Yelp
Our very first warning sign was a customer leaving and asking me what is happening to this place and why there's suddenly so many people, and I'm sorry bro, but your fav place is now gonna be a cringe gathering spot at the very least for a couple months.
Like I GET the concept and I SEE the vision, but unless you implement a time slot reservation system during high traffic times (like OpenTable or Yelp waitlist), the vibe is lost. There's no seating, everything runs out, cringe clientele are malding and secretly pissed cuz they have no concept of patience/can't sit down. No one is taking in the vibes or catching up with their friends, everyone wants what they ordered and to GTFO.
And this is BEFORE the "big influencers" have turbo posted about this place, so I can't imagine how much worse it's gonna get, so if you're planning to go I'd recommend some weird weekday time to be honest.
Staff is TRYING their hardest and working as efficiently as they can. Super nice and I'm so sorry you're dealing with the cringe and the crowds. I saw people leaving trash all over the decor WHEN THE TRASHCAN WAS RIGHT ACROSS FROM THEM and having a poor older staff woman go back and forth from the back to the front and clean all of it.
Anyways, it took around 40-ish minutes for our drinks and food to come out. I got the last shokupan toast set of the day, which is crazy.
Our group got the:
1) Strawberry Sesame Latte (with almond milk):
-You can choose whichever milk you'd like and I don't believe that there's an upcharge
-It's a strawberry sumac coulis, toasted sesame paste, and espresso.
-You can taste the strawberry if you didn't mix it well. After you mix it well, it only tastes like espresso. It lost all flavor of strawberry and sesame. I couldn't finish this and had to give it to someone else after. Big skip for my next time.
2) Cantaloupe Milk CT:
-The most unique menu offering in my opinion. It's a cantaloupe almond milk with vanilla and coconut honey cream on top.
-Tastes like cantaloupe milk what can I say. Not bad.
3) Matcha Coconut:
-This is coconut water, strawberry Calpico, Pandan syrup and matcha foam.
-Mix it well. It started out with a stronger strawberry taste and you taste more of the pandan towards the end as an aftertaste/the more you drink.
-This was probably my favorite of all the drinks that we ordered.
4) Shokupan Toast Set:
-Was warned this was going to take around 45 minutes, but it came out faster, which was nice. Same time as everything else in the order which worked out for us.
-It's a slice of shokupan bread toasted to perfection with a pat of butter and a side of strawberry jam. Great for pics, tastes perfectly fine, but as my friend stated several times, it's something she can easily make at home, cheaper than $8.
-I'm fine withe bit of upcharge as this is definitely an experience for the venue, but see above to how this wasn't the best for it.
5) Cherry Almond Gelato con Espresso:
-Gelato was creamy and smooth with bits of cherry and almond in it. Pretty good!
-Presentation was great, execution was god awful.
-Everyone at my table was ready for an aesthetically pleasing slow espresso pour over the ice cream. The pouring mini jug was AWFUL for this and I exploded it all over the table, even quickly dumping it on the gelato didn't stop this either, so I can't imagine the additional amount of spilling that occurs each time someone orders this.
-Overall, just an alright dessert item. It's ice cream and espresso, a bit hard to mess that up flavorwise.
I don't think I'd come back unless it's way farther in the future or if I know for a fact it's a weird timing with less people. Overall, didn't leave this place with a great feeling afterwards and I can see the disappointment that made me regret suggesting going here to my friends...
