The 19 Best Restaurants In Bella Vista - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"A meal at this Bella Vista Japanese restaurant means neon lighting, ocean waves murals, and good bowls of ramen. Our favorite is the spicy chicken shio, but they have a decent variety of styles for whatever mood you’re in. The sushi isn’t memorable, so just stick to the noodles the next time you're near the Italian Market looking for something warm." - alison kessler, candis mclean

The Best Ramen In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"This Japanese spot is convenient when you’re near the Italian Market or when you don’t want to choose between shoyu, tonkotsu, miso, and shio. With juicy chicken and crunchy vegetables swimming in the bowl, the spicy chicken shio version will make you forget about whatever you were doing before you walked in the door." - candis mclean

Came here yesterday to try the lunch special in person. Nice staff and service is quick. Went with the 3 roll special with spicy salmon, tuna n eel avocado rolls with the salad. Salad was good to start tho would have enjoyed the miso too. Got the gyoza fried which was ok. Made me miss the ones from neighborhood ramen rip lol Sushi was ok I liked the crunchy salmon, tuna was ok both had fishy after taste which made me wish I got something else lol. The eel was the best of the lot. I’d try again but wouldn’t go out of my way to do so but it’s about 16 min walk lol. I’d try again for the ramen maybe lol

A very pleasant establishment situated on ninth Street within the Italian market. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated and presented with menus. Our server was incredibly amiable. However, there was a slight language barrier that hindered communication. Uncertain if the dishes adhered to traditional recipes, I requested certain substitutions which may not have been fully understood. Nonetheless, she was accommodating and went out of her way to inquire about ingredients in sauces and dressings. The menu does offer clearly marked vegetarian and vegan options, although the details of the sauces and dressings in vegan dishes require additional clarification. One of my companions opted for the Takatsu Ramen and found it to be delectable. We also shared an order of pan-fried dumplings that were vegan - satisfactory, but not the best we've had. Personally, I chose the avocado Machi roll, which was outstanding. Filled with avocados and peanuts, it came with a side of Sriracha that complemented the dish perfectly with its sweet-and-spicy kick. The avocado salad, on the other hand, was mediocre. Slices of fresh avocado were accompanied by black and white sesame seeds over a bed of iceberg lettuce mixed with cucumber and carrot. Unfortunately, a vegan dressing was not offered, prompting me to create my own blend of Sriracha and vinegar. Feeling a bit rushed despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, we were surprised to receive the check while still dining, with one dish prematurely cleared away. However, overall, it was a positive experience. We anticipate returning in the future to explore other offerings on the menu.

I stopped by this ramen spot last night with my kids and had a great experience! I ordered ramen, sushi, and drinks, and everything was spot on. The prices are fair—actually a bit cheaper than many other places around. Ramen was delicious, the meat slices weren’t too thick—just the right size for my taste, The noodles were cooked perfectly with a good bite to them. My kids loved the pan-fried gyoza, which were crispy and flavorful. Sushi rolls were fresh and came in the right portion—not too small, not overly stuffed. The restaurant itself is small, only about five to six tables when I visited, but I actually enjoyed the cozy vibe. The noise level was just right—lively without being too loud, which made the experience even better. Service was quick and efficient. Honestly, the food was so good I didn’t even stop to take any pictures—just dove right in. Overall, a great little spot for a casual and tasty dinner.

We picked up a variety of their takeout tempura and sushi dishes for a summer family dinner. Everything was fresh, high quality and delicious! Loved that the boneless chicken tempura was created in a spear style for easy eating. The entrees included miso soup or salad plus rice. The servings were generous and reasonably priced. There was plenty of tempura dipping sauce. There were enough leftovers for another meal for each of us! The service was friendly and attentive.

I think this is the best calamari I had in Philly. The squid still soft on the inside while still crispy on the outside. Their fish quality is fresh and fatty. Highly recommend! Also, they are cash only for dine in!

The service is very good. The waitress keeps checking on me if everything is alright. I ordered sushi lunch set and takoyai. Miso soup that came with the set tastes pretty good. Sushi was fresh (7.5). Takoyaki was also tasty. Wasabi was not spicy. Perhaps they need to do this for customers who can’t eat eat spicy, but I missed that brain pinch. The price is affordable.

Food is great for the price. It's usually fresh. However, I have to remove a star because it's cash only. I often order online and eat it at home to avoid having to pay cash while dining in.

My go-to sushi place, best in South Philly. I could eat here multiple times a week, it's that good and there are so many menu items I like. Standouts for me are the philly roll, spicy crunchy tuna roll, rock shrimp tempura, gyoza, and tempura shumai. Amazing lunch specials too - cash only, but very affordable. The staff is super nice and attentive as well.
