"Kon Chau is a great restaurant just off Bird Road, right near Tropical Park. They have American dishes like chow mein and chop suey, as well as more traditional dishes like clay pot casseroles, light Cantonese vegetable dishes, and one of our favorite versions of west lake soup in Miami—featuring ground beef, egg whites, and a pile of fresh cilantro. They also serve some of Miami's best dim sum all day, with a handful of dumpling options like shrimp and pork shumai and green tea mushroom dumplings. "Kon Chau is another great Cantonese restaurant near Tropical Park. They have standards like chow mein and chop suey. But the dim sum is the reason to come here—especially the green tea mushroom dumplings. They don’t come around in carts like they do at Tropical Chinese, but are made to order and stuffed generously. The no-frills restaurant serves up thin-skinned har gow dumplings stuffed with plump shrimp, juicy pork siu mai, and pan-fried turnip cakes with perfectly crispy edges. Skip the traditional dim sum cart service - here, dishes are made to order, so everything arrives piping hot. Beyond the standard dim sum fare, don’t miss specialties like the lotus leaf-wrapped sticky rice and black bean sauce-slicked chicken feet. Also, we know they’re not dumplings but the steamed roast pork buns are worth ordering too. "Kon Chau is a great Chinese restaurant just off Bird Road, and one of the best dim sum options in Miami. They serve dim sum all day, so you don’t have to set an alarm clock or risk missing out. There are over 70 options to choose from here, and we’ve yet to try one we didn’t thoroughly enjoy. The dumplings are all great, especially the green tea mushroom dumplings, which have a subtle green tea flavor. The steamed roast pork buns are an essential order, too.
