I've been eyeing Kreung Kitchen for many weeks. Tonight, we finally got a chance to check out the pop-up in Culver City.
All I can say is that tonight's atmosphere and meals exceeded our expectations. Before I get to the food, I have to give a massive shoutout to Sam, the owner, and Christina, his partner, for being welcoming, sincere, and kind hosts. They truly embodied the culture of what it means to be Khmer people with their good vibes and energy. They instantly made us feel like family the moment we met.
First, I should mention that I'm Khmer, and I agree with the owners of Kreung Kitchen - there aren't many Cambodian restaurants in Los Angeles, which is quite frankly a real bummer, as Cambodian food is incredible. Having just moved here, I was really craving Cambodian food. Second, tonight's food was really fire. This evening, we got the grilled chicken, twa ko, and slow-roasted pork belly, and everything was well-seasoned, well-grilled, and cooked to perfection. You know it's Cambodian food when there's lemongrass! They also made tirk trey koh kong, which is an incredibly addicting dipping sauce. By the end of my meal, I was dousing everything in it. My partner also really enjoyed his plate, and we're already planning our next trip out to see them again!
Overall, we're big fans of Kreung Kitchen and will definitely continue supporting this local business! This place is worth the wait and trek out! Seriously, do yourself a favor and swing by. Sending y'all lots of love and support, Sam, Christina, and crew! I can't wait to see y'all bring more traditional Khmer dishes to the streets of L.A.
