Florida’s Hotel Selection Is Starting to Sizzle

"The fourth Kimpton hotel in the greater Miami area is the Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach, which stands discreetly along the banks of Collins Canal, in the Sunset Harbour neighborhood on the Biscayne Bay–facing side of the island. In the typical Kimpton manner the Palomar is attractive, but wears its stylishness lightly, and goes out of its way to feel approachable." - Mark Fedeli

The Best Things We Ate This Week

"Torcia Nera Osteria Morini is an Italian restaurant from New York that just opened a location in South Beach. And despite the fact that the phrase “restaurant from New York” is starting to make me feel the way some people do when they hear the word “moist,” I stopped by to check them out. And the pasta is pretty good. I got a few, but ended up really liking the torcia nera, which is squid ink pasta with seppia and shrimp ragù. This place is in a hotel in South Beach, so brace for steep prices and a touristy crowd, but if you’re a lover of pasta, it’s worth a trip here eventually." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

10 of the Most Anticipated U.S. Hotel Openings of 2019 - AFAR

"A newly built five-story modern hotel on Collins Canal adjacent to Sunset Harbour, this property eschews local art-deco cues for a glassy, luxury-liner silhouette and places 96 rooms around a central atrium to maximize natural light. Signature amenities include in-room yoga mats and premium bath products, while a glam, canopy-inspired rooftop pool and a canal-side restaurant aim to integrate the hotel into the South Beach scene." - Sandra Ramani

The hotel is generally nice given some of its amenities. The hotel staff are mediocre with customer service. Although the parking guys were pretty nice. Front desk did not explain to me that there is a resort fee, or a "guest amenity fee" when I arrived. I was open to the overnight parking, at $49 a night- I stayed three nights. But they offer only valet parking so you cannot park your own car. It just would be nice for places to explain some of these fees beforehand. Also, the deposit is based on the nights that you stay there. The room I stayed in was pretty small. It was barely enough room for two people. Overall, I'm not sure I would stay here unless I was planning on spending a lot of time in my hotel or in the South Beach area, I did however spend a lot of time in other areas of Miami so I wasn't able to enjoy a lot of the amenities they offer. Next time I would just book a hotel outside of South Beach, where there is no resort fee to save money. Lastly, the pool is only open from sun up to sundown. I think this might be the case with other hotels, but it was a little inconvenient when I wanted to go for a night or early morning swim.

My stay two weeks ago was the best experience I’ve had in a while, the staff at the hotel is amazing, very friendly and make you feel welcome and comfortable. I wanna give special kudos to Rolando who worked with us for the wine, the sangria was delicious! He was very professional, attentive and pleasant to talk to! Also there was a problem with the AC but Brian helped right away and this improved our experience by far. The fact that their staff is so quick to solve any problem and they always answered all of my questions with a smile. Will definitely staying here again once I come back to South Beach!

We stayed in this hotel for 8 nights, from start to finish it was superb! The location was great, a few minutes walk from shops/restaurants and all you needed! The reception on arrival was friendly and polite, the room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The room maids went above and beyond and I can’t praise them enough! Every day our room was kept lovely as the first day we arrived, and they never disrupted us! A credit to the hotel! The roof top pool was also very nice, never to busy, and the staff up there were again, top notch, could order food and drinks up there as easy as downstairs and was always brought to you with a smile! The food as well was very tasty and enjoyable! All in all the stay was amazing and we would not hesitate to come back to the Kimpton Palomar again!

From the time we walked in to reception to checking out, my experience was fabulous! Let’s also make mention that their coffee in the ground level cafe/restaurant was premium! The service was top level, as were the cleanliness, comfort and quality of the room. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Plus! The access to Denise the shuttle driver was fantastic service as well. Denise couldn’t do enough and it was all connected to the hotel. The experience here is night and day in comparison to so many other places. Thank you!

Google
The room was spacious and spotless, and the rooftop pool was fantastic — a great place to relax and unwind. It's close to good restaurants. However, the front desk experience at check-in was disappointing. The staff member who checked me in simply handed me a key card without offering any information about the hotel amenities. When I later came back to ask about the location and hours of restaurant, pool, and fitness room, he barely looked up and told me to read the welcome letter. I said I hadn’t received one, so he gave me a flyer — which, after reading, still didn’t include any location details. When I told him I was still unsure, he reluctantly explained it verbally. Throughout the interaction, he remained focused on his screen and barely made eye contact. When I asked about how to get to the beach, his only reply was that the address was on the welcome letter. He looked very impatient like I was some trouble. That said, every other staff member I interacted with was incredibly friendly and helpful — especially the restaurant team and the valet. They really made the rest of the stay enjoyable.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Very clean Hotel with many things available. But the best part of my experience was the customer service. Johnee was very patient and an amazing representative of Hyatt. Sherri was absolutely wonderful. She went above and beyond to help not just me but other guests as well. Sherri definitely made my whole experience and I will definitely come back to this location because of her and her wonderful staff.

I booked a resort pass for the day to make use of the roof top pool. It was very comfortable, great views, lots of space to sit and though the pool itself was quite small, it was perfect for me. I want to shout out Leo from the roof top bar for being very hospitable and kind.

Just wrapped up a long-overdue family girls trip, and the Kimpton Palomar Miami delivered in every way!| • Warm welcome & stylish vibes: From the chic lobby to the airy rooms with those Instagram-ready bay views, the hotel felt equal parts boutique-cool and relaxed-luxury—exactly what we hoped for.| • Pool & rooftop moments: Morning coffee by the rooftop pool, sunset cocktails at the bar—10/10 ambiance. Plenty of loungers, fluffy towels, and zero stress about “saving” seats.| • Location: Quick rides to Wynwood, Brickell, and South Beach without the constant bustle right outside your door. Great balance of action and retreat.| • Service that wowed us:| • Miguel with the hotel staff and Denise on the shuttle team are absolute rockstars. They made every ride feel VIP—offering flawless restaurant tips, extra bottled water after a long day, and genuine conversation that felt like old friends. Timing was spot-on; we never waited more than a couple of minutes.| • Front-desk and valet staff echoed the same upbeat, can-do attitude throughout the stay.||Pro tip: Take advantage of the complimentary bikes in the morning and the evening wine hour—both nice perks that stretch the vacation budget.||Bottom line: The Palomar paired stellar service with boutique flair and made our mother-daughter-sister weekend unforgettable. We’ll be back—and we’re telling everyone to ask for Miguel and Denise!

Yelp
We stayed here for a long weekend in January. Most of the front desk staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The valets were great. The location is somewhat convenient in that it's within walking distance to the Lincoln Road shops. The roof pool is nice. But the immediate surroundings are pretty ugly, on a very busy street, with views of a commercial storage space, a dialysis center, and other depressing sights. The lobby is tiny and there is no bar. You feel like you're in a garage, and you sort of are. The restaurant service is very limited. The street noise is there, but it's tolerable. We reserved a room with a king bed and (after arriving late due to flight delays) were given one with a queen. They moved us the next day. The new room was fine. What made our last night pretty bad, however, was a terrible noise from the roof. I believe it was due to high winds hitting a metal structure (we were on the 5th floor, just under the roof.) It was an unbelievably loud groaning and whining that woke us at 3 a.m. and continued until we left for the airport around 6. I even recorded it, it was so loud, like a freight train in the room. We did mention it to the desk employee when we checked out but he was not very interested. I've always liked the Kimpton brand but this one wasn't great. I hear the other Kimpton closer to the beach is nicer.

Yelp
Staff goes above and beyond! I left a pair of my shoes in the car and the valet went and got them and brought them to our room. Room is clean and the shower has the best water pressure I've ever had in a hotel. Within walking distance to Lincoln Ave with all the shops and restaurants.

Yelp
The Kimpton brand of the IHG hotel chains is absolutely one of my favorites, and the hotel Palomar is no exception. This is my third time staying at this hotel, and, undoubtedly, my favorite hotel in SoBe. It is far enough removed from the hustle and bustle of South Beach by being on Alton Road, but a quick 15 minute walk will get you right into the center of all the action. The customer service received from Isabel and Reggie were top tier! I also love that they provide hot tea and coffee from 7 AM to 11 AM and, they have oat milk as a non-dairy creamer! Also, during the Christmas holiday, they have a hot chocolate bar - with marshmallows and candy canes! Small touches that make it so intimate and personal, which I love and make a stay excellent. The beds are super plush and the shower pressure. Excellent! Also big shout out to Denise, who drives the free mile-circumference shuttle. She is so engaging and funny. The only drawback, and the reason for four stars, is because the delicious restaurant on site is now closed. They did share however, a new restaurant is coming, so I will be sure to check that out upon my return to this very hotel when I return to Miami Beach.

Yelp
Love, love this hotel. Just 2 blocks from Lincoln Street, the pedestrian walking mall. The staff are so nice, clean room, free wine happy hour 5-6 in the lobby, the coolest infinity roof top pool and a huge rooftop deck. I love love this hotel!

Yelp
Had a very bad and frustrating experience as a visitor to this hotel due to being overcharged for valet. I am a Miami local who brought my kids to visit my cousin and his kids who were staying here. I called ahead to this hotel to ask about valet pricing and was told visitor pricing was $29. When I arrived, I explicitly asked the valet again how much for 4 hours or less of visitor parking (not overnight). I was told $29. I was not given a curfew or a time to leave when that would change. When I went to leave 3 hours and 20 minutes later and went to pay my valet, I was told by a different valet that it would be $59 just because I stayed 20 minutes past 11 - as I was leaving the hotel with my kids to head home - clearly not doing an overnight. I protested this but they refused to lower my amount to what they had originally told me. So I paid the $59 they forced me to pay. Nice way to treat a local.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place near the beach, lively vibes, some food and drinks - this is your spot! You'd be surprised how little spots on the beach walkway allow passerby's to eat/drink and just stay. This place does let you do that! They have good "beach side" drinks. And a pretty good food menu - what you'd expect from a poolside menu. Nothing is great individually, but the whole package is, if that makes sense. Drinks, good. Food, good. Location, great. All adds up to a great find near Miami Beach.

Yelp
Excellent experience. Very clean and well maintained property. Friendly and attentive staff. Small but clean and well maintained fitness center. Free coffee in the mornings. Far enough from the hustle and bustle of ocean drive to give you a quiet and peaceful home base, but close enough so that it's easy to walk to or take a quick rideshare to nearby attractions. Would hundred percent recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to stay on Miami Beach.

Yelp
The balcony/views were the most disappointing part, however the front desk concierge, Catalina did an excellent job of accommodating my friends and I while we were there. I hated being so close to the street so she moved me to the highest floor possible. She was so friendly and ready to tend to my every need! This is definitely the type of service I look for wherever I go. The restaurant Morini, attached next door to the hotel was also a great spot. Delicious food and drinks! Valet was quick and efficient. Overall I was pleased with my stay. And I have Catalina to thank for it!

Yelp
I checked in today for a 4-night stay - I'm a regular, I know the neighborhood well, and I am familiar with the property. I've stayed here a couple dozen times since it opened. To my surprise, the front desk did not have my reservation. At check in, Isabelle said they were having IT issues and lost my reservation, were fully booked, and that I would have to pay the on-site rate, 3x the price I paid weeks in advance, to get a room category below my booking. She said I would be refunded eventually for my original booking (which was magically confirmed during this conversation). About 45 minutes later, waiting in the lobby and calling corporate the entire time, Isabelle finally "found" my reservation, but I was placed in an inferior room. Im now here for 4 nights/5 days and not getting what I paid for, horrible service and no desire to correct horrible experience mistakes, and they won't even let me cancel and go somewhere else. Steer clear of this one. There's nothing like flying across the country to be turned away from your pre booked, prepaid, and confirmed hotel.

Lexi C.

Yelp
Awful experience here. The second my husband and I were greeted it was a bad experience. They don't uphold their policies and they don't treat their customers with kindness. I've never had such a terrible experience in a hotel. I would never return and suggest you don't waste your money somewhere like this.

Yelp
Disappointment. We booked on Priceline for a standard room. We paid 400 a night compared to website for 520 a night. We decided to do Priceline as it as an option for any travel. We were met with poor care and lack of services due to our "room booked" per Ken at the front desk. When asked to speak with the building manager we were told our request could not be handled this weekend. We were placed in a segregated room where we did not receive ample services " we contacted about needed a room cleaned went to the roof top for 2 hours and then not cleaned. We needed to shower with wet and damp towels. We were told unfortunately because you booked on Priceline you get what you paid for. Please see the attached videos of the issues. Ray and I attempted to call customer services 18006210555 Ken Milan - unable 10503439363 complain

Yelp
As IHG members we usually book with Kimpton Palomar hotels because they never disappoint. Conveniently located on Alton Rd & Dade Blvd near restaurants & shopping. The hotel is very clean and staff is awesome! Every single staff member we encountered, was extremely attentive and accommodating. Our room had a spacious city view balcony with a small table & 2 chairs making our mornings pleasant, a small fridge and snacks for an additional cost. It features a rooftop pool but unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy it since our motive was to be at the beach. There's a restaurant connected to the hotel's lobby and we were surprised to get 15% off our bill as hotel guests. We wanted to explore the city on our 1st night, we exited on Alton Rd by valet parking, walked to the right (South) towards 17th St and were happy to find Lincoln Rd Shopping Mall just 2 lights down on the left hand side. Also, Ocean Dr is about 1.5 miles away so we walked to the beach a lot. Overall, we had a great experience at this Kimpton Palomar and will stay here when we visit Miami Beach again.

Yelp
Very nice and clean hotel. Comes up with all the supplies for a traveler. The place is very relaxing and nice if you are looking for a brief stay in Miami Beach. Parking is a bit hard and they didn't have parking so you have to park on the street and pay. The receptionist are very accommodating and ensured my stay was great. I left in the morning and I was very satisfied with my stay. The one bedroom room is super small but is also basic and has everything you need. I booked the 2 bed one which was spacious and relaxing. They had a nice magnifying mirror so I'll give them 5 stars.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. I wasn't expecting this great of an experience but, I couldn't leave without leaving a review about my amazing stay here. From check-in to check-out, the front desk team member Marc was extremely hospitable. From early check in, a full rundown of service & a complimentary bottle of wine, the check-in process couldn't have been more of a breeze. The hotel is almost brand new & definitely reflects in the ambiance. The rooftop pool & lounge area was definitely the best part. Everything was very clean, beds comfortable & proper social distancing measures were in place. Access to the beach club is amazing. It's a short 4 minute Uber to the sister property. You get 2 beach chairs, towels & beach service. Lastly, the convenience of this location was great. It's a short 2 blocks to Lincoln Mall. Next to a Publix, Trader Joe's, Fresh Market & Walgreens. Beautiful park 3 blocks away. Abundance of restaurants in the area. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking for an luxurious but affordable stay.

Yelp
We often stay at Kimpton hotels given the free coffee hour in the morning till 10 AM and the free daily wine happy hour from 5 to 6 PM. There are many kimpton to choose from in the city of Miami Beach however we chose this one given the good price approximately $200 per night as well as the location being a little bit tucked away from the downtown South Beach craziness. Be aware that it is quite a walk about 15 to 20 minutes to be downtown by the water but that was OK for us. The pool is quite a private experience which is lovely. The staff at the front desk were mediocre at best and reluctant to upgrade us for free this is the first time I've been met with resistance at a Kimpton but nevertheless to not fight it. The room is very clean however it is showing its age unfortunately. It is quite odd that they don't come with coffee makers and you have to ask for them but that wasn't a big deal. Showers are really important where we stay the showerhead is from the 1900s and definitely could be upgraded given the price you're paying I think they failed to be detailed oriented we may consider saying here in the future but there are many other options.

Yelp
Great hotel with a nice rooftop pool within steps of great restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. They offer complimentary coffee in the morning and wine at night. The on-site restaurant is excellent but you cannot charge to the roof. Valet services were great as were all bartenders. The only negative is there is no room service or coffee makers in the room.

Yelp
We will NEVER stay at this awful hotel again. The hotel is dirty and the rooms are the smallest most useless rooms I have ever experienced. The staff is terrible especially Genesis. Cold and uninvitung. She does not care about customer service at all. Not worth the price. Total rip-off. Very misleading pictures online. This is basically a Motel 6. This was booked through HotelTonight.com which I wish I would have researched beforehand. They are just as unhelpful as this place. So many bad reviews!

Abby L.

Yelp
The front desk people are incredibly unhelpful. The entire hotel is awful do not stay here.

Esther W.

Yelp
It's a very mediocre hotel. I should have read all the reviews. Price is average, the decorations average, the cleanliness is average. Problem is the rooms are small and the service is pretty bad. They just don't seem to really care, almost as if you are inconveniencing them. I booked a water front view and I got a city view. When I spoke with the front desk, she said they only have one room with the view they posted online. She enlarged the picture on my phone and pointed at the sliver of water on the far left of my screen and said "see.... That's water". I'm not 3 years old to know what water is and I'm from CA! She didn't seem concerned that I mentioned a bad review too. Book as long as you know what you are getting into.

Jose S.

Yelp
I've stayed in this hotel 6 times. All the staff are friendly & kind. The Manager, Fernando is amazing, simply the best, and on top of that, he's easy on the eye. Highly recommended the hotel
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful spot! With ample views of the bay or the city, this place is a joy to be. The decor is hip & modern. The service is top notch. Rooms, hallways, and equipment are all in great condition. Parking is only available via valet, so the cost for the room is slightly deceiving, but worth it. There are many great places to eat very close by, and Trader Joe's is right across the street!

Yelp
What I enjoyed about this hotel was the location, its not in any of the over-populated areas, its off beat in town, which means nice quiet nights of sleep. I was upgraded to a room that faced other buildings, so I didn't have street noise. The AC can go low, which keeps the room nice and cool during Miamis heat and humidity periods. The walk to the Art Deco district was about 25m, didn't seem that long if you walk thru the Lincoln Street Mall which is only a 5 min walk. There are city buses that pick up nearby for service to Downtown Miami and a fare free trolley shuttle that can save some of the walking. I didn't use it, but I understand there is a shuttle to a beachfront property of theirs if you want to hang out on the beach. What I didn't like, the service isn't friendly, which I discovered to be the norm for Miami as a whole. Like others have echoed here, its like you inconvenience them when you need anything. I stayed on points, they still charged me a resort/destination fee which is not the norm across the IHG brand. I tried contacting the hotel and never got a response, contacted Kimpton, the hotel told them they emailed me when they really didn't. Had to dispute the charges thru my credit card company. This is NOT good service. I stayed at 5 other Kimpton properties this year when moving across the country and all of them had way better service, and it set the standard. This hotel doesn't even come close to that standard, I honestly wish Kimpton would drop them from the family because they don't live up to the quality you would normally get at other Kimpton locations. It is cheaper to stay here, maybe good service isn't included in the price, keep that in mind.

Chiara A.

Yelp
I booked this hotel using Priceline Pricebuster, where they give you 3 hotel options. Instantly after you pay Priceline shows you the hotel that you will be staying at, and mine was the Kimpton. I immediately went to Yelp + Google for some reviews and pictures but then got nervous because of the bad reviews. Let me get to the point... THIS HOTEL WAS AMAZING! I booked this hotel for my birthday and I left over satisfied. PROS: * My flight landed at 9am. I called the hotel and was able to check in early with no extra charge @ 9am instead of the usual 3pm time. * I requested a balcony, they informed me my room already had one. * My room was huge and well lit, with a mini fridge * Self controled air conditioner that goes down to 65 * Thursday-Sunday there is a free shuttle to/from the Beach. The shuttle can also take you to the shopping areas like Lincoln rd mall and Collins * Free beach chairs and towels comes with the room * ROOFTOP POOL AND PATIO AREA!!! There's plenty of seating and lounge chairs * Very nice staff (ask for Mark or JJ they both are amazing and super kind) * restaurant with full bar and a DJ on Sunday for brunch CONS: * no microwave * the view is of the city streets not an ocean * not enough hangers Extra fees: * resort fee * $150 deposit required that's returned to you (this is normal tho) So basically, if you have been to South Beach before and do not care to be directly ON THE BEACH because ur simply not 21 or a first time tourist, I would highly recommend this hotel. I loved the location because it's still on the island vs being downtown. Uber's can find it easily and get you to the ocean in less than 7 mins (or use the shuttle to save $$). If you want to walk outside to the beach do not book this hotel, but I think it's worth it for the price.

The Altar O.

Yelp
On planning my honeymoon. We wanted a beachfront property. I called this property asking if they were on the beach. Was told yes. On arrival, I discovered it was not so, The property was a good distance from the beach and the only view in my room was the street and city line. I was told that parking was $25.00 per night. On arrival was told it was $50.00 per night. When I tried to cancel based on the fact that it was not what we wanted was told we would lose $250.00 or a 1-night stay amount. These evil people just wanted money from us. it did not matter that they were destroying our special occasion. The bed was terrible beating against the building every time we moved. it felt like a cheap motel. Terrible people don;t go there

Yelp
Very disappointed in this location. The staff was incredibly unhelpful and cold. The room was dirty and smaller than pictured. Very misleading. Genesis the manager didn't even attempt to help me with my reservation. Booked through HotelTonight. Won't make this mistake again.

Yelp
Super disappointing property! The website is totally misleading. We decided to change properties and go to the Surfcomber. I stay at Kimpton hotels all over the country and this was just a sad, sad experience...the only thing "Kimpton" about this property is the name and the signature scent as you walk in the lobby. The restaurant is nice but was closed when we arrived. The room itself is nice and clean enough...BUT this is NOT a waterfront property. Nor is there private beach access at this location. It's totally misleading and false advertising if you ask me. It would be way more truthful if they advertised this as a business traveler's hotel situated close the the Convention Center and AWAY from the busy Miami nightlife and beaches. The entire reason I booked my stay here was because of the "private beach access" and "close walking distance to shops/nightlife". Furthermore I trusted the Kimpton name. I've stayed at Kimpton hotels with the same price point in places like Santa Ynez CA, Santa Barbara, San Diego, New York City....none of them look or feel like this. Here's the TRUTH: - Yes the hotel is on the harbor BUT this property is across the street from a Plumbing & Electrical supply in, what feels like, a commercial business / convention center / industrial area - The "waterfront" is not the beach...it's not even the harbor. It's a stretch of canal water under a cement facade bridge. Not attractive. - The "private beach access" is almost a mile away at the sister property, Kimpton Surfcomber - Our "city view" room had the terribly ugly view of a cement roof and air conditioning tower units. (See pictures) - most hotels in Miami have a resort fee. But by no means is this hotel resort style. It's much more a business commuter hotel in cement not-so-heaven. - the rooftop pool is marginal at best, with more views of cement roofs and only a couple city/water vistas - there is NO juice bar as advertised on website. I asked the front desk if it was closed due to Covid and the front desk ladies looked like deer in headlights. "We don't have a juice bar," they explained. DISCLAIMER: This is my first time to Miami. I am quickly realizing that if you want a resort style vacation, you have to pay a prettier penny. The ONLY way I would ever re-book here is if 1) I came on business, 2) if my company was paying for it, and 3) I needed to be close to the convention center. This is not a holiday getaway or resort style hotel AT ALL! The staff is nice...the only reason for the one star Bottom line, if you want a true resort style hotel, plan on paying $400-$600 minimum a night. The beach and nightlife is all along Collins and Ocean Ave. If that's what you want, that's where you need to stay. WELCOME TO MIAMI!

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel I was very disappointed because 3 months prior I paid for the grand terrace info when I arrived it was not available they told me that it was a computer glitch or error I believe they overbooked it so I had to settle for a room that I did not want There is no microwave in any of the rooms Yes the staff was pleasant the driver Denise was the best but I was very disappoint With them giving me another room After my room was paid and full at the time I made the reservation More than likely I will not stay back at that hotel. I had 15 guests staying there....

Yelp
The worst phone reception. I wanted to book a reservation, but after 6 calls, I was frustrated while I lost time. Even after asking all the receptionists to move their microphone, or asking them to talk louder... it was unhelpful.

Yelp
The good is that this hotel had a bottle of Segura Viudas brut cava as a welcome amenity in our room since I had indicated we were celebrating a birthday. The real reason that this amenity was left was because we had a different category room booked which we canceled within the cancellation period in favor of using our travelzoo voucher but the hotel still had that reservation in their system. Here's the bad parts. The hotel is a new hotel but already starting to show wear. The room had nothing in it to eat or drink. Not even a bottle of water for purchase. Our room faced the street and the balcony was not properly sealed so we heard all the street noises. I tried sleeping from 11-1 am but finally alerted the hotel and they were kind enough to move us to a room facing the opposing hotel which was quieter. The sister hotel Kimpton Surfcomber is much nicer but the Palomar doesn't provide transportation to it which I found strange. The lady working check out on December 24th was very dismissive. She had me wait to take pictures of her coworker by the tree before checking me out. I thought customers came first. I won't return.

Yelp
My sister and I spent a week at the Hotel Palomar. We had never been to Miami. We loved every minute of it. The minute you walk through the Palomar the hotel opens you with an airy feel. The staff greeted us with the daily wine hour (5-6pm). We were then escorted to our room. Whenever I book a hotel I'm always worried about how well I will sleep. You never want to be on vacation and be awake all night. Each night at hotel Palomar I knew I was going to be able to sleep peacefully. The room was the most quiet hotel room I have slept in. It had its own private patio with chairs to enjoy the sun with a little more privacy. The air conditioning kept the room nice and chilly while the sun glared on outside. The bathroom had a walk in shower with large bottles of conditioner, shampoo, and body wash. All of these cleansers smelt lemony and fresh. The towels were very soft and plentiful. The closet in the room had two robes to wear after showers. It also had plenty of hangers for clothing. The bedding was heavy, but very comfortable. There were two things that set the Palomar apart from other hotels. First would be the rooftop. Wow! It was equipped with a pool, cabanas and grassed area. Before the pool was a bar which was still in the process of being opened. The ocean bay peaked through parts of the rooftop. The lounge chairs (paired with optional umbrellas) were spaced out and extremely comfortable. They provide towels on the rooftop so you don't have to bring any from your room. The rooftop was our favorite spot in the hotel. The second and most impressive aspect of the hotel was the staff. Fernando and Marc helped us in multiple ways throughout our stay. They coordinated transportation to the sister hotel which is along the beach and allowed a late checkout due to a flight cancellation. The rest of the staff from the cleaning staff to the maintenance people were amazing. Make sure to stay at the Hotel Palomar whenever you get a chance. A short drive to the beaches for the value of this hotel is worth it!

Yelp
I'm giving this hotel an overly generous star. We stayed there Halloween night in the middle of the pandemic (which was also our anniversary). We asked for a late check out and we were told, "We're COMPLETELY booked, but you can call the front desk in the morning and ask for a late check out". I want everyone to know that without a shadow of a doubt, we were only 2 of only a VERY few guests at the hotel that evening. We had no other guests to either side of our room. Additionally I'm a fact checker, so I checked to see if they were "booked full". They were absolutely not. One would think them grateful for ANY good business whilst this pandemic is taking its toll on our economy, but we felt pushed out on an occasion that was supposed to be very special for us. To add to this, THERE WAS NO COFFEE MAKER IN OUR ROOM (1st hotel I've EVER stayed at that didn't). THE HOTEL ALSO CHARGES AN OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT TO PARK IN THEIR LOT. $40-$50 PER DAY, AND NO, IT DOESN'T INCLUDE ONE THING THAT WOULD JUSTIFY CHARGING THAT MUCH. We felt ripped off, and we will never stay there again unless they MAJORLY level up on their customer service- and even then I'd think twice! Shame on you, IHG hotels! I hope that I save a plethora of your good customers the burden of dealing with you. Thank the Vacation Gods for social media!!!

Yelp
This last minute reservation turned out to be the best experience! I was looking for a place to stay where my pup was also welcome, well look no further. The service, attention to detail, and staff were absolutely amazing! They welcomed my pup with a doggy bed, treats, and bowl. The rooftop pool area was perfect, with additional lounging areas. Music to set the tone. Towels and seat covers were always readily available. They offer free bike rentals so you can cruise the beach. Also, shuttle you over to their sister site (Kimpton Surf comber Hotel) where you can enjoy the out door tiki bar or complimentary beach chairs and umbrella out on the sand. Any request was a text away and immediately you'd receive a follow up response. I look forward to returning and highly recommend checking out this place. Sending a warm thank you again to front desk staff; Fernando, Karen, and Marc!

Yelp
Me and my friend bought a day pass to enjoy the pool & amenities. Get to the pool and there is no bar or any access to get drinks or food. The restaurant in the lobby doesn't open till 4. They told us to go get alcohol at the liq store across the street. Buzz kill. We then get back and there are no chairs at the very small pool. Pretty much got bamboozled on this and very disappointed we even spent any $$. Will not be returning. Lackluster of anything really

Yelp
This is a very modern and eclectic hotel. The rooms are clean and the king mattress is like sleeping on a cloud. Get a balcony room for a relaxing stay. The beach is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. There are of stores within walking distance to buy food and essentials. Hotel staff are friendly and provide excellent service (especially Genesis). The rooftop pool area is amazingly clean and provides an view of the ocean. I definitely recommend this hotel for your next Miami stay!

Yelp
Best tasting Cappuccino in South Beach with outstanding service, wirth the walk from Lincoln Roand x Alton Rd

Yelp
The service at the Kimpton was horrible. Check in took 25-30 mins due to a staff member Camilo not knowing what to do or what was going on. We had to have someone else come and assist him and that wasn't even enough. The hotel amenities lack luster and request anything from the front desk was like pulling teeth. The best thing was that the room was nice and the balcony, but otherwise it was a shit show. Now I'm charged $1800 for a 2 day stay at a nightly rate of $177. This hotel needs staff trained to speak English as proficient as Spanish is spoken, but not only language- class. I highly recommend you take your money else where!

Yelp
Day Pass reservation turned into my forever go to Hotel stay when visiting. My sig other an I purchased a day pass for this hotel. We actually stayed at an AirBnB and just wanted the pool experience. Due to COVID you had to be a hotel guest in order to use the day pass. Boy did they accommodate. They provided us with a complimentary room for the day/night at no additional charge. While there the staff was very attentive from the moment we walked though the door. They definitely went to the same staff training as Chick Fil-A.

Yelp
Checked in during COVID 19. Everyone has been pleasant and accommodating. The interactions over the phone have been welcoming. All of our request were handled in a timely fashion. Our room was on the fifth floor facing the bay. The linen and flooring was cleaned and up to par. The rooftop pool is very relaxing and enjoyable place to lounge.

Yelp
WORST HOTEL EVER, AVOID STAYING HERE! Room next door played loud music all weekend. Complained several times at front desk which did not help. At 2am on a Sunday, the front desk told us that there's nothing they can do but ask to lower the music and refused to ask them to stop the music. We were up all night and the front desk did not care. I deeply regret staying here. Do yourself a favor and go stay elsewhere.

Yelp
We brought desserts back from a grocery store and quietly sat on the outside patio right outside the lobby door, not the restaurant door, after dusk. Restaurant manager came out and told us it was the restaurant and we couldn't eat there. News for him: I join the other hotel patrons andI wouldn't eat at his 20% full restaurant anyway.

Yelp
I recently stayed at Hotel Palomar, the check experience was awful the layout of the hotel lobby is extremely awkward. Upon checking in there was a guest complaining of his stay 1st red flag. The front desk Staff member who checked me in was very incompetent, had me enter my card into the card machine several time. Also there is a $150 incidental hold per night an additional to the "resort fee" with that being said the restaurant on site was closed 2 out of 3 nights I stayed with no explanation. I found brown skin like matter in the sheets of the bed, at eye level table had cup rings and smudges, the floor had visible dust and debris I also find strands of hair In the shower. I woke up every morning to excessive construction noise hammering, drilling, and tinkering I could also Hear very loud and clear the people above me talking through the bathroom vent. I notified the hotel manager I was told my first night would be taken care of I checked my bank statement I to I was still fully charged, I called and spoke a male "guest service" manager and I was told in a very dismissive and condescending tone there was nothing they could do about it because it was booked through booking.com. Absolutely horrible experience from the start. I don't not recommend. I would also like to add Elliah the front desk receptionist refused to put the "manager" on the phone stating that he wasn't on the property, occupied or gone for the day.

Yelp
Oh Kimpton Palomar, I came here with high hopes for you but you failed me. From the moment I was checking in and your manager (Genesis) said "what?" to me, to then having to call her at the front desk to let her know my room was a queen and I paid for a king, to then her telling me the new room she provided me didn't smell like a Las Vegas casino when clearly it did, without coming up and checking it herself. The entire check in process was just a horrible first impression. This isn't even counting that she didn't bother to tell me that after 3 days I can ask to schedule a room cleaning or that the hotel offers free coffee in the morning and wine during wine hour or that the hotel had a complementary shuttle to and from the beach. This is just based on her attitude of treating customers. Thankfully they have Marc (other front desk manager) there to help pick up the pieces. He was great and very professional. However, the hotel still fell short throughout the stay. The sink went down slow and there was a dog crying for over an hour one night. The rooms could use a deeper cleaning and the sheets a better wash. Overall for the price, I would definitely have looked else where. Won't be coming back to this hotel or recommending it to anyone.

Sandy L.

Yelp
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and our room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. The reason I'm giving them 3/5 is because we were disappointed with the "water view" as it was just a view of the cloudy green canal and unfortunately my boyfriend and I got lice after staying at the hotel.

Yona K.

Yelp
Stay away from this hotel. The location is not the best. The website promises a private beach, jetski, kayaking and it is all a lie. The website is deceiving. The restaurant is closed most of the time. Ther is no breakfast served, only coffee is complimentary. They don't clean rooms or provide clean towels unless you ask for it Daily! The room is tiny, there is no separation between toilet and shower, so there is water on the floor always. They don't even offer water. The price of a water bottle is ridiculous! The pool on the rooftop and the proximity to Lincoln road mall are the only good features of this hotel. Never coming back there again, so disgusted.
