Kon Chau is a go-to spot off Bird Road for tasty dim sum and Cantonese favorites, where you can enjoy all-day dumplings and a fun, casual vibe.
"For over two decades, Kon Chau has been Miami’s go-to spot for dim sum in Westchester. The no-frills restaurant serves up thin-skinned har gow dumplings stuffed with plump shrimp, juicy pork siu mai, and pan-fried turnip cakes with perfectly crispy edges. Skip the traditional dim sum cart service - here, dishes are made to order, so everything arrives piping hot. Beyond the standard dim sum fare, don’t miss specialties like the lotus leaf-wrapped sticky rice and black bean sauce-slicked chicken feet. Tea service is prompt and plentiful, though be prepared to wait for a table during peak weekend hours." - Dara Smith, Olee Fowler
"Kon Chau is another great Cantonese restaurant near Tropical Park. They have standards like chow mein and chop suey. But the dim sum is the reason to come here—especially the green tea mushroom dumplings. They don’t come around in carts like they do at Tropical Chinese, but are made to order and stuffed generously. Kon Chau is also in the same shopping complex as Lucky Oriental Mart, a good little Asian grocery store where you can buy some frozen dumplings to store in your own freezer." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer
"Kon Chau is one of our favorite places for dim sum and dumplings in Miami, and every time we’ve been here their parking lot is absolutely flush with open spots just begging for our Honda Accord. They serve dim sum all day—not just on the weekend—and we normally load the table up with roast duck buns, green tea mushroom dumplings, shumai, and a whole lot more. But not so much food that we’re too full to go pick up some frozen dumplings from Lucky Oriental, an Asian grocery store in the same shopping complex." - ryan pfeffer
"Kon Chau is a great Chinese restaurant just off Bird Road, and one of the best dim sum options in Miami. They serve dim sum all day, so you don’t have to set an alarm clock or risk missing out. There are over 70 options to choose from here, and we’ve yet to try one we didn’t thoroughly enjoy. The dumplings are all great, especially the green tea mushroom dumplings, which have a subtle green tea flavor. The steamed roast pork buns are an essential order, too. Plus, Kon Chau is also in the same shopping complex as Lucky Oriental Mart, a little Chinese grocery store where you can buy some frozen dumplings to store in your own freezer." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea
"Kon Chau is a great restaurant just off Bird Road, right near Tropical Park. They have American dishes like chow mein and chop suey, as well as more traditional dishes like clay pot casseroles, light Cantonese vegetable dishes, and one of our favorite versions of west lake soup in Miami—featuring ground beef, egg whites, and a pile of fresh cilantro. They also serve some of Miami's best dim sum all day, with a handful of dumpling options like shrimp and pork shumai and green tea mushroom dumplings. The very good steamed roast pork buns are worth ordering too." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, carlos c olaechea
