"When chef Kris Komori won the 2023 James Beard Award for Outstanding Chef: Mountain Region, it marked Idaho's first medal from the organization. At Kin, Komori launches frequently rotating tasting menus that highlight seasonal harvest from regional farmers and food purveyors. One week the star dish might be a deconstructed chicken-noodle soup. Another menu delights with an unusual raw-bar twist on fish and chips. Many of these menus are themed around community initiatives, including fundraising for a range of causes." - Chadner Navarro

"James Beard Award-nominated chef Kris Komori and his team at Kin focus on seasonally and locally sourced fare cooked with precision and flair. Their tasting menu changes frequently, offering a multicourse dinner (with or without wine pairing) at a communal table. If you’re not ready to take the leap into a full dinner, grab a seat at the bar and order a craft cocktail to go along with a house-made frankfurter or Idaho sturgeon sandwich. In the summer there are refreshing cold noodles, while the colder months may warrant a hot bowl of ramen or posole. They also offer a series of outdoor dinners featuring entertainment from local arts and music groups." - Scott Ki, Scott Wink

Little late sharing, but my son brought me here for mother's day. It was lovely, they had options to accommodate my food allergies. It is a set menu, the food was fresh, inventive and tasty.

We went here for our anniversary/birthday dinner! This place is UNDERRATED! Truly had the best experience ever! The concept is around an artist, this time it was around Sue! They understand her life is detail and curate dishes around her life story! All the art is the background was made by her - paintings/photography! I wish I had the menu that we took from them to include a detail list of what we ate. We had a drinks pairing along with food. They were SO good! Food (from what I remember) - Egg/salad, soup, tofu, palette cleanser, radish and beetroot cooked, and then dessert! (essentially a 5 course meal)! They were all SO good. Even the entrance was like a speakeasy! We enter into a bar and then into KIN!

Google
Absolutely amazing. Such a creative and unique experience. The vision they have for this place is stunning. Prefix menu curated around a creative idea. Each course served with a tie to the overarching creative idea. Incredible food. Locally sourced ingredients. Menu is updated on the regular. Probably the best dining experience I’ve had in Idaho.

Having dinner at KIN is not just about dinning, it’s about enjoying and appreciating the perfect integration of art and fine ingredients. When you are waiting for the start time of your dinner, the gallery style of dinning environment prepares you to what you might be even amazed later. Every dish is inspired by the topic, created with elegant preparations and fused into the art. You should visit here at least once in a lifetime.

Google
100 stars! Incredible food and experience. We came for the last seating which I guess is a little different. The food was unique and delicious. I wish I could describe it all but they were all related to Aesop's Fables and just kept getting better. Pretty amazing deal for an incredible dinner with wine pairing.

Kin is such a fun experience. From the gallery to the creative dishes, we enjoyed every bit of our journey here.

Google
The best dining experience in Boise, if not all of Idaho. James Beard Award winning chef Kris Komori and his team have created a beautiful and intimate space where groups of people from all over gather to get to experience and enjoy their food. The main dining room is small, so reservations are definitely required. You will be served a multitude of dishes of the kitchens choosing showcasing local ingredients and flavors pairings thought of by the same people serving you the food. The current menu is showcasing summer memories of the staff at Kin and you get to know each dish just as you would the person behind it. The flavors were all in harmonious balance while feeding you plenty to be full without feeling bloated. Most of the food is even plated within the same room you are dining in, and you get to each with your eyes just as much as you do with your nose and mouth. The supper club (the later seating) even has beverages included in the price of the meal and all complimented the food very well. Both the main seating and the supper club are definitely worth a visit, and they change the menu every 5 weeks so there is always a reason to keep coming back. We had a fantastic experience and meal and will definitely be coming back.

Google
Service was excellent. Food very average.. didn’t match up with the experience the restaurant was trying to achieve. The best dish was the rhubarb tart with oat milk . (1) Gluten-free bread- was hard (2) Crab & artichoke - Yummy 3) soup - sour & peppery. Average taste but pretty 4) Monk-fish : nice presentation but tasteless.. the sesame caviar wasn’t salty at all thus didn’t help to bring any taste to the monk fish 5) Pork - overcooked thus dry & very salty 6) Rhubarb tart - best Warm towels at the end … nice gesture... note to restaurant .. perhaps use tongs to place the towels on plates instead of hands

Yelp
Generational course dinner was a delight! Enjoyed the spooky art all around before our dining experience. Each course was carefully crafted & explained by the fun staff. Was recommended to by a friend & would absolutely recommend to another!

Gwen M.

Yelp
Food taste and presentation, table service and sharing of the inspiration for each course service, and ambiance with a featured artist's work on the walls, all were as tasty and interesting as expected. It was a wonderful surprise to learn that KIN supports local artists by hanging pictures by the current, featured artist and describing how one or more pictures inspired each plate served. Imagine having a dessert based on garden peas, and finding it quite good. Such are the surprises at KIN. From the appetizer, main dish, palate cleanser to dessert, each serving was flavorful and unique. We also ordered the customized non-alcoholic drinks, and they were fun. Each pairing featured an herb which tended to stand out in the drink; they added to each plating, for sure, and were worth the additional expense to taste such creativity. Boise street parking after 6 pm is pretty easy, so its not a hassle to drive and park close. KIN is definitely worth the dining experience. We may reserve again after the the menu changes in 5 weeks! So delicious and our company of friends was so fun!

Yelp
Wow! What an experience! I won't say much because I know the menu and experience changes often, but the food is unique and delicious, the customer service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was top-notch. It is expensive but personally I thought it was worth it for this unique experience. There's nothing else like it in Boise!

Yelp
Anniversary dinner at KIN with my wife. Service was fabulous from the Art Haus Bar through dessert. Food was delicious and inventive. Decor and ambience mostly on point, the actual lighting for the food was a bit weak. And music was at a perfect volume but the selection was a repetitive low energy European electronica. It was large table group seating, which normally we find perfect. In this case we were at table end and the entire room was compromised of much younger folks. And not a terribly engaging set of young folks at that, at least right where we were. We would much have preferred our own little table. But had we not been at table end (giving us more choice) or had our immediate table mates been more interesting, it would have been fine. So it goes. Our major complaint was presentation. And in this regard it it why we likely won't return. Each course was prefaced by it's narrative inspiration. In this case non profits. Forget the fact that it was annoying as hell to have my dessert prefaced by telling us the split in the chocolate delight represented the 15% "gender pay gap". Forget that it's factually absurd, even if it were a non profit for a cause I believe in (like veteran assistance), describe the food first so we begin eating, and keep the non profit description short and sweet. Not agonizingly long. Frankly, since you announced that these weren't agencies you donated to but wanted us to, maybe get your inspiration from nature or art. I asked them since this was a "season of giving" menu if the meal was free. Apparently it wasn't. While we are unlikely to return the food and staff were all excellent. And one of our serving staff even sang us a wonderful and sultry good-bye song. This is not a great romantic spot, but would be better with a small group. Fortunately my wife is all the company one needs so it was a Fab night.

Yelp
Kin offers an exquisite dining experience that seamlessly weaves together a five-course culinary journey with captivating storytelling. The carefully curated food and beverage pairings showcase a masterful blend of flavors, each course unveiling a new chapter in the gastronomic narrative. What sets Kin apart is its commitment to local connections, as each dish unfolds with a story deeply rooted in the community. The meticulous selection of ingredients reflects a thoughtful engagement with nearby businesses, creating a dining experience that not only tantalizes the taste buds but also celebrates the rich tapestry of local flavors. Where the server tells the story behind the business and the influences of the dish- a great way to understand what and why you are eating here. The communal setting adds a unique charm, fostering a shared experience among diners who embark on this culinary adventure together. Kin's commitment to both storytelling and supporting local businesses makes it a standout destination for those seeking a delightful and immersive dining experience.

Yelp
Met our kids at the bar at Kin. We had a wonderful dinner. I ordered the Yakisoba and my husband ordered the burger. I added on shrimp and an egg for only $5 to my meal. I loved their twist on regular food. The salt and vinegar fries were great too. Our dinner was delicious and reasonably priced. The server was very attentive. Next time we are in town, we will be back.

Yelp
We ate and drank on the cocktail side. Only one option - ramen noodles. For it to be a one item menu, it was awful! Broth was too salty, noodles felt hard, almost dried and not fresh. Little to, no veggies. For about $20, save your money for a better dinner. Plus you have to go get your own water...really?

Brian H.

Yelp
My absolute favorite restaurant in all of Idaho, maybe anywhere. It is art on a plate and holy moly is that art delicious!!! Have gone multiple times and it never disappoints. Remy, Chris, and the staff are incredible. Yes, it's spendy but would expect nothing less for this experience.

Max W.

Yelp
I'm gonna jump right in. If you want to know what a $40 hamburger tastes like, but you only have $16, this is your place. If it's still on the menu by the time you see this, it's the French Onion Soup Burger. Like any top tier restaurant should, they change their menus, and if it's too late by the time you read this, go with your gut. If it's on the menu when you arrive, it's a top 5 best burger of your life. Side note. If you're into whiskey, they have a good collection with better-than-fair pricing. If you like cocktails, my wife and I have tried to find one we don't like, and we have failed thus far. It's too bad Yelp only allows for 5 stars, because this place deserves 10. Would recommend.

Jasmine F.

Yelp
The food is genuinely not good. Atmosphere is wannabe artsy and pretentious [wild how much you will notice that exact same word experience used across other reviews]. The food lacked basic seasoning and was objectively bad and not adult-sized portions. The average course was eaten in 1-2 bites...$300+ dinner to leave hungry? They also charged us for having an allergy for an inexpensive ingredient we did not eat, in addition to a ton of BS charges before gratuity. We will never, ever give our hard-earned money to this place again. Cheap ingredients, cheap portions, STEEP PRICE.

Smooth A.

Yelp
It been a while since I have been there but if you are looking for a place to go for a special occasion like birthday, anniversary or proposal then KIN should be a consideration. The meals they offer are not average quality or presentation. The visuals of the meal and the flavors that burst in your mouth will blow your mind. They prepare culinary masterpieces is all I can say. The experience is worth it. Service for each group setting is quick and professional. I am looking forward now to my next visit.

Erica R.

Yelp
Great staff, ambiance and location. Really loved the organization, and the staff running the dinner seamlessly. The bar was also lovely. I enjoyed the wine pairings with dinner. One con is that was the most expensive meal I've literally ever had, and none of the courses really blew us away. They were all good but just ok. I would've liked to leave saying - THAT WAS AMAZING! For what turned out to be a $400 meal PLUS TIP. So, just be aware of the price point. Oh, and you're in VERY close quarters with your table mates. So, hopefully they're cool! But, it was interesting and fun.

Kathaleen B.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience in January the last experience I'm September was not that great They are going through growing pains and the vegan options were not great

Caitlyn S.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good bar experience with good mocktails, Art Haus Bar is worth the try. The ambiance is relaxing and mature; it reminds me of a lounge. We sat by the window and it was a good spot to have quiet conversations with a friend. They use a QR code menu, so that's an FYI if that's something that impacts your experience. In terms of service, our server was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. We only got drinks, so I can't speak to the food. We each got two mocktails. They were good! My only "negative" comment is the price point. They were all $10, and they were all relatively small. If it were a liquor-based drink, I'd understand that, but the price point seemed rather steep for a small mocktail that's done in a few sips. But I understand it also pays for the experience overall. You do see a line item for "health and wellness" for employees, and I've seen some other reviews commenting on that. I don't know what exactly that's for, but I don't think it's a big deal for that to be built into the final check. You can factor that into your tip amount if it's truly a deterrent. Overall, definitely a cool spot for post-work beverages or a Friday night with friends.

Justin C.

Yelp
What a great meal! I was pretty intimidated by Kim's regular tasting menu, but eating at the Art Haus bar was a great decision. This is mine if the best burgers I have had in a long time...perfectly cooked and topped with great stuff! I've never had salt and vinegar fries, and they were outstanding. Wife had the yaki soba with shrimp and we were all very satisfied.

Sara N.

Yelp
This place served me an incredibly awkward, strange and unsatisfying meal in a not pleasant atmosphere and then when I wrote them a note expressing my frustration and to some degree incredulity, they ignored it completely. I am not a fan. You could not drag me back.

Dan Y.

Yelp
Ask them if they've gotten rid of their lead spoons. If you can scratch the spoon with your fingernail, it's lead, not pewter. Pewter doesn't scratch that easily. Lead does.

Tom G.

Yelp
Wasn't sure what to expect but I found it as advertised. Lots of flavors and mixture of ingredients. Chef is outstanding. If you have not been it's not your normal dinner out. Your greeted with a glass of "Champagne" of sorts and is a nice touch. One seating per night and you eat at a long table with other guests. Name tags at your seat is also a nice touch. It's a set menus that changes monthly I believe? I found all the food very good to excellent! Some not my style but that's what this is about, trying new things. Only part I don't think I'll do is the wine paring. I found myself constantly wanting more to drink. They pour just about what you get when wine tasting but charge $$$ I think a bottle of wine if even offered would be a better choice. The service was what you expected at this price point and so was the atmosphere. They address you by name several times during the meal which is a nice touch. I would have given 5 stars but the wine pouring was a disappointment. (Maybe I just drink too much? Lol)

Priya K.

Yelp
Where do I start. 9pm last res available, booked it because of the James beard nominee article we read; we thought we would have a nice unique experience. Find out we booked a supper, also 5 course prix fixe menu. It was led by a new talent. "Talent". We spent 200 dollars for the most mediocre, hyped, wanna be elevated disappointment. Flavors? Too complex they didn't blend. Plated items were pretty however each bite you were scratching your head asking "why?" It was a war in my mouth. I don't mean to sound harsh; and possibly we came on a bad night? BUT we came out of state, this is our lasting impression. It's a pass. Also! The wine? Some cheap Trader Joe flavorless swill. Such a sad dinner. We ended our torture at 11pm and were scrounging to see where we could eat. OH! And one of the hosts serenaded us to "you make me feel like a beautiful woman"... the awkwardness made my skin crawl despite her beautiful voice. It was NSync's BYE BYE BYE for me! Glad it wasn't for a special dinner.

Chris J.

Yelp
Be sure to check the menu and ask about what dishes contain crickets. We had a shrimp dish and come to find out it contained crickets. There is a protein in crickets that humans are unable to properly digest. I ate some and felt horrible after. At $200 per person there should be no insects in the ingredients.

Tracy D.

Yelp
What an amazing Prix Fixe dining experience!!! Beautifully executed from start to finish. Innovative dishes. Fantastic flavors! This is an ABSOLUTE must if you enjoy fine dining experiences. They had my name and guest's name on a card to show where we were sitting and we sat across from each other in a long series of tables next to one another so we could talk and engage with fellow diners. A menu was provided for what was to come. EVERYTHING was delicious! Not a single dish was forgettable. I had the wine pairing option (strongly recommend but it is not a must) while my guest had the non-alcoholic pairing, which she enjoyed. They ended our dining experience with one of them signing a beautiful goodbye tune! How wonderful is that?!?! Very clever and artistic.

Courtney W.

Yelp
Quite literally the best burger I've ever had and I'm not exaggerating. The bun is buttery soft, the burger itself (a mixture of pork/beef, perfectly thin) cooked to perfection. The thinly sliced lettuce. Mayo + chopped pickles + slices of American cheese. It hits every note. I devour it every single time. Not to mention THE FRIES and the fry sauce. Every aspect of this meal is perfect. The ramen is also great. Cocktails are wonderful. If you haven't, go to Art Haus immediately!

Jackie G.

Yelp
I've had the privilege of dining at some iconic restaurants in the PNW and our experience at KIN was among the best. Set in an art gallery, which was stunning and I immediately ordered prints of everything in the "Goddess" series, I knew we were in for a treat when we were greeted by the lovely hostess and champagne. The menu changes often, but we experienced the theme of "Good vs. Evil". Nothing was left on either of our plates for any course. We thoroughly enjoyed the playfulness, and thoughtfulness and love that imbued each dish. We will be back, even though we aren't locals!

Emily R.

Yelp
A gem in Boise! We ate here for the first time a couple months ago and had the Hot Noodz, Mah Fry (with chicken and mushroom), and the Vegan Chocolate Cake. First of all, as someone who has been to some of the best ramen restaurants in Japan, NYC, and LA, I can say this ramen is legit. It's not the best I've ever had, but it's up there on my list and very impressive for the Boise scene. Wish I had gotten a photo of it. Highly recommend! We weren't sure what to expect with the Mah Fry but were open to trying it out. It did not disappoint! We easily could have ordered this x2. It comes with a dip that is very complimentary and delicious. Also highly recommend. Finally, the Vegan Chocolate Cake. I typically steer clear of anything vegan but vegan desserts don't scare me. This is no ordinary chocolate cake. It's dense, rich, and has such an interesting and unique flavour profile. I kept wanting more!!! The first time we got it, we didn't notice that it didn't come with the Asian pears on top, but it was fantastic regardless. This cake was so good, that I was craving it again last night. I've been thinking about it for months now...I stopped in and ordered a slice to take home and eat while Netflixing. This time it came with the Asian pears too! What a nice surprise! I really hope they never take this off the menu...

Leah M.

Yelp
Want to try a bar that "different" and willing to be adventurous with food pairings, alcohol & flavor combinations... this is the place!! Pomegranate Cardamom syrup..uh yes please! Asked to have with vodka and ginger beer plus a bit of lime (to cut the sweet) 26th bit of soda water & over ice..a Summer Rush for sure!! Bartenders easy to visit with, glad you're here and happy to talk about the "Moron" which is Welsh for carrot-(so it's healthy right?!) which gives it's fun color! Try the snacks...what I thought was a chicharron chip but it was fried tapioca starch (think shrimp chip minus the shrimp) a with a spinach & lamatium (yep, an edible weed!)..pretty yummy! Next, had the Pork Noodles... waiter said all fresh, home made, 48 hour broth...organic eggs... just delicious! Will be back!

Cliff G.

Yelp
Okay. So the only regret I have is that I want to keep this a secret! Bar none, the best burger I've had ever. High praise since I've traveled extensively. My wife had the Yakisoba noodles and they were amazing. Next time pictures before we eat! Yum!

Rachel F.

Yelp
We went to Supper Club on Saturday night (9 pm seating, unpublished menu). The food was interesting and mostly very tasty - hats off to the chef and the cooks. However, the overall vibe of the place was inaccessible and pretentious. Where do you enter the restaurant? Pretty hard to figure out and poor signage/way finding (maybe that's intentional and part of its cool factor?) We ordered cocktails on the patio before the dinner and the service was lackluster. My partner asked our server to describe the flavor profile of a drink and she said "boozy." Um, duh. He followed up by asking what two particular ingredients were and she said " you know, just good mixing liquors." She knew nothing about the drink and could have just said that and told us she'd get more information. During the actual dinner itself I was uncomfortable with how much the host (owner!) was touching me (shoulder, arm) and just generally in my space when pouring wines, etc., and calling me "darling." Really? There was a very cliquey vibe with regulars and inside jokes between some guests and the hosts and it all just felt incredibly performative. At the end of the dinner the owner made some vaguely suggestive sexual joke about his (girlfriend?) only being good at one thing which was definitely... oh, wait, just kidding, Singing! She's great at singing. And serenaded us very awkwardly. If skeezy performative is your vibe, go for it. I wanted good food and an intimate dining experience without creepiness and pretentiousness.

Susanne H.

Yelp
There isn't anything to say except wonderful smells, flavors, atmosphere and service. I couldn't finish my dessert, we were so deliciously full and happy. Excited to go back and we will, many times over. Thank You KIN!!

Dave R.

Yelp
World-class cooking comes to Boise. Went in July for my birthday. Each course of the tasting menu was creative and original without being pretentious. The flavors were perfectly balanced and so evocative of the season and locale. Warm and friendly service in a modern, art-filled space. Dining is communal -- one seating per night at two long tables (technically 2-seaters pushed close together), so prepare to make small talk. But there's plenty oohing and aahing over the food to keep the conversation flowing. KIN absolutely deserves its James Beard award -- heads above anything else in town.

Leanne S.

Yelp
FABULOUS Thai burger tonight and a work of art macarons for dessert! Thanks Kin for a lovely evening!

Robert D.

Yelp
In in on July 31st. Most of the tables were dirty. The customers already there seated looked unhappy about their wait. There was obviously a short staffing issue. My milkshake came after we'd finished eating and were ready to go. On the bright side the food was good...

Brian S.

Yelp
Decent price and selection considering its a small bar. Friendly bartenders. Why am I paying for your health insurance? Will not be back because of this.

Cheryl W.

Yelp
Wonderful experience! The presentation is art at its finest. The different flavors in each bite is like a party in my mouth ! I look forward to my visits to Boise, KIN is such a treat!

Dylan F.

Yelp
Came for "hatesgiving" menu and let me tell you.. hate is a little strong but it was very unpleasant. If you're going to be adventurous and gimmicky that's all well and good but in a tasting menu restaurant please make sure your food actually tastes good.. I actually liked most the ingredients it was just very poorly executed. Service was overall good but the manager was a bit pretentious and I don't really like to bump elbows with strangers sat next to me. I assume on a different night without the gimmicky shtick the food would be better... Regardless for a $100+ per person price point this was easily the worst meal I've ever had. Also salmon was over cooked that's just indefensible. Terrible end to a trip visiting family.

Meredith S.

Yelp
What a special experience. Every dish was so thoughtful and creative! Each dish had locally foraged ingredients, complimenting a theme inspired by a local artist, whose work was displayed in the restaurant. The seating is communal so much more fun if you get to know your neighbors. Everything course, wine pairing, and cocktail mix was amazing! A wonderful experience for date night or a special celebration.

Heidi A.

Yelp
I wanted to love this. I have been to a couple high end tasting dinners. This fell short for me. For the positive- service was outstanding, so was the ambiance. Really cool. The food was not. It just wasn't that great. I felt like for the $$$, it wasn't balanced enough. Serving rich, heavy dishes back to back, flavors didn't connect perfectly and wine pairing did not enhance food. I was sad it wasn't better. Glad I tried it, but will save the $ for another experience in Boise. The night ended with a beautiful jazz song sung a capela by a server. That was epic.

Caitlin A.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience at Kin for my husband's birthday. The food and service were fabulous. We loved learning the inspiration behind each course and experiencing the unique flavor combinations. Highly recommend for a special night out in Boise. We also appreciate that Kin requires proof of vaccination or negative covid test due to family style seating.

Jamie C.

Yelp
Stopped in last summer for a cocktail with friends before our dinner reservation East of Kin. Sat on the patio surrounded by beautiful fire pits, cheers to a great evening! It is on my list to dine here next. Intrigued by menu.

Brooke J.

Yelp
Service was terrible. The most pretentious, better-than-you-attitude staff. Had a better time at mulligans down the street lol

Lindsey W.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Boise. Love trying out their new menus every couple months.

Liz N.

Yelp
We were smitten as soon as we came thru the doors. Great music, fab servers, delicious cocktails, great vibe in the lounge. The Sat tasting menu which followed was a feast for all senses. Beautiful pairings of fantastic wines - imaginative & innovative dishes, artfully presented. Great art, lovely people a delightful experience all around. Shout out to the uber talented Sam Tru who sang for us after dinner. Fab way to end a perfect evening. Already booked next reservation!

Chris B.

Yelp
First off, I want to say this. I was so upset by my experience at Kin that I knew I planned on writing about it when I got home, however I was surprised to find that the business has yet to have any comments about other customer experiences, so I created a listing for the business to have a future opportunity to prove me wrong. Covid made many businesses adjust to how they did business, and since they opened up in the middle of Boise being shut down, at home meal kits were a staple of kin, and instagram was a great way to find out about their rotating monthly menu options. A few of my acquaintances had tried and enjoyed the home kits, so when my friends said we were going to Kin for dinner, we were all pretty excited because of the hype that had been built up. Hype quickly became disappointment when we pulled up the menus to find that their physical location only offered appetizers under the "bar food" section. All the wonderful meals we had heard about were not available to the presently hungry patrons who arrived at a dinner hour. This could have been an oversight on our part if we had looked on their website, but the hype was real and we had believed it. We ordered our cocktails and I looked closer at the menu and found something I had never seen in another restaurant. "An optional 2.8% service charge to support employee health insurance and PPE will be added to every check." My friend asked, "Why do they say it's optional?" I responded with, "It's optional because you aren't required to pay it, but do you want to be the person that tells their server that you don't want them to have insurance, even when their employer should be providing it for them. By saying it's optional, it guilts you into doing the right thing so the owners aren't obligated to. It's the same thing as paying an Idaho minimum wage of $3.35 to servers and expecting your customers to pick up the other 80% of fair wages." I asked the server if they offered full meals, and instead of owning the restaurants decision to being more dedicated to cocktails and apps, he tried to give a longwinded explanation on how the owners have good relationships with the farmers so they want to support them with their menu, but he never actually said anything about not offering entrees, rather, he skated around the concept. It's perfectly fine to do cocktails and apps, just tell me and don't give me excuses to try and order a dozen apps so I can be full on overpriced small portions. By this point, our cocktails came, and to my surprise, my wife and I had the same drink, however hers showed up in a tom collins, and mine in a pint glass. This may seem like a minor thing, but consistency in a restaurant is huge for repeat business. If the glass sizes are different, the cocktail ingredient ratios aren't consistent, and you can't expect a repeat experience. This detail got me curious, so I looked at all of our plates, and realized they were all cheap mismatched dinnerware that looked like you can get at DI for .79. My friends said, "Maybe they want a mismatched vibe?" I responded, "Maybe they wanted to save every penny they could and wanted customers to front as much of the cost for a half hearted experience, but maybe it's just dishes that don't vibe." The check came (with the 2.8% already added) and I paid for the overpriced drinks and we left. Here is my takeaway. Three hours later, I ate somewhere else, but I'm still annoyed at how much of a lazy approach this was to dining. The dinnerware is an indication of the types of decisions the owners make to cut costs, the addition of the 2.8% is another indication that the owner is unwilling to provide his employees benefits from his earnings, the attitude I received from the server made me feel like I wasn't good enough for the restaurant, and the cost of drinks was ridiculous. The only reason I'm not giving a flat out 1 star is because my drink was decent, which you should expect out of a cocktail bar, but I have no idea if it will be good if I go back, and that's why I won't. If this is post-covid downtown Boise, I'm out.

Yelp
We went here last minute on a whim and I'm so glad we did! The cocktails were great! Strong with great flavor. The food was wonderful as well. My boyfriend got the hot noodz ramen and I got the fried chicken and mushrooms. Both were delicious. After eating we played a round of darts and had another cocktail. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff were incredibly kind and friendly.

Yelp
Pretentious, neglectful staff. Heard so many good things about Kin's chef, so on a Thur, May 11, 2023, we thought we would try it. Did not have a rez. The host seemed uppity and almost gleeful informing us there was no way we could get in without a rez. We asked if there was bar seating with food, and indeed there was plenty of seating, which was fine with us. Our waiter came to the table with this weird dirty headband on, jeans falling off of him, and also a bit of an attitude. When asked if we wanted to order a drink, I explained my partner was using the restroom, and could he come back in a few minutes. He never graced our table again. Each time we called to him, he ignored us and seemed very busy talking and joking with staff and what seemed to be some of his friends coming in. We could not figure out, other than noodz, what was offered on the menu. If it was a changing menu, it would have been nice to get some guidance from the waiter. After about 20 minutes, and a nonbusy bar, we decided Kin wasn't worth rude staff, and total neglect. Maybe the food is good, but we will never know, because there are too many great restaurants in our fair city of Boise, to have staff treat us like we should be grateful we even walked in the door. I cannot recommend this place. Very snotty vibe.

Yelp
Amazing food, incredible service. Would come back anytime for the atmosphere alone. Came for brunch and could not decide what tk get because everything looked amazing. You can tell that the cocktails were created by someone who really cares about what they are presenting and I can't wait to try all of them

Yelp
Waited almost 2 hours and Kennin was VERY unhelpful, the entire staff acted like they did not want us there. Would not recommend- youre better off at Mulligans.

Yelp
KIN is THE high-end experience when it comes to atmosphere, food and drinks. The creativity, flavor and pairings that goes into each dish is fantastic. The staff is friendly and attentive. The location in downtown Boise is so convenient and we are already looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
This place has a good atmosphere and good drinks. However, if you are Active Duty or a dependent of one, I don't recommend that you come here. We provided our military IDs as a form of identification and the bartender took them back to someone that I am assuming is the manager. The manager came out with our IDs and asked immediately "if we had drivers licenses". We do, and I responded as such, but let him know that they're valid forms of identification. He sarcastically asked his colleague "what do you think?" And did not want to serve us based on our IDs. I asked him why he wouldn't accept our military IDs and he responded with "Are you being rude to me?" No, I'm not being rude. All I wanted to know is why my military ID wasn't valid. Anyway, he ended with the fact that the younger bartender could serve us if he wanted to, which he was polite enough to serve us. It seems like management needs to go back to the liquor commission and ask for an updated booklet since he was "never seen this form of ID" before. Living near Gowen Field and Mountain Home AFB I find this hard to believe. Good drinks, but won't be back any time soon. Horrible customer service.
