Kindling Review - Brighton - London - The Infatuation

"There’s one word that comes to mind when we think of Kindling, and that is ‘delightful’. This place is an excellent shout if you’re looking for somewhere to have a fancy lunch, a foliage-filled Brighton date, or to eat a Saddlescombe mutton burger that will have you cursing every sad Big Mac you’ve allowed to touch your brioche-loving lips. It's a light and airy modern European small plates restaurant near the seafront run by an ex- chef, and as you might expect with this kind of heritage, it's all about quality produce. Though the menu changes regularly, you can expect dishes like smoked tomato salad, exceptional seafood, and tarted-up vegetables complete with crispy chickpeas. See, delightful. The Best Restaurants in Brighton and Hove - London - The Infatuation

"There’s one word that comes to mind when we think of Kindling, and that is ‘delightful’. It’s a light and airy modern European small plates restaurant near the seafront run by an ex-St. John chef, and as you might predict with this kind of heritage, it’s all about quality produce. The menu changes daily, but you can expect dishes like smoked tomato salad, exceptional seafood, and tarted-up vegetables complete with crispy chickpeas. Come evening, you can only order the £80 tasting menu, but if you’re looking to kick it à la carte, Kindling is prime territory for a fancy lunch. It’s also excellent for a foliage-filled date involving sweet nothings over their signature homemade ketchup. See, delightful. " - Heidi Lauth Beasley

kindling – Brighton and Hove - a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant

"The strapline of this understated modern restaurant is ‘food that is kind to the environment and good for the soul’, and their focus is firmly on using local suppliers and minimising waste. A lovely freshness runs throughout the assured, detailed dishes, which arrive with eye-catching presentation. The charcoal grill is at the heart of things and used to great effect across both the lunchtime small plates and evening tasting menus." - Michelin Inspector

Came to Kindling last Tuesday to celebrate my partners birthday. Booked through the First Table website, and the only slot they had was 4:30pm, but they let us come in a bit earlier as we were a bit pushed for time, which was really appreciated. Lovely decor and can imagine it can get really crowded during busy times, but the atmosphere was nice and chilled while we were there. We were hoping to go for the mid-week meat platter, but it wasn't on the menu we were given, so it possibly isn't an option for the First Table promotion, so instead we went for the sharing cut of T-bone steak with a few sides to share. Honestly, the steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Also appreciate it comes to the table already sliced to save any arguments over who has had the most! Ordered 2 sauces but probably didn't need them as the sauce from the sides and flavour from the steak was plenty. Also ordered 2 starters - Courgette & Feta Fritters, which was top, and the Brisket & Jalapeño Croquette. This didn't turn up, which is unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to trying it, but by the time we finished our mains, we had had more than enough to do us so will definitely try it next time! Both agreed that even without the first table discount that this was fantastic value for money! Looking forward to our next visit!

BRING IN CAULIFLOWER CHEESE. Really nice restuarant. Got the Sunday lunch sharer and we loved it. Amazing cut of beef, perfectly cooked. Yorkshire potato was large and crispy. Nice crispy potatoes. Carrots and cabbage were perfect, as was the red wine onion gravy. Me and my partner adored it but we had one complaint - no cauliflower cheese! Or even another veg would be nice Seriously recommend - best roast dinner we've had out in years

Wonderful service, lovely Sunday sharing roast a bit pricey but the quality of the meat was excellent! The beef is cooked as you order, not as the normal Sunday roast 😉 Yummy vegetables and Yorkshire Pudding. Good selection of wines. The vegetarian options were very nice and tasty. I’ll be back 😃😃😃

1st time at Kindling and it’s fair to say it won’t be our last. The whole experience exceeded expectations and can see why this gem of a restaurant has been getting such rave reviews. Whilst the steak was the star of the show the creamed spinach and salad and fries were equally delicious. Didn’t have a pudding but from what I saw they looked fab too and that’s another reason to return. Great job everyone and thank you for a delightful Saturday late lunch.

Incredible experience here at Kindling. Food, atmosphere and service was amazing. my boyfriend and I can’t wait to go again. 10/10 from me and highly recommend to everyone. They were very accommodating as they were fully booked however managed to squeeze us in, onto the Bar which i think is great seat as it’s an experience itself, watching the food being prepared and the chefs were friendly and chatty, answering questions about the menu.

We drove 15 miles to try this restaurant, and it was absolutely worth every mile. As restaurant owners ourselves, we truly appreciate those special moments of gourmet tasting – and this place delivered on every level. From the warm welcome by the staff to the friendly chat with the maître, we felt right at home. The cocktails were spot on, perfectly mixed and full of flavor. We started with a platter and a kid’s mac ‘n’ cheese for our 10-year-old daughter – and to our surprise, she managed to finish her meal and even tried most of ours! That says a lot, considering how particular she can be with food. We were so impressed that we ended up ordering the slow-cooked brisket burger – and wow, what a treat! Tender, juicy, and packed with flavor – it was an absolute highlight. Even though the atmosphere was lively and a bit noisy, our table was right in front of the open kitchen, which gave us a front-row seat to the chefs in action – something we truly enjoyed. As fellow food lovers and professionals, we can confidently say the quality here is exceptional. Absolutely recommended – we’ll definitely be back!
