The 21 Best Korean Restaurants In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"A modestly sized restaurant in Murray, Hill Queens with big, flat grills on every table, Kum Sung is the rare KBBQ spot that specializes in duck. The most popular item here, it arrives sliced into thin strips, which crisp and caramelize alongside kimchi and whole cloves of garlic. If you need some variety, they also offer bulgogi, galbi, pork belly, and a vast number of non-BBQ options, like kalguksu and pan-fried squid. The naengmyeon here is particularly good. Try the one with sliced beef and spicy sauce." - bryan kim, kenny yang, willa moore, will hartman

Kum Sung BBQ - Review - Murray Hill, Queens - New York - The Infatuation

"If you’re serving Korean BBQ in the saturated market that is Murray Hill, Queens, you have to do something to stand out. Kum Sung’s something is duck. Thinly sliced and served with fistfuls of kimchi and whole cloves of garlic, their duck caramelizes to perfection on big flat grills in the middle of every table. Enjoy it alongside an impressive spread of banchan that includes everything from juicy eggplant to stir-fried potatoes, and supplement with some galbi, bulgogi, or a bowl of kalguksu or seolleongtang. The naengmyeon, with its springy, ice-cold noodles, is highly recommended. photo credit: Bryan Kim Food Rundown photo credit: Bryan Kim Saeng Oh-ri Always order the duck. It’s what you come here for, and it gets even better the longer it sits on the grill, growing crispier around the edges. Don’t ignore the garlic, which slowly roasts in duck fat. photo credit: Bryan Kim Naengmyeon Another great thing about Kum Sung is their selection of naengmyeon. We’re partial to the hot and spicy version with sliced beef. Seolleongtang If you want a lighter soup, the seolleongtang is a great option. It’s subtly beefy, with a milky bone broth and chewy noodles hidden in the bottom." - Bryan Kim

19 Standout Korean Restaurants in Murray Hill, Queens | Eater NY

"Customers flock to Kum Sung for several reasons — the tender strips of duck grilled with garlic cloves, the mul nengmyeon (noodle soup) with chewy noodles in a tangy, icy beef and radish broth, the soy sauce-marinated crabs, the plethora of perfectly flavored banchan — but the halahbuhji (grandpa’s) kimchi bulgogi is its brothy hallmark that’s hard to find elsewhere in New York. It cooks in a pot on the table: The tanginess of aged kimchi combines with the savory beef rib-eye bulgogi and produces succulent bites in a rich, spicy broth." - Caroline Shin

These people cook duck to perfection. Come here for the duck bbq. My wife had no idea she was eating duck and loved it. The longer it sizzles on the skillet the better it taste

A great deal of food, but there are some options where you will need to order two items before they'll use the grill on your table to cook it. We had their signature grandpa's bulgogi, and a side order of their beef bibimbap, which was a feast for two!

The food here is epic. The service is great too. I think this spot is most authentic Korean restaurant you can find in queens. I really wish I live close. 🫣🤧 highly recommend the duck and some said the cold noodles are really yummy but I have never had. Next time!!!

The best duck bbq in all of NJ/NY combined. They grill it for you with old fermented kimchi and garlic. They have amazing side dishes as well. You will want to order a bowl of rice just for the side dishes (includes gaejang - crabs in soy sauce). Definitely try to naengmyun that’s half mool and half bibim. It’s perfect with duck meat. They’ll also give you a free bowl of dwenjang jjigae or chunggookjang. They’re both great but I recommend the latter if you don’t mind the smell. It’s not too pungent and almost nutty. The staff is super friendly too, and will take care of your dog if you have a legit ESA. You will love this place. Highly recommend.

Amazing authentic Korean food! My first time and won’t be the last. The Banchan (side dishes are so varied and perfectly seasoned and so many), the staff are so nice and even the bus boys who have nunchi (intuition). I loved everything about the food. Great for vegetarians and pescatarians. Portions were perfect.

Amazing. The service was on point, the side dishes were delicious and the meat was of high quality. we got the chicken bibimbap and that was crack delisioso, we got the garlic pork strips and the plain pork strips. The quality of the pork was A1, not fatty or chewy just soft and delicious but def garlic>plain. Also got the beef thin strips, also delicious and amazing and fresh. Also got this big soup pot with dumplings and stuff. Some kinda stew but it was also dope.

One of the best spots in Queens for Korean duck KBBQ (duck in general). Their cold noodles are some of the best around as well (I personally like the seakomi mul naeng myeon 새콤이 물냉면)

I ordered through Grubhub at night on Sunday, May 1st and spent around $30.99 for pork belly, $17 for kimchi stew, and $18 for dwenjang jjigae. I was so excited to have a big hearty meal but when it arrived, I was so disappointed. I was flabbergasted at first, like seriously? Did they mess up or is this how they're going to play me? I don't even have to explain if you look at the photos (I did not touch the food prior to taking the photos). I felt scammed out of my money; how can a restaurant do this and think it's okay?? Unbelievable. Their portions were so small and the food was mediocre at best. I paid $31 for 13 pieces of pork?! I literally counted because that's not the serving size I would expect at any kbbq restaurant for $31. I've never experienced this from any Korean restaurant. This is fraud and they should be ashamed that they could even fill the containers to half or even less than half and send it away. It looked so unappetizing, like someone ate from the containers already and decided they wanted to give away their leftovers. Those stews were not worth $17-18; the soup was bland and I could make it better at home. This place is a joke and I will never order from them again. **Response to owner - Your excuse of the cabbage absorbing the soup is not reasonable. Other places make dwenjang and kimchi jjigae without this issue. Especially when you serve this right away and deliver on time, this shouldn’t be a problem; the soup does not shrink that much to less than half the container. This is the kitchen’s fault and the staff that packed this.
