"The team behind outer Arlington’s raw fish hit Yume Sushi sauntered into D.C. with the anticipated opening of a flashy flagship that was named Eater DC’s 2023 restaurant of the year. Tucked inside the tony mixed-use cluster of Cady’s Alley, the striking sushi cave from Bangkok-born chef Saran “Peter” Kannasute and co-owner Jeff King breathes fresh life into the old home of L2 lounge. Kannasute’s calling cards like truffle wasabi, monkfish liver, uni with torched wagyu, and widespread use of edible flowers show up across a lengthy list of rolls." - Missy Frederick, Tierney Plumb
"The team behind outer Arlington’s raw fish hit Yume Sushi sauntered into Georgetown last summer with the anticipated opening of a flashy flagship. Tucked inside the mixed-use cluster of Cady’s Alley, the striking sushi cave from executive chef Saran “Peter” Kannasute and co-owner Jeff King breathes fresh life into the old home of L2 lounge. Kannasute’s calling cards like truffle wasabi, monkfish liver, uni with torched wagyu, and widespread use of edible flowers show up across a lengthy list of rolls, and a full kitchen with a hood gives the Bangkok-born chef room to build upon his boundary-pushing menus and introduce hot izakaya offerings for the first time. Kannasute taps into his Thai roots this fall with the opening of Rimtang, a fast-casual street food spot in the nearby space that formerly housed Kintaro." - Tierney Plumb, Emily Venezky
"The team behind outer Arlington’s raw fish hit Yume Sushi sauntered into D.C. last summer with the a flashy flagship called Kyojin. Tucked inside the stony mixed-use cluster of Cady’s Alley, the striking sushi cave from executive chef Saran “Peter” Kannasute and co-owner Jeff King breathes fresh life into the old home of L2 lounge. A full kitchen with a hood gives the Bangkok-born chef more room to build upon his boundary-pushing menus and unleash hot izakaya offerings for the first time. Kannasute and his mother tapped into their Thai roots in October with the opening of Rimtang, a fast-casual street-food spot in the nearby space that formerly housed Kintaro." - Tierney Plumb, Missy Frederick, Emily Venezky
"Kyojin Sushi is known for its gold flake and caviar covered rolls. But it’s the basics, like their chef’s choice sushi platter with ten cuts of nigiri, that make this Georgetown restaurant worth missing this month’s car payment. This place is part restaurant and part nightclub, with dim lights and EDM music that forces you to shout at the person across from you. But you’ll be so busy shoveling fresh slices of bluefin tuna and salmon belly in your mouth that you shouldn’t have much time to talk anyway. The fish is so flavorful that you can eat it raw—we’re talking sans soy sauce and wasabi. And Kyojin is a great spot for a special night out, though make sure it’s with someone you truly love. Portion sizes will require some tough decisions if you’re trying to share. " - omnia saed, tristiana hinton
"The deal: $65 dinner menu This Georgetown sushi spot is doing a $65 dinner menu of five courses: cold small plates, followed by your choice of baby clams or their signature bun, followed by a signature roll. From there, you can pick between uni pasta or garlic butter miso scallops, followed by dessert, which is their bird’s nest ice cream. (Check their Instagram for the full rundown.) If you can, try to snag a table on Friday or Saturday night—that’s when a meal here is the most fun." - team infatuation
