What I enjoyed about this hotel was the location, its not in any of the over-populated areas, its off beat in town, which means nice quiet nights of sleep. I was upgraded to a room that faced other buildings, so I didn't have street noise. The AC can go low, which keeps the room nice and cool during Miamis heat and humidity periods. The walk to the Art Deco district was about 25m, didn't seem that long if you walk thru the Lincoln Street Mall which is only a 5 min walk. There are city buses that pick up nearby for service to Downtown Miami and a fare free trolley shuttle that can save some of the walking. I didn't use it, but I understand there is a shuttle to a beachfront property of theirs if you want to hang out on the beach.
What I didn't like, the service isn't friendly, which I discovered to be the norm for Miami as a whole. Like others have echoed here, its like you inconvenience them when you need anything. I stayed on points, they still charged me a resort/destination fee which is not the norm across the IHG brand. I tried contacting the hotel and never got a response, contacted Kimpton, the hotel told them they emailed me when they really didn't. Had to dispute the charges thru my credit card company. This is NOT good service. I stayed at 5 other Kimpton properties this year when moving across the country and all of them had way better service, and it set the standard. This hotel doesn't even come close to that standard, I honestly wish Kimpton would drop them from the family because they don't live up to the quality you would normally get at other Kimpton locations. It is cheaper to stay here, maybe good service isn't included in the price, keep that in mind.
