friendly. I ordered what they recommended to me and ended up with a lamb dish and it was a 10/10. They know their stuff and their adorable!!! Ps. Get a Taj Mahal Beer.

Dave L.

Yelp
Really great food and the staff were extremely pleasant and on the case. I had the vindaloo with rice and nan plus a starter. All of it is highly recommended and all this from a very small by flexible menu.

Yelp
Went here today for lunch buffet after going frequently in past but not going for a while recently. Service was friendly. Decent selection on buffet with the expected dishes such as chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, dal, vegetable curry, etc. Fairly tastey but lacked depth of flavor that I prefer. My key concern was temperature of food on buffet. Luke warm (with exception of veggie curry) so definitely not held above standard 140F safe temperature which can lead to issues. Naan too was sub-par as thickness of each one varied from side to side. One side too thick and seemingly undercooked. Other side too thin and overly crispy.
google avatar

Allan M.

Yelp
Best Indian food in Houston in my option. The owner is a great creator of fine food with perfect taste. Been my place for many many years for Indian food and great service. Must read his outdoor signs, then read the restaurant to either side of him, you will get a laugh! I love coming for the buffet, but if no buffet, they got some perfect combo dishes that let you try it all out! Check out the Naym bread stuffed with flavor!

Yelp
Fantastic lunch and excellent service. My wife and I don't live in Houston, however we visit often and this reaturaunt has become a must stop. Wonderful experience all around.

Yelp
Authentic very real and absolutely delicious India dishes. It's so good. Perfect spices and high quality. Solid menu. The staff is all legit India, our waitress 1 year here from India. Loved the entire dinner. Nice environment and very on top of it staff. As good and real as Kerin, just half the price. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Did not know that it was only buffet at lunch. However it worked well and we got to try several menu items. Would recommend for a quick lunch.

Yelp
The short brown manager referred to my table as "disrespectful blacks" and said "Donald trump forever" with a raised fist. Isn't that funny? He's brown as well haha! I had a very bad & racist experience here. My table was served by the short old manager and the rude indian lady. When it was time to pay, we had a simple question for the server but he was very arrogant with us. He told my table to "eat at McDonald's", referred to us as "disrespectful blacks" and said "Donald trump forever" with a raised fist. I'm not sure he realised he's a brown person too haha! How funny is that? The food was nothing to write home about. I've had better Indian food. It tasted like nothing, I WOULD NOT recommend. Food & service= 0

Yelp
This review is long overdue. Khyber was the very first restaurant we tried when we moved here a year ago. We moved from Alabama where there were only a handful of Indian restaurants to choose from. You can only imagine how overwhelmed we were with all the choices for eating out in Houston, but finally made it back to Khyber last month and it was exactly as we remembered. The ambiance was perfect for a couple's night out, the food was outstanding and the owner and staff are pleasant and welcoming. We ordered the Daawat Dinner for two ( just like the first time) so we got a mix of many offerings. The wine that was suggested paired perfectly with our meal. You won't be disappointed, give them a try.

Yelp
Our "go to" for Indian food. This is northern Indian food so it is not as spicy as your traditional Indian restaurant - but there is flavor, some spice and quality ingredients. Hubs and I share the Dinner for 2 - plenty of food and we always have left overs to enjoy the next day. We have also shared the Mughali Korma (lamb) - best korma sauce ever. Service is attentive and the food is consistently very, very good.
